“This magical island in Cabuya is accessible by foot during low tide. It’s a beautiful and mystical place that also serves as the towns cemetary. Check out the hours for low tide in the Nicoya Zoom brochure. You have a time window of about two hours around low tide to visit the island, which is plenty of time.”

“Rio Lajas close to Cabuya is the river with the biggest pools in the area. This river is about 4.5 miles from Montezuma crossing a bigger steel bridge. Its size and the big trees surrounding it are the hosts of a quite variety of birds, who come to nest and sleep there. In the morning between 6 and 8am and in evening around 5 and 6pm a lot of birds could be seen.”

Food
“If you are in Cabuya and like craft beer, make sure to check out this cool place. They have several beers on tap and serve homemade tapas. If you want to buy gifts for friends back home, get one of their unique beer soaps and shampoo bars. They are 100% natural and are made from coconut oil and essential oils. I make them myself, so this is a little self-advertising :)”
