The Loft is close to the amenities of Blairgowrie but very quiet and isolated on a hill top with spectacular views. It is also a midge free place with lots of swallows and house martins.
Zip and Link double/twin beds in bedroom and double sofa bed in large open plan living/dining room/ kitchen. All linen and towels provided. There is a log burning stove with a good supply of logs.
We love living on a working farm right on the edge of the Highlands, with mountains, rivers, lochs, stunning views, rich history, peace and quiet but very accessible.
  • Wow this place is amazing. Bette than in the pics and I thought the pics looked good. It's so cozy and unique. The view and surrounding area stunning. The facilities are great. The kitchen is so well equipped and there are lots of nice homely features. The log burner is great. So easy to use and there is ample wood supplied. The shower is great, powerful and hot. The bed is sooooooo comfy and the bedroom was heated with just an electric heater but it was so warm and cozy even when it was below freezing outside. It's also in a great location , just 5 minutes from a good size town , but also far out enough to hit some great walks and countryside from your doorstep. Lachlan took the time to show us around too and is very friendly. I would definitely reccomend this place to anyone

  • Lovely, peaceful place to stay, ideal for the Cairngorms and Glenshee, or just relaxing in the comfort of the loft. Our family of 4 visited in winter and it was very cozy once the wood stove was up and running. Great facilities throughout.

  • A home away from home with all the necessary amenities. Close enough to town to get supplies but far enough away that you feel like you are getting away from it all. The wood heater was great for warmth and atmosphere. Can’t wait to stay again.

Situated on a working farm in an elevated position above the Vale of Strathmore, Ardormie Farm Cottage is an ideal base to relax and explore this wonderful area of Scotland. The cottage is light and airy with open views over the countryside.
A cottage in the countryside with wide open views. Ardormie Farm Cottage is cosy in the winter and has a great little patio for sitting outside in the summer. Everything you need is right here; a double bedroom, bathroom with bath and shower overhead, cosy sitting/dining room and a little kitchen fully equipped with cooker, fridge, microwave and all you need to make your stay just perfect. We have just installed a new biomass boiler so the heating is provided from an entirely renewable energy source. Radiators have been fitted throughout and there is a thermostatic temperature control so you can set the temperature to suit. There is a washer/drier and outside in the steading the wood pellet boiler is heating a drying room which you are welcome to use for any wet outdoor gear. The cottage is on a working farm. There are sheep, cattle and working sheep dogs.. The surrounding countryside is what you would expect of rural Perthshire - mountains, lochs, stunning views, rich history, peace and quiet. This is a great place to be based as there is much to explore. The place is yours to enjoy. I live next door and I'm really happy to help with any questions you may have, there is also lots of local information available in the cottage. Although, sometimes I'm not at home, maybe I'm off staying in an Airbnb somewhere else!
We are fortunate enough to live in a beautiful little corner of North East Perthshire. This is very much a rural community with farms, friendly neighbours and a sense of openness. There are often local events in nearby Kilry Village Hall from the annual fete to the regular pop up T-Junction cafe. The Isla Parishes Church is just up the road and visitors are always made to feel welcome at the weekly service at 10am on Sundays.
  • Beautiful cottage with lovely farm views. Comfortably appointed with lots of stylish touches. Great place to escape from the bustle.

If your looking for something a little different then The Bridge House might be just for you! My unusual 2 bedroom home is actually build on a bridge spanning the River Ardle in 1881. Charming original features including stone spiral stairs, traditional Scottish timber clad walls, stone/pine flooring and even a privy directly over the river below! Recently renovated. Quiet, peaceful and rural location. Pretty views from every angle. Sauna. Category A listed.
The adventure begins as you enter my front door with a winding stone spiral staircase leading upto The Bridge House. The top of the stairs opens into the conservatory dining room. From here you can access the little bedroom and kitchen/sittingroom. The little bedroom has a small double bed, great views upriver and a quirky privy from olden days! The kitchen sitting room is surrounded by traditional scottish timber clad walls and floor. It has a cosy log burning stove and pretty views downriver. The kitchen is fully fitted with everything you need. From the kitchen sittingroom you access the romantic master bedroom with kingsize 4 poster, smart TV, ornamental fireplace and fitted mini wardrobes. I hope you'll sleep as well as I do with the peaceful sound of the river below. The bathroom has a choice of shower or bath. There are stone walkways all around The Bridge House with magical views down to the river below. They connect with the veranda seating area nestled in the castellations and a small sauna in a mini stone 'outbuilding'.
. Peaceful and rural. Listen to the river below and sheep in the distance. . Great walking all around. Cateran Trail is just 5 minutes up the road. . Traditional pubs in Bridge of Cally and Kirkmichael with good food. (5 minutes by car.) . Tourist hotspots of Braemar, Pitlochry, Dunkeld and Perth all within an hours drive. . Glenshee skiing 35 minutes.
  • The bridge house is one of the most unique and beautiful places I've had the pleasure to stay in. If you want get away from day to day life, and somewhere different then this is the place to do it.

    Graeme2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic stay! The Bridge House is a must stay for anyone looking for unique accommodation. Great value for your money, spotlessly clean, and toasty warm. We slept so well! The perfect place to make forever memories!

