Enjoy our comfortable cabin situated on 20 private wooded acres near several trout streams, George Washington National Forest, Virginia Game Commission, hiking trails, and caves. The cabin sleeps four, including a double bed and two twin beds in the loft. For skiing we are 1 hour and 30 minutes from snowshoe and 30 minutes from The Homestead. For fishing we are 5 minutes away from the Bullpasture, 10 minutes from the Cowpasture, and 25 minutes from the Jackson river.
You will enjoy nature as it was meant to be...near primitive. There is no running water or electricity. However, there is a wood stove for heat and cooking, 7 gallons of water (more if you need it), Coleman stove, outdoor grill, all cooking and eating utensils, shower bag, outdoor shower, outhouse, bed linens, and nature's wonders. We provide firewood for the indoor wood stove but not for the outdoor fire pit. There's plenty of deadwood and downed limbs to collect on the property for the outdoor fire. If you stay an extended period we will replenish the water and the firewood.
We are located in the heart of several stocked trout streams, cave sights, and public forest. In March the annual Highland County Maple Festival is just 30 minutes away.
  • I dont know if it's possible to find words to describe our little weekend stay in this little gem of a cabin. If you're looking to reconnect with loved ones, reset your mind and just take a break from technology and all the noise it brings to your life and truly be in the moment and enjoy it, then this cabin is for you. It truly has everything you need, and a fire had been started already which was the best feeling walking into on such a chilly day. There is so much to do there, that we didnt get to do everything we had intended to. At the end of our stay, we didnt want to leave, and neither did our pups! I assure you that we will be using this cabin again in the future. It was absolute perfection.

  • This is a very special place, and provides an ideal combination of getting away, simplifying and "roughing it while also being very well equipped in a way that makes it feel more like part roughing it and part being pampered in very cozy, iconic log cabin that has everything you need. My two sons and I still never forget our stay and we hope to get back.

  • Second time coming and was a good time as expected! Great weekend getaway

  • We had a great time this past weekend. Cabin has a touch of modern to it and the property is nice and quiet. Highly recommend if your looking to get away for a few days.

  • This cabin was wonderful! I was a bit nervous about finding the airbnb since cell phone signal drops about 30-45 minutes away from the property, but we had no problems using the map in the airbnb app to find our destination. The cabin had pretty much all the amenities we could want. The only thing that was missing was a dish rag or sponge, which made washing pans a little tricky. There are excellent fishing spots about a 5 minute drive from the property stocked with trout. The coleman grill was great, and the cabin was stocked with pots, plates, and cooking ware. As a side note, if you are bringing a car without 4-wheel drive, you may have difficulties getting up the hill the leads to cabin. This was totally our fault, but we got stuck on the driveway for about 25 minutes :-D

  • We had planned to go camping but the temps were supposed to get into the low 30s and we were worried about our girls (4 and 7) getting too cold so at the last minute, we searched for an alternative. This cabin was perfect. With no running water or electricity, in some ways it was more rustic than a campground, but the wood stove kept us toasty warm. We loved the peacefulness. The girls were nervous at first about the steep ladder upstairs but ended up really enjoying the loft. Because it was a last minute trip, we didn't really know what we were going to do and I didn't realize that there would be no phone service anywhere in the surrounding area so although I had read about hiking and other activities before we left, I couldn't access that information once there. We managed to have fun poking around but if I came that way again, I would be a little more prepared.

    Shannon2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is quiet and peaceful. The cooking stove was a nice touch. Everything you could need for living off the grid!

  • My first thought WOW! Amazing view with lots of land and a farm with horses. She provided great local trips, trails and events around the area. Outstanding hospitality. If we needed anything she would provided. Our stay was better than I imagined. We will be coming back soon!! I HIGHLY recommend.

  • This is really a great spot - close to Warm Springs and some great dining options, close to various beautiful hikes and fishing, and peaceful and quiet without feeling isolated. The cabin is quite comfortable and clean - comfy bed and linens, clean bathroom, full kitchen, cozy furniture, and a beautiful view of the property and mountains, especially from the large back porch. The host was welcoming and informative without being intrusive. The only possible drawback for some people might be the lack of reliable cell phone service, but that's generally an issue everywhere in this area considering the mountainous terrain; personally, I consider it an added benefit. We'll definitely go back!

    Eric2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to relax and unplug! The grounds are beautiful and the cabin was very clean & comfortable. We will definitely be back!

    Amber2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a wonderful getaway. The cabin has a warm feel and there's a chimnea, chairs, and a hammock outside. We also hiked the Witch Hazel Loop back in the woods on the property and took pictures of a neat abandoned 47 Chevy truck out there on the trail. There's no TV, internet, or cell signal, but that's one of the things we enjoyed about it. If you do need to use your phone, there is good signal if you drive in to town. Highly recommend this place for some quality time and decompression.

  • Magical place to re-connect with nature and the host will make you feel at home. Just a few days made me feel like a new person. Beautiful area and amaizing view.

    Maria2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Hosts were friendly and awesome guides. Cabin was wonderfully situated with beautiful views, was close to hiking and was well appointed. Will certainly come back!

  • If you want a quiet, peaceful, relaxing getaway place, where you can be alone in a remote location, disconnected from the outside world, this is the place to go! The hosts, Lea and Claudia, went above and beyond to make sure that we felt comfortable, knew what was in the surrounding area and were available if any urgent needs arose. This is a great place for couples to get away, a spiritual retreat, or a best friend’s weekend.

  • This is a wonderful, tucked away vacation spot. Perfect space for two! Having a full size kitchen was very nice. Bathroom with full size tub was lovely, and the loft was just adorable. Stable Internet connection and full size desk if you need to work. Nearby hiking trails were a plus. Beautiful spot to visit in the fall. I would return!

