  • A very beautiful place that I highly recommend! The place was very clean and the bedding comfortable. The owners had even turned on the heat just before I arrived. Nail of the stay, I had the right to a magnificent sunrise !!

  • This is a charming cottage, and your hosts Marion and Louis are a delightful couple. We had a lovely stay and would recommend this place to everyone. Marion adds wonderful personal touches like homemade jam! The sun coming up in the morning over the misty inlet was beautiful . If you are looking for a quiet and restful rural experience this is the place to come.

  • This cabin was the perfect winter getaway! We had a great stay. The cabin has everything we could need and has really nice touches. Karen and Jerry are truly kind people. Excellent hosts. Couldn't recommend higher. We would certainly love to come back in the summer.

    Stephen2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at Shore to Sea cottage on Christmas Eve in a snowstorm, and had a wonderful stay! Nova Scotia is not an obvious winter destination, but we appreciated the amazing quiet and the harsh beauty of nature. The cottage was very cozy for reading, and we loved learning more about the life of the lady who had lived there - it made us feel like we were visiting a relative. Karen and Jerry were very welcoming hosts, and so was their gorgeous dog Sampson! In spite of the weather, we were able to spend a significant amount of time outdoors, trail running. The whole area has fantastic trails everywhere, and we saw lots of birds (eagles mostly) and animal tracks in the snow. Highly recommended, we will be back!

  • Our stay at this cottage in lovely Phillips Harbour will always stand out as one of our favorite trips. Karen, Jerry & Kevin went above & beyond to make us feel welcomed, helping us find our way around the beautiful Lost Shores and sharing the fascinating history of the Harbour (Jerry is quite the storyteller, & has a wealth of knowledge about the water & the area he loves so much!). Their cottage was perfect for us: clean, well equipped, perfect deck to relax on while overlooking the Harbour. Peaceful & quiet! Coming back in the summer to do even more outside/water activities. Although just walking the shoreline was enough! Off-season was a great time for us to unwind and recharge, could not have picked a better place or people to do that with. Thanks again for the exceptional stay & the wonderful memories, and particularly your kindness. See you in the summer!

  • Karen and Jerry are very friendly, informative and helpful hosts. Their cottage was perfectly located for our interest in exploring the surrounding areas including Antigonish and Cape Breton. We also enjoyed the fact that it was a bit off the beaten path and offered us some quiet space to relax every evening after our daily explorations and beach walks.

    Karen2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house was a cozy get away. It was exceptionally clean and decorated warmly. It was so wonderful to wake up in the morning, sit out on the porch and look out on the ocean. Karen and Jerry were perfect examples of what we were told Nova Scotians were warm, caring and so very friendly. We are looking forward to returning next year.

    Patricia2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and Jerry’s place is a hidden gem. They have renovated an historic house to make a warm, welcoming space. Quiet, beautiful view, gracious host and hostess. Hope to return for a longer stay some day.

  • Waldhouse is the perfect rustic getaway. Clean and comfortable accommodations with a beautiful view. Fire pits both by the cottage and on the lake give you options. The windowed porch was a delight for the evening time. We will definitely be back! Thank you for this gem Thomas and Ann!

    Heather2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem! It’s a cozy little cottage with an awesome screened in porch area! We spent lots of time just relaxing in the porch, staring into the lake, sun bathing on the couch and listening to loons and geese! Our dogs LOVED the freedom! One learned to open the porch door in no time and constantly wanted to be outside. Having lake access was amazing! We didn’t get to use the canoe but it was available to us! The entire cottage was sparkling clean! And we had everything we needed to cook! I even got to (manually!) grind my own coffee beans and make French press in the mornings! Lots of personal touches in the cottage, for example, there was a large water bottle by the door for tenants to use if they didn’t have their own! I thought it was very thoughtful! Décors are cozy and artsy! The area is so quiet! Great for book readings and just to unplug! The closest little town (Canso) is about 10 mins drive away. There is a grocery store and a liquor store! Guysborough is about 30min drive with a bit more shopping, some cafes/restaurants, a bank and a hospital. I really wished we could have stayed longer but our stay had to be cut short due to hurricane Dorian. We cannot wait to be back! Thank you Thomas and Anne for everything!

