The cottage sits just 3.5 miles from Cornhill-on-Tweed which has an excellent village shop selling a super selection of fresh local produce, including picnic hampers and scrummy home baking. It is also home to the highly regarded Collingwood Arms which has a pub as well as a superb restaurant for lingering lunches or fine evening dining. Alternatively, pop your wellies on and take a fifteen minute stroll over the field and woodland margins to the popular Bluebell Inn for a relaxing drink after supper. A more extensive range of shops, pubs and cafes can be found in the quaint market town of Coldstream (5 miles) where the shopping is small and friendly with a good mix of independent outlets running the length of the High Street, including a family butchers, fruit and veg shop, bakery and small Co-op supermarket for holiday provisions. The Coldstream Gallery is a lovely spot to browse art, ceramics and jewellery by local designers; or pop into Calico Interiors for lifestyle gifts and accessories before coffee and cake at the charmingly named ‘Mad Hatter’ nearby. A number of larger supermarkets, including a Marks & Spencers food outlet can be found in the historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (13 miles), or picturesque Kelso (14 miles) which has an excellent selection of independent shops set around a Flemish style market square. The cottage is located in the heart of North Northumberland and is exceptionally well placed for exploring the wider area. Seven miles in one direction will take you to the edge of the Northumberland National Park, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty with over 400 square miles of stunning landscapes, criss-crossed by over 700 miles of walking, biking and riding trails which follow the routes of ancient cattle drovers, taking in Iron Age stone fortifications and traces of Bronze Age hillforts amidst the tranquil and rugged landscape. Hop into your walking boots and you can join Northumberland Park Rangers for a guided walk from Wooler where you will learn much about the heritage and wildlife of the area, or follow sections of St. Cuthbert’s Way and enjoy some outstanding vistas along the route as it winds its way to the dune-fringed sands on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. For cycling, you will find everything from gentle low-level meanders to big hill country treks, including long-distance routes such as the Pennine Cycleway or the cycle challenges of the Wooler Wheel Hub. For families, the Breamish Valley is a popular area with pretty river picnic spots where children can paddle, followed by a walk to the lovely waterfall at Linhope Spout where you may even spot some wild Cheviot goats along the way. Alternatively, a warm welcome awaits you at Ford & Etal Estates (3 miles) which has a super range of family friendly activities with over twenty attractions to explore. Take a ride on Bunty on the very charming 15” gauge steam railway, follow the mouse trail around the Heatherslaw Corn mill or there is fishing, canoeing, cycle hire and a riding centre all nearby. For art lovers, a must-visit is the pre-Raphaelite murals at the Lady Waterford Hall, or explore the ruins of Etal Castle or the local heritage sites of nearby Flodden or Duddo Standing Stones, Northumberland’s equivalent of Stonehenge. The stunning heritage coastline is just a short half-hour drive away with miles of pristine sandy beaches, jolly pubs serving the freshest fish and chips, and picture postcard coastal villages with charming galleries and gift shops. Experience the exhilarating thrill of kitesurfing at Bamburgh, coasteering at Beadnell or perhaps just the simple pleasures of a picnic and a game of beach cricket on sands which remain almost deserted even in the summer months. History buffs will be enchanted by the rich heritage of the area, where dramatic castles and grand stately homes punctuate the landscape here, including imposing Bamburgh perched on its rocky outcrop above Bamburgh Beach; Alnwick, star of the Harry Potter films; or Chillingham, said to be the most haunted castle in Britain and home to the only wild cattle in the world. Fishing is available on the River Till about a ten minute drive and is one of the area's best kept secrets with an impressive sea trout run each spring said to be the best in the country. Trout permits are available for as little as £5 per day and rods, reels and waders can be hired locally.

  • Perfect little house for two - plus dog. Beautifully presented, great location. So quiet and peaceful. Welcome pack with home made goodies was a bonus. We made trips to Lindisfarne, Berwick, a boat trip to the Farne Islands and to the battle site at Flodden Field. The Collingwood Arms at Cornhill-on-Tweed and The Border at Kirk Yetholm are well worth a visit to eat in the evening. Very relaxing few days.

