  • My boyfriend and I had a lovely night away in the Juniper Pod. Perfect quiet location with your own fireplace and cooking stove on the patio. The use of the hottub was also a great add on which I would recommend. Great for a romantic weekend away!

    Erica2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel and Victoria’s place was brilliant, the pod is located in a lovely garden far enough away from the other pods that you would think you were there alone. The hot tub was a lovely addition and David was an excellent host with quick replies and great tips for local walks and restaurants! Overall I would really recommend.

  • Beautiful setting, close enough to Plymouth if you want the city but also off the beaten track for total serenity and peace. Everything you need is there.

  • The most perfect night away for my one year anniversary with my boyfriend. From fire wood to fairy light lit hot tub at 8pm under the stars. A dreamy location which was perfect for a getaway and romantic night away. Both hosts were easy to contact, helpful (when we got lost in particular) and ever so friendly. We had a lovely tour around the venue before being dropped off to our beautiful pod. Little touches made it extra special. I would highly recommend a stay as it was just perfect and just what we needed. No TV or technology distraction just nature and serenity. Stunning! We already can’t wait to get back. Thanks again! ❤️

  • We had an amazing time staying in the ‘Juniper cozy pod’ enjoyed having a fire each night then sleeping with the electric blanket. Kept us warm and able to do this kind of stay in January. Very quiet, beautiful garden and surroundings and great hosts to stay with. We both felt very comfortable staying at your accommodation. Thank you!!

Covid -19 I will open the Count House again as soon as I get the go ahead. All is very beautiful here at the moment. There is so much apple blossom and the bird song is wonderful. Sorry to not be able to share it with you yet. The Count House was once a Mine office, now it is a light filled holiday cottage. Set on a wooded hillside with stunning views over the River Tamar. The private garden steeps you in nature with deer, swallows and brimstones all regular visitors.
  • We've just enjoyed a great second visit to this lovely little hideaway in Devon. The house has everything you need for a quiet, relaxing holiday, and the stunning views from every window make this spot extra special. Already looking forward to coming back!

    Becky2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time at The Count House. Beautiful inside and out. So peaceful with the only sounds being the Tamar rapids and the birds. Best airbnb we've stayed in to date.

    Jane2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay. We switched our phones off for four days and sank into the peace of Dartmoor. Appreciated things like the low-key communications, and the thoughtful, calm aesthetic of the house. Will definitely return, thanks Claire.

    Bec2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • The view from the house is really beautiful - the location couldn't be better. The house itself is very comfortable and well appointed, with a nice big wood burner. I would highly recommend Claire's place if you're looking for a break surrounded by nature. We loved our stay (and the friendly cat that came to visit).

    Siobhan2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • If a break away in a very cosy ,stylish cottage with every convenience ,that feels as if it is a retreat from hectic city life , surrounded by natural beauty and easy to navigate walks is what you are looking for Claire’s Count House is the best you are likely to find

    Brendan2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay, everything that you needed, a magical place to stay, lot's of peace and quiet just what the "doctor ordered", will definitely be returning. Sparkling clean and Claire our host was lovely.

    Jennifer2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Our third time at The Count House and, after a very hectic few months, a complete tonic! So peaceful and relaxing, the house is perfectly located, nestled in the Tamar Valley with gorgeous walks right on the doorstep. The Count House is comfortable and welcoming in a wonderfully uncontrived, unfussy way. The bed is super comfy and waking up to that incredible view each morning is a sight to lift the soul. We were especially privileged to see a beautiful deer in the garden on a couple of occasions, and the visit from the friendly little black cat, who sat with my husband as he did a bit of painting and drawing on the bench outside was lovely, too! We'll be back in the Spring for more of the same!

  • Ian and Jane went above and beyond to make our stay super relaxing - understanding what it takes to have a break when traveling with small children. The Old Post Office, Bere Ferrers and the surrounding area were all delightful. A really super find. Thank you!

  • We were not able to stay on our planned dates due to the storm, but we hope to visit soon. Ian and Jane are great hosts, most understanding when we called off at short notice.

  • A wonderful stay at a lovely cottage in the most cosy of villages. The host’s communication was efficient and when we arrived the little touches like tea, coffee, biscuits, shower gel, shampoo etc were a very nice touch. The cottage is immaculate and well kept. The location is beautiful and very tranquil. Will certainly return if the opportunity arises.

    Samuel2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place to stay, clean and welcoming and so nice to have the little extra christmassy touches. The bed was really comfortable, the shower was great, the decor was lovely and it was very cosy and romantic. The little extras for the dog were great too. All in all we enjoyed it immensely and have booked again already! Bere Ferrers is a beautiful peaceful place.

    Joanna2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • A quaint cottage in the perfect spot to explore the Dartmoor and Devon area. Ian and Jane were very friendly and informative on areas to visit. The cottage had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Thank you for having us. Merry Christmas.

  • We had a great time at the Old Post Office. The cottage is comfortable and has everything you need. We took our dog and enjoyed the walk down to the dam and further along to Milton Comb. The old plough pub across the road serves nice food and is very handy to the cottage. We hope to visit again in the summer.

    Rebecca2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The experience was so much more than what I had thought it would be. The pod we stayed in was everything we’d expected and much more. There were so many little details thought though such as the heated bed mattress. The hot tub experience was great.

    Alex2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely one night stay, the room is very spacious and cosy and the bed was very comfy as well, We was looked after by Dan’s Mum and she was very welcoming and helpful with any questions I had. Gorgeous location and very peaceful, will definitely be coming back.

    Jade2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Daniel and Victoria's place. It was the perfect spot to relax, recharge and get away from it all. The hut was spotless, the bed incredibly comfortable and the gardens beautiful. We also enjoyed the sauna and hot tub which were both incredible. We will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone looking for a retreat in the area.

    Becky2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent. Exactly as described. Very good communication.

