I have been part of the Airbnb family for going on 5 years. What I have learned is traveling is exciting and fun but can also be difficult and stressful. I have had many experiences as not only a host but as a guest. Having a safe, clean, well organized and equipped place to lay your head can make all the difference in the world. With having both good and bad experiences with staying at Airbnb homes, I know now what it takes to make people have an EXCELLENT stay. This was not knowledge that I came into property management with. This was learned through trial and error. Through traveling and hosting. With having awesome Airbnbs and unfortunately awful ones. I think sometimes hosts think that this is a way to make a quick buck, well its not! There is a lot of effort into making people feel comfortable in their new temporary homes. Being organized is huge, people do not want to come to their new home after a long car ride or flight to not having clear checkin instructions or a house that isn’t super clean and comfortable. People need inviting comfortable beds with extra pillows and linens (and bed protectors on the mattresses!!). Having a fully functioning and well equipped kitchen. Plates, silverware and a couple pans is not what makes an Airbnb! Having a kitchen that resembles your own in the way of amenities can make your life much easier and save you money avoiding eating out. A bathroom with clean good quality bath towels, hand towels, Q-tips, cottons balls, shampoos, extra toothbrushes and much much more! Also having a hands on Host that is there to help you get acquainted with your new surrounding can take the edge off. This is what makes Airbnb special. Its not the empty and cold experience hotels usually are and it should never be the, "trying to make a quick buck Airbnb Host" thats heart is not in it. This is a hospitality business that is in it for the good will of the people using it. Airbnb is close to my heart. Property management is, believe it or not, extremely rewarding. I get to meet people from all over the world. I like to call it," traveling in reverse". I get to find homes for people that are refugees from other countries, house families that their actual house flooded or burnt down and meet people that I become fast friends with and keep in touch after the reservation is over. Everyday is challenging and rewarding. I truly look forward to each new day.
