Places to stay in Cerney Wick
  • We arrived for a Christmas week away and I genuinely couldn’t have asked for anymore. The area, the chalet, the little touches exceeded all of our expectations. We prepared all of our Christmas decorations to try and make our stay festive only to arrive to a real Christmas tree already decorated, we would never of expected this but it really just shows how much effort goes into every bodies stay. -More than enough parking. -Amazing for dogs. -Perfect local pubs. -Incredibly clean. -Beautiful decor and open spaces. If we ever happen to need to stay in the local area we will be back in a heart beat. Thank you very much

  • The cottage is very comfortable, has lots of high end features and is in a lovely quiet location. The hosts went that extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our stay. I cannot recommend this highly enough, deserves a six star rating.

My apartment is newly renovated and decorated. I would describe my deco as being modern and feminine. I invite fun and laughter into my home
This apartment is in a great location! North Swindon is beautiful, quite and central place to live. There is a Tesco express one black away. You can see it from the bedroom :) 0.7 miles away there is a really really nice Shopping Center that features various stores (Asda, New Look, Boots etc) as well as various dining options (McDonalds, Nando’s and Costa) along with a very nice gym. Swindon is a great central location with London, Reading, Bath, Bristol and Oxford being very easy to get to. Swindon offers a small town feel however there is so much to do. Old Town offers a fun night out with various pubs, clubs and bars on offer. During the day Town Center offers loads of shopping options and various museums and parks that that are fun for everyone
  • Great stay as always :)

Sky Sports and Movies available through the playstation which can be enjoyed in the living room or taken to your bedroom as you wish. Private off-road parking space available if notified in advance. • Amazing cottage in a great location to explore the Cotswolds. Laura has excellent communication and was so helpful in our trip. Having her as your host is like having a friend in the area you can ask for advice from. The cottage was immaculate, comfortable, and well designed. The bed's comfort got rave reviews from my wife! Would definitely book again!

Converted in 2018, our outbuilding offers a modern take on a country suite. With separate bedroom, en-suite and large living space the detached annex is great for couples or singles to spend a few days away on the edge of the Cotswold Water Park - brilliant for walking and (flat!) cycling. Located at the end of a small residential cul-de-sac in the small village of Latton, we are close to the A419 giving perfect access to M4 and M5, great for those staying away for work.
Living room with sofa, tv and dining table. Bedroom with double bed (with drawers underneath) and bedside tables. En-suite with shower, WC and sink There is no kitchen, but kettle, toaster, microwave and small fridge provided. Sole use, secure bike / boot store attached to the rear of the annex - great for walking and cycling. Please let us know if you wish to use this and we will provide keys.
The Cotswold Water Park is all around us, great for walking and cycling or sailing, canoeing and swimming for the more adventurous. The market town of Cirencester (aka the capital of the Cotswolds) is 5 miles away.
  • I have stayed here before & it didn’t disappoint. Great hosts & a great place to stay with everything you need for your comfort. Highly recommended.

  • Jon & Laura are fantastic hosts who are working through this Covid-19 lockdown in order to provide a keyworker like myself with a ‘home from home’ in order for me to do my job. Much appreciated, Lorraine 😀

    Lorraine2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Jon & Laura’s place was great! There is a living room with sofa & TV, as well as an area to make tea/coffee/snacks and a small table a chairs (there was also a kettle, toaster, microwave and small fridge). The bedroom was lovely, with an extremely comfortable bed (which is a must for me!). There is an ensuite shower room off the bedroom which was very stylish and had lovely thick fluffy towels! Communication with Laura was great and I was able to check in early as there was no one staying there the night before. The location was also very good, just a couple of minutes drive to Cotswolds Water Park. I would definitely stay here again!

    Claire2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • Brilliant location, clean and stylish space. Jon and Laura delightful.

    Alison2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights to celebrate our anniversary and it was such a lovely weekend. Laura was very communicative throughout the whole stay but didn't intrude. There was a lovely homely feel to the annexe that made us feel relaxed almost instantly. The bed was comfy and the en suite was beautiful! There is a microwave, fridge and toaster in the annexe which is perfect for a couple of nights. It is a short drive to Cricklade where there are a few shops and restaurants. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a home away from home.