    Peter2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in Wollemia. The location is lovely and quiet and even though there are two other pods on the site, you would hardly know it. It's so quiet and peaceful and brilliant place to completely chill out. Dan and Victoria were great and really quick in answering any queries we had. They were really lovely and generous. We also used the hot tub on both nights. I would recommend it, it was very hot and soothing after long drives and walks around the local area! I would definitely recommend a stay here if you're looking to switch off and get away from the real world for a couple of nights.

    Chris2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, amazing hosts, they will help you with any query you have. Super romantic for couples and even though you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere you can easily pop out for some dinner or a drink at a local pub! Already recommended to lots of friends.

The cottage is situated in a quiet location in the market town of Tavistock, but it is walking distance to the town square. It's only two miles to Dartmoor National Park, which you can see from our garden. A Victorian miners' cottage, part of the Tamar Valley World Heritage Site, it is cosy and refurbished to a high standard. It is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), and pets. One of our guests summed it up: 'The cottage is an absolute jewel'
The Cottage is spacious and has been renovated recently, the latest addition being a wood burning stove in the front room. There is sitting room, kitchen and dining room, two double bedrooms and another with bunkbeds. There is also a sofa bed available for two more. It can sleep eight people. We also have a travel cot for babies. There is a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs. There are two toilets, one upstairs and one downstairs, a bath and a separate walk in shower. The kitchen is fully equipped with a washing machine and a dishwasher. Pets are welcome. The garden is free for you to use and we are a short walk from the town, local park, swimming pool and arts centre, with cinema. There is free internet and a smart tv. Also available are board games, books, DVDs, piano and guitar.
Fitzford Cottages are unique. We are part of the Tamar Valley World Heritage site. The Victorian miners cottage was built in 1862 as ideal housing for the Duke of Bedford's mines. We are situated in the town but in a quiet location. It is peaceful and secluded whilst being walking distance from the attractions of the town. Tavistock is an award winning market town with independent shops, an indoor pannier market and a choice of superb restaurants, pubs and tearooms.
  • A charming, cosy cottage in a great location. We would happily stay again :-)

    Richard2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage! We all enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again. It’s in a great location as it’s close enough to town but still very quiet. Unfortunately we only had a few days there and didn’t have an opportunity to explore in and around Tavistock much but there’s more than enough to do in the area to keep you busy. There is also a guide in the cottage of things to do locally and around Devon. Cottage was clean and tidy and felt like a home away from home! We headed into town on our last night for a great meal as there’s plenty of places to eat or shops are within walking distance of you prefer to cook yourself. We didn’t really have any issues but Christina answered any questions we had promptly and was helpful when we needed her.

    Lee2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • It's a lovely house & Christina is a good host. Only able to stay one night this trip however we'd like to go back again. The area looks great to explore.

    Jason2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Christina’s cottage is lovely. It looks like a little cottage but it’s a surprisingly commodious place, beautifully fitted out, in a very convenient spot for exploring Tavistock and its environs.

    Sue2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage and we enjoyed our stay... great communication from the host... the only thing I’d say is go careful in the back garden if you have a dog because the gardens are all open, but the front little garden was great for a springer

    Amanda2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cottage!! We stayed here for 1 night! It was our annual girls Christmas get together and we loved how cosy and relaxing it was! Christina is such an amazing host and helped us when we needed it! Would definitely recommend this cottage!!

    Nicolle2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely cottage is right in the heart of Tavistock. Just a short walk in to town. The cottage itself is a perfect mix of traditional and modern. It’s cosy and stylish and has everything you need for a stay away from home! Christina was really accommodating and helpful. Would definitely recommend and return!

The pool and hot tub were amazing, and the view of the valley from the pool, breathtaking! Jon and Kim were the perfect hosts and have a great family. The farm was wonderful. The last night, Jon had a fire going and we sat and drank beer and scotch. We are working plans to come back here at the end of July. Recommend this to anyone and everyone!

Authentic character and quaint quirkiness in a charming village makes Miners Cottage a special retreat. The cottage went through an entire refurb recently and now offers a lovely log fire, lots of wall heating, crisp white cotton linen and new high quality mattresses promising to guarantee a cozy, comfortable and relaxing stay.
Typical cozy tin mine cottage, completely refurbished recently. A special retreat for weekenders and walkers. Relax in front of the log burner or take a stroll down to the lively Tamar Inn for a sumptuous meal or drink. Art galleries, live music and a cake & coffee shop bring the sleeping village to life. Calstock is also a great base from which you can explore Cornwall.
The village (and parish) of Calstock is situated on the River Tamar several miles east of Callington and 12 miles upstream from Plymouth in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a pretty village with cottages lining the narrow streets as they climb up the steep bank of the Tamar. Calstock is dominated by the magnificent railway viaduct which was built in 1907 and is one of the last great railway viaducts. Standing at 120 feet tall with 12 sixty foot arches, the viaduct carries the Tamar Valley railway which runs from Plymouth to Gunnislake. About a mile down the Tamar is Cothele, a mediaeval/Tudor house and estate now owned by the National Trust. Built between 1485 and 1627 it is a fine example, and considered one of the least-altered houses of the period in the United Kingdom. Along with the restored working watermill, the riverside gardens and quay are well worth a visit. Whilst now-a-days Calstock is a fairly sleepy backwater it has a long history as an industrial post. In Roman times it was already settled and possibly a tin trading post and from Saxon times it was definitely a port. Calstock's heyday was in the 19th century when it was a booming mining town with a population of around 7,000. Copper, tin, tungsten and even silver were mined here and there was a granite quarry neaby. These were then all shipped downstream from the town's quay. However, with the decline in the mining industry Calstock became a sleepy riverside village with the remains of the engine houses as a reminder to its past fortunes. Although the Tamar is still navigable by small boats up to Calstock, the railway replaced it as the primary source of transport.
  • Characterful little gem of a cottage in a beautiful location. The house is cosy and stylish, equipped with everything you may need for a holiday stay. Thoughtful touches that exceeded expectation. Hope to return and would definitely recommend.

