Places to stay in Corcovado Beach
Our buildings are right next to the ocean so you can fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean and the rainforest. Our property boasts 130 acres of Primary rainforest to explore right on the border of the Corcovado National Park. In order to arrive, you most take an hour and a half boat ride from Sierpe, or a 15 min boat ride from Drake Bay. The boat leaves Sierpe at 11:20am and Drake Bay at ~12:30am. We have a bar/restaurant on the property with many options on the menus.
We regularly get visits from our resident tapir, monkeys, and many other animals. We offer many tour options like trips to Cano Island which you can see right from your window. We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day and spearfish fresh fish right outside our bay for dinners. We offer a bar as well as laundry services.
Our closest neighbors are a 30 minute walk to the north or an hour walk to the south. We have surprisingly close ties to the surrounding community given the remoteness of our location, but do not expect to find a grocery store or an atm nearby. Prepare to unplug and enjoy nature in its purest form!
  • Heavenly place, in a perfect place to disconnect. The activities are managed on site, nothing to predict! Be careful though to be well informed about access to the hotel. I recommend +++

  • Probably the greatest place in Costa Rica , maybe even the world! Words can't do this place justice. The boat ride there was sooooo much fun (wear sunscreen though my guns got pretty sunburnt). When we arrived, someone was waiting at shore to help us unload and carried our bags to reception. We immediately got checked in and were given a tour of the place and shown our room, and then we were free to enjoy paradise. Tons of hammocks available in the sun and in the shade. The water was great and tons of great beach to enjoy! I'm a wildlife photographer and I was in heaven, toucans and macaws and monkeys that i could literally see from my bedroom window. The chef there was killer as well. 12/10 the best pasta Alfredo I've had in my entire life. Wifi worked and everything else was great, cant say enough good things about this place, I'm already planning on coming back next year.

  • The manager Bryan was the greatest host and took such good care of all the guests. This is really a paradise and you feel so connected with nature. Strongly recommend this place!

  • This is one of those unique spots in the world where you automatically will disconnect and relax! The atmosphere is so friendly, open and relaxed and being close to nature in a very simple, rustic environment in relative isolation yet having all essentials and access to great food and friendly staff and other guests, just makes a perfect combination. One of the best travel experiences I had!

  • Beautiful, relaxing and peaceful place to stay. We had a fab time

  • Jungle Del Jaguar was amazing! We spent one week there and had a great experience. We dove two days at Caño Island, spent one day at Corcovado National Park, and we did the extended night hike with Jasner (probably spelled wrong...) (from jungle Del jaguar). All of the activities were arranged by Kimberly and she kept us informed and answered all our questions. The diving was superb, great visibility and we saw a lot! The National Park was also excellent, we saw a lot of wildlife, from small insects to monkeys, tapirs, and anteaters. This is definitely a place you want to stay! You can see and experience so much, even just on their property alone! All of the staff is incredibly friendly and wonderful - shout out to Kimberly, Matt, Lucas, and Jasner! We had a lot of fun getting to know everyone, playing games, fishing, swimming together. We felt like we left having made some new friends :) We really hope to be back one day!

  • Great location. Being in the jungle away from everything is exactly what I was looking for and this place did just that! lots of wildlife.

    Sachin2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I stayed at Jungla Del Jaguar for four nights and the atmosphere was absolutely incredible. Despite the rainy season, we swam in the ocean everyday before breakfast and sat on the deck sipping coffee and drinking smoothies while looking at the views. We headed to Corcovado national park on our third day and we were lucky to see some sloths, a tapier and the amazing jungle wildlife. Our Jungla Del Jaguar experience was phenomenal and given the option, we would’ve put an additional star. Thank you to the Jungla team for the amazing time and top notch hospitality! Pura Vida!

  • Olga and her partner were wonderful hosts, very patient with my attempts at Spanish (thank you Google translate!) and this encouraged me to speak more. Our room was very clean and comfortable, a short distance to a lovely beach that was all but deserted. We were able to choose our mealtimes, EXCELLENT coffee coffee n the morning and breakfast as well as very good suppers! We did some food prep/meals on our own and Olga provided a couple of plates for us. We discovered that the beautiful wood carvings in the restaurant were hers! Our view of sunsets over the Pacific was fantastic! We were greeted with big smiles each day, were made to feel so comfortable and welcome. Wifi and cellular are a bit spotty, usually fine in the restaurant or balcony but this is likely due to location. Please not this is somewhat remote so a 4x4 or motorcycle is absolutely necessary & well worth the drive. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Bella Vista. We loved the location being away from Drake Bay and it was well worth the trek out there. The hosts were exceptionally kind and accommodating and the food (and view!) at the restaurant was incredible. We look forward to coming back again soon!

  • While Drake Bay is unfortunately no longer recommended, this gem with short distances to the most beautiful beaches and primeval forests is simply recommended. If you are interested in the region, you should always be aware that a jeep is almost mandatory as a means of transportation, but you are also in one of the most beautiful corners of Costa Rica!

    Christian2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was a gem in Drake Bay Area! It was a wonderful home to stay in, and Mayra was a great host, helping us plan a last minute horseback riding trip down to the beach. Would recommend!!

    Kristin2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely garden! Window issue mentioned in other reviews was not an issue for us, there were practically no bugs and there was a way to close doors to avoid the bugs that there were. Aside from hammock, they could use a comfortable chair but other than that we loved the area the garden and staying at this house!!