  • You will love this restful and artsy nest with every amenity you need for a terrific stay in or home base for the area adventures ! I have stayed in all the different Meadow Villas at every season. Make this your “go to “ mountain getaway and treat it with love and respect ! Mac said “ It’s like living in a magazine !” Which emulates the fine and tasteful decor and welcoming cozy atmosphere of Treehouse Villa . You don’t want to miss this . We rested from a long driving trip and do recommend the newer brewery in Hot Springs and the yummy food at Les Couchon’s D’Or in Hot Springs . First night takeout from the kind folks at Cuccis close by hit the spot ( chicken parm is great) . The manager / owners have made every effort to provide a wonderful stay for guests !

  • Fern’s place was even better than advertised. A short drive to several food options, a local brewery, and great hiking. The apartment itself, was clean, orderly, and very cozy. I really enjoyed my stay.

    Charles2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fern's place was perfectly located near the Homestead resort, where I was attending an event. For a fraction of the cost of the Homestead, Fern's place is perfect for any trip! Fern is also an accommodating and personable host!

  • Nice place to stay, 5 minutes from the Homestead and Hot Springs if you're looking for less expensive accommodations for a conference. Also close to hiking and fishing locations. Kitchenette if you want to eat in. Cozy, very quiet even though it's on the main road. Fern is very attentive and goes the extra mile to ensure your comfort.

  • I stayed at Fern’s place for 2 nights in order to attend a convention at the Omni Homestead resort. Mitchelltown is a tiny town without any traffic lights right beside Omni Homestead resort in Bath County/Hot Springs. Fern’s place is around 1 mile away from the resort. There is a dollar general right beside, there is a gas station and supermarket in walking distance. You will find food and drink within a mile of distance. Fern has been the greatest host ever. Quick responses to messages, simple instructions, true to the description and very very cooperative. She is caring and has a very motherly kind of love. Fern left me a complimentary bottle of wine and a huge bourbon candy bar in the kitchen. She also owns a massage parlor right on the other side of the street. I happened to know about it and went ahead and got myself an hour of massage. It was probably the most relaxing $65 I spent in my life. If you have time please do yourself a favor and get a massage. I thought I lost my phone but didn’t know where so I texted Fern and asked to keep her eyes out at the massage parlor and she even offered to call the cops and report about my wallet but fortunately I found it. The apartment is very tidy and clean, has thoughtful touch to it. A much larger space than you would find at a hotel. The only thing to note is it is right by the sam snead highway so if you prefer it super quiet at night, you might get bothered by the passing vehicles at night. I played instrumental music throughout the night so it was not an issue for me. Highly recommended for any kind of stay. Hope to visit again!

    Umme2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fern's place at Mitchelltown exceeded our expectations. The decor was lovely, it was more spacious than it seemed in the photos, and it was very clean. The surrounding area is beautiful. Fern was very quick to communicate when we had a question and she had a binder full of information on local restaurants, points of interest, and amenities. She was a great host and my husband and I would definitely stay there again and reccomend the apartment to others.

  • This is a large, comfortable space in the woods, perfect for a quiet getaway. Lots of room to hangout, and gorgeous views of the stars and mountains. It was perfect for our group of ladies traveling for a conference, and we enjoyed being able to unplug and unwind.

  • This house is in a beautiful location! We enjoyed exploring hot springs, warm springs, bacova, lake moomaw. It is easy to make yourself right at home in this house. It is an exceptional value! The hosts are very responsive.

  • Really enjoyable getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The house has a bunch of space and a large basement, and the kitchen is in great shape. The yard is nice and big, and there's a river close by that you can hear from the back porch. As others have said, there's no cell service or WIFI, but it's a 10 minute car ride into town if you're in need of checking messages.

    Ian2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home with warm touches located in a beautiful setting along a creek...just down the scenic road from hiking/fishing at Lake Moomaw, as well as delicious restaurants in Hot Springs and Warm Springs (The Gristmill Inn, Warm Springs was amazing for dinner!).

  • It was very relaxing

    Jacob2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful spot, plenty of room, great value and fantastic proximity to Lake Moomaw. It's the perfect place to unplug, since there's no cell reception and no Wi-Fi, but be forewarned the landline can only make local calls - you'll have to head about fifteen minutes towards the Omni if you need to check in with folks at home. Overall- highly recommended! We plan to come back next year, if it hasn't sold.

  • If any issues arise during your stay then it is a quick and timely fix with one of the neighbors. The future looks even better with a few remodels being complete and a hottub coming soon.

    Conner2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very relaxing and felt very at home here! In the woods and private. The directions and instructions were fantastic and easy to follow. Loved the walk thru some of the property on the trail to the stream. Plenty of movies to watch should you just want to stay in and relax. There was coffee there, bottled water in the fridge and some main necessities like condiments already there in the fridge. Fresh spring water in a huge jug for your coffee and to drink and it is delicious. If your looking for a place where you feel at home and is a bit of a time flashback to some good family times...this is the place. You feel like your family as you are treated as such. The only downside was the small hot water heater. You will certainly want to visit again!

  • Kit & David's cottage was everything we wanted and more. We were able to bring our two dogs along and have a quiet and relaxing long weekend with no agenda. The home is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils and tools you need to cook your meals. We really enjoyed dining out on the screened patio and getting to have a fire by the river. We never left the property during our stay because we were able to get enough walking and exploring in. We truly look forward to returning in the future. Thank you Kit & David!

  • We had a perfect weekend staying at David's place for the Labor Day holiday. If you like fishing, floating the beautiful Cowpasture River, and enjoying happy hour on the screened-in porch, book David's spot right now! David and Kit were so accommodating even providing homegrown tomatoes and fruit when we checked in. This is a perfect outdoors getaway, and would recommend supplying yourself for the whole weekend with groceries and libations since you won't want to leave!