  • We have just had the most enjoyable break at Tim’s lovely Miners Cottage. A comfortable little place to stay, full of Cornish character and cosiness. We even had a cream tea to welcome us and a bottle of wine to share in front of the wood burner, after a long day exploring Dartmoor. Would most definitely recommend.

Belle House is a 3 storey Georgian house in a stunning position overlooking the Tamar Valley in East Cornwall. The apartment comprises all of the garden level of the house and has a remarkable unspoilt direct view of the valley, the river Tamar and the viaduct. Please note one double bed is in the living area and the second double bed is in a seperate bedroom with en suite bathroom. In low season the price is £75 if you are using one bed and £85 if you are using both beds. High season £85/£95
The main living space is decorated with many pieces that we have collected on our travels to India, Indonesia, Morocco and Europe. The double bedroom and wet room are in the Modernist style and we had lots of fun doing it all. The living area also has a double bed and would be suitable for children or good friends
Calstock is a gem of a village and recently names a World Heritage Site. Set in the leafy Tamar valley it has been an inland port since Roman times and more recently an important supplier of daffodils, strawberries and tomatoes to the UK due to its unique micro climate. There is lots to explore in the many woodland paths including the ruins of ancient mines and Cotehele house and gardens ( National Trust ). The village has a reputation for being arty which is very much in the Cornish tradition. We boast a Gallery, Art Centre which hosts world class acts, two pubs, social club and a village hall which also promotes quality music and theatre. The sea is about 45mins to either the south or north coast which has excellent surfing. Dartmoor and Bodmin moor are 25 mins away and boast many prehistoric sites and fine walking. Or you could just sit in the garden and do nothing but watch the cows on the other bank going in to be milked. Or lay in bed and marvel at our beautiful viaduct.
  • Julian is a very friendly chap, who greets you with a smile and warm welcome. The apartment is very cosy with many quirky features. Lovely and clean, the bed was really comfy and Julian even put a hot water bottle in it for us, how sweet! The views are to die for. We had a great stay in this lovely house.

The bedroom is extremely comfortable. Spacious, well equipped kitchen . I really could go on and on . Calstock is like the village that time forgot . The locals are so friendly and the walking paths through ancient forests and the ever present views ensure we will be returning. If you’re looking for a splendid holiday, stay here ! • We had a lovely stay at this flat in Calstock. Julian is an excellent host - friendly, quick to respond, and full of local recommendations. The flat has a big open plan living area which includes a sitting/tv area, dining area, kitchen, and a double bed on one side. There's also a separate bedroom with another double bed and a bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots/pans, crockery, and some condiments, as well as some breakfast foods. The view across the river and bridge was beautiful and location is excellent for a recce around Dartmoor and surrounds. We stayed with our parents and our 2 month old. Everyone had a great time and slept very well. Thanks Julian!

  • Such a lovely spot and a really friendly host! Julian bought us umbrellas when it was raining so we didn’t have to get wet walking to the wedding, and was ok with us turning up late due to traffic. The location is beautiful too!

  • A fantastic place to spend a few days, Julian's hospitality made our stay, with his local knowledge and its wonderful views. It is a great place to stay to expore the area with local amenities and a local pub serving excellent food

  • Julian responded so promptly to our rather late request to book and was there to welcome us on arrival. His place had all we needed for a very comfortable few days in Calstock. Julian is very friendly and full of local knowledge. We really enjoyed our stay, especially coffee on the sunny terrace with that gorgeous view.

Calstock is a friendly rural village in Cornwall located on the River Tamar in the heart of the Tamar Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a lively community, and a well kept secret! The village has a rich history due to its port and deposits of; tin, silver, copper and granite and is a Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. The boat yard is still active today, located under the iconic viaduct, as the river is navigable from Plymouth at high tide. The area is popular for its natural beauty amongst hikers, dog-walkers, cyclists and mountain bikers. The River Tamar also attracts; sailors, kayakers, canoeists, stand-up-paddleboarders and is home to some of the best salmon, sea trout and grayling fishing in the region. There are a number of regular events from comedy, film and music at the Calstock Arts Centre and the annual Calstock Bike Show. The two pubs The Boot Inn and The Tamar Inn offer fantastic value on some pub classics (the roast at The Boot is to die for) and both the cosy Lishe Café and Calstock Dockyard honesty café offer delicious homemade cake and scones. Nearby there are numerous hiking and biking trails to discover especially on the Bodmin Moors or Dartmoor or along the coast on the South West Costal Trail. Iconic Cornish beaches such as Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach are within driving distance. Nearer to Calstock the walk to Cotehele House National Trust property or Cotehele Quay along the Tamar is a personal favourite, although the Okeltor mine is not to be missed.
  • We had a wonderful stay in Lorraine's very stylish home. Calstock is lovely small English town.

  • Lorraine and Emma, we're brilliant! They helped us out a load with places to eat as workers - we were not there for pleasure but Lorraine and Emma certainly made it a pleasurable experience. Mariners is a great wee place to stay that's well equipped and comfortable. I'd highly recommend a stay with both lovely hosts and house.

