Places to stay in Norwich
This small but cosy annexe sleeps two people comfortably with an open plan living room including kitchenette with dining table and a relaxing living space with tv and WiFi. There is a small and elegant bedroom area with an ensuite bathroom as well as a fabulous established garden for al fresco dining. The owner lives adjacent to the property so there is always help on hand. However you will have complete privacy with your own entrance to the property. All set within a friendly 15c village.
New Buckenham is a 15c village set in the heart of mid Norfolk only 30mns away from the beautiful cathedral city of Norwich. It’s also only a 45mn drive to Norfolk’s varied and picturesque coastline. This small but cosy annexe sleeps two people comfortably with an open plan living area including kitchenette with dining table. There is a comfortable seating area with TV and WiFi. Adjacent to the living/dining room is a small and elegant sleeping space with a separate en suite bathroom/wet room. Outside there is a fabulous established private garden for enjoying evening drinks or al fresco dining. The owner lives adjacent to the property and will usually be there to welcome you and show you around. You will however have complete privacy with your own entrance to the property. A great place to spend some relaxing time out exploring the great county of Norfolk.
The friendly village has a number of amenities within a stones throw. There is a general shop/post office, and a wonderful coffee shop for those who enjoy relaxing over coffee and homemade cake or snacks. We also have two popular pub/restaurants with excellent menus to suit all tastes. There is a historic 14th century church open to visitors and we even have our own castle remains! If you climb to the top of the keep you will enjoy an amazing view of the surrounding countryside. We have a local zoo just a couple of miles away which is a great day out. There is of course not far away the Norfolk Broads where you can hire boats for the day.
  • This was a home from home. Very well set up for a relaxing stay. We arrived late afternoon on the 31 st Dec and Sally was there to go through a few of the basics. The local pubs/restaurants were very friendly and the food was very good quality. I would recommend The Cosy Annexe

  • Sally's place is perfect in every way. Close to pub, coffee shop, restaurant. Sally is a great host and I always look forwards to staying here.

  • We really loved staying here; it’s a gorgeous apartment and feels completely like a separate place, rather than an annex. Sally was a great host who gave us a warm welcome. The bed was really comfortable and cosy. There were lovely touches, such as a breakfast table laid out for us. It’s a 2 minute walk from a really good pub with good food. Neither of us could get any phone reception in most of New Buckenham, which didn’t bother us, but it’s worth knowing. There’s WiFi at the property which works well in the living room and kitchen - we were able to video call with no issues at all- good signal. All in all this is a lovely place to stay for a single person or couple and we’d definitely return.

Poet’s Corner is a cosy two bedroom period cottage full of charm and character, set in the quiet part of Kenninghall in Norfolk. The former home of poet and author Oliver Bernard, the cottage has been sensitively and lovingly renovated with many original features exposed. Whether you are looking for a romantic weekend getaway or a place from which to explore beautiful East Anglia, this cottage is right for you. We are dog-friendly and welcome one well-behaved pooch.
We fell in love with the cottage the first time we saw it and the renovations have been a true labour of love. We estimate the cottage to be originally built in the 16th Century with the upper floor and back added in the mid 17th Century. Guests have the whole house and garden to themselves, so the place is suitable for couples, friends, small families or those who are looking for a quiet place for their creative ventures. The ground floor comprises of open-plan living space with woodburner, a bathroom with shower and a compact kitchen through which you can access the enclosed private garden. A steep and narrow set of stairs leads up to the main bedroom with double bed, and behind it is the second bedroom, which can either have one or two beds depending on the size of your family. Please note that there are no doors on the upper floor and we would like dogs to stay downstairs during your stay.
Kenninghall is a beautiful historic village with a Heritage pub and village shop close by. Stroll into the community orchard and Millennium Woods or relax in the enclosed garden. You may even catch the annual soap box race! Kenninghall is near the Norfolk / Suffolk border and a little further afield you can explore the stunning North Norfolk Coast, Norwich, Bury St Edmunds and historic Lavenham.
  • Great Stay!

    Nathan2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage and ideal location in a lovely village. Two dog friendly pubs within easy reach , we preferred the food in the White Horse, but the old wooden snug in the nearby pub is incredible- a must see . Comfy furnishings and bedding , love the two separate duvets , used to have this in Germany, excellent if you have a larger restless sleeping partner ! Marie left thoughtful touches , apple juice, bread and some yummy treats for our dog!! The stairs are quite steep , prob not for arthritic knees or little ones ! Everything is beautifully and thoughtfully furnished and a house book full of useful and informative information. Highly recommended!

    Elena2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Magical. Inspiring. Everything about our stay at poet's corner was special. The interiors are impeccable, and our girls loved discovering woodland creatures hidden throughout the house. Marie's hospitality was exceptional. We cherished every moment and only wish we could have stayed longer!

