Your guide to Cultus Lake

All About Cultus Lake

Nestled in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley, Cultus Lake sits pretty on the river of the same name, enshrouded by the natural beauty of Cultus Lake Provincial Park. Perch yourself on the dock of a Cultus Lake cabin and watch the water glimmer in the sunlight, with gentle breezes from the surrounding forests sending ripples across the surface. Many believe the lake to be bottomless, and some have even reported mystical occurrences happening here — ask around town to hear the local folklore. Nature lovers come here year-round to take part in all manner of outdoor activities — kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, camping, and swimming in the Provincial Park are all popular open-air pursuits.

Cultus Lake also draws in visitors with a burgeoning local dining scene, charming independent shops, and a lakeside waterpark with leisurely floating routes and high-octane slides alike. Those looking for a casual day in the sunshine away from the water will love teeing off at the area’s tree-lined golf course.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Cultus Lake

The majestic beauty of Cultus Lake — along with its sandy beaches, lush forest trails, and family-friendly activities — means that summer is a popular time to visit. The shoulder seasons of spring and fall are beautiful times to explore the lake too, with more of the area to yourself and a changing natural environment to explore. In fall, the leaves change color, making the already picturesque scenery even more so. In the spring, you can admire all the new green growth and blooming flowers that appear. During the winter months, Cultus Lake Park is a strong draw for visitors looking to celebrate the holiday season by enjoying the stillness of the lake, taking in the snow-covered mountains, and getting into the festive spirit with the local holiday lights display.

Top things to do in Cultus Lake

Teapot Hill

Teapot Hill hike is a short, uphill journey that provides beautiful views of Cultus Lake, with an added touch of whimsy. Hidden along the trail are dozens of handmade teapots. The collection has grown over time as hikers add their own offerings, giving Teapot Hill a playful vibe.

Cultus Lake Waterpark

Cultus Lake Waterpark is the largest waterpark in British Columbia. It offers several thrilling water rides, including single and group slides with dizzying twists and turns, as well as options for racing against other members of your group. May the best slider win.

Cheam Lake Wetlands

The Cheam Lake Wetlands were turned into a national park in 1990, and have become a popular destination for birdwatching, picnics, scenic strolls, and family outings. Set against the backdrop of Mount Cheam, and not far from Chilliwack, the wetlands offer three hiking trails with little elevation change, making them accessible for varied ages and abilities. The first trail takes you over floating bridges and leads to a raised, wooden viewing platform, while the Creek Trail follows a small, tranquil stream through a forested area.
