El Castillejo, a country house with a space of 12 hectares, is divided in 3 primary areas that are individually independent from each other, as they can all be accessed from outside differently. In addition, each is equipped with a living room, an exterior terrace, a small kitchenette (only one) and bathroom in-suite. 4 floors make up the rest of the (common) space which includes: a spacious living room, a terrace overseeing main driving road, an incredible rooftop for fireworks or stars watching, a classy office room, bodega, a kitchen with plenty of storage room and large enough to prepare any sort of party or event, maids bedroom (max of 2), and parking inside. Designed by architect curro Inza, the house received a national award (which one) in the seventies. Still furnished as such, the interior´s overall feel and look is quite authentic. Surrounded by the local county river called Jiloca, the outside offers: - A private lake area (not in use currently), - A large swimming pool plus two additional pools for the kids (summer only) - Tennis and court wall (somewhat deteriorated) - A myriad of centennial tree types throughout - Multiple green areas that have been used in the past for minigolf, soccer, concerts, parties, kids´playground etc. Taken as a whole, the house was ideally thought of for friends with families, or a big family (like ours!), who seize and enjoy common areas but certainly may want to remain independent when spending time together. The property is conveniently situated by highway access: 92 km from Zaragoza, 211 km from Valencia, and 265 km from Madrid; Calamocha is an authentic Spanish village (5K citizens approx.) in the northeast region of Aragon that it’s best known for producing one of the finest lines of Iberico ham across Spain and its outstanding local gastronomy hub in general, as well as for its popular “San Roque” dance (mid August). In brief, Calamocha offers a true cultural and emerging experience besides multiple outdoor activity options. Additionally for the culture seekers, close fieldtrips should include a visit to - Albarracin, UNESCO-recognized village from Jewish origin - Peracense Castle - Teruel city, place of mudejar towers and aqueducts - Daroca, renown by it very cute and special charm. If your cup of tea is the outdoor activities, please be advised that: - Amazing bike/trekking trails, both on-road and off-road, surround the area (bikes can be arranged for rental upon arrival if desired). - Bird watching (months specific only) in Laguna de Gallocanta attracts visitors from all over the world (see more here). - Landscape photography in the area is also a shared pleasure.(specific) Hunting and 4x4 trails are popular too among locals in the region. Please don't hesitate to contact me for any inquiries, doubts or requests you may have.