  • Mimi's apartment was well kept and is in a lovely location with beautiful views. The apartment has been tastely decorated and we enjoyed our time there.

    Aditi2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Utterly breathtaking. Do not hesitate, this place is a fairytale come true. The sense of overwhelming peace, tranquility and joy you will feel simply by sitting in front of the fire whilst watching the river run by will stay with you indefinitely. Amazing host(s) and superb communication. Thank you sincerely.

    Richard2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Bridge House is a unique property on a bridge over the river. It was a lovely place to stay for my birthday weekend. The surrounding area is beautiful and there are some great walks, especially along the Cateran Trail, which is right on the doorstep. The house is cosy, comfortable, nicely done out and has everything you could need. After getting wet and cold outside it was fab to heat up in the cute sauna and chill by the wood burning stove. Mimi was very responsive with our queries before we went and Frax (her co-host) was very welcoming and on hand if we need during our visit. Would definately recommend. Would also be great in warmer months, when the outside seating on the terrace would be a lovely spot for a glass of wine after a day outside.

    Deirdre2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location! I would definitely recommend this property!

If your looking for something a little different then the stable wing of The Bridge House may be just for you! My unusual holiday home is part of the unique Bridge House built over the River Ardle in k1881. It has recently been renovated to a warm and cosy standard! Charming original features including stone spiral stairs, traditional Scottish timber clad walls, brick and pine flooring. All mod cons including wifi & smart TV. Quiet, peaceful and rural location. Pretty views.
The adventure begins as you enter the front door with a winding stone spiral staircase on your left and kitchen on the right. My large kitchen salon has original brick flooring with timber and stone walls. The kitchen is fully fitted and has everything you need. There is a cosy wood fired oven that is not only pretty but practical too. I love breakfast here looking at the river and bridge, especially in the morning sun. There is also a large comfortable sofa and smart TV. The spiral staircase leads up to the bedrooms and bathroom. The master bedroom is large and bright with views of the river on one side and beautiful Strathardle on the other. King size double bed and smart TV. There is a small second bedroom with a cosy double bed (tight for two). There is freeview TV, ornamental fireplace and traditional gas lamp lighting! I hope you'll sleep as well as I do with the peaceful sound of the river and comfortable beds... The bathroom has a choice of shower or bath. If you're lucky with the weather you can enjoy the garden and river. Pets welcome in the house but strictly not in bedrooms or sofa in any circumstances and in case dog hair found in bedroom or sofa a deep clean will be requested at a and cost that will deducted from deposit.
Peaceful and rural. Great walking. Traditional pubs in Bridge of Cally and Kirkmichael. Braemar, Pitlochry, Dunkeld and Perth within an hours drive.
  • This place is unique and exceptionally beautiful. It is ideal for a peaceful and romantic getaway. The location is quite isolated and internet is slow, which is a good point in my opinion, but not for everyone. The property is furnished with quality and has lots of necessary items to make it home from home, such as your kitchen cupboard staples. We loved our stay and intend to visit again.

Gairncliffe is a newly renovated cottage 20 minutes walk from the beautiful town of Ballater in Royal Deeside. Set in a secluded woodland location by the river Gairn, it comes complete with hot tub, wood burning stove, Netflix and high speed broadband.
  • I wanted somewhere special to celebrate my 50th birthday with my husband, adult children and partners -this fitted the bill perfectly! The house is a great sociable space. As we were there in early March we had the log burner going and it was so cosy. The bedrooms are all very comfortable and the bathrooms fitted out beautifully-lots of hot water. The hot tub takes a while to heat in the winter but it is worth it! The location is peaceful but with easy access to Ballater and lots of lovely walks. Steve was great at communicating. I would highly recommend!

    Sarah2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

    Kieran2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This holiday haven is the perfect getaway to really ‘getaway’ from it all! Beautiful cottage, fantastic views and perfectly located. The hot tub was a welcome sight after some skiing up on the mountains, we spent a week here but could easily have stayed longer! Tranquility in spades, we will definitely be back for our slice of paradise again soon 😀

    Kate2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing get away for a small group or a big family. Spacious bedrooms with amazing bedding, large well stocked kitchen with amazing appliances and cookware. Hot tub dose take some work to get hot but worth it. 10 mins walk to a spa, 20 mins to the town. Fantastic place and will definitely look to return

    Thomas2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at Gairncliffe Cottage. Lovely surroundings and very comfortable place to relax and get away from things. Would definitely come back again.

    Beth2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully renovated cottage that has everything you need and more for a little getaway. The highlights were the hot tub with a totally uninterrupted view and the insanely comfy super king bed in the master bedroom. The house is gorgeous but also really comfortable and practical and we couldn’t have asked for more. Steve was really helpful and responded quickly to my questions. Overall it was just perfect!

Are you working in the Dundee or Perth areas for a few nights, several weeks or even longer? Would you like the space, comfort and convenience of a home in a beautiful rural location? • We enjoyed a lovely weekend away with friends. Excellent facilities, all the kitchen utensils you could need, lovely hot powerful showers, an impressively kitted out home gym and very lovely hosts. Will definitely be recommending this place.