    Willemijn2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Super nice little house! Nothing negative to say about the accommodation! But the location is really not what we thought .... extremely far from everything, nothing to do in the surroundings, everything is much more expensive than elsewhere in costa rica

    Mathieu2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed in 5 places in Costa Rica so far and this was by far the best. Mayra was very helpful with arranging day trips and had us driven to and from everything. The place is great! We spent several days in the hammocks reading, watching the birds and butterflies, and getting the occasional visit from Drake the cat and the puppy. Mayra has many plants labeled in the garden and a printed and laminated field guide. It was like staying IN a botanical garden. Not all of the windows close all the way so we were conscious of keeping the lights to a minimum after dark. But that is all part of Costa Rica and being in nature. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed to cook all of our meals. I will definitely stay here again if I am ever lucky enough to visit again.

    Ashleigh2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mayra's place was a bliss! For starters, they organized everything from the boat bringing us from Sierpe to Drake Bay over the drive up to the place, everything went just great. The house itself is super clean and had a well organized kitchen with everything we could ask for. They also provided towels and came by to see if we needed anything. The garden was beautiful and you can tell that they all put a lot of love and effort into this place. We could see some birds and butterflys around the garden and hear different birds, which I loved. I would've loved to stay longer and I would recommend this place to anybody! Great value for your money for sure!

    Babette2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house. Clean and has all the amenities needed for a wonderful stay. Mayra and Emmanuel are welcoming and lovely. We took the canopy tour with Emmanuel and had great fun and saw a couple of toucans up in the tree tops :) only difficulty is the rugged roads to access this location. 4x4 and google gps permitted us to access, however not totally accurate. We found it quite difficult. However, we are very happy with our stay, especially laying in the hamocs in front of the house watching exotics birds flying by in the afternoon, priceless. Thanks again!

    Mathieu2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Place is beautiful. You got enough space everywhere and you're surrounded by nature. Mayra was super kind and took care of the bookings of the trips!

  • Osvaldo and Yos, and everyone who works here is very warm, and they will make you feel part of the team. The food they prepare is very good and it should be noted that the ingredients are the farm's own production. The location is to live a jungle experience, we could hear the congo in the morning, the various birds, insects, and lots of native vegetation. They must go for a walk to the waterfall to appreciate the primary forest and enjoy a good bath. You can take a walk on your own to Caletas beach, San Josecito beach and to Rincon, and then they coordinate a taxi back to the farm. There are tours that they organize for you either in the neighboring farms (Naguala or El Sendero de la Danta), highly recommended to avoid the high prices of the Corcovado Park and also avoid large crowds of tourists. A particularity of the Small House project is the use of renewable energy and respect for nature. Welcome to the jungle!

  • Places of magical permaculture! Little paradise on earth of beauty and biodiversity! Yos and Osvaldo are fantastic hosts who take the time to share their knowledge about plants and nature. I recommend to nature lovers, enthusiasts of biology, permaculture and biodiversity who wish your world far away from the habits of over-consumption.

  • Unique place where we had one of the best stays of our vacation. Oswaldo & Yos are here to listen to you and to be exceptional people.

  • One of the best place to discover how to live off grid and learn many things about nature, Animals, and costa rican culture. Simple life and pura vida

    Jean-Marcel2019-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very good vibes at Osvaldo's house. The extra company of Emiliano, Duain and Taleno made the stay even more pleasant and enjoyable. From the cabin you can see toucans, macaws and capuchins. The routes with the local guide that Osvaldo recommended us a show. Highly recommended Very healthy everything;).

  • Beautiful place in the countryside far from tourist sites. a real jungle experience day and night. the farm is very well maintained, the food is delicious. and the reception is perfect. the cabin is rustic but perfect to live an authentic stay with the sounds of birds and monkeys (fear of spiders refrain ...) the walks and swimming are beautiful; Many thanks to Yos and Osvaldo for their kindness and availability. I recommend

    Isabelle2019-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The ecofarm is a very special place to stay. If you are looking for simple and affordable lodging so you can experience life on the Osa Peninsula, this is the place for you. Your cabin comes equipped with solar energy for lighting, a cold water shower (which is the only water you will want to experience in the heat/humidity) and beds/bedding. There is also a hammock for lounging. Be aware it is very basic so you get a really enjoyable taste of real life down there. We loved every bit of it, but I also understand that some people need more from their lodging. Yos and the team will let you be involved as much as you want to be involved with life on the farm. The cabin is also far enough away that you can keep to yourself and go on your own hikes or adventures. But honestly, I would let Yos arrange it for you because she really knows her way around and knows the local taxi drivers and tour guides. She is also very knowledgeable and passionate about life on the peninsula, so I suggest asking her to take you on a hike or show you around the farm. Very honestly, we thought our hike with Yos and the forest around the farm was more interesting than our tour through the National Park, although I still suggest that tour because you get a chance to see lots of animals. My 9 year old son said the farm was his favorite, and he got to do things like make chocolate from cacao seeds and bread in the really cool brick oven stove. Also, if you want to save on money, Yos can direct you on how to take busses and water taxis from San José. We had an issue with our 4wd rental, and ended up with an interesting 7 hour Uber drive to the farm. On our way back to San José, we followed the directions Yos gave us, and it was less than $60 for our family of 3 to get back, which is so much less than renting a car (that you won’t really need at the farm) or paying someone to drive you down there. We will definitely stay at the farm again when we make it back down there.

