  • We absolutely loved staying at this cabin over the weekend. It's located right in Luray, so it's close enough to stores but far enough for some much-needed solitude. Everything was so easy, from check-in to check-out. Culin always made sure to respond to questions and provide us with plenty of information to make our stay as memorable as possible. We'll be back!

  • Blue Moon Cabin is a great place to go to escape. The front porch looks over the beautiful mountains and the back porch with the hot tub is great in the day with the view of the mountains and in the night with the view of the stars. It feels very secluded and private. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. Great place for a romantic getaway or family trip!

  • Great place to stay at! Enjoyed the beautiful outdoors hiking and was extremely thankful for the jacuzzi! Beautiful cabin that we hope to rent again. Highly recommend.

  • House appears to be very new and everything is in excellent shape. It was very clean. Appreciated the grill and accessories even though the rain ruined our plans to use it. Hot tub is great and there's evidence to prove it is taken care of regularly by a professional. We thought it would be more private - pictures don't show there's a house on each side and one in back (but neighbors keep to themselves). Note, the walk to the river is more of a hike. Communication from owner was very helpful. We had a great stay, thank you.

  • Perfect getaway from the city - highly recommend! The cabin itself was absolutely beautiful and had all the amenities you would need and more. Everything from the kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms were well stocked and felt very homey. Culin was a great host and provided us with all the information needed for check-in, check-out, and local hot spots!

  • My boyfriend and I loved our 2 night stay at Blue Moon Cabin! It was VERY clean and surpassed all of our expectations. Culin was an amazing host, he gave us so many great suggestions for the local attractions as well as very fast response times. It was the perfect private getaway while staying in Luray! Our only disappointment was that many of the local breweries and wineries are only open on weekends during this time of year, so we were unable to visit them during our stay. Fortunately, we picked up some wine from the local Walmart and had a great time enjoying the large front porch and rocker chairs at the cabin. (:

    Emily2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean place and had everything you needed for a cozy cabin getaway! Culin was great with recommendations and always prompt with check-in and responses. My mom, sister and I really enjoyed our time there. We went to Hawksbill Brewery one day and took a walk down to the river.

  • Great place to stay! Culin was quick to respond and offered lots of local tips. The cabin was clean and well decorated. The hot tub and fire pit were really nice and overall, it was a fantastic trip.

Cozy pet-friendly cabin in walking distance of the Shenandoah River. • Hot tub • High speed internet •Fully equipped & stocked kitchen • Onsite washer & dryer • Grill • Gas fireplace • Private Garden Pub/Bar
You know those big mountain resort neighborhoods? This isn't one. This is a secret spot close to all the big attractions, but tucked away from "the hubbub." Guests love being able to walk to the Shenandoah River, a private lake, hiking trails, and Shenandoah River Outfitters. They also love finding a pet-friendly cabin that is modern rustic... not just rustic. Come get away from it all at our cabin. Enjoy the simple life, sleep in, and breath the fresh mountain air. Revel in the beauty and bounty Shenandoah has to offer guests, and feel free to revel in the garden pub... which is 120 square feet of country fun tucked into the woods. We're happy to provide you with a list of our favorite restaurants, wineries, activities, hiking trails, excursions, and more. We like to consider ourselves the unofficial ambassadors of Luray!
Off the beaten path, but by no means 4-wheel drive necessary. The cabin is part of a quaint little neighborhood walking distance to the Shenandoah River, and Shenandoah River Outfitters.
  • Terrific mountain getaway for couples!

  • Great place to visit! The cabin is off the beaten path, and while it is a bumpy road to get to the location; it's worth it. If you want to have a romantic weekend -- or have a good time with some friends, a great place to visit.

  • If you're looking for a secluded getaway, this is the perfect place. The pictures are an exact representation of what to expect when you get there. The hot tub was already warmed and waiting for us, which was great after the long drive down. One thing to note though, is that you have to take all trash to a public trash disposal. The closest one is about a 30 minute drive, so be mindful of what you'll be throwing away, and the smells that may go with them.

    Devin2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is fantastic! Nestled in the middle of mountain trails and a beautiful river, we were never far from anything we wanted to do. The cabin itself was immaculately clean and the yard was very well kept. Needless to say, but the hot tub was spectacular! 10/10, will try and reserve again!

Our cabin, located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains is uniquely positioned overlooking a large open field where hawks hunt and bears leisurely walk through. Our neighbors have 3 horses that peer over the fence to see what is going on but we are not allowed to feed them Our cabin was built in 1865 at the end of the Civil War. In that very cabin a soldier and his wife raised 11 children. Our cabin is rustic and lovely. A large front porch with swing is waiting for you.
Pets on a case by case basis. Please discuss your pet with us before booking! Some pets have done a fair amount of damage! If your pet is allowed , there will be a $10.00 per visit fee for extra cleaning! If you are a stickler for privacy....the bedrooms are adjoining but separated by a door! A reminder...this is an old , rustic, vintage cabin so stairs are narrow to both bedrooms and bathroom so please be careful!
We are remote! Our immediate neighbors Greg and Robin are great people and they own the 3 beautiful horses that you see in the yard. Their 3 horses Calypso, Cole and Kayla will be hanging over the fence hoping to greet you...please no feeding the horses! We are expecting a Gypsy Vanner foal in Spring.
  • Great rustic home with authentic touches to compliment the era of the home. The wood stove kept the place toasty warm and the kitchen stove/ oven is a fantastic addition to compliment the cabin era. The home was sparkling clean, stocked with plenty of firewood, and had detailed simple instructions for using the wood stove. The grounds are relaxing and great for hiking . Spend time sitting on the porch swing sipping coffee in the morning or star gazing in the evenings. Great place for dogs to play. Enjoyed hiking the grounds everyday, especially to the falls. Best place to disconnect from technology, reconnect to nature and simply unwind!

  • Beautiful, warm , welcoming, peaceful cabin. The perfect getaway!

    Santiago2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot if you want to unplug and relax. As described in the listing. Lots of interesting touches and features. Quiet, secluded and dark at night. 20 mins to Skyline drive.

    Josh2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cabin on a beautiful property! Just the perfect weekend away to relax and unwind. We loved the wood burning stove in the living room. Made for cozy evenings together. Will definitely recommend. Hope to return soon!

    Matthew2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place is such a gem! Judith was a wonderful host and was so helpful to make recommendations. The cabin was as cozy as it gets and is situated on such a beautiful property. We loved sipping our coffee in the morning out on the porch swing and hiking along the paths which you can easily access from the property.

    Annie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is so beautiful and well-kept and easily convenient to Shenandoah National Park. We arrived at night, which was a little spooky, since the roads are really dark and the cell reception is minimal, so probably would recommend arriving with some daylight. That being said, the cabin's remoteness was absolutely part of its charm, and it is one of the most beautiful airbnb's I've ever stayed in. Highly recommend!

    Marissa2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • John Pope cabin is amazing located in beautiful pure nature. We felt very safe. Cabin has good amenities (kitchen, outdoor grill, etc). Judith is an amazing hist as well very warm and welcoming. The only thing others should know is that there is no wireless network in the cabin itself which is great for getting away from the world but it can easy be accessed by going near the main house in the field and using the host’s WIFI. We enjoyed out trip so much and will be back again. Would definitely recommend.

