Places to stay in Central Frontenac
Restored 200+ year old Log Cabin on 200 acre WF farm, with 2000ft WF on spectacular Desert Lake. A natural paradise of true Canadian Shield. One double bed, one King in loft. Full kitchen. 3pc bath(shower) . Very private get-a-way .
DESCRIPTION: It is rare to have private enjoyment of over 200 acres of a waterfront farm with 2,000 feet of spectacular shoreline on pristine Desert Lake. Follow the horse trails through pasture and woods. See trees that have graced this land for hundreds of years unspoilt. This is true Canadian shield country. Bring a compass and a camera. The home is fully equipped for your vacation, four seasons of the year. The home has a sleeping loft with a king size bed and one small main floor bedroom with antique double brass bed. Linens and towels are always cleaned/sterilized off-site after each visit. Open concept kitchen/ dining /cozy living area with a woodstove. The cabin is ideally suited for a couple. However, 4 people- (two couples) can be easily accommodated. Wood is provided free of charge. Extensive rear decking for outside dining in warmer weather plus a wrap around covered porch. Central heating system and air conditioning for year round comfort. Modern appliances, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, stove, coffee maker, electric water kettle, water cooler, BBQ. Amply furnished for the comfort of our guests of 1 to a maximum of 4 people. Flat screen 40inch TV with Blue Ray player and a random assortment of DVDs. Unlimited WIFI access to stay connected to the outside world. Basic condiments, sugars , salt etc. etc. are provided. When staying at the log home you have access to 2000 feet of pristine and private waterfront on Desert Lake with 200 acres of field and forest for hiking and exploring. This is not a campground or resort. You will appreciate a very private time. The exclusive waterfront has a large floating dock with ladders and the water is very clean and exceptional for swimming. (During warm weather). Bring your own kayaks, canoes , boats or use ours. We have two kayaks and a canoe available with paddles and PFDs. If you have a motorized boat, there is a public boat launch about 3 minutes down the road, near Desert Lake Campground where Holleford and Desert Lake intersect. Get in the boats and explore Desert Lake, Mitchell Creek, Birch Lake and Kingsford Lake giving access by water to Frontenac Provincial Park. To access the private waterfront on the farm you can drive or enjoy a 5- 10 minute walk on a very attractive private lane. During the summer there are a few cows and horses on the property grazing on small pasture fields nestled amongst the trees. Most of the farm is pristine Canadian Shield forested terrain, interspersed with pasture. A naturalists delight. This is not a 'run out he back door and jump into the lake' setting. When it was built over 200 years ago, the inhabitants were more concerned about being close to their neighbours rather than an engaging water view. Be prepared to stroll down to the water's edge, or you can drive along the lane to park at the head of a 100 foot trail that takes you down to the 'boat launch' where a large west facing floating dock with a swim ladder is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. Four wheeling and sea-doos are discouraged. Snow mobiles are allowed when there is adequate snow, providing that operators stay on the prescribed trails. Notice is requested in advance from guests bringing snow machines. Desert Lake is one of the largest, cleanest, deepest inland lakes in Eastern Ontario. The lake is approx 4.5 miles long and the deepest spot is 232 feet. The average depth of the lake is 72 feet. Due to the cleanliness of the water and its depth, it makes for one of the premier Lake Trout fishing spots in Southern Ontario. The lake also produces northern pike, large and small mouth bass, yellow perch, crappies and lake herring. For the more adventurous, Birch and Kingsford Lakes can be accessed by a short canoe ride down Mitchell Creek. These lakes offer more wilderness oriented opportunities, like hiking and camping, as they border on Frontenac Park. Frontenac Provincial Park is within a 10 minute drive. The park has numerous hiking trails, dozens of lakes with excellent fishing and an abundance of wildlife. For more information on the park, contact Friends of Frontenac Park. Ten minute drive to Verona, where you will find banking, grocery including LCBO and Beer Store, restaurants, churches, library, medical building , hardware, Farmer’s food outlet ,convenience stores and much more. . Twenty minutes to the north are the quaint little town of Westport where you could spend an afternoon shopping. Also in Westport are two golf courses and one more can be located just north of Verona which is just 10 minutes away.http://www.rivendellgolf.on.ca 40 minutes to the south in Kingston , Amherstview and Camden East, there are several different golf courses. Thirty or more minutes to the south is the beautiful historic City of Kingston, with numerous attractions such as Fort Henry, Bellevue House, Queens University, Royal Military College and Canadian Forces Base Kingston. Please contact Magret for further information and to book your vacation rental.
This is true Canadian shield country in the "land of a thousand lakes". Kingston (population 165,000) is approximately 35 minutes away. Verona, a small town of 500 is approximately 8 to 10 minutes away for the conveniences of gas, grocery, liquor and beer outlet , farmer's food outlet, restaurants, golf course, bank (BMO), medical attention , churches, etc. The renowned Frontenac Provincial Park is less than an 8 minute drive away.
  • Magret's cabin was absolutely lovely even in the off season. I would love to return again in the summer to see it in it's glory!

    Michele2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great little getaway spot. This is a very cute and rustic cabin with all the amenities, and in excellent shape. Magret was a very accommodating host.

    Peter2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Magret was a great host very thoughtful. There was a nice care package when we arrived as well as a number of essentials just incase we forgot something. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone . It’s a perfect getaway with a very authentic cottage look.

    Kimberly2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable and clean. Even better than the photos.

    Greg2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay, thank you!

    Valerie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin really takes you back in time and the way it was restored is really impressive. There is so much land to explore, even in winter, you never get bored snowshoeing around. As for accommodation, the king bed in the loft was comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped, with everything you need for cooking ans baking. The bathroom was clean. The wi-fi was really good, we also had access to Netflix and a bunch of DVD's. The communication with Margret was flawless, she responded quickly and gave us great directions to get to the cabin. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, I really recommend this place for a nice getaway.

    Michelle2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin in a beautiful location

    David2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Magret's cabin was excellent and we had an amazing time staying there. The photos of the cabin don't do it justice. There was a fire going when we arrived and a welcome gift with a note, which were all lovely touches. We used the snowshoes to walk the trails and see the beautiful landscape. Magret's local tips were spot on and we ended up at food less travelled twice! Loved staying here!

  • The place is stunning inside and out. The cabin is beautifully decorated and extremely clean. We enjoyed being right on the lake and watching the beautiful sunset (plus waking up to views of the lake was a nice surprise!). The surrounding is also extremely peaceful and quiet. James is friendly, helpful, and quick to communicate - which made us feel very welcomed. Overall - highly, highly recommended!

This is a real backwoods experience! Our camp is a private, 350-acre wilderness on a 35-acre lake (the first of the Lingham Lakes system in Frontenac County). Less than 3 hours from downtown Toronto, and less than 2 hours from Ottawa. Swim, paddle in our canoes and kayak, and access an extra 8600 hectares of remote trails and lakes in adjacent Mellon Lake Conservation Reserve. Only 30 min. from Bon Echo Provincial Park. Enjoy your stay in a huge all-season 32-foot diameter yurt with wood stove.
Located in the rugged Land O’ Lakes region of Eastern Ontario, our camp is a private, 350-acre wilderness, on the first of the Lingham Lakes in Central Frontenac Township, County of Frontenac. (Please note this is not Lingham Lake in Hastings County, north of Madoc.) We offer a rustic, but comfortable camping experience, in a huge, fully insulated yurt, just steps away from the large, private lake. Activities include swimming from the dock and paddling for hours (we supply two canoes, a small kayak, paddles, and lifejackets), relaxing in our new (2020) wood-fired barrel sauna, hiking for kilometres through the woods, barbecuing on the deck, toasting smores at the lakeside firepit, and enjoying a cozy evening star-gazing through the domed skylight. A summer paradise! Please note there is no water and no electricity. The trails are not suitable for ATVs - no offroading allowed on our property. Also, hunting is not allowed anywhere on the property.
If you need food or supplies, travel 30 minutes south on County Road 15 (also known as Arden Road) to the village of Tamworth. There you will find a grocery store, pharmacy (open weekdays only), bank (CIBC), hardware store, LCBO, post office, and several places to eat, including a bakery, diner, and cafe.
  • Amazing place! Very private. Cannot see or hear anyone. No neighbours. Such a lovely and comfortable spot to spend some time in nature without doing all the work of camping. So many thoughtful touches.

    Laura2020-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a great little place off the grid. A great way to spend a couple nights in nature. Very peaceful, very clean, firewood was stocked. Looking forward to coming again.

