Scenic Lookout
“BEAUTIFUL place to hike and view the scenic beach area. Short, easy hike to a viewing area that can be very windy depending on the day. Great place to stop if you're in the area, parking can be a bit tricky if it's busy. I've only been in the off season so not sure what it's like in the summer. ”

“Not really Scottish anymore, just a wonderful take-out eatery and bakery on State Road in Vineyard Haven. Not really walkable from the cottage (4 miles away), but is on the bus route. Gluten free and veggie options abound. Meals are made to order. Use the app on their website (scottishbakehousemv.com) to order ahead. They'll give you a pick-up time so you won't have to stand around and wait. They have picnic tables on the lawn if you only want to take out so far.”

Entertainment
“From their website: World-class musicians, mind-blowing art, provocative walks, unforgettable walks. Highfield Hall & Gardens is not your typical historic estate. While there's plenty of history within these glorious old walls, Highfield is a vibrant cultural center surrounded by restored gardens, peaceful walking trails and conservation land. The story of this property is a dramatic one as it was, literally, saved from the wrecking ball in 1994 and lovingly restored, opening as a museum and historic site in late 2006. It is open to the public April 15 through October 31: Tuesday--Friday, 10 AM - 4 PM Saturday 10 AM - 2 PM Sunday 12 PM - 4 PM Closed on Monday except holidays. Members: Free Adults: $8 Seniors (65+): $5 Children under 12 and Active Military: Free North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) members: Free highfieldhallandgardens.org ”

Seafood Restaurant
“This is one of my favorite restaurants to enjoy on an early weekend morning. Fresh homemade muffins with a view over a marsh to Buzzards Bay. This is about a 30 minute drive max from the cottage and next to Horseneck Beach; my favorite beach if you walk way down to the quiet ends. This restaurant also serves amazing food for both lunch and dinner. My favorite though is sitting outside on hot summer days. ”