    Juliette2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Thomas and Anne were fantastic hosts. The cottage was delightfully clean then we arrived, easy self-checkin and they had all the amenities we could have needed. Beautiful private lot on the lake, large yard space to play catch, cozy space full of windows.

    Amanda2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • A cabin full of rustic charm, pleasant views, and relaxing days. We stayed five nights looking to unplug from our usual grind, and that's what we found. Very clean and quite comfortable. A nice place to unwind for a few days!

    Shane2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very beautiful spot, it was also very clean!

    Sarah2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wow - can’t say enough great things about this space. If you’re looking to get outside and explore this is the place to do it. Close to trails at Tor Bay, Black Duck Cove, and Canso, we couldn’t wait to get back to the cabin each day and sit on the porch or by the lake. The bird watching at the cabin was spectacular and the definition of peaceful. Inside had everything we needed to cook every meal and feel at home. The closed in porch was perfect for chilly days. Thomas had great recommendations for stunning sunsets. I love remote areas (so make sure you know what you’re getting into) and we could have stayed here forever.

    Kathleen2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this place: incredibly charming and rustic and private, with gorgeous views of a private lake (only a 3 minute walk to get there - with a little kayak available to take you around). Kitchen was all functional, bathroom and bedroom were all lovely, and the enclosed porch with a dining table was an added bonus. You're easy access to the liquor/wine store, bank and market in Canso, and only a 15 minute drive to Guysborough and their better market and cafes. This is a great stop after having a Cape Breton adventure, or if you want a place to get away and read/write. Soulful and unique, I loved it.

Overlooking the Petit de Grat Harbour, this 200 yr old Acadian home maintains it’s rustic charm taking you back to simpler times, with a modern twist. Less then 20 min fr the 104, experience what an island off C.Breton island has to offer. Fish off the wharf (fishing rods on site!), clam dig ,kayak (use ours!); you won’t be disappointed with this once in a lifetime experience. Includes internet, BBQ ,washer & dryer, linens and most condiments!
This home, once belonging to my grand mother , overlooks the Petit de Grat Harbour. One bedroom is located on the main floor with 3 bedrooms located on the top floor. Sleeps 8 (plus 1 as we can provide cot upon request) :one queen, two double , 2 single beds. Walk to the library. Fish off the wharf. Enjoy the view. Read a book. Relax. This is a very rustic traditional Acadian home, with many items , paintings and trinkets that once belonged to my grand mother. Other then the leather sofas and internet, there is nothing modern about our cottage. The floors are a combination of tiles and linoleum. The bathroom is pink! The towels are great but don’t match. However, as others have, you’ll no doubt find lots of hidden charm, memories, and things that possibly remind you of your own grand parents! And the view is priceless. We hope you enjoy the home as much as we do!
Nestled around other fishing homes with a view like no other. Direct access to the wharf and shoreline.

  • Shelley and Julian's place was great. It was in a beautiful location and nice and cozy. They were also wonderfully accommodating and quick to respond!

    Elizabeth2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • They are super hosts for a reason. The house contained everything you could ask for, it was clean and very comfortable. It's an older house with lots of character, the area is beautiful from sunset to sunrise. The dock is a beautiful spot to sit on and have a drink while you watch the sunset. Pondville beach is a nice walk and is only 5 minutes away Clearly they care about the property because it looks like they have updated a few things, painted, new roof. It's incredible to see a house that's over 100 years old, in such good condition. It's like visit the past when you enter.

A group of us stayed the night after a whole day of exploring the Cabot Trail and it was great to arrive at Daphne’s to find the lights and heating on, as well as some baked goods in the kitchen! We all wished we could have stayed longer. It was the perfect place to end our trip.

