“Located in the picturesque village of Valle Crucis, North Carolina, Over Yonder tells the story of historic Appalachian cuisine from Chef Andy Long. Over Yonder opened in June of 2014 in the former homestead of the Taylor Family, one of the founding families of Valle Crucis. Our mission is to interpret classic Appalachian food in a modern yet casual way, and we do this by sourcing the best product we can and then doing our best not to screw it up. Everything is scratch-prepared, or as we like to call it, "done the hard and stupid way", and we believe if you give it a try you will taste the difference. ”

“It's a cute little coffee shop/café/restaurant combo. If you like the quieter side, The Lodge is where you want to be. If you have a large group and/or like to be where the action is, opt for The Café. You can order from both menus no matter where you're seated. The gyros and the pizzas are delicious!”

“Small lunch place in a small strip mall along the road. Easy to miss. But DON'T! Oh my. The man knows how to cook AND bake. My favorites are the pan fried trout on a bed of roasted potatoes, vegetables, and apples. And the pies. All of them (OK, the buttermilk pie and the bakewell tart have a special place in my heart).”

“I don't know how this place has eluded The Food Network! Hands down, my favorite pizza and bakery. It is a tiny hole in the wall that is off the beaten path in Roan Mountain. If I were abandoned on a deserted isle and had one food to live off of for the rest of my life I would choose their lemon-blueberry bread. Yummo!”