    Yavar2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a place that was off the grid, still offered some of the comforts of home, was secluded but close to Shenandoah National Park. This cabin was perfect for that. What a wonderful place this was. Judith was very responsive and extremely accommodating. It was very clean upon arrival with all the amenities mentioned. We had spotty cell phone service as expected (AT&T/Cricket). The wood stove was perfect for open door viewing like a fireplace, and closed door for warmth. The stars were so unbelievably bright.  The kitchen was well outfitted, including a water cooler when well water isn't preferred. The location was extremely quiet and very remote. Judith is down the hill, but if you choose seclusion, it's like you're in the middle of nowhere.  The proximity to SNP was perfect. It's situated West of, and between the two Northernmost entrances of the park, so it made access very convenient.  Be advised that the steps to the bathroom are steep and in a different part of the cabin than the bedrooms (as mentioned in the description). Just a mild inconvenience for the other benefits to this cabin. The outdoor shower was great, but on cooler days, the average person will most likely want to use the bathtub.  All of the furniture was very comfortable, and the cabin was somewhere we could have spent hours in by itself. If you're looking for the same things we were, you will not be disappointed!

  • This cottage is beautiful. It is decorated nicely. When we were there, the TV didn't work, so if this is an issue, you may want to confirm that first. The homemade blueberry bread left for us was delicious!

TimberWend is a great get-away offering an unparalleled escape. It borders the Shenandoah National Park and overlooks one of the park's least visited waterfalls, Greasy Falls. It has a spectacular fifty-mile view on a clear day and the closest neighbor is one-half mile away.
The driveway to TimberWend is one-half mile long and is not plowed in the winter. SUV recommended. There is a locked gate at the entrance with a key box. Internet is via a satellite dish. It is a 5g system which should provide adequate speeds for most functions, but can be negatively affected by weather and high band width satellite usage. Cell phone service is available to AT&T customers through wifi calling. There is a land line for emergencies.
Our closest neighbor is one-half mile away. The forest is our neighbor and we like the quietness of the place. Very relaxing!
  • This cabin is set in a beautiful location and is the perfect get away! The cabin is well stocked and Bess is an amazing super host.

    Melissa2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay, Bess has put the most thoughtful touches into the house. The view was beautiful and the home was cozy, clean, and relaxing.

  • This gorgeous cabin with its enormous picture windows and breathtaking views is a balm to the soul. It was just as described, perfectly clean, comfortable beds and unbeatable location next to the Shenandoah National Park. We were charmed by the little touches from gifted host Bess, who's very thoughtful and replies quickly to any questions. If you're looking for a place to rest, relax and find peace in nature, this is it!

    Coqui2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A homey, comfortable, and cozy cabin tucked away from the world. The cabin was very clean and had anything you could need, and if you did need anything else, the host was VERY hospitable. It’s about 20-30 minute drive to the nearest restaurant or town. Shenandoah National Park is right in the backyard, there’s a waterfall you can hear from the balcony... which was a fun and easy hike. The driveway was a little daunting, about 1/2 mile of bumpy terrain. Overall it was a great stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend off the grid!

    Madeline2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • A great mountain & forest escape. An incredibly cozy cabin, truly remote. Bess makes sure to stock the cabin full of all possible necessities for cooking, as well as a very nice selection for breakfast in the fridge. Went in the winter, it snowed the following day and you could see the frozen waterfall up close. For hiking, would recommend going onto Skyline drive and doing those hikes if you care more about getting to a nice view or peak. Nearby trails and hikes are nice too. Keep in mind that Google Maps may accidentally lead you to a driveway before the correct one. If you can't find it, or don't think you're at the right gate, keep driving on the road following the address numbers! The road was tackled by a Honda Fit (no snow). Bumpy, but okay as long as your car isn't a convertible or something. A very very nice stay for a couple, wifi is satellite based, so don't expect to stream movies, but there is a nice selection of blueray movies at the cabin. Incredibly cozy, would recommend :)

    Vasil2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking to get away from the city to recharge and enjoy the outdoors then this is the place for you. The cabin is completely secluded tucked away right up to the boundary of Shenandoah National Park. Bess also includes breakfast items (as others have mentioned) which is above and beyond what I have experienced at other Airbnbs. Great Experience!!

    Mike2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the perfect getaway! When you first walk in, you instantly notice how homey it feels. Bess has included many special little touches in the home to really allow you to settle in comfortably. We enjoyed the breathing views each day from the front porch and the beautiful waterfall to the side of the home. Bess left some breakfast foods in the fridge which we enjoyed. We also enjoyed some great DVD selections while enjoying warmth from the wood burning stove. Please take notice of feedback regarding the type of vehicle you need to manage the road leading to the home. We had an SUV and it was worth it for the drive. We would absolutely book this place again!

This cozy small, very private, room has a double bed and room darkening shades. It is adjacent to it own private bathroom with shower and a luxurious warmed toilet seat. Three-way sconce lights on each side of bed, each with a convenient turn-off switch located for easy turn off/on from the bed. There is closet space for hanging clothes.
Cosy Rose Room at Vineyard Vista Country Getaway will allow a dog if guests will agree to keep them on lease and not leave them in the room when they are out. Dogs are welcome, but please do not ask to bring your dog if it is not house broken and you are not willing to wipe their feet every time they come inside. (Due to birds roaming freely the porches and yard.)
The charm of Vineyard Vista Country Getaway is the rural setting. On spring, summer and fall mornings it is relaxing to sit on the kitchen deck and watch peacocks strut, or if early enough watch the sun rise over the mountain while enjoying a cup coffee or special tea.
  • This is a perfect place to end a night of excitement and wonder in the city. The women that gives you the key is war hearted and makes you feel like you’re at home. Very clean and quiet location worth every penny of the very affordable price.

  • Went for a quick get away from the city and it was everything we hope for and more! We felt right at home the moment we arrived. Petsy's daughter, Susan, was helping host and she was so warm and shared some amazing stories about the area, and the history. The home is so cozy but also has some fun gadgets! We visited the winery next door and had such a lovely time. This is the perfect country get away. If you get a chance don't miss an opportunity tl stay here!

    Chelsey2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to stay near the beautiful Shenandoah National Park. Petsy was a fantastic host and her home was very comfortable and welcoming. She was very kind and responsive, and the house was very clean. Petsy and her daughter helped us with food recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Would definitely recommend!

  • Petsy is so very sweet and hospitable. The house is beautiful with all kinds of antiques. It is on a gorgeous piece of property. Be sure to have your directions and instructions into the house before you get there.....there is no phone service about 1 mile out from the property. So you wont be able to call for directions. But it is so well worth the drive!!

  • Petsy’s place its amazing. Much better than we expected. It was super cozy und sparkling clean. Petsy is a thoughtful host.

  • We enjoyed very much to stay at Petsy’s house: it is close to the park (30 min), super cosy and very comfortable. We cooked our breakfast and dinner as there is everything you need. Very recommended!

    Chiara2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy is a wonderfull host, and the room is excellent: it's cosy and comfortable. Petsy even made coffee and bagels available for us in the morning. We recomend this lovely place.

    Rasmus Fink2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Although we just spent one night at Petsy’s house, we really enjoyed it. It’s a cosy house outside of the town and it’s really clean and quite. Petsy is a very friendly lady and we are glad to met her. From her place it’s close to the shenandoah national park. We would definitely stay at her place again!