  • We spent 4 nights in Finca d'Osvaldo and Yos. A really great stay! Yos is an excellent cook. Both are very attentive with their guests they will help you during your stay in Bahia Drake. Great communication with WhatsApp, no surprise really we were delighted to get to know them and spend those few nights on their farm. It's comfortable, wild and authentic at the same time. A real joy.

Cabinas Palmera is situated in Rincón San Josesito, bordering on the Corcovado National Park. Experience intense biodiversity at your doorstep-daily sightings of monkeys, macaws and a dizzying array of flowers, plants and creatures endemic to the Osa
Rincón offers visitors a relaxed ambience, plenty of walking trails and local tours in the pristine tropical rainforest. Removed from the hustle and bustle of Drake Bay, you have the beach to yourself. Marvelous sunsets await.
Rincon beach is a very pleasant place.we have about 30 people. the village consists of 4 families. we have a school that only 5 children enjoy this service. the super market is only 15 minutes by taxi or motorcycle. is a remote place in which we are surrounded by many natural beauties.
  • What a beautiful area of the world Jonny’s Place is in! I was there about 12 nights. Jonny is kind, reliable, and came to check on us every night at dinner. We always felt welcome and safe. Three meals a day are available in the restaurant connected with Jonny’s and his extended family’s places (Poor Man’s Paradise). There are no kitchen, refrigerator or cooking facilities in the cabins. My friend and I usually had two meals a day at the restaurant and munched on almonds for lunch. If you go on tours for snorkeling or to Corcorvado National Park, lunch is included in their cost. There is also a restaurant on the main road called Bella Vista. They have good coffee, however, they are not always open. Jonny’s Place is in lovely natural surroundings. Beautiful flowers, trees, and shrubs. Near the beach you will find wild Scarlet Macaws, monkeys, and we had a sloth in a tree near our room. Staff pointed out birds and animals on the grounds which I never would have noticed. The housekeeper came every day to clean the room, make the bed, and supply clean towels. My friend, Michelle, and I really appreciated that. The activities I enjoyed were canoeing on Rio Claro and floating down the river to the ocean. Walking on the Caminar de Osa toward San Pedrillo ranger station. Going to Sierpe on the water taxi and taking the wildlife boat tour on the canal. We saw a lot! The only problem I had was to be bitten by sand fleas while I was walking the beach in the evening the last evening I was there. Avoid evening walking in the sand! My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit and recommend Jonny’s Place to fellow adventurers.

  • The whole stay at Jonnys was amazing! The Cabins are super nice, big rooms, cozy beds and the location is awesome. You wake up to the beautiful singing of tropical birds and the sounds of waves clashing from the beach. The beach is also really beautiful. The food in the restaurant "Amaya" which is super close to the Cabins has delicious food and they have great vegan and vegetarian options if you ask them. We can highly recommend this place. Jonny is a super friendly and supportive host and the whole staff of this Family business is doing a great job.

  • A huge wow. For everything. Sunsets on the Pacific, scarlet macaws and monkeys around you. The room was big and clean. Johnny and his family were helpful and always smiling. The food is great too. Hard to come back to reality after two days there.

  • The stay with Jonny was very, very nice. He took good care of me, from picking up on the beach to organizing the return trip. Jonny made several suggestions for what I could do, completely unobtrusively and in a very friendly way. Unfortunately, I couldn't talk to his family because I don't speak Spanish. But they were also very friendly. The place itself is beautiful. I got tips from Jonny for beautiful beaches and excursions My cabania was very generous. Sockets were everywhere. The bathroom area was also very spacious. Everything was spotless. Internet access was possible in the bar area. Too bad that I only booked 3 nights and extension was not possible. Next time I will definitely stay a whole week. Man and nature are unique there.

    Brigitte2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nice hut right next to a really fantastic almost lonely beach! We came by car (you definitely need four-wheel drive). From the parking lot you walk about 7-10 minutes on stairs to the accommodation. Everything in the accommodation was clean! Jonny went out of his way to have a nice stay. Took a lot of time to talk to us and give us tips. For us the most beautiful beach we have been on! Gracias Jonny!

  • Excellent attention very attentive in everything

    Douglas2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • It is simply paradise. So certainly the cabinas are very simple, but the cleaning is done every day, they are functional, the meals are great, and the general atmosphere very pleasant. Jonny is very responsive and takes care of the people he receives, he organized excursions to Corcovado park and to Ilsa del Cano, it was great. Finally, the beach and the environment is simply exceptional, the beach is almost deserted, the sunset is magnificent, and the fauna and flora omnipresent: while walking in the cabinas and on the beach we saw Macaws red, a Toucan, lots of monkeys, hummingbirds and even a Tapir a few meters from the accommodation, it was great. I highly recommend anyone looking for adventure and nature lovers.