    Jenny2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is the nicest yurt I have ever stayed in. From the view of the lake while we cooked Chili dogs on the deck, to the fire pit beside the frozen winter lake. This was such an amazing experience and I can't wait to go back! Thank you for being such a wonderful host and accommodating us to extend our stay. We will definitely be back in the summer for this hidden paradise.

    Kylie2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing escape from Toronto! We will all be back!

    Becki2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic weekend at the yurt. It was the perfect place to get away and enjoy the quiet, snow, and stars. The yurt is spacious and clean and Karen and Phil were both incredibly helpful and responsive. If you are looking for a quiet getaway in the woods this is the ideal location. We are looking forward to coming back!

    Chris2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed two nights in the yurt in mid-February, and it was a completely magical place for snowshoeing and reading in front of the wood stove. Karen and Phil were very quick to answer even the smallest question, and helped us out with our car in icy conditions. The yurt itself was super cozy, well-situated, with very comfortable facilities. This was my first experience staying in a yurt and it has made me want to come back very soon!

    Laura2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great way to spend the weekend and time with your loved ones. I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

    Vanessa2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend at Karen’s yurt. The hosts were truly a quick message away and the location was amazing. We loved snowshoeing on the lake and hiking in the local forests. It’s a great time.

The cottage features a spacious combination living room/kitchen with brand new appliances and an upgraded furnace/air system. • This cottage is just as advertised. It is secluded and peaceful. A great place to relax. We look forward someday to returning during warmer weather to enjoy the dock at the water and swimming. We had a good stay

    Cheryl2020-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan, thank you so much for having us at your wonderful cottage! We had a great time. The place was spotless and the kitchen was fully equipped for cooking. The perfect glamping experience for any nature lover looking for a relaxing getaway. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live simply, yet comfortably in the forest? This is as close as it gets. Pursue your favourite outdoor activities during the day and then return to your comfy double bed, steps away from the bonfire. ***We also have other cabins/listings available! https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/19931799 https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/12990922 Check them out!!***
This space is a unique one. A place to set up your camp with the comforts of an indoor space and access to a hot shower at your convenience! Roam around our trails, watch animals in their natural habitat, pick wild edible mushrooms and plants in season, or just sit by the fire and relax. You can also explore our sustainable homestead or take a canoe to the lake just a few minutes from the property! Your Bunkie is surrounded by nature trails on over 200 acres of private land. There is a washroom/ shower building located across from your abode and the nearest lake (Bull Lake) is a 15 minute walk away. The lake has a gravel beach that you can enjoy. If you would like to explore a bit further out, you can rent a canoe from our main house (see "Other Things To Note"). For more images and info visit us on Instagram @Ecoacresfarm #Ecoacresfarm
There is one other Bunkie (see other listing) on the grounds but it is well separated from your site by trees and a small valley. Bull Lake has a great gravel beach area and is only a few minutes away- the perfect place to go for a swim, put a boat in the water or just meditate. Bull Lake is part of the Salmon River watershed and can take you all the way to the Bay of Quinte (Lake Ontario) if you are looking for an adventure!
  • John & Family's place was great! Located on 200 or so acres we explored their property which was nicely mapped out with all the trails easily marked and visible. Getting to the cabin and checking in was a breeze. Definitely recommend :)

    Dariusz2020-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • The bunkie is super simple but provides everything you need - a cosy bed for the night, some candles, and a little table in the corner. The property it is on is wonderful to walk around and see all of the local sites. If you just want to have a peaceful, stripped back get away in the woods then this provides everything you're looking for. I highly recommend!

  • Beautiful piece of property to enjoy a quiet retreat

    Dorothy2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • I had a really lovely stay in this cute little bunkie. Its a room with a light, and few candles, and a bed, but thats all you need to for a peaceful getaway. The fire pit was nicely set up, and the picnic table caught the morning sun, which was really pleasant. I also enjoyed walking around the grounds, there are some little trails, and if you're quiet the odd bit of wildlife. I also rented a canoe and went for a paddle on Bull lake, which was lovely. All in, a really great place to stay.

    David2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing, secluded property with lovely trails to walk. Despite isolation, it is well located: less than an hour's drive to Bon Echo or the Dark Sky Viewing area. Great amenities, a luxury camping experience. The cabin was clean and cozy, a short walk from the washroom facilities. John and Abbey were communicative and quick to respond. Simple check in. Highly recommend.

  • Secluded and amazing getaway:)

    Matt2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time here. The place was clean and as advertised. We visited the nearby Lennox and Addington county dark sky viewing area for a spectacular star gazing.

    Nithyananda2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay, very quiet and private. It was so nice to have a real washroom to use as opposed to outhouses like at most camp grounds.

Situated on 50 beautiful acres, our new tiny house enjoys views of the pond and meadow inside and out. Explore the property or simply sit and watch the wildlife stroll by in a very quiet and peaceful setting. Enjoy an off grid experience. The solar panels provide power for lighting and refrigerator while propane fuels the small furnace and cook top. Drinking water will be provided. Outside finds a BBQ ,fire pit and the outhouse! Settle yourself in and enjoy !
If your looking for easy camping without neighbors this is a great location. The tiny house takes all that hard packing away. Bring only essentials and enjoy a dry , warm place to stay.
The tiny house is a bit remote with the closest amenities about 20 minutes away. There are lots of lakes close by. Long Lake beach is only 5 minutes down the road.
  • The place is exactly as advertised. We love that it was very clean. There were no surprises as Mary has done a good job explaining the cabin. I went there with my kids(less than 7year old each) and we used the pullout couch to sleep on. The place is compact(as advertised) and the space becomes limited once the couch is turned into a bed. Not surprised by this but wanted to point it out for future guests. The pond and the firepit are just added bonuses. It's so quiet and peaceful. This is exactly what my kids and I needed. We love exploring tiny cabins in Ontario. Would love to go back again in the future.

    Adnan2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed 3 nights. It was a very enjoyable time. No complaints at all. Highly recommend!

    Ronnie2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience in our first tiny home. Very clean inside and out. Mary Ellen was very hospitable! We had all the essentials and more.

    Denise2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Ellen welcomed us extremely soon (even if we arrived a little late) The little house is beautiful and very well maintained Its location by the lake (frozen) is ideal. A very nice place to meet lovers

    Guillaume2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic weekend. The cabin is all you need. Extremely clean, well designed, and in a perfect location as well. The poor petty is truly your playground and up to you how you use it. We went cross country skiing each day, venturing through the woods and trying to track beavers footprints. The barbecue worked great for cooking, and Mary Ellen has everything figured out from a power standpoint ensuring you have access to solar power and propane. We had a small miscommunication that delayed our stay by one night, but it all worked out in the end and we are really looking forward to returning! Highly recommend.

    Connor2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot, cozy, clean, and stylish tiny home. Great area for cross country skiing. Mary Ellen, is a great host. Thank you! We hope to be back!

    Alicia2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as advertised and spotless clean. Mary Ellen greets you and gives a quick tutorial on the electric and gas systems. Lots of forest to wander and then come back and relax by the campfire and listen to nature.

    Wes2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • It was an exceptional and rejuvenating journey. Right in the middle of nature, the place is calm and very pleasant. I recommend to anyone who wants to take a break from their life ... thank you very much.

  • Jamie’s cottage was clean, comfortable and the location right on the lake was wonderful. Unfortunately, the weather during our stay wasn’t perfect but everything else was. Jamie was an excellent host and was very responsive to answering any questions. I would highly recommend staying here!

    Sarah2020-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jamie accepted our request last minute for an extended weekend away from the bustling city. The cabin is located on lake in South Frontenac and it did not disappoint. The loft is beautiful, well equipped and complete with panoramic windows to appreciate the beautiful view. Among the many amenities, the fireplace kept us warm as we binge watched movies on the apple tv. Jamie was a thoughtful host checking in on us throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed! The only negative was the water pressure for the shower! That did not impact our vacation what so ever. Thank you Jamie for a relaxing weekend!

    Madeleine2020-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot for a small group or couples getaway. View is beautiful, cottage was well appointed and comfortable! Overall, would highly recommend The Aerie for those wanting a quiet, relaxing getaway!