Double bed in quiet owner-occupied newly built house near lake. Possibly another AirBnB guest staying in another room sharing the bathroom (or could be myself or girlfriend). We may or may not be there face-to-face for check-in (if not we we provide a key) and we usually have minimal contact during the stay other than for queries and/or messages via the AirBnB app. As we like to keep our property quiet and relaxing, we are ideal for quiet people who go to bed before 10:30pm and raise after 7am.
Use of room and bathroom. Use of kitchen for the microwave and to store a a couple of items in the fridge is OK if you let us know in advance. If you want to use the kitchen for anything more than that then there is an extra charge, usually £10 per night. As we are regularly cooking ourselves, please let us know before you arrive or there will likely not be space!
Situated in Cotswold Water Park. Easy drive to Cirencester, Swindon and Malmesbury, along with the A419 and M4.

Large double bedroom with ensuite and TV in a modern detached house, tidy and neutrally decorated. Good access to transport routes with plenty of free parking. Note I have children who use the property. It is unlikely you will see them much.
The rooms are good sized double rooms with their own bath/shower rooms. The house is located in the north Swindon suburbs a short drive from local amenities and major transport routes.
It's a quiet suburban area, close to the country side so very green and immediately opposite a park. A very pleasant place to stay.

Nothing says holidays like a hot tub. After dinner’s done and the night is but young, fire up the bubbles and watch the panoramic view of the sun setting over the lake from your private secure deck. This is just one of the magical moments you can experience whilst staying at Lapwing Lake Lodge. Perched on the water’s edge, Lapwing Lake Lodge is a chic New England-style retreat with plenty of room for six plus pooch. The pretty clapper board-style exterior and fantastic water-front setting make a brilliant first impression. The convenience of the location within steps of a family-friendly lakeside bar, brasserie, gym and a great children's play area come a close second. Located on Spring Lake, our lake house has prime position in the Cotswold Water Park, one of the best kept secrets of Gloucestershire! One of 150 lakes in an area the size of Jersey, there’s so much to explore and something for everyone. Wildlife, watersports, activities, great eateries, walking, history and culture are just some of the things you will find nearby.
The lake house itself has been stylishly renovated to mirror its setting, offering super lake views from inside and out. Downstairs, it’s fully open plan complemented by stunning bi-folding doors that stretch across the back of the house. They ensure the house is filled with calm and tranquil light whilst showing the lake off in all its charming glory. An ever changing picture of water-skiers, swans and rippling water can be enjoyed from the comfort of the sofa, or fold the doors back and the living area takes on a new and exciting feel. The outside space becomes an extension to the house, providing the perfect spot for sizzling steaks on the barbecue. Or simply sitting back to enjoy lakeside life while your own hot tub bubbles invitingly and watch the world go by. Upstairs there is a large master bedroom with a full length window overlooking the lake, allowing you the same stunning views, two further bedrooms and a family bathroom. Extra care has been taken for families, and you will find lots of special touches around the house if you are planning on taking the little ones. The light bright interiors with family-friendly luxuries are added bonuses, whilst the fact that there’s a spa, golf course, water sports centre, bike hire and routes, plus a choice of restaurants and pubs, within a short, scenic walk really sets it apart. Although, for most young families, the fact that the UK’s largest inland beach with a purpose built toddler paddling and playground area is within a 10-15 minute stroll is the icing on the cake. THE LAYOUT Ground floor: Open plan living space with sitting and dining areas seating six. Bifold doors open out onto a private deck with superb lake views. A U-shaped kitchen with breakfast bar and stools is set slightly apart from the living area. Shower room with WC First floor: Master bedroom with 5′ king size bed and a pretty Juliette balcony with amazing views over the lake. There is also room for a cot. Double bedroom with 4’6″ bed. Twin bedroom with 2’6″ beds which can convert into a kingsize bed. Family bathroom with a bath, overhead shower and children’s bathing accessories. IN A NUTSHELL 6 Guests Three bedrooms: two doubles, one twin/double One bathroom, one shower room Suitable for children and baby (cot, highchair and stairgate available) Up to two well-behaved dogs welcome on request (small additional fee applies*) Private secure deck onto lake with hot tub, table and chairs and barbecue Welcome hamper, linen and toiletries Surrounding shared outdoor space and children’s playground Bike hire with child seats/trailers can be pre-booked Spa, gym, golf course, water sports centre, bike hire and routes, plus a choice of restaurants and pubs on site Heavily discounted spa passes Parking for two cars EQUIPMENT Electric wall heaters Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer-dryer Flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD player WiFi internet access Private outdoor heated hot tub Outdoor dining furniture and barbecue
Along with its lakeside setting one of the house’s greatest assets is the amount that there is to see and do nearby for families and young children. Within a minute’s stroll is the Lakeside Brassiere which boasts a family friendly sports bar, a relaxed family restaurant with a sun terrace overlooking the lake. A fully air conditioned gym is located above the brasserie with a range of equipment. Should you be staying for a prolonged period a monthly membership can be purchased, but the gym also offers a highly reasonable single use fee option. Within 50 metres of the lodge is a large children’s play area with climbing frame, monkey bars and fireman pole. Lakeside Ski & Wake offer wakeboard and waterski lessons on the lake, plus sessions as well as fun rides for all the family on their ringos and other inflatables. These all prove irresistible to most families in the summer months, not least since thanks to a special skimmer board. From beginners to experts, everyone is welcome. Next to the house is a small shingle beach area popular with the little ones for paddling. From the deck you can feed swans and ducks that are very friendly, but far enough away to stop little ones from feeling intimidated. About a 5 minutes’ walk away, there’s a cable ski and a buzzing cafe bar reachable on pushchair friendly flat paths and roads. Located opposite Spring Lake is the South Cerney Outdoor Education Centre which offers sailing, canoeing, and paddle boarding activities and courses. Bike hire, angling and even the biggest inland beach in the UK are all within a mile or two. Located on the other side of the Spine Road, a 10 minute walk from Spring Lake, is Spa 6, one of the premier spas in the Cotswolds, located within the Four Pillars Cotswold Water Park Hotel. Treatments include: Volcanic Hot Stone Back Massage, “Indian Sandalwood” Soothing Scalp Massage and “Exotic Orange Blossom Ritual” Face and Body Treatment. Not forgetting of course, a state-of-the-art gymnasium and hydrotherapy pool. The house is also within walking distance to the local village of South Cerney which offers a number of local amenities including a selection of pubs, takeaways, village shops, post office and a hairdressers. Lapwing Lake Lodge is ideally situated too for exploring the towns and villages of the beautiful Cotswolds region. The well-known quintessential English villages of Stow-on-the-Wold, Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water, and Moreton-in-the-Marsh, are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cirencester known as ‘The Capital of the Cotswolds’, is 4 miles away, giving easy access to excellent shopping, restaurants, entertainment, ancient buildings and museums. Cheltenham (20 miles), the most complete regency town in England, is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, Cheltenham hosts Festivals of Jazz, Classical Music, Science, Literature, Food & Drink. Highgrove House, one of the homes of Prince Charles, is less than half an hour’s drive as is Westonbirt Arboretum, with its stunning new treetop walkway, the longest in the UK. Appealing to children in particular, the nearby Cotswold Wildlife Park, the numerous attractions at Bourton-on-the-Water, and Cotswold Farm Park provide plentiful entertainment. The cities of Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham and Oxford are all under an hour’s drive away. Located just over an hour from London, it’s the ideal place for families or a group of friends to spend time together at any time of the year.
  • This property is very spacious with super underfloor heating an excellent location with an awesome view of the lake, our host Kevin arrived the same time as us, he was most pleasant and full of local knowledge, we were here with storm Denis and still had an awesome stay