    Lucy2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a well-thought out renovation that maximises the amenity of the 3 bedrooms - each with its own ensuite. Wishing we had more time to explore the local area, there its quite a bit of history, with Roman bridges and fields with lots of pheasants wondering around.

  • Ideal location, very helpful hosts.

    Julie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Braemar is the perfect place in the Highlands to either explore the hilltops or sit around and relax. We keep coming back and this is our second year staying at Derrywood. Such a great house with everything you need. Roelf and Miep are welcoming hosts and were helpful when needed.

    Richard2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful short break at Roelf's place with our two small children. Amazing location, feels very remote but a short walk to Braemar village with lots of places to eat and stroll. In the house and the garden, you hear nothing but the birds and the river. The views are wonderful in all directions. The house is perfectly equipped for a stay in any season, including a very well-stocked kitchen (and lots of great books!). We were lucky to get lots of snow and enjoyed sledding in the garden - but it was too snowy to explore the many hiking opportunities. So we'll be visiting again!

    Esther2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The house is indeed a very unique traditional and exciting house full of characters. We had the wonderful experiences of living in a Scottish traditional house with fireplace, antique furniture like the big clock with lots of games etc. etc. My children felt so excited - they felt like they live in a mystical house they watched in English movies! And the surrounding area is so beautiful my husband said just like heaven on earth. We can see the rivers flowing and the beautiful mountain from our windows. And of course, the host Miep is so friendly sharing many things with us and brought wood for the fireplace for the two days we spent in the house. Highly recommended and love this place so much!

    Wardah2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderfully cosy and dog friendly home with a welcome fire and great art. Beautiful views out the windows and the bird feeders are well filled. Perfect for nature lovers and walkers. Lovely pub nearby in the fife arms, which is good for celeb spotting! The beds were comfy. We had fantastic communication from Roelf and Miep who are a great couple living in an eco home down the road. We saw loads of wildlife including mountain hare, red squirrel and capercaillie. We will be back for sure!

    Melisande2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible place and incredible hosts. Memories which will last a life time. Roelf and Roo are exceptional in every way. We loved climbing Moran. The views are wonderful.

  • All the facilities you'll need. House is lovely and warm. Comfy beds warm duvets. Plenty of cooking utensils. Fabulous location with plenty of good walks from the house and many more only a short car trip away. You'll love watching the birds and squirrels in the morning from the dining table. Braemar centre is a nice short stroll away fine for an evening meal or a drink or two.

Once a laundry servicing the main house this property has been converted into a comfortable cottage for 2. The property is accessed via its own driveway and has its own garden with plenty of parking. It is a 5 minute walk to the town centre.
The Old Laundry, Struan Cottage is situated in a particularly desirable area of Ballater at the foot of Craigendarroch.
The Old Laundry is situated in the picturesque village of Ballater within the Cairngorms National Park. It is a 10 minute drive to Balmoral Castle, Braemar is a further 15minutes away.
  • What a gem! We came to Ballater to explore Cairngorm National Park, and Paul’s little cottage was just perfect. Very small and super cosy, with total privacy. In the evenings it is very toasty and we chose to utilise the kitchen to cook our own food and chill in front of the telly. On one night we ventured down to the village (under 10 minutes walk) and ate at India on the Green which was outstanding, and on another we drank at The Deeside Inn in front of a roaring fire and a live band. Our stay was absolutely lovely and could not recommend it enough.

  • We loved our stay at Paul’s place! Highly recommend this place for the location, price, privacy and convenience. So nice to arrive to a warmed house with supplies for hot beverages and snacks! We loved our hike on the Balmoral Estate, meals in town, and wandering the streets of Ballater. We hope to come back soon.

  • It is a very cosy place and well located. It has got loads of privacy and is 10 minutes walk from anywhere in Ballater. I recommend it highly.

  • Another brilliant stay at this gorgeous place. Paul is fantastic and very helpful if you have the chance grab this gem if you can.

    Wendy2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Paul’s place was excellent! We went in January, had a little snow and cold temperatures but Paul’s place was very comfortable and definitely warm enough! A great local cafe and restaurant also in walking distance!

Bedroom with king sized bed, shared bathroom and use of cosy living room and kitchen. Take time to relax and watch the red squirrels in the garden, and sample honey from our beehives.
  • Bebe is the friendly, informative host who has a welcoming presence after a long journey.I tried some of Bebe's delicious home made honey and slept like a log in the double bedroom. The nearby town of Kirriemuir is very pleasant having several Tourist amenities. It is only about 5 miles from the Queen Mother's ancestral home of Glamis.

    Graham2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Had a pleasant stay with Bebe. She was friendly and accommodating. Our stay was comfortable.

    Nij2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • A warm welcome, the house is ideally placed for a peaceful visit to the area -- just far enough from the town, lovely setting and very convenient.

    Margaret2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Heartwarming welcome. Bebe is both available and discreet. We enjoyed the exchanges we had with her, during the tasty breakfast.

    Jean-Claude2019-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Bebe's wee cottage is a lovely place to stay if you prefer, like me, to stay away from the town. The garden and surrounding woodland is full of birds and wildlife and the cottage very homely and I felt like I was visiting a friend. It is only a 10 minute drive from Kirriemuir so you can get in easily to the shop and pubs but not so handy if you dont have a car.