  • This is a lovely house with all the necessary amenities, wifi, tv, microwave, lovely views from all the window, and the bed is so comfortable and warm. Daphne was very easy to communicate with, got back to us promptly, and had all sorts of good suggestions for us. The house is clean and clear of clutter, so easy to make yourself at home in! The beautiful sandy beach is only a 5 minute walk and it was fabulous. There are lots of beautiful places to visit within a very short drive, and one of the absolute gems is the Groundswell Pub, in D'escosse. it is an absolute must! the owner and his wife are total Beatles' fans .... and so engaging. the food is awesome, i had the house salad with the best balsamic dressing i've ever had! And it is only 8 minutes away. I highly recommend Laura's Landing as a beautiful place to hang out while you explore Isle Madame. We came from just outside Baddeck, so less than a 2 hour drive, and we will be back for sure!

We had never stayed at an air bnb before and our first experience was fantastic. Fresh scones were waiting for us when we arrived and the house was SPOTLESS!! We stayed there during a hurricane and I have to say the house is SOLID!! I have already told Daphne that we hope to visit Nova Scotia again soon and would love to stay at Laura’s Landing!!! I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone!!!

  • Kara and Phillips Beach house is a magical oasis. The beach house is absolutely stunning inside and out. The view of the water and the magical surroundings are something you have to experience, rather than talk about. We couldn’t be happier. Can’t wait to book next summer! Thank you both so much for making our weekend unforgettable and for your beautiful finishing touches. The flowers, the chocolate, the drinks and treats. They went out of their way. Thanks Again!

    Dawn2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage and beautiful location!!! Cottage very cozy and comfortable- Kara made us feel very welcome. Wonderful porch for relaxing and enjoying the ocean sites, including eagles and a lighthouse! Quiet wooded lot created peaceful feeling that we all enjoyed. Loved walking along the shore and our dogs loved playing in the water. Perfect vacation!

    Anne2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • As much the quality of the chalet and its equipment as the site where it is deserves a big 10/10! Great place to pick up, lots of space for kids. Fishing and meeting the people of the village on the dock are really nice!

    Joel2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage on the water, isolated and quiet. Check in was a breeze and hosts communicated quickly and efficiently throughout the stay. So much to see and do as well as some really nice outdoor spots to relax at the cottage itself. Lots of little extra touches made it a really special stay, felt just like staying at a resort! Would highly recommend!

    Dallas2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This beach house was truly an amazing experience for our family. It is absolutely beautiful with an even better sunset view. Kara & Philip have made this place a home away from home and provided everything you would ever need. The extra special touches for our family upon arrival set this Airbnb from all of the rest we have seen. The guys at the wharf were eager to assist with fishing tips, how to catch squid and all kinds of info on lobsters, seals and the east coast lifestyle.

  • Beautiful rustic cabin on a spectacular private lake. Peaceful and comfortable. Everything you need here to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. My husband and our daughter particularly loved the kayaks. I enjoyed reading my book with a glass of red wine in front of the wood burning stove, listening to the wind and rain whistling around the cabin. So cozy. A thanksgiving weekend we will never forget!! Thank you

  • Absolutely beautiful! Had an amazing weekend here

    Channing2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Hayden Lake was absolutely lovely! It was the perfect space for relaxing after a week of driving and sight seeing and to recharge for the second week. The cabin is just beautiful and the location, spectacular! We just could not leave after only one full day so we had the opportunity to extend for one more. Anne and Thomas are exceptional hosts!! I would absolutely book this cabin again and suggest Hayden Lake to anyone who asks about places to stay while experiencing Nova Scotia. Thanks so much!

    Allison2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome location, the lodge itself is very comfortable. We had an awesome weekend, would definitely recommend.