    Ray2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant weekend celebrating a big birthday. The hot tub was brilliant and so lovely to look out over such a wonderful view. Kevin was very friendly and helpful and offered tips on pubs and walking routes. The kitchen was well equipped and there was also a lovely fresh baguette, butter and eggs left for us. The two twin rooms are super small but for our weekend it was no problem. You would need to use the main master bedroom for all your clothing and luggage but this has lots of storage and lovely views over the lake. The lake house club next door we’re very friendly and helpful when we decided a last minute take away was needed! A brilliant bolt hole for a weekend with friends.

    Lara2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The 6 of us had an absolutely amazing stay. The apartment is beautiful and spacious with gorgeous views onto the lake. The host Kevin was fantastic and extremely hospitable - he even fetched us when we weren’t able to get a taxi for which we are very grateful for - thanks Kevin. Thanks so much for a great stay! We thoroughly enjoyed it Will certainly return again.

  • Booked for my dad's 75th birthday - five of us, including a toddler. Clean, bright, sunny open-plan space was ideal for us all. The location is excellent - it's lovely to look out over the lake. Great communication from the start and super easy instructions on gaining access. And the hot tub was a great bonus on a damp October weekend.

  • Hi Kevin and team made our stay at Spring Lodge so much fun! We loved the property and the quality time spent in the Jacuzzi overlooking the lake. Special shout-out to Kevin for making us feel welcome and driving us to local attractions. You really made us feel welcome and went the extra mile when it comes to hospitality! Will definitely be staying at Lapwing Lodge again!!! Huge thanks!!!! Xx

Beautiful 18th-century Beehive Cottage, in the Cotswold village of Poulton, sleeps 6 guests across one king-size, one double and one twin bedroom. The cottage has a very well- equipped kitchen, a spacious living room with an inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove, a separate Snug with a work area, a spacious family bathroom with a bath and a downstairs shower room/utility. Outside is a large, pretty garden and off-street parking for two cars, with free on street parking readily available.
Introduction As you pull onto the gravelled drive at Beehive Cottage, in the village of Poulton, you’ll immediately feel a sense of serenity as the history and beauty of the cottage greets you. It is an archetypal Cotswold property, built in the 1760’s with Victorian additions – the type of home you see featured in property magazines and wish you could stay! The owner has renovated Beehive Cottage very sympathetically, maintaining the traditional character of the cottage yet providing every modern convenience with a contemporary but stunning interior design – including richly pigmented, eco-friendly Farrow & Ball paints - plus everything you need for a thoroughly pampered, self-catered Cotswold holiday. Beehive Cottage’s front door is framed by wisteria and passionflower, with thick swathes of lavender in the garden’s raised beds, attracting butterflies and bees in the summertime. French doors open from the Kitchen-Dining area to an outdoor seating area, which wraps round the cottage to further seating and a barbecue. Steps leads up to a lawn, with mature planting, and a second large table, where you can sit and enjoy the last rays of evening sunshine looking back towards the cottage. The traditional character of Beehive Cottage, including a stunning inglenook fireplace (with a secret stone staircase behind winding up to Bedroom 3), original oak beams and exposed Cotswold stone walls combines fabulously with the carefully chosen modern amenities, including a fully equipped kitchen with 6-ring hob, a shower/utility room, a family bathroom, WiFi, a Smart TV, Bose speaker, a Snug with work area (for guests who have to check in to the office) and exquisite, decorations throughout the cottage that have been hand-painted by the owner. Poulton is a small but thriving Cotswold village with a traditional British pub, The Falcon Inn, serving British modern food, and featuring locally brewed cask ales. The village has a church (St Michael’s and All Angels) and a children's playground and playing field, called ‘Englands’, directly across the lane from the cottage. A traditional summer fete is held each year on the first Sunday after the August Bank Holiday. The closest food shops to the cottage are in Fairford, approximately 3 miles away (see ‘Local Amenities’). (please note: Poulton no longer has a village shop.)  