Sitting just off the A1, the Apartment is perfectly located for short breaks or longer stays throughout any season and provides an excellent base to explore the wider Northumberland and Borders area. With the main East Coast Rail Line running through Berwick it is also an ideal car-free destination served by good local services. Sitting just a five minute walk from the town centre, the property benefits from excellent amenities right on the doorstep. In one direction, you will find a selection of characterful shops on Castlegate including a book shop, an antique centre, a deli and a fantastic vintage shop, as well as ‘Pier Red’ where you can sip a rich espresso whilst browsing art works and collectibles by popular Northern artists. Also look out for their regular jazz evenings where you can unwind to the smooth, mellow sounds of talented local musicians. A walk in the other direction will take you to Marygate, the town’s main street where you will find a mix of high street names along with local traders. Other small independent names and quirky shops can be found around the cobbled lanes and closes of the historic old quarter, as well as Hide Hill shops and cafes for a coffee and cake stop. There is a good Antique Centre and gift/interior shops on Bridge Street including one or two great eating spots - Audela for incredible cakes and Gasparo for hearty Italian fayre. Two large supermarkets including a Marks & Spencers food outlet sit on the edge of town. The area has a rich food heritage and there is something to cater for all tastes and budgets here from tasty fish and chips on the promenade to cosy pubs, characterful cafes or bistro restaurants such as The Maltings Kitchen serving tempting light-bites or a pre-theatre dinner. Alternatively, why not pop the wine in the fridge and arrange for a platter of seafood to be delivered straight to your door by the Berwick Shellfish Company - oysters reared in the clear North Sea beds of Lindisfarne, lightly smoked kippers from traditional local smokehouses, or perhaps some freshly dressed lobster or langoustines - perfect for a romantic evening-in! With its rich history, charming Georgian architecture, vibrant cultural and arts scene, golden beaches, superb wildlife, extensive leisure opportunities, as well as links to long distance walking and cycling routes, the whole area is quite simply packed with interest. Walk the outstanding Elizabethan walls of the Old Town taking-in ancient bastions, watchtowers and gun batteries - testament to Berwick’s turbulent past defending England from the Scots. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of the coast and Tweed estuary before a visit to the Hawksmoor-designed Berwick Barracks with three separate museums showcasing its military history, as well as part of Sir William Burrell’s art collection. Next follow Berwick’s Lowry Trail and discover the cobbled streets and seaside scenes depicted in the paintings of the great ‘matchstick men’ painter who was captivated by the town and the area. If that sparks your creative side, why not spend an afternoon out-and-about drawing and painting under the tuition of a renowned local artist. Berwick has a thriving arts scene at the centre of which is the charming Maltings Theatre which hosts a packed diary of theatre, cinema, dance, comedy and music. There are also a number of galleries in the town, including the Watchtower which hosts a diverse number of events, guest artists and musicians. For something a bit different, take a boat trip from Berwick upstream to Paxton House, a superb Adam mansion which is home to the largest private gallery of any country home in Scotland with an extensive collection of paintings dating from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, many of which have been loaned by the National Galleries of Scotland. The town hosts a number of events throughout the year including the Riding of the Bounds in May which follows the ancient tradition of riding the town’s boundaries to guard against thieving Reivers; the Seaside Festival in August which includes street entertainers, Punch and Judy, live music, and sandcastle competitions; the Food and Beer Festival in September which is a mouthwatering opportunity to sample all the region’s superb produce; and the Film and Media Arts Festival, the largest of its type in the region. The area has over 26 miles of fantastic beaches just made for lazy picnics and outdoor adventures. Spittal beach is popular with families with wide golden sands, an attractive promenade and fun splash park, while Cocklawburn, Goswick and Cheswick beaches all sit close by. The stunning beach at Bamburgh is a also a must-visit, sitting just a short 20 minute drive from Berwick. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is about a 20 minute drive from Berwick, only accessible by a causeway at low tide. A designated National Nature Reserve, this tiny, picturesque island is often described as ‘The Jewel of the Northumberland Coast’. It is an overwhelmingly mystical place, home to the evocative remains of a ruined eleventh-century priory, a beautifully restored castle and the infamous Lindisfarne Mead. There is excellent bird watching on the Tweed estuary around the town and also further afield at St Abb’s Head and the Farne Islands - home to a resident colony of grey seals in addition to an impressive array of birdlife including puffins, guillemots, razorbills and terns. There are two golf courses close by; Magdalene Fields five minutes from the town offers superb views of the famous Elizabethan walls, the cliffs leading into Scotland and the iconic castles at Bamburgh and Holy Island. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty six miles south of Berwick, Goswick is a highly-regarded links course selected as an Open qualifying course. For a city day out, Berwick Station is about a 10 minute walk from the apartment offering an easy day trip to the magnificent sights of Edinburgh, just 45 minutes journey by train.
  • A wonderful taste in décor has created this beautiful apartment finished to a very high standard. There was everything that we could possibly need to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable and the apartment was immaculately clean. It is very easy to park close to the accommodation which is just a couple of minutes walk to the centre of Berwick and less than 10 minutes walk to the main East Coast railway station at Berwick. The apartment is also ideally placed to visit Edinburgh and The Royal Yacht Britannia and coastal attractions of the Northumberland coast. The property agents were extremely efficient and helpful and access to the property on arrival was very straightforward. Thank you Brian and Patricia for welcoming us to your delightful apartment and for the kind welcome gifts. We will certainly pass on your details to friends visiting Northumberland and would definitely stay at the apartment when we next visit the area. Gill, Steve and Will Burrow

  • After checking the details online we had high expectations of the cottage and we were not disappointed, this is a lovely spacious cottage. Great location with lots of nice walks only a short drive away.

    Brian2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely few days at Mona's Cottage with wife and baby. The little one's only a month old so we stayed in quite a lot, and this place was perfect for it - warm, homely and snug. The kitchen is nicely laid out for cooking and has a useful range of supplies, the wide, deep bath was very much enjoyed by my wife and overall it was a lovely place to stay. Jaqcui greeted us on arrival and was very warm and welcoming. The nearby Holy Island of Lindisfarne is somewhere I've always wanted to visit and it did not disappoint, a lovely place for a day out and unlike anywhere I've been before. Bad weather and a crying baby limited our outdoor adventures a little but we'd love to go back and explore the area more.

  • We (me, my wife and 8 month old) stayed at Mona’s for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The house is spotless throughout, very well equipped, handy for Berwick and the beach, and most of all, a very comfortable place to return to after a day out walking or sightseeing round Holy Island or St Abbs for example. We’ll be back in 2020. Jacqui is a super host also and very quick to respond and welcoming.

  • Stayed one night, exactly as described. Although the Shepherd's Hut is behind a house, in a small village, you feel very secluded, very comfortable with scenic views. If you're looking for something simple, rustic and too escape from the busyness of life then James' Shepherd Hut is perfect. Enjoyed our stay, would stay again and highly recommend! Also the assortment hamper was a lovely touch, that made us feel very welcome.

  • Fantastic airbnb. Snug and charming with lovely touches. Really loved having the log burner lit, made really easy as it was all set up ready to go. Everything we needed in the kitchen to book a meal. Stayed for a wedding in nearby Ellingham Hall. Highly recommend.

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Cuddy’s Rest in February 2020 (the weekend Storm Dennis hit!) but Cuddy’s Rest was so warm and cosy we didn’t even noticed. Loved the wood burner and the kitchen had everything we needed for staying in with a home cooked meal. Great location for day trips, only a couple of miles from the A1, we visited Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh and Holy Island. Would definitely stay again.

  • Stayed here so that we could have a relatively short journey each day in to the Lindisfarne Festival nearby. Lovely, comfortable stay. Berwick upon Tweed is a short distance away and has a lovely ramparts walk around the town. We were recommended the nearby Union Chain suspension bridge and Honey Farm, both of which did not disappoint. The cafe at the Honey Farm is in a double decker bus!

  • It's a great little place clean and warm next to the beach in a lovely village you couldn't ask for more.

  • Charlotte's place is absolutely fantastic. We used it as a base for exploring the Northumberland coast in cold February, and it provided a warm and welcome place to return to each evening. Extremely well appointed and furnished. And Charlotte's parents, Christine and John, who manage it were extremely thoughtful hosts. Would absolutely recommend to anyone thinking of staying locally.

  • Templars cottage was perfect. It was very clean and tidy superbly decorated and a joy to stay in.We were greeted with a welcome basket containing lots of local produce which was a very nice touch. We have never been to the area before so the cottage was the perfect base to explore this wonderful county .I could not recommend the cottage highly enough for anyone who wants to visit the area and we hope to return at a later date to explore some more of this spectacular coast line. Thanks very much for the use of the cottage.

