We offer a two-story in-law apartment with a private entrance that is attached to our 1850 Poultney Village home. We are located a block away from Main Street with shops, books, and eateries. We are in the lakes region of Vermont, close to both Lake St. Catherine and Lake Bomoseen. Killington is 35 miles away. We are also located a mile from the NY border and the entrance to Lake George and the Adirondacks.
Our apartment is suitable for up to two adults. The bedroom and bath are upstairs. Linens and bedding for our queen-sized bed will be supplied. The bath contains a porcelain bathtub shower. Downstairs has a kitchen and a sitting room that has a small futon and a couple of chairs. The kitchen area contains a small refrigerator with freezer, a sink, and an apartment-sized stove. You can find our cast-away cookery there, as well as dishes and utensils. Our guests are letting us know that our Internet connection is spotty. Our house is old and our walls are thick. We also do not have a television in the apartment. We have placed our iPod and its base station on the bookshelves. It is loaded with its 1,947 songs, so if you so choose, we hope that you find a few selections for your listening pleasure!
Poultney Village is small-town Vermont. We boast seasonal events like an outdoor farmers market in Poultney on Thursday mornings and in Rutland on Saturdays, a walkable town (and we live in the middle of it!) with a community library, a used bookstore, a diner, a tavern with music many nights, a rail trail, and Slate Valley Trail System and literally miles of trails and dirt roads, all accessible from our neighborhood.

Your accommodations are minutes from Rutland City, Killington & Pico, the Northeast's premier ski and golf resort. Hiking and mountain biking at Pine Hill Park is but a few minutes from the Benincasa Inn. Several nearby lakes provide spectacular kayaking and outdoor opportunities. A short drive from Rutland is the beautiful McLaughlin Falls, as well as other attractions like Wilson Castle in nearby Center Rutland.
Built around 1890 to 1900 the Benincasa Inn is a few minutes walk from historic downtown Rutland, VT.
The Benincasa Inn is located in the historic South West section of the City of Rutland. One of my neighbors has been living next door for the past 50 years. The street is comprised of single and two family dwellings. A well maintained public space know as "Meadow Street Park" is less than a 4 minute walk down the street. I have enjoyed this wonderful outdoor space since I was a child. And the most spectacular mountain biking and walking trails, such as "Santa's Little Helper" are waiting for you at Pine Hill Park about a mile away. Pine Hill Park is truly one of Rutland's finest gems.
  • Joe was very hospitable - his place is a cozy base for activities in the Killington area. He also has great tips for where to go and how to get around

  • Amazing home! Everything was so beautiful and thoughtful, from the Bluetooth speakers in the bathroom to the painted table. The pictures don’t do the place justice. We had such a mice time and would definitely stay again.

  • We spent a wonderful weekend in this cute, quirky cottage. We fell in love with the funky decor the moment we stepped in. We had everything we needed. The home was clean and welcoming.

  • Such an amazing house, I went skiing at killington with a few of my friends and we all couldn’t of asked for a better experience

    Michael2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures do not do it justice! The bungalow is a wonderful place for your group, included with a nice sitting area where we played games to celebrate the new year and a great cooking space. We found everything we could have asked for and enjoyed a cozy stay.

  • Don't forget the Birdseye Diner!

    Doug2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Gina was a very helpful and flexible host. We communicated with her numerous times before our stay as our plans changed, and she worked with us to make our stay fit our family’s needs. While this made extra work for her, she was cheerful and helpful throughout our interactions. Gina’s cottage is cute and quirky. From the funky chicken dining table to the handcrafted bathroom sink faucets, everything in the house has a unique touch. We cooked Christmas dinner in the house, and found the kitchen to be clean and very well stocked. Beds were comfortable. Clean new towels were provided. We were warm and comfy. The bathroom was clean and really pretty. There were lots of little touches that show the host put lots of care into providing an interesting and enjoyable experience.

This is one of the nicest units I rent. The space is in an historic renovated building in downtown Fair Haven, VT. The space was originally used to manufacture shirts. I have divided the 1600 square feet into a two bedroom loft. It has very high ceiling and windows. It is very spacious and has been completed updated. The loft has it's own kitchen (not shared) and it's own lock and key. Since it is on the top floor of the building, it is very quiet and secure.
Very large kitchen area with appliances including a wine refrigerator. Washer/Dryer available in laundromat located on the ground floor of the building next door. The loft is accessed by tenant's own password or key. The kitchen is in the loft and not shared with others.
Downtown location. Coffee shop, Diner, Pizza House, Laundromat with Tanning Salon, Greek Restaurant, VT State package store, wine and beer shop, Barber Shop, Beauty Salon, new Brew Pub coming soon. Very close to Lake Bomoseen , Lake Dunmore, Castleton University, and Green Mountain College. Twenty minutes to Rutland. Thirty five minutes to Killington Ski Area. Thirty minutes to Pico Ski Area.
  • Great place with everything you need for a great stay. Comfortable beds, clean space and a great little town with charm!

