Places to stay in Ancramdale
Nestled between the Berkshires and the rolling farmlands of the Hudson Valley, The Ancram A is perfectly situated for your Upstate getaway. This unique A-Frame was originally built in the 60s and then reimagined in 2012 with modern luxuries. The cabin is on a lake so grab a towel and head down for a swim. 25 min from bustling Hudson and Great Barrington. 15 min from quaint Millerton. Also, there are many farms to visit. We look forward to sharing our picturesque hamlet of Upstate NY with you.
Our cozy cabin is outfitted to make your stay as comfortable and easy as possible. There is a projector screen with Roku and a game bin for nights in. Outside, we have a smoker and a BBQ near our fire-pit and welcome you to cook and hang outside. Every room has a fireplace and two out of the three bedrooms have private decks. Please read the Information Packet upon arrival for all the details. We also have posted tutorials on how to build a fire and use the projector on our Instagram: @the.ancram.a
The Lower Rhoda Lake Association was a teachers colony in the 1930s. Many of the locals spent their summers around the lake. Shore Dr is a pedestrian path to the water. Sometimes you may see a neighbor walking their dog or going for a run. Everyone is very friendly and are proud of the community. There are many farms close by ranging from berries, tomatoes, cattle, poultry, dairy, and even flowers. We love grabbing a bite at The Copake General Store and going for a hike. We will have a recommendations list available online and at the cabin.
  • This cabin is a dream! Where to start?! A fireplace in each bedroom makes this place so unique. Each room is stylishly decorated and has modern, artsy vibes. The pull down projector was so fun at night and made us feel like we were in the movies. And the heated floors were so cool! We also spent some time outside at the fire pit. In warmer weather there’s lake access nearby. Ariella and Adam were great hosts, very communicative and made sure the cabin was stocked with everything you need. We hope to come back again soon!

  • Ariella & Adam's Ancram A is an incredibly picturesque, cozy and unique place for a getaway with friends or family. The hosts are very attentive to any needs or questions that may arise during your stay. The space is absolutely stunning, and comfortably accommodates six people. Great food, hikes, farms and attractions are all within a 30 minute-radius, with nearby Copake as a great town with all your essential needs. After spending a weekend there, it was very clear that this is a special place that makes for an unforgettable trip.

    Jonathan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ariella and Adam’s A-frame is totally perfect. From the thoughtful touches (local Irving Farm coffee), beautiful and comfortable interiors, and modern luxuries (gorgeous and efficient fireplaces) this is a picture-perfect Hudson Valley getaway for friends. The location is in great proximity to cute towns, delicious restaurants, hikes, and farmstands, yet still remote. Ariella and Adam’s guide to the house and the area is really helpful. Would absolutely come back.

    Margo2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ariella and Adams aframe was absolutely perfect. It is very clean, trendy and surprisingly spacious. Their home is full of thoughtful touches like heaters in each room, projection screen for a perfect movie night, mood lighting and stylish accents. We will be back as soon as we can be.

    Lauren2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment I arrived I was blown away. It was a truly a dream scenario. Walk in and notice the spacious, yet cozy quality this place offers. Everything is new and beautiful. The tiles are heated, there’s a projector in the main room with a sweet sound system. 3 bedrooms , trees all around with a lake nearby. An extremely peaceful and satisfying time. Super romantic upstairs, and the ability to make a nice little fire in any room is really something special. Definitely the best Air bnb I’ve ever been to. Thanks Ariella and Adam

  • Such a cozy warm place. We loved the eat in kitchen style. The kitchen table was very stylish, reminiscent of the 50s I think. Plenty of notes around the home to help you figure things out. We found this very useful. The back deck was so nice with a picnic table and bistro set. Unfortunately its too cold at this time of year to sit on the deck. You can see the river and spillway from the huge living room window. I found myself staring out the window for long periods of time. Got to see some deer and birds which was a treat for my dog as well. Beds are comfortable and a good size. Bathroom has lots of space and has the washer and dryer in it. We will definitely be back in the warmer weather to take advantage of hanging by the river.

This peacefully quiet home is in the middle of nowhere, yet conveniently close to it all: Bash Bish Falls (10 mins), Millerton (10 mins), Copake Lake (15 mins), Catamount Mtn (20 mins), Lakeville, Conn. (20 mins), Hudson, NY & Great Barrington, Mass. (30 mins). For those who'd prefer to read by the fire or stargaze from the hot tub on the deck, this well-dressed home is a destination in and of itself. Luxuriously comfortable beds plus all the amenities offer a restful retreat from busy lives.
An organic hand-made king-sized mattress provides a restful night's sleep fit for royalty; the queen size bed is the same as what's found in the W Hotel. During summer months, air conditioning units are installed in these two rooms, while a fan cools off the small bedroom with twin bed. During the winter, central heat warms up the whole house super fast. The wood-burning fireplace makes for a very cozy evening (bring your own firewood). The deck is equipped with a charcoal grill and dining area for al fresco meals. Acapulco chairs offer comfortable seating for conversation and s’mores around the firepit (look for the telescoping marshmellow roasters in the kitchen cupboard). A mix of mid-century modern furniture provide the perfect back drop for comfortable hangs in multiple common areas (living room, family room, and deck). The super-fast fiber optic internet/WiFi will find your device wherever you are in the house, allow for HD streaming on a 42-inch LG TV and music streaming on Sonos speakers. Dogs (2 maximum) are allowed with approval and $100 fee for the extra cleaning associated with pets. Meditation cushions and yoga mats available for those who really wish to strengthen a connection to the natural world. Everything has been designed with rest and relaxation in mind. It took me 10 years to find my dream home and I’m happy to share it with you.
This is an idyllic and secluded setting in a rural community. Here's a google map of a few of my favorites: Retreat House Favorites https://goo.gl/maps/WuihW3iLz3m And a great primer on the area: https://www.harneyre.com/elyses-country-journal/ancram-ancramdale-new-york/ For awesome walks: https://clctrust.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/countywide.pdf I really love going to Won Dharma meditation Center in Claverack, which has miles and miles of beautiful trails open to the public. Taste of New York in the median of the Taconic has a lot of great food staples (local eggs, diary, bread). Peck's grocery in Pine Planes on Church St is also great. The Farmer's Wife in downtown Ancramdale and the General Store in Copake offer delicious breakfast and lunch. Woodpeckers, cicadas provide an amazing soundtrack, while the scent of lilacs and other wild flowers provide a heavenly atmosphere.