  • Charlotte responded very quickly to our booking with confirmation and details of cottage, also sending directions. Cottage was just as described really lovely, comfortable and very clean, also a very well equipped kitchen. The welcome basket was great too with samples of local produce. It was really nice to be able to walk down and along the beach in a matter of minutes. Berwick upon Tweed was only a short drive away , good to walk round the walls and some really good places to eat.

  • A lovely cottage - such an amazing location just a few steps from the beach. We were warmly welcomed, treated with a thoughtful welcome basket and were impressed by how well equipped the cottage was. We had a great stay and would highly recommend it.

  • Four days we spent in this wonderful charming little apartment. Everything was very very clean and cozy. We were super friendly welcomed. A basket of delicious local food for us was already in the kitchen. And when we reached a taxi on departure, the hostess offered us to drive us to the train station. On foot we walked about 35 minutes to Berwick-upon-Tweed. From the apartment there are only 50 meters from the beautiful long beach and the beach promenade of Spittal, which would certainly suitable for warmer weather you can swim. Our hosts have informed us about bus times and excursions. We have felt ourselves very well.

  • On our way from the Highlands to the ferry in Newcastle, Berwick was the ideal location for an overnight stay. The cottage is very nicely decorated and was a warm and cozy haven on a cold and stormy December night. The town of Berwick pleasantly surprised us with some nice shops, including a well-stocked organic shop on South Street, and also several nice cafes and pubs. The next morning we made a detour to Holy Island, highly recommended!

  • Just back from an amazing stay at Lizzie's. The cottage was absolutely perfect and Jacqueline thought of everything (arriving at 10pm tea bags and milk were welcomed!!). The cottage is about 10 minutes from Berwick on the bus for those looking for a hearty pub and a pint, and the cottage is no distance at all from a beautiful stretch of beach (take a thermos tho if you want a coffee!). Will definitely keep this place in mind for future stays on the coast :)

    Gemma2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • A very well appointed cottage - super comfortable, stylish and sparkling clean! A lovely place to stay, close to the beautiful coast - we would happily recommend it.

  • Jacqui's cottage is like home from home I cannot recommend it enough. Its in a quite village with lovely walks down to the amazing beach and with so many great places to visit near by. the beds are so comfy the cottage is beautifully decorated with all the things you need and very warm in the mornings as it was the time of year when there was a chill in the air. Jacqui was always on hand if we needed to know anything. Jacqui has worked so hard to make this cottage such a welcome and she has others too under McLaren Cottages. You cannot go wrong staying in such a idyllic part of the county of Northumberland and its 70 miles of unspoilt coastline and sandy beaches. Thank you again Jacqui Andy and Dawn x

  • Lizzie's cottage was a perfect base for our family of four. We discovered the stunning Cocklawburn beach on our first night and ended up buying great pizza from Pizzaiolo in town and having a picnic on the beach. It remains our favourite beach after a two week holiday in Fife and Northumberland and we probably visited every day. Great start! The cottage is comfy, clean, well kept and felt loved as opposed to a soulless holiday let. Jacqueline was very helpful and on hand to sort any issues if needed. Berwick itself is a friendly and pretty town and the walk around the fortified walls is stunning. Lastly, we felt the cottage was very good value for money compared to similar properties we looked at.

Cosy, welcoming traditional station worker's cottage in a rural setting close to the coast. We're situated close to the railway at Belford on the Northumberland Coastal Route, only a mile's drive from Budle Bay and 2 miles to Bamburgh Castle and stunning beaches.
The cottage was originally a railway worker's home, and has been upgraded to retain its original features but provides modern comforts too. So there is an open fire in an original Georgian fireplace in the lounge, and a Rayburn in the well-equipped kitchen, but this also runs full central heating and there is a dishwasher, separate oven and hob. Ground floor: Kitchen/dining room with Rayburn, oven, microwave, washing machine, fridge Living room with open fire, basic Sky and Freeview TV, DVD, CD. Bathroom with bath and shower over. First floor: 2 double bedrooms 1 with double bed, 1 with small double and single futon, travel cot available. Outside: Enclosed lawned front garden, large grassed open area to the rear. Garden furniture. Fuel, Oil CH, electricity, and use of WiFi included
The cottage makes a great base for any season to tour Northumberland or the Scottish borders, Holy Island, the Cheviot Hills, ancient sites, coastal villages and market towns. Alnwick Castle and its famous Garden is 12 miles away, where there is also a theatre and weekly market. Belford with farm shop, cafes, restaurants, supermarket, pubs and post office is 1 mile away. Only a mile away there is a bird-spotting paradise at Budle Bay and it's 2 miles to Bamburgh with its beautiful sandy beach and castle.
  • Julia’s cottage is in a great location - easy to access the beautiful countryside and towns nearby. Cottage itself is lovely and cosy, and the fire is a bonus (it was freezing when we were there!). It’s right next to a railway track, but we didn’t find this disturbing and quite enjoyed listening to the trains! We’d definitely come back.

    Deborah2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We've just returned home after a long weekend stay at station cottage. It was a great base for exploring the area. A very enjoyable stay, we loved playing board games in the living room on the cosy sofa, in front of the beautiful roaring open fire place. The bedding and towels were all impeccably clean and Julia had made it festive with tasteful Christmas decorations and left some bubbly and shortbread for our arrival. The cottage was surprisingly spacious yet also cosy. The cottage is close to the railway line as the name suggests, but didn't cause us any disturbance.

    Samantha2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Railway cottage is lovely, it very comfortable and very well equipped. Its location is ideal for Alnwick, Berwick, Bamburgh Castle.

  • This was our third visit to Julia’s cottage, and we’ll be booking again for next year. We find our stays so comfortable and relaxing. We love the Rayburn in the kitchen and the fireplace in the living room, we love watching the trains go by and reading on the comfy settee, we love the many fabulous local walks and beaches, spending time at Barter Books in Alnwick, visiting Holy Island and Berwick.

    Andi2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Another lovely few days. Love the cottage and the location. Hope to return.

    Neil2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, very close to Bamburgh and the surrounding coastline, including Holy Island, Seahouses and Embleton Bay. The passing trains didn't bother us at all, they do start early but don't run through the night. Very comfortable furniture, lovely open fire. We had everything we needed . Would recommend.