  • This is truly 5 stars across the board. My sons and I stayed at David's cottage for nearly a week and did not want to leave. A+ on personal touches, communication, cleanliness, amenities and all the extras. The river floats in our kayaks were amazing everyday, and soo close to many different river areas. The farm is also beautiful with lots of wildlife, the stars at night were breathtaking. Wifi works well, if necessary, but if you want to get away from the tv and enjoy nature, you cant go wrong here. David is super knowledgable about the area and only a quick text or call away, he was more than happy to assist in any way. Highly recommended, just dont book the weeks we plan to go back! :)

  • A clean, comfortable, inviting house set in a beautiful setting that was perfect for hiking, walking, picnicking, and floats on the river. Screened porch facing the river was a favorite place to relax. Hosts went far beyond expected to make our stay memorable.

House located on farm that adjoins thousands of acres of National Forest. Hiking trails on the property and beautiful places to just sit, relax and enjoy nature. Rooms are in a private wing of the house with a bathroom and laundry room. Each bedroom is one queen size bed so can sleep four people comfortably. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and the living room. There is a rear patio to sit and enjoy the view of the mountains.
There are dog turnouts and we are very pet friendly. Guests are welcome to bring pets as long as they have all their vaccinations. There is also a horse barn with stalls and a riding area for an additional fee if you are trail riding on any of the great riding trails.
We are located just a few minutes from Watoga State Park and Cal Price State Forest. The Greenbrier River Trail and the town of Marlinton are also only a few minutes away. There are so many places to see and things to do in under an hour. Snowshoe Ski Resort, Seneca State Forest, Cranberry Trails, Falls of Hills Creek. Or you can leave the house and hike, run your dog, or ride on trails on our farm.
  • Terrific stay just east of Marlinton. We stayed there the night before a day of skiing in Snowshoe, which is ~ 1 hour away. The home is shared with her father, who is a very kind gentleman. Stephanie was very helpful, and we highly recommend her place.

  • Great space and amazing views, just about an hour drive from Snow shoe. Follow the hosts driving instructions since google maps is not accurate !

  • Great place to stay with an amazing shower and super host!

    John2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay if you plan to hit the slopes at Snow Shoe but don’t want to pay the “village” prices. On the ski lift in 45 minutes. Just make sure you have clear directions to the place. Stephanie gives accurate information. Enjoy!

    Emil2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a nice place to stay tucked back from the road. You have to follow the mailbox numbers by the road as none of my maps were accurate. But the property is pretty, the beds are comfy, and the bathroom is reaaaaally nice.

    Juli2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Stephanie’s place was exactly what we needed after a long day in the mountain; clean, affordable easy to get to. A much better option for those on a budget than the expensive mountain top options.

This old southern plantation home is nestled at the base of the mountains west of Lexington. Only a 15 minute drive in to the town of Lexington. Built in the 1860's, it is brimming with character and country charm. Drink your morning coffee or watch the sunset from the porch swing.
We are back in a quiet lane. It really feels like you're taking a trip to a cabin for the weekend with all the trees and nature. We love how quiet the evenings are, the birds and frogs being the background noise, and the fireflies lighting up the evening in the summer. We often see deer out in the field in the evening, and love to sit and watch them from the porch.
  • Travis & Alyssa's place is cozy and wonderful. They really go above and beyond to make one feel welcome to their gorgeous property!

    Mark2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The room is even homier than pictured! There were personal touches throughout the room which made it such a relaxing getaway. The space was very clean and the hosts went above and beyond to prepare the space for us and communicate their plans.

  • Travis & Alyssa were wonderful hosts!! Their house is beautiful & the guest space was perfect. Very comfy bed, decorated like it was straight out of an HGTV show, very peaceful yard. Loved sitting on the porch in a bathrobe, eating granola & drinking coffee- all of which were set up for us when we arrived. They gave great tips for downtown Lexington, which was a very easy 15 min drive. We can’t wait to come back!! Wonderful experience.

  • David's place was very warm and welcoming. It's in a quiet neighborhood, so definitely a great place to get away from crazy los angeles! We liked the well stocked kitchen and the piano was a great bonus to see. The rooms were comfortable, as well.

    Omar2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • The unit was inviting and true to the pictures and description. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

  • Nice condo. Very clean, cozy. Only 1 TV in the den. Very limited channels. We weren’t actually in the condo except to sleep; in the area for a conference. Waze took us right to it, but it was a little bit hard to find in the dark (Neighborhood has no street lights). Bed on main floor was very comfy. We both slept great and were very well rested. Hosts were quick to respond to the few questions we had while there.

    Wendy2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We have enjoyed our stay at Serinity. We really appreciate David and Daphney for accomodating our request in the last minute. Place itself is great and the apartment is clean and beautiful.

  • Our stay at Serenity was amazing. Everything was perfect. Beautiful, relaxing and spotless. This is a gorgeous location and a beautifully decorated place. We did hear the neighbors a few times, as they had a dog and little children, but it wasn’t a problem overall. We would definitely return and look forward to staying here again.

Come step into serenity in this beautifully antique furnished cabin. The warm welcoming environment allows you to fully disconnect with limited cell service, no WIFI & limited tv. Hike in the National Forest using the National Forest Access road. Bring a book & games. The patio is a great place to relax & enjoy nature. The closest grocery stores are in Churchville, Staunton or Lexington for our fully furnished kitchen. Day trip to the nearby historical towns nearby. No pets. No drones
This remote cabin looks like you have stepped back in time with antiques in every room. Several of the antiques are family heirlooms with great stories behind them.
The cabin is 35 minutes to Churchville, 45 minutes to Staunton, 1 hour to Lexington, and just over 3 hours from DC.
  • We have been exploring the region for a while, and Deerfield is a great valley. Very tranquil, and out standing hiking. There is a fantastic trail just 50 feet from the house. Kitchen was ready to cook, bathrooms were spotless. A great spot for some r and r in nature.