  • It was really a super exciting experience ! In addition of his deep knowledge about street art Savio complements his narrative with an excellent soundtrack and really good historic information! I definitely will repeat this experience.

    Carla2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • great experience, had relaxed tea and cake, got deep into shoreditch and white chapel area, saw many street arts, detailed information about that area connected to music and people, artists there, recommend it and would book Savio again.

  • It was great time even though bad wearher... groomy..strong winy.. I can be inspired from Savio and very fun as well. Thanks a lot-!

    Ran2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Shoreditch discovery was a unique experience with Savio and we truly enjoyed it. Savio was kind, focused, passionate and personally interested in the street art world. He took us beyond the streets and back in to the history of the neighbourhood, buildings, art and people. We had a lot of time with street art, visited shops and chat with an artist that we came across. Savio was energetic and liberal with time as we strolled down the streets with his bacpack music accompanying us. I would recommend this experience to all who would like to immerse themselves in Shoreditch.

Our neighborhood is an amazing lake community. Many people visit for vacations- to swim and hike in the summer, to hike and pick apples and pumpkins in the fall when the leaves are changing, to ski in the winter, and to get away and enjoy hiking in the spring as summer approaches. Our neighbors are helpful, supportive, and relaxed. If you don't wish to say hello, don't worry! but don't be surprised if you reach out to say hello and a friendly passerby begins a conversation culminating in recommendations for local farm-to-table restaurants.
  • This was our second stay. Had another great weekend. Kids went skiing nearby and they had a blast. Looking forward to coming again.

There is so much room for friends and family to gather in the living room, and everyone has their own space as well. I was especially happy to be able to have a cozy couch and access to netflix when I had to stay home sick. Tamara was so kind and flexible with our unique situation and requests, and was always available to reply when we had any questions. My husband and I are definitely saving this listing so we can return!

  • We had a great Fall weekend at the cottage. So much to do in the area. The cottage was very cute and cozy. Very kid friendly with games and toys. The barn was a nice edition. Tamara was a great host and answered all our questions timely. We look forward to come again.

  • This house was everything our group could ask for and more! Incredible space for a reunion of friends looking to relax and enjoy the scenery. The houses were incredibly clean and provided the perfect space for a relaxing weekend getaway.

A private, spacious farmhouse located on 8 acres in a Tuscan-like rural area of southern Columbia County. Hard to leave this cozy retreat but house is perfectly situated for exploring. It's a 20+ minute drive to all of the following: Rhinebeck, Red Hook, and Hudson, New York; Egremont (Catamount skiing) and Great Barrington (Butternut Skiing), Massachusetts, and Lakeville, Connecticut.
  • This is the most wonderful, peaceful and restorative places and houses I have ever visited. Having access to stay in a home like this, in an environment like this, is a gift.

    Ellen2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great 5 day meditation retreat. Liz was super responsive. The house was all we hoped for and much more. We will return.

    Juanita2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying at the home and we really enjoyed staying here. It was exactly what I wanted -a quiet and relaxing escape for family and friends. Liz is responsive and very helpful with recommendations for activities to do nearby. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen, pool and outdoor shower were great. I would stay here again. Highly recommended.

    Carmen2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a truly wonderful time at the Red House! Liz was incredibly responsive and the house was perfect for a group of 9. We especially enjoyed our time in the gorgeous pool. Thanks Liz!

    Amy2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Liz's place was PERFECT! The location was beautiful! The pool was magical! The decor from the plates to the toys were stylish and farmhouse chic. I left with countless design ideas for our own Brooklyn home and look forward to our next visit, because we will definitely be back. Our entire family fell in love with this place-- my husband, 6 year old, 3 year old and 9 month old:) Every moment was incredible!

    Yabome2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Liz’s home is exceptional - the vistas, the light, the pool, the layout. All was remarkably comfortable, classy and tasteful. Our group of two families (with kids ages 5 & 7) fell under the magic of the place! From the fields of fireflies to the views-while-swimming, to dinners on the deck, walks down the country roads....it was an incredibly memorable trip. We ventured out a bit, and had we stayed longer would have explored adjacent towns more, but we felt so at home at Liz’s that we took advantage of the time just to relax and unwind! Liz was a wonderful communicator and obviously cares for her home and her guests. We feel very lucky to have found this gem and can’t wait to return.

    Jocelyn2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This house and location offered a shelter from the storm. From the moment you wake and hear the birds and see and feel the trees and mist and air till you sleep at night, this provided a calm so missing from the world at large.

    Ellen2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • we had such a great time at Liz's house! we were a total of 10 people and found plenty of nooks and crannies to sleep and enjoy our days. The kitchen was really well stocked and perfect for a Thanksgiving feast. The grounds were beautifully kept and inspired lots of deep thinking. We were extremely happy with our stay and all the great local suggestions provided by The Host.

  • This house has more charm than the photos convey. We had a great time staying here in Ancram and exploring the region.

    Frank2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jeannette and Perry were amazing hosts. I spent three months at their artful home while on temporary assignment in NY. My family enjoyed the area especially Taconic State Park, The Children’s Museum in Poughkeepsie and the great programs at the Copake Library. We took an amazing day trip to Vermont. The town is quiet and picturesque, but not far from so many activities.

Our recently renovated home is a sun-filled, post-and-beam cabin situated on a quiet road with seasonal views of the surrounding hills & countryside. The house features an open floor plan with three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Our wooded hillside lot is a rural oasis, and inside, you'll find a combination of rustic and contemporary furnishings and decor. We love our home and enjoy sharing it with others looking to explore all that the Hudson Valley has to offer!
The house is most comfortable for groups of up to 6. We will allow up to 7 guests and there are two couches or an air mattress for larger groups. Fresh linens and towels are provided, and the kitchen comes stocked with basic cookware and tableware. Help yourself to condiments, salt, pepper, etc. you may find. The house is equipped with heating and Central AC for four-season enjoyment, which can be controlled via the Nest thermostat.
Located at the nexus of bucolic Dutchess and Columbia Counties, our house is under 30 minutes from area destinations Hudson, Rhinebeck and Millbrook with Litchfield County, CT and the Berkshires not far beyond. The welcome guide details some of our favorite local activities, including hikes, farms, shopping, and historic landmarks. We are just 5 minutes from the nearest town offering coffee, a grocery market, and multiple casual and fine dining options. Let our cabin serve as home base for all of your Hudson Valley adventures!
  • We absolutely adored this cabin. It is spacious, stylishly decorated, the beds are all amazing, and the nearby towns are so lovely to spend time in. We’d be back in a heartbeat.

