  • Our stay was fantastic! We asked to come down earlier in the morning to go watch the rugby and Mary was so accommodating. The place was absolutely lovely, with little extras such as crisps and chocolate bars which was a beautiful touch. Good location to get into town - took about 15 minutes in an Uber and cost £10 each way but there was also a train station 10 minutes walk away or bus options. We woke up in the morning to a fabulous breakfast with loads of choice! Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be staying again next time we head down to Cardiff.

    Danielle2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful find. Fabulous place to stay, excellent accommodation and Mary was very accommodating. Breakfast was a lovely added bonus. Rhiwina train station is at the end of the road or taxi into centre cost around £12. Would highly recommend.

    Julie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely warm, comfy & sparkling clean accommodation. Lovely welcome from Mary who had provided basics & fresh milk on our arrival. Would highly recommend.

    Judy2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • A great location for Cardiff, we used park and ride and then this was so easy to get to in the evening. Mary is a wonderful host, a lovely clean and stylish place to stay. I would highly recommend.

    Paul2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Mary’s place was ideal for a trip to Wales for the rugby. Great facilities, perfectly clean & located very close to the train station so it was easy to get to & from Cardiff for the match!

    Luke2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • My mum and man stayed with Mary over the Christmas period to visit the Christmas markets and myself at uni. Mary’s communication with me was superb and she was happy to accommodate for my mum and nan through me. My mum and nan were so pleased with their annex saying it was spacious and great value for money- especially with the added breakfast in the conservatory. They will definitely be staying again on their next visit! Thanks Mary for being a fabulous host!

    Chloe2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our third visit to Mary and yet again we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As before, the annex was clean, warm, the beds comfy, the shower was amazing. Mary's breakfast is simply the best. A real home from home, far enough away from Cardiff centre to be quiet but close enough to be near all Cardiff has to offer. We will return again.

    Chris2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's garden flat is a lovely haven of peace and tranquility but with quick and easy access to the centre of Cardiff. The beds were comfortable, the whole flat was well equipped and spotlessly clean, and I loved the natural light and views of the garden from the living area and bedroom. Breakfast was a feast of fresh fruit (beautifully presented), yoghourt, cereals and and 3 different types of bread. Mary was very attentive and hospitable and within 5 minutes of leaving her place she texted me to let me know we'd left something behind so it was easy to return and collect it. I would definitely stay with Mary again without hesitation.

  • Helen is an absolute gem, and staying here was a delight. The flat is located in a beautiful area outside of Cardiff, and it's very easy to get to and from the city. The bus stop is only a five minute walk away. The place is lovely and comfortable, and I felt welcomed immediately, which is an underappreciated commodity while traveling. I'll absolutely be staying here my next time in Cardiff. I cannot recommend this place enough.

  • Helen is a really lovely host, made us feel very welcome and was friendly and chatty. Good value for money:

    Ani2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Helen is the most awesome host ever! My partner and I stayed here for a night during our weekend visit to Cardiff. The host friendly and welcomed us with so much enthusiasm, showed us where to dry our dripping wet clothes (from the rain), offered to make us tea, then showed us to our room. Unknowing to us, we had booked for a single room but Helen had graciously added an extra bed from her spare room before we arrived! Really felt more homely than an average bnb, as Helen gave us almost unlimited access (including her Netflix). Thank you so much Helen, and we would absolutely visit again if we find out way to Cardiff anytime soon!

    Opeyemi2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Helen is the most eager and kind host you’re likely to find. She offered me a meal and help securing the rest of my travel plans. She excitedly offered even to go with me on my tour of Caerphilly!

Double room with double bed, big window, desk, table light and heater. Big enough for 2 people but maybe it's a bit small for 3 guests. To 5 minutes walking from town centre. Street parking. Breakfast included: tea, coffee, orange juice, toast and cereals. The stay is only with two us, no more guest. Remember that you are in a private house, it's not a hotel. For us renting the room is not a bussines, it's a way to know different people and sharing life experiences. We'll give you our best.
This is the miner house next to town centre, 5 minutes walking with pubs, shops and restaurants around. Close to bus station (7 minutes walking) and train station (12 min walking). The Treforest Campus is 5 minutes away by car, if you prefer you can take the bus (numbers 90, 100, 102, 104, 120 and 132)
Pubs, supermarket, 7/11, chinnesse take away and fish & chips next to our house. Close to amenties and food shops.