  • Cindys home was just lovely! Such a gorgeous cabin with amazing antiques everywhere you turn situated in the rolling hills of Shenandoah. It feels like you’re a million miles away! Amazing star gazing and some good hikes nearby. Would definitely recommend !

  • There are no words to describe this gem of a place. The cabin is so cozy and authentic... very much reflecting the owner's personal investment and attention to detail. Cindy's hospitality was outstanding going above and beyond.. with many thoughtful offers and tips on areas to visit. Would love to come back. Can't recommend it highly enough.

    Besnik2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy's place is absolutely amazing. Beautiful, quaint and secluded. Just what we were looking for. Cindy was a very gracious host. The cabin was stocked really well. Highly recommended.

  • What a gem! We loved our stay. Really off the beaten path, but that’s what my girlfriend and I needed. Get away from the hustle and grind of our daily life. The house was amazing! New build and so spacious and comfortable. Everything you need! Maybe purchase a hotspot and bring with you. I didn’t mind, but my girlfriend has children so a bit hard for her to communicate with them. Cell signal at bottom of driveway. Staunton was great for nice dinners and a very quaint little town. Did some tubing on the James River and paddle boarding on the Elkhorn Lake. Just a very needed trip and Cindy was great!

    Danny2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was very nice and as described. We loved the cabin . This area is remote and without cell service but we were familiar with the area and already knew this. It is very beautiful and peaceful . The cabin is very private.

    Joyce2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a hidden gem. Out in the country in a forest type setting. The house is so inviting filled with antiques and architectural beauty, The little towns in the area were so fun to explore. You do not have cell phone service or tv. We didn't care but some might.

    Suzanne2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy is a wonderful host. Warm and welcoming. And the cabin and surrounding area is wonderful for a weekend get-away in the mountains - quiet, peaceful, relaxing and rejuvenating.

    C.J.2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Upon entrance to Twin Maples, I said to my daughter, "THIS is why we always look for an airbnb instead of a hotel when we travel!" Our gracious host showed us to the clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated carriage house, which was surrounded by a lovely view of the foothills. There were plenty of amenities, and the bed was comfortable (and I'm picky about beds). I came here to tour colleges with my daughter and I would definitely stay at Twin Maples again.

    Amy2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend & I moved to North Carolina from Pennsylvania & stopped at Twin Maple for the night. It was perfect & have already recommended the place to friends. It was a quick stop but would love the opportunity to spend more time there one day.

    Kimberly2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very spacious and peaceful spot!

    Neil2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay. The spacious unit was just above the garage with gorgeous views of the farm and rural landscape. Inside, the bed and couches were so comfy and full kitchen was appreciated. We had our two pups with us..and they enjoyed meeting the horse on the property as did we. It wad just a 10-15 min drive into downtown Lexington to enjoy its fine restaurants and shop. We would love to return again to Twin Maple and Lexington.

    Phil2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Twin Maple. We were greeted upon our arrival and shown the beautiful apartment. It has a large living space, big bathroom and nice kitchen with lots of cooking utensils. The farm is beautiful and quiet and the view was beautiful. We would definitely recommend Twin Maple and will stay there again when we return to Lexington.

    Therese2019-11-17T00:00:00Z

    Amy2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The owners are very welcoming and left us fresh eggs in the refrigerator when we arrived. They allowed us for an early check in, which was amazing because we had wedding activities to attend that same day. The land is absolutely stunning and was perfect for our dog to run around. Will definitely be choosing Twin Maple if we ever stay in town again!

Originally built in the 1920's and newly renovated in 2018/2019 Acorn cottage is a charming single level, two bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage in the quiet village of Bacova, Va. Centrally located in Bath County, it is minutes away from Lake Moomaw, Warm Springs, Hot Springs and the historic Homestead Resort. (The cottage is 8 miles (about 12 minutes from the Homestead Resort.)
Acorn Cottage is a 1920's cottage which we completely renovated in 2018/2019. We tried to retain as much of the original charm of the cottage as we could while at the same time the modernizing the heating, air conditioning, appliances and accessibility. Each bedroom has an attached bathroom. The cottage has a central heat and air conditioning, tankless water heater, high efficiency furnace with HEPA filter and a back up propane stove. All doorways were widened and the bathrooms are somewhat over sized to accommodate guest who may have issues with mobility.
  • This home is beautiful. It is clean and spacious with comfortable beds. Dana and Tom have thought of everything, down to the smallest details, to make your stay enjoyable and easy. Dana and Tom were very responsive and gracious hosts. We'll be back.

  • Beautiful cottage surrounded by gorgeous mountain views. Dana and Tom have gone above and beyond in making the cottage a comfortable and quiet retreat with all the amenities.

    Lindsey2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Dana and Tom have and maintain a lovely cottage, with everything you need to make you feel like you're at home. It was very clean and cozy, and the location was close enough to Hot Springs where you could easily head into town for a bite to eat, but not so close that it blocks out the stars (of which you can see SO many from the cottage!). As hosts, Dana was very responsive and helpful. We would love to stay here again in the future!

  • This place was perfect. The snowy mountain scenery was dreamlike and we were greeted with hot mulled wine at check-in. Host was very attentive to any traveler’s needs. We attended a wedding at House Mountain Inn which was an easy 5 min drive. Breakfast was amazing by the fireside and our special diets were accommodated for. There was a multitude of birdwatching to be done-wish we could have stayed longer! Thanks!

    Lucy2017-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • A friend and I stayed here for a wedding at House Mountain. Kathy couldn't have been more hospitable. The area around her home is beautiful, with scenic highways, fireflies and trails. She was incredibly generous with her space and we felt very welcome. We had to leave on the early side to drive back to DC (our flights were out of Dulles and Reagan), and she got up with us to make us coffee and packed Thai tea for the road. It was a treat to stay with her and we'd love to come back ^-^.