  • Callan and Dylan’s home exceeded my expectations and I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend escape. The house is thoughtfully designed and the perfect combination of cozy and modern. The house is only a short 5 minute drive to town which has great cafes and restaurants. The hosts were attentive and quick to respond. Would recommend!

    Ellen2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • the cabin was great! cozy, light filled, quiet, comfortable and stylish!

    Sarah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I and are two young kids stayed at Callan and Dylan’s place over the winter holidays. We loved the house; it was comfortable, beautifully decorated, peaceful, and quiet. It is also within driving distance of Rhinebeck, Hudson; great restaurants; and many lovely parts of the Hudson Valley. I was a bit worried that we wouldn’t find enough for our kids to do in the winter but they had a great time playing outside and taking trips to the Trevor Zoo, firefighter museum, and mid-Hudson children’s museum. Dylan and Callan provided an excellent guide to the area and were quick to respond to our inquiries.

    Jessica2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This home is everything you want in a stay upstate. The rustic modern style of the house is just woodsy enough to feel cozy, but new and stylish enough to feel luxurious. The pictures can’t do it justice. The ceilings upstairs in the bedrooms are so high, a breath of fresh air from cramped city living! The host provides everything you need, including recommendations for places to sightsee, hike, shop, and eat - but you could easily do nothing but lounge in the house and leave happy at the end of your trip. (I still took a day to do some antiquing, though!) Just a completely lovely stay.

    Chloe2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property, great hosts, we would recommend and come stay again!

    Daniel2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Callan and Dylan’s home and had an amazing weekend with my family. Everything in the home is updated, modern and most importantly sparkling clean! The house is located close to hikes, wineries and distilleries. Callan and Dylan are very nice and helpful. They left clear instructions for the home and provided suggestions for local attractions. One of my best stays yet and can’t wait to go back! Thanks again Callan and Dylan!

    Andrea2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • My family's stay at Callan and Dylan's place was wonderful. A very clean, spacious and unique place to stay nestled in the woods of the Hudson Valley. Communication was swift and a booklet was placed in the home with a list of local destinations and experiences to be had - highly recommend staying here.

  • My dog and I visited Mary’s beautiful farm this weekend and had a lovely time. It was quiet and clean, the bed was very comfortable. The land is gorgeous and my dog loved running free (we were visiting from the city). Mary was friendly and communicative. The space is near Red Hook and Rhinebeck, and about 30 minutes from Hudson, if you have a car and want to explore. I would recommend this space!

    Megan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's place is charming, clean, and perfectly situated on a quiet farm with great views. The space is open and generous with a good array of amenities. We were only able to stay for one night, but I could easily imagine myself staying for longer!

  • I hesitate to write anything positive because I want this gem to stay a secret all for myself!!! Amazing place, amazing property. So sweet and loved going to nearby Millerton for dinner and breakfast! Highly recommend.

  • Mary's Nook is a perfect hideaway space to spend some time. It is well appointed and thoughtful in every way.

    Mariette2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend away from the city thanks to Mary. The Nook is stylishly decorated, with an indoor fireplace and a huge, comfy bed. Spectacular views of the valley and great restaurant in Stissing House. Highly recommend

    Richard2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • I kind of love that the photos don't do Mary's barn/the Nook justice! I don't think photos could. It faces beautiful rolling hills and is the perfect setup for a cozy weekend getaway, especially with your partner or solo. You'll wake up to great sunlight and the sound of cows in the distance. The town of Pine Plains is also very close by. We loved our dinner at the Stissing House and spent a long time in a small bookstore called New Leaf.

    Estee2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, you will see A Million Dollar Landscape from the windows. It was so very very quiet with just the Gorgeous Japanese Cows Moo-Mooing. And oh my, my Ella, my 80 pound Boxer-Mix got to roam the fields in front, play Frisbee, and slug by the wood burning stove. If you are looking for R&R, beauty, quiet, stars at nite, romance, and no rah-rah, then please do come here. The place feels spacious because of the Catherdral Ceiling. We were the only ones on the property, and you are talking about 700 acres. The property also as adjacent huge house that was empty.

