“One of the most important examples of Byzantine architecture found in Dalmatia, Zadar's Church of St. Donatus is one of the city's top historic attractions. Dating back to the 9th-century, it was originally named the Church of the Holy Trinity but later re-named after Bishop Donat. While exploring this architectural marvel, note that it is famed for its unique circular form flanked by three circular apses. Built on top of the old Roman forum, the building incorporates many elements of the original structure, including two of the supporting pillars.”

“You've seen dozens of wonderful sunsets in movies but too beautiful to be true. Well in Zadar, beautiful romantic sunsets, are real! Alfred Hitchcock also said that Zadar sunsets were the most beautiful in the world and he was right. The sky takes an orange-pink colour, the sun is huge and it dips gently into the sea and offers an unforgettable and amazing show.”

Other Great Outdoors
“A trip to the Telaščica Nature Park is an unmissable part of a visit to Dugi Otok – it’s within biking distance from Sali. Telašćica Bay is a 8km deep inlet dotted with bays, islets and cliffs. A spectacular saltwater lake lies next to the bay – the water is warm and you can swim there. Legends abound about hidden treasure and ancient inhabitants with five horns on their heads. More visible treasure is the wildlife that abounds there, from pine to fig to olive to moufflon (a kind of wild sheep). Although the park is not commercialised, there are facilities for tourists providing fresh fish and local wine. Paradise indeed.”

“The beach gained its reputation with the whiteness of the sand and clean sea, surrounded by pine trees that provide a welcome shade in the summer. It is about 800 meters long and at some 250 meters from the shore it is 3.5 meters deep, which means that the bathing area is extremely large and shallow and suitable even for young children. On the beach are two catering facilities that offer refreshment from the summer heat and light snacks. ”
