Park
“As vital to Amsterdam as Rembrandt, canals and coffee shops on a sunny day there’s no place better than the Vondelpark. As people from all walks of life descend on this sprawling equivalent to New York’s Central Park, a party atmosphere ensues. ”

“The Rijksmuseum is the premier art museum of the Netherlands, and no visitor to Amsterdam can afford to miss it. There is an excellent collection of around 200 masterpieces – a sort of 'best of’ group – exhibited in a side section called the Philips wing and it was recently completely renovated! ”

“The Van Gogh Museum is a museum dedicated to Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh and is one of Amsterdam’s must-sees. Opened in 1973 to house the collection of Vincent’s younger brother Theo, it consists of about 200 paintings and 500 drawings by Vincent and his friends and contemporaries, such as Gauguin, Monet, Toulouse-Lautrec and Bernard.”

Market
“Hard to put this one into a category, since it is basically everything. Good for some typically dutch food like a stroopwafel and great coffee places all around. Also possibly the best place to get some good deals on fruit, veg, fish and nuts. Generally something to see, walk around, hear market people yell in Dutch and meet all kinds of people and you can buy less standard souvenirs as well.”

Brewery

“On the site of the company’s former brewery, Heineken's self-guided 'Experience' provides an entertaining overview of the brewing process, with a multimedia exhibit where you ‘become’ a beer by getting shaken up, sprayed with water and subjected to heat. Prebooking tickets online saves adults €3 and, crucially, allows you to skip the ticket queues. Guided 2½-hour VIP tours end with a five-beer tasting and cheese pairing. Great-value Rock the City tickets include a 45-minute canal cruise to A'DAM Tower.”