    Janet2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Aerie was the perfect destination for a romantic couple of days away from real life. The cabin was clean and beautiful, with the perfect layout for lounging, eating, and socializing. We especially loved the view over the lake, the living room fireplace, and the squashy giant sofa. The view from the luxurious bathtub was pretty great too: I watched a deer grazing just a few feet away from where I was soaking and sipping wine. Host Jamie was lovely and extremely easy to communicate with both before and during our stay, and he was very accommodating of a couple of special requests we made along the way. The cleaning charge feels a bit on the steep side for a short stay, but still worth the pay out. We visited in winter and are hoping to return in the summer for a different experience at this magical place.

    Kate2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is our first time AirBnB & Cabin (cottage) experience , true getaway and embrace the beauty of the nature, house is clean, , kitchen is fully equipped, couch and beds are comfortable, Jamie is doing his best to be helpful.

    Zhujun2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • I had a perfect pile of days away at this quiet little cottage. Super clean and cozy. I spent most of my time next to the fire as my stay was in winter. The couch is incredibly comfortable & I was able to go ice skating out on the lake- awesome!

    Reilly2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Aerie is a wonderful, private place to enjoy a bit of R and R. We spent 4 nights over New Years enjoying books and wine in front of the fireplace and enjoyed every minute. The cottage is very privately nestled in the woods on a very quiet lake. It's impeccably clean and modern with every amenity you might need. The beds and sofa are super comfy.. perfect for lounging around. Jamie was very responsive and very kindly adjusted our dates by one day when an ice storm moved in the day we were to travel there. This is the perfect place for a couple or small family to enjoy a peaceful retreat. (It's open concept so privacy may be an issue for some) Highly recommended!

Arden, Big Clear Lake. Private. "Rustin & Worn around the edges". Main cottage: 3 bedrms, full kitchen, 3-pc bathrm Bunkie: sleeps 2 (no heat) Fishing, swimming, hiking. Rustic. Clean. Indoor & Outdoor Shower. No pets. No smoking. I am sharing this old treasure for others to enjoy. It does not have fresh paint and perfectly sliding doors. It is an old, rustic cottage with plenty of character. It will never look new nor will I ever rent it for the price of a new cottage. I love my cottage!
It is privately located in the centre of a double lot. 210 feet of shoreline. Quiet setting. Quiet Lake. Great fishing! Propane BBQ WiFi Cell phone reception is excellent Swimming is fabulous.
Arden is a small community West of Sharbot Lake off hwy #7. It is central to Ottawa and Peterborough. Arden has an active Community Centre where you can join a game of Euchre on Tuesday nights at 7pm. The Library is in the same building as the Community Centre. The hours vary during the week. Complimentary WiFi. There is a legion where you can purchase some groceries, play pool, darts or Euchre on Thursday nights. Your nearest full grocery store is in Sharbot Lake. You are very close to the old Kick & Push trail. The K&P Trail is a recreational trail that runs along the old Kingston and Pembroke Railway bed. • A beautiful space and very clean cabins! My siblings and I loved this cottage and really enjoyed our stay there!

  • It’s a cottage. For those who haven’t had the privilege of growing up going to a rustic family cottage, they’re magical places that require a lot of time and effort and ultimately respect from everyone who visits them. Heather’s cottage was perfect for what we needed the Labour Day weekend because our own family cottage, also on the lake, was where my brother was hosting a wedding. Anyone looking for a *real* Ontario cottage experience should check out this one.

    Jonathon2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is our 4th time back, Heather is a great host, great communication, and a great place.

    Shane2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy and relaxing get away, stayed for 4days and it was perfect, definitely recommend this place, thanks heather.

  • We had a wonderful stay. Heather was a wonderful host. Peace and serenity with all the privacy you need to enjoy this cabin in the woods! We're thinking of coming back already.

  • Best experience I have ever had a cottage. Heather was great to ensure I was enjoying myself. Great biking and hiking trails around. I went for peace and quiet and got exactly that! Very private location. Check out the pottery place five mins down the lane. Such nice people.

    Brett2018-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot on quiet Big Clear Lake. Myself and 6 friends had a great weekend reunion at Heather’s place. Perfect spot for a little swimming, campfires, and socializing. Very private but accessible with everything we needed.

    Brittany2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic spot on Big Clear Lake. The water front is amazing and the cabin is perfect in every way - just as described. Very family friendly - our children all had a blast and it was easy to stay safe and relax.

Peaceful cottage in the woods on an environmentally-protected lake in eastern Ontario.
This cottage in the woods in eastern Ontario is nestled into the Canadian shield on the edge of an environmentally-protected lake. It sits a few hundred metres from our small hobby farm, where we raise a small, pampered flock of sheep and goats. The cottage features 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, an open concept living space, huge deck with furniture and barbecue, and a dock on the water's edge. Renters have access to a canoe. The cottage is one of only a handful on MNR-protected White Lake, where no motorboats and no fishing mean that the lake is one of the quietest that you will encounter. Go for a canoe ride to take in the solitude on the lake. Explore 300 acres of crown land on the west shore of the lake. The village of Sharbot Lake is 15 minutes away and offers restaurants, cafe, live entertainment at the Country Inn sometimes as well as Hardware, Drug and Grocery stores. The Cardinal cafe has live music on Thursday nights during the summer and fall months. There is a sandy beach on Sharbot Lake in the village that also has a park for children. One hour north of Kingston and all that it has to offer and One and a half hours west of Ottawa with all of its museums and Government buildings in Canada's capital city.
  • This is our second time staying here in the winter and we absolutely love it. It is just a great spot and the view is spectacular. This property is amazing and the fireplace inside is a real perk. Great views and very cosy inside. Cant wait to go back.

  • This well-equipped, cozy cottage sits on a beautiful quiet location on White Lake, next to a working farm with sheep, goats, horses. It's a restful spot with stunning natural scenery! But be prepared for weather that can interfere with plans or mobility, especially in winter. Hosts Heather and George are terrific and communicative, and quick to solve any issues that arise.

    Steen2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Heather's cottage was remarkable! She and her husband were very understanding. They responded in a timely manner and were very hospitable. Despite some discrepancies, they adapted accordingly and were extremely helpful. I would highly recommend a stay at their homely and beautiful cottage!

  • We had a great, relaxing stay at Debbie's. The cabin has everything you need and what a beautiful spot! Loved hearing the water and sitting out under the trees. The facilities were so clean and the bed was very comfortable. Thank you Debbie and Warren!

    Robin2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie and Warren were great hosts! They were very accommodating and even lent me a toque since it was quite chilly in early Oct. Lovely cabin and gorgeous views.

    Rachelle2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic, cozy place with lots of privacy. Debbie was very helpful finding us local boat launches and setting us up. Would come back.

    Rob2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Love this charming minimalistic glamping site! Debbie and Reave went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and at home. Their home is down the hill if you need anything but rest assured the lot is very private. Thanks for the after bite cream, the extra wood and letting us tour your art studio! This place definitely made our anniversary trip so romantic with the rapids and naps in the hammock, we’re excited for our next visit!

    Joëlle2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • As an affordable tiny cabin experience surrounded by water-it was totally worthwhile. Had a fantastic time hanging out by the rapids, some good fishing, swimming, having bonfires, admiring the vivid night sky and kayaking about! Frequent sightings of "Gary" the local blue heron was an added delight. Additionally, the great hosts, Debbie and Warren, knew just what to recommend to suit our unwritten adventure!!

    Erin2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to get away and unwind! I could not have asked for a more picturesque view of two lakes. Debbie and Warren provided all the necessities, and I thoroughly felt at home on the ridge.. I didn't want to leave after my stay (and neither did the dogs)! Despite not being completely remote, it felt like a true rustic camping experience and not having a cell phone signal forced me to be able to fully unwind and embrace the beauty of this location. I would most definitely return in the future.

    Ashley2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, peaceful spot, incredibly well set-up by the loveliest hosts. Incredible hospitality, wonderful access to both lakes, and spectacular views. We canoed and fished on Georgia Lake, and portaged over to Marble Lake for a full afternoon. Visited Bon Echo - it's a quick drive for a spectacular visit. We can't wait to come back to this little glamping paradise!