It's perfect. I will say, tho, that the farm fresh eggs tasted so good!!! I had forgotten what a treat a "real egg" omelette could be. Go! Stop looking and reserve now! David and Danielle.

  • My husband and I were celebrating our one year anniversary as well as a quick baby moon. Great location only 15 minutes from Skyline Drive. Michele was a great communicator and had small wonderful touches left for us upon our check-in. Also pretty cool thing to be woken up by real roosters :)

    Elizabeth2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place tucked away in Shenandoah. Michele has provided everything you could need while you are there, including fresh eggs from the chickens, which is a nice touch. Would 100% stay again and hopefully will be back in the future when the area is in full bloom!

    Connor2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is the ultimate oasis for a nice getaway from a busy and stressful work week. Michele was there to greet us and offered great suggestions for food and local attractions- which we were so thankful for! There is nothing about the apartment that was skimped out on, everything was warm, clean and super comfortable! We would give our stay ten stars if we could and we have no doubt that we will be back for another weekend away down the road.

    Anne2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived, we knew we had picked the right place! It is an absolutely gorgeous spot, and so close to the Skyline Drive. The guest cottage was spotless, and equipped with everything you could possibly need, from fresh eggs in the frig to toiletries to all kinds of info about area attractions! We loved that the space was so homey, and we loved being able to see the sunrise from our bed. George and Michelle could not have been nicer, and we enjoyed having the dogs greet us each day. If you are looking for a peaceful spot close to everything, plan a stay here...we can't wait to come back again!!!

    Jim & Sharon2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Welcoming and comfortable. Special touches - fresh eggs and local wine suggestions! Good base for exploring Shenandoah NP and Virginia wineries.

    Connie2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Michele's space was the perfect, cozy homebase for a Shenandoah valley adventure! Very accommodating, responsive, and thoughtful. The property and view is so beautiful, quiet, and relaxing. The space, ambiance, host, and location is a gem and a phenomenal value! We will definitely be back again!

Welcome to The Perch! Our beautiful A-frame cabin opens up to the Shenandoah River. Cabin is perfectly suited for couples or small families looking for the perfect mountain getaway with a view that can't be beat. Take in the sights from the rooftop deck, screened porch, or by the fire pit in this year-round riverfront retreat. Prime location for canoeing, fishing, hiking & biking - the perfect escape to relax in the woods, on the water and to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Shenandoah.
Our cabin is located on a beautiful bend on the Shenandoah river, complete with a picturesque view of the mountains in the background. There is much to explore outdoors, but the indoor space will keep you cozy when you want to kick your feet up. The open concept floor plan allows for plenty of mingling and family time, but when it's time to turn down for the night, everyone will enjoy their own private areas. The loft hideaway area is accessible by a ladder, which is perfect for small children to sneak away for their own movie time, but only under the supervision of an adult.
Our cabin strikes the ideal balance between seclusion and access to necessary amenities. You'll be just a 10-15 minute drive to just about anything you could desire: restaurants, outdoor activities, Skyline Drive, etc. Our cabin just few miles away from the Shenandoah Outfitters Canoe Company if a day trip is more your style (tubing, kayaking, etc.). There is much to explore through the Shenandoah National Park, in the heart of Luray, and nearby wineries and breweries.
  • What a beautiful location and cabin! You can’t beat the tranquility of this place, with direct water access on top of it all. The cabin is wonderful; such a cool design, with a rooftop deck, and it was sparkling clean inside. Lyndsey is a wonderful host too—super responsive and she has a great guidebook that gives useful tips on nearby hikes and restaurants. We had an excellent stay and are looking forward to returning. Thanks, Lyndsey!

    Nicole2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Situated right on the river the Perch offers a priceless setting to unwind. The roof top deck also provides a panoramic view of the area. Inside the home has a super cozy living room with a toasty fireplace to stay warm on cold nights. The fully functional kitchen makes it convenient for cooking.

    Dan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This quiet and cozy cabin was exactly what my family needed to get away from the city. The view is breathtaking especially from the loft and the rooftop deck.

    Yzalia2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Looking for a easy get away from all the chaos of the DMV? The Perch is your answer! not only is it super easy to get to, but the house itself is everything we could have asked for and more! We booked in Jan and still had an amazing experience. The house is soooo cozy during winter, her living room stove heats the house up FAST!!!! The area is quiet, with the only major sounds are coming from the river in the front yard!!! this place offers the perfect escape!!! the campfire was perfect during the cold winter nights. Lyndsey offers so many extras, every time we realized we forgot something, Lyndsey had everything we needed! Would recommend the Storybook Trail short like with spectacular views! It’s only about 30min away but with beautiful sights to look at on the way, the drive feels incredibly short!!

    Marsha2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This location is fabulous and the cabin and grounds are gorgeous. This is the perfect place to enjoy the mountains and also a quick ride over to Luray Caverns. We came in the winter, and the fireplace inside was perfect along with the campfire outside and grill! Right on the river, we had a beautiful view. 10/10 would recommend!

    Jake2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first trip together and this place made it remarkably unforgettable! Clean, beautiful with Breathtaking view! We loved our stay in this cabin! Thank you Lyndsey!

  • Very cool, eclectic place. It felt like a home away from home and was conveniently located by Shenandoah National Park and town. Will recommend to friends!

    Eve2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Izzy's place exceeded our expectations in every way. A perfect location, to both the town of Front Royal and the entrance to Skyline Drive. The apartment was cozy, clean and well-appointed. Love all the time personal paintings and little touches. I highly recommend Izzy's place to any Travelers, and would choose it again if returning do the area. Roger & Vicki

  • Izzy's place was a great home base for a hiking trip in Shenandoah National Park. The kitchen was well equipped for home cooked meals, and my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the cozy environment of this home!

    Rosemary2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Izzy's place is a very artsy nicely decorated Airbnb in a great location to Shenandoah NP which was our reason for going. It is very clean and comfortable. Izzy greeted us on arrival and when we had a problem and called her she answered right away.

  • The house was everything that we needed and then some. There are thoughtful touches all over the place to make sure you have a comfortable stay. We had so much fun with the fire pits (there are three!) and the hot tub. Brenda is thoughtful and goes the extra mile. Stay here for a wonderful escape from the city. Take care of the place so others may enjoy it, too!

    Shanaz2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • This house is truly set up for 5-star stay! The host was welcoming and tentative to any needs or questions we had. The house itself was very clean and very cozy, where you could relax and watch a movie or play a game of chess. If you were looking to enjoy some air, the side patio had the large tub and plenty of space for some catch. The kitchen was also fully stalked with kitchen ware and plenty of cooking space. The 2 main floor bedrooms were SUPER COMFORTABLE! Loved this stay very much! Will definitely return!

    Kimberly2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay! It was well kept, clean, and in a gorgeous location. We had everything we needed and more. The thoughtful gifts and touches made us feel so welcome. The hot tub was lovely! The house either met or exceeded our expectations!

    Amy2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great house in the mountains with tons of amenities and fantastic hot tub. Very quiet with lots of options for hiking pretty close

    Jacob2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far the best Airbnb I've stayed in. The amenities and special touches such as a personal note and welcome goodies basket were top notch. Brenda was always accessible and went out of her way to assist with any questions we had. We are looking forward to visiting her home in warmer weather. Thank you for making this such an enjoyable vacation for us!

