Historic Site
“Originally the site of a Greek acropolis, then an Arab-Norman citadel, Milazzo's enormous castle was built by Frederick II in 1239, expanded by Charles V of Aragon and stormed by Garibaldi's troops in 1860. The whole of Milazzo once fitted within its massive walls. Nowadays it's a lovely site to clamber around, full of flowers and crumbling fortifications, with dreamy views of the bay and the Aeolians from atop the Torre Normanna, the castle's oldest and highest part. Late in the evening the area offers live music, restaurants and pubs. Must to go!”

Park
“After a short drive and a long walk you come to a natural pool formed between dramatic rocks. It is not an area for swimming, but it is a lovely wading pool...more on Mondosol”

“If you have a car, don't miss the scenic drive north along Strada Panoramica to see the gorgeous, rugged coastline of Capo Milazzo. At the end of the isthmus is a lighthouse; park in the nearby lot, from where short walks lead to the Santuario Rupestre di San Antonio da Padova and the Piscina di Venere.”

Harbour / Marina
“Milazzo is a ferry port from where you can reach the glorious volcanic Aeolian Islands just off the northern coast of Sicily. You can reach Milazzo by train fro Cefalù or easily by car - a great, fast drive along the autostrada passing through many very long tunnels. On the islands, you can climb an active volcano, bathe in the mineral-rich mud baths (take an OLD swimsuit!), enjoy spa treatments at the deluxe hotels, swim and snorkel in pristine waters, enjoy fresh seafood and wander through narrow lanes between white-washed traditional houses. If you plan to stay the night (or more) make sure you take the night boat trip to see Stromboli erupting with lava - a guaranteed great night out!”