    Louis2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Without a doubt our best experience in Costa Rica. The truth is that we were thinking of not putting a review so that this beautiful place did not become very popular, but I think it would not be fair. Playa Rincon has become one of our favorite destinations in the world. It is a magical place, one of those few authentic, wild and well-kept places left on the planet. Everything is spectacular. We saw whales, dolphins, monkeys, turtles, tapir, sharks, macaws and endless animals. From the terrace of Jonny's cabin you can see white-faced monkeys playing in the trees and lots of colorful tropical birds. While on the beach we saw hundreds of turtles coming out of their eggs and walking for the first time to the ocean. In addition, almost every night a tapir (giant anteater) visits the area. A true wonder Jonny is the best possible host. He organized all the excursions and made sure we had a perfect stay. There is a bar where you can have beers or delicious cocktails and also a restaurant that takes Jonny's family where they prepare an excellent meal. Anyway, the best of the best. We will definitely return but next time we will stay longer. 200% recommended. I want to thank Jonny and his whole family for their hospitality and for keeping this paradise so clean, so well preserved and so magical. Pure Life!!

The house is large, bright, and has a lot of breeze. we have a balcony for yoga or rest in the hammock with a beautiful sunset, we have a wood oven. We are 5 minutes from the Agujitas River where you can swim, 30 minutes walking to the beach. We can organize any activity for you such as hikes to Corcovado National Park, snorkeling or diving at Caño Island, canopy, hiking, kayaking, horseback riding.
Private room is on second floor of the house with a balcony to enjoy overlooking the rainforest and beautiful sunset. The room has windows on each side of the house so you can really get a true rainforest experience. With a 5 minute walk to the river, you can cool off easily on a hot day. Enjoy early morning yoga and meditation with Trista on the balcony.
We live on the edge of the rainforest right up the road from the river. Cada Brisa Tropical is about 3 kilometers from Drake town Center. We only have a few neighbors so it is always peaceful and full of tropical birds and sometimes monkeys and other animals come visit our property.
  • Trista and her husband were very nice and welcoming. Trista was very helpful, she helped us for the different activities we wanted to do, she let us use her washing machine and let us stay a bit longer before leaving! A lovely home and family, our stay was very peaceful!

    Coralie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Trista's house allows us to say that the essential in life are the people with whom we live. Material things do not matter and this parenthesis with Trista and his family does a lot of good. Trista has been very available to us!

    Christophe & Cyrielle2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Trista’s Airbnb was great. It is a very simple accomodation, don’t expect a super clean and luxury room. But it’s a great place for the perfect jungle experience. The room is on the first floor and very open, so you can hear the whole jungle. Especially at night, this is really great. It felt like sleeping completely outside and I felt totally energised when I woke up. Mosquitos haven’t been a problem. Trista also recommended and booked a day trip to the Corcovado National Park for me. Thanks a lot, Trista!

  • Trista’s place is about a 30 minute walk from the main town. It is quirky and rustic with a huge attic / first floor room which I loved. Tiny birds flew in in the morning and there is a hammock on a sort of outside (covered) platform with amazing views. Trista and her partner were very kind hosts. Trista cheerfully ordered taxis for us when we couldn’t face the walk back - there was a LOT of rain! ( we went in the rainy season). She also let us use her twin tub - very versatile- and cooked us really delicious breakfasts. If you are looking for the simple life in the middle of nature and enjoy walking this is a great place to go!

Scarlet House was designed to be our full time residence. We plan on building a small hotel that caters to group retreats and nature enthusiasts. Until then, we are opening our home to share with the world. Completely off the grid but with all the amenities to make you feel comfortable. Our diverse ecosystem provides experiences that you can only get here. Beaches, mountains, animals, forest, all here! The Osa Peninsula is the best place on earth!
Our house is unique in this area. We love the jungle and the ocean but we also like to come home to conveniences. We have hot showers, clean drinking water, a full kitchen, a strong solar electricity system, and great Wi-Fi. This may seem standard but that is not the case in this area. The house is screened-in open air and does not have air conditioning. There are not any properties with air conditioning in the area. Every room does have a fan and you will find that the nights cool down significantly. Our property has many fruit trees including, pineapple, mangos, avocado, limes, bananas, plantains, jack fruit, mandarin, cacao, cashews, coconuts, and more! We also have a garden for you to pick from. You are welcome to anything you find on our property. We want to be open that we do have cameras on the property. However, all of the cameras are outside of the house and no cameras are inside. The cameras are to monitor the property when nobody is present.
The most biologically intense place on earth, according to National Geographic, provides endless opportunities to see things you cannot see anywhere else. Bring your binoculars and cameras. You will have plenty of plants and animals to see. Four species of monkeys, scarlet macaws, ant eaters, 1000 year old trees, just to name a few. As the crown jewel of the Osa Peninsula, Carate is the last stopping point to enter Corcovado National Park. You must travel by foot approximately 3.5 KM to the park entrance. There is also yoga classes, surfing, zip lining, kayaking, horseback riding, gold panning, spa treatments, and much more that we can organize for you. We are here to make sure that you have the best vacation possible.
  • Highly recommend!! Super remote and unique jungle experience but with the beach a short walk away and all the essential comforts of home. The property manager Gary is an amazing guide and really made our trip one to remember. Thanks again!