    Laurie2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had a great stay. We will definitely try to make it back again. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

    Jonathan2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous place to stay! We stayed with our two young children and my parents and the house had something for everyone. Books, games and puzzles, toys and a room that had my three year old entranced, and the wonderful hot tub. The kitchen (indeed the whole house) is extremely well-equipped and stocked with all the essentials. The location is remote enough to feel that you’re away from it all but conveniently close to Luray and other hubs. Brenda was fantastic to communicate with and our whole experience was just a delight. Would recommend to anyone and we will definitely be coming back in the future.

    Nadine2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • I knew dream view house would be perfect for myself, my husband and young adult daughter, and it was even better than I expected or that photos can show. The front deck was a favorite place to hang out with our dogs, and the location was close to so many towns —five breweries, Luray Caverns, great hiking trails, etc. After a day of adventure coming home to this lovely place was paradise! Now, I want to come back to visit soon. We drove up from Florida, but it was less than 2 hours from my daughters DC area place, so a perfect meeting place & common ground for us. The dog beds and outside porches made the pups welcome too!

  • Wonderful cabin. Had a great time hiking and making s’mores in the fire pit. Beautiful views.

    Barry2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • We have been to a good number of Airbnb’s. This one is very nice. The view is beautiful and location to Shenandoah National park was excellent. Great escape!

    Jeroen2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • I loved all the thoughtful touches, including snacks, treats for the doggies, extra towels, sharp kitchen knives. We had everything we needed. The recommendation of an all wheel drive vehicle should not be ignored. They have the steepest driveway I've ever been on - the payoff at the top is worth it. Gorgeous views.

    Jessica2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a unique get away experience, this is it! The views and surroundings were breathtaking, the decor and thoughtful touches were perfect and all the while it felt like you were nestled in cozy right in your own home. Highly recommend!!

    Lana2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible views and a very comfortable place! The home still had creature comforts if you needed them to help make a great experience. Jessica was able to answer any questions I had and really went the extra step to make sure our trip went smoothly. The driveway up is a little steep and can be intimidating, but manageable.

    Eric2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot express enough how wonderful this cabin is! My boyfriend and I were sad to spend Thanksgiving away from our families in Florida this year because we couldn’t make the drive, but this perfect cabin in the woods felt like home! Perfect location with beautiful hiking right outside the door. We didn’t see another person the entire 4 days we were there, and our dog loved all of the room she had to explore. If you’re looking for a cozy cabin to read and play board games next to the fire, while looking out at the gorgeous views that you can explore for yourself... look no further! So excited to come back!

    Courtnee2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a weekend here and it was better than we imagined. You’re at the top of the mountains in a secluded cabin with amazing views. The cabin was so cozy. It was perfect for my boyfriend and our dog. Jessica was a great host!

    Barbara2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica was a wonderful host! When we arrived there were local snacks and even dog treats for our fur baby! The views out of the front deck were breathtaking! Jessica even had a fire going for us for when we arrived! She went above and beyond to make our stay a great one! We will be back! ❤️

Looking for a "Shack" experience? Spend time in the foothills of the Skyline Drive at our cozy cottage. Well behaved dogs are welcome. The driveway is long and home is very secluded. Set on 60 acres. Winter access will be subject to weather conditions. Driveway does not get plowed Cell service is spotty however the house has a landline and wifi.
It's a peaceful, spiritual place tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains
The deer, the bears, turkeys...mostly the chipmunks that play in the stonewall outside my kitchen window
  • I have used multiple Airbnb’s but this was by far the best experience. We wanted to getaway from the city with all that is going on in the world and locally. It turned out to be the perfect place for a long weekend. It’s perfectly secluded and gave us time to disconnect from the world and getaway with each other. The place was outstandingly clean and so peaceful. The beds are so comfortable and honestly I really want to know where she bought those Sheets. We will definitely be doing this again and again. Thank you Valerie for your outstanding hospitality and sharing your home with us.

  • Place to be if you want a beautiful and secluded cottage near Shenendoah NP and Front Royal. House is very clean and immaculate. Has everything you need. Valerie has created a very welcoming place. Kitchen fully equipped. Bed comfortable. Solid wifi. Nice fire pit. Great local tips on the area including hikes, food, etc. if you want a cabin in the woods in this area this is it. Highly recommended. Thanks!

    Lance2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this stay thinking we would spend the weekend hiking in Shenandoah but the property was so nice we ended up spending most of our time at the cabin and the nearby trails on the property.

    Russell2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our best Airbnb experience by far! Valerie's cottage had much more than we expected and really beautiful and thoughtful setting. We enjoyed watching movies on the comfortable sofa, making meals in the spacious kitchen and enjoy the sunshine, warming up next to the gas fireplace, and enjoying the beautiful view. Spend sometime at the cottage and you will have a perfect retreat experience in the woods. Cannot wait to come back.

  • Great spot in a beautiful and remote location. We stayed only one night but would love to come back one day with our dog and explore the area more! Cabin was cozy and rustic and had everything we needed to disconnect and be cozy for a night in the mountains. Loved the gazebo! No cell service or wifi but we knew that going in so we were prepared and actually enjoyed it. Thanks, Justin!

    Sarah2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great remote place to getaway from city. Last couple miles are paved road, so if the weather is not good it might be a little challenging to get up there with a sedan car. I highly recommend bringing your own drinking water, tap water has a sulfur smell, nothing bad but I would imagine drinking would be hard. Also there is not much around, its better to bring your own food and cook, instead of driving down. Side note, there was no hair dryer, or we weren’t able to find it, its better to brining.

  • If you need a quiet break from the city, this is your place. The area is gorgeous, and there are beautiful trails nearby. Bring your groceries and enjoy a secluded weekend away. The house is super cute with a log bar and a fireplace. Our dog couldn't have been happier running free is the big back yard, taking long walks down the road, and hiking through the trials. It was just what we were looking for!

    Jessica2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most phenomenal time at Justin’s place. The most authentic cabin situated in the woods, it was absolutely stunning to drink from the bar and overlook the lake. Serenity ! It was about a 35 minute drive down into woodstock which we loved the diner down there, an extremely auThentic experience. Everyone we encounter were so lovely and warm. We would have loved to have gone hiking but we were snowed out which was just lovely anyway !! Throughly enjoyed.

The Keyser house is a newly renovated country home nearby historic and scenic locations. Conveniently located close to the Skyline Drive and Luray Caverns. Also, within a walking distance of access to the Shenandoah River (additional fee). This home has been in the Keyser family since 1928
My home has a spacious yard that is well landscaped. You can enjoy a home in the country and still be close to scenic attractions in the Shenandoah Valley!
  • We had great time at this place. I would only recommend Keyser house for a 4 or more people. Check in was smooth, Luray Caverns are about 15 minutes drive.

    Manan2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Keyser house was the perfect place to stay while enjoying the beautiful foliage and hiking in the Shenandoahs. It was a great distance and location, only 15 min to Luray for dinners and 25 min into the Shenandoah National Park. Quick responses from the host and easy instructions to follow. Would highly recommend.