  • Really lovely tiny house. Best of all are the sheep and lambs that hang out at the window - beats watching the TV! Thanks Har and Niamh!

    mark2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Shed was lovely, equipped with everything you could need and more. It was a very stormy weekend but we were cosy and warm and even got into the spa at one point! We loved watching the lambs who would come right up to the window to say hello. Sad our weekend is over and hope to be back. A special thank you to Roy who dropped us back to Cardiff due to flooding on the railway and even stopped to show us some sights on the way!

  • We had a lovely weekend staying at The Shed, it's a fabulous little space and the pictures really don't do it justice. It was everything we wanted for a weekend getaway, had all the amenities we needed and more, was nice and quiet and secluded and the hot tub was the cherry on the top. The hosts are great and made us feel very welcome, check in and out was easy and they were very quick to respond if we needed anything. We will definitely be back again and I would absolutely recommend this place!

  • My boyfriend and I stayed here as a getaway for his birthday, we were absolutely blown away by this place. The facilities are amazing and we loved every second - we were able to cook whilst we stayed there and the location is incredible. Har, Niamh and Roy are so lovely and we really couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, the value for money is fantastic, we didn't want to leave! if you are considering staying here, do!!

  • Fantastic place to stay! Peaceful and quiet with brilliant hosts. We can’t recommend this place enough - the shed has everything you want, it’s clean, cosy and warm. Lovely views. Super private. The hot tub is the perfect touch to this lovely home from home. Har & Niamh are friendly and extremely helpful! We will definitely be back. Thank you.

'The nest' bell tent sleeps up to 5 people. Either 1 double or 2 singles plus 1 futon and 1 roll out. Inside is a lovely log burner, tea lights and lanterns. Outside is a large decking area and firepit. Beautiful views of the valleys. Ideal for families or small groups.
  • Such a lovely place to go and stay. It was perfect for our little girl and dog to run around. The Viking wagon is so cozy. All the extra touches like the marshmallows and the welsh cakes were so nice. And I highly recommend the breakfast box. Loved our stay here.

    Ruth2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic time! Craig was a wonderful host and so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The set up is brilliant, with luxurious comforts and thoughtful touches like welsh cakes and marshmallows for toasting. It's clear that they have thought carefully about their guests and the extra facilities such as a barn with bbqs and fire pits meant that even on a rainy day there was somewhere dry to sit other than the tipi. Would love to return, thank you for a lovely experience.

  • Such a great place to stay, fabulous field for kids/ dogs to run around in. We went for a walk along a magical footpath that ran alongside the property. The bell tent was perfect for us all, 2 parents and 2 big kids. Lovely touches from the host, bbq to cook on and a fire pit to sit around (too warm for that for us). All in all a treat.

A beautiful cosy self contained private hideaway set in the beautiful mountains of Llanwonno. Ideal for walkers, cyclists and horse riders, Or just a relaxing place to just chill out. The fabulous brynfynnon pub and restaurant set in the mountains is absolutely wonderful. You can take a hike along the forestry , cycle or drive to eat from their 5* menu. The pub's bar accepts well behaved dogs, so both you and your 4 legged friend can relax together in a friendly, relaxed environment.
We have no neighbours living close by, so it is very private. Between may to September, we have stabling available for 2 horses maximum. A daily extra charge of £10 per night per horse applies. Straw bedding can be supplied at £6 per bale, or you are welcome to bring your own. (Horse feed is not included.) We are very close to the famous Taff trail where you can cycle along the banks of the River Taff. A popular ride made by many cyclists takes you to Cardiff Bay, Castell Coch and many more fabulous places.
We are situated in the mountain area of Llanwonno. The nearest village is approximately 2.5 miles away. There are 2 hairdressing salons, pharmacy, coop store, pet shop and local pub. The town of Pontypridd is 4.5 miles away. There are many restaurants, pubs and lots of shops there. The beautiful Ynysyngharad park situated at top end of town is well worth a visit. During the summer period the newly built outdoor swimming pool is superb.
  • Lovely to wake up surrounded by beautiful views and sheep.

  • Had a fabulous weekend despite the weather! The barn was clean, cosy and lovely and warm! Fran left loads of essentials......tea, coffee, milk, butter, biscuits etc which was a lovely touch. She was there to greet us and explain how things work and the best places near by. Definitely plan to stay again.

    Naomi2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The location is great - it’s out in the sticks but close enough to drive to the nearest town with big supermarkets. Frances was a great host and we had a lovely time. There’s a kitchen so you can cook your own food and the place was very warm and cosy in the winter.