The Bothy is situated in the magnificent grounds of Tharsis House in the idyllic Cornish village of Calstock. It faces onto a secluded courtyard with a dedicated private garden at the rear and is only a few minutes walk to the village pubs, shop, cafe, massage therapist, art gallery and train station. It is perfect for Cornish summers spent exploring the Tamar Valley, Dartmoor and surrounding areas. The cottage has a wood-burning stove and underfloor heating to keep it snug in the cooler months.
Even though The Bothy is in the village of Calstock, it's totally surrounded by the grounds of Tharsis House and therefore very private.
The Tamar Valley cuts it way along the border between Cornwall and Devon, from Plymouth on the south coast to Bude on the north coast. The ancient stannery and market town of Tavistock with its pannier market (active since 1148) is a short drive from Calstock, with Plymouth a thirty minute trip away by train or car. The quaint Calstock train station is located by our back gate and trains run to and from Plymouth every two hours. The thirty minute trip each way is very scenic and relaxing. Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor are close by, with numerous walking trails and dramatic scenery to be enjoyed. Historic Cotehele House, the first National Trust property in the UK, is a thirty minute walk along the river bank, with beautiful views back along the river to the village.
  • We have stayed at the Bothy two times now and we wouldn’t hesitate on booking it again for our next visit. Thanks Lauren and Alex for your hospitality.

    Andrea2019-12-28T00:00:00Z

  • The Bothy is a gem in the middle of a wonderful village. We stayed there right after our wedding and we had a very nice and private mini break. Lauren and Alex were amazing and the communication was great. We had lovely flowers, fruits and biscuits on our arrival and Alex even gave us a lift with our suitcases when we checked out. Fully recommend this place if you want a get away from the city.

    Andrea2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy bothy, sparkling clean with lots of little homely touches. Tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and fruit upon arrival and access to the beautiful grounds of the huge house next door that it sits within. Amazing location in the heart of Calstock with its own secret entrance to the train station!

    Leyla2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly how you'd imagine a tucked-away little flat to be in a tucked-away part of Cornwall. The personal touches were beautiful. The communication was easy and speedy. Highly recommended.

    David2019-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • A great little cottage in a quaint little village. Excellent communication and check in. All you need is in the cottage, most importantly a comfortable bed and a great shower. Enjoy the peace away from the hustle of city living. The Boot Inn, only 5 minutes walk away, provides excellent home cooked meals and pints. Great base for exploring the wonderful moors (Dartmoor) and the top half of Cornwall. Lots to see and do. The train to Plymouth is at the back gate to the cottage.

  • The Boathouse has an absolutely unbeatable location, and Tom and his family are kind and welcoming hosts. Calstock is a sleepy place, but utterly charming with loads to do on the doorstep. We stayed (unexpectedly) during the annual bike show which was just the right amount of lively. As an extra treat we enjoyed the massive fireworks display they laid on from our own garden. We would definitely return to this special place.

  • The boathouse is absolutely amazing- a perfect peaceful spot, amazing location and well equipped! Cannot recommend highly enough!!

  • The boat house is in the most beautiful location with stunning views. Highly recommend this airbnb. The boat house itself is really nicely decorated and all the facilities were great. Wished we stayed longer! Also great communication from Tom the host. This was accommodation after our wedding , and it was perfect for this! Thanks for an amazing stay!

    Katie2019-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous position - right on the banks of the Tamar. We arrived on a gloomy February afternoon to find the little log stove blazing away in the bedroom, which has an amazing view of the viaduct and the countryside across the river. So we sat on the cosy cushions by the window and watched the sunset. Perfect.

  • Perfect location for a mini break. You feel secluded and private but are close to the town center. The house itself is ideally and simply furnished. Everything was as described, very very clean and the check in process was brilliant. Lots of friendly ducks come to the door and will nibble the corn provided, the views are astonishing. Doesn’t get much better.

  • A very memorable evening at Rosemary's well appointed cottage; spent sitting around the open fire chatting; with three happy dogs, two hers and one ours. Rosemary is a remarkable host and a captivating conversationalist who made us all three - including our wolf hound - feel very welcome. We enjoyed talking to her and loved meeting her cute Tibetan Terriers. The bedroom was cosy and the bed most comfortable to sleep in. Lots of lovely pictures around the house. For dinner we walked with the hound to the local pub The Carpenters Arms which turned out to be a bit of a dog heaven! Very tasty seafood. Overall, a fantastic stay. Thank you, Rosemary!

A single room in a house, within walking distance of the town centre, bus stops and train station. Off road parking if required. Secure space for bikes, etc. We're on a quiet street, very close to the middle of Saltash and less than a mile from the Tamar bridge. If you're getting the bus then our nearest stop is Fore Street, either top or bottom.
A 1950s house on a quiet road. Most of our neighbours are elderly and so it is very peaceful here. We're on the north side of Saltash and overlook where the Tamar river meets the Tavy. You can see Kit Hill, in Callington from the front of the house, and on a very clear day, both Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor.
We're both very relaxed and like a bottle of wine in the garden or in front of the fire, depending on the time of year. We like the pub and can give good advice on where to visit, both in Saltash and the surrounding area.
  • I'll save you some time, if you're looking for high quality airbnb with almost everything thought of, sparkling clean amenities, and warm hosts, book this place. You won't regret it.

Near Blisland you will find two of Cornwalls stone circles, the Trippet Stones and Stripple Stone Henge and just round the corner, one end of the famous Camel Trail. What does this have to do with our local area? The 18 mile Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths, providing a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge out to Padstow, eminently suitable for families. The National Lobster Hatchery at Padstow neighbours Rick Steins empire on the North Coast. The Bodmin and Wenford Railway, the first steam operated railway in Cornwall, takes in 13 miles of countryside. Also just outside Bodmin is the Camel Valley Vineyard who have been winning awards for their home grown wine for the past 20 years. The National Trust have a number of properties nearby with Cotehele House being just 3 miles away. - Lanhydrock House, Trerice, Antony (used for Disney's Alice in Wonderland), Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps. Slightly further afield is the Eden Project in St Austell. Bodmin Jail built in 1778, notorious for its public executions by hanging, was the first jail to be built housing inmates in individual cells. The Jail closed in 1927 and is now a museum open to the public, which during the First World War housed the Crown Jewels and the Doomsday Book.Dartmoor is closer to us and more popular even though it is in Devon.Dartmoor, to the east, is one of our National Parks and covers 368 square miles of Devon, from tors and moorland, to valleys with streams and waterfalls, Dartmoor is rich with Neolithic and early Bronze age hut circles and standing stones, there are dozens of walks from easy strolls to demanding hikes. The highest point is High Willhays at 2037ft above sea level with stunning views in all directions. Princetown in the centre has the renowned Dartmoor Brewery with the famous "Jale Ale" named as a reference to Dartmoor Prison. You can be on Dartmoor National park in just twenty minutes from the Tamar Orchard Barn. Our ‘local' pub the White Hart is five minutes away and has just been awarded the 2019 CAMRA Cornish Pub Of The Year, well worth a visit!