Idyllic, quiet, secluded log cabin surrounded by forest, with wood pellet stove in kitchen, fireplace in LR, and optional electric baseboard. AC downstairs & up. Fully equipped with amenities, including Internet, cable TV, and Sonos. Deer, woodchucks, chipmunks, rabbits, wild turkeys, the odd fox, a variety of birds at the feeders, and hawks aloft. Views of Stissing Mt from windows, yard, and deck. Outdoor hybrid gas/charcoal grill and outdoor shower. Garage for rainy or snowy nights.
If you're looking for casual and rustic elegance, this is the place for you. Complete privacy and utter quiet. Just look at the photos! For readers, the cabin hosts a library of hundreds of books. Please feel free to read them but do not take them with you when you leave.
Larry’s home is located just outside Pine Plains, New York, United States. The cabin is surrounded by woods and well back from the road in a very rural setting, yet just five minutes from town where you will find a full market, a pharmacy, a liquor store, two breakfast cafes, a pizza restaurant & a Mexican restaurant—both very good for takeout—and two very good restaurants: Lia's Mountain View and the Stissing House--all within 2 miles or less. A twenty-five minute drive to the west brings you to Rhinebeck; the same distance south goes to Millbrook, and fifteen minutes to the east is Millerton, with Salisbury, CT just beyond--all very nice towns with lots of antiques, shops (including Oblong Books, located in both Rhinebeck and Millerton), excellent restaurants and other attractions including Upstate Films, the Beekman Arms, and the Aerodrome in Rhinebeck, and the Hudson Valley Rail Trail and The Movie House in Millerton. Drive in any direction and you're in horse country, with rolling hills, running streams, and deep woods that delight the eye and calm the soul. There is terrific hiking in the area, from Thompson Pond and Stissing Mountain (which you can see from the cabin) just 3 miles away—perhaps you've seen the diorama at the American Museum of Natural History in NY—to the Taconic trails above Millerton (wild blueberries galore atop Brace Mountain!), and the Catskill Mountains, less than an hour awayto the west. The Hudson Valley Rail Trail with access in Millerton, is a great place for bicycling. For a more sedentary yet fun activity, you can watch polo being played at the Mashomack Polo Club just south of Pine Plains. For hot summer days, there is an excellent swimming hole just a few miles away. Directions and trail maps are among the information provided at the cabin. Also good for swimming are Ore Pit Pond, Lake Taconnic, and Rudd Pond, all under a 1/2 hour from the cabin. The Catamount Ski area is also an outdoor recreational area with zip-lining and other activities during the warm months. If you like live music, there are several excellent venues in the area: Bard College (30 minutes); Helsinki Hudson, (30 minutes); Infinity Hall, Norfolk, CT (40 minutes); Daryl's House, Pawling, NY (50 minutes); Bearsville Theater and Levon Helm Studio, Woodstock, NY (55 minutes); Tanglewood, Lenox, MA: (60 minutes); Towne Crier Cafe, Beacon, NY (60 minutes) A half hour’s drive brings you to the Olana Historic Site, home of Frederick Church, in Hudson, NY, and to the Thomas Cole House in Catskill, just over the river from Hudson. Along the Hudson River to the south near Rhinebeck you might visit Montgomery Place, Poets’ Walk, Wilderstein, and Mills Mansion. Further south along the river you will come to the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt estates in Hyde Park. There are excellent farmers' markets in Rhinebeck and Millerton. For fresh produce I recommend Duncan's Farm Stand in Ancramdale, NY (directions provided ). I also recommend the Chaseholm Farm for fresh meat and milk, the famous Ronnybrook Farm for their yogurt, and the splendid Hillrock Distillery, maker of fine whiskeys; these last three are all within three miles of the cabin. If you like to go out for breakfast or lunch, I recommend The Pine Plains Platter in Pine Plains, The Farmer's Wife in Ancramdale, and the Oakhurst diner in Millerton. There are also plenty of great places to eat in Rhinebeck and Red Hook. For groceries, I recommend Peck's Market in Pine Plains, Hannaford and Tops in Rhinebeck, Freshtown in Amenia, and LaBonne’s Market in Salisbury, CT. Distances from the cabin: Pine Plains: 1.5 miles Mashomack Polo Club: 3 miles Ancramdale: 4 miles Millerton: 9 miles Hudson Valley Rail Trail: 9 miles Amenia, NY: 15 miles Omega Institute: 15 miles Salisbury, CT: 16 miles Rhinebeck: 16 miles Rhinecliff: 19 miles Bard College: 18 miles Catamount Ski and Recreational Area: 20 miles Hudson, NY: 22 miles Kingston, NY: 25 miles Hyde Park: 28 miles Great Barrington, MA: 28 miles Hudson River Walkway: 29 miles Culinary Institute of America: 29 miles Marist College: 29 miles Vassar College: 30 miles Woodstock, NY: 32 miles Albany, NY: 62 miles West Point: 67 miles Midtown Manhattan: 100 miles Boston, MA: 180 miles
  • Comfort, hospitality, a nice big kitchen, an awesome house heater called a pellet stove, wonderful amenities, and an all-around good time!

    Kristen2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Way beyond my expectations. My whole family was super happy to see it was an authentic log cabin and 10x more when we left. The house is setup in a way that everything is already setup for you without having to worry about running to a store (other than for food). Super cozy on cold days. Thank you!

    Ricardo2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Larry's place was incredible. Not only was it super clean and accessible, it had all sorts of little touches we loved like the fireplace, big kitchen, access to hikes, etc. We'd love to come back!

    Jp2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter, dog and I stayed in the cabin for a long weekend. The setting was beautiful and the cabin looked exactly as it did in the pictures. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed hanging out in the backyard, hiking in nearby state parks and watching the chipmunk from the kitchen windows. This is a perfect location if you’re looking to enjoy the turning of the leaves. We would stay here again.

    Elizabeth2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Larry is a wonderful host and his cosy log cabin home is ideally situated. The views you will wake up to in the morning are beautiful and you will feel the peace surround you as soon as you arrive. There are games and an amazing collection of books to enjoy, plus you can listen to music and disconnect from your daily grind. This was the perfect weekend getaway for our family - thank you!

  • Larry is a pleasure to deal with very responsive . His place is fabulous very clean and is the way it looks in the pictures . He is very helpful with finding things to do in the area I would highly recommend his place.

    Lisa2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Larry’s cabin is absolutely wonderful. Situated on a slight hill, the location is beautiful and tranquil, the woods opening up around the cabin to frame a far off mountain. The cabin itself is a wonder. Perfectly cozy and clean. The kitchen is exceptionally equipped, which is crucial to me, as cooking involved meals is a highlight of any AirBnB getaway. The cabin is also teeming with books of all sorts. My family spent much of our downtime perusing a diverse array of volumes. Larry was very communicative and hospitable. I hope to visit this pleasant place again some day!

    Justin2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cabin on a nice property that we found exactly as described. Beautiful property, comfy bedrooms and living room, and a spacious, fully-stocked kitchen with gas. We were happy to stay here for a weekend retreat away from the internet and our phones. Larry was a very gracious host with lots of knowledge of the area. We hope to stay here again in the future!