A traditional shepherd’s hut with a modern twist, surrounded by native hedging with uninterrupted views over open countryside. This cosy retreat promises to let you unwind in country style. You can put your feet up in front of a toasty log burner after a day exploring or watch the sunset while barbequing in the evening… and when the night falls, the dark starry skies here are sensational, just the thing before snuggling up in a luxurious double bed, listening to the calls of the tawny owls.
We believe at the Shepherd's Rest that your holiday with us is an opportunity to unwind, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and reconnect with them. So we don't supply Wi-Fi on site (although a 4G signal is available) and in the Hut we supply a radio. We don’t supply a TV or DVD player as way of a digital detox. We supply plenty of books and games in the Hut for you to read or play, so you can have time to relax, unwind or even be inspired! The Kitchen area in the Hut has the following facilities : fridge, belfast sink for dishwashing, microwave oven, electric kettle for making hot beverages and there is also a gas BBQ with Hob available for alfresco cooking. On site facilities consist of two additional Huts, one with a flushing toilet and sink, the other cabin has a mains electric shower. They are always pristinely presented and beautifully decorated. There is a kitchen building, which has a large sink with hot and cold water, tourist information leaflets, free range eggs for sale, hairdryer and a table and chairs. Cars remain in the car park, and we do not accept dogs. As we have a small farm, you are welcome to meet our animals, including sheep, pigs, hens and ponies, along with viewing wildlife such as deer, buzzards, lots of farmland birds, foxes and badgers.
We are fortunate enough to live on a small farm in Foulden, a rural village in the eastern Scottish Borders, just 5 miles from Berwick-Upon-Tweed and its mainline train station. It is a secluded quiet location, free from traffic jams and suburban noise, allowing you to unwind and relax with just the sounds of wildlife and farm animals as a backdrop. We are close to some fabulous beaches, Coldingham and Cheswick being our particular favourites, magnificent castles and stately homes including Floors Castle, Manderston and Paxton House. Nearby Ayton, is home to The Hemelvaart Bier Café, a trendy continental style bier café bar which hosts live music, film and comedy events. The Scottish Borders is a beautiful, relatively undiscovered region, the gateway to Scotland, convenient for Edinburgh, the Lothians and North Northumberland. We started our family farm here in 2003, built our own farmhouse and transformed the land into a nature-friendly grassland farm, planting diverse traditional hedges for wildlife corridors and encouraging biodiversity. By grazing our sheep and Scottish native breed ponies on a non-intensive system, the wildlife here has flourished enormously over the years. We enjoy a huge variety of small birds, from robins, yellowhammers, wrens, house sparrows, tits and woodpeckers to buzzards soaring high on the thermals. The summer is very special, with the return of swallows from Africa and skylarks hovering way up in the sky, singing their hearts out! In the autumn and winter, fieldfares and huge flocks of migrating geese pass through. At night, we are lucky that there is no light pollution, allowing fantastic stargazing opportunities – you may hear barn and tawny owls too! In the spring when we are lambing, you can see the lambs with their mums, exploring their brand new world. You can also see groups of deer, pheasants, badgers, foxes and hares on the farm.
  • Lovely tranquil place , just far enough off the beaten track to escape from the mayhem of everyday life. Total peace and quiet through the night, no light pollution and amazing countryside!

  • The Shepherd’s Rest is a perfect little getaway and we really enjoyed our stay. The hut is adorable, well presented, well equipped and very cosy with log-burner. The location is peaceful and secluded yet handy for things to do and see n the Borders. The communication with Mark was always quick and helpful. We would highly recommend this little shepherd’s hut. We’ll most definitely be back : )

  • The shepherds hut is located in a small campsite surrounded by fields and next to a working farm/the owners house. The views are beautiful, as is Foulden. There are lots of lovely surrounding towns and villages such as Berwick and Ayton, and it’s not too far from Edinburgh. There were plenty of cooking facilities, a well kept shower and toilet block a stones throw away from the cabin, games in the cabin, eating utensils, a heating oven, and pretty much everything you could need/want and more. Would definitely rec

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the hut in this beautiful part of the country, and would have happily stayed for longer. It’s on a lovely little spot on a quiet campsite and has everything you need. Mark and Alison were lovely hosts and I’d definitely recommend this place as a quiet retreat.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Shepherd's Hut. It was peaceful, clean and quirky- just what we wanted and more! Thank you.

    Tim2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at the Shepherd's Rest hut. Mark was very welcoming and friendly and the hut itself was super clean with little touches like milk being already in the fridge and flowers on the table.A wood burning stove, complete with a supply of logs ,was a bonus although we didn't need to light it as the hut was very cosy. The toilet was only yards away and there is an efficient hot shower too. A separate kitchen hut has a sink, hot water, a small table and chairs ,a supply of farm eggs/beans/soup etc, with an honesty jar, a microwave and even a hairdryer ,all of which must be great if you are tent camping. The surrounding area has lots of attractions but our favourite was at Hay Farm Heavy Horses. Gorgeous Clydesdale stallions, foals and mares which we were fortunate to be able to watch being shoe'ed and having dental treatment carried out. All in all, we'd highly recommend Shepherd's Rest hut ......you'll love it!

  • The Loft is a perfect place to stay in Berwick. The amenities are excellent and much thought has gone into the furnishings and design, making it feel very comfortable. Emma is an excellent host, providing many extras, even fresh milk in the fridge! The Loft is ideally situated to explore all that Berwick has to offer. A real gem, and I’m sure I’m not the only guest who would happily return there.

    Christine2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Emma's loft is a really stylish and comfortable space close to the town centre. It has a private entrance, ensuring your stay is nice and quiet. It makes innovative use of space and feels very modern (I particularly liked the wee kitchenette area!). It's perfect for a short sight-seeing stay in the area.

    Kevin2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This a really great place to stay if you're in the region. We were touring the Northumberland coast and Scottish Borders. The loft was really lovely. Really well located within Berwick (which is a lovely, interesting town), with access through the two small courtyards. The loft itself is a good size, not too small, not too big. Really beautifully furnished and decorated, it was super clean and very comfortable with a great atmosphere. Nice and bright. Great bed, lovely bathroom with a great shower and bath. There's no kitchen, but the small fridge (which was already stocked with milk) and the selection of teas, great coffee, cafetiere, plates, cutlery etc is enough if you have some food with you. Emma was a great host, and super easy to communicate with. We had a great time. Highly recommended.