    Angela2019-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Simple simple decor. Very natural. Bebe is a great hostess. And we can confidently recommend it

    Sylvia2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Bebe is a very welcoming host who made us feel very much at home. We used the well equipped kitchen, and slept very comfortably, in her quiet house with beautiful gardens. She gave us great tips for our nature watching activities the next day.

    Jill2019-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • A peaceful place in the country but still close to the town (Kirriemuir). A friendly, intelligent, artistic host. There really are red squirrels in the garden, and lots of wildlife round about (e.g. ospreys in Kinnordy Loch). Dundee is only half an hour away, the Angus Glens are on the doorstep, and there are an amazing number Pictish sculptured stones within easy driving distance.

Situated within The Cairngorms National Park. Braedownie Farm is the home of Richard & Katy, 2 Labradors, Freya & Eilidh , cat Rosie, 2 ponies and our free range chickens. You can enjoy gentle walking to Munro bagging from the Glen Doll carpark, where many walking routes begin, from our doorstep. The Clova Hotel is just 3 miles away. We welcome couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids) and pets. Price is based on two people sharing, second room available by negotiation.
There has been a farm at Braedownie for over 500 years, although the property now has only two small paddocks in addition to the yard, steading and sheep pens. The current buildings probably date from the early 1800s, and the house still has many traditional features, although modern technology does get a look in through satellite TV and Wifi. Our furnishing is fairly traditional, with the emphasis on being homely and comfortable. There are armchairs by the wood-burner in the kitchen as well as in the main sitting room with open fire.
Glen Clova is the most visited glen in Angus, with visitors from near and far coming to enjoy the areas natural beauty as low and high level walkers, mountain-bikers, rock-climbers, photographers, ornithologists and naturalists. Corrie Fee is home to rare alpine plants, and the local Countryside Rangers can give up-to-date advice about observing our golden eagles and other wildlife. Two Munros are within easy range, and several routes connect with Deeside, one via Loch Muick lying below Lochnagar. We've always loved it that once here with enough food, you can lock the car keys away, but we can also recommend restaurants and other attractions if you want to travel further in this lovely area.
  • Katy & Richard have an amazing house, and are welcoming and friendly, brilliant hosts! We enjoyed the farm animals, the walks we took from the house, the beauty, the fireplaces, and the conversations. Their dog and cat are calm, even in the face of our 2yo dog who has no experience of cats. We loved our stay in the snow, and will be back in the summer!

    Candace2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very warm welcome in a cozy setting. Incredibly easy access to wonderful outdoor vistas. This was the perfect getaway!

    Marion2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Unique house located in an extremely peaceful environment. Katy and Richard were very welcoming and helpful and allowed us to experience Scottish hospitality! A wonderful memory! Just make sure to plan your trip ahead (with the exact GPS position) so that to avoid detours and coming late at night.

    Melissa2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • All perfect, the spacious room, large and comfortable bed, a living room with fireplace to enjoy it, clean bathroom with hot water, breakfast for champions, perfect location the way to get is beautiful leaves you speechless !! and the best of them, Katy and Richard are two great people, and I love her dog when she brings me a stuffed animal and leaves it on my feet

    Antonio2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Katy greeted us warmly despite the very late hour of our arrival. It's a little cocoon out of time, in the middle of the mountains. Our visit was quick but I would go back without hesitation.

    Astrid2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Katy's place was fabulous. The house is in a beautiful place, ideal if you want to explore the area. The nature there is impressive. Katie and her husband were very welcoming. The room had everything we needed and we could even enjoy a relaxing evening in front of the fireplace. They also offered us a lovely breakfast and we were able to use the kitchen to prepare our meal. I loved this place and hope to go back soon!

  • At a very quiet place..very nice and kind people.

  • A lovely, warm, friendly couple who welcomed us into their beautiful farm home - Katy and Richard were so hospitable and great to talk to. They go the extra mile with special touches in the room (and soul use of the lovely living room) and Katy made us breakfast in the morning. The location is fantastic, right in the Glens and minutes away from the start of many trails. We'd love to return for longer in the future.

  • Glenmarkie is a lovely house in a beautiful location. A place to really get away from it all in a very tranquil setting. Very comfortable bed and room. Carol is a very pleasant and helpful host.

    Susan2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Had lovely stay at Carol's. As the second room was unoccupied, we had the "wing" to ourselves. The bed was very comfy and the room cozy. The breakfast was a nice touch. Carol made us feel very welcome and the back massage with Caroline next door was great! Would definitely recommend.

    Nicolas2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Carol's house is situated in very beautiful scenery. It is a perfect place for hikers and everyone who wants to properly disconnect and recharge from the busy city life. We very enjoyed Carol's hospitality and the room. It has very comfortable king size bed which you greatly appreciate after a long walk in mountains and roof windows through which you can observe the stars and immerse in the music of nature coming from the outside :)

    Karolina2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Carol's farmhouse. It's in a beautiful, secluded area: perfect to get away from it all. Carol was a very thoughtful host, who was friendly and looked out for us whilst also ensuring we had our own space. The bed was very comfortable and breakfast in a basket was a lovely touch. Thanks again Carol!