An enchanted home on two and a half acres of private woodland, with babbling stream, ten by thirty foot deck with barbecue, a fire pit, wood stove and gazebo; hammock, five adult bikes and one kid's bike, a play structure, toybox, and eighteen miles of rail trail. Taconic State Park's majestic mountains are visible from almost every window; bike miles of rail trail nearly from your back door -- end up swimming in an old iron ore pit lake or hiking to a famous waterfall.
This magical country cottage on a secluded meadow, with its own big private woodland adjacent to mountains, is a welcoming getaway. It was built in 1920 as a dairy farmhouse. The vintage bedrooms give four couples privacy. A foldout couch in one of the downstairs parlors adds sleeping room for kids or for extra guests. A bright downstairs is fully renovated. Upstairs is cozy and rustic vintage farmhouse with distant views from each bedroom. A living room, with sliding glass doors, looks over a famous trout stream, lawn, private woods, streamside gazebo. A second parlor holds DVD player, DVDs, cards and games. The 10 by 30 foot deck and Adirondack chairs are perfect group gathering spaces. The gazebo hosts a romantic drink. A wood stove makes the parlor a cocoon of coziness, and kids and adults all love toasting marshmallows out by the fire-pit. Though the has wifi, dvds, a fully equipped kitchen, and other contemporary comforts, do expect to feel that you are going back in time.
Boston Corners is a very special part of the foothills of the Berkshires...and our little rural neighborhood sits at the base of the majestic Taconic Mountain Range. Though lovely neighbors are within reach, Victoria Cottage itself is secluded from the road, far from any sounds of traffic and faces from the back deck a truly remarkable vista of woodland, stream and mountain. The bustling little town of Millerton is a short ride away and music festivals, crafts fairs, artisanal food shops, farm to table restaurants -- even glassblowing, crafts, and a destination bookstore for the kids -- abound. Visit the quaint movie theatre of Millerton after dinner at a range of delicious restaurants featuring local produce, or wander through the Saturday farmers' market, and return to Victoria Cottage for a glass of wine under the close-enough-to--touch canopy of stars. Wake to birdsong and run up the road to Taconic State Park, for swimming in an iron ore quarry or lazing in the sun; hike to storied Bash Bish Falls; or fall sleep after lunch with friends in the screened porch's peace.
  • Excellent stay, as advertised.

  • It was our second time at Naomi's place and this time we had decided to bring our two toddlers. The location is awesome with nice towns/farms/farmer markets/walking trails closeby. The kids had great fun in the garden and the house is perfect and feels very warm. We will be back again soon !

  • Super relaxing spot in the woods exactly what we needed to escape the city. Rail trail biking excellent straight from the house, hiking and apple picking super close. A beautiful spot to spend some time! Naomi and Brian are brilliant and helpful, super responsive and kind. Our almost 4yo twins loved playing in the big yard and woods.Thank you so much!!

    Lauren2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Naomi was an exceptional host... friendly, responsive, helpful and very accommodating. We booked our stay very last minute and she went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. The house itself was charming and beds and linens were clean and comfortable. The house was tucked away in nature, yet within a short drive away to town. There were lovely trails, hikes and other fun activities nearby. Naomi provided bikes which was a plus! We spent the day biking and exploring many of the recommendations she provided. At night, we enjoyed gazing at the starts by the outdoor fire pit. We hope to come back soon!

    Sari2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Naomi’s house is tucked away on a very quiet country road. The house is nicely decorated and well stocked and we had a very nice and active weekend. There is easy access to the Harlem Valley Rail Trail and several bikes and helmets you can use. Communication was quick and easy and Naomi was very helpful. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

    Amit2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay, everything went smoothly

    Amanda2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Naomi's home was a wonderful escape for NYC for my girlfriend and I. It was extremely clean, very simple self-checkin, and had all the amenities we would want. Naomi also took the time to recommend some places to visit and had a lot of materials for things to do in surrounding areas. We really appreciate how ready this place was for airbnb guests, and how accurate the listing is. The screened in sitting area, and the back deck were great places to have morning coffee and soak in nature. Thank you again Naomi! Hoping to be back soon.

    Kristy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had an incredible stay at bettys place, loved the attention to detail. Place itself was perfect, large, clean, comfortable, well decorated. We didn’t want for anything on our little ski weekend. 10/10 would recommend and will be back next season! Can’t beat waking up and having that first sip of coffee on the deck looking over the lake!

    Matthew2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was truly the perfect place for our family of six. The house is incredibly designed and styled. The amenities are endless and that is coming from a mom of 4. We really loved staying here and would gladly become a regular. We were able to ski both butternut and catamount mountains as well as explore plenty. The house is located in a lovely lake setting and leaves endless possibilities for vacation. Our host was in direct and constant communication. She even left us valentine treats which delighted our kids. An A plus plus all around!

    Stella2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is a gem. Our family of four (two kids 9 and 11) had a terrific stay. We would rent this place again. Lots of thoughtful touches and very comfortable beds. Very clean. Beautiful views of the lake and nestled in a great area for hiking, skiing and exploring Hudson and Great Barrington.

    Erin2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • An extraordinarily cozy lakeside retreat -- impeccably fitted out and well kept. Kudos to all!

    Ray2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Betty was a great host and her place was perfect. We will definitely stay here again.

    Barbara2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Six of my friends and I celebrated thanksgiving at this place. Betty was an amazing host! Extremely responsive. The house was clean and well taken care of! There was a bottle of wine and some homemade chocolates she put out for us in the welcome packet! Everything was well thought of. Each and every drawer was named as to what it contained! Each switch in the house had a cute little label which told exactly what it was. These small details go a long way! The bathrooms were clean equipped with necessities and towels. The kitchen had all the necessary equipments, we know because we used a lot of it since we cooked at home most of the time. The house is next to a lake, so beautiful views from the house! Betty was responsive throughout our stay and gave good recommendations in and around the place. She also made sure we were well aware of the weather on the day we were leaving so we wouldn’t be stuck on icy roads. We had a wonderful stay there and will definitely be back in the summers!

    Anuja2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Dear Betty, Thank you so much for your hospitality. You are the first host that made our stay so comfortable and cozy. • Betzie’s place was perfect for our small family’s autumn getaway in Columbia county. The loft is like a secret garden, tucked into a beautiful landscape. We loved the thoughtful touches, Betzie’s artwork, and peaceful night’s sleep. So glad we got to chat with Betzie on our way out! Great place to stay.

  • Kim's house was perfect for our family. My 2 year old loved getting eggs from the chicken coup, wandering the garden and tending to Bonnie, the house cat. Millerton was very close and a cute little town. Orrin is a sweet man and we will definitely return!

    Alyson2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Kimberly's house was wonderful. The house is extraordinarily comfortable and clean with many much appreciated touches. The grounds were impeccable and the flowers in the garden a revelation.

    Marilyn2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful cottage with very prettily decorated, comfortable rooms and lots of space to stretch out. The garden was a riot of flowers when we stayed, and it's in a gorgeous, remote-feeling spot in the hills not far from Millerton.

    Kirsten2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The house and location are beautiful. We had a big family reunion and rented it as a guest house for our out of town family. It was perfect. It was really hot those days and the ac units kept the house comfortable. Nice bedrooms and bathrooms. Spacious, very clean and well kept. They loved the cat, gardens and quite. We would definitely recommend and rent it again.