    Olivia2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a great quiet place in the mountains to watch all the different kinds of birds at the hostess's bird feeders! She is a great hostess and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with her. The bedroom is small with a full sized bed but we were not in the bedroom much. She had all the extra toiletries one could think of-even slippers and a robe to use:)Would go back again.

A queen size bed, large closet, loads of sunshine, and a shared bath are what we offer to begin your adventure in Hot Springs and the surrounding area. Located just two miles from the Omni Homestead Resort, eight miles from the historic Jefferson Pools, sixty minutes from the Greenbrier Resort, and ninety seven minutes from Snowshoe Mountain Resort, you have plenty of options to round out your stay.
Step back in time to a slower way of living. This room comfortably sleeps two in this queen size bed. Views include the front yard and into the back garden space. On rainy days, the sound of droplets on the tin roof will lull you to sleep or you can sit by the window and watch the snow cover the landscape in a dazzling display of white.
We live on route 220, which was the original interstate. The community of Ashwood is a quiet string of houses along this scenic route; you'll get to experience rural living while being close to historic sites like the Omni Homestead, Jefferson Pools, and Warwick Mansion (where Somersby was filmed). If you have Verizon, service is available through most of the county; other carriers have service only around the Omni Homestead. GPS is also hit-n-miss; for our house, look for the Ashwood Farmhouse Lodging sign and park in front.

Private, secluded and peaceful! Wildwood is a 5 acre private retreat. Relax while staying in this 1920's-built home with a modern kitchen (new remodel 2017). We invite you to stroll along the edge of the pond, gaze at the stars and warm up next to the campfire. Our favorite thing -the sound: quieter than you can imagine, louder than you think! Close to Cass Scenic Railroad, Green Bank Observatory and Snowshoe Mountain Resort.
This quiet and private 5 acre property includes a spring-fed pond, several outbuildings and a lot of nature to view - deer are plentiful. The four bedroom house has three bedrooms and two full bathrooms upstairs (one off the master). The fourth bedroom is on the main-level, along with a living room, dining room, modern kitchen, and a half-bath. Wildwood also features a full-length front porch, a 10' x 18' back deck and an open breezeway that connects the main house with a separate apartment (currently not in use).
Pocahontas County is a beautiful place and Wildwood is right in the middle of it! You can be in "Town" (Marlinton) in less than 15 minutes. Marlinton has a vibrant coffee shop (The Dirt Bean, which has great character and AMAZING fish tacos!), a cool arts collective (Pocahontas County Artisan's Co-op) and a great little family-friendly music/theater venue (The Pocahontas County Opera House). To the north of us (a 30 minute or so drive) is the Cass Scenic Railroad and Green Bank which is home to the Green Bank Observatory and the center of the Radio Quiet Zone. Further up the road is Snowshoe Ski Resort, which is a 45 minute drive. If you like hiking and being outdoors (or just taking a beautiful country ride) the Greenbrier River Trail, Seneca State Forest, Watoga State Forest and Monongahela, Washington and Jefferson National Forests are close by. This is a great location!
  • Wildwood was a great stay! Vanessa was a fantastic communicator and check-in was very easy. We would stay again!

  • This was a great big old home place to create families memories. I worried it would be a cold house. But the house was very warm and comfortable, and the temperatures got down to 17 degrees the second night we were there. Wildwood was equipped with everything we needed, And we would definitely enjoy going back in the future. Thank you Vanessa for sharing your house. Cindy Pardue

  • Wildwood was the perfect place to stay during our trip to Snowshoe. It was rather isolated but in the best way; it was peaceful and relaxing. The house has plenty of room for a larger group. Overall, this was a great stay!

  • Kelly and Mike’s place was absolutely incredible. It is so beautiful and the pictures really don’t do it justice. This was our best Air BnB experience to date, and Kelly was an awesome host who thought of everything. The place was sparkling clean and she had a ton of great recommendations about the area. It was great to get as your of their cattle operation as well. We can’t wait to visit again!

    Dylan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful and comfortable mountainside cottage does not disappoint! There are so many small touches that makes it feel like home away from home! The views are magnificent! Wish we could have stayed longer!!

    Lisa2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I just enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing weekend at Kelly's place. Everything was perfect. We grilled a few rib-eyes from their farm that were incredible. If you're looking for an exceptionally nice getaway with nice amenities and a fantastic view, this can't be beat. We hope to come back soon.

  • This was my fiancé and I. Second stay at this air bnb. Kelly is a wonderful host and pays incredible detail to all aspects of hosting. The views are incredible, the proximity to dowtown Lexington, and the seclusion make this a wonderful stay. Expect an clean, cozy, private space. 10/10 would stay here again

    Sam2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • The stay at the cottage was exactly what we hoped. It's a beautiful location, and we loved looking out the window to see the horses just steps away! We would recommend without hesitation.

    Timothy2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay with the best view of the open land and mountains.

    Matthew2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely cottage and the views do not disappoint! Nice and cozy for a weekend away and not too far from downtown Lexington and hiking trails at Natural Bridge state park. Kelly was very communicative and gave us plenty of privacy (though we did enjoy the company of the wandering cows, horses, and cats outside!) We would definitely stay here again: it was a wonderful place to get away and we even had the opportunity to purchase some of the farm-raised meat from the ranch!

    Caroline2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a pleasant surprise! Pictures and words could never describe the breathtaking view of the mountains from this charming, spotless cabin! The added touches were so appreciated and Kelly and Mike were the most gracious hosts ever. Our stay was not long enough and we will return!