  • To all the other reviews that tell of this remarkable, perfect place to stay in Carate, I say DITTO! What an experience! We were kind of fortunate to have Justins house be our first stay in Costa Rica for our first ever visit to this wonderful country. The Osa Peninsula is a magical haven in a crazy world that you should by any means try to experience. Justins house is completely off the grid like everything in this southern part of the peninsula and well worth the long, bumpy, dusty journey from Puerto Jimenez to get there. The house is very nicely done with everything you need and very comfortable. Absolutely gorgeous property, dont miss the walk up the road of this property above the house to see the views!! Well worth the effort to get up early to see sunrise or must see sunsets. The house is just across the street from the Pacific shore and while you know it is not beachview house it is close enough to hear waves crashing in the background that mixes in nicely with jungle sounds to create a wonderful ambiance. The walk to the beautiful otherworldly beach is only a few minutes easy walk from the house. Stand in the kitchen in the morning and watch the monkeys right in front of you jumping between trees while Macaws and other exotic creatures are all around. Do not miss this. Gary the caretaker and guide is priceless. He has lived in this area all his life and the passion, knowledge, skill, humility and helpfulness of this man is a joy to experience. We took a tour with him into Corcovado park and also a sunrise kayak trip in the lagoon. Highly recommend both as an absolute must! Gary is the bomb.com.

  • Wow. Just wow... Where to begin... Okay so this was our second time coming to the Osa Peninsula so we knew what to expect (crazy dirt roads --rent that 4WD, dense jungle, amazing Flora and fauna, beautiful black sand beaches). However, this time was different, this time was a bit more special, because we were bringing our four tween and teenage sons with us. This was our first international family vacation and we couldn't have picked a better spot than Justin's Scarlet House. Overall the trip took us an entire day, from the flights to a drive that took about eight hours from San Jose to Justin's house. And it was Worth. Every. Single. Second!! We would do that trip 10 times over if we had to. We arrived at Scarlet House a bit later than we had intended. We made a few stops to eat and get groceries, but I was in contact with Justin the whole time and he let the Caretaker, Gary, know when we would be arriving. We got we got to the Scarlett house at about 9 p.m. and we were greeted by Gary. Gary helped us get situated in our new "home for the next few days". It was already late so we didn't get to really talk to him much. He showed us around the house and was very welcoming. It was already very dark out when we arrived and we couldn't really see much of the surrounding grounds. However, the house itself was absolutely immaculate. There were so many little touches that were really thoughtful such as the fresh coconuts sitting in the fridge waiting for us to drink them, the shampoos and body washes in the showers, the bamboo rayon sheets that felt like silk, the fans in every room, the bottles of water that were left in the fridge for us, the list goes on... The beds were super comfortable, and the bathrooms.. oh my, they were heavenly!! Rainfall showerheads in each bathroom along with lit scented candles made each bathroom feel like a spa... None of us could wait to take a hot shower after that 24hr trip we'd just taken and getting an opportunity to do so in our mini spas made it all the better! Each bathroom was equipped with fluffy towels, washcloths, shampoo, body wash, and even some feminine products just in case! The kitchen was also very well equipped. We had everything we needed to cook all of our meals. Pots, pans, a Costa Rican coffee maker, cups, wine glasses, mugs, utensils, a full sized refrigerator, and gas stove... You name it, they had it. It really was an absolute pleasure cooking in that kitchen. The island provided enough space for meal prep as well as a space for all of us to sit and eat. I loved being able to cook my food and do the dishes as I looked out the window watching the hummingbirds, parakeets, and monkeys make their daily passes in the backyard throughout the day. While we were there, a lovely woman with a kind spirit, Marbela, came to clean up the house. She was a pleasure! I happened be home when she came as I was a bit under the weather (As an aside-- this house has a spectacular medicine cabinet right outside the door!! I made myself many teas with the treasures in Justin's yard that cleared me right up, but I digress...), and she washed the sheets and cleaned up the bathrooms and kitchen, as well as the common areas for us. I had no idea she would be doing this during our stay and it was very welcome. I did my best to keep the home clean, but with 4 nature loving children who take after their father, there was always something to be done and having Marbela come really eased that load for us!! Now, on to our stay... Let me just say this... Gary was an integral part of our vacation. He was absolutely wonderful in every single way. We all loved him. The first morning after arriving we had a small issue with one of the toilets so I sent him a msg on WhatsApp and 5 minutes later he was at the house... 2 minutes after that the issue was resolved! As a matter of fact, any time we needed anything, he was ready, willing, and able to help. I should also mention the fact that Justin did a wonderful job of keeping in touch with me as well! Even though Justin wasn't there he was in contact with Gary to make sure all was going well. He would also reach out to me throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. He even reached out to me when he heard I wasn't feeling well to make sure that I was okay! With repect to the excursions-- As Gary is also a tour guide, we thought it would be great to do all of our tours with him. When Gary came over the first morning we set our schedule for all of the different activities we would be doing throughout the week. Gary gave us ample information and helped us make sure we were prepared for all of the tours. We went horseback riding, took a tour of Corcovado, kayaking on the lagoon at sunset, gold panning, hiked through the primary forest, and we went on a night hike. All of the tours were AMAZING!!! Gary was full of information and he was happy to tell us about all the animals that we encountered. He made sure he answered all of the kids questions, and boy were there many! He would even stop on the way to some of our tours to show us different animals he came across as we were en route. He spotted so many animals from afar that we were all really impressed. About 8 out of 10 times I couldn't see the animals unless

  • Justin and Gary are two one of a kind super hosts! If you want to stay in a self contained home rather than a lodge, please do not look any further - you won't find anything better. Both are super responsive, helpful and warm hearted. We would recommend anyone to stay with them. Also if you are looking for tours or advice there is no need to even leave the house. Gary is the best guide in town and awesome with kids. We wish them all the best for their future plans!