Corona Virus: All surfaces, door nobs, switches, handles etc have been carefully disinfected for your safety. A 16c listed and part thatched cottage oozing character and history. Modern furnishings compliment revealed timbering, original beams and an inglenook fireplace with wood burner. In the heart of a friendly, quiet medieval village with 2 gastro pubs, coffee shop offering delicious homemade food and a general store closeby. Broads, seaside, walks, historic, cultural city & welcoming folk
The walls are full of original art and photography as well as quirky features around every corner. Painted in the traditional Norfolk colour pink, this is a listed building in a medieval conservation village full of historic features. The bedrooms have comfortable beds to accommodate up to 6 people as there is a spare bed that can be put up in the larger garden room ( that room would then accommodate 4 people in 1 room, a double and 2 singles). I have a cot bed for a baby. There's also a high chair, toys, books etc for children. For adults there are music and film dvd's, books and a barbecue in the garden. The owner has taken care to ensure that guests have every comfort during their stay. There are tv's in every bedroom and a large one in the living room as well as a dvd player and a music centre. The sun room provides a perfect private space to get away from it all and relax. Through the French Windows is a small veranda with seating and a herb garden. Beyond the veranda down a short but pretty pathway there is a sunny established garden where you can eat al fresco, barbecue, or just relax. The living room is colourful and cosy with a woodburning stove and comfortable contemporary seating. Behind an oak door there's a 'secret' stairway and on the back wall is the original bakers oven door. The bedrooms are individually designed to give a different feel to each space. The Poppy room with its deep red accents and Moroccan style lighting make this a warm and rich space to relax in. The Garden room is larger with a double and a single bed. This has more traditional English colouring in the furnishings with an original fireplace, a 'secret' staircase and a fabulous long window looking down onto the sun room and beyond. The bathroom has a walk in shower. If you need toiletries there’s lots in the cupboard on the landing you can use. If no one is coming after you I'm very happy for you to leave in the afternoon...maybe after lunch. Ask me if you're not sure or I'll let you know. Please be aware that the cottage is 16c therefore some areas like the landing have low ceilings. Mostly everywhere else is fine but if you’re tall you might need to be careful in a few areas in the cottage. You have sole use of the cottage. I live next door. I can now offer massage and therapy services who are happy to come to the cottage. There are 3 local therapists who offer different treatments. Contact them directly. The village is friendly and has an active community. It has its own castle ruins, a village green with a market cross building and a whipping post. There are wonderful walks all around the outskirts including the commons history can be traced back to the 12c. A number of orchids grow on the common as do huge and unusual fungi. It's also a great area for bird spotting. The village has 2 great gastro pubs (book ahead), a village general shop and a fantastic coffee shop selling home made sweets and savouries. I have a shop/stall on Norwich market at the top (nos 138/9) called 'The other Curator' selling quirky bohemian and vintage style fashion , jewellery and homeware. • Nice cosy cottage as described . Perfect to relax and unwind. Love the ambient lighting throughout

  • Gorgeous property in a nice village - perfect for the quiet few days away we needed. Loved the quirkiness of the layout and all the little details. There was everything we needed - the kitchen was particularly well equipped. We were able to cook at home easily. It was lovely sitting out having coffee on the little terrace and being able to walk the dog just around the corner. Caryn was a lovely and responsive host, with excellent sparkly shoes. Thanks for having us!

  • Thanks Caryn for another fabulous stay in your lovely cottage.

    Deborah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Quirky, old and homely. A very comfortable cottage with wood burning stove that was great in the evening while opening a bottle of something. Morning coffee in the ‘fairy room’ (as my daughter called it) was very tranquil. Thanks for a wonderful few days!

  • Caryn is a fantastic host, so helpful and accommodating. The cottage is beautiful and unique with lovely quirky touches. Well kept and clean. Great that you can bring your dog(s) as well.

  • Caryns place is very cosy and has pretty much everything one needs. We felt welcome and comfortable from the first minute and Caryn was helpful with what ever we needed. Highly recommend a stay at Caryns place

    Nicholas2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Caryn’s cottage was lovely. Caryn is really friendly and welcoming. The cottage is amazing and having the log burner is nice and cosy. The beds are comfy and the living room and sun room are gorgeous. The kitchen has everything you need! We ate at the local pub (very near to the cottage) and this was good too.

    Cat2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • You have to stay here! Amazing, unique place which will make your trip. Caryn adds so much to it as well by being a legend of a host !!!

The Treehouse Game and Stay isn't your usual self catering apartment. It has its own pool table and retro arcade machine exclusively for your use. Situated above our oak framed cartlodge in the grounds of our house on the edge of the 44 acre village green of Old Buckenham. The village has 2 pubs, shop and country walks. The Treehouse accommodates 2+2 and has a double bedroom, shower room and large open plan living area/games room with kitchenette and breakfast bar.
The Treehouse Game and Stay really is an apartment with a difference. Not only do you have a full size slate bed pub pool table, but 60 arcade games from the 70s and 80s in a genuine table top cabinet. There’s also a half size virtual pinball table with over 700 multiplayer tables, so you’ll be sure to find your old favourites and new games to play. Its all on freeplay of course. To continue the retro gaming theme, there's a SNES Mini - a remake of the old Super Nintendo with 270 games installed - so you can relive a misspent youth or show the kids what gaming used to be like. We want you to be entertained, so there is a 43" Smart TV with Netflix subscription, iPlayer etc, The TV is hooked up to a Sonos sound bar with Alexa and a full Spotify subscription. So just ask Alexa to play your favourite tracks. There is of course also a TV in the bedroom as well as little touches like USB sockets by the bed for your phones. The sleeping accommodation consists of a private double bedroom and a large sofa bed in the living area. Please note that the large windows in the end of the living area do not have blinds or curtains - but you are not overlooked. The Treehouse is self catering so we don't provide breakfast, but you will find all the crockery/glasses/pans etc that you need and a full size hob, kettle and toaster - please note there is NO OVEN OR MICROWAVE
We are situated on the edge of the largest village green in England, so great for a stroll over to one of the pubs or further afield on the surrounding public footpaths. There are 2 pubs within a 5 minute walk, a village shop and Old Buckenham Country Park on the edge of the village which also has 'Cafe Cadence', very popular with cyclists. If you are bringing bikes then you can lock them up in our open cart lodge. There are daily events hosted by the Ox & Plough, including poker nights, quiz nights, bands, the famous 'Two Wheel Tuesday' motorcycle meet and Feasty Friday when there is a free chilli on the bar to help yourself to. We are situated 15 miles from the beautiful cathedral city of Norwich, and 3 miles from the market town of Attleborough for local shops, restaurants and pubs. You'll also find New Buckenham only a 5 minute drive or a 40 minute walk across the footpaths - this also has 2 great pubs, a shop and fabulous little cafe.

