The Sailor`s Rest House is located on the beautiful Isle Madame, the French Acadian heart of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia (Canada`s Eastern Shore).
The ocean could not be closer, smell, hear, taste the saltwater.

The space

Our lovely old fisherman’s house sits on the rocks at the end of the quaint fishing village of Samson’s Cove next to Little Anse and is surrounded by the ocean. Here your can enjoy a stunning and endless view in any direction.

Originally built by the first settlers in the mid-1800’s, Sailors’s Rest has recently been fully renovated and now offers comfortable rooms equipped with bright furniture and handcrafted driftwood beach art. Here you can enjoy two cozy rooms with twin beds on the first floor or watch the sunset from an extendable queen size bed with memory foam mattress in the living room on the the ground floor.

The dark kitchen counter top and the dining table are not heat resistant. Please put all hot things only on the maple wood board or coasters. The little tub right hand corner of the sink provides reverse osmose produced drinking water .

Weekly on Wednesday morning the garbage will be picked up at the red box. They take only securely fastened sacks. The blue recycling bags will be checked stricktly and sometimes not picked up if the items are not clean. Recyclable items or fruits and vegetables in the clear bag are a reason of not collecting the clear bag. There is a compost heap on the way left hand to the rocky beach. Please read the separate notes of the four waste streams attached..

Please take care of the new bright sofa. The drift wood table is not stable enough for wine bottles or coffee pot. I've stayed in over 40 AirBnBs now globally, and I must say, that Robert's home in Sampson Cove is close to the best. Such a gorgeous location overlooking the waves lapping at the shore, and I could stare out over their back lawn at the sunrise/sunsets all day. Robert communicated often and got us prepped for the visit. You'll enjoy exploring the island, plenty of options for kayaking, some fun local eateries, and great walks around the area. Very highly recommend.

Weather wasn't great so we didn't spend a lot of time outdoors other than to go on day trips. As a result we spent a lot of time in the house. We found it to be clean, bright, comfortable, minimalist and a little quirky but more than adequate for a very relaxing vacation for two. Superb location for which the description and pictures tell the story. Enjoyed watching the lobster fishermen working their traps each morning right out the front window. Great coastal walks (not necessarily easy) if so inclined. Enjoyed our limited experience of the surrounding communities and found people friendly. As a result of the weather didn't see much of the adjacent neighbours. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.