  • Paradise! Plain and simple. This place is magical and Gary is a true gem - so kind and knowledgeable. Everything was exactly as described in the listing and surpassed our expectations in every way. Pura Vida!

  • I've stayed in Carate before but this was the first time I stayed at a house rather than a hotel/lodge and I'm so glad I did. The property is beautiful and the house was amazing. The pictures don't do it justice. Justin and Evee responded quickly to any questions I had and the house had everything we could need. Gary was so helpful and was the best guide. He took us to the national park right down the road and he enhanced every aspect of the experience.

    Britny2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • I'd like to think my wife and I are fairly well-traveled and have stayed in some memorable places, but we've never stayed at a place like this. 16 acres (all to yourself) of the most bio-diverse, beautiful jungle you can imagine. We spent hours hiking around the property, trying to absorb the views of the ocean and lagoon from the ridge above and how untouched this part of the world remains...the amount of animals and birds we saw on the property alone (most of which I've never seen) was crazy. We kept saying we felt the house was dropped into a nat geo episode. The hosts, Justin and Evee, were very responsive and accommodating. The house itself was everything we needed and more, and as described in the listing. Very comfortable. The beach is an enjoyable short walk away. We could have lived off all the fresh fruit on the property. Gary (the hosts local employee) is the man. He can get you anything you need and is a world-class guide.. take advantage of that. He took us on a sunrise, kayak tour through the lagoon a short walk away that is a must, along with many walks through jungle and Corcovado...the guy can spot things you would never see. We'll be back again soon, hopefully for longer. If you stumble onto this review, do yourself a favor and book. We're still buzzing from our stay... the overall 'experience' of this will place will blow you away.

  • Puri Mas is a very special location, with lots of stunning wildlife, extraordinary views and the most amazing jungle sounds! Our hosts Claudine & Ghislain were very friendly and helpful, and the accommodation was spectacular and clean. The evening meals were exceptional, with almost everything beautifully home-made - and the breakfasts included various home-made breads, marmalade, cocoa butter and smoothies. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!

  • We loved our stay. Claudine & her husband are the most amazing hosts. Puri Mas is such a beautiful spot of nature with lots of wildlife combined with great accommodation & food. • What a find! Beautiful place in the middle of the forest. Great walking trails on the property with easy access to Puerto Jiménez, a lovely little town. Claudine and Ghislaine were excellent hosts, there when we needed anything but not intrusive of our space. Claudine’s cooking is fantastic and excellent value. We stayed for 5 nights and would happily have stayed longer. We didn’t rent a car but would do so if (when!!) we returned. A 4x4 is the sensible choice this time of year. Cannot praise this place highly enough, we loved everything about it. Fingers crossed that we see the tapir next time! Thank you both for making our stay so special xx

  • This is a wonderful breath of fresh air - a little out of the way, but that’s part of the charm. They help you arrange tours in the area if desired, and have a small hiking opportunity on their own land. Our favorite part of the stay was the optional breakfast in the morning (with freshly baked bread!), tour we arranged with Ficus Tours. 10/10 piece of paradise!

  • Our stay at Claudine’s place was great! We fell in love with it. Nature all around makes it extra special. The construction and the details of the main house and villas are superb. Plus Claudine’s cooking was delicious. She accommodated the meals to ours raw vegan and gluten free diets. Highly recommend this place! Thank you Claudia and Ghislain you were great hosts! • Puri Mas is a really wonderful place to stay. The cottage is beautifully constructed with everything you need. We cooked a couple of meals in the open kitchen which was well equipped. We loved sitting on the deck watching the fabulous birds and enjoyed our walk through the forest to the river, where we swam. Claudine and Ghislain were perfect hosts. We enjoyed their company and hearing about how the landed up in this part of paradise. You won’t regret booking a stay here.

  • Puri Mas is the place to stay if you’re visiting Costa Rica. The guest house has a fully equipped open air kitchen and the bedroom and bathroom is screened in. The space is tastefully decorated and the grounds are stunning, with fruit trees, gardens, and Toucans and Macaws flying overhead. There are trails on the grounds, and Puri Mas is near Parque Nacional Corcovado, which is a must-see. The guesthouse is next to the main house while still retaining a sense of privacy with well placed trees and a deck perfect for lounging on the side opposite the main house. Claudine and her husband are warm and welcoming, as well as outstanding cooks. The main house functions as a restaurant and if you choose to eat meals at the main house, you’re sure to be satisfied. From freshly baked bread and perfectly ripe fruit at breakfast to fresh gazpacho and a killer lasagna at dinner, Claudine’s is the place to eat in the area if you appreciate delicious, thoughtfully prepared food. We couldn’t have asked for better hosts or a more beautiful setting.

But even more amazing than the accommodation was the hospitality of Emilio and his family. Each morning, Emilios mother cooked a wonderful breakfast and Emilio was always giving local tips and even washed our laundry for free. We also did a fantastic night tour with his brother which we highly recommend.