The Chapel at Harewood Farm is a bespoke-built tiny house in a secluded meadow in a curve on the river Tamar in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An ideal peaceful retreat for one/two people. A double bed folds away into the wall which allows a writing desk to unfold. A small wood burner keeps the place cosy inside. Sit out on the porch by the outdoor fire in the evening. Watch the ever changing the river. While away the hours to the gentle sounds of the wildlife in the undisturbed meadow.
We have an indoor-outdoor shower with hot water generated by gas. And your own private compost loo with a view. There's a wooden outdoor yoga deck nearby. You can make your morning cuppa on a gas burner on the chapel porch, cook in our Field kitchen (a separate building from the Chapel) or utilise a BBQ/Fire. Firewood for the stove is Free. At certain times of the year our own organic grown produce is available for sale. And sometimes we have fresh sourdough bread, fermented/pickled vegetables for sale too. The meadow is only accessible by 4x4 vehicle. You may park in our yard and we will take you to the Chapel in our vehicle.
Harewood Farm is a special hideaway location- It is within an ANOB, SSSI, SAC site and World Heritage Area- we told you it was special! It is peaceful and secluded, a true get away. The village of Calstock is close by with it's pubs and wonderful cafe. There are great walks and things to see while you're here. We're happy to give you tips for what to do and there's a OS map to find your way around
  • A wonderful stay at the lovely Chapel! Ken was really friendly and helpful, giving us tips as to how to make the most of the local area. The Chapel itself was perfect for a rural escape, with the wood burner adding a romantic touch (and heat), owls chatting through the night, and a beautiful view to wake up to in the morning. Hope to stay again next year! Ken is clearly passionate about the world and sustainability, it really shows in what he offers as a host.

  • Wonderful location, welcoming hosts. The chapel is the place to go for some peace and quiet in an idyllic setting. It is basic, but an ideal getaway for walkers and nature lovers. Loved the little touches like bunches of flowers, homemade bug spray and Ken was kind enough to place our wine in the cooler! Thanks Ken and Jo :)

  • We highly recommend Ken & Jo's beautiful retreat. We absolutely loved the little house and the view from the bedroom was astounding!

  • We had a great time in Cornwall. This is a really peaceful, back to basics retreat, perfect for anyone that wants to get off the grid for a few days. The accommodation is very basic, so this really is for people who can manage without luxury and mod cons. We loved it here and would highly recommend to others looking for the same experience. Ken and Jo were great hosts, very helpful if needed.

  • What a wonderful few days stay at this little slice of heaven near by the river. The Chapel is in a great secluded location, perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle, and with amazing views. The Chapel itself was very comfortable and had all we needed in it. The bed was especially comfy! The field kitchen was really well equipped, and great to cook in and spend the evening with the barn doors open looking out over the countryside We were made to feel very welcome and comfortable during our stay, and there were so many little touches, from the freshly cut flowers from the garden to coming back one evening to find a couple of our ciders put in the chiller :) that made it extra special. Communication before we arrived was prompt and Ken was really helpful with our check in, especially when our arrival was much delayed due to traffic on the way. All in all this is a great airbnb which we would love to come and revisit.

  • Thanks guys, had a great stay at an amazing location. Enjoyed our first Air BnB experience very much

  • This was a great escape for a couple of Londoners. One of those unique Airbnb’s that you hope to find! It’s all about getting back to nature here, The Chapel which was built by Ken is set in a beautiful meadow - small but perfectly formed, we really enjoyed the outdoor fireplace on the deck. The loo is perfectly placed not too close not too far, the shower is a short walk across the meadow but was lovely and hot. Ken & Jo are wonderful hosts - provided lots of information on the property & surrounding area. Definitely take them up on the home grown produce, we had the best, freshest breakfast & dinner! Overall we loved our adventure and would highly recommend, Thanks for having us!

  • You could not wish for a more peaceful and stunning location to get away from it all. The Count House was beautifully restored and decorated, also very comfortable and spotlessly clean, with all the necessary home comforts. The views out of the windows were breathtaking to wake up to and the historic mine was very interesting to explore. The communication from Greg and Nick was faultless and made our stay smooth and effortless.

Kilworthy Rise Annex is under 10 mins walking distance of the historical award winning market town of Tavistock and an ideal place to stay for those wishing to explore the town facilities while benefiting from staying in a rural location. The Annex affords you the freedom and privacy you would expect from staying in an apartment with the advantage of the warm welcome and support you would expect from staying in a hosts home. A self serve breakfast is included and provided in the kitchenette.
Please be aware that there are three steps to access the Annex. There is one really comfortable double bed with double duvet and a lovely double sofa bed. The Annex is perfect for singles or couples and can confortably accommodate an additional adult or a child on the sofa bed. The Annex has a small kitchenette equipped with a sink, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster where you will find everything you need to make breakfast, snacks/picnic lunches, refreshments and re-heat food. Please note there is no full cooker/stove/oven in the accommodation. For breakfast we provide a selection of breakfast cereal, muesli, granola, toast, jam/marmalade, fresh fruit, orange juice, tea, coffee, biscuits and milk in the Annex kitchenette allowing you to be fully self sufficient which is all included in the price. In addition a cooked breakfast or full English breakfast can be delivered to the Annex for you at a very reasonable additional charge. Several guests have commented on how much they enjoyed the cooked breakfast (my husband is a chef) so please ask for details and availability if this is required.
Kilworthy Rise Annex is situated in a quiet, rural location on the edge of Tavistock town centre. It is perfect for those who would like to be within walking distance of the town centre but would also prefer not to be staying on a busy main street. Tavistock is a great place to stay for walkers exploring Dartmoor, cycling Route 27 or just visiting on a stop off on the way down to Cornwall. It is within easy reach of the North Cornish coast with the amazing beaches at Bude and Newquay and ideally situated to explore the city of Plymouth and Cornish town of Looe. There are a variety of National Trust properties in the area (Lydford Gorge, Cothele House, Buckland Abbey, Castle Drogo and Finch Foundary ) and we have had guests go on day trips to the Eden project.
  • Splotlessly clean, blissfully quiet and faultlessly welcoming.