  • Great place to relax and unwind. My boyfriend and I went for 3 nights in cottage #2 and had an amazing time. We were greeted by Louise (the sweetest woman), who let us know where everything was. She left us alone the remainder of the time (other than the occasional chat as she walked past). The cottage was very clean and had everything you could need in the kitchen. The only thing I would tell you to bring is a foam pad for the beds for extra comfort, but if you're not picky you'll survive. The enclosed porch was the highlight. We spent hours in the evening playing cards and listening to the loons on the lake, **without getting eaten by mosquitoes**. The #1,#2, and #3 cottages are relatively close together, but we never saw or heard our neighbours at night. We LOVED the small beach area that had great swimming, a jumping raft a short swim away, and beautiful sunset views. (Bring water shoes if you don't like to touch seaweed when jumping off the raft). We also rented one of the canoes and it was a great choice. The views on the water are something you don't want to miss, so take advantage. The lake is great for fishing too. If you have kiddos, the bench at the beach is a great spot to cast in the evening. Only 25ish minutes from Bon Echo Provincial Park (which you have to see if you're in the area). And only 20 minutes from Northbrook, which has a grocery store, lcbo, beer store, and gas station(that has worms for fishing). We absolutely loved our time there, and are already planning a trip next summer!

  • If you want to get away and unwind, this place is just what you need - rustic, next to a lake and steps away from a cute little beach, where you can rent canoes, kayaks and paddle boats. Louise and Robb are very welcoming. We’ll definitely be back!

    Alexandra2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin 2 was the perfect little space for our family of 3. It was exactly what a cottage should be. It had everything we needed, and it had a wonderfully unique rustic feel. I was glad it had a private bathroom off the screened porch, and the shared shower was super clean. We rented a canoe for 2 hours (20bucks) and bought some firewood for 5. The beach is pristine and the water clean and clear. We loved our time venturing to the different islands, hiking in Bon Echo a short drive away, and swimming and jumping off the dock. It's a private and quiet space with beautiful views. This has been a vacation to remember, and it's all thanks to this resort and the hospitality of Louise and her husband. We really cannot wait to return! If you can...you really must stay here! If you want a true cottage experience, THIS is your answer. Enjoy!

    Catherine2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is exactly as advertised. If you want a cottage weekend without the crowds of other cottage locations, this is the place to go! The people who live there are friendly and fun, the owner is outstanding . The lake is peaceful but lots to do. Bon echo is a close drive to! Thank you for giving us a wonderful experience.

    Cody2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • If your looking for a quiet vacation with the family or a weekend getaway this is a great spot. Close enough to a store if you forgot anything but far enough away so you don’t hear the traffic. Our family highly recommends Louise place. Super friendly and also pet friendly. This is the place to go. Thanks again Louise for an amazing time

Feel like you are on your own Private Island! Welcome to the Black Bird Cabin, on Graceys Island in Sharbot Lake. This is an off grid cabin on an 11 acre island property. It's a hidden piece of natural paradise - full of old growth trees and wild life. Perfect for bird watching. The cabin is located on a cliff and has a large cedar porch. Steps away there is a screened in deck where you can relax in the hammock overseeing the lake. Boat access required. A canoe is available if needed (free).
It is an off grid cabin with no running water or electricity in the cabin. There are many battery powered LED lights, which can be recharged with a power bank. There is a kitchen equipped with all you need to cook up a sweet meal. The fire pit outside has a grill for wood fired BBQ. You have to bring your own drinking water. There is a beautiful outdoor shower between rocks and cedar trees. The toilet is an outhouse. The cabin sleeps 3 adults or 2 adults and children. The loft has a queen bed and we provide bedding. The sofa in the cabin folds also in a small bed. To access the cabin it is a 20 min paddle from the public boat ramp on Hwy. 38 in Sharbot Lake. The cabin is on a cliff / hill 80 meters from the dock. BOAT ACCESS ONLY! A canoe is available if needed included in the rental.
In Sharbot Lake you will find everything you need to enjoy your stay.
  • This was the best way to spend a fall weekend. The trip in was easy. I ran along the Trans Canada trail Sunday and had breakfast at Maples. Spent the afternoons reading in a hammock and the evening by the fire. The place was spectacular, the communications were amazing. I will be back!

    Leah2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, views, and serenity. The canoe ride there and back are great and relaxing! It is just difficult to know where to leave your car and find the boat launch, after that it's all clear. The land is quite wild and untamed, but still enjoyable to navigate. Would definitely recommend!

    Ramy2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin and location. You can tell Sven put a lot of love and thought into this place! Would definitely come back.

    Esabelle2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great location with enough to do for at least a week. Super nice host and super nice cabin, in a super nice location. Everything is just super nice.

    Jean-Luc2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The beautiful island that Sven’s place sits on was an easy canoe paddle from shore. Once we docked, we were thrilled to find the cabin had all the necessities and some thoughtful extras. The deck was a great spot for spending time, the fire pit was useful and well-designed. The separate screened porch overlooking the water had two comfy hammocks that were perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view of the lake and other islands. Though we didn’t meet Sven, his communications were quick and detailed, he was very accommodating, and the thoughtful touches that abounded made our stay a memorable one. We’ll be back for sure!

    Casey2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We spent three nights of wonder in the cabin of Sven. The cabin is small, but all the space is well optimized. It's perfect for two or three people. You really feel like you're lost in the middle of nowhere, yet you're only 20 minutes by canoe from the village of Sharbot Lake where you can find everything you need. Many birds in the morning. The ideal place for a getaway if you like nature. Sven is very kind and available. Thanks Sven !!

    Fidel2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time in Sven’s cabin on the island! The cabin is small, but stylish, comfortable and has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. There is a propane stove top for cooking (bring matches to light) and enough dishes, pots, pans, and utensils to cook simple meals. There are windows in the loft upstairs that provide a nice breeze and the bed is a super comfy memory foam mattress. Had the best sleep of our lives! Awesome fire pit and some trails around the island for a nice hike. The hike up from the dock to the cabin is no joke. Remember you’re walking up a bit of a cliff. So bring good shoes for an uphill climb and PACK LIGHT! We used Sven’s motorboat to get to the island, which worked great! There is a beach nearby, for a less weedy area to swim. And the cafe in town has good coffee. There’s also a dollar store in town that we visited for ice. There’s a grocery store too, but we noticed the ice at the dollar store was a bit cheaper. :) Brought my fishing gear but didn’t end up spending very much time fishing. But we saw people fishing around the lake, so bring your rod! The shower is cold but so refreshing on a hot day. Bring bug spray, the mosquitos got bad around dusk. We brought our 2 tiki torches which helped light up the outside area. We brought some camping lanterns and lights of our own, but there are some really bright LED lights provided that were great for lighting up the cabin. Sven was super friendly and helpful and responded right away to any questions we had. Thanks for having us!! We would definitely like to visit again!

#Cottage Vibe with Lake Views from most windows. Access to private Long Lake accessed by Dock from waterfront, Boat Launch nearby with sandy beach area. Great retreat for groups or families looking for that getaway from the City. Lounge on one of the patios soaking up the rays or take a dip in the spring fed Lake, also great fishing year round. By night, sit around the campfire situated atop bedrock with plenty of seating roasting hot dogs or making smores.
Sunfilled rooms with stunning lake views. You could enjoy dining indoors or in our favourite spot, the porch of the kitchen with spectacular views all around.
Quiet location surrounded by nature and amazing views.
  • John & Adina’s place is a hidden gem. It is in the best spot for a weekend out to getaway from the city life. It is perfect for families and groups of friends. The lake and the view are unforgettable. I had a great time staying at their place.

  • Beautiful place and property. I can’t say enough good about it. I loved the gardens and view to the lake. Would definitely stay there again. Make sure to bring plenty of clothing as there is no laundry facilities and the closest laundromat is 1 hour away. Also, bring your own cleaning products and a little vacuum if possible.

  • This is our second year coming out to this cottage and it is one of our favourite places in the world. The water is warm, the dock is nice and relaxing, the campfires are excellent and everything in the house is exactly what one would look for in an air bnb. The BBQ works great, the taps have super cold and hot water, the shower has a great stream and the beds are all comfy enough to get a good night's sleep. John and Adina are immediate with their responses and very kind. I can only hope we have another chance to come out and enjoy this awesome place again!

    Kyle2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage. Very private and quiet. The public beach is a 3 min drive and we swam there and we enjoyed it. Quite a few bugs here so bring lots of bug spray. Fishing off the dock was amazing, we caught Pike, Smallmouth + Rock Bass, Perch and Sunfish with just worm bait! Easy access to cottage but good grocery stores somewhat far (we found a great one 1/2 hour drive north on road 38 to Sharbot Lake) ... All in all a great value

    Constantin2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • The place is so beautiful and peaceful! Had a great time! Host are a lot accommodating and understanding. Really glad we choose this place for our first vacations with our twins babies! the only thing is the lake access not easy with babies! The house is really confortable and everything was sparkling clean!