FACILITIES  Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms across 1 king-size double bedroom, 1 standard double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom (2 singles)  2 bathrooms: 1 family bathroom (Bath, toilet, wash basin); 1 ground floor shower room (walk-in shower, toilet, wash basin)  Parking: driveway, with parking space for two cars. Two sofas and an armchair provide comfy seating for six guests to watch the Smart TV and enjoy the wood burning stove, while a window seat is the perfect place to perch and read a book. During renovation work, a stone stairway was unearthed behind the fireplace, leading up to the twin bedroom; providing a fascinating glimpse into the cottage’s past. (Although the staircase is open, the owners do not recommend using it as it is steep, narrow and uneven. A lock is provided on the twin bedroom door to prevent younger guests in that bedroom from using the staircase.) The cottage’s main staircase leads up from the Living Room to the three bedrooms and Family Bathroom Turn left down two stone steps to: The Snug-Study A delightful room between the kitchen and Living Room featuring flagstone flooring with a cosy, richly coloured rug, a desk (with pens, paper and colouring pencils), an antique glass-fronted bookcase with novels and local guides, and a two-seater leather sofa and an armchair with a footstool, perfectly placed to watch a meal being prepared or relax in the quiet of the Snug. Pass through an arch to: The Kitchen/Dining Area The bright and airy dual-aspect kitchen/dining room has French doors opening out to the garden and seating area, and a window over the sink overlooking the barbecue area. The kitchen is fully equipped to a very high standard, with everything you would need for a self-catered stay, including a Leisure range-style electric cooker, with a double oven, grill and six-ring hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee machine, plus a superb range of crockery, bakeware, cutlery and glassware. Guests are provided with a starter supply of essentials, including teabags, Nespresso pods, instant coffee, fresh milk, oils, salt and pepper and cooking condiments. The large dining table comfortably seats six guests. Off the Living Room: Shower Room/Utility Through a door off the Living Room is the handy downstairs Shower Room/Utility with a walk-in corner shower (with hand-held and overhead shower), toilet, wash basin and heated towel radiator. The cottage’s Hotpoint washing machine is in this room, along with an outdoor and indoor airer for drying clothes, an iron and ironing board. Upstairs Stairs up from the Living Room lead to the carpeted landing and the cottage’s three bedrooms: Bedroom Three The first bedroom at the top of the stairs is the pretty twin bedroom, with exposed oak eaves, charming artwork, two single beds and a day sofa, all carefully arranged to provide plenty of room to walk around. The bedroom is furnished with bedside chests and lamps, a corner hanging rail, and a lovely window seat overlooking the garden’s outdoor seating area. A door at the back of the room opens to the steep, secret staircase down to the Living Room. This door can be bolted to stop young children using it. Bedroom Two Cross the landing to Beehive’s king-size bedroom, with its soft-yellow walls and accents of pink and red. Guests can watch the world go by, sitting in the window seat while reading a book from the wide selection of novels from the bedroom’s bookcase. The room is furnished with a sink-in KING bed, half-height wardrobe, a bedside chest of drawers with a reading light, and an impressive mirror. Hairdryer in drawer. Bedroom One At the end of the landing, up two stairs, is the master bedroom, affectionately known by the owner as the Butterfly Room, which features a sink-in, double-size bed and walls decorated with beautifully hand-painted butterflies. The room is furnished with a handsome, cherry wood chest of drawers and dressing table, bedside tables with reading lamps and a hanging rail with a shoe rack. With windows on three sides, overlooking the garden and the road below, the master bedroom is bright and light, but has exquisite hand-made, heavy curtains and a blind to ensure a really good night’s sleep. Family Bathroom Located next to Bedroom One, the Family Bathroom is practical yet exudes relaxation at the same time, with its painted wooden floor, half-panelled soft-grey walls and an intricately hand-painted partridge, complimented by a series of antique birds’ egg paintings. The bathroom features a full-length bath, with luxury bubble bath provided, a toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. Outside Beehive Cottage has a charming garden with a lawn and a gravelled area with seating and parking for two cars. Wisteria and passionflower frame the front door and climb up to the bedroom windows, while in the summertime lavender blooms fill the air with their scent, attracting bees, butterflies and birds. Step through the French doors in the Kitchen to the outdoor seating area, with its oblong-shaped table, seating for eight and charcoal barbecue. Beyond the parking area, up a few steps, is an immaculate lawn with raised beds and an original beehive – no longer in use!