  • This is a fabulous room in a great location right in the middle of the delightful Berwick-upon-Tweed. Though in the middle of town the room is really quiet. Loads of space and easy access off the street but overlooking a sweet little courtyard at the back. Emma could not do enough for me and they were always very responsive to even the most minor query. Incredibly good value for a fine private living area in the most convenient location.

Everything about our stay was fantastic, extremely clean, lovely extra touches, well equiped, and lovely and warm on our arrival on a bitterly cold day, much appreciated. Thank you Jane, no doubt we will be back again to your lovely, relaxing little hideaway.

  • The Turkey House is an oasis of peace and tranquillity. 5 🌟 luxury accommodation. Feels remote, yet is only 15 minutes from the centre of Berwick, 5 minutes from major supermarkets and a great farm shop in the local garden centre. Don't forget to visit Paxton House - the host has kindly left passes in the information pack.

  • My wife, my 6 month old daughter and I recently stayed at the incredibly picturesque Dene Cottage for 2 nights and we couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more. Not only is the accommodation beautifully appointed and impeccably clean, the hospitality and warmth Georgina provided is second to none. Each morning Georgina put on an amazing spread for breakfast: Bacon, eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms plus a wonderful assortment of cereals, muesli’s and Jams for our Croissants. She also offered to hold our daughter Sienna for us while we ate! Georgina is very knowledgeable about the local area and is more than happy to offer recommendations on things to see and do and places to eat. Make sure you eat at the nearby Cross Inn, a small local pub in Paxton. The food and service there is excellent. Georgina really made our stay a special one and we can’t thank her enough. Regards, The Vardis Family Melbourne, Australia.

    Michael2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow - absolutely amazing stay at Georgina’s beautiful cottage. We were warmly greeted with a cup of tea and a lovely chat, the room was sparkling clean and extremely cozy, handy local restaurant tips, a beautiful jogging route in and out of the forest, delicious home cooked breakfast with personal touches. Couldn’t have asked for better, one of the best AirBnBs we have stayed at. Thank you so much, Georgina! :)

  • What an amazing place to stay. The house itself is a beautiful piece of architecture full of history. The room was spotlessly clean and very well appointed. Georgina was a wonderful host and could not been more helpful she is a very interesting lady to chat to. There are lovely walks around the grounds of Paxton Hall and a local country pub about a mile away which did amazing food (The Cross Inn) I think. Breakfast was really nice a full English plus lots of fresh fruits, yoghurts, nuts and freshly brewed coffee. Could not recommend it highly enough.

  • Georgina's place is very special, beautiful surroundings and tasteful furnishing, relaxing and quiet. Georgina is a great host and makes you feel at home . Lovely room in beautiful Berwick-upon-Tweed town. Walking distance from shops, train station, tourist attractions, beach and the golf course. The bedroom on offer is a single bedroom with a pullout bed that turns into a double, the price is for a single room so please don’t expect to have the same standard of a double room for the price paid. Towels, hairdryer, bedding provided - bring your own toiletries. Note: Gingie our friendly cat and Pandora our rascal Labrador are part of our family.
PLEASE NOTE: the price is for a SINGLE bedroom with pullout bed that turns into a double. The price is for a single bedroom occupancy but happy to accommodate a couple sharing the pullout bed AT NO EXTRA COST as long as you understand that this is completely out of kindness as you are only paying for a single person’s occupancy. PLEASE, keep your expectations realistic that this is ideally a single room hence the price as double rooms in town will cost you more!
Train station, town centre, local shops and tourist attractions, the landscape is the best mixture between country and sea. Nearby tourist attractions includes Holy Island of Lindisfarne causeway, Alnwick Castle (home to Harry Potter inspired events), Duddo standing stones (north Northumberland own Stonehenge), Bamburgh Castle ( Anglo-Saxon fortification - Last Kingdom novel inspired and Netflix series, and many other films), Chillingham Castle ( the most haunted castle in UK), Cheviot Hills, St Abbs ( Transformers - New Asgard), Lindisfarne Islands, Northumberland/ Scottish Borders beautiful coastal path, 60 miles away from either Edinburgh and Newcastle.

Our holiday cottage has wonderful views of open farm land and you can relax in the morning watching the wildlife from your super king size bed.
Linnet Cottage is situated on a 600 acre organic arable farm. It is very peaceful. Your neighbours are quiet and have lived here for a long time. The farm has three holiday cottages in total and everyone respects each other's privacy. The beach is 15 minutes by car and there you will find some of the most spectacular unspoilt Northumbrian coastline.

  • Lovely farm cottage, spotlessly clean and in excellent location. Many thanks Laura

    Julie2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned home from a lovely weekend staying at Linnet Cottage - two days probably wasn’t long enough! We have family nearby so it was the perfect base to be with our two very young children! Laura couldn’t have done more for us in terms of providing equipment (travel cot, changing mat, bed guard etc - she made a special visit to the cottage with the bed guard when I asked if she had one, which was so very appreciated!) and it’s things like that when travelling with young children that make all the difference - so thank you! It’s such a beautiful cottage in the most perfect scenery with miles of fields and gorgeous Northumberland landscape to look out to! But also great distance to Berwick and locals supermarkets! The cottage itself is clean, very well equipped and although we didn’t have our dogs with us this time the garden would have been perfect for them. We will return to this gorgeous place, and thank you again Laura for your amazing hospitality, what a find!!

    Cassie2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Laura is very kind person who can do many things that you want, help us find a taxi from the town, her cottage is perfect nice quiet clean and warm, you can see horse in the yard , 🦅 on the tree, lovely dog around the corner. Hope next time we back again!

    Ni2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage with great views out the back. Very clean and cosy with some nice touches. Would definitely stay here again and recommend-thank you!

    Annette2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely rural setting & views, with loads of things to see and lovely walks nearby; great base for an outdoorsy holiday with our dog. The cottage is really comfy and has everything you need.

    Katie2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Linnet Cottage is a lovely base from which to explore Northumberland and the Borders. It was small but perfect for the 2 of us plus dog, and the fixtures and fittings were a cut above what I usually expect from airbnb -- the kitchen was well stocked with decent kit, the bed linens were gorgeous Egyptian cotton, the shower was fantastic! The postage stamp garden looked directly over vast rolling fields, so it had the advantage of a vista, whilst still being a contained space for the dog. Thornton farm is a working arable farm, but still quiet and peaceful. But having a car is key, as most everything is a drive away (supermarket 7 minutes drive to outskirts of Berwick, etc). Still, with a car, the location is convenient to loads of lovely walks, beaches, and castles. Laura was an exemplary host, accommodating to allergies and full of helpful local information. Highly recommended.