Cottage with pool on 300 acres of Blue Ridge Mountains. Amazing privacy and beauty.
This is a luxurious cottage with pool about a 1.5 hour drive from Charlottesville on a 300 acre farm in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Perfect for a romantic weekend or family getaway. The cottage consists of a huge window-filled kitchen/dining/living area, made with the finest materials. The hardwood floors are spectacular rustic oak. The kitchen has the latest appliances and wonderful red granite countertops. The living area has a gas fireplace with HDTV and DirecTV, and a comfortable queen-sized sofa bed. It also includes a bedroom with fireplace, big-screen TV and king-size bed with memory foam mattress. The cottage sits alone in its own valley, and the farm has spectacular hills, meadows, and woods. It features soaring views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with over a mile of border with the beautiful George Washington National Forest. Privacy and intimacy go along with the gorgeous landscape. You will be the only people on the farm. From the entire farm, no other houses are visible, despite the stunning views of 20 miles or more. Dozens of deer make their home on the farm and snack on the apple trees around the cottage. In summer there are cows munching away on the grass. Recreational Equipment: The fishing pond (stocked with catfish, bass and perch) has a paddle boat. Fishing rods available. There is a golf cart and four mountain bikes. There are three kayaks for use on the nearby Cow Pasture River. The kayaks are a short 8' long, so they fit in most cars. There are car racks available to take them to the river. There's a pool right outside your door, via a rather whimsical bridge from the deck to a jumping platform. Do you dare? To give you an idea of how large 300 acres is, it would take you about an hour to walk to the back of the farm. We gladly accept pets. The farm has always had pets, and they love it there. The bathroom has marble floors, ceramic tiles, and a jetted tub with a view of the wilderness. The two-sided deck allows you to sip your morning coffee while looking out over the valley, watching the mist roll through. Sleeping accommodations consist of the king-sized bed in the bedroom, a queen-sized sofa-bed, a self-inflating queen airbed, and three self-inflating twin airbeds (all 22' high), so you can mix and match as needed. Wander the farm to your heart's delight. Swim to your hearts content. Fish in the pond. Check out a nearby river swimming hole right out of Tom Sawyer. Careen about on the mountain bikes or the golf cart.
  • If you’re looking to get away and experience solitude with your friends or loved or even by yourself this is the place to be. Also, there is a lot to check out so you don’t even need to consider leaving the Airbnb. It’s for everything you need!

  • We had a great time despite an issue with the water. Essie and jim are great hosts.

    Ryan2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful few days in the mountains. Not only was there more to do in that we could fit in the two days we were there, everything was better than expected. The pictures do not do the property justice. I took my 12 yr old son and his two friends to celebrate his recent birthday and this cabin and location is perfect for kids and adults alike. To top it all off, Essie was just so incredibly caring and hospitable- we even got a call from her to ensure we had been able to find the cabin and to make sure we didn't have any questions. We will be back for sure!

    Keely2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, secluded place. Great for an activity based get away or a quiet, relaxing break. Cannot recommend this place enough.

    Darrell2019-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful property literally in the middle of a forest. Despite this the facilities are excellent and the golf cart is genius!

    Richard2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at James’s property just after we got married. It was a perfect place for a couple, very secluded and lots of the property to explore. The house is wonderfully cozy, and has everything you would need if you make a trip to grocery store on the way. The king size bed was incredibly comfortable with plenty of pillows. The views are absolutely amazing, and can’t be beat for the price!

The Granary is a charming 2BR/1.5BA getaway nestled in the mountains just minutes from Lexington, VA. It provides a unique and pastoral setting on a historic 100 acre farm. Perfect for up to 6 guests. Idyllic location in the Shenandoah Valley.
The Granary at Owl Moon Farm was originally constructed in the early 1900's and was operated for many years as part of a turn-of-the-century farm. It was completely renovated in 2006 to provide all of the modern comforts and conveniences of a mountain farm retreat, but with its exposed, hand-hewn beams, rough sawn boards, and broad expanses of windows, it retains a unique and historic charm all its own. The Granary comfortably sleeps six people. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed plus, in the great room, there is a queen-size sleeper sofa in addition to a sleeping nook with a twin-sized daybed. One bedroom is located downstairs with an antique queen-sized platform bed, luxury bedding, walk in closet, reading nook and direct access to the private rear deck. The other bedroom is privately located upstairs and features a four poster queen-size bed with luxury linens, antique dressers and walk-in closet. There is a very comfortable queen-size sleeper sofa located in the great room. The sleeper sofa has an extra thick mattress and luxury bedding to ensure a comfortable night's sleep - even for adults! The twin sized day bed with memory foam mattress is located in a sleeping alcove of the great room and is great for kids. If you are traveling with an infant, we can also provide a crib with an organic cotton mattress and sheets - just give us a few days advanced notice. Located on the main floor, the full bathroom features a one-of-a-kind shower/tub combination, antique marble sink, radiant panel heating and a high efficiency washer and dryer. The kitchen is large, bright and fully equipped with a coffee maker, toaster, microwave and gas range. We provide locally roasted gourmet coffee, an assortment of teas, creamers and sweeteners, including local organic honey. There is a sun-filled dining nook with views of two of the smaller pastures and an historic barn from the built-in seating under the antique bay windows. The living area is a spacious great room with vaulted 20' ceilings and original exposed post and beams. Free WiFi, Smart TV, Blu-ray player, DVD collection, numerous games, puzzles and books are also provided. The spacious and private deck overlooks a rock-strewn stream. There is a stainless steel gas grill for your use and plenty of seating for relaxing, star-gazing and listening to the calls of the many owls that make their home in the surrounding forest. Location: The Granary is nestled on the southern slope of Hogback Mountain between two ridges and is privately situated on a 100 acre working farm with barns, woods, fields and meadows. Besides the sheep, goats and chickens, our farm is home to abundant wildlife including turkey, grouse, deer, bear, hawks and numerous regional and migrating birds. The Granary is perfectly situated to serve as your home base as you explore the Shenandoah Valley and area attractions. It is only 15 minutes from the Virginia Horse Center and just 9 miles from downtown historic Lexington, Washington & Lee University and the Virginia Military Institute. The Humphrey's Gap entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway is approximately 25 minutes away via US 60. Becky, Tripp and their children live on the farm, but The Granary is secluded from the main house. We love the pastoral seclusion of our farm. However, we are less than 15 minutes from the historic city of Lexington where there are several fine dining restaurants, excellent diners and cafes and even a couple of local coffee roasters and microbreweries. We feel very fortunate to be a part of a thriving small American town and community. This property cannot accommodate parties or large groups.
The Granary is located off a gravel road, about 5 minutes from Interstate 64 West.
  • Great location on a farm with animals. Two full/queens but a small kid bed for the third bed. If you just need to sleep it’s great but if you’re a tall adult not so much. Overall great cozy place :) would love to visit again.

