Top floor spacious 1 BR, centrally located next to the Castle and Palace and with fantastic views.

The space

If you're looking for an authentic Edinburgh experience, look no further than my spacious 1BR/1BA apartment located right heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. Built in 1860 in a listed tenement building this bright top floor apartment has fantastic views over Carlton Hill and the Firth of Forth.

The apartment is situated in arguably the best possible location; 30 seconds walk from the Royal Mile teeming with street performers, musicians, cafes, bars, museums and arts, crafts and whiskey shops! 10 min walk from the Castle, 10 min from the Palace; 5 min walk from Princess Street (Edinburgh's main shopping district). It is also 5 min walk from Waverley Train station, where you can also get the airport shuttle and Tram.

The apartment itself has a traditional feel. The private bedroom is very quiet with nice views over Edinburgh historic buildings. The large living room can also turn into a bedroom with a double bed and the kitchen is fully equipped with a dining area.

Wake up with views across the old town. Enjoy a cup of coffee and some people watching on the royal mile. Then take a step back in time to experience the historic buildings, the closes, hidden gardens and activities of a back gone age. Then take a stroll to Edinburgh Castle, down to the palace, past the parliament and on to Hollyrood park, home to Edinburgh's extinct volcano; Arthur's seat. In the evening dine on local produce, have a dram in the whiskey bars, take a mystical Ghost tour and dance to some live music in this fantastic city!

If I could give this apartment more than a 5 star rating, I would! You can not ask for a better location for exploring Edinburgh. The apartment was exactly as pictured and was very clean and cozy...and the view from the front room windows was a nice bonus as well. Stuart could not have been a more gracious and welcoming host, letting us know the local spots and answering my questions.

Very central location, walkable to everywhere you want to go. Building and apt are artsy and have a bohemian feel. There are some great pubs near by and places to have tradition food, lots of shopping close by as well.

This is a fab spot to call home while in Edinburgh. It is central yet off the beaten path so no loud partiers below your windows as you try to sleep. The main bedroom looks out over a courtyard which is very quiet, however the living room where the second bed is looks over a train station. While we were sitting there during the day we could slightly hear the announcements over the PA, don't know what it is like at night tho. The layout of this apartment is quirky and functional. I enjoyed the space both for relaxing after a long day and for getting some work done while looking over the stunning view from the windows. Also, important to note are the four flights of stairs needed to climb to get to the apartment. It was difficult with suitcases but a nice stretch at the end of the day. Stuart as a host is responsive and interactive. A great person to rent from!

I can't recall the last time I took the time to write down comments about an Airbnb stay. This stay deserves it. Stuart was a fabulous, precise and organized host. His responses were always timely and he provides a very detailed orientation package. His flat has all necessary practical commodities (fridge, basic condiments, cutlery, dishwasher, washing machine) and is very conveniently located: Edinburg is a small city and Stuart's apartment is at the heart of it. I particularly liked that the bus from the airport literally gets you 10 minutes walking distance from his flat. Moreover, I also had a situation where I needed to prolong my business stay in Edinburgh longer than initially planned. Stuart went above and beyond the call of duty; his flat was already rented out to other hosts after my stay, but he arranged for me to stay at his parents' in what turned out to be a fantastic bed and breakfast experience. Again, a very generous host and a kind human being in what turned out to be a perfect apartment. Thank you Stuart.

We spent one week at Stuart's place and we had such a wonderful time! The apartment is clean, cozy and has everything you need, including a nice tv with Netflix and BBC iPlayer. The bed is really comfortable and nights were quiet. We were there during winter months, so we don't know if it gets noisy in the summer. It is located a few steps from the Royal Mile, close to the Airlink 100 bus stop and New Town. You can walk everywhere from there and feel like local. Stuart is an incredible host. He helped us with our luggage up to the fourth floor and checked in on us a few time to make sure we were doing fine. He sent us a welcome package with lots of useful info on the apartment and Edinburgh. Both check in and check out were easy and smooth. It was our first time using Airbnb and travelling with our 9 month old baby and we only have good memories from this trip. We highly recommend this apartment and hope to go back one day.

Stu was AMAZING! He did everything he could to get us in a bit earlier to accommodate our train arrival time. The place was clean, he showed us around and gave us tips for the area and made us feel at home in his place. The location couldnt have been any better. We were only a few steps away from the Royal Mile, Waverly Train Station and Princess St for shopping. We couldnt have asked for a better location, host, and apartment. THANK YOU!