    Katharine2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Remote but most welcoming, clean and comfortable room with shared bathroom (with the adjacent let room, though as no one else was staying we had the bathroom and apartment to ourselves). Fresh breakfast left outside the bedroom door in the morning. Long (2-3 miles) gravel driveway with potholes, which requires slow and careful driving but you don’t need a 4x4, our Saab convertible handled it fine (though I wouldn’t recommend for a Ferrari!). Spectacular location in amongst the Scottish hills. The host reserved us a table at the nearby Glenisla Hotel for excellent dinner, though you do have to traverse the full length of the drive to get there and back ( watch out for frogs and hedgehogs on the journey back in the dark!). Highly recommended.

Cosy, comfortable cottage in a beautiful, peaceful location in the Cairngorms National Park, in the heart of Royal Deeside. Surrounded by mountains, rivers and lochs with birds and wildlife in the garden. It's just 10 minutes drive from Aboyne and Ballater, close to the ski resorts of Glenshee and the Lecht, a few minutes from the Gliding Club with many golf courses and castles to visit. Ideal for walking, cycling and relaxing.
All bedding and towels provided. TV, radio and DVD player. Heating and electricity included.
There are too many walks to mention. Hills, lochs, forests... you name it, we have it.

  • Perfect accommodation and brilliant location for exploring the surrounding. The cottage has everything you would need and more. Loads of information about the local area and recommendations for walks, sight seeing and more. Warm and cosy cottage which was great value for money too. Julie was more than helpful when booking and quick to respond to messages. Cannot recommend enough we will definitely be back!!

  • Cosy little cottage perfect for our weekend trip. Location was beautiful, bed was comfy, quiet area that’s so convenient for hillwalking in the Cairngorms (10 min drive to Ballater, 30 to Braemar). We had a great stay and loved that we were able to bring our dog to enjoy it too!

  • The cottage is a super property and exactly as described. Very good value for money, clean, and really well kitted out. It is very well located for exploring Deeside, and is a great choice for any length of stay. Communication with Julie was very good, and I was made to feel very welcome. I wouldn't hesitate to book another stay next time I visit the area. Highly recommended.

  • Very simple but also very comfortable and convenient for tourism or sprot

    Gérard2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location to explore the East of the Cairngorms, although if you don't mind driving the West side is only an hour and a half away. The view from the cottage is beautiful, there was still snow on the peak, and watching the rabbits in the next door field was a delight. We didn't meet Julie but communication via email was good and as everything was as described there were no problems. For me a comfortable bed is a must and happily the bed at the cottage is great. I highly recommend this place.

Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, the property has recently been refurbished and is light, bright and welcoming.Accessed by two steps, internally the house is all on one level, with a deck leading out from the living room to the front, which faces west giving views of wonderful skies and sunsets. Guests are welcome to use any of the herbs growing in the enclosed rear garden. Although bordered by a road at the rear, any slight noise from the light traffic is muffled by a fence and trees.
As the house is used frequently by the owner and family members, it is well equipped with normal every day items. The television receives only Netfix and there is a dvd player as well as a small selection of games
A well stocked convenience store is a few minutes walk from the house, with a supermarket less than fifteen minutes walk away. Although there's a hill to climb to return, there's a public bus every hour which will drop you at the bus stop just a minute's walk from the house. In addition to the excellent Co-op down the hill, in the town centre, McLarens' baker shop and Bertrams the butcher are both excellent independent food retailers. A few minutes walk from the house is Kirrie Hill with its camera obscura, a slightly longer walk in the opposite direction will take you to Kinnordy Loch Nature Reserve. The skeins of geese returning there to roost in the autumn/winter is a wonderful sight. There are many excellent eating places in the area. Just up from Bon Scott statue in the centre of town, Three Bellies Brae for freshly prepared light lunches,Glen Clova Hotel or Armstrongs outside the town for something a bit more special to name but a few - guests are spoiled for choice!

Even a little welcome pack of milk, biscuits, tea and coffee. Located with easy access to the glens and other visitor attractions. Great accommodation for walkers. I will definitely be coming back.

Since Margaret offers the house probably more out of passion, as with profit. Really great. The property is a cosy annex off their main house and it has recently been refurbished (they are also in the process of adding a fitted kitchen to complement the existing microwave/toaster/kettle). Everything was sparkling clean and as expected. It is a quiet neighbourhood and a good location for exploring further afield. I would happily stay there again.

  • The little flat is lovely, it has everything you need. With all the basic necessities, the fantastic reclining sofas and smart TV were a bonus. The town centre is only a 10 min walk and most of the local bars and restaurants allow dogs which is handy. The locals are really friendly too and gave us some pointers of where to visit while we were in the area. We might have to come back for Bonfest! The flat is really clean, tidy and cosy. We were debating to stay another night we loved it that much.

  • It was stylish, spacious and sparkling clean. Close to everything in town but a little noisy due to traffic. We had a wonderful stay.

    Kaela2019-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely flat right in the centre of Kirriemuir. Very handy for all local amenities. The road noise can be a bit loud at times but didn't bother us. Lovely touches of having milk, bread and chocolate waiting in the flat as well.