  • This is a great cabin tucked into a mountain hollow. The cabin was very room and sparkling clean. They had everything we needed and it was a great place to getaway for the weekend. A wonderful country get away. I would recommend this stay for anyone. Thanks for the hospitality!

  • What a great place! Well appointed and spotless. Tripp and Becky cannot be more accommodating!

    Jim2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Tripp and Becky's place. It suited our family of five perfectly for a wedding weekend in Lexington, VA. Beautiful location, lovely design touches, everything sparkling and welcoming. We recommend it to one and all! And we also recommend spending time outside around the farm and country roads nearby. Really fun to walk by the chickens and sheep and their guard-dogs and watch the sun rise or set on the mountains in the distance.

  • Great experience with nature and animals

    Connie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolute jewel in the heart of one of the most beautiful places in Virginia. A perfect place for relaxing, visiting with friends and family or just hanging out. There is easy access to Lexington, the place was sparkling clean and had a wonderful modern vibe to it. Well stocked and beautiful kitchen. We loved how quiet it was in the evening and especially loved our welcome by the beautiful and friendly doggies!

    Teresa2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at the Granary - such a beautiful farm. After the cozy fall weekend there, our two-year-old daughter kept calling it "the big warm house" because it was so nice to relax there, stay warm, and soak in the leaves changing colors. Everything was wonderful and easy: great hospitality, communication, and easy check-in/check-out. We were there for an event in Lexington and going back and forth between the Granary and the areas downtown around W&L and VMI was all very easy and accessible, about 15 min by car. We would love to visit again sometime in the near future! We have never seen so many stars, and it was a wonderful quiet retreat from our day to day. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

  • Work takes me to the Homestead quite a bit, but I was a little over paying the resort prices, even if the company was paying the bill. Jennifer's house was perfect. Comfortable bed, good wi-fi, nice living room space to relax after a long day. If you're staying for leisure, it's close to everything you need at the resort. Will book again and recommend to co-workers when needing a place to stay in Hot Springs without the hassle of the resort.

  • Stayed here and drove to snowshoe for snowboarding. Great little spot, definitely off the beaten path, but it was a nice break. I didn’t realize there wasn’t WiFi, but I enjoyed getting to unplug! Great place, neat area

    Kyla2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! Fantastic value. The view is awesome from the front porch. There was a house next door, but didn’t look like anyone lives there so we had the space to ourselves. Short walk down to the river where we did some fishing. And we did some hiking in the backyard, which is a national forest. Very clean and homey cabin. Highly recommend it.

  • My family and I enjoyed a weekend at this cabin. It is clean, well kept, cozy, well stocked with items you may forget or didn't think of, and in close proximity to local attractions. For example, Lake Moomaw is a short drive away where you can swim, fish, and hike.

    Ian2019-09-02T00:00:00Z

    Rachael2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wow!!! What a fantastic experience!!! I actually grew up a couple of miles down the road. My sister was getting married and my mom’s house was a little full. I was pleasantly surprised to find an air b&b in Mountain Grove. The location is absolutely beautiful!!! I would take a gamble in saying this is one of the most secluded and peaceful places you will ever stay!!! The house had everything that we needed!!! My favorite part was the front porch! It had a swing, chairs and the best view!!! Honestly I can’t wait for another reason to rent this place!!! What a great experience!

    Jennifer2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mountain cabin is the place to go! Great getaway lots of privacy and tucked away off the beaten path. Everything you need is just a short drive away. There is a fishing lake up the road and creek off the driveway if you need to take the kids or pups for a dip. Lake Moomaw has a great beach and fantastic view! We stayed up late every night sitting on the porch swing and watching the fireflies in the night sky! No traffic or light pollution, just a perfect way to relax the mind and get back to nature. But of course the coldest A/C and fast WiFi if you’re into that sort of thing lol!

She really has gone out of her way to add personal touches, like fresh baked cookies and flowers from her garden upon our arrival and sending us home with a tour and a bottle of homemade hot sauce, that set this little gem apart from the rest. If you are looking for a quiet get away and some good home hospitality look no further. You have to stay at Adair Hill.

  • Quiet, romantic, and relaxing. Quick ride to Lexington and a beautiful place to get away for a day, a week, or a month if you want. Well appointed and super clean. Cindy is an awesome host and very quick to communicate. You’ll definitely enjoy your stay here.

  • What a lovely place for a getaway! Rocking chairs on the wide wrap-around porch, beautiful views, near quaint historic Lexington. The house is equipped with everything one needs. We especially enjoyed the table on the porch for morning coffee and evening al fresco meals. Wonderful hosts as well.

  • Absolutey perfect spot for a relaxing vacation. The hostess was so accomadating and kind. She went above and beyond being helpful and understanding, but also respected out privacy. I've done airbnb for a while, and this is by far the best experience I've had to date.

  • Amanda is a very attentive and comprehensive host ! The house is amazing and well located near to a river. We had a nice time and I warmly recommend Amanda and her house for big groups !

  • We had a girls get away at this amazing cabin and property. We loved the very rustic nature of the entire experience. We floated the river, sat on the amazing covered porch and enjoyed a rain storm, marveled at all the wild flowers, birds and at night, the dance of the fireflies. We'll be back.