  • This is a fantastic place! A log cabin on a private lake. The best thing were the kayaks which we loved taking out on the lake. It's a quiet and beautiful corner of NS with nice beaches and trails. The cabin is lovely, perfect for our family of five. Our hosts were excellent on the comms.

  • Beautiful spot overlooking the water! Sparkling clean space :).

    Irene2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful spot! This has to be the greatest vantage point on this side of the island (maybe the best period). The place was squeaky clean and though updated with all things modern, Kristina and Ricky took care to maintain a rustic feel. The unit is especially well equipped with things in the fridge that go well beyond what you might expect at any Air BnB. We were on the island for a funeral and Kristina went out of her way to accommodate. The special gift left for guests shows a special and personal touch. Beyond all this it was great value for the money!

  • This is a nice little cottage at the lake. James was a very responsive host. I can only recommend staying there

    Kathrin2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place is very quaint, and is a nice location on the water. James was very accommodating and personable. The accomodations had everything you needed. Only comment I'd like to make, is the space is very small. "Larger sized bodies" may have difficulty with the surroundings. The steps to the bedroom are very steep and tiny, and would be hazardous to people with weight/ balance issues. The bedroom is very small and cramped, again making it difficult for larger guests. Art work, and decor were very enjoyable. Beautiful collection of books and music. Too chilly when we were there for an outdoor campfire, but a beautiful ,private location to gather around the firepit. Loved all the special touches in the cottage. Thank you, James!

    Terri2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Private, on the water, great touches!

    Vicki2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nice area and quaint little cottage. James was quick to respond to our questions and provided some nice little extras.

    Joyce2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We loved James' cozy cottage on the Isle of Madame. His place had everything we wanted. We loved the canoe and outdoor fire pit, awesome dvd collection, great washer and dryer, and perfect location to start our journey around the Cabbot Trail.

    Marley2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • James has one of the best little cottages in the area. It’s perfect for a couple or small family, the location is right on the water. A great place to relax and close enough to the Cabot trail if you wanted to explore. James was very thoughtful with lots of tips and little touches. 100% recommend for anyone coming to unplug for a few days. Look forward to our next visit :)

    Cassandra2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Blown away! Being hosted in the cottage was purely location based as our primary reason for our stay was for a wedding. I promise you there is more available here then just the nights stay. Our total 3 night stay ended up taking place during the weekend Hurricane Dorian touched down. Despite the power and water being shut off this luckily didnt take place until the second night, so we did have time to gather some emergency items and easily ready foods that wouldn't spoil at the local grocer which is a fair 10 min drive from the property. The BBQ was supplied with the propane, and the fire pit had ample wood. And yes, you are right on the ocean. It is steps away. The best part about the ocean front was enjoying the bended beach once the waters had calmed. Easily my favourite place for my morning coffee. If the weather didn't unfold like it had I know I could have casually taken the kayak out. The bathroom is very very nice, and the outside shower feature also would help keep sandy messes outside. Despite the hardships that came about due to the weather, we were safe. The water levels didnt rise to alarming heights, and was easy to monitor based on the well planned steps available to the beach. The wine and gramophone brought cozy likeness to our candle lite stay. Will. Be. Back.

    Stephanie2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cozy little cottage with absolutely everything you need. Nothing was missed and we never once found ourselves saying, "I wish it had this, or wouldn't it be nice if it had that." Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards were conveniently located in the back yard and the water was calm and warm for swimming. We were a group ages 12 - 65 and we all enjoyed our stay. James was prompt with replies and offered suggestions and tips for local hot spots. This cottage is extremely well taken care of and we will definitely visit again!

