Park
“We may not have a large back yard, but we have the largest back garden in the country! Grab your hiking boots, or your trainers and enjoy walks in the peaks and ravines of the UK's most beautiful park. Filled with waterfalls, climbing spaces, picnic spots and breadth taking views, a visit to Sheffield without taking a walk or here would be like taking a bath with no water... well for me anyway! ”

“Woolaton Hall and Park are Nottingham's number 1 attraction especially during the refurbishment of Nottingham castle. The park is home to a boating lake, deer, and coppices. There is a golf course that is quite challenging. The Hall was also used as Bruce manor for the filming of the Batman trilogy.”

“An unusual and interesting place, only accessible by cable car, into an open air museum depicting the history of lead mining there. There’s a really informative guided walking tour into one of the mines (be advised there are a lot of steps!). Fascinating for children too and there’s a good cafe and play park. ”

Entertainment
“Some of you may recognise this as Batman’s house, and it is commensurately impressive with beautiful architecture and surrounded by Wollaton Deer Park. The deer roam free here so you can walk right up to them with no fence in between. Please keep in mind they are wild animals and it isn’t a petting zoo, but they are truest amazing to spend time with. There is at least one festival here every year, ‘Splendour’ that’s family friendly and is a good day of music.”

“Tiny Craft Beer Pub with limited seating. Its in Kelham Island and is a little rough and ready around the edges, and full of proper Sheffielders - although the word is out even in the New York times about this place. The craft beer is exceptional.”

“Well kept real ales, carefully selected wine list and exceptional food - in The Good Food Guide since 2009; also in Michelin and Sawdays guides. The dining room and snug have been restored to their original simplicity with lime plastered walls and farmhouse furniture. Candlelight and fresh flowers add a touch of elegance. Benches outside on the village green make a great stopping point on a walk, set in the pretty village of Alstonefield. 8.3 miles away”
