The Rooted Roundhouse Bunkies are nestled in a forested 3 acre farmstead. Experience a unique stay in our cluster of micro cabins. A bunkhouse, a cookhouse and a bathhouse with a custom, outdoor cedar shower.
The space
At the hub of our property is our round yurt inspired house. This is the place we call home and the place where we are growing our family and the food we eat. We are a family of four, one dog, and four cats.
The bunkies are located about 250ft from our home, nestled amongst the trees. There is a gravel path that leads up to the bunkies from the bottom driveway where you will park. The path is not wheelchair accessible.
These are 3 season buildings. There's electric heat in all the buildings. There is airconditioning in the Bunkhouse. We will turn on heaters/airconditioning prior to arrival.
The bunkies consist of 3 units.
-The bunkhouse (ladder access to loft)
-The cookhouse
-The bathhouse/outdoor shower
The bunk and cookhouses are 10'x10' in size (100sqft).
The bunkhouse has a ladder access loft that has a queen size bed with a 7' high ceiling. There is also a double sofa bed in the bunkhouse. If you wish to use it please let us know in advance so that we can have it ready for you. If you have any allergies to feather down pillows or duvets please let us know.
Coffee and tea will be provided for self use in the cookhouse. The cookhouse has a two burner stove , a toaster oven, a mini fridge and a BBQ. (Willing to upgrade mini fridge for long term stays).
The toilet is a composting toilet. You will be provided step by step instructions on how to use upon arrival. The shower is outdoors.
There is no TV. The WIFI is Starlink.
There are string lights hung between the Bunkies which provide light at night to illuminate the pathway.
There is a firepit provided for guest use, during times when there are no fire bans. You are welcome to use the firepit. We have firewood bundles for $12 each that includes kindling.
The entrance gate opens up towards your vehicle as you arrive.
The guest parking area is situated below the Bunkies. Look for the "parking" sign.
We have one family dog. Her name is Nikita and she will bark when you arrive. We will try and have her leashed before you arrive.
Nikita is half Malamute, husky, shepherd, wolf mix.
If she is down at the gate someone will come down to get her before the gate is opened! She can't be let out of the fenced property as she will take off and may cause damage to neighbors livestock.
There are several off leash dogs in the neighborhood. Some bark at vehicles that drive up the driveway. When arriving at the gate the dogs may greet you first. Although they bark we have never had an issue with guests coming and dog incidents.
There are bears etc in area, our property is fully fenced.
We hope you enjoy your stay!
Guest access
Guests will have access to most of our property.
We have just over an acre of fenced area to explore. Situated behind our house is a seasonal waterfall and creek that has gated access to it.
Also situated in that area is our large vegetable garden, and small developing orchard.
We ask that you respect the area and understand this is our families homestead where children will be running around being children.
Other things to note
The creek fed cold plunge is seasonal. It may be in operation or it may not! Let us know if you're interested and we will have it set up. Keep in mind it's a "natural" cold plunge!

Hope
Chainsaw carvings line the streets, while canyon rafting and a Rambo filming location give this Fraser Valley city an outdoorsy, offbeat edge.

From the host
The neighborhood has several small to large acreages along it. Although being close to town it is surrounded by nature. It is quiet and far removed from the lights of town. Pack a head lamp.

Hello! Matt and I moved to Hope in 2015. We have grown to love this small community. Hope and surroundings really have so much to offer and is highly underrated! We have two boys, a big malamute cross fur baby (Nikita) and our four cats (Nettle, Fern, Ozzy and Manni).
In our spare time you will find us working on various building projects on our property, in our large veggie garden, skiing, biking, hiking, dirt biking, camping and doing yoga.
