  • A wonderful house, for the perfect getaway for our family get together. The house has everything you could possibly need, very clean and the most beautiful views. We cooked in every evening, the kitchen is so well appointed that it was the best option with young children in the group. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and hope to be back again ourselves one day soon.

  • The Bay side cottage was a very relaxing and comfortable place to stay, with absolutely spectacular views of the bay and surrounding countryside. A spacious kitchen with a gas stove where we enjoyed cooking meals and talking into the evening. Bedrooms were large and each with their own adjoining bathroom made it very nice for our family. Large deck where we could do yoga in the morning. Eva provided useful local information and answered all of our questions quickly. We will stay here again when in Connemara for sure!

  • Our family (incl. two children aged 9 and 6) spent a pleasant time in this lovely country house. The house is very well located, very charming and well equipped. The house is really well-designed and lets in lots of natural light. It is furnished with care and the kitchen was very convenient. We soaked up the view, which was lovely. Just a wonderful spot if you want to get away from it all.

  • Stunning accommodation in a beautiful location. Fantastic panoramic views from the house and deck overlooking the bay. Quiet, relaxing and restorative for the soul. Ideally suited for those wanting a break from the digital world. Throughly appreciated the comfortable beds and great showers! Happy to recommend.

  • We had an awesome time at Eva’s cottage. The surrounding area is stunning and the views from the house and the accompanying deck could not be more beautiful. We found that we had a real digital detox, read loads and really just unwound and soaked in the Connemara lifestyle and fresh air. The house is very well equipped with comfy beds, good showers and plenty of room with all the required comforts. You couldn’t go wrong just hanging out here or using as a base to explore the rugged and breathtaking countryside. We’re smitten with this house and the local area around and are already talking about going back.

    Brandon2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous time - we were a family group of three generations and everyone enjoyed their stay in this fantastic house. The views from the expansive windows and deck are just stunning. We all loved watching the wildlife and had a BBQ one of the evenings. The place is spotless and all the bed linen and beds are crisp and clean. We would thoroughly recommend staying here!

  • It's a marvellous cottage well located with an amazing view on the sea. The cottage is very confortable, welcoming and you feel very quiet and peaceful inside. Thanks a lot to Eva for this place that made a really perfect trip in Connemara.

  • The view, the view, the view! You could sit and watch the light changing in the bay all day. Gorgeous house, lots of space and very tastefully decorated. We had a great stay, 2 adults, 2 kids and our Labrador. Very comfortable, well equipped and ideal for exploring Connemara. Thanks Eva!

  • We were perfectly welcomed during our night at Miriam's. The house is very spacious and we were able to access the kitchen without problems. The room was large and Miriam had provided a heated draw sheet and an additional blanket as it was not hot in Connemara at that time. We were able to taste an excellent Irish breakfast facing the bay, an unforgettable moment! Thank you Miriam

    Stéphane2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful view of the sea, Miriam is very welcoming

    Clotilde2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice stay at Miriam's. The whole family was attentive and considerate, especially with our baby. Special mention for breakfast!

    Stéphanie2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • A very warm welcome, spacious and pleasantly decorated room, a particularly delicious Irish breakfast and an extraordinary view of the bay. Perfect !

    Christian2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The arrival on the premises is a little disconcerting because the outside is not maintained, so do not choose this place for the house itself. On the other hand the room is big, and pleasant, with its bathroom. And especially Miriam is a very friendly host, who has the sense of hospitality. She really wants you to feel good, and she also gives good advice on places to visit

    Sylvain2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Miriam's house is perfect for a stay next to Connemara. She is a very caretaking host and prepared a lovely breakfast. The view from the house is just breathtaking. The room and also your bathroom is really clean and nice. I would love to come back!

    Isolde2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • I spent 6 nights in this b & b, and enjoyed every minute. Bernard and Miriam with their daughter Erin, are wonderful hosts. They treated me very well and treated me as one of their friends. They invited me to drink tea with them, an evening to discuss in front of, and even for a meal! They always helped me to prepare my excursions taking into account my desires. Their house is great, the view from the living room is superb. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable and the bathroom very well equipped. I very much enjoyed the breakfast that Miriam prepared for me every morning: Irish full (with eggs, bacon, sausages, fruit etc) or, on request, an excellent porridge. There are many excursions possible in the area. I enjoyed the hikes of the little Vaughan's booklet, which I recommend. By cons, a car is necessary: Roundstone is 15 minutes by car. I have already seen many Airbnb, but this one was by far the best! Thank you, Bernard, Miriam and Erin!