The Sailor`s Rest House is located on the beautiful Isle Madame, the French Acadian heart of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia (Canada`s Eastern Shore). The ocean could not be closer, smell, hear, taste the saltwater.
Our lovely old fisherman’s house sits on the rocks at the end of the quaint fishing village of Samson’s Cove next to Little Anse and is surrounded by the ocean. Here your can enjoy a stunning and endless view in any direction. Originally built by the first settlers in the mid-1800’s, Sailors’s Rest has recently been fully renovated and now offers comfortable rooms equipped with bright furniture and handcrafted driftwood beach art. Here you can enjoy two cozy rooms with twin beds on the first floor or watch the sunset from an extendable queen size bed with memory foam mattress in the living room on the the ground floor.
Sampson Cove is nestled in the francophone fishing village of predominately French-speaking Petit-de-Grat, offering Acadian heritage, artistic, musical and community cultural events. The village of Petie-de-Grat  holds its annual Festival Acadien. A nine-mile long hiking trail leads from the edge of the community around the coast to Heath Head and Cap Rouge, to several beaches, ponds and coves and provides a fine view of off-shore Green Island Lighthouse.
  • The Sailor’s Rest is in a most beautiful spot on the Cape Breton coast and Isle Madame offers wonderful walks and endless opportunities for exploring its rugged beauty, if you can tear yourself away from the porch. Robert is a wonderful host who told us about great places around the island. We’ll definitely be back!

    Frank2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sailor’s Rest is a one-of-a-kind piece of paradise. We spent about a month this winter looking for a house on the open ocean in Nova Scotia for our summer vacation and Sailor’s Rest fulfilled our dream. The house is mere feet from the ocean, with uninterrupted views of the ocean, the cove and marine wildlife. It was incredible to settle in at this house to relax and unwind for two weeks. It is a well-furnished and comfortable house with an excellent king-sized bed (the only house with one on the ocean in Nova Scotia/Cape Breton that we could find!). It was great to have a fully functional and stocked kitchen to cook in, along with a brand-new washer and dryer for laundry mid-trip. We spent hours on the front porch watching the ocean, reading and relaxing under the handy outdoor umbrella. When the weather didn’t permit this, we were able to cosy up on the huge couch to watch the storms through the big front window, which was just as lovely. This house is perfect for a couple, as we felt that we had tons of room to really make our own during our stay. It is true that people over about 5’9’’ will have to watch their heads in the doorways, but it is worthy trade-off for the gorgeous location. As another reviewer pointed out, yes, there are quite a few house “rules”, but they aren’t as daunting as they seem and are there to ensure this beautiful historic house continues to be in great shape for many years to come. It is important to understand that this place has some quirks, but this is part of staying in such a unique location and house! Robert and Monika are fantastic hosts and were available to help out with any questions we had, or to make suggestions about various activities in the area. We cannot recommend this place highly enough to anyone looking for the ultimate getaway.

    Melissa2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a wonderful experience staying at Robert's Sailor's Rest. It's a small cottage off the beaten path and overlooks Samson's Cove. Great for privacy or a quiet retreat. The hosts were very welcoming and patiently answered all our questions about the area. Full functioning kitchen (important to our group of four adults) and very comfortable eating in or out on the deck that overlooks the ocean. For those who are over 6 feet tall, take note of low doorways/beams throughout. The rules list, as we suspected, is not as daunting as it seems - the hosts clearly care about their space and want to keep it looking nice. We would return in a heartbeat!

    Nate2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed in over 40 AirBnBs now globally, and I must say, that Robert's home in Sampson Cove is close to the best. Such a gorgeous location overlooking the waves lapping at the shore, and I could stare out over their back lawn at the sunrise/sunsets all day. Robert communicated often and got us prepped for the visit. You'll enjoy exploring the island, plenty of options for kayaking, some fun local eateries, and great walks around the area. Very highly recommend.

The apartment was perfectly clean and well appointed and our host Anna went out of the way to make sure every need was met. We HIGHLY recommend this spot; you will enjoy checking amazing ocean views and nature at its best in short drives around the islands.

  • There is something uniquely rejuvenating about being on a beautiful island in a cozy space surrounded by a garden. We stayed two nights and explored the island, had fresh lobster, and relaxed. The space was just what we needed. We were able to prepare our own meals, take a hot shower after jumping into the very cold ocean, and chill on the couch. The bed we used was very comfortable. Anna was very friendly, easy to communicate with, and gave us some local tips. Would definitely recommend to other guests!