    Eleanor2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fran was outstanding host, communication was fantastic nothing was a problem. The barn was lovely in a remote beautiful setting, really enjoyed my stay and will for sure be back again in the future. Highly recommend to anyone 😄

  • Fantastic location with wonderful views. Fran is an outstanding host and I would definitely return. Close enough to the town but tucked away in a peaceful and quiet rural spot.

    Joanne2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fran was a great host and the stay was just what we wanted (apart from the rain!!). Love the quirky barn conversion which is in a beautiful, remote location in the hills but close enough (for a long) walk into Pontypridd for the Ponty Big Weekend. We also had a very nice Sunday lunch at the Brynffynon Hotel just up the road a bit. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Fran.

The rooms available are attached to our lovely 17th century inn. The Inn is located in the heart of the village of Nelson offering a warm welcome and maintaining its charm and character of days gone by. We are proud of our excellent reputation with both local villagers and those customers travelling from far and wide. Our rooms are available to let on an individual basis or can be let for group bookings. Message for availability for group bookings. Prices quoted are per room
Access to our rooms is independent to the Inn so there is no temptation to come in for a tipple ! That said we offer great home cooked food and a selection of beers and lagers. In the winter time a roaring log fire is our main attraction
We are located in an ideal position for those wanting to visit Local attractions like Bike Park Wales, Indoor Climbing Centre, Brecon Beacons & Caerphilly Castle. We are 18 miles from the exciting City of Cardiff where many main events are held
  • Lovely, clean place. Minimal noise, free parking. Everything you could need, really central to the village. Will definitely be back! Thanks Kay x

  • The room we had at the Lord Nelson Inn was fantastic, really spacious and lovely and warm. We were the only ones staying so although the bathroom and kitchen are shared with other rooms we had it to ourselves. The bathroom was huge, and looked brand new with a lovely big shower and plenty of fluffy towels! Sparkling clean. The shared kitchen was also well equipped but we didn't really use it. Had a lovely meal in pub that night sat next to the cosy fire!! Extremely reasonably priced room and a lovely stay. Thanks so much!

    Rebecca2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely room with comfortable bed, huge shared bathroom and big kitchen with everything you need. Would definitely stay again. I also had a nice meal in the pub :-)

    Jennifer2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • I always choose to stay at Kay's and have never been disappointed. I travel to Wales regularly for work and it is nice to be able to have a drink and a meal in their public house with a bit of company, or just microwave something in the guest kitchen for a quiet night in - also there is a 'chippy' across the road. During a recent visit I was going to be late, arriving after their chef had gone home. Kay offered for me to order a meal in advance, on arrival my dinner was plated and wrapped so I could heat it up in the guest kitchen. Great Service, Fabulous Hospitality - Highly recommended.

    Carol2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • The rooms have been recently and tastefully decorated. All spotlessly clean throughout. The rooms are above a public house but you would not have known it, there was no noise from the pub, even at closing time. Private Parking is supplied. Kay provides a shared Kitchen area for guests use with a microwave for heating up your own food. However, why bother, the pub downstairs serves excellent cooked food at a very reasonable price.

  • I stayed at Kevin and Sam’s house for ten days when I was working in the nearby hospital. Indeed it is the best place to stay. Not only it is pristine clean, spacious and comfortable but also warm and cosy. Kevin and Sam are truly super hosts! I had my own bathroom and a lot of space in the fridge for my staff. They also did much more than needed to accommodate me as I was working night shifts and I had to sleep during daytime. I would definitely recommend it as an excellent place to rent!

Shared use of family lounge (if you want company), or separate diningroom (if you want privacy), kitchen and bathroom with shower & bidet (but no bath). It's a quiet residential area - a small development of 30 x 1960s bungalows and houses off a terraced road of miner's cottages, close to a main road, a rail station and bus stops. There is a country park 5 - 10 minutes walk away with level walks/cycle paths through the woods and wildflower meadows and more challenging walks over the hills. The park has a great viewpoint of several valleys and miles of countryside at it's highest point, as well as the largest earth sculpture in Britain (Sultan the pit pony). There are several takeaways - Indian, Chinese, kebabs, fish and chips and pizzas, within a ten minute walk, including some who deliver. There are two Indian restaurants, an Italian cafe (daytimes), a pub which serves British food, and another pub which serves Thai food and British food, and two great coffee shops, all within ten minutes walk of the house.

  • Located in a cute little town nearby Cardiff. Room was very clean and nice.