  • A great find for a weekend on the moor! Jane was a lovely host, very welcoming and approachable. The annex was comfortable and cosy despite the wet weather we had and had all the essentials you needed. Definitely recommend and can't wait to come again in the future.

  • A most delightful place. All spotlessly clean and comfortable and very peaceful. Almost home from home. Very generous breakfast items were thoughtfully provided in the kitchenette. All credit to Jane.

  • We stayed one night because we were going to an event in Tavistock. The place is a little converted outbuilding, maybe once a garage. It's spotlessly clean and Jane went to a lot of trouble finding vegan breakfast items. It's about 10 minutes downhill to town and a steep walk back but definitely doable. It's very quiet and has everything you need for a short break.

    Jane2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very good choice for host and home to stay at. Highly recommend this place.

    Sasho2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our one night stay to attend a wedding in the area. The annex was perfect for what we required & had everything we needed. Jane was very welcoming & couldn’t have helped more. Would definitely recommend. Thanks for a great stay. P.S - Sorry we didn’t get a chance to say bye!

    Rosie2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a spotlessly clean and comfortable place to stay, with a wide selection of items provided for breakfast and snacks. It's a really peaceful location, but with easy access to the town of Tavistock.

  • Beautiful hand-made hut in the most spectacular position - at the top of a Devon field on the farm belonging to the owners Richard and Alison - overlooking the hills of Cornwall. Fields slope down to gorgeous wooded valley and Tamar river. Hut is extremely cosy, very stylish, comfortable bed and Alison and Richard very thoughtfully left some bread, milk, butter, tea bags and a bottle of wine - much appreciated. It was lashing with rain the night I arrived but would love to go back in the summer - a very special place. Highly recommend.

    Joanna2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in this charming shepherd's hut, warm and cosy too as Richard had lit the wood burner ready for our arrival. As the hut is basic and all water and washing facilities are outside, we suggest taking some wet wipes with you for those inevitable sticky fingers from the lovely breakfast welcome pack. Beautiful outlook and very private, in the heart of the Tamar Valley, we found it a good base for exploring the area.

    Karen2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • It's the perfect place if you want to spend some quiet time by yourself. The hut is very well equipped and super cozy!

    Philipp2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolute gem of a place just on the edge of the stunning dartmoor and a stones throw from the south coast of England. Amazing hosts and amazing stay.

    Liam2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely surroundings and a lovely, spacious hut. Absolutely every thing you could want. The views from the shower were amazing and the hut was so well insulated that we were sleeping with the windows open which was a nice change from feeling cold at night like some others we've stayed in. 10 out of 10.

    Peter2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Shepherds hut is in a stunning location, close to nature, cosy and comfortable. We had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The hosts where great and easy to chat with. Can’t recommend the whole experience enough. x.

  • COULDN’T RECOMMEND ANYMORE! No brainer on booking. The hosts were incredible- so quick with communication, great on arrival, super friendly and super attentive. The hut itself is absolutely gorgeous and makes such a romantic break. Super clean, super comfortable and with the fire- so warm! We went for a walk across the fields down into woods, with our dogs which was recommend. The dogs had an absolute blast- so much space for them to roam free. We had the essentials provided and needed no more. We were advised about food in the next local town The old plough inn- couldn’t recommend anymore either, the food was amazing and all home made by a lovely family. After we got back, we sat outside and used the fire provided to toast marshmallows (also provided) it was beautiful. We will be sure to book again!

    Charlotte2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous escape! We were very well looked after...lots of great suggestions for places to go and wild swimming (swimming across the Tamar to the pub in Calstock with our gear in bin bags, followed by train ride back will stay in our memories for ever!), as will the best blackberry jam ever, picking fresh herbs, salad leaves and blackberries, cooking on and sitting by the fire pit and an outdoor shower with the most spectacular view...thank you.