    Caitlin2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint old house that definitely had me reeling remembering which doorways to go where! A fun weekend getaway at The Keyser House was what I needed, and it’s proximity to skyline drive, the caverns, and local wineries and breweries was ideal. We have Verizon and has no service for several miles either way, so be sure to plan accordingly!

    Colleen2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The place is fantastic. Far enough away, yet still close to civilization. The house is flooded with historic articals and artifacts from from the rich history in which the place was built.

    Bryan2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Betsy’s place is off the grid, (no cell service) but located in the middle of a beautiful countryside area. It’s very comfortable, and charming, farmhouse feel with updated amenities. My only caution is to the elderly or those with mobility concerns, to be careful. A flight of steps leads to bedrooms upstairs, and on the main floor there are numerous thresholds to maneuver (to be expected with a house this old). Betsy was easy to communicate with and very accommodating with a date change request.

    Barbara2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to stay. Very large home with plenty of room. For an older home, we were impressed with the size of the rooms, closet space and availability of power outlets. Good location just off a main road.

    Nicholas2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience!!!

    Bakshinder2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We greatly enjoyed our stay at Betsy's place! The location was convenient for accessing Skyline Drive and Luray, and offered a great getaway with its quiet, serene setting. Parking was easy. The house is expansive, with three nicely furnished bedrooms (the beds are comfortable and quiet), two TVs with cable, and two clean bathrooms (one on each floor, with good towels and washcloths). The bedrooms are on the second floor, which worked perfectly for our party but just an FYI in case anyone in your group has issues walking. Betsy gave us helpful dining recommendations, was exceptional at communication, and was quick to respond to any queries we might have. I look forward to returning here when next I'm in the area!

We live near D.C. but love getting away to the beautiful Shenandoah Area. We look forward to sharing our get-away spot with guests. This cabin has a unique round design with exposed wooden beams and original wooden floors. Large front and back yard. Low light interference makes for fantastic star gazing. Pets stay for free, no per pet per night charges. Close to Bealers Ferry Pond, Shenandoah River access and Shenandoah River Outfitters.
We provide all bed linens, towels and paper products. Fully stocked kitchen with all basic appliances and utensils to prepare a meal. Brick fire pit in back yard and brand new grill on deck. Direct TV with basic service. All major carriers receive good cell service at the cabin. Selection of DVDS, books and board games for guest use.
There is another rental cabin directly behind our backyard with a fence separating the properties. Across the street is a long time resident of the area who likes to keep to himself.
  • Terrific option and great value. We will definitely return.

*MOUNTAIN CLOUDS* Relaxing, Escape, Views & Private Hot Tub!
PLease see **NOTES** at the end for information you may need. STUNNING panoramic views of the Shenandoah Valley from a large deck, with hot tub AND wood fireplace. All of the amenities. Privacy. And at an elevation of 2,000 feet, even summer is comfortable. Skyline Drive and Luray caverns are close by, and Washington DC is only 90 miles away. Also nearby is the Shendandoah River - one of the most beautiful aspects of the area. Lots of opportunity for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and floating the river. Luray is less than 10 miles away and Front Royal is also nearby, so restaurants, quaint shopping and wineries are all nearby. This is a must see experience! NOTE: The final 1 mile to the Cabin is on a gravel road that is sometimes a single lane and sometimes steep. WE PROVIDE A JEEP for guests needing a higher clearance vehicle to climb the mountain road! (no charge, but reservation for the jeep is required)
This is a VERY unique community becuase it is literally on the mountain! The views are rare and spectacular.
  • Loved this space! Brian was super communicative and if anything, space was cuter than the pictures. Super peaceful and idyllic.

  • I love being deep in the wood. Off the beaten path and Cabin in the Cloud does not disappoint.

    Ernie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was perfect. Very private with great views, especially at sunset. We cooked every meal and never lacked for anything in the kitchen. Brian was especially helpful in making sure I had flowers waiting as a surprise for my lady. Honestly a perfect romantic getaway for a couple that doesn’t mind staying in a rustic little cabin.

    Zachary2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Clouds Cabin, and Brian was a thoughtful host who made sure to answer all of our questions. The cabin is very comfortable, the views are amazing, and the hot tub perfect after a long day. We made fires in the fireplace which made the cabin extra toasty at night. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet getaway.

    Julie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Clouds cabin lives up to its name! The road is an adventure but the reward is the most relaxing cabin in the sky to reset the mindset. Brian was very helpful and extremely quick to respond to any issues. Take the trip to stay here. It’s worth it!

Secluded neighborhood with house directly on the Shenandoah river. Private quarters with amazing views from your own deck and sun room. Long dirt road to access property. Cattle likely grazing throughout the road in.
The Shenandoah river is visible and easily accessible right from the door.
Mostly residents in the area because of the secluded back road to get here. It’s a peaceful getaway.
  • Second stay and absolutely loved it!

  • This cabin was nestled in the mountains - it was very serene and had a lovely view! We were very impressed by the cleanliness of the home and the amount of space. My colleagues and will certainly return if we ever head back to the area! The last bit of the drive involves a steep hill and a gravel road, so be sure to bring a car that can handle that!

  • We had such a great stay at Grand View Cabin--the best birthday I have had in a long time! The cabin is comfortable and cozy and my granddaughters loved sleeping in a "tree house." The little touches like the Brita water pitcher in the refrigerator and brochures for local attractions were very nice. I appreciated that everything was so neat and clean. The host-to-guest communication was excellent, especially the directions.

  • Place was nice and cozy. The view was amazing.

    Jarrett2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had a wonderful and relaxing week at Ashley's cabin. The views were beautiful. The only thing we had trouble with was the long, bumpy road up to the cabin. 4WD is a must. Overall, we had a lovely experience!

    Jimmy2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was amazing!! The pictures don’t do the view justice. Everything was clean and neat upon arrival, and communication was excellent throughout. Definitely would recommend not driving a sedan up the mountain, but we had a small SUV and it worked perfectly fine. We will definitely be staying here again!!

    Kelsey2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing stay. 5 stars! The pictures don’t do the view justice. The kitchen had everything you needed, plenty of space to move around and stretch in the mornings, board games came in clutch, and the grill was also super spot on. My favorite part was probably the hot tub. Definitely coming back again! Grocery stores are about a 30 minute drive which isn’t bad since it’s pretty out there but if you want to avoid driving just plan your meals!

    Mark2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Had a terrific birthday weekend. The view is great, the cabin was clean, and the hot tub was our favorite part. It was a quick drive down the mountain to explore Luray Caverns. We also enjoyed the many wild birds that would visit the property

    Alex2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and everything was as expected. Great communication with Ashley. We had a wonderful time and plan on a return trip in the future.

    Joe2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views, wholesome and cozy space, very responsive host and decent location. As the reviews below state, the drive up the mountain to the property was definitely more suitable for a SUV or truck. Although I did see a neighbor/other guest driving up in a Mini Cooper, so it can be done in a smaller vehicle. My friends and I stayed here for an extended weekend and had an amazing time. We had no complaints and can’t wait to come again for a longer period of time.