The accommodation is a 2 bedroom first floor flat with kitchen, cosy living area, and bathroom. Sleeps 5, but can take 6. Excellent broadband. It was the hayloft above an old carriage house, with stables either side of a courtyard. Guests use our front door, with a private door off the hall leading to the accommodation. A peaceful setting in pretty village, with a pub, a short drive to Diss. We live on the ground floor. Large garden, good parking.
The entire first floor of our house. A door off the hall leads to the staircase. There is a spacious landing, off which are 2 bedrooms, an open plan kitchen/ living room area, and a bathroom with spa bath and shower. The living room area has a large HD TV, with freeview channels, sofa, and armchairs. There is a recently installed kitchen with cooker, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. with plenty of utensils, pots, pans and crockery/cutlery. Guests can also use our washing machine, tumble dryer, on request.
Gissing is a small village about 5 miles from the market town of Diss. There is no shop in Gissing, nor the immediate surrounding villages, but we have a lively traditional village pub ( a 5 minute stroll away) which serves typical pub food (booking is advisable) as well as real ales. In the next village, Burston, (2 miles) is a gastro pub, slightly more expensive, but the food is lovely. It also has a nice garden. Again, we would advise booking. There are various other good pubs in the surrounding villages. Diss has a variety of pubs, cafes and restaurants, and a selection of takeaways which will deliver. There is a folder in the living room with details and menus. The nearest shops/supermarkets are in Diss and Long Stratton, about 10 minutes away by car. Diss is famous for the Mere, a lake in the middle of the town with an adjacent park. There are numerous attractions further afield, from Snetterton motor racing track, Banham Zoo, Center Parcs, Newmarket, Southwold, Aldeburgh and the coast, the Norfolk Broads, and of course the historic cities of Norwich and Bury St Edmunds. It is an ideal area for walking and cycling.
  • We found the accommodation very homely, quiet and peaceful in the area. We would gladly like to come again for a relaxing break.

  • I just want to let you know that I needed accommodation for the month of January, and found David and Judith's place on Airbnb, which was close to my work. They were so welcoming and accommodating throughout my stay, in every way! I would recommend the Hayloft to anyone with no doubts that you will be back to stay! I hope to be back next year too! Stella

    Stella 2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • David and Judith's place was absolutely first class. We had access and our own privacy to the whole upstairs with kitchen and a very nice living room. We also had a choice of two bedrooms to stay in as well. There were board games available, homemade loaf of bread and many other kind touches that really made this place such a pleasure to stay at. My girlfriend and I cannot recommend this place highly enough! We'd give more stars if it was possible :)

    Rhys2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great hospitality from friendly, flexible hosts. We were delayed and arrived late in the evening but David kindly greeted us and showed us around. This is a great place for families and my kids enjoyed the imaginative decor in their rooms and nice touches throughout! If you have any reservations about this space being above David and Judith’s home you needn’t worry - once there you will not notice. This is a nice place in a quiet location - we would happily stay there again.

    Jason2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little family space with great facilities. David and Judith have a lovely, friendly cat and dog which our two year old loved. We arrived to find milk, bread, butter, jam, cereal and Homemade cakes which was very much appreciated - especially due to the remote location. We would definitely stay here again. X

  • It was such a unique experience staying in Theresa's place - the barn is beautifully converted and is spacious and stylish. We had such a friendly welcome from our hosts and enjoyed meeting them and hearing about La Shed. It was beautifully quiet!

  • This place is amazing quiet and out in the remote area. Nice place and good relaxing area. Good value for money Note 2 things ...This is the host work area and so will have her things to collect rarely Also NO DOOR between toilet and bedroom which can be a bit off putting for some .It does smell when people take a dump so its difficult to sleep in bedroom with the smell ! I can see from other reviews that other people didn't mind ! I do Good host and nice place to stay otherwise!

    Rabbi2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Theresa and Syl are perfect hosts who put you at ease instantly and offer a warm welcome without being too intrusive. La Shed is a different, but relaxing place to stay, a lovely peaceful retreat.

  • We had a brilliant weekend at Deborah's house. I am not sure I would take toddlers there but for a party of 3 couples it was perfect with all the objet d'art adding to the charm of the property. Thoughtful touches for when we arrived and a pantry with various items available to use are very generous and welcoming. The village has a pub and lovely restaurant. Plus shop and tea room. So no need to leave the village once settled. Deborah was also the perfect host who answered any questions I had extremely efficiently. Highly recommended.

  • We had a wonderful few days away in New Buckenham. The house is spacious and had everything we could want. Really thoughtful added touches to welcome us and the village is gorgeous. Our children loved the playground nearby, local village shop, fantastic tea room and the village's castle! Deborah replied to all my questions really quickly and was very helpful. An excellent place to stay with the family. Thank you for having us.

  • What an absolutely beautiful house and location. We all fell in love with this wonderful place and didn’t want to leave! Everything you could possibly need is there and it feels so clean and homely. New Buckenham itself is delightful and we enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. Thank you for a truly fabulous weekend.