  • Beehive Cottage is a treasure, and we are so thankful for the privilege of having stayed in this wonderful home. We loved the care and thought that the owner put into restoring and updating her home, and we are so very grateful to the manager and caretaker for being such caring stewards of this masterpiece. Leaving was bittersweet - sad to go, but happy that we might visit again soon.

  • This is a marvelous place to stay. So sweet and cozy, everything was perfect. I hope we get to come back someday!

  • The perfect place for a cosy weekend getaway. Beehive Cottage is beautiful and none of us wanted to leave! It’s warm and inviting and the personal touches meant such a lot. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you could need, the sitting room is cosy with a lovely wood burner which is easy to use. The whole house is beautifully furnished and is a quintessential Cotswold cottage! My friends and I had the perfect weekend away and we will certainly come back to beautiful Beehive. Thank you so much!!

    Sophie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage in quiet village, ideal for family get away where you cater for yourselves. Nice inn nearby for good food at reasonable prices. Cottage is well furnished and cosy and log burner provides idyllic homely feel. Only drawback was draft through doors and not all doors to rooms close fully, which does lend itself to a spooky feel when they open when you're trying to sleep!

    Scott2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous cottage Beehive is. My friends and I had the most perfect stay made all the more wonderful by the well stocked kitchen, the lovely welcoming touches, the comfy beds and sofas and the roaring fire. The cottage has been renovated beautifully and it was a pleasure to stay in. We can HIGHLY recommend eating at The Falcon Inn next door (make sure you book). The little village of Bibury is a short drive away and well worth a visit. A couple of tips for the house - bring slippers as the stone floors are cold, and the complimentary logs last 1 evening and there is nowhere local to buy more once you’ve had a glass of wine or two! So bring wood with you or buy some along the way so you have plenty. We will most definitely be back :)

    Hannah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, cosy, well-stocked cottage - the perfect retreat for 3 couples and a baby. We loved all the features, allowing for long meals and games in front of the fire. The house was sparkling clean throughout and the beds were very comfortable. The attention to detail was second to none - and the hand painted decoration is stunning. We also loved the home baked cake for our arrival, much needed after a long drive! Thank you so much.