    Noémie2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Place was lovely and very clean. Dock was great and lake was beautiful to swim in. Even with all the stairs the kids enjoyed the stay and loved jumping in the water off the dock.

    Adele2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space both in and out. Great spot on the lake. Kids caught tons of fish and loved swimming out into the lake. Lots of stairs to help work off the cottage snacks. Bugs were way less then we had expected for first week of July. We had 2 families of 4 share the space with 2 young kids each and it worked out well.

Horseshoe Lake is very quiet, and is very easy to explore through boat. Being connected to the Salmon River system means if you have a map or just a strong sense of adventure you can travel for a long time in our quiet pristine waters! There is plenty of space on the property for a family to spread out and really relax. You will not feel crowded at the Cuckoo's Nest! This is the perfect place to unplug with your family away from the distractions of wifi.

  • We had a couples weekend getaway from our kids at the Cuckoos Nest with our pups. We loved that there was enough rooms to fit all 6 of us and if not more! All of our dogs enjoyed themselves with the nice little private beach entrance where they were able to swim at their own pleasure. They also enjoyed the visits from the friendly neighbour dogs that would come by to say hello! Such a beautiful and quiet weekend, with such easy access to the water and access to use the canoe, fishing was a good pass time for us. We will be back to next summer to visit but next time we will bring the kids to enjoy how truly amazing it is! Thank you again Allie :)

  • The Cuckoo's Nest is a great spot for a cottage getaway. It has lots of space and all the amenities, but still feels like a classic quiet retreat. The lake is big but not too busy; we took the canoe out many times and loved exploring the waterfront. I would go back in a heartbeat.

  • This is my second stay at the cabin and I cannot wait return. The additional of solar lighting to the outdoor kitchen was a pleasant surprise at sun down. Gorgeous location for doing everything or nothing at all. Everything was very clean and well stocked with all the necessities. Wendi, Dale, and Carsyn are fantastic hosts!

    Jennifer2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • When we arrived we were greated and taken to the cabin. The kids got to ride on a golf cart which they loved. Wendi showed us around and made sure we knew how everything worked. Everything was so clean and tidy (exactly as pictured). The kids were very interested in Wendi and Dale's chickens next door and they so kindly let us feed them. They made a great recommendation about a beach just down the road which we went to and they made sure we were comfortable at night by bringing us a heater. We could not have asked for better service. I highly recommend staying here. Wendi, Dale and Carsyn are amazing people.

  • This is the best Airbnb we’ve ever stayed at. The outdoor set up is carefully thought out & allows for plenty of time to have fun & enjoy the surroundings! Highly recommend & the hosts were warm, friendly & helpful! Thanks for a perfect stay :)

  • What a lovely cabin experience this is, complete with an outdoor kitchen, fridge and other amenities in the cabin it was such a cozy and comfortable stay. I loved all the little touches that were put into the place, it was more than I expected and the perfect place to chill out and relax. So close to Bon Echo as well! Wendi and Dale are so lovely and left me in privacy after a quick tour around. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or book again!

    Melissa2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cosy cabin will exceed your expectations. Wendi is a lovely host and the cabin is equipped with anything you’d ever need and more! If you’re looking for a nice and peaceful getaway in Canada then this is perfect!

    Shannon2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved spending two nights at Wendi's and Dale's small cabin! A very comfortable camping experience with all we could think of. The fireplace, outside kitchen, barbecue, tent for the kids, a cold shower :), very good bed, quiet, full moon, fresh eggs from the neighbours, popcorn and all the other small attentions from our hosts. The area is just beautiful with thousands of lakes, Bon Echo park. I can recommand this place!

    Margriet2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a better host, you will find no better than Wendi, Dale, and Carsyn. With their personal charisma and thoughtful touches, our stay was one to remember for years to come.

    Yuriy2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little cabin in a quiet area. It's about a 10 minute walk from a beautiful lake, and not a long drive to some other amazing areas, like Bon Echo lake. It was great to be somewhere so peaceful, and it was very relaxing!

This cottage is located on quiet McCrimmon Bay in Sharbot Lake. The property offers a private dock with shallow entry to the lake. Quiet bay. Great fishing and swimming. The cottage offers running water and shower. The cottage runs on well water. This cottage has its own fire pit and propane bbq. Bring your own linens/towels. Bring your fishing boats!
This cottage is located on a property with two other nearby cottages. Each cottage has it's own private dock, fire pit and access to the water.
Our favourite coffee shop in the village of Sharbot Lake is the Cardinal Cafe! The Oso Public Beach has a great farmer's market on Saturdays.
  • Quiet and peaceful surroundings. Clean and neat living space. Just what we needed.

    Brad2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful cottage located on a beautiful lake. It is quiet and really “in the woods”, which we loved. We couldn’t hear the highway, just birds and animals. Lots of wildlife. Great swimming. The hosts very kindly built a ramp to get in to the cottage, as my husband uses a wheelchair. This cottage is now accessible and the lake is accessible too as there is a gradual, grassy slope leading right down to the water. Highly recommended - we would love to come back next year!

A unique spot. Enjoy lake life in your own separate bunkie. The bunkie is clean and very comfortable. Great for a family or a few friends looking to get away for a few days. You have your own dock and deck on the lake. The lake is warm and great for swimming and fishing. Note: as there is no kitchen, your cooking options are limited to the bbq or sandwich grill; see amenities below).
You don't have a kitchen but you do have access to a BBQ by the lake, and a bar fridge and electric sandwich grill in the bunkie. We provide towels and linens. Wifi is available, as is netflix.
The neighbourhood is quiet and friendly. The public beach is a 5 minute walk down the road or you can swim from your own dock.
  • Beautiful location and great amenities. In General better that we expected specially due to Sharon quick response. Quick access to an amazing view. Definetly we want to come back :)

    Ingrid2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Small cottage very clean, cute and comfortable. It was perfect for my daughter and me. Sharon warmly welcomed us while respecting our space. Very well equipped with all kinds of things that we could have forgotten. I hope to go back to do some pottery!

  • We had an awesome weekend stay at Sharon's bunkie. Everything was beyond our expectation!

    Leah2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is SUCH a great private getaway. The bunkie is so cozy and stylish and you get a whole deck with bbq and swinging bench to yourselves. Then that goes down to your own private dock and deck with chairs for sitting. Sharon and tracy are so helpful but know when you want your privacy which is awesome. We’re going back in October !

    Ashley2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place. Peaceful and quiet. Sharon is super nice.

    Tarik2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon and Tracy are very friendly, helpful and kind people. The bunkie is very cute and clean with fine mattresses. The view to the lake is marvelous! Many animals like foxes, beavers, deer and fireflies. We had a very pleasant stay. A stay to be remembered and to be recommended!

Very experienced teachers, extremely patient and really enjoyable, relaxed, welcoming attitude. Lots of space with deck, dock, gardens and a cute beach just around the corner. Looking forward to visiting the area again!

This private 2+ acre retreat offers breathtaking views of Kashwakamak Lake and full day sun exposure on the lakeside dock. The cottage is on quiet road with a 150’ of clear, weed free water; there's even a canoe for exploring. The cottage offers modern amenities and is 15 minutes from groceries, gas & beer/LCBO. You won't be disappointed if you're seeking a tranquil vacation. NOTE: check in is Sat and check out the following Sat. Msg if requesting different or enquiring about pets.
This cottage is nestled among the trees like an adult tree fort. The cottage is open concept with lots of space for 7 guests to relax. Please note, there are stairs from the cottage to the lake (see pics)...but the exercise is worth the stunning views and fresh air. Pets are not typically allowed however, message us and an exception might be considered pending the type.
Cottage is 5 minutes south of Bon Echo Provincial Park. The lake is large (18 km long) and boasts clean, calm and warm summer swimming and fishing. Because the lake is 65% crown land, it is also a very peaceful and quiet retreat; you will not feel like a sardine in a can on Kashwakamak. The cottage is surrounded by 75 acres of private property, is located on a very large bay (Browns Bay) and is only occupied by approximately 16 cottages. There is also a rope swing (within a canoe ride distance) and a public boat launch (access on Brown's Bay Rd) on the bay. The local area has gas, groceries, restaurants, hardware stores, outdoor/fishing supplies, LCBO, Beer Store, pharmacy, golf course, petting zoo/animal rescue and more within a 15 minute drive. You are in the great wilderness but have everything you need within a short drive. Note: the dump is a short drive from the cottage so it is convenient for your waste disposal upon departure. Our neighbours are quiet yet very friendly. Often times, you won't even know they are there.