  • A really beautiful home, full of character and charm. Very spacious and Deborah left lots of thoughtful touches, particularly for our young children. A wonderful house for a family get together and Deborah was a fantastic host. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for a lovely stay!

  • Brilliant weekend staying at Deborah's place. Lovely house kitted out with everything needed - lots of thoughtful extras. Great location - definitely visit the kings arms for a pint, game of pool and food - Sunday lunch was delicious. If you want to eat in either pub or gastro pub is worth booking ahead as Inn on the green was fully booked for the Saturday night. The castle expedition was worthwhile and the locals are so friendly. Deborah was quick to respond to communication and really helpful. Definitely plan to return.

Welcome to our 'Boatshed', an oak framed annex in the garden of our cottage, looking over fields at the front and onto the garden at the rear. We are tucked away down a quiet no-through road in the heart of the village.
You will have a large bedroom with a king size bed and beautiful bedlinen. The large , oak windows look out onto the fields, with horses grazing in the summer. There is also a sofa and TV, and your own 'wet room' shower next door. Downstairs is a lovely private space for breakfast, or just to relax. There is a simple trolley with kettle, toaster and fridge. Milk, bread, fruit, yoghurt, granola, muesli, butter, homemade jam and marmalade are provided, along with coffee and teas, and a little something sweet. Help yourself to breakfast , and I will pop in and take away the washing up. (Please let me know when you book if you have any special dietary requirements or allergies. All the bedding is down)

  • The boat shed was amazing. Lydia has thought of everything and gone that extra mile. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. It was spotlessly clean and the attention to detail is wonderful. Everything is five star and luxurious. Small tip: If you want to eat out I would suggest you book in advance as the local restaurants get fully booked. We had dinner at The mulberry tree. Highly recommend.

Set in the tranquil Norfolk countryside, The Pump Room is open plan, designed to maximise natural lighting. On those summer days when it's warm enough, you can use our outdoor heated pool, along with the BBQ and gardens.
The Pump Room is open plan, designed to maximise natural lighting and, with bi-fold doors and French windows, we can guarantee plenty of it, even on a cloudy day. The kitchen is well equipped, the lounge area has a 37" wide screen tv and dvd player. The sleeping area has a king size bed and all the bedding is 100% Egyptian cotton. The bathroom is fitted with a power shower and cotton towels are supplied. On those summer days when it's warm enough, you have private and exclusive use of our outside heated pool, along with the gas BBQ. Stacksford is a very small hamlet in a beautiful wooded area with fabulous walks and bike rides. We can lend you maps, wellies, bikes and Bertie the Beagle if you fancy some four-legged company.
  • Beautiful, tranquil and exceptionally clean, whilst on the grounds of the main residence totally privacy is assured. Grounds are beautiful and the pump house exceeded my expectations. The Pump house has a high end and thoughtful finish and the bed is pure luxury. Alison and Miah are great hosts and very responsive. It is remote however the village is a short drive although i chose to cook for myself and the kitchen is fully equipped to do so. When using the satnav to get there do not put the postcode as it will take you 15 mins from the actual place, instead put in the name of the place and village when it is sent after booking and it will take you straight to the door!!!! Can't wait to come back xx

  • Fantastic apartment. Everything we needed was there for us. Perfect hosts!! Highly recommend staying here. Total peace and quiet.

  • If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway in stunning surroundings, The Pump Room is it. We were (oh so) fortunate enough to experience the scorching end of August sun which did mean we maximised use of the pool and outside area. Heavenly. The accommodation is beautiful and stylish with french doors by the bed that allow for the easiest and most stunning viewing of sunrise. Everything you need is provided - plenty of towels, a hairdryer, reading material, fresh bedding and tea and coffee essentials. We also made use of the coffee machine and DAB radio. Alison is an experienced host and - when we notified her we were stuck in slow-moving traffic in 30 degree heat - uncovered the pool and left two beers in the fridge for our arrival. We didn’t need anything else but I have no doubt that she would have assisted with anything. We hope to visit again, thank you.

    Charlotte2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • From the friendly welcome, the local knowledge and recommendations- to the beautiful pool and accommodation, everything was perfect for our short stay away🥰

  • Set in a beautiful location, blissfully quiet and oh so comfortable. Lots of personal touches to make it feel like a home from home. Spotlessly clean, comfortable and very private. Well worth taking the bikes to the Ox & Plough, especially on a Friday as there’s free chilli and curry. All In all we didn’t want to come home and can’t wait to return x

  • Hassle free booking and communication and pre-arrival information was great. We had no problem finding the place. Alison greeted us upon arrival and showed us around this beautiful property. We instantly felt at home. We couldn’t get enough of the excellent swimming pool which we had exclusive use of. This was a huge draw for us and we were not disappointed. The outside patio area is a fantastic space for relaxing on the sun loungers and table and chairs and use the BBQ. The Pump House has everything you could need - well equipped kitchen including fridge/freezer, oven, coffee machine etc, a lovely comfortable bed with high quality bedding, a great shower room and it is all spotlessly clean! The furniture and decor is stylishly done and there is so much natural light. Alison was on hand if we needed her but very much leaves you in privacy to enjoy your holiday and come and go as you please. We have had a fantastic time and we wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this property to others and returning ourselves :)

  • The cabin was amazing! The place was clean, bigger than we’d expected and in a lovely location by a lake. Kim was a great host, left us milk, tea, coffee etc and put the heating on prior to us arriving to ensure we had a lovely weekend. The cabin included cooking facilities which allowed us to cook a nice evening meal and watch the sun go down. Only downside is that we hadn’t brought our dog with us, as it seemed a great place to take her for a walk. Thankyou Kim for a lovely evening.