Situated in the forest in an idyllic setting next to a babbling brook, The Church House is the ultimate nature retreat – only a short 90 minute drive from Washington DC.
Featuring a large central area for gathering family and friends, a large farmhouse dining table, and a fully stocked kitchen, The Church House is primed for gathering and entertaining while also serving as a quiet retreat for two. With century old original details, such as a 12 foot by 12 foot hand painted mural by a traveling pastor that depicts Jesus with a flock of sheep in the Shenandoah Valley and serves as the concave backdrop for the original alter. This and much more makes this property a once in a lifetime experience waiting to be had. Nestle up next to a fire in the wood stove and soak in the surrounding forest views. Downstairs, where the original Sunday School once was, is a master queen bedroom and master bath. Upstairs you’ll find an open air loft with a king size bed, as well as two XL twins with the option of twin trundles underneath. This loft is an airy, 800 square feet, with views of the outside forest, a nook for reading, meditating, or enjoying your morning coffee. Traveling with little ones? The loft also has a fully stocked toy chest, bath toys, and an optional port-a-crib should you need it. Part of the loft is a large bathroom featuring an extra-large jacuzzi bath, walk-in shower, as well as his and her sinks. Take a bath while enjoying the sound of the creek rushing by and the views of the forest outside. Ready to venture outside? The church house experience continues as you walk into the fully-designed backyard. Waiting for you is a professional quality grill, hot tub that can accommodate 7 people, and a fire pit set on local river stones and situated right alongside the creek. The church house is located on one of the most popular loops for local bikers and runners – gooney manor loop – take one of the two provided bikes and explore the rolling hills, local farms, and stunning views bordering the Shenandoah National Park.
If you’d like to pack some sight-seeing into your forest retreat, we’ve got you covered. Just a 5 minute drive away is a gorgeous Shenandoah winery, and it’s only 20 minutes to the town of Front Royal, whose Main Street provides lots of wonderful options for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Also 20 minutes from the church house you’ll find the famous Shenandoah River, with local outfitters renting tubes, canoes, and kayaks for river adventures. Whether you’re looking to spend the weekend nestled inside relaxing or adventuring in the Shenandoah surroundings, the church house is designed to provide the ultimate getaway experience to leave you refreshed and inspired.
  • An absolutely charming place to be! The property is beautiful and accommodations are wonderfully thoughtful. Every room was immaculate and yet incredibly cozy. It truly felt like a home away from home, and I can’t wait to go back!

    Esther2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was BY FAR THE BEST AIRBNB I have ever stayed at. I can not recommend enough. 1) The location: it was stunning. The drive up to the church was beautiful and was an experience of its own. Being able to sit around the church and enjoy the stream running by, birds chirping, etc. I was so grateful to be in this location to begin with 2) The inside: Right away, this place felt like home for me and my group, and I am sure it will feel the same for any other group. The vibe was cozy with an open layout and hardwood floors. The amenities were stunning - Something I never expect from an Airbnb. The place was sparklingly clean, the beds (So many!!) were comfortable, the bathrooms were beautiful, the upstairs shower blew my mind with its water pressure, the piano allowed for our group’s musically talented individuals to serenade us with great, and nostalgic music (although I am not musically talented, our piano playing friend said the piano was really well tuned!). The wood stove in the main room. So cozy. We knew we could use the smart thermostat to heat the place up at night, but we used the wooden stove as a fire place, it just hits different; so so cozy. The interior design of the church left my group wanting to redesign our own personal homes. 3) The outside: Hot tub. Campfire. MOSS!! Our group spent so much time in the clean and cozy hot tub that was right next to the stream running by, leaving a really rustic sound of running water while we were soaking in the hot tub. The campfire brought me back to my days at summer camp as a kid. One night, we even cooked our dinner around the campfire (even though there was a brand new grill available!). I also never knew I loved moss. I had no opinion of it before coming, but there is moss laid out around the church that is SO soft that your bare feet feel as if you are walking on brand new carpet.. but like.. outside. 4) Etc: it seemed as if every detail of the place was thoughtfully executed. Blazing fast WiFi, kids toys upstairs, coffee pour over bar, shampoo/conditioner, campfire wood provided, washer/dryer, full kitchen, soft carpeting, the hosts provided an extremely helpful welcome book for troubleshooting ANY problems you may have (and they made videos if you don’t want to read the welcome book!) Clearly I recommend anyone staying here. This place can be a stop on your trip, or a whole trip itself. Do yourself a favor, come to the church, hike in Shenandoah National Park, enjoy time with friends, family, significant other, or yourself, but do yourself a favor and come here. I most definitely will be back. Thank you, Iz and Johnny. This place was an amazing break from everyday life.

Views also can be enjoyed while relaxing in the large Jacuzzi tub or sitting in the swinging chairs on the patio! A large stone fireplace provides warmth for cozy and/or romantic evenings and a fire pit out back is perfect for roasting hot dogs, making s'mores, or just relaxing after the days end to share stories and good times. Please note, Vista Grande is not located in a secluded area, there are other homes in the area however most are other rentals and the neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful!! Regarding pets, please refer to "other things to note" for our pet policy and fee... also, charcoal for grill and firewood for fireplace / fire pit are not provided (firewood can be found locally for purchase). F.Y.I. --- for those with groups larger than 6, Vista Grande is next door to another one of our properties, "Relax at Acorn Hill" (which also sleeps 6)... although separated by a wooded lot, homes are close enough to walk between yet separate enough to enjoy a quiet and relaxing stay at both locations.
there is much to do depending on your likes... the Shenandoah River is close by for canoeing/kayaking, many hiking trails throughout the national parks and nearby areas, shop flea markets and antiques stores, visit local Virginia wineries, or just sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery while relaxing on one of the decks.
  • Great communication, had everything we needed just had to bring groceries just like they said! Check in and out was a breeze, the location its self comes with an incredible view, the neighbors were nice and respected our privacy, other neighbor is another rental down the street! Coulda sat in tub all day long

  • Beautiful view! The area is amazing and this place showcases it well. The house was fairly small, but just big enough that our family of 4 did not feel tight. I also enjoyed that I could let my 1 year old crawl around and not worry about his safety with no stairs. The host was quick to respond to my questions and provided many amenities you would need away from home. There were also many games and dvds. We did have some confusion with the tv (a little manual would help). Loved just soaking up the view in all the rooms. Thanks again!

  • Vista Grande was perfect for a weekend getaway from the city. Kitchen had everything you would need. A double porch allowed for beautiful views of the mountains. A nice relaxing jacuzzi tub. Ending up extending our getaway no only because of the property, but also because of Becky & David. Super communicative and flexible with us ending up staying around two extras nights. Can’t wait to come back!

    Jane2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place. The view is truly stunning, and the cabin itself is fantastic. Super cozy, has everything you need, is very clean, and has great air conditioning and heating. The hosts were very nice, communicative, helpful, and easy to reach.

  • I would stay in this Vista Grande again! Such a nice spot to get away from it all. David and Becky are Great hosts

  • Very beautiful view. Very clean and safe.

  • This place is beautiful with wonderful mountain views. Lots of places to hike in the area. We hiked to the top of Kennedy Peak, which is about a 15 min drive from the house. We also visited Luray Caverns. I highly recommend staying at one of David and Becky's homes!