Built in 2017 refurbished in 2020, now tanked to give a better experience in winter. Situated in a large garden with uninterrupted views of the River Tamar, from both the cabin and decking, Ideal retreat for artists, writers, walkers and nature lovers. The garden is unsuitable for children as it is steep and bits are unstable There is strictly no fishing. Just enjoy a natural habitat, which is plentiful. You might see kingfishers, otters, cormorants, leaping fish, I hope so!
The Ottery was originally built as an artist studio, but I decided the view was so beautiful I wanted to share it with other nature and peace lovers. It was completed in April 2017 and is situated at the end of my garden. It has wooden floors in the living areas and tile in the bathroom. It has decking on 2 sides with a table and chairs to enjoy being immersed in nature. In the winter it is cosy but, it is a cabin, and does not have double glazing but gets warm quickly when the fire is lit, for which kiln dried wood is provided. Warmth can be maintained with an oil filled radiator, this to me is part of the romance of staying in a cabin in the winter. There is a condensation issue in the winter as it is warmer inside the building than out, but a handy tool and kitchen roll is provided so that the view is not obscured. The cabin has far reaching views up the river and is situated close to an ancient monument, Newbridge which is a 16th Century bridge, it is 500 years old this year. There are 6 fantastic walks available by walking out of the front door, no need to use the car! When the river is being lazy you can swim from the garden, but you need to ask me first please so I can judge if it is safe as the currents can be deceptive. It is close to Dartmoor and about 30 mins drive to the coast. It has no wifi or TV, but I have provided basic artist materials (please bring your own paper), board games, jigsaws and books and magazines. Mobile service is excellent for Vodafone and 02, but for other networks you might have to go on the roof to get a signal! If you need to contact someone, provided it is in the UK you are welcome to use my landline.
Gunnislake is a working village with 4 pubs, a post office, general stores, an excellent butchers and a hardware and gift shop. It is situated about 200 meters from the cabin, but up a very steep hill (good exercise) there is free parking for 2 hours in the village. Gunni has a train station and a regular bus service. The nearest town, Tavistock is 5 miles away and is a market town. Plymouth is the nearest city by car it takes about 30 mins and is also accessible by a scenic train journey or by bus. There are restaurants close by and food round here is excellent. There are no nightclubs! Villagers tend to be very friendly, and helpful.

The Old Smithy is set is a secluded valley on the river Tavy. It is a mile from the nearest road, down a private track through beautiful moorland and woodland. It's an ideal base for walking, cycling wild swimming and getting away from it all, a true nature lovers paradise! We live in a house on the same site so will be on hand for any advice or assistance. We are on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and an hour's drive from numerous beaches. The thriving town of Tavsitock is 7 miles away.
The Old Smithy has one bedroom with a king size bed. There is a double sofa bed and a single raised sleeping platform in the living area, with a ladder to access. It is ideal for a couple, a small family or group of friends happy to share. The kitchen is well-equipped and the dining table seats four people. Due to the remote location there is no television signal, but there is a television with USB ports and a large DVD library! There is no WiFi in The Old Smithy, but there is generally mobile signal and mobile data directly outside the front door. Please note: The last part of our track is unmade and we use 4x4 cars. We will be very happy to meet guests at a lay by half a mile away to bring them and their luggage to The Old Smithy and to return them at the end of the stay. There is parking by The Old Smithy for anyone brave enough to drive down all the way! It is advisable to bring any heavy items of shopping when you first arrive.
There are lots of beautiful walks and swimming spots right on the doorstep. The village of Yelverton which has a co-op, butchers, pharmacy , hairdressers and wonderful deli and coffee shop, The Game Larder, is 3 miles away. Buckland Abbey, National Trust Property and former home of Sir Francis Drake and The Garden House, a beautiful garden managed by the Forescue Garden Trust are both very nearby and worth a visit. The Drake Manor Inn and The Who'd Have Thought It pubs in neighbouring villages Buckland Monachorum and Milton Coombe are both great places to eat. We are right by Drakes Trail National Cycle Route 27. The thriving market town of Tavistock is a 7 mile drive or 4 mile walk away. Tavistock has a vibrant Arts centre The Wharf, numerous coffee shops and restaurants and some lovely independent shops and galleries.
  • We had a great stay, Crispin and Caroline were great hosts! The accommodation was even better than we expected and the setting was fantastic - quiet and calming, rural but not far from civilisation. We had a great time and would love to re-visit one day.

    John2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place to stay and relax.

    Emma2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my Partner will 100% be coming back to stay, we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend getaway in the Smithy. Not only were our hosts welcoming and polite they also offered a hand with our belongings. 5/5 🌟 From Myself and Natalie

    Drew2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Old Smithy is an incredible place to stay! You're literally off the beaten track in some stunning Dartmoor woodland. Communication and check-in with Crispin is really easy and the place itself is so lovely inside. There's loads of thoughtful touches throughout and we had a fantastic stay. We hope to visit again in the summer!

    Stephen2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Getting to the place in itself is great experience. Beautiful location, beautiful and clean place.

    Pradeep2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible peaceful location and a cosy base to explore from. Lovely warm hosts, Crispin went out of his way to make are stay as good as possible.

    Peter2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • The most beautiful setting hidden deep in the forest. The accommodation was beautifully done, super clean, and the little touches by the most wonderful hosts Crispin and Caroline was fantastic. We couldn’t fault how attentive Crispin and Caroline have been on messages, and ensuring we found the location without trouble. We went with our wobbly walking 1 year old baby and dog and it was a home away from home. My only advice for those without a car with a decent amount of clearance, or an SUV is to be my mindful the final 0.5 miles is a very rough track. We did it in our family Mini but there were a few close to the bottom moments. Crispin always offered to pick us up from the lay-by just before the track turns rough so this shouldn’t stop you. If you have kids they’d love the experience of being picked up in Crispin’s pick-up truck! Couldn’t recommend it more - we will definitely be rebooking!

Kingfisher Pod at Milemead is ideal for those looking to get away from it all. It is located in a tranquil, west-facing spot surrounded by wildlife, directly overlooking a picturesque lake. Milemead is a coarse fishery, and fishing and tackle is available to guests. We are located 2 miles from the historic town of Tavistock, 3 miles from spectacular Dartmoor and from popular mountain bike trails, making this a great destination for walkers, runners and cyclists.
In the pod you will find details of recommended local places to eat, including takeaways, some of which offer a delivery service
  • The cabin is situated in a tranquil location and the only noise you hear is that of the wildlife. The cabin was immaculately clean and as were the ablutions. There was tea/coffee and fresh milk in the cabin for our arrival which was a nice touch after a long drive. We would definitely recommend staying here for a night or two !

    Mitch2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing hospitality and setting. We enjoyed our stay at the fisheries. Definitely would come back again.

    Daniel2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and super comfortable pod. Very snug in winter, going to sleep with the sound of owls all around and woodpeckers in the daytime. Wonderful to see the kingfishers so near the pod. Very friendly hosts- always happy to help me out and great facilities in the pod. Would recommend this for short or long stay as there is lots to do in the area, with maps etc in the pod.