    Erin2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely country home in Millerton, NY. So much to do in the area. Rudd pond is down the road and Taconic State Park is a short drive away. If you're looking for a quiet, charming and peaceful home to relax, this is it. We will be returning!

    Ryan2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Kimberley’s place. The house was spacious and very clean. A large and well appointed kitchen. A great screened in porch and outdoor seating area. We met the horse (Seth) and donkey (Dusty) and had fresh eggs from the chickens for breakfast on our last day. Millerton is a short drive away with good restaurants and a great cafe and diner. Highly recommended.

    Andrew2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house is charming. Everything is sparkling clean and kept up nicely. The décor is lovely and warm. The flowers and shrubbery surrounding the house have received loving care. It is a little off the beaten path so it is nice and quiet, but very close to Lakeville and Millerton (5 - 10 min) so it is easy to pop in for restaurants. Kim's dad was there for check in - a sweet, delightful man. We all enjoyed meeting him. I hope to stay here again when I am in the area!

    Chacea2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a great house in a beautiful setting, away from it all, this is the place for you! Orrin, our host met us in person upon our arrival and he and Kimberley were very reachable by email or phone. Other than a the random passing of a distant car or the baas of Orrin’s sheep the only sound we heard were the sounds of nature and your own voices! A great and relaxing time was had by all. Even in the rain it was gorgeous! Easily sleeps 3 couples or a group of friends! Orrin even offered to make us a bonfire! A wonderful getaway! LOVED it and would def return.

"The Gray Door" is a new addition to our Air BnB listing!! A private wing in our house surrounded by garden rooms, this 3 room apartment with it's own private entrance features: a patio, a fully functioning kitchen, one bedroom with a full size bed and your own private bathroom. Parking is included and plowed in winter. The apartment is peaceful and light-filled...A perfect cozy retreat, minutes to great hiking, swimming, beautiful walks, and bike riding!
  • We stayed at Betzie's for one night, and it was great. It was very clean, and just what we needed for quick stopover upstate.

    Abigail2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Grey Door is a tiny little studio space, that has most that you will need for a short stay. The bathroom is large, though do know that the kitchen and bedroom are a bit tighter in space for 2 people, though certainly doable. We also were able to stay our 2nd night in the Loft space that is listed separately. Betzie and Keith's land, and both Airbnb spaces, are special! We really felt like we were among artists through the touches in the spaces and in the outdoor space (including Betzie's art on the walls). In addition, Betzie was responsive, gave us a suggestion for dinner, and w just so warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend them, and both their spaces. Thank you, Betzie and Keith!

We loved the renovated, yet rustic feel of the home. The beds were clean and comfortable. Amazon firestick with Hulu and Netflix was an extra convenience.

  • We spent a long weekend at Alexa's place, and it couldn't have been better! The historic home has been lovingly renovated with a modern kitchen and lots of great design touches. Our stay coincided with a nasty nor'easter, but we were happy to barely leave the snug and cozy home for the few days we were in Ancram. Comfy beds, plenty of soft blankets to snuggle with on the couch, and we took advantage of having easy access to any streaming service we wanted to watch. We ventured out to buy ingredients from the nearby Herondale farm store -- fresh meat & bread & veggies & cheese -- and had everything we needed in the well-equipped kitchen to whip up a farm-to-table feast. Great location, great home.

    Jessica2018-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Alexa's! Cozy, stylish home with nice amenities. The tips were helpful, and loved dog friendly vibe. Alexa was also very responsive. Highly recommend.

Comfortable house with great views – for wiling away the time sitting on the porch or on the lawn staring out at the views or exploring the area which includes a lot of nature and quaint towns, cultural offerings, and more.
The house is located on the side of a mountain (Brace Mountain) about 5 minutes north of Millerton, NY. One can hike or bike out the door and find a trail within a few minutes. About 5 minutes away is Rudd Pond rec area, which is a small lake with an artificial beach that is nice for kids. About 15 minutes away is Bash Bish Falls (in Massachusetts)--about a 30 minute hike to the falls on a good trail. The Harlem Valley River Trail offers great paved trails free of traffic for biking, running and walking. There are various sports opportunities in the area (such as paragliding just 5 minutes away...or you can just watch the paragliders from the house). In addition, there are a lot of wonderful towns nearby--Millerton, Hillsdale, Great Barrington (and other Berkshires towns in Massachusetts), Hudson, Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Salisbury and Lakeville, etc. Great restaurants in most towns (many farm-to-table). Lot of farm stores, horse farms, etc. Cultural opportunities in the area include Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Clark Museum, Wassaic Project, museum and performances at Bard College, etc. For kids, in addition to the possibilities above, there is the Trevor Zoo (at the Millbrook School), farms to visit, and much more.
Millerton is a nice village, but there are a lot of other quaint towns and villages nearby as noted below (with their range of restaurants). Plus there is plenty of nature too. * Hiking/Walking/Nature – Bash Bish Falls (http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/western/bash.htm), Harlem Valley Trail (http://hvrt.org/), Rudd Pond (http://www.nysparks.com/parks/141/details.aspx), Taconic State Park (part of which is literally in our backyard - http://nysparks.com/parks/83/details.aspx) – all within about 15 minutes from the house * Towns – Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Hudson, Great Barrington (in MA Berkshires), Lakeville and Salisbury, CT…with lots of nice restaurants in those towns and others * Culture – Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Clark Museum, Wassaic Project, nearby colleges with museums and performances * Wineries – Millbrook Winery (www.millbrookwine.com/); Cascade Mountain Winery (including tastings, music on Sunday -- http://www.cascademt.com/); Tousey Winery (http://www.touseywinery.com/)

  • We LOVED this home - it was super comfy for our family - everything from our morning coffee and hikes to evening board games in the family room after a nice meal in town. Cant wait to come back and visit!

  • The house was very clean and stylish. The hosts were very responsive, polite and have clear instructions. We agree with previous guests that the photos do not do this house justice! They need more photos of the cute details hidden in each room. There is a lot of natural light, and a refined sense of coziness that feels very welcoming. We were six adults and 2 kids and it was great to have enough dishes and seats to celebrate Thanksgiving altogether around one big table. Kids loved the toys and the books and had a blast playing with the toy kitchen. The rooms were far enough apart to offer privacy. It took us a day to optimize the heating situation but that was on us as we didn't know how the house had separate heat regions. Great natural walks nearby as well. Overall, we had an amazing time with our friends. We would totally come back again another time as it's an easy place for New York/Boston groups to meet.