  • What an amazing location especially if you're taking a dog with you! The cabin I stayed in was such a perfect space the only negative is I didn't get long enough there.

The cabin is stunning, it was warm, had milk ready, the beds were very comfy, the shower was lovely, very pet friendly as we were able to walk them around the fields, We will be back again soon x

  • We really enjoyed our short stay at this cabin. It’s a lovely space in a truly idyllic and peaceful spot with a lovely view over the country park. We woke up to the sound of farm animals, which the kids loved. Apple space for a large family with separate dining and lounge areas as well as 2 showers. It was easy to find and get access and Kim couldn’t have done more for us as a host. We’d love to return with my husband in the future. Thank you so much.

Our railway carriage has been sympathetically restored using reclaimed materials & beautiful interiors.
Inside the main carriage you will find a double bed dressed with a feather duvet, linen sheets & plenty of under bed storage, 2 mid century armchairs & a wood burner. Double doors that open out on to your own private deck with seating & an outdoor wood burner. Through the reclaimed railway door you will find a hand built fully equipped kitchen, inc a oven. With a mix of modern & rustic interiors & a cafe style seating area. You will also find a little toilet | shower room with heated towel rail & towels included. The main carriage & kitchen area have reclaimed cast iron radiators, in addition to the wood burner.
Situated in a picturesque area called Breckland in South Norfolk, SETTLE is located one of the driest terrains in the UK. Our skies are often blue. Nearby Thetford Forest and Kings Forest, offer the largest lowland forest in the country and have miles of tranquil trackways and paths to explore. Breckland is also a Special Protection Area (SPA) under the European Union Directive on the Conservation of Wild Birds and one of the few areas in England where the rare and shy golden pheasant may be seen in the wild. Here at SETTLE we receive regular visits from passing muntjac, roe deer and hares. Our lakes welcome a returning pair of swans each winter, as well as Canadian Geese in the spring - this year we spotted two content families. Other regular visitors include herons, waterhens, kingfishers and many songbirds. The lakes are also home to carp, roach & tench.
  • Cosy retreat, away from the norm. definitely recommend.

    Will2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect little retreat. The fragrance of the wood burner, the attention to detail throughout and the views of a wintery morning over the lake whilst cosy inside will result in you never wanting to leave. The fact there is no TV or WiFi is one of my favourite aspects of this place. It removes you from distraction and you really do pay attention to the sounds and sights of nature around you. The kitchen has everything you may need, the bed is incredibly comfortable and there is ample space to fully relax and rest. I live locally to Shropham yet this is a little slice of Norfolk I will endeavour to retreat to many times in the future.

    Hanna2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had the most amazing couple of days at the carriage. Everything was clearly made so beautifully and the interior design was gorgeous. The storm meant we couldn't see the surrounding area too much, but we enjoyed being cosy by the fire and making copious amounts of lovely toast from the bread provided. Was so sad to leave, would love to come again!

  • We had a wonderfully relaxing long weekend at Carriage No.2. The accommodation was really well thought out with so many lovely touches. It was a delight to spend time cocooned with the roaring fire and sounds of the surrounding natural setting. Such a peaceful and private place. We would love to return.

    Joanna2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The place is amazing. If you want to spend some quiet days and rest, it’s perfect.

    Stefanie2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • I booked the carriage to stay for a few nights at the beginning of January for my boyfriend's birthday. It was the perfect place to relax after a busy festive season. The carriage is incredibly cosy (even in January) and beautifully designed and decorated. It definitely lived up to our expectations. As we really didn't want to leave the peaceful setting we stayed in for most of the weekend but Jo was on hand when we needed recommendations in the surrounding area or general assistance. The park is peaceful and it was lovely to see the resident swans in the lake. We really hope we can come back soon!

    Angelica2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Carriage number 2. The carriage was very cosy and clean with lots of great touches. The surroundings were very peaceful and we will definitely return for another stay in the future.

  • Settle is absolute heaven! I had been following their page on Instagram for a while and was so excited to book a stay and it did not disappoint. Everything is so thoughtfully curated and the design of the cabin is perfection. You really feel like you are in the middle of nowhere and it is the ultimate ‘get away from it all’ escape. I could have spent a whole week snuggled up in the cabin with the fire roaring. I also love that you dont need to interact with anyone at all if you don’t want to but someone is always on hand if you need them (the heating wasn’t working one evening and Jo sent out her whole force to come and help us- including her husband who showed us how to properly light the fire without fire starters!) all in all, I would 100% recommend this place to everyone!