Completely renovated 1940's Lakeside Cottage on beautiful 13 Island Lake, literally steps from the water. Perfect for a romantic getaway. 1 bedroom and open sleeping loft, kitchen with all the amenities, spa bathroom with soaker tub and separate shower. Explore the lake by canoe or cuddle up on the covered porch and listen to the loons.
Our Name is Czychun, but Tucker's Place has been a landmark on 13 Island Lake forever. Long standing residents of South Frontenac know the property as Tucker's Place and we honoring local history by keeping the name for our cottage. Completely renovated 1940's Lakeside Cottage, and by lakeside we mean exactly 25 feet from the lake shore, dock , canoes, water craft, swimming dock and crystal clear water. Enjoy stunning sunrises and sunsets while listening to the call of the loons on the dock or one of two decks. And although we can just about provide everything you need, sometimes rain must fall. In that case, simply curl up on the covered porch and watch the rain gently fall on the beautiful waters of 13 Island Lake. We renovated this cottage with you in mind. We enjoy the peace and quiet of 13 Island Lake daily and having spent most of our lives in the busy city, we know how much you need this cottage to unwind and rejuvenate. We have provided all or more than the comforts of home, including a completely outfitted kitchen overlooking the lake, a bathroom fit for a spa with a deep soak bathtub and a separate shower, a hotel style bedroom with private views of the woods surrounding the cottage, or a cozy sleeping loft. Open concept kitchen/ cozy living area and lovely main floor bedroom, both with electric fireplaces. The cabin is ideally suited for a couple. However, 4 people- (two couples) can be accommodated. PLEASE NOTE: We have opened the cottage up for the month of Oct 1-16th. The dining area is located on the screened in porch. The cottage is compact inside but we will supply something in order for you to dine inside if the nights are chilly. PLEASE NOTE: The cottage is ideal for a romantic getaway for two and has a main floor bedroom, however, there is additionally a queen bed in the open sleeping loft. The loft has low peaked ceilings, is accessible by stairs and is surrounded by wrought iron railings. The cottage is located at the end of a private lane and although the cottage is nestled in the trees, we are located just down the lane to provide you with anything that you may need, to make your stay-cation perfect. You are also conveniently located just 10 mins from Verona and 40 mins from Kingston, although you just might not want to leave ever! As you can see from our photos, the cottage is located directly on the waterfront and you have easy access to the lake to swim, fish and explore by canoe. We have a canoe available with paddles and PFDs at no extra charge. Please remember to take the lifejackets and emergency water kit in the canoe with you. PLEASE NOTE: The cottage is located to the right of a naturalized marsh with beautiful water lilies and other flowering vegetation that makes this a haven for wildlife such as turtles, frogs, blue herons, kingfishers, bald eagles, osprey, beavers, bass. perch, sunfish, etc. Due to an exceptionally hot spring, early summer and nesting bass, the lakeside is a little weedy starting about 6 feet from the sandy shore. The water is only about 3ft at the dock. The swimming platform is located in deeper water and flotation devices or canoes can take you there easily for swimming. Fluffy Bath towels, beach towels, comfy bedding and plentiful pillows are provided. If you are staying for a week or longer, additional towels and bedding will be provided. The best part of visiting a cottage is outdoor living and balmy nights. We have provided wood free of charge for the outdoor firepit and ask that when you are finished, to ensure that the fire is completely out before going in for the night. 2 outside decks and a covered screened in porch provide areas to enjoy the outdoors. The screened in porch does not have close-able windows. The cottage is heated and the main bedroom is air- conditioned. Modern appliances, including microwave, fridge, stove, coffee maker, electric water kettle, water cooler, toaster and Weber BBQ are there for you to enjoy. There is a Flat screen 40inch TV with complimentary Netflix account set up and ready to use. We do provide Satelite Internet for the cottage. Please note that it is not unlimited and we ask that you practise fair use by not downloading multiple movies etc. You can of course use the internet for normal activities like browsing, emails, Netflix etc. Most cell phones have excellent service at the cottage.
You are also conveniently located just 10 mins from Verona and 40 mins from Kingston, although you just might not want to leave ever! You can also access the public beach on Desert Lake. We are located close to Frontenac Provincial Park and Rivendell Golf Course.
  • This space was beautiful and was such a welcome retreat from busy city life. It had all the amenities of home but with the perfect cottage feel. Patti and Rob were excellent hosts with thoughtful welcoming gifts. I would highly recommend a stay here. Hope to be back again next season!

    Meghan2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. One of our best Airbnb experience ever! The Place, the host! Thanks, Patti for all.

    Issam2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great location with all the amenities you could wish for - we loved canoeing around the lake and seeing the amazing autumnal colours - Patti is an excellent host and made sure we had everything we needed.

    Geoff2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • When my husband and I were planning a weekend away last year (2018), we were looking for something very specific. It had to be secluded (if we could see neighbours, it wasn't secluded enough), romantic, luxurious yet comfortable (without feeling like someone's home) and on water. Oh, and within our very limited budget. I honestly thought we were looking for something that didn't exist--the unicorn of cottages--but then we found Tucker's Place. We fell in love with it the moment we walked through the door, so much so that we booked this year's getaway (2019) while we were still there. This year's stay was every bit as wonderful as last year's, and we have every intention of coming back next year.

    Laura2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay. Right from the start we were welcomed. Loved the experience and the local treats. The view was amazing. Next time we will definitely stay longer. It wasn’t long enough.

    Sill2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time at Pattis place. The space is beautifully designed with all the thoughtful extra touches that make you feel welcome. We had the lake practically to ourselves and had great fun taking the canoe out.

    Holly2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful relaxing stay. The cottage was so much more than we were expecting. So clean and cozy. Patti is so welcoming. She made our stay extra special with all the thoughtful treats such as s'mores kits for our evening bonfire. Wine for a nice relaxing evening. And fancy soaps and bath bombs for a relaxing bath in the large spa tub. We felt so spoiled. We have already recommended Tucker's Place to family. We are planning on staying again next summer.

    Veronica2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Patti is the ultimate host. Quick responses prior to arriving, directions and local suggestions for last minute supplies were crystal clear. The place was absolutely perfect with thoughtful touches all over the place. It was sparking clean, and we had everything we needed for a weekend away from the city. Patti checked in with us right away, and made sure we had everything we needed. The location was quiet from all other cottages and perfect to relax and enjoy the view from the dock. We will be back!

  • My wife and I spent a long weekend at the lake and we loved Christine’s place! The cozy cabin was perfect for relaxing after spending the day on the water. We highly recommend Christine’s place!

    Alex2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage in town. Was convenient to be in town. Stores and cafes were close. Great waterview. You do hear the traffic on the highway but wasn't really bothered by it. Would gladly stay again. Thanks!

    Jeremie2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's place is very modern but still has that cottage feel. The cottage has a great outdoor area with a large patio with couch and tables, large yard, fire pit and sandy area by the dock. Although close to a main road, you felt secluded and it was very convenient to walk to several trails, cafe and grocery store.  The place was very clean and well equipped. Christine provided detailed instructions so we never had to bother her. We brought chairs for the dock and fire pit and I would recommend doing the same.

    Brad2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location. Easy access to the lake via the dock. 5 minute walk to restaurants and cafe and just a couple extra minutes to the beach. We love Sharbot Lake and Christine's place is a perfect spot to take advantage of all that's on offer there.

    James2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous, cosy stay with our two young kids. Well equipped with toys, play structure, sand pile and beach. Had a blast.

    Geoffrey2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Christine’s place is beautiful, and the location is fantastic. Lots of privacy, and the lake is top notch. Fishing, swimming, you name it! Thanks for an amazing stay :)

    Shayne2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage with a large yard and nice waterfront. Will come back next summer!

    John2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Stop searching for another cottage getaway because you have just found a gold mine! Christines place is absolutely stunning and has everything you need! You can catch amazing fish just off of the dock! Or if a boat is more your thing then you can rent from a near by boat rental called spring wood cottages. They will deliver the boat to you and allows you to really explore the lake, which is huge and breathing taking! Also would highly recommend going to the cardinal cafe, which is a 2 mins drive 10 min walk. It’s an old church that was renovated and they have the nicest staff working there! The food is excellent and the coffee is amazing! Basically your local equivalent to Starbucks (if not better). The boat launch is just a short walk up from the street as well. You will come back home wishing you never had an end date to your trip. Also, whoever has previously reviewed saying that the stairs were steep and a slipping hazard clearly can not walk down a normal pair of stairs to begin with. There fine, just go slow and put one leg in front of the other. There are zero negatives about this space.