    Anna2018-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our team has stayed at David's place for three years in a row, and every time the communication and hospitality has been wonderful. We enjoy the home and location, and look forward to staying there every time we're in town. Thank you again David!

  • We had a fantastic time and hope to rent the house again. The design was gorgeous, location perfect, and grounds stunning. All the extra touches such as hand soap, nice towels and sheets were noticed and appreciated. Best Airbnb we’ve ever rented!

  • Stefan and Mark's place was incredibly lovely. The house is decorated tastefully and is quite comfortable. But the stand-out aspect is the land the house sits on. The property is gorgeous - everywhere you look is picturesque. We traveled with our toddler who spent hours running and biking around. A five minute walk takes you up a hill to a beautiful vista of the catskill mountains and surrounding countryside. Stefan was really kind and gave us lots of local tips. Highly recommended!

  • Thank you so much for the wonderful stay in your house Glad we could experience also the garden house for our retreat team. The nature and atmosphere created ist so serene and peaceful that we will turn Picardy farm - valley and view- into our place to meet for our NY yoga and meditation retreats. Many thanks to all that were of wonderful support during our stay. Birgit and team.

  • A wonderful rustic country getaway. So peaceful and the main living room with the exposed beams really helped me feel like I was in Upstate New York country. Grounds were well maintained and bed comfortable. Hope to come back for a longer stay soon and bring some friends with me.

  • Great property, very magical! The furniture is very tasteful and with attention to detail. This Farm is a charming place to relax and enjoy nature. Everything was wonderful. I would definitely love to stay again!

  • Exceptional house and property! We came to spend the 4th with my in-laws and visit friends nearby. I was struck by the tranquil setting and how charming this attached garden unit was. We didn't take advantage of all the amenities and serene surroundings, but I'm sure if we had more time we would have. Stefan was great to coordinate with, and very generous and accommodating with our needs. If you're interested in a tranquil weekend getaway from the city, with ideally 4-6 people, I would think this has to be one of the best options in the region. Excited to come back again!

  • I don't think I've written a review on Air BnB before, but this experience compelled me to do so. Mary's home is absolutely stunning. It is far and away the best location we've stayed at using this site. From the house itself, to the touches within, to the incredible property, it's truly a jewel and not to be missed. If you are looking for beautiful location with all the amenities you could possibly want with the privacy of an Upstate stay, this is it. We also appreciated all the kid-friendly touches - dishes, a monitor, a crib, white noise machine, etc. We'll be back!

  • We stayed here with a group of 10 friends and it was absolutely perfect. Beautiful house, plenty of beds, gorgeous views, and lots of space. The owners were great--responsive and helpful. I highly recommend this house.

  • Mary’s place is a perfect getaway for a large group. The setting is spectacular and the house is comfortable and thoughtful and cozy. Just a heads up that the basement apartment has no bathroom. Mary is super helpful and a great communicator. Would definitely go back in every season!

  • Fantastic house with gorgeous views of hills and the Berkshire Mtns in the long view. Relaxing in spaces easy to share with multiple guests. We had a marvelous experience. Recommend you cater at Platters in Pine Plains so you can just enjoy the ambience. Food is great and they deliver.

  • The farmhouse and property are beautiful, very well taken care of and private - everything we looked for in a weekend getaway. Mary is very responsive and an excellent host. We would certainly look to make a return trip!

    Gregory2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very cool and quirky. The property is absolutely amazing, its beautiful, well manicured, and private. I'm not sure if this is something I failed to read in the description but it is worth noting that there was another couple who rented out another space on the property which shared the same driveway and patio that the house did, although the couple was very nice, we did feel a bit awkward being outside in case we disturbed the other guests. Overall beautiful house and location and Mary is a wonderful host, who was quick to answer any questions we had.

    Maggie2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Mary’s farmhouse is truly spectacular! Mary is a wonderful and welcoming host, with very useful tips of the area. I look forward to coming back!

  • I have been spending new year holidays at Beth’s house. It’s an amazing place. Great hospitality, beautiful house. I really enjoyed staying over there. I would definitely recommend this house!

  • Beth’s home is gorgeous and cozy. It was a comfortable stay, and I would absolutely return.

    Elatia2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Beth's place. It definitely felt like a retreat from the city and was nestled among trees which made it feel pleasantly removed while still being easily accessible. Beth was easy to coordinate with and very quick to respond. We'd stay again!

    Julia2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This house is lovely, very pretty, nicely decorated, clean and relaxing and Beth is a great responsive host! It was great to be here in the summer - so many great places to swim near by including the town pool across the road! Beth was very helpful!

    Laurel2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet and serene, perfectly private, and a large, generous space. Thank you, Beth!

  • Beth sent her friend to help us check the bathroom while she was in Paris. Thank you for the help.

    Tong2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very peaceful, clean, comfortable lovely home. Beautiful open kitchen and large dining room table, comfortable beds. Great information on how to find the place from Beth, if you follow GPS, it says you have arrived when you are about a thousand feet away. A lovely quiet setting in a beautiful area.

    Elizabeth K.2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, quiet house, if you or a a family are interested in a mellow Hudson Valley vacation. There were shelves with books, just the perfect toys for our boy -- waterguns and hot wheels cars, and games -- and a backyard to run around in. The master bedroom seems newly renovated, the kitchen has all the mod cons. Only thing to be aware of the water has a sulphurous smell, apparently an issue with the area, but Beth told us about that and left several gallon jugs of bottled water. There is also no AC, I think, and one of the bedrooms is a bit stuffy, but that's all I can complain about. Beth was a pleasure to work with, left all kinds of nice touches like shampoo and fridge basics. We would definitely stay there again.