Light and modern town house on the edge of Swindon, 5 minutes walk from the Orbital Shopping Centre, close to transport links into the town centre and to the M4, Cotswolds and beautiful countryside.
You have the choice of two double bedrooms. You have your own bathroom with over the bath shower as well as a separate WC with basin.
It's lovely and quiet in this part of Swindon. We are on the edge of the town but there is a great bus route just a short walk away that takes you into the town centre. The Orbital shopping centre, with a huge ASDA, M&S, Next, Costa, brand new Nandos, Boots etc. is five minutes walk away. There are a number of nice pubs, my favourite being the Manor Pub, again, 5 minutes walk along the cycle track from the house. We are 15 minutes walk from Mouldon Hill Park, which is beautiful, as well as road links to the Cotswolds and neighbouring villages.
  • Really nice place to stay. Comfy bed, slept really well. Really nice bathroom and shower. Very warm and clean. Lovely area. Jo herself is very friendly and helpful. Would recommend.

  • This is a very reasonable place to stay. Please do not choose to stay here if you require a modern, stylish hotel. This is a bedroom in Gemma’s old house. It is quirky and homely. It was easy to find, clean and comfortable. A cooked breakfast is not given, however, there is ample food provided for breakfast. I had porridge, fresh fruit, wholewheat bread (a toaster is available) and a pot of tea. There is a good selection of cereals so you won’t go hungry. Gemma has 3 rescue dogs that like to greet you - very friendly animals. We also found the house to be nice & quiet. Gemma is a sweetheart!

  • Gemma was one of the best AIRBNB hosts I’ve ever come across. Her house is very quirky and full of charm, and Gemma is a very hospitable host. The room was comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was delicious.

  • Excellent trip and stay. The hosts were very helpful and kind. Many Thanks. Tom

  • Gemma’s place is a quaint, cosy much loved home with 2 dogs, beautiful garden space & many collectables. How peaceful to watch finches & sparrows feeding as you enjoy your own breakfast or evening meal :) Gemma is very kind, caring, thoughtful & a lovely host. I enjoyed our stay with her & recommend her place to others.

    Diedre2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Gemma was a wonderful host and nothing was too much bother, you wouldn’t need to take a thing as she has everything there.

Charmingly renovated cottage, quintessentially Cotswold on the outside, calm and contemporary on the inside. Stunning handmade kitchen, fully equipped and boasting a beautiful AGA. The living room has a library feel, with huge squishy leather sofa, an Abu dance of books, TV, Wifi and digital radio. Upstairs the beamed bedroom space is cosy and romantic, with views of the gardens and surrounding countryside.
  • This cottage was such an amazing place to escape to. We felt very welcomed by the lovely Alan (and Ruby the dog!) and were left some amazing goodies to enjoy over the trip. The cottage was spotless and felt like a real treat to go back to after a day of exploring. We really enjoyed the hot tub too, even on a slightly drizzly day! (there is a roof above) Ideal for a relaxing get away for two, would highly recommend.

    Bethia2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Allan's place. Lovely quiet cottage with a well equipped kitchen, comfy sofa and very cosy bedroom and ensuite. We made good use of the hot tub and sauna which were free to use at any time. We felt very welcome and enjoyed having a glass of wine with Allan on one of the evenings. Would also recommend a trip into Cirencester which is lovely and has a fair amount to see.

    Emily2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage, just as delightfully as it looks in the pictures. Lovely peaceful gardens and surrounding countryside. All you could want .

    Oliver2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Photos do not do this place justice! We were overwhelmed with the cottage and it’s grounds. Allan and Ruby were incredible hosts and couldn’t have done any more! So many lovely extra touches such as fresh flowers, fresh bread and wine. Amazing stay and will definitely book to return again!

    Sarah2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Having read the other reviews before our visit I was very excited for our weekend away. The cottage 100% lived up to expectation and actually exceeded it. The cottage, house and surrounding grounds are beautiful and ell kept. The upgraded hot tub to the one in the photos was an awesome surprise. We didn't get to use the sauna, but a lovely facility that future guests are sure to make use of. Location was perfect for day tripping in the cotswold with pubs, restaurants and supermarkets all nearby. Overall an amazing spot tucked away in the beautiful Cotswolds. I hope we can make a return visit some day.

  • 10/10. Absolutely brilliant beautiful cottage with amazing gardens (all fully secure so the dogs could roam free). Allan was an absolutely fantastic host who could not have been more welcoming. The cottage is gorgeous, sparkling clean and so cute and cosy. Can’t wait to come back.