  • Great place

    Lisa2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I loved this cabin for a secluded getaway. We loved the gorgeous valley and river it was on. A weekend with no cell service and nothing to do but relax on the nice deck or in chairs down by the river was perfect. The drive there is very scenic and wildlife abounds. Be advised that this is a real cabin, not some new-built pretender. As with any old structure there are plenty of creaks and idiosyncrasies but that is part of the charm. If you are looking for all the amenities of modern life then go stay in the city. This place is a getaway from modern life. That said, the cabin is equipped with a washer and dryer, full kitchen and even a record player with some pretty good old vinyl.

Beautiful private cabin located in the historical Bath County. Enjoy a low key, quiet and peacefully vacation with an abundance of wildlife adjoining the George Washington National Forest. Enjoy some downtime at the cabin or visit some of the wonderful places Bath County has to offer. Twenty minutes from the Fort Lewis Lodge. Thirty minutes from the Douthat State Park with stocked trout lake and streams. Forty - five minutes from the Omni Homestead Resort and town of Hot Springs.
The Whitetail Lodge is located approximately an hour from Staunton or Lexington VA. You will need to stop at the grocery store before arriving. However, there are many great dining options in the town of Hot Springs 45 minutes away.
  • This Cabin was perfect for a relaxing, unplugged-no service getaway. It was so refreshing to unwind and focus on family. Thank you so much for a charming stay in your hospitable cabin.

  • What a great weekend! The leaves were turning so beautifully and the cabin was perfect. It was more than I expected because Becky really has the place stocked up. The kitchen has everything, crockpot included. We've stayed at tons of rentals and this one by far was the most well stocked. We did need to bring all our groceries from home because it's a ways to the closest store, but we brought stuff we didn't even need to. The cabin was VERY clean and the cabin was furnished with towels and sheets which was great. Everything you'd ever need besides food for the most part. It's a beautiful spot on a perfect setting. We took our beagle and he was so happy, I think he thought we'd moved there and he was completely happy about that! Lol. We walked all around outside many times a day, walked the creek, played cards, did a puzzle which I left there for other folks, sat by the fire pit a few times, and watched movies together. There was absolutely no service and we have Verizon and get it everywhere. I'm totally okay with that. We needed to take a break from everyone zoned in on their phones and we gave our family who may have needed to reach us the house phone line for emergencies but it fortunately never rang. We will DEFINITELY be back!

  • Great place for a weekend getaway! Beautiful property and decor. Thanks!

    Stevie2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Becky’s cabin. It has all the comforts of home but is free from the hustle and bustle. It’s a perfect spot to leave everything behind. Her cabin is beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and the perfect spot for relaxation. We’ve already recommended to our friends and will be back again.

    Bill2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was all we could ever wanted for an awesome weekend of chillax. Located in a National Forest, fully equipped and decorated with great care and detail. The cabin is the perfect spot for a comfy and cozy getaway with friends far away from the city, and away from mundane distractions. You might have to forget about your phone signal around the cabin, but quite honestly that was a blessing (if needed there is a land line in the cabin but we didn't use it). Highlights: The coziness of the place will make you stay (and come back). Stargazing by the fire pit on a clear dark night was simply amazing. Pro tip: Make sure to plan your meals and bring the food/drink you'll need during your stay, you probably don't want to go around to find a grocery store in the area. Time runs slower in the country, perfect time for those good ol'board games. A shoutout to Becky, she was very attentive and helpful: an amazing host!

  • Great location for easy access to Hot Springs. Great restaurant options for a smaller city and beautiful natural surroundings. We are already talking about coming back to visit.

  • I enjoyed staying in this apartment. It’s very close to “downtown” Warm Springs and offers a nice view to the mountain valley in which it resides. Very comfortable, with a full featured kitchen.

  • I was in town for a wedding at The Omni Homestead hotel which is on the same road about 5 miles away. Made going to the wedding a much easier decision by only having to pay $60 a night for a place to stay rather than the $700 total it would have costed to stay at The Omni. The whole process was easy and very straightforward, it was like going to stay at a friends second home for the weekend!

    Kyle2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet Waters is a great, accessible little space. Perfect for exploring the area

  • Adorable place with cute furnishings. The mattress is painfully uncomfortable to sleep on but I would still recommend this spot. Host was quick to respond to messages. I arrived much later in the night, lights & heat were turned for me. So appreciated.

This home is located on the way to Lake Moomaw and is in one of the few remaining 'dead' zones. Neither cell phones nor GPS work out here. The land line keeps you in touch with the real world and Wifi will help you reorient to find your way home again.
This house is remote and will give you the privacy you crave. Only 4 other homes are scattered along this road.
  • A great little cabin off the beaten path for sure. Quiet and cozy, just a short drive to Hot Springs. WiFi works well to stay in touch, if needed. Country living!

    Bradley2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay off the beaten path. Set up is perfect for the surroundings and the hosts are great and responsive. Way more spacious than expected. I like to describe it as, perfectly imperfect and it gave me great “mountain vibes”.

    Susan2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The WiFi is fantastic. I was able to work without any issues, and the environment is incredibly peaceful. I don't think anything could have improved my stay and I hope to visit here again!

  • Great spot if you want to step back from the hubbub of everything.

    Elizabeth2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The home is very private and secluded. The drive to the house was picturesque and there are so many nice back country roads surrounding it. There are loads of things to do around the area so we only hung around the house at night but the kitchen has everything you need, tv/WiFi works great, and the front porch is perfect for relaxing before heading out or closing down the day. The value is off the charts especially for what’s around.

    Ray2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • I was happily surprised with the accommodations, much roomier than expected. Although I did not get the opportunity to meet the host in person we spoke at length and I found them warm, inviting and very knowledgeable on the area. I can't wait to

Every person we encountered was friendly and extremely helpful. The Inn is so charming with a wonderful breakfast (delivered within moments of requesting it), a wood burning fireplace in our room, and a fabulous onsite restaurant. We didn't want for anything! Already planning our return trip.