    Bernard2019-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet place, close to all points of attraction in County Galway, a great welcome. Fabulous decor, extra bedding, a fabulous and hearty Irish breakfast. In short it's the place to be to visit connemara! Do not hesitate to seek advice for a walk, to share a cup of tea with this friendly family, these are beautiful moments assured.

Welcome to Foxglove Homestead. We offer an exciting form of accommodation. Here you'll stay in a Tiny House in the beautiful heart of Connemara, County Galway. Do you enjoy a different way of holidaying? Do you like to be immersed in the Irish wilderness with no other sounds than grazing sheep, a bee flying by or some playing children in the background? Then our Tiny House might be for you. It offers a comfortable place to stay with the best views in Connemara.
The tiny house sleeps two adults in a double bed that is located in the loft that you access via a ladder. You’ll have a great overview of the landscape from your ‘bedroom’ window. The house has a fully kitted kitchen with an induction cooker, oven, microwave and fridge. The bathroom has a toilet, sink and luxurious rain shower. The Tiny House is situated on the grounds next to the cottage we live in. Guests have access to the fifteen acres of the homestead that run down to a lake that is perfectly suitable for swimming and fishing. The allotment is also free to visit. And who knows there might be something for you to harvest and enjoy at dinner time. From Foxglove Homestead it is just 15 minutes drive to beautiful Roundstone with its amazing beaches, 15 minutes drive to Kylemore Abbey, Connemara National Park and 20 minutes drive to Clifden and all it has to offer. * We’ve only just started opening our Tiny House for guests. Therefore don’t expect fully landscaped gardens and paths. The grounds are still a work in progress. The Tiny House and grounds are probably not very suitable for people with disabilities. Nevertheless we are excited to share this incredible beautiful place with anyone who is up for it.
  • Anne's place was amazing - wish we could have stayed longer. The tiny house has everything you could possibly need and gorgeous touches like fresh eggs and bread (delicious!). We stayed over New Years and were expecting it to be cold, but there's a really efficient heater and super cosy bed, and if you bring slippers or thick socks you'll be toasty. The scenery is amazing and we loved how quiet it was - the bench and swing outside are perfect to sit on in the morning with a cup of coffee and take in the view. Absolutely perfect stay if you want to get away from it all. Thank you so much Anne!

    Pippa2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in Anne’s tiny home in Connemara, the freshly baked bread was a delightful welcome. The surroundings of the tiny house are perfect to chill out and it makes for a great base to explore the surrounding area

  • This was by far my favorite Airbnb ever booked. Anne and Tom are outstanding hosts. The locations is absolutely incredible. We were greeted by smiles, hospitality, fresh bread, homemade jam and eggs. Anne and Tom go to great lengths to ensure your stay is a lovely one. If you are reading reviews to book this tiny home, stop reading and book now!

  • I have just spent two calm and relaxing days in Anne's little house. I loved every minute of it to the point I had to force myself out of the house to do some sightseeing. I arrived in the dark after a 4 hour drive in the dark and rain to a warm house with freshly baked bread and fresh eggs. And the view is breathtaking. I will be back. Soon.

    Malene2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Although we didn’t get the chance to meet Anne and Tom, their warm welcome and hospitality was definitely felt during our stay. Anne left us a delicious homemade loaf of bread to enjoy, which was just the sweetest gesture. The tiny house was the perfect getaway—we already have friends asking where we stayed after seeing pictures of the views! We will definitely be recommending this place to others.

    Sarah2019-10-20T00:00:00Z

  • Kathleen is absolutely lovely, a wonderful host! She gave us lots of tips on the area and where to look for things, and offered to ask around to see if anyone with my last name was a cousin! She baked fresh wheaten bread and scones for breakfast, made lovely tea for us, and overall the whole breakfast she set out was delicious! This is a great place to stay if you want a quiet farm holiday. It's close enough to the sights of Connemara that you can get there easily, but you are in the middle of beautiful Irish countryside and very close to the sea. There are beautiful views of the Twelve Bens, and Kathleen will show you where they cut peat and many other farm-related things. There are three lovely outside dogs and her brother, who farms next door, also has a gorgeous sheepdog puppy who is super lovely if you want to pet him. The rooms are exactly as they appear in the pictures, and everything is sparkling clean and works just as it should. This is one of the nicest, if not the nicest, AirBnbs I've ever stayed at!

One of the former residents of Ballynahinch Castle was Richard Martin (Humanity Dick 1754-1834), founder of the Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Member of Parliament for County Galway. Another owner was the Maharaja Jam Sahib of Nawanager ('Ranji'). Ranji decided to purchase the house, estate and its salmon and sea-trout fisheries from the Berridge Family in 1924. • A lovely and excellent value house in easy reach of both Galway and the Connemara National Park - there was plenty of space for nine adults - and the hosts left a bottle of fizz for us to celebrate the New Year with! Couldn't have asked for better.