    Timo2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed 2 nights in Adrienne's home, picked for it's location just up the road from an event we were visiting. It is a lovely place, spotlessly clean, with everything you could need during a stay. We were given freedom to use the well equipped kitchen and bathroom (with a walk in shower). On arrival there were chocolate brownies and sponge cake for us, along with milk (and special order goats milk) in the fridge for us. The whole house is filled with very nice artefacts, many made by Adrienne herself, there is a pleasant natural feel to the whole place. It is a handy location just minutes from the main A470 for the M4 or Brecon Beacons. The bed was comfortable, there was plenty of parking space outside, we took advantage of the off road space to park my partners motorbike, I sat in the garden and had a coffee, the shower worked nicely, it was all there, just right, and still very much a home, as opposed to the pseudo apartments that so many people try and get wrong. Adrienne's home is just right for a few days in the area and highly recommended.

    Mike2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Every couple months or so I have work in the area and have been staying with Adrienne for these weeks for about a year now and it’s always lovely to be back. I stayed in the double room for a couple of nights this time as another guest was in the single room for the first night of my booking. This room was really lovely and comfortable with plenty of storage space. As always a perfect stay.

  • The location is brilliant, close to the train station and the centre of town, everything is within walking distance, including Penallta Parc. Adrienne was a lovely host, providing us with really helpful hints and info on places to visit, travel options and the researching of our family history which was the purpose of ur trip. Also.... I accidently left my mobile at the house when I returned home to Cornwall, Adrienne was brilliant and popped it straight in the post to me, which I was very grateful for! Would totally recommend this accommodation and Adrienne.

  • This is definitely my best AirBnB experience so far! Adrienne is an amazing host! She picked us up at the Ystrad Mynach station and welcomed us with homemade Welsh cake. She also provided us with unlimited tea and coffee. The room was clean, cozy, and beautiful. If I come back to Wales in the future I will definitely choose to stay at Adrienne’s home again!

One of two campervan spaces with electric hook ups at the Roost Merthyr Tydfil, a small site in Troedyrhiw, Merthyr Tydfil with shared shower rooms and kitchen facilities, parking, WiFi etc. Minutes from BikePark Wales, on the Taff Trail and on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. An ideal base for exploring. And we don't mind a bit of mud.
Our cabin/campervan site, The Roost Merthyr Tydfil, has four cabins and space for campervans. Its ideal for group getaways and exclusive hire is available. We currently have space for two campervans, max 6m. Vans only please, no motorhomes due to space restrictions. Each space has an electric hook up and guests have full use of the shared facilities. No space for awnings but there’s plenty of covered and outdoor seating around the site. Shared facilities on the gated site include: 3 shower rooms each with loo, sink and shower (our loos flush using recycled rain water) An inside/outside kitchen with seating and all the essential equipment and tea, coffee, sugar and milk A bbq Parking Drying room Bike wash/tools The Roost is a Visit Wales quality assured glamping site. Well behaved dogs are very welcome to come and stay. We just ask that owners clean up after their pooches (there’s a poop bin just outside the gates to the Roost on the Taff Trail) and be considerate to other guests. Guest access Each cabin is private but the rest of the site/facilities are yours to explore/utilise including the shared kitchen and shower rooms.
The Roost is in Troedyrhiw, Merthyr Tydfil, in the heart of the Welsh Valleys with the Brecon Beacons on the doorstep. There's a pub next door (it doesn't do food but has a pool table!) and the village centre is a 5 min walk away. Here you’ll find a cafe (they do great value breakfasts and Sunday roasts to eat in or takeaway (and they can deliver)), pubs, convenience stores, a butchers, chemist, cashpoints (within the convenience stores), an Indian restaurant and takeaways . Merthyr Tydfil town centre is 12 mins by car, 18 mins by train (from Troedyrhiw) or a 20 min level bike ride on the Taff Trail. Here you’ll find a wider choice of food and drink and shopping, a cinema and leisure centre.
  • Loved every minute of my stay, I stayed on the campervan pitch. Really clean kitchen and shower room. Would highly recommend!

Our Ty Unnos lodge (welsh for house for the night). Is a beautifully converted Norwegian BBQ hut with either 1 x double bed and 2 x single futons or 2 x single beds and 2 x single futons. It also has a log burner. We have a 2 night minimum stay at the weekend but you can book for 1 night in the week.
The lodge is based in the grounds of a 16th century Welsh longhouse with beautiful views of the valleys and plenty of sheep around.
  • A perfect place to stay. Close to Bike Park Wales. Everything you need for camping. The camp kitchen was a winner for us as it saves bringing ours. Great pub and food within walking distance.