Imagine a country lodge straight out of the pages of a great novel. Rustic chic combines with modern amenities in The Lodge, where vaulted ceilings, hunting trophies, and glowing wood floors convey warmth, luxury, and a sense of rural history. The outdoorsy visitor is at home amidst the elk heads and bear skins, and anyone fond of elegant country life. Wrapped around by a wooden deck with views. Sit under the wisteria-draped pergola to watch the sun go down or gather around the huge fire-pit
The Lodge’s interior lacks nothing in convenience and luxury. An exquisite kitchen has every amenity and thoughtful detail, including marble countertops, a double side-by-side freezer/refrigerator (each full-size), a plumbed stove, and warming oven. In the great room, enjoy a roaring fire in the stone fireplace and relax on long winter evenings. The master en suite bedroom opens to the outdoors and western views of the distant Catskills. The bathroom is sky-lit, with a freeform shower, full tub, and flawless tile detailing. Three additional bedrooms downstairs all include televisions, and are tasteful, welcoming, and comfortable.
The Hudson Valley boasts one of the longest fall foliage seasons in the country. The autumn colors paint the entire valley with rich warmth from September deep into October. When the winter snows fall across the landscape, take out your snowshoes and experience the drifting silence of the woods under its white mantle. Set on 700 acres of woods, farmland patchwork, and meadows, with views to the mountains, The Lodge puts its guests within easy distance of skiing, hiking, and fishing, as well as museums, historic sites, and fine restaurants.

I have moved to a 7 day reservation. There will be three days between each reservation. I will be cleaning the apartment at the end of each stay and then allowing 48 hours to pass before the next guest uses the space. There is a separate entrance to this apartment. Three bedroom home part of a former 1960 dairy barn. A multi activity site: Art gallery, Art studios, Part of an organic farm, Pond to swim in, Horses to visit, Great kitchen, Outdoor patios, Near rail bike trail
  • Our stay at Henry’s art barn was magical and magnificent! We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting for our family reunion in NY! So very peaceful and inspiring!

    Jay2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very unusual and enchanting property in a lovely, bucolic area. Henry is an excellent host - responsive and helpful. The apartment is near a great paved rail trail and very nice hiking areas. The town of Millerton has a number of wonderful restaurants. If we lived closer, we would visit all the time.

  • Very relaxing and charming place.

    Sophie2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Henry’s home exceeded our expectations and then some. To say this place is gorgeous is an understatement. So enchantingly beautiful, unique, and elegant. Places like these are the reason that Airbnb exists. Henry went above and beyond to make this your home away from home, and it shows in every last detail. There’s every amenity you can imagine and then some. Textbook perfect for absolutely anyone. You will never want to leave (we definitely did not). Henry is a remarkable host. His recommendations are of the highest level of expertise. Every place we tried was quality. On top of that, he was incredibly responsive and answered all of our questions. Can’t wait to come back again (a matter of when, not if!).

    Alexandra2019-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is an entirely magical experience. Henry's art studio and custom made home are a perfect place for rest, contemplation, exploring rural and small-town New York State, and making friends with oneself all over again. The description is very accurate. This is a beautifully designed home inside an old barn that Henry has also turned into his art studio. His unique and beautiful art is displayed throughout the home, the kitchen is fantastic, and the sleeping and living quarters are very adequate and quite beautiful. If you're looking for a quiet time away, or a bit of time on the ski slopes, then this is a perfect spot for you. You won't be disappointed and I recommend it highly.

    Gina2018-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time staying at Henry’s barn. This is a very special place that is even nicer than on pictures and made for a perfect comfy fall weekend. The place was spotlessly clean and warm and very well equipped. The surroundings are beautiful too. Communication was very easy and Henry checked on us regularly while leaving us all the space we needed. We will definitely be back !!!

Available starting August 2020 for monthly rentals (inquire about shorter stays). Enter the gates of this painstakingly reimagined Hudson Valley dairy farm and a sense of calm will overtake you. Boasting endless, panoramic views (among the best in the Hudson Valley) of the Taconics to the east and the Catskills to the west, with big-sky sunrises and sunsets to dazzle you, this setting is pure magic.
The Outside To the east is a large, professionally-treated verdant lawn, a pond encircled by a walking trail, a large firepit by which to enjoy star showers, and prolific apple trees (yes, we make apple cider). To the north you will enjoy the timeless visual of a large barn punctuated by the quintessential silo. To the west is a meadow with wildflowers, walking trails, and a resting vista ideal for sunsets. Also on the west side of the house is a private, outdoor shower and a large, equally private antique limestone patio for grilling, entertaining, or relaxing. To the south are views of cascading, rolling hills as far as the eye can see, with hundreds of acres of protected farmland in the foreground. Two decks enhance the viewing experience. Surrounding the house in all directions are decades-old flower gardens. As of Spring 2020, the property will include an 18x40ft new gunite pool. The pool will be optimally located to leverage the tranquility. The Inside The house is a historic, well-preserved 1850’s Hudson Valley farmhouse with a thoughtfully repurposed 19th-century Dutch schoolhouse, post and beam addition. The addition - replete with original siding, hand-hewn beams, artistic light fixtures and limestone foundation - makes for an authentic yet rustic chic experience. The great room has a 30ft floor to ceiling limestone fireplace – an old-school, handcrafted masonry marvel – that serves as a mesmerizing focal point. Flowing from the open floor plan is a gourmet kitchen armed with four ovens, an island with breakfast bar, and soapstone counters. The second floor loft houses the office and master bedroom/bath with large glass shower and walk-in cedar closet. All windows have been cleverly positioned to bring the outdoors inside. Heading into the original farmhouse you will find an inviting dining room with farm table (custom-made from the original Dutch schoolhouse materials) that seats 6+ and bar. Next is a den/extra bedroom with full bath and library on the ground floor, and 2 bedrooms sharing a full bath with separate shower and antique claw-foot soaking tub on the second floor. The addition and original farmhouse have been designed to flow seamlessly while offering the advantage of distinctly private sleeping quarters. The house and property have been impeccably maintained by the full-time owners for over fifteen years. A rare rental experience a mere 2.5 hours from NYC, it is being listed for the first time on Airbnb. We are intent on becoming Super Hosts as soon as possible, as we previously were with another property. We are also interested in sharing our home with guests that will both enjoy and respect it for the one-of-a-kind sanctuary for all seasons that we so cherish.
The property enjoys the best of both worlds – an immensely tranquil and private setting minutes from Millerton NY and Lakeville/Salisbury/Sharon CT. Within 20-60 minutes is skiing at Catamount, Mohawk, Butternut, Jiminy Peak, and Hunter Mountain. Even closer is the Appalachian Trail, lakes, x-country skiing and snowshoeing, the Rail Trail and countless country road biking routes. Multiple day and boarding camps are also minutes away, as are several of New England’s finest prep schools. Metro-North’s Wassaic train station is 15-20 minutes away.
