The space

Beautiful colonial apartment (130 square meters) in the heart of Havana and just one block (100 meters) from the famous waterfront Malecón with its magnificent sunsets! Best prices and central, in the authentic district of Centro Havana! It is within walking distance of Old Havana (Habana Vieja - UNESCO World Heritage Site). The colonial building stems from the pre-revolutionary period and still emanates the old majestic spirit. Thanks to the high ceilings, spacious living room and the balcony you may enjoy well your stay! The apartment as such has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (so that each bedroom has an independent bathroom), 1 dining room, 1 living room and 1 kitchen. In addition to the fresh breeze from the nearby ocean all 3 bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning and fan.

Guest access

The guests can use the entire apartment and the balcony, as the apartment as such is rented to the guest.

Interaction with guests

Loly, my sister-in-law lives just 1 block away and may be contacted at any time. She also prepares and brings the breakfast to the apartment, once ordered.

Other things to note

1) Fresh bed linen and towels are provided free of charge.
2) Breakfast is not included in the rent; If you wish to have breakfast, we offer the same at a price of 4-5 Euro per person depending of your wishes and what is available in socialist Cuba. Usually, we offer Cuban coffee, white bread, honey, some cheese or salami and fruits of the season and juice.
3) Laundry: We are happy to do your laundry for a very good price.
4) Last comment: Please understand that we try to do our best to accommodate you in our apartment to make you feel good and enjoy your vacation. Despite our efforts, please do not forget that you travel to a non-globalized socialist country with all its particularities. Not everything is available as you may expect in your own home country. On the other side, maybe this, inter alia, makes up the charming character of Cuba.

arrived and no one was waiting for us with the keys, unit was dirty and not ready for us. they showed up 30 minutes later to clean the unit and let us in. 1 of the workers lives in the house and needed to move his stuff, including the laundry machine. he asked me for help to take it down the stairs. no water pressure at all. overall they were very nice people, but I would not recommend this place.

This is a great location. Staying here was a wonderful experience that I'm happy to have had. The ceilings must be at least 20 feet high and the balcony provides a terrific observation point. We all wondered about the history of the building and the people who lived there. We only needed to wait about 5 minutes for a neighbor to bring us a key to get in and show us the house. We did experience some plumbing issues in the bathrooms. Luckily there are 3 bathrooms, so between them we had our needs met. We enjoyed a buffet breakfast $5CUC at the waterfront hotel run by Grand Caribe hotels about 3-4 blocks away. They'll make omelet to order and had real cheese and lots of fresh fruit. All in all a good experience!

We loved this location. It is in Habana Vieja, with all the old buildings Havana is known for, but was not in the overly touristy, bustling bit of it. We felt like we could access everything Haban Vieja had to offer, but also see the residential side. The balcony is priceless. We spent hours up there watching the street scene and the ocean beyond the Malecon. Loly and Junior made us feel very welcome and waited for us in the house even though our flight was very late. The breakfast Loly made was delicious. We had all the privacy we wanted as she only came in and out as planned to make us breakfast. The layout of the house is somewhat long and skinny which made it a little stuffy, but it seems typical of the place. We ran the AC in our bedroom and it was fine. It was huge and could easily sleep 6-8 people. There was plenty of hot water as well, not that we wanted to use it since Havana was so hot!

Avoid this place. We rented this apartment as an "entire place" and Christoph sent a note saying the host, his cousin Loly and husband Junior would be checking frequently. As we arrived I was informed that while we could use all three bedrooms and bathrooms, there would be two people from their staff (they manage several places) staying at all times in the living room, which was the only room with a balcony, a couch and views to the outdoors. I could not understand this arrangement and made it clear we needed privacy. They finally allowed us to stay by ourselves, but with the condition that if anyone came we would call them immediately. Apparently there's paperwork that was not properly filed with authorities. That day went fine although the apartment was not super clean, 2 bathrooms didn't work properly. There were no proper utensils in the kitchen, and it all felt ill washed. The next day we went out, and when I came back in the middle of the day Junior and Loly were there, they had collected all of our belongings and hid them in closets. This felt awful to me. I hated the fact that they were touching our personal things. They said that an inspector was coming. They were very apologetic but I had no real way to trust them, as it all felt pretty shady to me, and there was much tension in the air. Thank god we only had one more night here. Before we left we had to work hard to make sure we didn't leave anything behind, but we lost a couple of things due to the confusion but did not want to come back. The apartment is central but right next to a very noisy street with heavy traffic.