Green Dragon Cottage is set in a quiet backroad just North of Diss (10 minutes), sitting at the gateway to the picturesque Waveney Valley. The cottage sleeps up to five guests and is created from former stables and blacksmiths forge. The conversion retains many historic features including wooden beams and pamment tiles, yet with modern amenities including WiFi and underfloor heated bathroom. The cottage has a private entrance and parking and is ideal for families, sat in our peaceful 3 acres.
The cottage has its own private and secure off street parking, a child friendly outside space with seating and an outdoor BBQ. A private entrance leads directly to the modern fully fitted kitchen with a hob and oven available for your use and all the crockery, cutlery and cooking vessels required for your stay. A welcome basket with essentials (tea and coffee, milk, sugar, bread, butter, local eggs, local honey or jam) along with a basket of firewood will be laid out to greet you. Internet access is available within the property. Feel free to look around the other fields and pick our apples or pears, we always have too many! The best blackberries can be found next to the woodshed. If you have dogs please keep them on a lead outside the cottage fencing and off the furniture inside.
Green Dragon Cottage is located in a peaceful backwater with an abundance of wildlife on its doorstep (deer, hares, rabbits, foxes, birds, etc). Although rural it is by no means isolated with the quaint town of Diss only three miles to the south which has a Friday market, 13th Century church, and wealth of local shops and boutiques. Discovering the secret alleyways off the main road filled with unique shops and cafes is a real delight, as is Bressingham Steam Museum and Gardens.
  • Tony’s place was exactly what my wife and I were looking for. We wanted to get out of the city and have a place out in the countryside and Tony’s place was excellent. We loved the wood burner in the living room as we read in the mornings. Plenty of walking trails and small towns with pubs nearby. Tony greeted us with a basket of breakfast supplies and showed us around the house and farm. It was a really great stay!

  • A perfect Christmas! We couldn’t have asked for anything better than this. Really clean, great gift basket, friendly, comfortable and beautiful. Highly recommend!

  • The Borrowers at Banham had such a lot of wonderful reviews that although we only needed a place to rest our heads for the weekend we thought that we'd treat ourselves. I am so glad that we did. Before we even left home Dalene was making us feel welcome asking about any dietary requirements we have for the very thoughtful and unexpectedly varied welcome pack. Similarly there wasn't any issue with bringing our dogs and we were assured that any forgotten items - either human or canine - would be catered for. On arrival Alex and Dalene were very welcoming and pointed out where we could find everything. If we needed anything further from them then we were assured that we could ask at any time. We didn't for a thing - believe me, if you can think of it then it was already provided. The cottage itself has all the mod-cons and has been presented to a high standard. Our one and only complaint was that we weren't there long enough!

    Ian2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We booked at the last minute the day before and assumed that it may not happen due to it being so last minute however this was not the case. Darlene and Alex gave us the warmest and magical welcome. No need to worry about breakfast the next day either as ALL the provisions were there, eggs laid by their chickens and bread baked by them as well. Everything you could have needed were there as well. They love animals as much as we do so bringing our scruffy puppy along was no trouble so we could really enjoy the weekend together A stunning well kept cottage on lovey grounds to explore. Thank you for a wonderful weekend

  • A fantastic home from home - Dalene had thought of everything! From a sumptuous welcome pack, off road parking, access to wonderful gardens and everything you might need for a fabulous weekend. The cottage is huge and absolutely immaculate with lovely homely touches. Would absolutely recommend and will definitely be back - thanks for a lovely stay!

  • The cottage is absolutely lovely and probably the most well equipped I have seen. The garden is beautiful and so well thought out. We enjoyed sitting in it even in February. To top it all Dalene is a fantastic, friendly, host. We stayed for our silver wedding anniversary and her thoughtfulness made it even more special.

    Ruth2019-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful little cottage with every amenity you can think of! We were particularly impressed by the lovely welcome basket, but the extra touches like having turned all of the heating on for us before we arrived on a very cold evening were also much appreciated. We found Dalene very welcoming and easy to get in touch with. Highly recommended!

    Sophie2019-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely place to stay! The welcome pack was lovely! Bed very comfortable! We’d definitely stay again! :)

    Sophie2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Dalene and Alex are both superb hosts that greeted us warmly and showed us round the accommodation. They truly provided us with everything we could possibly need for our stay! The accommodation is well equipped and it was spotlessly clean and of course the use of the garden and the bbq hut is a real added bonus! The welcome pack was great and very much appreciated especially the tasty eggs and bacon. Local shop is easily accessible by car(about a mile). Dalene and Alex were also able to recommend places to eat and there is a detailed folder of information is provided about places to visit. The accommodation was very cosy, you certainly won’t be cold. Would highly recommend The Borrower’s to fellow Air BnBers!

Weekend stays only and shoes off please! An additional bedroom can be negotiated, as can home-cooked meals.
In the middle of nowhere - perfect for dark nights, Norfolk skies and getting away from it all. Two miles to the pub or Chinese takeaway!
  • Beautiful quiet location with very friendly hosts. Continental breakfast was a feast!

  • We arrived late at night so couldn't take in the surroundings but it is in a very tranquil spot in the countryside. The house is huge and very secure and we had our own wing of the house as the owners daughter was away. The bedroom was clean and spacious and very quiet. The bathroom is very modern and immaculately clean with a lovely shower. The host also left us a continental breakfast with lots of variety and tea/ coffee / hot choc. All in all a great stay and we would recommended.