  • We would highly recommend this place to stay. It is a very modern and well equipped converted barn in the middle of beautiful countryside. Olivia is also a brilliant and incredibly considerate host.

    Patrick2020-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Bulrush Barn is an amazing find - the barn itself was immaculate and the perfect place for us to stay for 10 nights. Olivia was extremely accommodating and helped to make sure that we had everything we needed prior to arrival - we were traveling with our 16 month old as well and Olivia was kind enough to have a full crib (cot) set up and ready for us. Everyone on the farm was friendly and welcoming to us all. We can not recommend this Barn highly enough - Thank You Olivia!

    Luke2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Olivia was really good at communicating with us before our booking and arrival, which we were incredibly grateful for given this was our first time using AirBnB. Right from our arrival, Olivia and Ed were both so welcoming and Olivia showed us to our cottage and how to work the hot tub etc. Being city dwellers, this was incredibly useful for us. Whilst the barn is obviously part of the family farm, it still offers superb privacy and it didn’t feel as though we were staying close by to anyone. It was clean, cosy, very well equipped for cooking and entertainment. We were actually late arriving as we went back for our chess board but there was already one in the cupboard so we know better for next time. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing and the added touches of two desserts, a Christmas tree, fresh milk etc. were all very sweet additions. Our advice for those heading to the barn is to get groceries on the way in from the local supermarket to save having to go back out for it after arriving. Oh and the bed is VERY soft but everything else makes up for it!

    Hannahrose2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, great place, great hot tub.....just great. Olivia's cooking is worth trying also :-)

    Rob2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful and private, we had a lovely week of feeling totally at one with nature 😊 The barn was spotlessly clean, and the management couldn’t do enough to help. Would definitely recommend, and would love to return in the summer and see what it looks like when it’s not grey and raining!

    Kelly2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Olivia's place is beautiful. It's situated in beautiful countryside and the farm itself is huge. We really enjoyed the trip and loved walking around the farm, the woods and down to the private beach area. It was so quiet and relaxing and Olivia and Ed were great hosts who did everything they could to make the trip wonderful. Highly recommend getting a massage on the premises and then dipping into the hot tub! Thanks!

    James2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a very relaxing stay at the barn. A good quiet location with a really great finish to the barn. The hot tub was an added plus! The barn was immaculate when we arrived and Olivia was a great host.

Our period 4 bed family home has a large mature garden and views of the River Tamer towards DEVON. Situated close to Dartmoor, and equal distance to North and South East Cornwall's beaches. The house is located within 400m to the centre of Calstock, a vibrant and beautiful Tamar Valley community. The village is accessible by road, river and rail with connections to Plymouth via the Tamar Valley Railway line. We have off road parking for one vehicle and nearby parking on the road for others.
This is a lived in family home which is being offered for rent whilst we are temporarily away from home. All the paraphernalia of a home is tucked away in cupboards and wardrobes so as not to get in your way and anything personal or precious to us will have been removed. The children will have left toys tidily in their bedrooms and are happy for your children to play with them should they so wish. The house is set over three levels and was built in the mid 1800's. The period property retains many original features whilst the modern extension provides a light and spacious living area. There is one double bedroom (king size bed), one large single (3ft 6" bed), two single bedrooms and three bathrooms set over three levels. The heart of the house is on the lower ground floor with a large kitchen / diner with separate utility leading through to the lounge (with double sofa bed and bifold doors), and garden. The garden is enclosed and private and is terraced over three levels - the deck, the lawn and the wilder mature garden, perfect for children to have a garden adventure! In the lower section of the garden there is a play house and a small pond - completely covered with a wire mesh to keep it safe for smaller people whilst still being able to watch the frogs! Young children should be supervised in the garden. From the upper two floors there are views of the River Tamar. There is one off road parking space at the front of the property.
Calstock is a village in Cornwall within the Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), it stands on the meandering River Tamar and the opposite bank is the Devon border. It is dominated by the spectacular Calstock Viaduct, a giant 11-arched structure that still carries the railway line above the River Tamar along the picturesque branch line down to Plymouth. Calstock has been an important quay for centuries, transporting tin, copper and granite out of this important mining area downstream to Plymouth Docks. Today Calstock is a quiet village with a vibrant arts centre - Calstock Arts, attracting musicians and artists from around The country. The village has two pubs - The Tamar Inn and The Boot, Liche the cafe, an ice cream parlour, a natural health studio, The Lime Kiln Gallery and a working boat yard with the Honnesty Box Coffee Stop. -Family attractions and Outdoor Activities: The Tamar Donkey Park offers something for all the family to enjoy. Located just three miles from Calstock in St Ann's Chapel, Gunnislake, this amusement attraction features donkeys, goats, sheep, rabbits, pigs and guinea pigs that kids can feed and pet. There is also an indoor play area. After all that activity, there is food and refreshments on site and souvenirs available at the Donkey Bazaar. Tamar Trails is a family adventure opportunity in the heart of the valley. It features a canopy trail that has zip lines, Tarzan swings and even a leap of faith. The whole family can also rent mountain bikes and explore 30 kilometres of woodland trails, or try their hand at archery or canoeing on the River Tamar. Roughly a 40 min scenic walk through the wooded valley approximately a mile downstream brings you to Cotehele, a well-preserved medieval National Trust house with glorious gardens sweeping down to the River Tamar. Upstream from Calstock is Morwellham Quay, once another important river port and now a living history tourist attraction where visitors can explore a copper mine by taking a train deep underground, admire the working Victorian farm or just quietly enjoy the beautiful Tamar Valley wildlife. We are also situated approximately a 30min drive from the beautiful Dartmoor National Park. And approximately 40mins from both the North and South Cornish beaches for Surfing and great coastal walks.