The caravan is located at Haggerston Castle holiday park in Northumberland. If you wish to use facilities inside the complex such as swimming and night time entertainment you will need to purchase passes from reception, prices for these can be found on the haven website. There is a tv in the living room with Netflix and another in the larger twin room. There is plenty of kids games, dvds, cooking utensils feel free to use everything but please leave it all how you found it when you leave. Thanks
The park is close to Berwick-upon-Tweed, Holy Island, Sea Houses, Alnwick castle and gardens, Paxton house and many more great locations if you fancied a trip out and there is plenty of family activities, entertainment and places to eat and shop on the site. The park is beautifully landscaped around the castle and lakes, perfect for an evening stroll after a meal or a few drinks.

  • We used Steven’s caravan as a base for trips we had planned in the area. We stayed 3 nights over the weekend. As former static owners ourselves, we were very impressed with the cleanliness and standard of the place and it is equipped extremely well with lots of homely touches adding to it. The caravan is located in a nice quiet area very close to the main building. The site is a lovely place too although we didn’t use the facilities in the main building due to the trips out we had planned. We would have no hesitation in returning the next time we visit the area. Thanks very much for your hospitality. Paul and family

The Smithy is an oasis of peace nestled in the centre of the historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Dogs are welcome to stay; the chickens are kept in a separate space so that curious canines aren't tempted :)
The smithy is a warm open-plan space with a semi-industrial feel. Guests have the entire space to themselves, full central heating, kitchen, double oven and luxury bathroom.
There's a vegan cafe directly opposite the front door. It's a 15-minute walk to the beach, a 5-minute walk to the river and a few steps from Berwick's trendiest street which has plenty of live music, art galleries, restaurants, a charcuterie and organic/vegan shops. Further afield, Holy Island, Alnwick Castle (the venue used for Hogwarts in Harry Potter) and Bamburgh Castle are definitely worth a visit.
  • We had an amazing time in Berwick; not only were Bill, Sarah and Yvonne incredibly hospitable and communicative, the cottage is beautiful and so cosy. Even better than it looks in the pictures.

    Kitty2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at the cottage, great location and has everything you could want inside. Everything has been thought of. Hosts are wonderful and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Will definatley return when back in the area!

  • Bill and Yvonnes place is lovely. Wonderful location. 10 mins walk from station. Lovely restaurants etc. We absolutely loved it and will be back. The space is small but beautifully furnished and equipped. Plenty of food for breakfast and freshly laid eggs from the chickens. Great to have met Bill and we look forward meet to Yvonne on our next visit.

    Andrew2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing space. Bill was a smashing host. Many thoughtful things left for guest use. The cottage was spotless.I will definitely be looking to return

    Sharon2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing little cottage. Exactly as described and in the perfect position on Bridge Street. Great shops and bars just outside the door. The cottage is spotless and the little touches Yvonne puts in are lovely. The cottage has everything you could want for a cosy weekend away. It's so lovely we have booked for Christmas.

    Michelle2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Bill was extremely welcoming on arrival, he gave us tips on where to eat and even showed us his and Yvonne's upper garden and chickens. A parking pass was provided so we could park nearby which was helpful. The cottage was beautifully styled with wonderful original art work (by Yvonne?) inside. The cottage was warm, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The cottage had everything we could possible need - eggs, tea/coffee, a bottle of wine/beer, tinned goods etc. - there was even painkillers in the drawer which was a life saver! We throughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again if we were in the area. Many thanks Bill and Yvonne x

  • This place is so special! It’s in THE best location in Berwick, quiet and private yet on the best street for quirky shops, fab restaurants, cafes and pubs. Two minutes walk to the walls. The cottage itself is super stylish and has everything you could possibly need. I’d recommend in a heartbeat.

    Hannah2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • The secret cottage is an absolute and utter gem, with Yvonne and Bill’s attention to detail and colour a pure joy to behold. We felt completely at home and so comfortable in our surrounds from the moment Bill checked us in. The added treats of fresh eggs and delicious bread for breakfast, a bottle of wine, all the crockery and utensils we could possibly need, and a wonderful selection of toiletries setting these hosts well apart from others. The location, nestled behind a street of some of the nicest bars and restaurants in Berwick, a total bonus. Do not hesitate to book this stunning accommodation - you will not regret it!

1906 listed building with stylish internal conversion. The cottage has gas central heating and a woodburning stove with starter basket of logs provided free. A modern stainless steel kitchen and a wonderful view of the river from your sofa
The cottage is in a quiet street overlooking the river yet is only one minutes walk from the centre of the historic market town of Berwick-upon-Tweed
  • The 4 of us (2 couples) stayed at the cottage from 21st to 24th February to celebrate two birthdays and although the weather was awful it was lovely to return to the cosy comfort of Martin and Rosie's lovely cottage and the warmth of that wood burner. The hosts were friendly and helpful and we really appreciated their little finishing touches especially the bottle of wine on arrival. Thank you. Hopefully we will visit again when the weather gets warmer. Berwick itself has a lot to offer and the pubs and restaurants were nearly all dog friendly which for us was a bonus as we had our two dogs with us.

    Patricia2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Stay at this wonderful place. It’s within the ancient walled township and everything is in walking distance. The accomodation is beautiful, clean and tidy with plenty of space for four people. Prompt communication and a warm welcome from the host topped off a marvellous few days. I will be recommending this place to everyone I know.

    Sherwin2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful relaxing stay at Bankhill cottage. Super location, quiet but central, lovingly converted church hall. Great and easy communication with Martin. Loved the stove. Thoroughly recommended.

    Sarah2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Another fantastic stay at Martin's place! The cottage is in a super convenient location with stunning views. Martin was a great host, who responded to any queries quickly and helpfully. He even popped round with extra kindling to make sure the log burning stove was fully fuelled! And the hospitable extra touches, like milk and the fridge and a bottle of wine, were much appreciated. A lovely, peaceful stay.

    Sarah2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, easy access to Walls walk, river walk and the 'old' town with some great little wine bars. House has all the accessories you need and a great homely feel especially with the great logburner in the lounge. Easy and safe dog walking from right outside the house with a very quiet road and lots of footpaths.

