Let’s do a photoshoot at sunrise or sunset amongst the cherry blossoms! The prettiest time in DC is around the cherry blossom festival - so book a photoshoot to celebrate! Families, couples, groups, or singles welcome! It can be for any occasion - a family trip, an engagement, an anniversary, or you just want some professional photos documenting your time in DC. We will meet in the tidal basin at sunrise to get some amazing photos of you and your group. It's the best time in the city while it is quiet, and less people are out and about. The photoshoot is usually between 1-1.5 hours. We will chat beforehand about best attire, location, and style of photoshoot you are looking for. I’ll walk you through the whole process and make sure I know exactly what your vision is for the photoshoot. Within a few days, you’ll have an online gallery to download or print any photos you like from the session. 2024 DC Cherry Blossom Photoshoot
This unique one-of-a-kind experience is perfect for DMV locals and those of you visiting DC for the first (or second) time for the Cherry Blossoms. This is a 1:1 Experience that is either an individual photoshoot or a group session. Group rates (2 or more) differ from individual. Message me with any questions. We will walk to my favorite forested bloom spots around the city. Will take portraits and wide shots of everything pink from magnolias (my fave) to sakura flowers. Bring comfy shoes and one wardrobe change for variety. I will take both photos and short clip videos so you have content for social media. Peak season typically starts mid-March through mid-April with different hues of pink blooms, but the start and end times of the season will vary depending on the weather. There are barbie pink blooms in April that take place after peak bloom in the March season that lasts for two weeks. Besides the Tidal Basin, there are other worthy areas off the beaten path to visit for colorful IG-worthy photos. I will be at your service capturing you in front of DC cityscapes, Monuments, or nature whether it's for social media, the web, or not. We'll take a tour of historic Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, the hometown of George Washington, and a center of the American Revolution. And take in a bunch of Civil War history along the way. We might visit a church from 1776 that contains the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the American Revolution. The home of the mentor of Patrick Henry ("Give me liberty or give me death!") We'll discuss the enslaved woman who irked Martha Washington, and why George decided to free his slaves. We'll see the home of Washington's doctor, where we'll discuss the ill-fated remedies used at the time of GW's death. Civil War sites will include the site of the Appomattox statue, the locale of a fiery skirmish between Union troops and Confederate sympathizers, and the workplace of a famous rebel spy. Also, the market place where Washington lost a fist fight! And the place of GW's mysterious lady friend. As well as the meeting hall where George Mason composed the Bill of Rights to the U.S. Constitution. The townhouse of GW's older brother Lawrence. The mansion where GW helped plan the French and Indian War. The tavern where he held his inaugural ball. And his townhouse away from Mt. Vernon, & more! Kayak to the National Arboretum
Meet at Bladensburg Waterfront Park 15 minutes before departure to talk and outfit before we paddle a couple of miles down to the National Arboretum (part of the USDA's park and research gardens in Washington, D.C. ). If you are game, we'll take trash bags with us to collect any floating debris. Once docked, enjoy conversation and company as we enjoy the Arboretum gardens. Your guide(s) will also share stories about the Anacostia and its surroundings, including the story of The Peace Tree (1625), which survived 1945 Hiroshima, Japan, and was later gifted to the Arboretum. About 2-3 hours of time in the kayaks. Total experience is 4.5-5 hours. Price includes kayak rental and gear, lovely picnic lunch (at 11:30ish), pleasant company, story time, and peaceful/relaxing sights and sounds. Before we head to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, we will make a bathroom stop for all those who might need it. Then, we will continue on to the Lincoln Memorial (a personal favorite) and finally end our tour with the Korean War Verterans Memorial. Throughout this tour, guests will be encouraged to participate. I will pose a few DC-specific trivia questions that will keep you engaged and whose answers will come into as the tour progresses and your knowlegde of DC grows.