  • This place is in a beautiful setting and the host has made very pretty touches to the rooms and communal area which make for a happy relaxed atmosphere. Showers&toilets were clean and always stocked up with soap and toilet rolls. We chose the Barrel because it has electricity but the other 3 ‘rooms’ All have their own perks. Thank you to Craig and Tamsin for letting us enjoy a taste of your life there.

My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids).
The lodge is in the grounds of our home with a good size double bedroom and a cosy living room with wood burner.
Situated in a small village but within easy reach of the Brecon brecons and 45 mins from Cardiff . The local neighbourhood has a lot to offer in the way of outdoor adventures and history. Fishing, camping, biking ,climbing ,walking , paragliding are amongst the most popular to do things.
  • Good accommodation in the heart of the Welsh Valleys, 10 minutes walk to a pub and public transport. Small shop in village, 5 minutes by car from big supermarket. Nice friendly host and hostess. To really appreciate the area you need transport, you can drive to Cardiff, Brecon Beacons, Airport and South Wales coast in an hour.

  • We really enjoyed our stay here. Andrew and Emma were fantastic; great value for money, would recommend and we hope to return ourselves.

    Susan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful welcome of a roaring fire, milk and welsh cakes! We arrived late from a long trip down but we could get straight in and rest up in the warmth. Loverly couple who were always quick to respond. Place heated up quite quick and plenty notes of suggestions to eat, visit or walk. Great escape from the city but close enough to a Morrison's, fuel and shops. One warning is for those with a lower car like a sports car, there is a mighty steep hill to get up the way we entered the street which our Ford Estate just edged up/down without scraping. Is impressive to see but we also took our Z3 and would have had to park at bottom haha! Perfect little spot to escape the world from.

    Mark2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this place during the Xmas week and loved it. Andrew and Emma are very warm friendly easy to talk to people. On arrival, Andrew had already made a fire in the cutest wood burner and the Xmas lights were on too. That's was exastly what I needed after hiking and shopping. I was on a solo holiday and Emma offered very kindly to bring me a Xmas meal. Been a foodie I already planed my cooking but it was still so nice of Emma. The place is very easy to find and walks to PYF and the board on PYB just about 30min away. It's a great location for many walks of all level of difficulty and kind (hilltops, reservoirs, forest, etc). Andrew and Emma checked regularly to see if all is OK or need anything. I won't hesitate to recommend them. The kitchen is well equipped. Very good bed. Decent shower and plenty of products (hand-wash, shampoo, shower gel etc)

Lili Wen Farm (snow drop farm) is set in beautiful countryside just a short distance from the A470 with easy access by car from the M4 and surrounding areas. We are 14 miles north of Cardiff and 30 miles south of the heart of the Brecon Beacons. We offer a double room in our family home; a farmhouse set in 40 acres, nestled in the hills; a place of peace and calm.
Lili Wen Farm is our family home which we share with 11 horses/ponies; three pet dogs; a pet sheep who thinks he is a dog; two pet lambs with special needs; two pet ducks and a pet cat. All the animals are friendly and love to come for a fuss or some food. We are a family of three adults but the farm is a fun and welcoming place for children too. There may be the possibility for an extra single mattress to be put in the room on request. Lili Wen has 40 acres of fields, woods and a stream. It is a beautiful place where you can walk or just sit and contemplate. Nestled in the hills between Pontypridd and Caerphilly there are plenty of walks from the farm and the Brecon Beacons are an easy 30 miles. The Llanfabon Inn is within easy walking distance and here you can enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal. Llechwen Hall is a little further where you can book in for a delicious lunch, evening meal or afternoon tea. Cardiff City Centre is 14 miles from the farm along the A470 or the local train line. Here you will find all the attractions of a vibrant city including nightlife; shopping; theatres; restaurants; museums and much more.

  • We had a lovely stay at Sj's place - we really couldn't fault it at all. The house was so warm and welcoming, and there were so many lovely touches on the room like the tea, chocolate, spare toiletries and lovely fluffy towels. The bed was amazingly comfortable, so we had a great nights sleep. They also have the friendliest cat ever who gave us a very warm welcome! Would love to visit again and explore the area a bit more Xx

SJ and her family were very welcoming, we were able to cook meals in the kitchen and had a very relaxing time in front of the fireplace on a rainy day. We also loved all of the animals.