    Claire2019-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, cozy and comfortable. The 'Nook and Cranny' served us well during our short trip to Kirriemuir and the Angus region. From the get go Karen proved to be an exemplary host - thankfully no issue arose during our stay however I am quite certain had any issue arisen, Karen would have been on hand to swiftly resolve any issue.

  • Great host, stylish flat with lots of lovely touches. There is free parking a short walk away. Karen was very helpful with suggestions etc. All fab!

  • Great place and hospitality ❤️ We loved it so much 👍

    Regina2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a wee place within easy reach of Glenshee to take our son on a birthday trip to the snow. The Neuk was much bigger than we expected and furnished to a very comfortable standard with lovely wee touches all over to make it extra special! Loved the tea, coffee, milk and juice waiting our arrival. The place was spotless and we all loved it! Had the weather been better we would have made more use of the fabulous enclosed back garden. Highly recommend and Elaine is a fab host.

    Chiara2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine is a great host and the house is amazing. Elaine was very responsive when needed and the house was very clean with great amenities. I went with my children and they loved it. We would definitely comeback

    Maher2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Had a very comfortable two nights at Elaine's place with my family. Booked last minute the night before we travelled and we weren't disappointed with anything. The weather was pretty bad so it was great to have such a nice base for a couple of relaxing days. We made good use of the fire to keep us warm from the storm outside. Everything we needed was provided, and it was helpful that there was practical things like a high chair and a few games/books for our son to use. We weren't in the garden much due to the weather but it was pleasant and in summertime will be another plus for the house. The surrounding area is nice with a good amount of stuff to do within a short drive. Peel Farm just up the road from the house was nice for brunch.

  • Had an amazing time. Would definitely book again

  • A very comfortable house in a great location for nice walks nearby. Really cosy even on a cold and frosty January weekend. Great views of the stars!! The hot chocolate went down really well with our two year old, thanks!

  • Great place. Immaculately clean, super host with added touches. Very nice biscuits

    Sharon2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine's place was perfect, a very short walk away from a stunning waterfall which allowed us to get out and about very easily on our short break. The cottage was absolutely stunning as well. Really high quality and it was so clean that it felt like we were the first people to stay there. We did geta little lost when trying to find the place as the Sat nav took us to Kilry hall and it meant that we kept missing the sign marked out in the instructions. If this happens to you you turn right after the hall and it is at the end of the road next to the t junction with a sign to Alyth.

  • Had a lovely 2 day stay with my girlfriend. The cabin was extremely clean upon arrival and bigger than expected. It is a bit far from grocery shopping, so make sure you shop for a couple of days depending on the length of your stay. The area is beautiful and a lot of hikes are nearby. Plenty of maps and folders of the area is provided in the cabin.

    Magnus2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and in great location. Hot tub was great with easy instructions left on how to use. Check in procedure very simple. Would definitely visit again

    Kiah2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • It was such a great place for our short-break holidays. More than happy that choose this place. Great views, clean lodge, everything was amazing.

    Elizabete2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a couples retreat. The cabin has everything you need to cook, the sauna and hot tub are both squeaky clean. TV and a jigsaw provided but could do with some board games or DVDs. I would say the fact that electricity is paid for by a meter at the end of the stay could be a bit more clear in the advert, but it cost us less than £30 for 5 days so not that much of an issue! Overall, we rated our stay 5/5.

    Craig2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely wee cabin, in a beautiful and peaceful area. Loved every minute of our relaxing weekend away. Could have done with better TV options (DVD player) but was not the end of the world and did not dampen the trip in the slightest. There was a folder with the near by walking trails which we loved and took full advantage of. The hot tub was great and the space worked well for just the two of us. Was pretty warm at night but couldn't open the windows as we didn't want any insects getting in, could have done with a net over the windows. Amazing place to stay, would definitely come back again

    Kirsty2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was a fantastic little lodge hidden away in the mountains that we had a wonderful few days at, lucky enough to catch the great weather at the end of June. There are lots of outdoor activities nearby you don't even need to drive to get to - we'd strongly recommend the Glas Tulaichian walk in the helpful guide in the lodge. Being able to come back from a long days hiking to a hot tub is a real treat :) Would happily recommend or even come back in the future. One slight word of warning - you do need to pay extra for electricity. It does say so on the main page of the listing, but we didn't notice this until we got there. Not a big problem but was a bit of a surprise. We spent ~£15 on electricity for a 5 day stay, using the sauna/hot tub every day.

    Scott2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to relax and get away from it all, weather allowed for some skiing too.