Bahía Drake (Drake Bay) is a small bay on the north side of the Osa Peninsula on the Costa Rica southwestern coast. This bay is believed to be a port used by Sir Francis Drake in the 16th century and the location of one of the British pirate's fabled hidden treasures. There are kilometers of natural coastline with rocky crags and sandy coves that extend from the village of Bahía Drake toward the Corcovado National Park boundary, about 20 kilometers to the south. Casa Drake is located near the Corcovado National Park and Caño Island. Corcovado National Park occupies about a third of the peninsula. • Hotel Bella Vista really lived up to its name! Each morning and evening you get to experience a brilliant view of ocean waters and foliage canopies while eating in their attached restaurant. They were even able to accommodate our vegan / vegetarian diet with some of the best tostones in Costa Rica! The rooms are spacious and clean, had electricity, fans, and a nice shower. The hotel is a couple minutes walk from an incredibly beautiful beach. The hosts were really helpful and friendly. They were even able to make the calls to arrange our tour of Corcovado. Definitely a great place to stay!

  • Hotel Bella Vista was wonderful!! The room was really nice and the trip was made even better by the onsite restaurant and the wonderful staff there (Willy and his staff). The food and the views from the restaurant were truly awesome!! I have to come to Costa Rica 22 times now...… and I WILL be back to visit Hotel Bella Vista again!!

    Billy2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Olga’s place has everything we are longing for Costa Rica. You have the open ocean view from the dinning area. Walking distance to the jungle trail. As well as the prefect quite rincon beach...the food is amazing! Olga makes the best desert you can find in this country. And we keep ordering the same fish fillet b/c it is just too good to try a different dish... we have a wonderful stay at here. All the stuff are super warm and helpful. They are just like your family. Highly recommend!!!

  • We had such an amazing time at Olgas place. Her and William made us feel very much at home and even catered for our vegetarian and vegan diets. They were extremely helpful with whatever we needed and nothing was a problem. The accommodation is cosy and comfortable and is located in quite a remote area away from the hustle and bustle of Drake Bay, which is perfect if want to immerse yourself in the nature that completely surrounds you. The mostly deserted beach is just across road, you can take walks into the jungle, horse rides along the beach or simply relax in the hammock. One thing to note is that there are no ATM's or banks that accept foreign cards in Drake Bay so best come prepared with cash for transport etc. This is definitely a gem hidden away in the Osa Peninsula. Can highly recommend!!!

  • Spartan and welcoming environment, excellent place to isolate yourself from everything, kindness and discretion. We recommend it

  • Wonderful encounter in Bella Vista, a little corner of paradise lost at the end of the road, 100% family, far from tourist circuits. high quality local cuisine with Olga and Maria who love to cook and please visitors. 4x4 preferably with the rivers to be crossed. Lots of animals nearby, parrots and toucans, tapir, ranas, monkeys ... with a breathtaking view of the sunset at the top of the viewpoint. Please take care of this address so that it remains that of the first days ...

The loft space has a window facing a mango tree so you can often see monkeys right from your room.
We offer an array of tours to help you explore this amazing area including the Corovado National Park tour, Cano Island snorkeling & scuba diving, horseback riding, kayaking, night hikes, whale & dolphin watching, etc. There is an endless list of things to do here. If you just want to relax, you can also chill out on our private beaches!
  • Jungla del Jaguar is in a great location -away from it all. Arrive by boat, or choose to do the 5+ hour hike in! We snorkeled right outside the accommodation and had many swims in our 3 days there. Great hikes right from the accommodations and all the usual Corcovado tours can be arranged. Shame the kitchen is no longer in use for guests. Food on offer is tasty, would have been better if they had been able to catch (spearfishing) some fish as a lot of dishes are fish based.

  • Jungla Del Jaguar is the perfect place for people seeking both a beautiful tropical destination and a great adventure! It is a bit of a journey to get there but the destination is more than worth it. The lodge itself is wonderful, the excursions are fantastic, the property and surrounding hiking trails are great, the food is top notch, and the staff are all warm and welcoming. We made memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you for everything!

  • We had an amazing trip and would recommend this place to any adventurous person!

    Ruth2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Leo's place was the best way to experience Costa Rica's pura vida. Susanna was such a warm, friendly host. We had lots of fun seeing wild animals strolling by. We were there for 5 days and there weren't any boing moments – we had different activities to do every single day. We will miss this place so much.

  • Adventure Awaits ! This is a voyage into a time that stands still ! Sleeping to the sounds of the ocean , even when it rains is so wonderful ! Everything has thoughtful touches and you felt like family . I cannot day enough good things about JUNGLA DEL JAGUAR ! The boat ride is not for those prone to seasickness and yiu should not be afraid to get wet ! I made friends and we hiked the trails , found the bat caves , watched wild tapirs stroll up from the rocks and monkeys in the canopy . The fish was fresh caught by a James the guide , Kimberly is such a gracious hostess and Erika is super sweet . It was a pleasure to meet the matriarch and learn about the wonderful history of this homestead turned hostel ! My son and I had the greatest time the only complaint is it was over too fast ... travelers tip. Don’t be afraid to being some food , there is a kitchen for guests but do try Chefs amazing eats as well ! I plan to return in summer with my other children .... 💕⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Kellee2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • To sum it up: we had a perfect time and agreed on the fact that this place was one of the most wonderful we have ever stayed at! The cabins are really nice and spacious, perfectly clean and the view is amazing. Waking up to the sound of the birds and monkeys next to the Hostel and watching them while sitting at the breakfast table...what else is there to wish for? We also enjoyed the wonderful beaches, tide pools and the adventurous jungle hikes a lot. Definitely ask for the wale watching tour, it is more than spectacular! The water is really clear and has a great variety of fish, so if you are looking for a place for (spear-) fishing or snorkeling this is the perfect spot. The staff as well as the owner is very friendly and the cocktails are delicious but the meals and drinks are probably not affordable for low budget travelers. The guest kitchen could be a little nicer but it is equipped with the most important items. Just note that you have to do the grocery shopping beforehand (there is no grocery store nearby). If you are thinking about coming to Jungla del Jaguar do it! If you want to experience the best parts of what Costa Rica’s nature has to offer - this is most certainly what you are looking for!