Welcome to The Hermitage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. The Hermitage is a romantic Cotswold stone cottage, located in the large grounds of a beautiful manor house in the picturesque village of Poulton, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Although small, Poulton has a well-regarded pub and a nice park close to the cottage. The village is five miles away from the Roman town of Cirencester, the largest market town in the Cotswolds, and is also close to many other picture-postcard Cotswold villages, including Bibury, Barnsley and Eastleach, with the stunning Coln Valley just a short drive away. As well as being close to the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, Poulton is also well placed for exploring further afield places, such as Oxford, Bath, or even a day-trip into London. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Sitting in the grounds of Poulton’s lovely manor house, The Hermitage is a charming, self-contained cottage. The lovely oak front door opens into the main room, and the following rooms are in the cottage: Bedroom/living room: A stylish and inviting space with stone mullion windows and a cosy wood burning stove. This large room contains a king size bed, a dining table with four chairs, an arm chair, small sofa and a Smart TV; Kitchen: A step leads down from the living area to the well-presented kitchen, which contains an electric oven, four ring induction hob, fridge, slimline dishwasher, washing machine, toaster and kettle; Bathroom: Located off the kitchen, the bathroom contains a large walk in shower, toilet and wash basin. Directly outside the cottage, there is a private, unenclosed garden area. This includes a peaceful patio area, with a table and four chairs, plus a charcoal barbecue. There is private parking for one car directly outside the cottage.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • The Hermitage is just as pictured. Well presented and very comfortable. Would highly recommend.

  • We spent four nights at The Hermitage and absolutely loved it. The cottage is beautifully decorated and so cosy with a great wood burner, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. We felt really at home there. Outside there is a beautiful walled vegetable garden and a really great pub opposite which had delicious food. The whole experience was a real treat and would definitely recommend it to everyone!

The Studio is a cosy single storey self-contained annexe to the owner's house in the Cotswold village of Poulton. Double bedroom, en suite shower room, fully equipped kitchen/living room with sofa bed, private courtyard garden. WiFi, underfloor heating, freesat TV, parking. Basic breakfast included. Great village pub nearby.
Bed linen and towels are provided. On-drive parking is available for two vehicles. The property is adjoined to the owner's family house, but is completely self-contained with its own access. There is space to store bicycles securely (behind a locked gate). To the rear there is a small, private courtyard garden. The property is self-catering but the cupboards are stocked with items for a basic breakfast, plus tea and coffee. The property is compact but well-equipped and newly decorated and furbished throughout. Everything is brand new and clean: the conversion was completed in January 2016. It will sleep two comfortably. There is also a double sofa bed which will sleep a further two people, but space is very limited when the sofa bed is extended, and it is a bit of a squeeze. Please also be aware that access to the toilet and shower room is through the bedroom. Babies and children of all ages are very welcome.
The village of Poulton has a shop, a well-equipped children's park, a church and a fantastic dining pub, The Falcon Inn, which is renowned for its quality food (booking for dinner, particularly at weekends, is advised, as they are often fully booked in advance). Poulton is also home to Performance Cycles (cycling club), and the area is very popular with cyclists at all levels. The village is well situated within the Cotswolds, 5 miles from Cirencester, 3 miles from Fairford, 4 miles from Bibury, and within a half-hour drive of Cheltenham, Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford, Malmesbury and Bourton-on-the-Water. Oxford, Bath and Stonehenge are all within an hour's drive. Kemble train station is 10 miles away, with the journey to London Paddington taking just under an hour and a half. Beautiful countryside is on the doorstep - just step outside and start walking! Nearby attractions include the Cotswold Wildlife Park, Cotswold Water Park (with watersports and a beach), the famous village of Bibury (described by William Wordsworth as "the most beautiful village in England") with its trout farm, Cirencester with its boutique shops, spa hotel, gastropubs and historic architecture, Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park, and Swindon's Steam Museum and designer shopping outlet centre. Oxford, Bath and Stonehenge are all within an hour's drive. National Trust attractions include Chedworth Roman Villa, Buscot Park and Hidcote Manor Gardens, and the fantastic Westonbirt Arboretum is also nearby. Local events include the Royal International Air Tattoo in July, the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Cheltenham Festival in March, the Cotswold Show in July, Cirencester's Phoenix Festival (family music weekend) in August, and WOMAD world music festival in July. Westonbirt Arboretum holds autumn colour events, and Colesbourne Park holds snowdrops walks in the winter.
  • Debbie and Phil's place is ideal in these difficult times. It is completely self contained with a seperate entrance. Perfect for social distancing. The kitchen is complete with an oven and hob, Fridge, Microwave, toaster and kettle. Cereals, porridge, milk, tea, coffee and sugar were all provided. Tesco Superstore and Aldi are 15 minutes away by car. If you are working in the area I highly recommend Debbie & Phil's annexe. Will definately return. Thankyou