We invite you to stay in our completely renovated home with all modern conveniences, including central AC, heat, & high speed WiFi. Our goal is to provide a superbly clean, safe, comfortable stay with access to a multitude of outdoor activities. Short walk to the River Outfitters for tubing, canoeing and kayaking. Public boat landing a block away. Short driving distance to Luray Caverns, George Washington National Forest and Shenandoah National Park. We are family friendly and love dogs.
Hi! We travel often for work and usually stay in Airbnb rentals around the world. From these experiences, we bought and renovated this home as a full-time vacation rental with all the little details we expect (and are often missing in other places). Basically, we created our dream Airbnb vacation stay. It's modeled on several Airbnbs that we visited in Norway, Denmark and Sweden (can you tell?). We are Airbnb SuperHosts and hope you'll read through our 5-star reviews to be confident in your booking. The Shenandoah Valley is our home and we love to share the undiscovered pleasures of this area. We have mountain ranges on either side of the valley with a gorgeous river running through it. We're proud to call Luray home. Our nightly price covers up to six guests. Kids are always welcome, and we're pet friendly (with prior approval). Just let us know who you're bringing so we can accommodate (need the high chair, pack n' play or dog bowls? Let us know!). If the Mid Century Home is booked or you're booking for several groups, please check out our other new renovated rental in Luray: Modern Farmhouse near Shenandoah Nat'l Park + Lake https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4169256 House: We have lovingly renovated this unique, mid century house and turned it into a modern home with a European style. The house is located on a small hill near the Shenandoah river with gorgeous views of the National Park. You'll wake up to the sunrise, then watch the sun slowly fall on the mountains as night comes. Though we are on a small road that follows the river, you'll feel secluded because there are no visible neighbors. We've updated the home with all conveniences, including central AC, heat and high speed WiFi. This is not a rustic cabin, but some seriously awesome luxury. A great way to enjoy the outdoors. If you have any special needs, just ask. We live a quick ten minutes away. Parking: The home is on a small hill with a concrete driveway that will allow you to drive right up to the front door. Two cars can park up top. One car can park at the bottom of the driveway, if needed. Bedrooms: The house sleeps up to six people, but also perfect for a couple who want a quiet getaway. There are two private bedrooms. The downstairs master suite has a Restoration Hardware king size bed and flat screen TV. The second, upstairs bedroom has a West Elm Queen Bed, flat screen TV and private deck with mountain views. There's also two adult-sized, handmade bunk beds that are built into the downstairs nook. You can use the heavy curtain to separate the space for privacy. Great for kids, or adults who are kids at heart. We gladly provide all bed linens and pillows. Bathrooms: We have a large full bathroom with a brand new, Americast soaking tub and rainhead shower. We provide shower gel, shampoo and towels. Living room: We like to spread out on two couches and the stylish West Elm wing chair. There are plenty of board games, playing cards, novels, kids books and backlogs of magazines to read. Or hook your phone up to the speakers and play music on the stereo (bluetooth or plug). Kitchen: The kitchen is fully equipped with an six person farm table. You’ll have everything you need to cook a holiday meal, bake cupcakes, or just make coffee + toast and use the microwave for simple reheating. The refrigerator is a smaller European model but can hold enough food for a big family. Plus we have an energy efficient dishwasher for easy clean up. We provide a blender, crock pot/slow cooker, pots, pans, dishes and all utensils. If you need anything we don’t have, we'll do our very best to accommodate. We provide a lot of "starter stuff" so guests don't have to over-buy for short stays (condiments, Olive oil, spices, bug repellent, sunscreen, etc). Coffee. We love it! So we provide a couple different ways to make coffee. We have a Bonavita drip machine with a reusable brass filter. Or you can use our stainless steel french press. We provide Starbucks Medium roast coffee, sugar (and non-sugars), creamer, stevia. If you bring your own beans, you can use our electric burr grinder. We provide different kinds of tea because tea is good too. Entertainment: The house and property has high speed WiFi access. We installed a Ubiquiti wireless router so the internet reaches to all corners of the yard and around the house. If they even have it, many local rentals have either slow satellite access or limited bandwidth from the cell tower. We made sure to get fast, unlimited broadband. Lounge inside to check your email and catch up on videos, or hang out on the deck while researching cool hikes online. Both flat screens are hooked up to Apple TVs. You can watch unlimited shows and movies on our Netflix account, or sign in to any of your accounts to watch what you want (NFL, NHL, HBO, MLB, iTunes, Hulu, etc). Kid stuff: Because you're probably traveling with enough stuff already, we do have a high chair, a Pak n' Play, and plastic eating dishes for small kids. Just let us know if there's an infant in your group so we can have things ready for your arrival. BBQ: We have a brand new Weber gas grill with plenty of fuel. Have fun cooking on our custom hand-laid stone patio. We have foil, wooden skewers, and all the tools you need. There's a rock fire pit to build small campfires on the side yard above the patio. You can either buy firewood from the store or adventure across the street to gather wood in the National Forest. Be careful crossing the road! Outdoor Space: Our crowning renovation achievement is the black locust hardwood deck with a view of the Shenandoah Mountain Range. Six Adirondack chairs allow you to enjoy the view with a cold drink (bottle openers on every chair). Sunrises and sunsets are priceless. With no light pollution, you can see the Milky Way from the porch at night. The yard is fairly steep since the home is on a hill, but there is an area to walk your dog right outside the door for quick relief. We also have a long leash secured to a pole on the front porch by the BBQ area so dogs can safely be outside while you're cooking or lounging on the benches. Shenandoah River Outfitters: 500 ft from our front door is the Shenandoah River Outfitters. Here you can rent tubes, canoes, or kayaks to float down the river. They handle everything including life preservers, floating coolers, and transportation to and from the river. We have their schedule and prices posted in the house. It's an all day adventure. If you have your own equipment to float, you can drop off at the Bixler's Ferry Bridge and get out at the public boat landing just down from our house. It's a nice 3-4 hour float. Fishing: The Shenandoah River offers plenty of spots to fish. There's also a small public lake two minutes from the house. The fish are kept stocked by the Fish and Wildlife department. Great for kids who demand guaranteed bites! George Washington National Forest: The forest includes the land across the street from us, but it's a fifteen minute drive to some of the best hiking trails in the area. The Stephens Trail Hike offers panoramic views of the Shenandoah Valley along the Massanutten Mountain ridge line, ending at the stunning panoramic Kennedy's Peak tower. It's a really fun hike (our favorite) with lots of chances to see wildlife. Luray Caverns: The Caverns are world famous since they were discovered over a century ago. The family who runs the Caverns have done a great job creating an inspiring, tasteful experience. It's a perfect place for an afternoon trip underground. There also plenty of other activities for kids like the giant maze and jungle gym. The Pioneer museum showcases demonstrations on how the first settlers in the area lived. Shenandoah National Park: We're twenty miles from the entrance to the Shenandoah National Park. It's a quick drive with no traffic lights between you and the Park. You can buy a day or week pass into the park to drive the 110-mile Skyline Drive. Or choose from the approximately 100 day hikes (of varying difficulty) that show off the Park's many waterfalls and vistas. We have booklets describing all the hikes. If you want to get 5 feet away from a deer, you'll be able to. Sometimes it's fun to eat at Skyland on top of the mountain where you can see the all of Page County below. Weddings: Luray is known for its beautiful wedding venues. Our house is a perfect home base to stay when attending your friend's or family's wedding. We're just 13 miles from Khimaira Farm and Faithbrooke. In order to help you look your best, we have a full length mirror, iron and ironing board, and lint rollers. Small Town USA: Luray is 10 miles away. It's the a quintessential small American town with a number of restaurants from fancy dining to burger joints. Gathering Grounds is our coffee shop with wifi. Every Saturday morning from May-September, there's a great Farmer's market in town to pick up local produce and meat from area farms. The indoor Willow Grove Farm Market sells locally produced food all year long. Several pizza places deliver to the Mid Century house if you just want to relax and let someone else cook. Treasure hunt at the antique stores, or grab outdoor gear at the outfitters. The 6-screen movie theater, a true local treasure, is open for matinee and evening screenings. Uncle Bucks is the sports bar where locals enjoy the game (stays open till 1am every night). Several groceries stores and Walmart will provide you with everything you need. There's also The Valley Cork wine bar that's open Thurs-Sunday 4-10 to enjoy a local (or int'l) wine tasting. Hawksbill Brewery recently opened where they make all their own beer. The Luray Zoo is on the edge of town and famous for rescuing exotic animals. Perfect for kids who want to safely get close to animals (like goats!). A newly renovated hospital w/ a 24-hour emergency room is close by. We provide a binder with maps of everything in the area and are just a text away if you have questions. Renewable Power: We buy 100% renewable power from our local electric coop (SVEC), which buys the power from Stony Creek Wind Farm. We have an outdoor 110v outlet if you want to trickle charge your electric car (we hope to see more of them!). If you are Elon Musk, we'd love a supercharger, but we'll have to stick with 110v for now!
This is a quiet, rural river community. Full time residents are friendly and wave to strangers!
  • Ryanne and Jay have truly thought of everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. From excellent hiking recommendations to a fully stocked kitchen, this place was exactly what we needed for a weekend getaway. We loved the European-style decor throughout, and the porch is just an amazing place to soak up some mid-day sun and relax. Communication was excellent and everything was as described! Hope to make it back here again soon.