    Simon2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage and very close to the centre of Berwick, Martin was there to meet us and show us round and provided lots of thoughtful little touches. Would highly recommend it.

This cottage is 1 mile from the A1 and just under a mile from the beach on a national cycle route. Berwick is approximately 6 miles away where there is plenty to see and Lindisfarne is a few miles away. The area has an abundance of beaches, castles and historic houses. The accommodation offered is a double room with 5ft bed, television, and provision to make hot drinks in the room. Guests have use of their own private bathroom, not en suite, with shower over the bath, washbasin and toilet.
This is a rural area 0.8 miles from the very extensive beach and 1 mile from the A1. Farm vehicles pass by very regularly through the day, and this can be late at night a couple of times in the year. Public transport is on the A1 and the nearest shops are in Tweedmouth which is 5 miles away. Unless you are keen walkers you will probably need your own transport or be prepared to use taxis.
  • Thank you Julia for the lovely stay. The place was spotless and extremely close to one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen 😍

  • This is a charming part of the world! Julia's cottage is a great jumping off point for hikers wishing to explore Holy Island as we did! Berwick is also lovely. The room was spotless and had facilities for making drinks, and we could store some food in the fridge. It was also excellent value.

    Richard2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Julia's place is an oasis of calm serenity about 15 minutes from Lindisfarne and Berwick (by car). The room is quite large and the double bed is new and very comfortable. Plenty of space for luggage and parking. Private bathroom - newly installed and very beautiful. The entire home is spotlessly clean. Pictures don't do this place justice. Julia is so warm and welcoming. I can't thank her enough for her hospitality and generosity. 5/5 is well deserved.

  • Such a lovely, cosy, little place to stay. The hut is clean and tidy and has everything you need to enjoy a few nights away from it all. We would’ve stayed longer if it was possible. Communication from Rob and Jutta was excellent. Location and parking were excellent. We will visit again.

    Jon2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • If you are visiting, stay here. It was absolutely perfect. Rob and Jutta are both so sweet and accommodating, and of course the dogs are adorable. The island is small anyway but this cabin is very well located, right next door to two of I think only three pubs on the island. I usually have very good experiences on Airbnb stays but this was exceptional.

    Angie2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Ideally situated in the back garden of Jutta and Robert's house, this place provided us with the peace and quiet we were looking for. The cabin is cosy and very well equipped for a small space. The kitchen area is ideal for self-catering requirements, and the bathroom is clean and warm.

  • Second stay at this excellent apartment, great town centre location, excellent facilities, an outstanding apartment, lacking for nothing. Definitely recommend.

  • A great apartment. Lots of space, and extremely clean. Location for venturing out for food and a few drinks in the evening is spot on, 2-3 minutes walk and you have a choice of a few restaurants and pubs. Very warm welcome from Rhona on the first night, to show us around the apartment, and advise of where we could go for food. If working around the area again, wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Discounts available on stays of 3+ nights during October to February. Simply click on CONTACT HOST below to enquire. Our lovely holiday home, Mary's Cottage, is set in the beautiful North Northumberland countryside just a few miles from the Scottish Borders. In a peaceful village it offers country walks from the door, and combines tranquility and style with warmth and comfort. The perfect romantic, rural retreat at any time of the year.
Our cosy, romantic cottage has been renovated and insulated to a high standard. We've used gentle Farrow & Ball colours, comfy sofas and bed plus beautiful pieces of art by local artists to create a lovely, relaxing environment. The cottage is our own holiday home and as we don't live locally we employ a housekeeper to clean and prepare for our guests. This means you can expect a high standard of cleanliness and professionally laundered bedding and towels. LIVING/DINING ROOM: Comfy sofas to snuggle on, a log burner with fuel supplied and a cosy corner for dining. There's a wide range of books and DVDs (including some about the history of the local area), Country Living and Dog Friendly magazines, games and colouring books with coloured pens/pencils for time spent relaxing indoors. KITCHEN: Well equipped and modern, the kitchen contains a large fridge-freezer, a wine fridge, dishwasher, single oven with induction hob* and a microwave. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, sweetener, herb teas and a basic range of herbs, spices and cooking oil are supplied. (*Please note that the British Heart Foundation recommends that people with a heart pacemaker should get no closer than 60cm to an induction hob). UTILITY ROOM: The utility room houses a washing machine (washing capsules supplied) and separate tumble dryer, iron and table-top ironing board plus room for coats, boots/shoes and doggy paraphernalia (bowls for food and water, poo bags, tick remover and shampoo). A fire blanket, fire extinguisher, basic first aid kit, insect repellent, sunscreen lotion and torches are also kept in here. BEDROOM: Comfortable double bed with Egyptian cotton bedding, plenty of hanging/drawer space for clothes and remote controlled bedside lights. SHOWER ROOM: Modern shower/wet room with underfloor heating and a heated towel rail. We provide fluffy towels and quality toiletries including shampoo and conditioner, body wash and body lotion. TECHNOLOGY: Free wi-fi. Television with DVD player and eclectic mix of DVDs. Chromecast: enables you to 'cast' your favourite TV shows, films, music, sport, games and more from your phone or other mobile devices straight to our TV. Hepburn radio which enables you to play music etc from your mobile/tablet via Bluetooth by simply downloading the View Quest app. OUTSIDE: At the back of the house is a sunny south-facing area for sitting out, with table and chairs provided. The stone bench outside the front door is the perfect spot to sit on a summer's evening with a glass of wine to watch the sun setting. The side/rear area is gated and secure for dogs. Guests have access to a lockable outbuilding enabling secure storage of fishing rods, bikes etc. We have left our own bikes and cycling helmets in the outbuilding and guests are welcome to use them AT THEIR OWN RISK. We've also left folding chairs, a windbreak and a coolbox for picnics and days out at Northumberland's coast. The house is situated on a quiet road just a short walk from the centre of the village of Branxton with its charming village hall, beautiful 12th century church, the 'smallest visitors' centre in the world' and a way-marked walking route around the historic Flodden battlefield. The village, with just 60 dwellings and no shops or pubs of its own, is surrounded by farmland making it wonderfully free from traffic noise and unusually peaceful, especially in the evening. FACILITIES FOR BABIES: A high chair is available upon request. DOGS: Two small or one medium sized well-behaved dogs are welcome but, for the sake of our other guests we'd appreciate it if you would try to keep them out of the bedroom and off the furniture. We provide dog towels, bowls, torches for late night wee-walks and a supply of emergency poo bags. There's also a handy outside tap for cleaning up boots and paws after muddy walks. Please mention if you are bringing your dog at the time of booking so we can leave them some treats. PARKING: Parking on the quiet road right outside the cottage is free and unlimited. The area behind the property is our neighbour's access route to/from his garage so must be left clear at all times.
The peaceful village of Branxton is perfectly positioned for exploring the Northumberland National park, walking in the Cheviot Hills, fishing on the Tweed, or visiting Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle and the Farnes. It is just a few miles from the border with Scotland and roughly equidistant from the lovely market town of Kelso with its Flemish-style square and coastal Berwick-upon-Tweed. The cottage is also a perfect base for trips to explore the wonderful cities of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Edinburgh as they are both just over an hour's drive away. The village itself is rich in history being adjacent to site of the Battle of Flodden, fought in 1513. The battlefield trail, with interpretation boards explaining the stages of the battle which led to the tragic death of James IV of Scotland, provides a fascinating walk around the area with beautiful views over the village and across the countryside. There are many other lovely walks to be taken direct from the cottage or just a short drive away and OS maps of the area are provided for guests' use. We also provide a selection of books and DVDs about the history of the area, the Battle of Flodden and the Border Reivers who raided the entire Border country along the Anglo-Scottish border from the late 13th century to the 17th century.

