Indian Restaurant
$$
“We absolutely love this place, it's an indian restaurant but it's not your typical curry house. They're open all day, and we'd genuinely recommend going any time, as we've been for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and all of them are great. It's got a cocktail room downstairs where you can wait for a table - they don't take bookings.”

Mexican Restaurant

“Simply the best tacos in town. Great food. Great margaritas (shaken recommended). Great music. No bookings taken, and it does get busy, but you can put your name down and go across the street to Bon Vivant for a pre-meal cocktail (they even have suggested cocktails for those waiting for an El Cartel table).”

Thai Restaurant
$$
“This definitely isn't the best Thai in Edinburgh (Dusit), it's just good, however - the rooftop restaurant and terrace have amazing castle views, as well as being a good cocktail bar you can drink in before/after. So still somewhere we'd recommend especially if this is your first time in Edinburgh and want to enjoy a good view of the castle over dinner.”

Seafood Restaurant

“The little brother of the original Fishers in Leith (see other entry) So it is probably the second-best fish and seafood restaurant in Edinburgh. You need to book. Not the cheapest but worth every penny!”

“Gorgeous hidden New Town Gem of a Pub. Foodwise, I get the oysters and a stout when I'm here. Every visitor should grace it's presence but try to avoid the local's after work crowd.”

“This summer the Bistro have been offering a 3 course menu with a cocktail for just £23 per person. My husband and I enjoyed a table at the window looking over St. Andrews Square and across to the Castle. The sun was setting so it was a stunning location and the food was delicious. ”