  • We fell in love with the touch of modernness during our cabin trip to this house. It was exactly like what we imagined a perfect cabin trip in West Virginia would be. Highly recommend!!

    William2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t imagine a better AirBnB for visiting Shenandoah and the Luray area. Ryanne and Jay have put so much good time and effort and thought into this place. It looks even better in person, despite the excellent photos. We’ve never seen an AirBnB with so much cooking gear. Made meal making a breeze. Even the grill was impeccable clean. And somehow even the firewood was the best I’ve ever used haha. The hike they recommend has to be taken, if you’re able and interested. We actually liked it better than any we’ve done in Shenandoah proper.

  • Beautiful location, great for a mini family reunion with my brothers. Really appreciated the local suggestions. Would stay again!

  • A tranquil escape in the mountains.

    William2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place was AMAZING! I went for the weekend with a few friends and it exceeded all of our expectations. Inside is decorated beautifully and very stylish. The upstairs is PERFECT from the balcony, views, and huge couch to hangout on. Would definitely recommend, and stay here again.

    Lauren2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • As advertised, beautiful all around.

    Henry2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely wonderful. From the moment we walked in, it was quite clear that Ryanne and Jay had poured their hearts and souls into this cozy, yet surprisingly spacious home. I was vaguely familiar with Hygge, the Danish concept of creating happy spaces, before this trip, but having stayed here, I really get it now. The Hygge here is strong, with lots of wood, green plants, ample light, cozy nooks, and an abundance of great books. It was tempting to stay the whole weekend here without venturing to the nearby caves (our whole reason for coming to Luray), and next time we might just stay put! Ryanne and Jay, you’ve created something very special and we’re grateful that you shared it with us!

  • Really enjoyed our stay here. We discovered in the guestbook others had started a hide-a-dollar game, which was fun to figure out. Hot tub was very relaxing. Gorgeous views. The hosts left home-made cookies, and the place was stocked with wood and sand for the fire pit both next to the house and at the lake. There was also coffee, cooking pans, etc. Very warm and cozy. What a gorgeous walk to the lake, and a beautiful memory.

    Jamie2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning. We loved the views and how secluded and beautiful the area was.

  • Mike's cabin is a great spot to unwind! It's so nice being right on the Shenandoah River. We're definitely eyeballing it for a stay in the summer when we can spend time on the water. Mike was super friendly and very accommodating to our requests. We look forward to staying there again in the near future!

The Guest House was built in the late 1700's and is located on Secret Passage Ranch, close to the George Washington National Forest. There are 3 rooms available, or you can rent the entire house, so look for the listing that suits you best. You’ll love my place because it's nestled right in between the mountains providing spectacular views that will take your breath away. My place is great for families, groups, couples, or solo adventurers.
Please keep in mind that this is a working ranch. Access can be effected by weather and cell service is limited, so please call 540-933-6564 to confirm your reservation, discuss any special needs you have, or get directions (phone maps/GPS may not work in this remote area). All guests will have full access to the kitchen, dining, and living areas, as well as, the front and rear porches. Of course, guests are welcome to visit the horses and see (or be a part of) daily ranch activities.
Since we are located on a horse ranch, we offer trail rides at any time of the day starting at $35/hour per person! We also offer horseback riding lessons. Let us know if you are interested and we will get the horses ready for you! We are also located about 30 minutes from the famous Luray Caverns.
  • I would definitely recommend this place for a stay. The hosts were wonderful and hospitality was outstanding. Great accommodations as well as a great trail ride on the horses that are on location. It was a great weekend getaway to enjoy the great outdoors with beautiful vistas around you. We are already planning our return trip there.

    Donna M2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to escape the noise in the city. What makes this place extra special is the fact it is a horse ranch and you can enjoy riding horses and being around them all day everyday. Don and the people there are very welcoming and very flexible. They will work out anything for you and make you feel part of the family. Compare to other places, I find this place to be very genuine and people here live their lives normally without pretending to overdoing stuff. I highly recommend it.

    Mohammad2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • A unique and special old colonial farmhouse nestling in a picturesque valley, surrounded by hordes and cows.

    Clive2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very nice. There is a lot of history in the area and this house could nearly tell you about it. The land was very beautiful. My only regret is I was traveling and could not stick around longer. The bed was comfy with plenty of blankets in the cool temperatures. It got down to 36 outside but inside was nice and toasty once the wood stove got going.

    Krista2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was exactly what we needed. Nothing fancy! It was in the right location for our event and the price was right. The host was very easy to communicate with. We would stay there again.

    Pamela2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • W enjoyed our stay here!

    Becca2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • My neice and I stayed at the Guest House (in the room with the California King bed) for one night. The bed was absolutely amazing and having a private bathroom was very nice. The property gorgeous... We were welcome to use the other areas of the house as well and even sat out on the porch a couple times. The ranch is so peaceful and the views are really to die for. We enjoyed the horses on the property. Bill was a great host. I would highly recommend staying here.

    Nikki2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Fort Valley is absolutely beautiful. Enjoyed a short hike just up the road at Elizabeth Furnace recreation area. My wife and I really enjoy old houses and this one is something special. This is a real ranch; wood heat, horses, chickens, cattle, dogs and so on. The rustic edge is not for everyone but it suited us perfectly. Bill is the ranch hand and is around much of the time, personable and interesting. A genuine Valley experience for those who do not need a packaged resort experience, no doubt we will be back.