A traditional Norfolk Barn 13 miles south of Norwich. A peaceful setting in a semi-rural village. Nr. historic town of Wymondham. 30 mins to Norwich city with great shopping. Easy access to Broads & Norfolk/Suffolk coast. Share of patio, BBQ & garden. Sleeps 4 adults comfortably.
This barn is behind our house separated by the patio and garden which are shared. You have private parking and your private entrance to the barn. The kitchen is new and has all modern appliances (dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer). The bathroom is downstairs. It's narrow, but functional with basin, toilet and shower. (Those over 6ft may have to bend a little in the shower!) There is a dining area in the kitchen and another table with chairs in the living room. The living room has a TV with all freeview channels, a video and music system. We also have a selection of games, music, DVDs and books for you to enjoy. Also a few toys and games for young children. Note that WiFi is only accessible in the kitchen. The downstairs bedroom is semi-private (which means that the stud wall does not go all the way up to the vaulted ceiling). A curtain in the living room separates the bedroom. It has a double bed (with electric blanket), leather bucket chair, sidetables and large pine wardrobe. There is an upstairs bedroom with a double bed (and electric blanket). If extra beds are required there is an extra charge of £10/night for the futon in the living room and £5/night for a single fold-up bed. We have lots of seating in the patio area and you can have use of a gas BBQ. There is a large garden at the back of the barn, ideal for children to play and run around. I also have a high-chair, baby bath and travel cot to accommodate really young ones. Bunwell is a large village with a well-stocked general store that sells papers and alcohol, as well as food. Bunwell is surrounded by fields and country lanes, so if you are looking for peace, you will have it here. We live within a couple of miles of a good gourmet pub and also a Chinese takeaway in the next village. For more choice you can get takeaways and restaurants in Wymondham and Attleborough, approx 4 miles away, that have all the usual amenities of local towns. All towels and bedding are provided.
Bunwell is surrounded by countryside, yet it also has the key amenities that you require in a village; general store, post office and butcher, with two pubs within a couple of miles. Our local towns of Wymondham (4miles) and Attleborough (3 miles) have all the usual amenities; banks, shops, supermarkets, libraries etc. We are 25 minutes from the centre of Norwich which hosts numerous things to do and see; great shopping, as well as the Norwich Cathedral and Norwich Castle. The coast north of Great Yarmouth is very scenic and accessible within an hour. Likewise, you can get to the Norfolk Broads within an hour. Snetterton circuit is only 15 minutes drive away.

  • Really nice place, good sized and very private

    Matt2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful spacious barn conversion in a peaceful village just south of Norwich. Jane was very helpful and quick to respond, but also respected our privacy during our stay. The kitchen of the barn is well appointed and I had no trouble cooking a roast dinner. We had a lovely weekend staying at the barn over Easter (the glorious weather helped) and I would happily stay there again. The three of us were all sad to leave.

    Toby2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • My family were in the midst of relocating from Hong Kong to Wales and we needed a place to stay in Norfolk for 6 weeks... Jane's place was an obvious choice, with a good location close to Norwich and a great price for a long term rental. Jane's communication was clear right from the start and she furnished us with detailed instructions about her location and how to 'self check in'. She was flexible and accommodating when a family member arrived early to set up a cot for us and bring some food shopping. We were initially concerned about privacy as the "Chicken Shed" is literally in Jane's back courtyard, this was not worth worrying about! As others have reviewed, it was in fact very private and we hardly ever saw Jane or any of her family. Our only regular guests were the two chickens! We were fully informed about the 'open' bedroom off the living room and absolutely agree that for a sympathetic conversion of the barn, it would have been criminal to box the whole room off. The roof and beams of the barn gave a lovely airy, spacious feel to the living room. We were a little surprised about the upstairs bedroom, which would be better described as a 'mezzanine' level, as there is no door in between the bedroom and kitchen stairs. We traveled with a baby and toddler, consequently when they both napped, there was no space in the house for us to sit without disturbing one of the children. It wasn't as much of a problem as we first though it was going to be, worth a mention though... The place was lovely, much nicer than the photos, such character! The barn is kitted out with everything you need for your stay. All quality fittings and fixtures, no expense spared. We were there for a long stay and there was literally everything we needed. Jane was always on hand and was very quick to solve problems if they arose. The washing machine stopped working and she sorted out a new one! Jane gives 5 star service and makes this place great value for money. Wifi was available in the kitchen, which was needed as phone signal is patchy in this part of the world. Our little boy LOVED running around the safe and enclosed HUGE garden and we loved our country walks around the surrounding footpaths... I wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend 'The Chicken Shed' to others, you won't be disappointed.

Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence Awarded in 2017, 2018 & 2019, 4* Gold rated by Visit England since opening in 2014: Set in working farmland. Stunning two bedroom cottage with dedicated child play area set in 1 acre of landscaped garden. Very child and pet friendly. We are close to the famous Banham Zoo, the Snetterton circuit & Thetford Forest and other great attractions. 40-50 minutes to nearest beaches at Southwold or Aldeburgh. Perfect for families and groups of friends.
Arrive as strangers, leave as friends! Welcome to Spring here at Olde Farm Holiday Cottages the days are getting longer and the gardens have woken up and are now teeming with colour and life now that the tulips, daffodils and other Spring flowers and plants have made their appearance. The birds are around singing, building their nests and digging for insects, the robin still visits each morning waiting on the picnic table for his breakfast and the owls hunt at night and are quite magnificent. The days are also getting warmer in the bursts of Spring sunshine and the star filled night skies are just breathtaking. Our hens, the runner ducks, swans and moorhens wander freely exploring the gardens and have now started to lay again – which means shortly we should be welcoming ducklings and chicks! There is a seasonal welcome starter basket just waiting for you full of home made bread, scones, pate, jam and marmalade, local ham bacon and cheese, juice, mineral water, together with an extensive selection of teas and coffees - not to forget the flowers, Prosecco and chocolates! The fresh eggs are from our own small flock of hens and there are apples, pears, strawberries, plums and cherries to pick in season. We are also more than happy to adapt our welcome basket to fit your dietary requirements so if you want vegetarian, vegan, peanut/diary/gluten free then just let us know. If you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion then please tell us and we can go that extra mile for you! If you want to arrange an extra special treat for someone on arrival then again just let us know and we can work together to make your celebration even more memorable. Set amongst working farmland and pasture our cottages form part of a barn conversion and its outbuildings which were built around 150 years ago for the farmhouse and still working farm next door - so particularly at harvest there are times when you will hear and see tractors and other farm vehicles coming and going about their business. Where we are is very 'real' rural Norfolk but it is also beautiful and uplifting and the lack of street lighting means the huge star filled skies are mesmerising - wrap up warm, sit outside in the evenings and just drink it all in. If you are looking for high levels of quality in comfortably furnished and well equipped cottages with WIFI, Smart and Sky TV/DVD/video, Bose sound system, ceramic hob, granite worktops, combination microwave, full sized electric oven, fridge, freezer, coffee maker, food mixer, blenders and laundry facilities then we feel sure they will easily meet your requirements. The cottage is deal for couples and families and has the facility to be linked to the main house offering accommodation for much larger groups. We also welcome pets. There are books, games and DVDs together with a large toybox to keep the little ones (or the adults) amused in the evenings or on rainy days. Our prices are the same all year round, with no increases for the Summer, Christmas, New Year, Easter or half term breaks. We offer total flexibility and your short break can start on any day of the week with the only stipulation that you book for a minimum of two nights (three in August and at Christmas and Easter). All guests receive an extensive welcome pack of food and non-food, including local and home made produce. Treats/toys/ bowls/blankets for your pets are also included as standard. Artists - Olde Farm Cottages have a wonderful large pond ideal for artists to capture nature at its best. There are plenty of places to set up your easel by the water to capture wildlife, seasonal flowers, the old boat and mother nature itself. Meditation - Whether it is making the most of the peaceful pond setting or using the gazebo or large lawns, there is plenty of scope to carry out meditation, aerobics, yoga or other forms of relaxation.
We love the setting, the wildlife, the huge skys and the tranquility that living in our little bit of Norfolk Paradise affords us, yet we are close enough to major towns and the beautiful Norfolk Broads to make your holiday as active or tranquil as you wish. We are about a mile from the nearest shops and pubs - so close enough to walk should you seek the exercise - we can even lend you a dog to walk with you if you like:) The Inn on the Green in the next village, New Buckenham does amazing food as does The Garden House here in Banham - both are within easy walking distance - just make sure you arrive hungry as the portion are substantial as well as excellent quality.
  • This place was just wonderful, the thought, care and attention from the host was brilliant. The cottage is ideally located with loads to do, the food provided was lovely, really great for children to stay, we loved this place and can certainly see us staying again.

  • This is without a doubt the best self-catering accommodation we have ever stayed in. The hosts are lovely and welcoming and have created the perfect place. The cottage has everything, and I mean everything you could need. The pantry is well stocked, the kitchen is well equipped, including coffee machine and pods! The furniture is comfortable and the beds have lovely bedding. It’s a comfortable, inviting and homely place and we can’t wait to go back.

    Stuart2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot rate Bees Knees highly enough. If I could have given more stars I would have done. We have 2 very small children so travelling can be challenging but from the moment we arrived Dalene and Alex made everything incredibly easy and comfortable for us. The place itself is lovely, finished to a beautiful standard and has every mod con you can think of. We had an amazing welcome pack which not only contained all the basics (milk, coffee, tea etc..) but also Dalene had made scones and fresh bread with homemade jams and the fridge was stocked with wonderful local produce of ham, cheese and bacon. We were blown away by how welcome they made us. The grounds are also incredible - a huge space split up into lovely lawns and seating areas (which would have been perfect for sundowners had the weather been warmer), a beautiful duck pond and a great children’s playground with climbing frame and Wendy house that my 3 y/o son loved. Start to finish it was a perfect stay...if all Airbnb’s were like this we wouldn’t ever stop travelling!

    Nicola2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage and facilities were even better than I expected. Little touches such as Alexa, an honesty cupboard, little jams and a great surround system were all home from home luxuries. The range of outdoor seating was fantastic, plenty of options including a well loved hammock and bbq area. The hosts were really friendly and it was nice to know they were nearby, should we have needed anything. We had a lovely week and would love to return one day. Thank you.

    Clare2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a truly lovely stay at The Bees Knees. The cottage and gardens are gorgeous and Dalene and Alex had definitely anticipated our every need. Everything you could possibly need is available in a cupboard somewhere! The welcome pack, complete with freshly baked goods, kept us well spoilt throughout the week. Lots to explore in the vicinity, and a relaxing base to retreat to. What more could you ask for? We highly recommend The Bees Knees for a family getaway. Thanks again.

  • An amazing stay! Everything you need here for babies & toddlers, an amazing playground, toys, animals, beautiful grounds, definitely the best air BnB we've ever stayed in. Immaculately clean and tidy, everything beautifully laid out with a very sweet food package. We loved our stay here and hope to return soon.

  • An absolutely fantastic place. I really cannot recommend highly enough, especially if you have young children. We stayed for a long weekend with our 15 month old son, and all had a brilliant time. Dalene & Alex were the perfect hosts. They really do think of everything, and made the effort to ensure we comfortable without ever being intrusive. The cottage and grounds were incredible - duck pond (with duck food supplied - our son would have happily sat and fed the ducks all weekend!) hens, play area with all sorts for the kids to enjoy, and loads of space. You really needn't worry about boredom setting in! The location is also fantastic. Banham Zoo and Bressingham Steam Railway are nearby and well worth a visit, and there is plenty more to do. We'll definitely be back.

  • The perfect short break cottage. Beautifully done with everything you need along with some delicious home made treats, food and drink. Dalene and Alex are exceptional hosts. The gardens and children’s play area are just beautiful. We will certainly return.