    Barry2019-03-15T00:00:00Z

Honey Cottage is a delightful semi-detached dwelling situated up a quiet lane in the village of Dinnet, in the heart of Royal Deeside. Built out of granite in the 19th century, Honey was originally used as a cottage to accommodate workers from the local estate. Nowadays, Honey Cottage offers clean and cosy accommodation to couples, providing an excellent base for exploration, adventure or relaxation.
Cosy, comfortable and petite, Honey Cottage is ideal for couples looking for a quiet break in a rural location. Furbished to a high standard throughout, Honey Cottage has an open plan kitchen/sitting room (with a wood burning stove) on the ground floor. The double bedroom and a bathroom (with a bath and an overhead shower) are located upstairs. The cottage has a clematis clad patio area to the back, with seating and a barbecue. Rent is inclusive of all linen and towels. For the hill walker, the hills of Deeside start practically at the front door! For the skier, Glenshee and The Lecht ski centres are nearby. Other activities available locally include golfing, fishing, shooting, gliding and pony trekking.
Dinnet is a very peaceful and small village. The village has a hotel which serves evening meals and drinks (reservations may be required). Shops and other local services, are available in the nearby villages of Aboyne and Ballater.
  • Fantastic cottage with tremendous amenities - it really was like staying in someone's home! Great locality - Deeside was familiar to me from growing up in Aberdeen, but it was good to stay locally and not travel back every night. Communication with Alison was great - we stayed clear of her cat as I'm allergic to them, but both of us survived!

  • A lovely clean space. Much more impressive than we had in mind. The fire and board games ;-)

    Simon2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy, self catering with an unfaultable location right in the heart of Braemar which comes with its own parking space and entrance. The super king size bed is very comfortable and everything you would need for a great stay is included. The decor is stylish and up to date. You wouldn't want to cook a 4 course meal in the neat galley kitchen, but it was more than sufficient for simple self catering and furnished with everything you could wish for. I like to sketch, so it was great to have a generous sized table to sit at as well. We are already planning a trip back and the Bothy would now be our accommodation of choice in the area.

    Al2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely two-night stay at the Ivy Bothy. The flat was incredibly warm, with a very comfortable bed and tiny kitchenette. Braemar was a cute village with plenty of local activities, which Jennifer helped to point out to us.

  • An absolute must for anyone who wants to be in the middle of the countryside, but have a couple of comforts, too! We had another great stay at Howe of Torbeg. Nicole is so welcoming and we are looking forward to staying again. Our pod, and showers and toilets sparkling clean and I just love the Tea Shed! Really beautiful place to waken up to and get the kettle going for your morning coffee. There are heaters in the pod, so even on the coldest of days, you know you’ll be snug. We stayed the night before a cycle and can’t wait to spend a weekend here. You are in the middle of no where, but only 10 minute drive from Ballater and then on to the rest of the gorgeous Aberdeenshire countryside.

    Kirsty2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely top glamping!

    Maud2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The small little pod community in the hills. It's beautiful and idyllic, and super cozy, without sacrificing things like heat and nice restrooms. And I loved the tea shack, so cute.

    Jesse2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was very evident that Nicole loves being a Host-thoughtful touches everywhere, the pod, shower house and gathering house were very well made and tastefully decorated. The scenery was absolutely spectacular. Loved getting coffee and croissants delivered and enjoying them at our picnic table. Nicole even let us borrow one of the cold bags so we could buy some things and keep them cold during the day. We were sick when we got there, which was disappointing but what a great place to have to stay put and relax. Only wish we would’ve had more time. Also, Ballater was a fabulous village.

  • What an amazing experience - everything you want and more! Despite the fact it rained from start to finish we felt right at home :) We will be returning! What a fabulous weekend away with no phone reception surrounded by wilderness :)

  • An absolute must for silence and wildlife lovers. There is everything you need in there and the shower is incredible. Will definitely go back !

  • Although the accommodation in Hideaway is very basic that is part of it's charm. The separate shower worked very well with plenty of hot water, and the composting toilet although a little walk from the cottage was also fine. We needed to use the log burner but had no trouble lighting it as a starter kit was provided. We came to the hideaway to see the beavers, and we did , so we went away happy. It was very rainy during our stay, and quite muddy underfoot in places, so a good pair of wellies was essential. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return next summer.

  • Ideal for an off-grid escape, lovely hosts and beavers just down from the cabin 🤩

    Elsa2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The beauty is all around you and you feel immersed in it. Tucked away on the edge of woodland and next to water, it simply is habitat heaven. The hideaway is spacious, comfortable but also it's simplicity is just perfect. We really did not want to leave.

    Laura2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is just as advertised, with its back to woods and facing north onto the river. The outdoor rainwater shower is really impressive - good flow and actually had to turn it cooler. And our first use of a compost loo without any problems - no smell, no flies! The cabin is basic as expected, but has all we needed for a relaxing break, with a very comfy bed. Enjoyed spotting the beavers - very interesting to see the impact of their efforts on the land. Good to chat with the hosts as well, who have embraced rewilding with a passion!