    Kate2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious and clean space great for our family of 5! Local shops for woolen gifts and food staples less than a 5 minute drive away - also a pub with local music nightly. Connemara National Park is an easy drive and worthwhile to spend the day there hiking. Having a fire place and large kitchen for sharing meals was especially nice.

  • Booked this property for a family wedding down the road at Cashel House Hotel for two nights. Suited us perfectly as there were 9 family members staying in the house and the location was good for us. Ann left a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge for us with a nice note and her husband Michael called in one evening to make sure we knew how to work the hot water and showers.

  • We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Cill Cottage in August. The cottage was very well equipped and stunningly located with amazing views in all directions. With pristine beaches and misty mountains all within view and a short drive away we couldn't fit in all we wanted to see and do in the area and wanted to stay longer. Geraldine was very welcoming and most helpful with suggestions about what to do and where to eat. Whilst the cottage is on an island it is connected to the mainland by a bridge, a short distance from the village of roundstone. There is a lovely loop walk to do on the island itself.

This is a most wonderful bright cottage on farmland yet 300m across fields to the sea. It is very peaceful and tranquil on this small quiet road-cul de sac. It is very remote so ideal for you if you wish to break away and enjoy having animals nearby.
For a cottage this home extraordinarily has 4 bedrooms;2 doubles + a twin available for you all. The sitting room t doubles up as a Yoga studio where I teach occasionally. The kitchen/living room has a lovely stone fireplace. It ia a very bright an airy house. Being very close to nature it does get dusty and can develop cobwebs overnight. The open fireplace is delightful to rest by. Tap water is fresh from the mountain although it is recommended to gather fresh drinking water from a well 300 metres away. If all of this sense of embracing natural living excites you then this is ideal for you.If it is all mod cons you would prefer and a more glossy environment with'push-button' convenience then I would suggest not. It does take a couple of days to settle in and find yourself feeling 'at home. It is an ideal place from which to your Connemara North and South.I do suggest/request a minimum stay of 3 nights.
Small farming community in an idyllic setting... Take the trek south along the road and around the headland to "The Watcher's House" Johnny 'O Loughlin's is an interesting pub in the village with a charming host Colm. You will find that people here are very friendly and have time for you

  • Excellent stay! A rustic and authentic little house. Splendid view, superb surrounding walks. We were greeted by Winnie: super nice and kind. Dog friends, you will be delighted by Chase and his friends. Ideal accommodation for nature lovers. We visited Connemara from this accommodation (by car).

  • Small cottage perfect and very well located to discover the beautiful region of Connemara. Very quiet place, splendid view, possible walks without taking the car. Special thanks to Winnie and her husband, the neighbors, who welcomed us with great kindness and availability. Thank you Kenneth!

    Valérie2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Ken's place was great! It was in a very quiet area, and there was a lot to do and see. My family loved our visit!

    Eric2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • It's really a magical place. Perfect for discovering Connemara authentically, whether on foot or by car (or motorbike for us). Kenneth's home is warm, clean and well equipped, the hot shower is a big plus after a day in the rain. Cooking a beef stew by a late afternoon under an Irish sky and tasting it near the fire makes you want to stay even longer. Dogs, cat, donkeys, roosters and chickens came to see us regularly for our greatest pleasure. The ballads with the dogs are a pure happiness. We did not have the pleasure of seeing Kenneth but Winnie, the neighbor, is a combination of both the kindness and the legendary hospitality of the Irish. Thanks to Kenneth and Winnie for letting us believe we are Irish for a short week too fast. We can not wait to return. Nathalie and Patrick

    Nathalie2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • A place to go if you love silence, peace, Nature, the sea, ... Very warm cosey place! Absolutely worth to go and to stay a longer period to relax , walk, enjoy, enjoy and enjoy!

    Anne2018-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The week is very well spent. The house was simple and suitable (as at home). Winnie, the neighbor, is very busy with us. We are very happy with our stay.

    Didier2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This house is lost in a marvellous heaven. As soon as you arrived, you are feeling relaxed and comfy. Even if it's not a luxury cottage full of extras stuff, it's enough for your journey in paradise. Kenneth is a lovely man that gives you advices, tips and anything you need to feel simply happy. Winnie, the neighbour who welcomed us is a really nice person, full of kindness. Her dogs Cooper, Sam and Chase were our best friends ever for our stay. We cried when we left them. We will be back, we felt love and happiness in this cottage.

