Bridge
“The Rio–Antirrio Bridge officially the Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge, is one of the world's longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges and longest of the fully suspended type. It crosses the Gulf of Corinth near Patras, linking the town of Rio on the Peloponnese peninsula to Antirrio on mainland Greece by road. It opened one day before the Athens 2004 Summer Olympics in 12 August 2004. Also, in the opening day the Olympic Flame has crossed the bridge. The 2,380-metre-long (7,808 ft) bridge (approximately 1.8 miles) dramatically improves access to and from the Peloponnese, which could previously be reached only by ferry . Charilaos Trikoupis was a 19th-century prime minister of Greece who suggested building a bridge in the current location but the wealth of Greece at the time didn't permit its construction. The bridge was planned in the mid-1990s and was built by a French-Greek consortium . As a passenger you can take the ferry (free of charge if you do not have a car with you) and have a nice trip , beside the bridge, from Patras to Antirio ”

“Responses to greetings If you’ve put your best Greek phrases to the test, many Greeks may respond to your polite greeting with any of the following: Kalo-so-ri-sateh – welcome (or we welcome you) Kalo Vrathi – wishing you a pleasant evening Kalo Xi-mero-ma – wishing you a good dawn or daybreak (usually after you’ve said “good night”)”

The building, occupying a space of 2.150 square meters, was built between 1999 and 2001. The permanent exhibition, dedicated to the Roman and Early Christian Nikopolis, is housed in the two main exhibition halls of the museum. The exhibition aims at presenting the evolution of Nikopolis into a major political and cultural center of the Late Antiquity, particularly highlighting the crucial role of its geographical position between Rome and Constantinople. ”
