Pros: - Good communication, quickly replied to all messages. - Friendly hosts - Dogs allowed - Pretty landscape - Left to ourselves, quiet area - We could have a fire - Reasonably priced - Would be an ok first camping experience for inexperienced campers or overseas tourists - The nearest town is about 30mins away, and is a reasonable size and nice Cons: - The river sites are directly opposite either their (operational) shearing shed with tractors and people, or their house. - (Appeared to be) blue-green algae in the river, when questioned about this he appeared indifferent and suggested maybe not letting our dog or child in the water. - The river backs onto a very large open field which is nice, but you can see the highway and cars going past. - There's basically no privacy for toileting behind trees etc (one side has the host's house, the other the highway. - No kayak or things that had been mentioned were there, and rubbish at the sites. - It's been duck hunting season so there were shotgun shells and duck & bird carcasses everywhere, and skeletons of farm stock everywhere also (not exaggerating). - There was no signage. When we found the host's father he asked if we missed the turn-off, and (thankfully) showed us where to go. It was through unmarked farming gates, diagonally across huge fields...we would never have found it by ourselves. Overall the hosts are nice, the place is pretty, but it felt like bare-minimum effort.