HISTORY OF BALLYNAHINCH CASTLE - the setting is superb and its history is colourful Ballynahinch Castle is a former Irish country house and estate, built on the site of a former castle, which is now a luxury hotel set in a private 700-acre (2.8 km2) estate between Recess and Clifden on the R341 in Connemara, Co Galway. The castle lies on the edge of Ballynahinch Lake and Ballynahinch River and is directly overlooked by Ben Lettery 557 metres (1,827 ft), one of the Twelve Bens mountain range. Small castle built on Ballynahinch Lake by Donal O'Flaherty, husband of Grace O'Malley (Grainneuaile) in 1546, after Donal's death Grace took his place as head of the clan. Her life as a pirate is well known and the Pirate Queen is steeped in history and legend. Click on the link to view the Castle history timeline:- https://www.ballynahinch-castle.com/en/about-us/history-timeline In 2019, the castle was listed among the best castle hotel in Ireland . One of Seamus Heaneys, finest poems is 'Ballynahinch Lake' from which the phrase 'captivating brightness' inspired by Ballynahinch and the surrounding landscape and published by the hotel in 2008. Heaney and his wife pause to look at the view of Ben Letterry one of the Twelve Ben mountain range rearing up above the stretch of water beside the hotel 'And the utter mountain mirrored in the lake, Entered us like a wedge knocked sweetly home. Into core timber'. Click on the youtube link to view Seamus Heaney https://youtu.be/5KTBs8RoeEg

  • Lovely little cottage on a quiet island with stunning views in every direction. Very peaceful place for a getaway. Great modern kitchen and bathroom. It would have be nice to have some basic things like salt, pepper, sugar, coffee etc. in the kitchen when we arrived. It would also have been great to have some comfortable chairs to sit on outside and enjoy the lovely garden and beautiful views. But overall a lovely experience.

  • An amazing place to stay, perfectly situated to visit Connemara. Very large and comfortable unit in the Old Manor, great walks on the path around the lake, it’s a quiet place where you don’t want to move. Just sit on the bench and appreciate the moment. I highly recommend.

  • We spent 3 days with the family at the Manor, on the edge of Ballynahinch Lake. The place is very nice and we enjoyed the ride on the lake. It is very quiet and the house is well equipped. Arrival and departure without any problem.

  • Great house where we stayed for three nights. We would have liked to enjoy a little more so the setting is magical, but we also wanted to discover all the wonders of Connemara. The rooms are really very spacious and the views of the rooms on the lake are incredible! Housing heats very fast and on the advice of Theresa, we planned the heating schedule. For three nights and two days, expenses returned to € 26. With 3 bathrooms, no problem to shower! The equipments are of quality. Apart from a dining room a little narrow compared to all the rest of the accommodation, everything is perfect! We highly recommend it.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Caher house and were welcome by Theresa whom was always reachable on the phone if needed - the location is easy to find and in front of a small lake - about 15min from Clifden city which is perfect to plan activities in Connemara area. Count almost one hour though to rallye Galway but honestly Clifden beats it for authenticity and pubs like Lowry's just make it a place to go. The house is huge and over equipped with multiple bath/shower/toilets which is perfect for a stay with multiple couples - but there is a twin room which could be fine for kids. Would definitively recommend and hope to come back in the next years

  • The house was perfect. Super clean. Plenty of room. Lovely a quiet and great scenery. I would definitely recommend to anyone. And would be a pleasure to stay again. Thank you.

  • Had a wonderful time. We loved Connemara and the town of Clifden. In fact we liked the shops in Clifden more than those in Galway. This is an hour from Galway so you have to be okay with driving. The scenery is. beautiful

No.9 is a charming 3 bed apartment set in an historical building right in the heart of Connemara. It is surrounded by Lakes, rivers, mountains and wooded areas and is in a very quiet and peaceful location.
  • Awesome. Lost location on the edge of Ballynahinch lake. Marked walk 2 minutes from the house. Absolute calm but nevertheless some nice neighbors. The house is on three levels but we only occupied two. All the comfort possible, several bathrooms. Cozy living room with fireplace at the top. Recent and comfortable bedding and everything is very very clean! Brid was considerate and responsive, she lives nearby. A hostess at the top! A stay at the top in a sublime region. A remake absolutely! Plus: small morning coffee overlooking the lake ... The address should even be confidential so it's great! ;-)

  • Very good experience with many things to do in the countryside, a quiet house and a very good breakfast.

  • We were at number 8 and not 9 because of a slight reservation problem but it did not change much. The apartment is very well arranged, on three levels (toilets on all levels, 2 showers and 1 bath), well equipped kitchen. For the shops it is about ten kilometers but we take advantage of the countryside. The tour of the lake is nice, among the laurels. A tennis court is available and plenty of equipment for children (indoor and outdoor games). It is a beautiful place, calm. ------- We were at number 8 and not 9 because of a slight reservation problem but it did not change much.
