Point of Interest
“This national treasure is one of the most remarkable natural sites in Turkey. Once you see it, you will know, why is is called "Pamukkale," literally "cotton castle." The white calcium deposits formed this unusual site over millenia. While you are here, do not forget to visit the ancient pool - you will never find another place where you can swim among the thousands of years old ancient columns. Also nearby is the ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis, with its impressive amphitheater. A true highlight of any visit to Turkey. You can combine Ephesus and Pamukkale on a one-night, two day organized trip from Bodrum. These tours are remarkably inexpensive.”

“The spectacular ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis is located in Pamukkale. The open air museum is truly impressive, and the small indoor museum is very well designed and lit. Make sure to visit this area if you come and visit Travertines of Pamukkale. Most people miss it.”