  • 2 night stay, very welcoming and attentive hosts. We recommend without hesitation

  • I made a reservation in a hurry thinking it's located in Drake Bay - but in the end it turned out amazing for making this mistake! This place is magical, peaceful and so much less touristy that the Drake Bay. You'll see parrots from the terrace of the restaurant, ocean view is lovely, hummingbirds right after you step out of the room. Olga and her family arranged a night walk and a horse tour for us which were both simply amazing and unforgettable. The beach is one of my favourite in the world, very little people, surrounded by palm trees and the lush forest. The whole staff were amazingly kind, welcoming and always helpful with any of our questions. They also offered to take us back to Drake Bay to catch the ferry back to Sierpe. I just can't recommend enough this place. Thank you for everything!!!! Pura vida!

  • It is an incredible place, removed from all the worldly noise. Able to rest, delight in the sounds of nature and savor the little moments to which we are no longer accustomed. The staff is super friendly, charming, helpful creating a totally family atmosphere. The food very good and well priced. Without a doubt, if we had more time we would have stayed in this place. We will repeat !!!! (We also have the Night Route pending) Thank you for everything, you have behaved with us as a family.

CASA ISEAMI (ISEAMI HOUSE) OsaPeninsula, Costa Rica Breathtakingly spectacular views characterize this LEED designed house located at the gateway to the Corcovado National Park on the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica, described by National Geographic as one of “the most geographically intense places on the planet”.
This home, which is a dream location for many, is private and secluded, sitting atop its own mountain and a 74-hectare private reserve,it enchants the visitor with its 360 degree panoramic view of Carate Beach, a sweet water lagoon, as well as the Pacific Ocean and a primary rain forest. Casa Iseami has won numerous awards for sustainability and design and generates its own power from solar panels and a Pelton wheel turbine, allowing for a comfortable but limited supply of energy. It uses both passive and active measures to fit the needs of its occupants.  When I hear Costa Rica, I always think lush vibrant vegetation, blue skies, and ocean breezes. This home has all of those things and more, all through a tropical architecture concept. It provides a link between the visitor and nature. The house is the first stage of the ISEAMI institute, (Institute of sustainability, ecology, art, mind and investigation) therefore, its design will serve as a multifunctional place in order to host activities as investigation, meditation, training, Yoga and joy at the terrace located on the first level. It opens up to a large patio and swimming pool, great for entertaining and relaxation. The white steel and glass design yields open views of the environment and the sea below. The upper level, raised above the forest floor, is a private residence with all the creature comforts of an urban setting. The distribution of the house looks for a new way of living in which all activities have the possibility to be developed outside. This way the integration between the interior and the exterior become successful and natural, creating possibilities to enjoy nature in its original state as much as the occupants desire to. The home has been given an open, airy design that allows breezes and cross-winds to maintain a comfortable base temperature.  The distribution and other important assets are as follows: The 2-story, 4 bedroom, 3 bath house has 2 king beds upstairs and one queen bed downstairs, comfortably sleeping three couples. Arrangements can be made to accommodate children in bunk bed in separate bedroom. There is one full size bed and one single bed. The kitchen is equipped with a 4 burner gas stove, gas oven, and refrigerator, and in the living room there is cable TV and a DVD player. The beautiful upstairs wrap-around balcony has a dining room table that seats 12. Downstairs is the deck and pool (the latter featuring a shallow submerged platform for chaise lounges) in addition to another dining area for 8, next to the gas barbeque. The versatile first floor area can be used for setting up the ping-pong table or massage table, or be used for other purposes, such as meditation and yoga. Daily cleaning maid service is included. Linen is changed two times in the week for conservation purposes. The maid can cook as well for an extra $30 a day to be paid directly to her. Transportation is available to and from the local airport in Puerto Jiménez (50 minutes away) only on weekly rentals or the close-by private airstrip located in Carate (2 minutes away). High speed wi-fi Internet is available in the house. We can provide grocery shopping upon request on behalf of the customers at a fee. Do not forget to bring ice and flash lights for walking at night in the forest. Kayaking and hiking on the private reserve is free of charge. There is a nice hike in the forest to a nearby waterfall. Other: Corcovado National Park is a treasure and part of the country’s extensive national Parks system, featuring over 2% of the planet’s biodiversity. We can arrange guided hiking tours. 45 minutes away is Matapalo Beach with world class surfing. Boats can be chartered at Golfo Dulce (1.30 hours away) to enjoy a day of incomparable fishing on the country’s Pacific Coast. Horse-back riding tours around the lagoons and on the beach can also be arranged. What can one say other than “Breathtaking”? Not only are the location and views a dream, but the architecture and interior represents the whole beauty of the landscape. As for the appearance of the home, the photos below speak for themselves.
