Top restaurant recommendations from locals

Restaurant
“For years this superb award-winning restaurant has been attracting diners from all over the world. The food is an eclectic mix, based on Shaun Hill’s personal taste, paired with sound cooking techniques; rather than a particular country's cuisine. A unifying feature is the core of excellent ingredients. If anyone wanted to treat me to lunch or dinner this would be my first choice in Monmouthshire. Excellent food at respectably fair prices.”

“ An Italian restaurant and pizzeria in the central market area of Abergavenny. As a family run restaurant, the atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming and family friendly, just like the food. Great value for money. Booking is advisable especially around weekends. About 15 mins drive from The Studio in Crickhowell.”

“Walterstone, HR2 0DX (Always open... only place for Sunday and Monday evening food). Landlady Vera was born in the pub in the 1930’s and the pub and the wallpaper have been in her family for generations. Traditional pub food but this family can really cook! £12-15 for mains plus steaks. Only accept cash or cards. 20 minutes drive.”

Meal Takeaway
“Ewyas Harold HR2 0EX (Wednesday to Saturday lunch and evening) Marcus's fish and chips are always good! Sometimes a queue but you'll have a friendly conversation with locals while you wait. 5 minutes drive or 40 minutes walk through the farm and across the common. You can get a drink from the Temple Bar opposite and sit outside or guests have taken a bottle and paper cups and sat on the common to eat and enjoy the view! ”