  • Fantastic in every way.

    Andy2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely outstanding place to stay. Location is fantastic for anyone looking for a nice quiet getaway. The local tips were fabulous and led to some great food and outings. The property itself was very comfortable and clean. It was as advertised and ideal for anyone looking for a getaway in the border region. Could not fault it at all. Lots of helpful information provided both via email and the welcome booklet, and all the amenities to enjoy a relaxing weekend.

  • WOW from the outside, Marys cottage seems small and unassuming but once you step inside, its a different kettle of fish, I wont give too much away but you wont be disappointed, Julie and Nigel are very responsive and they really do make sure you have everything you need

    Debbie2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent communication with Julie, Mary's Cottage is exactly as it looks in the photos, comfortable, clean, warm, homely but it is the attention to all the finer details that impressed us. From the folder which contains the necessary advice you get in rented accommodation but also includes instruction booklets on how to use the equipment at the property. So much tourist literature divided into areas to make it easier to decide where you would like to go, books and DVDs on the local history ( loved the DVD on the Border Reivers) as well as a large collection of DVDs, reading books and magazines to cover all tastes, games (loved the Scrabble cards) quality eco products to use, lovely pet friendly touches, basket of treats for us, the list is endless. You must go to see for yourself! Thank you Julie and Nigel

    Lorraine2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cottage with everything you need for a cozy time away, perfect size for a couple plus dog! Great quiet location but not too far from local amenities. Would have no hesitation in booking again or recommending to others!

    Andrew2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was a gem! Very cozy and extremely well equipped. Good communication with the owner was a bonus. Can recommend.

    Gareth2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage of dreams! Beautifully furnished and super cosy for Winter, we could have happily stayed indoors all week rather than exploring outside. The cottage is kitted out with everything you could possibly need for cooking/films/reading/dog walking, along with some welcome goodies for you (and/or the dog) too. Would definitely recommend & visit again.

  • A great location for exploring the area, notably Holy Island. Very clean and enjoyed a great nights sleep

  • Great for overnight stay while cycle touring. Very welcoming.

    Emma2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • A basic but very clean place with straight forward accommodation in bunk rooms. I did not get to sample the cafe but it looked very good. There is a pub nearby and a petrol station with a reasonable selection of food and drink. The Newcastle-Berwick bus stops across the road. The location is ideal for a visit to Lindisfarne, being about a 45 minute walk to the causeway.

    Ian2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Comfy space to chill out and what a breakfast at the cafe in the morning! Lovely hot shower and easy to find. Thanks for a great stay!

    Teddy2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • A nice hostel in a special location on the Northumberland coast. Near holy island. Beautiful walking and cycling in the area. Good English breakfast and great cappuccino. Just a pity that the bar / Restaurant closes so early. Shared bedrooms. Low price.

    Mike2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • It was new, modern, stylish, and although we didn't need the café, it looked great - both this and accommodation great for travellers!

  • We booked a 3-night stay via Airbnb during the Scottish school February break and had an amazing time. The cottage is just lovely, the hosts equally lovely (complimentary cake! plus loads more goodies and lots of tips and friendly service) and we can’t fault it. Thank you Harvest and Dave; we’d love to come back some day.

    Sheila2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Woodpecker Cottage. It was a perfect retreat for our country/coastal getaway. The log fire certainly provided a cosy end to a long walk in the cold January weather. The hospitality that we received from Harvest and Dave was exceptional; a warm welcome, friendly advice, and lemon cake in abundance!

    Thomas2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Were do I start! To put it bluntly woodpecker cottage is the best cottage I have every stayed in..... Hosts harvest and David run an incredibly slick operation offering modern extremely comfortable living in a remote and utterly beautiful setting. The cottage was spotlessly clean and everything worked impeccably well. Highlights were a wood burning stove, a delicious homemade cake on arrival, fresh baked bread, super comfy beds in bedrooms that were all big enough for 3 men north of 6ft tall, amazing views, the list is endless. I commend Harvest and David in what they do because they are excellent hosts and run a very professional, yet personal setup. This is an absolute gem and a must stay if exploring the beautiful Northumberland hills, castles and coasts. I will be returning soon! Thank you, Will

    Lindsay2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect get away for a long weekend! The cottage had everything we needed, and lots of extras that were helpful like guide books and maps. We enjoyed our stay enormously, and the cake and homemade bread! The wood burning stove and comfy sofas were perfect after a day of walking with the dogs.

  • Great hosts! Amazing spacious cottage. Definitely recommend

    Lucy2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Kingfisher Cottage is in a great location for exploring the north. Remote enough to enjoy the stars but with plenty to do within 30/40 mins drive. The Log burner makes the cottage cosy, generally a fantastic place to stay!

    Ruth2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, spacious cottage. Lovely goodies on arrival. Quite isolated, besides the other 3 cottages which are attached. Lots of local information provided, including maps and discount vouchers. All the kitchen basics provided, which was great. Only difficulty we had was not being able to let our dogs off lead in the garden as it was open to the other gardens.