  • Great place to stay with a cozy feel, beautiful view and nice sandy beach for the kids. The fishing was great too.

    Chris2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely spot! Great swimming with a sandy bottom and lots of wildlife sightings- frogs, a fox, a beaver, a mink and oh those loons. Carolyne is an attentive host. The cottage is very well outfitted. If you’re a morning person, the sunrises are stunning. Many thanks for such a relaxing getaway. Eleanor

    Eleanor2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage has everything! Carolyne has taken great care to ensure the place is properly stocked with everything you would have at home — pantry items, lots of beach towels, all sorts of bathroom and shower essentials, cleaning supplies, bug spray, binoculars, batteries, floaty toys....the list goes on! The location is super gorgeous with little islands scattered throughout Bob’s Lake and lots of cute wildlife sightings (turtles, otters, a fox, frogs, and vibrant dragonflies). The lake is quite tucked away and requires a short drive on a narrow gravel road, the neighbours are very friendly and helpful, and Carolyne was very easy to communicate with. My friends and I would absolutely recommend if you’re looking for a nature getaway remote enough from the city but not super isolated as there’s lots of nearby neighbours. Thanks for the great weekend :)

    Leona2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Carolyne was very prompt in replying to questions before the stay, and her comments and information were beyond helpful. The cottage was lovely, with a sandy area for walking into the water and nice Muskoka chairs to sit in down by the dock. We enjoyed canoeing, swimming, playing the many games that were provided, playing badminton, and cooking, with every kitchen supply provided. We truly had a delightful time and could not have asked for a more gracious and generous host.

    Jennifer2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our time at Carolyns. House was great, clean,up to date, view of lake was wonderful. If u want relaxing and quiet vacation hard to beat. Would go back in heartbeat

    Kirk2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was very clean and all we had expected for quiet and beautiful location. Carolyne had left us clear instructions and was very attentive on preparing for us for our arrival and departure. We appreciated having a canoe available to paddle around the lake with a highlight having been able to see a few of the local Loons in calling up close. We would recommend this listing and Bob's Lake experience to other nature seekers and as a beautiful setting to relax!

  • Wonderfully peaceful location . The cottage is nearly brand-new so everything is very nice. Very comfortable stay !

    Robert2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • It's surprising how modern and stylish this cottage really is! In the middle of the woods, surrounded by much older cottages this is basically a brand new house with access to 2 docks as well as its own beach. BBQ, Kayaks and water inflatables in the summer made it even more of a blast. Highly recommend!! Lori & Rustin are great! Just be sure to bring strong bug spray in the summer months because you are in the middle of the woods after all.

  • A short drive from Bon Echo park our cabin was perfect for our needs ... we were able to barbque, enjoy campfire, fishing, beach and paddle boats all within feet of the cabin . We could hear the loons at night and enjoyed all the nature that surrounded the cabin . A great value ... we will come again

  • The water is so clean and it was the perfect spot for me and my friends to have a genuine cottage experience. You do have neighbours but everyone was there to relax and have a good time. The hosts were very kind and considerate when we brought our dogs.

  • Great location and very nice neighbors

    Ed2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is an amazing escape from the city. The lake is beautiful for swimming there is a fire pit for night time relaxing and there is enough space in the cottages to have meals together and play games indoors (we were a group of 7). We had some really bad weather (a tornado warning) and really high winds which caused hard slamming of one of the cabin doors. There was a little damage to one of the doors and John was very understanding and kind when i informed him. John also repsonds very quickly which helped to ease my anxiety over the door being slightly damaged, allowing me to continue enjoying my time there. There is no wifi or service which can be really nice to be off grid for a weekend. I do suggest you bring some kitchen items (Sharp knives for cutting, garbage bags, paper towel, tongs, serving spoons, etc.) But there are utensils, cooking items, and plates available, along with some other useful items. As seen in previous reviews, the neighbours can be a little obnoxious, but not in any way that would make you not enjoy your time there. I would definitely come back again!! We all had a blast!

    Sasha2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • BEAUTIFUL LOCATION, awesome neighbor,(Gordon and family) they took us out on a boat tour when he saw that my boat was not working ,always willing to help out. have a couple of photos to see how beautiful the cottages were and water was so nice and clear, will hopefully send them out soon, only thing was no bbq and poor wifi, but we took our own BBQ and were on vacation ,so who needs WIFI, just outside about an half our there is a nice little place called the social club were you can get free WIFI and enjoy a coffee at the same time ,if you still want to be connected to the world again thanks John for a nice greeting when we arrived and for a beautiful vacation

  • Loved the lake view! The place was clean and neat, and John was very friendly and helpful.

  • We had a wonderful relaxing few days at Johns cabin! John was a fantastic host, responding promptly and was very understanding and flexible. The cabins are perfectly rustic, just what we hoped for! Lovely view on the small quiet bay. We caught a 34" pike and a 19" small mouth, so a good lake for fishing! We adored the screen porch on the bigger cabin as it rained some so we had a place to keep dry and still enjoy the view. Highly recommend Johns cabins. Thanks for sharing them with us! S&J

  • Fantastic lake cottage living. Dynamite fishing, great nature and seclusion. There are people next door but you would never know they are there. There is a well that may be potable but we brought all our own drinking water. The water to the house is right out of the lake via a pump that worked perfectly. The hot water in both cottages did not work OR we could not figure out how to turn it on. We had access to both cottages which was huge for my kids. I thought I was signing up for one. We will definitely be back.

  • We ventured out to Tara’s place for a Mom getaway, and it did not disappoint!! Peaceful, relaxing, and very beautiful. The pictures do not do the place justice. Tara is an amazing host, extremely hospitable, and very quick to respond. We had an amazing time and hope to come back again next year. Thank you Tara!

  • Tara is a wonderful host, very attentive and organized. We felt welcomed upon arrival and quickly made ourselves comfortable. This cottage has it all- privacy, nature, and all the amenities needed to enjoy your time. During our stay we had 5 guests in total and everyone loved it! We made great memories by the campfire, enjoyed the bbq, napped in the hammock and soaked up all the sunshine on the dock. We will definitely be back again!

  • A beautiful cottage on a quiet clean and clear lake. The cottage itself is immaculately clean and has everything you would need to relax and unwind including board games, badminton, ring toss, and a couple of other fun games which I don't know the name of (ie. Hook the ring on a string to the hook). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

  • Five stars, will be back again, next time we’ll try in the summer though ;) - thank you John and Abbey for an excellent stay!

  • Beautiful private place. Very clean washroom, anything you need is there. John offers logs for bonfires which is convenient since closest store would be 20 min away. He also offered his canoe for small fee. We asked for extra blankets for night and he immediately provided. 15 min walk to lake. Very untouched nature beautiful jungle around us. We saw a deer in the woods which was amazing. Very large property. There is also drinkable water but no electricity. However the bonkie and washroom both had lights powered by solar panels. I would for sure go back next summer.

    Sara2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Bunkie #1 and it was exactly as pictured. Like another reviewer said, there were no bugs in the bunkie. The bathroom was clean and clean towels were provided. The water in the shower was hot and the pressure was good. The main house was close by for when we needed firewood. We could see the campfire from Bunkie #2 through the trees, but it still felt very private. All in all, an amazing place to stay!

    Nalini2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a great time staying in Bunkie #1. It’s was such a peaceful private stop with great hiking trails on site or a close drive away! John was so quick to respond to any questions I had and I would highly recommend!

  • Beautiful spot. Amazingly peaceful. Thank you John and Abbey!

    Jeremy2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect! The cabin is nicely secluded but close enough to the washroom and main house. Comes with a hose which is ideal for dishes and washing your hands/feet. Bring bug spray for the evening as the mosquitos tend to come out when the sun goes down. We will be back for sure!

    Trevor2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • It’s my second time coming to John & Abbeys place. They are the best hosts, and the place is absolutely stunning. Definitely recommend

  • Great tranquil country place for a good little get away. The bunkie was super cute and very cozy. We also had a lot of fun sitting by the fire and watching stars. It is definitely a place we would visit again.

It was late when we arrived and Arlette offered us freshly-baked muffins and even cooked chicken pasta for us - we were absolutely touched by their warm hospitality. The room was very stylish and sparkling clean. The house is close to the lake and has great views. Greg gave us some great outdoors tips around the area - we didn’t expect Sharbot Lake to be this charming and it was an unforgettable experience!