  • The charm of a mill house from the 1900’s, hardwood floors, sloped roofs, period furniture. But the beach, make sure you head down the road, it’s worth the jaunt. Sandy, waves coming in, seashells to search for. Would love to be here in the summer! Came for the fall colours.

    Joanne2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret's place was beautiful, clean, and homey. She made us feel very welcome and when the power went out due to a hurricaine she offered us coffee from her home next door. Amazing host and amazing house, would definitely reccomend!

  • My pup and I thoroughly enjoyed the Millhouse! It’s a beautiful, charming and quaint home filled with old books that have vintage newspaper clippings and pressed flowers betwixt their pages. So close to a beautiful, quiet little beach! My dog was in heaven exploring the woods and the brush surrounding the property. If you have a dog with good recall, this will be a paradise for them! Kitchen is equipped with the essential tools, I brought my own olive oil and spices for which I was happy to have done so. I had a lovely time and was very happy to have met Margaret who even showed me her wild blueberry bushes and offered suggestions on where to find beautiful sunsets!

  • We spent four nights at the Mill House. The house was very clean and well equipped. Margaret is a very nice host who was willing to make our stay enjoyable and suggested us places to visit. The house is well located close to a great beach. The area is very peaceful. I would definitely recommend Margaret and the Mill house for a country style holidays.

  • The Mill House is a lovely home on a quiet road only a few minutes from a beautiful beach. If you're looking to relax, unplug and get away, this is definitely a place for that. And Margaret is a very friendly and helpful host.

  • We stayed one night. The location is great, the view is specracular. RV is very nice. It was a rainy day and we felt cozy and comdortable. We brought with us drinkable water since the hosts let us know that they didnt have a chance to fix the problem with the tap water yet. We appreciated honesty. It was not a big deal. We used our water for cooking and drinking. We would love to go back. Also the communication was great! Highly recommend.

  • Comfortable trailer and very nice view

    Tom2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful spot overlooks the harbour, and is a perfect location to enjoy a morning coffee while watching the eagles soar above the trees. I was in “awe” at the views! The camper feels more like a cosy condo than an RV, with all the amenities you could possibly need, and then some! Julian and Shelley prepared us with information on nearby spots for good eats and hiking trails. Their hospitality went above and beyond when they let us stay up in the house on property during the backlash of Hurricane Dorian. This is definitely a place worth checking out!

    Kirstyn2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This trailer was immaculate, perfectly priced and such a wonderful spot, Shelley and Julian were very accommodating and lovely people to speak with. Will 100% stay again!

  • Shelley and Julian’s trailer was perfect! Great location(right on the water), was pristinely clean, and had everything we needed and more! The wifi worked really well, there was an outdoor fire pit and kayaks available. Was a great spot!!!

  • We had a great stay, house has all the essentials, very clean, beautifully decorated, fully stocked kitchen. We were a family of 5 and had enough space for all. Thank you!

    Theo2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jennie and Guy's home is exactly as described. A beautiful home in a beautiful, quiet location. The house was sparkling clean and filled with so many thoughtful touches that made our stay so enjoyable. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked with everything from dishes to utensils and pots/pans. We've stayed in a few airbnb places before but never had a kitchen so well stocked! It was incredible! And our parents loved the added touch of having home made slippers provided to use over their socks. After a cold, windy day exploring the Cabot Trail, we came "home" to Jennie and Guy's house, put slippers on and quickly got warm again. Thanks for everything, Jennie and Guy! I highly recommend this home for all who want a beautiful place to stay.

  • Great place, great location in the heart of Acadians. We loved the house, the people, the ocean, the kayaks and paddle board. The house was clean, it had everything we needed for the kids to be happy with toys and books. The kitchen was well stocked and had all we needed. Thanks Jennie for a great stay.

