Cafe
“ This cafe is located in the town of Elk, approx. 15 miles south of Mendocino. It will take 20-30 minutes, depending on season and traffic. Driving along the coast is scenic and beautiful, so take your time. The food is great, atmosphere even better. This is a local spot and very popular, so during the summer season, can require a bit of a wait. If you have a larger party, they will take a reservation, otherwise, its first come, first seated. There is an outdoor deck that has a nice view to the ocean side. It can be a bit brisk, even in summer, so have layers to don. The beach is located across the street and is a great way to either work up an appetite or work off a meal. ”

Liquor Store
“A great small store with tasty deli sandwiches - I recommend the hoagie bread and the mendo mix (Mendocino mustard and mayo) with your favorite fillings. There is a nice selection of tasteful gifts and local wines as well. ”

Locally-sourced cuisine served over a Pacific coastline view
“If you are looking for an experience akin to a Michelin Star restaurant, look no further. Matthew Kammerer, discovered the Mendonoma area while working his way up from commis to executive sous chef at Saison in San Francisco. Having learned everything he could at Saison, he has now brought his long time dream of running a restaurant at a remote country inn, to fruition. Much of the food is prepared from what the Inn's grounds and nearby forests have to offer.”