Beautiful, clean cabin with everything you need on Big Gull Lake. Stylishly decorated, great views, amazing swimming area, screened in porch and hiking. Get away from it all. Enjoy your morning coffee while watching the sun rise and the loons swim around the island. The cabin is right by the water there are two docks and great dinning area on one off them for outdoor dinners and refreshments. Two double beds, one pull out couch. Access to canoes and kayaks, lifejackets and paddles.
Canoes and BBQs (bring your own charcoal)
Sharbot Lake is 30 minutes away, great hiking trails and camping available nearby. Day access to amazing campsites on the lake, but permits are needed for over night camping. There is a public boat launch nearby if you want to bring a larger boat.
  • Our family with kids enjoyed an amazing weekend at this charming cottage that exudes Canadian "Up North" authenticity. Above-average across the board but standouts were the excellent canoes, the great fire pit, the comfortable dock dining area, the swimming, and more. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, and the screened-in porch was down-home cozy with a giant view. We saw beavers and loons up close from the property (Canadian, eh?) and anglers both young and old had lucky times from the dock. Overall, we can't compliment William and his rental enough. We will return!

    Ken2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and 3 friends came up to fish and relax and that is exactly what we got. The fishing was ok, quite a few bass and a couple walleye. The cottage had everything we needed, a complete kitchen and comfortable beds . Great location . Cottage owner was only a text away when we had a question with a quick response. We are considering returning next year.

  • William is always ready and available to help with any questions or concerns you might have while you’re at his cabin. The property is one of a kind and offers great views of Big Gull Lake. You feel at home when you’re there, and you’ll wish it was your home as well. Will definitely return in the future!

  • Will was an excellent host and made booking and accessing his place easy! Local flowers, coffee and cookies were a great treat upon arrival. The cabin is beautiful with all the rustic charm you want with all the modern amenities in place to make your stay easy. The dock beside the boathouse is a great place to sit and watch the cottage life all around and take in the wildlife. The included canoes and kayaks were wonderful ways to explore the lake and take in the great fishing. Thanks for having us! We’d love to return sometime.

  • We loved our stay at this cabin and had an absolute blast over the weekend. The screened in porch was the perfect place to watch the lake, have coffee and save ourselves from the bugs. We spent all day down by the dock and used the canoes and kayaks provided to explore out on the water. The lake was so warm! Would definitely go back again.

This Rustic Island Retreat is an amazing property! This cottage is beautifully situated 80' from the lake on an acre lot atop a tree-covered hill. The three bedroom seasonal cottage was built in the 1970s and boasts a stunning eastern view of the lake which makes for spectacular sunrises as the sun glints off the water’s surface. I love enjoying this time of day with a morning coffee on the deck swing or on an early morning boat or kayak tour of the lake.
Location The cottage is nestled in a quiet cove on Birch Island in the pristine waters of Bobs Lake in the South Frontenac County. As it is located on an island, the cottage is accessible by boat only. Please note, the rental does not include a boat. Boats can be launched at the nearby Pineshores Marina (1.1 km from the cottage). Boat launching as well as car and trailer parking is also available at the Marina free of charge. With its breathtaking scenery around every corner, Bobs Lake promises to be one of the most beautiful lakes you will ever see. And, at just over 322 km (12.422 miles), it is one of Canada's largest wilderness lakes boasting 640 km (400 miles) of shoreline to explore as well as many coves and islands. The lake is joined to a number of other bays and lakes, such as Crow Lake giving visitors plenty to explore. Potable Water Running water in the bathroom and kitchen is pumped up from the lake and is not potable, but fine for washing dishes and showering or bathing. Guests will need to bring their own drinking water for their tea, coffee, washing vegetables, cooking, brushing teeth, etc. Bathroom The cottage includes a full bathroom with combination tub/shower, sink and of course indoor toilet. Toilet paper is provided for our guests but you will need to bring your own towels, face cloths, luffa, soap shampoo and other toiletries. Sleeping Accommodations This is a three bedroom cottage. The main bedroom has a double bed, small closet, dresser and mirror. The 2nd bedroom has a bunkbed with a double bed on the bottom and a twin bed on top, a dresser and shelving unit. The 3rd bedroom has a bunkbed with two twin beds a small closet, dresser and mirror. There is also a futon in the living room that opens into another double bed. In total the cottage can sleep up to 9 people. Guest are also welcome to pitch a tent in the yard if they wish. Linens such as sheets, pillow cases, comforters, etc. are not provided. Living Room The living room includes a futon, coffee table, flat screen TV, DVD player, and portable stereo. There is also a small selection of games, puzzles, playing cards, and reading material available for those looking to take a break from screens. Kitchen I’ve always believed that one of the biggest parts of the whole cottage experience is the food. The cottage includes a well-appointed kitchen and I have endeavored to equip it with everything required to prepare delicious meals for your friends and family, including: plates, bowls, saucers, knives, forks, spoons, placemats, 14 piece knife set, cutting board, pots, pans, roasting pan, dutch oven, mixing bowls, strainer, skewers, wine classes, beer mugs, glassware, travel mugs, coffee mugs, tea cups, dish cloths, tea towels, and dish soap. Appliances include refrigerator, range/oven, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, coffee maker (filters provided). There is also a propane BBQ on the deck (propane provided). Dining Area Inside the cottage there is a dining table and chairs that can sit up to 4 comfortably or 6 if you don’t mind getting a little cozy. The kitchen island can also seat an additional two people. There is also a patio set on the large screened porch that can seat up to 6 more people if required. Nature/Wildlife For the nature lover, Bobs Lake is home to a host of wildlife including: great blue herons, bald eagles, loons, ducks, hawks, humming birds, finches, woodpeckers, turtles, lake otters, racoons, red squirrels and chipmunks. When staying at the cottage, one of my favorite things is sitting by the fire listening to the loons call to each other as dusk falls on the lake. Some mornings I will even find a heron fishing off the dock. Groups of turtles can be observed sunning themselves most mornings on the rocks all over the lake. There is even a lake otter that has made its home on the property in the undergrowth along the water’s edge. If you are lucky you just might spot it bringing home its evening catch. Fishing Fishing at Bobs Lake is incredible! The lake has been featured on several fishing programs and even on the World Fishing Network! There are also a few vlogs regarding the fishing on Bobs Lake for those serious anglers that want to do their homework before deciding to visit. With hundreds of kilometres of shoreline and covering over 7000 acres, Bobs lake is an amazing lake to fish. There are 15 confirmed fish species in the lake. There is a drop off approx. 50 meters from the cottage dock that is very popular with anglers. Complementary fishing rods and tackle available at the cottage but this is lower end equipment and so it is recommended that serious anglers bring their own gear. Please note that you will need an Ontario fishing licence. The cost of the licence varies depending on whether you want a sport or conservation licence. Each permits different catch limits. Licences can be purchased and most outdoors stores or online. Stuff to do This area of Eastern Ontario is delightful with winding roads, small towns and Provincial Parks to visit. The historic city of Kingston is under an hour away. With its many museums and summer festivals throughout the summer it makes a great destination for a day trip. Ottawa is also only 139 km (1 hr 37 mins) away for those that don’t mind doing a little driving. A visit to the waterfront town of Westport should not be missed and the annual Perth garlic festival in the second week of August is also something worth experiencing. The nearby town of Sharbot Lake also offers mini-put, a public beach, restaurants and coffee shops. The cottage is a fantastic place for family gatherings and there is plenty to do with the kids. • Very nice and cute cottage with a stunning view overlooking a lake. The cottage description was accurate and there were no surprises. We were 5 of us and it was the perfect size. A 6th person could have been added easily, but more seems hard. The communication with Candace and Brice was clear and smooth and it was very much appreciated to have a late check-out . I would recommend the cottage to anyone willing to discover the region!

  • This was a great time of year to visit this chalet; the view from the deck was breathtaking. Very peaceful location, loved having the 1 and 1/2 baths, bright and spacious. All the basic amenities were supplied. We would stay here again.

  • Everything you need for the quintessential Ontario cottage experience! The lake was beautiful, the view was stunning. Even though there are neighbours you feel completely at peace and alone. We loved it very much.

  • Truly an amazing experience and location! This is the place if you want to have access to warm water, water activities such as kayaking, swimming and fishing. We love sitting on the deck, bbqing, hanging on the dock. It’s an amazing value for a truly cottage experience. There’s lots of room and space for our family of 4. Five stars! Absolutely breathtaking view of the lake! Pictures can’t compare to being there in person.