Ideal for exploring the East of Scotland, & only a 15 min drive to Dundee which in September 2018 seen the much anticipated opening of the V&A Dundee. You get the whole flat with this booking. The flat is only 5 minutes walk from the heart of the famous old Scottish town of Forfar and set in a quiet cul-de-sac. The flat is a modern 25 year old large 1 bedroom flat, with 1 large bedroom with a good size double bed, a large sitting room with freeview tv, free wifi, and 2 comfortable single camp beds allowing the flat to easily cater for 4 people. Also a large sofa allowing a 5th person to stay. A modern fully equiped kitchen with a table eating area for 4. Good size modern bathroom with bath and powerful shower, and cosy heating through out and plenty of hot water on demand. Free on street parking right outside the front door to the flat. Washing machine, iron and ironing board provided. We also supply a cot bed for infant guests.
The traditional historic market town of Forfar was once the centre of the ancient Kingdom of the Picts in Angus in Scotland. Now it's home to the world -renowned Scottish delicacy the Forfar Bridie (a deliciously crispy meat pastry traditionally eaten by local farm workers) with two big rival original bakers still in the town, Saddlers and McLarens who both claim to have made the original and still the best bridies. Only one way to solve it is try one from each bakers and make up your own mind. For an insight into Forfar's history, art and industry, visit the Meffan Gallery and Museum. Here you can wander through time in an old cobbled vennel, peer into a knockmaker's workshop and see linen being woven. The Meffan also tells the grim history of Forfar's place in the 17th century witch hunts. If horticulture is your passion, then you can't leave the area without a visit to Pitmuies Gardens, with its roses, herbaceous borders and woodland walks. Forfar and Angus has a number of beautiful walks which we provide guides for. Don't miss the monthly farmers' market on the 2nd sat of the month set in the local cattle market which is enjoyed by visitors and locals alike throughout the year with a wide range of gifts and locally produced food and drink. Forfar has a vibrant town centre with many independent shops and cafes both food and gifts, some nice pubs and restaurants, Forfar also has several medium size supermarkets. In the wider Angus/Tayside/Perthshire area there are amazing walks, climbing, & cycling routes. We provide contact details for a local Forfar outdoor shop who hire bikes for the day if you dont fancy bringing your own bikes. In our guide book we also suggest some lovely car drives or cycle routes to places around the local area. We are only a 10 minute drive from the stunning Glamis Castle and Glamis village where the Queen Mother grew up. Close to the beautiful House of Dun, 20 minute drive to the beautiful towns of Arbroath where you can sample the world famous Arbroath smokie and wander around its romantic fishing harbour, also close to Montrose, Brechin, & Carnoustie. Its only a 10 minute drive to the beautiful town of Kirriemuir which was the home of JM Barrie the author of Peter Pan with a museum in the town in his old house, and if you have younger kids there is an amazing play park paid for by the JM Barrie Foundation designed to resemble the Neverland pirate boat. (Our kids love it). Kirremuir was also where Bon Scott from AC/DC came from with a statue to him in the town. You are in the Strathmore valley which is at the foot of the Angus Glens with amazing scenery, walks, climbs and cycling routes, and close to the Cairngorms mountain range and Scottish Highlands with arguably some of the most beautiful mountains in Scotland with in the wider area. Forfar has several outdoor shops if you need to get some last minute walking or climbing esentials. We are also close to some beautiful beaches with in 30 minute drives great places for picnics, one of the best being the beautiful Lunan Bay. Some great fishing is in the area both rivers and lochs, with some of Scotlands most famous fly fishing locations with in 1 hours drive. We can recommend a local fishing shop in Forfar to help you. We recommend a local company about a 20 minute drive away who organise clay pigeon shoots for all expertise levels. Highly recommend if not tried before. For the more adventurous we also recommend a local adventure company who organise wet suit swims in local rivers and lochs. While being in the heart of the Angus countryside Forfar is also still close enough to explore cities like Dundee (15 minutes drive) & Perth (40 minute drive), and Aberdeen (45 minute drive away). Or other Angus towns such as Brechin, Montrose, Carnoustie, Monifieth, Broughty Ferry, Cupar Angus, Arbroath, Kirriemuir, (all about 15 to 25 minutes drive away). If golf is your thing we are close to a number of famous golf courses such as Carnoustie golf course which hosted the Open golf Championship in July 2018, and Forfar has its own highly rated 18 hole golf course. Forfar golf course claims to be the oldest 18 whole golf course in the world which is still open, and was designed by the famous Old Tom Morris and updated by the just as famous James Braid and often mentioned as one Scotland best hidden gems that can compete with some of Scotland more famous courses, and playing fees are excellent value. Then of course we are still only about a 45 minute drive from the home of golf St Andrews across the Tay Bridge in Dundee and a short ride into Fife and you don't even need to know anything about golf to appreciate walking around this beautiful, historic, and romantic old town. If you are staying in the area to attend a wedding we are close to a number of beautiful wedding venues such as Guthrie Castle, Forter Castle, Fingask Castle, Piperdam, House of Dun, Colliston Castle, Forbes of Kingennie, Carnoustie Hotel, Glamis Castle, and many more across Tayside, Angus & Fife.

I was greeted by Alistair who showed me round and explained the TV, WiFi, washing machine etc. Lots of books and games provided and great touristy tips/brochures. Free parking right outside flat and nice quiet and safe area. Within easy walking distance of all amenities. Spotlessly clean. Great value. Hope to return soon.

  • I stayed at Ruth and Alastair’s place while visiting family. They were fab at getting back to my emails and I was welcomed warmly by Alistair and shown around the flat. It was so homely and comfortable with everything I needed. They left lovely touches like Scottish whisky to try and tablet! Also I got there in the evening so it was such a treat to have milk, tea and other treats in the house when I arrived. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Forfar!