    Melina Sarah2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Jennie’s place. They were always there to answer our needs or questions and give us tips about the surroundings. Everything is there, just as it was your house. I’m used to bring a couple things (my big pan, chef knife, etc) because i’m a little picky when preparing meals but this time it all stayed in the trunk.

    Hugo2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our host was amazing and allowed us to check in early as well as offer to allow us to use their kayak. We loved the area and the people in this town were so pleasant and helpful. She also accommodated our small children with some kids toys that she had.

  • Jenny's place was an ideal place to visit Isle Madame. Waking up with on the water, with the Sun coming in through the large windows, makes for the perfect morning. They provided everything required for an enjoyable stay ... The pictures don't do it justice, and it was a pleasant surprise ...

  • Beautiful place. We didn't have stations on the TV or internet but honestly didn't miss it. It's in a great location, close to beaches, restaurants and bars but in a quiet, peaceful location. The new deck is amazing, with the nicest sunrise and sunsets overlooking a cove of blue herons as well as other wildlife. (deer, fox and fish!) Very nice bedrooms and lots of space for entertaining. Will definitely book again for next years vacation.

    Lisa2018-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny's place was just like a home away from home. We had a fantastic time watching all the birds and wildlife while we enjoyed a morning coffee on the deck. Our host provided a very clean and welcoming spot to spend a couple days relaxing...like a vacation from our vacation.

    Kathy2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for an amazing little spot for a getaway, this is it. Perfect for fishing, canoeing and birdwatching. The cottage was spotless and was more like a home than a weekend cottage. Jenny and Roger deserve more than 5 stars for this spot.

We're home and have rooms in our century farmhouse located on 100 acres of field, forest, garden and, although you can't see it, you can hear and smell the Atlantic ocean less than a 1000m away. The house isn't exactly magazine worthy but it's cozy, clean and comfortable. You won't be afraid to use the shower even if it has blue patterned tile board! Bruce and Fynn, our friendly yellow Labradors join us in welcoming you. Also, see our twin bedroom: https://airbnb.com/h/fromawayfarmdoublebedroom
We are from away. We both relocated from Ontario before we met and so together we have lots of family and friends that visit. They think it's great here, so even if it's a little rough around the edges, we like to share our empty rooms with others. The house and property is a labour of love for us but we understand that bare plywood floors and ongoing drywall repairs aren't for everyone. We like to think that what we lack in polish, we make up for in hospitality.
For an authentic Isle Madame experience we can arrange many seasonal activities for an additional fee. Ask about lobster fishing, clam digging, mussel picking, a beach boil, learning to cook seafood, guided tours or our packed picnic lunches. Year round you can visit an organic garden oasis built on rock at Pebble and Fern Market Garden, there are a couple of lighthouses on the island, excellent seafood chowder at the Arichat Fish Market and the best coffee across the street at La Goelette a Pepe cafe with V Pottery located next door. Seasonally we recommend the nearby pub, The Groundswell with hosts Colleen and Matt, you can also get adventure advice from them and rent SUP/kayak/surf/bikes. By appointment we can arrange a visit to our favourite potter Gina at The White Turtle where you can also see their off-grid strawbale house and permaculture gardens. We have experience hosting small retreats that could include small game or forest cook by fire experiences, yoga, workshops of natural crafting or making raw dairy products. Let us know what you're looking for and we'll craft an experience tailored to you.

  • This place has everything you’d need for a relaxing, private, and comfortable get-away. It’s a surprisingly large space with two bedrooms at opposite ends of the house and great common areas in between. There’s a fully stocked kitchen and laundry facilities as well. It was decorated for the holidays (Christmas tree and all!) - we really appreciated that extra touch being there over Christmas. The view from the front is just beautiful, overlooking the water. The lockbox made check-in and out very easy and the host was helpful and responsive to messages. We’d stay again!