Stone-built quality apartment on the southern outskirts of Cirencester. 15 mins walk to historic town centre (great restaurants!) and 5 mins to supermarkets. Close to Cotswold Water park, excellent nearby walks - including source of the River Thames.
Modern, convenient stone-built apartment with own private entrance. Open-plan living space with full kitchen (including stove, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, washer/dryer and dishwasher), dining table and sofa (seats 2-3 plus large foot stool). Fast wifi accessible in all rooms. Catch-up TV with bluetooth soundbar. Two double bedrooms with built-in wardrobe in main bedroom. Bathroom with bath and separate power shower cubicle. Instant hot water, always on.
Our apartment is on a quiet new estate on the southern side of Cirencester, very convenient for Cotswold Water Park and town centre. Cirencester has a wonderful historic centre with many fabulous shops and restaurants and an indoor market hall. We particularly like Cote and Jessie's restaurants for dinner and the Trouble House café (on the road to Tetbury) for great lunches and cakes!

  • Amazing flat in amazing peaceful location. The west facing balcony with views on the lake is absolutely beautiful and we spent all evening watching the sunset whilst listening to the birds. Magical experience. The flat has everything you need for a perfect stay. The lower mill estate is also wonderful with the swimming pools, playground for kids, local cafe and restaurant. We had a go at the adventure trail to do with kids. It was very fun and the treasure chests were very helpful to motivate our little one to keep walking! We had a wonderful stay as a family and we will be back for sure! There is no mobile reception or very poor which is worth mentioning but definitely adds to the peaceful holiday!!

  • We stayed on the Lower Mill Estate for the weekend with our small baby and family and had a great time. The apartment was contemporary, well equipped and had everything we needed given there are few places to eat out in close proximity. The highlight was the outdoor decking and we really enjoyed this space which was secure and private with gorgeous facing views of the lake. We would recommend this as a place to stay.

Large double bedroom with private bathroom and TV in a modern detached house, tidy and neutrally decorated. Good access to transport routes with plenty of parking.

Cirencester offers a farmers market, a selection of restaurants and is renowned for its boutique and art and craft shops. Ampney Crucis is just a short drive from the beautiful village of Bibury, as well as being within easy reach of Bourton on the Water, Lechlade and Burford. It is well located for various attractions such as Westonbirt Arboreatum, the Cotswold Wildlife Park as well as racing at Cheltenham.
  • It is such a lovely place to stay. The annexe is private and cosy. It was immaculate, very inviting and tidy. The surrounding area of Ampney Crucis is delightful too. Overall, I would highly recommend.

  • We had a super comfortable night, everything is really like the photos. The place is super nice, I would definitely go back to spend more time and get to know the place well. Thank you Fiona for your hospitality.

  • Fiona’s place was a perfect little spot to stay in by the Cotswolds, very nicely decorated and clean.

  • This is a lovely and stylish annexe near to the main house (but far away to be private). It has been decorated and equipped to a very standard. Amazingly comfortable bed, nice wet room and facilities for cooking (I wasn’t expecting a hob to be available so that was a pleasant surprise). Only met Fiona once, when I arrived and had difficulty finding the property in the dark and she appeared with a torch to show me in, but she stressed that I could call or visit the house if there was anything I needed - there wasn’t. Really relaxing stay and very close to the facilities available in Cirencester. Would absolutely recommend for a short stay in the Cotswolds. Thank you Fiona.

  • Very beautiful and comfortable. The room was very warm as well which was great since it was freezing outside. We had a bit of trouble finding the place as google map took us to a different location (which Fiona had pointed out in advance) hence she had provided directions beforehand but since we arrived late and there were no street lights it was hard to tell what was what and we got lost anyway. It may help to arrive while it is still light out. Communication was great and the cereals and drinks were a plus:) Would highly recommend!!

  • Just got back from a delightful stay - Fiona was a great host, with local tips (we really enjoyed our afternoon at The Crown of Crucis pub/restuarant) and great hospitality (fresh orange juice, milk and croissants were a treat). The space was impeccably clean, warm and cosy. Would highly recommend.

Please note I do NOT take 3rd party bookings. If you have no selfie you will have to contact me prior to booking. There's a local pub with good food, family friendly & not noisy. In the room is a kettle, tea & coffee. A small table & chair. My bathroom houses a bath with shower attachment, toilet + basin. It's a 20 min walk to the train station, trains are direct to London/South West. 5 mins more to the bus station & town centre. Bus stop at the end of the street. Free street parking.
On the lading is a refrigerator and a microwave should you wish to bring something with you, otherwise there are plenty of takeaway menus.
  • I had a great stay in Anne's place. It's got all the basic things I need for a comfortable few days working away from home.

  • It has everything you need for a one day stay. I liked everything, I just whished a better, harder matress, because this one was quite uncomfortable for my back. Otherwise I enjoyed my stay.