    Tiana2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here during a ski trip to Killington. It’s a bit farther (around 35 min) than some of the other options, but definitely worth it. The apartment was spacious, with two full bedrooms, living room, foyer, etc. and had a fully stocked kitchen and bathroom. It was a a tad difficult to find, but the hosts gave us detailed check in instructions and were generally friendly and quick to respond. Highly recommend!

    Vikram2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • David's place was a great spot for me and my friends to stay while enjoying a long weekend skiing. The place was an easy 40 minutes to Killington. The condo was spacious, very comfortable, and clean. The hosts were accommodating and communicative. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

    Leslie2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was the nicest Air BnB we have ever stayed at! It was sparkling clean and everything; towels, bedding, furniture, appliances were of the highest quality. We did not want to leave! We happened to arrive as Robyn was in the parking lot and she took the time to go up with us and show us around. Such a beautiful and comfortable apartment. Loved the historic preservation and renovations that they have done. Robyn was the best hostess, very accommodating and immediately responded to any questions we had. She also followed up multiple times to make sure there were no issues and we were enjoying our stay. She went above and beyond our expectations. We highly recommend this Air Bnb and are looking forward to staying there again!

    Cheryl2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a beautiful open space!

    Anne2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great family trip to Vermont for skiing. The apartment was one of the nicest Airbnb we have stayed at with plenty of room for a family and a full kitchen for making meals. This is on our list for places to stay when we return to Vermont.

    Robert2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, huge, open space in downtown Fair Haven. Super clean. Great amenities. Big comfortable beds. Thoughtful touches throughout the loft including a Christmas tree! for the holidays and two bins of toys for our children. By far, the best airbnb experience. Thank you David and Robin!

    Gibbs2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures of this place are nice, but do not do it justice. It is a huge space, sparkling clean, quiet and safe, with extremely comfortable beds and all the extra pillows, blankets, towels, etc., you will ever need. It's as if they had a Wayfair designer come in and furnish the place. We had absolutely no issues the entire 8 days we were there. There are two sets of stairs, and floor to ceiling windows on the third floor that do open, so not an appropriate space for little ones or individuals with issues climbing stairs ... but they tell you that in the description. We will be back!

  • Spacious 1 bedroom apartment. Well stocked kitchen. There is a flight of stairs up to the apartment. It is an over the garage apartment. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean.

  • Everything about this place is prefect. Make you feel like you are home. It is comfortable and cozy. All the little touches are amazing.

  • This is a beautiful place to stay and relax. Well stocked with coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, dishes, pots and pans, etc. Very comfortable bed and extra blankets, if you need them. Nice neighborhood, near the lake, near several sites. Close to many activities. Nice deck with table and chairs to enjoy your morning beverage, a meal or just to sit and visit. We have a spacious deck with table and chairs by the pool, a pergola, and a shady deck with table and chairs by the stream.
A renovated 150 year-old, Dutch built, post & beam building which stands alone on our property. Building and interior space largely made with re-purposed pine, hemlock, and southern yellow pine. Augmented by solar heat and sun-room. Pets are welcome as long as they are not left unattended in the space. Please ask for instructions if you choose to use the wood stove.
Basically, neighbors are very limited (1/4 mile away). However, the quaint town of Granville is a quick 5 minute drive away.
  • Incredible guest house. Better than what we could have imagined. Beautiful and comfortable. I can’t wait to return when the weather is warm.

    Dave2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice spot--charming, cozy, and comfortable. The great room with woodstove is amazing. This place is the perfect spot for those with dogs as there is a private entrance and plenty of space. Heating by woodstove was great. We'll plan to return. Thanks!

    Danielle2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The barn brought us warmth and wholesome memories. You will enjoy the area, the comfort of the barn and Ben (thier dog). Everything you could ask for was provided. Enjoy your stay and relax!

    Joshua2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed for one night, but this place far exceeded our expectations. The refurbished barn was beautiful, clean, and homey, and Loraine was a very kind and helpful host.

    Kelly2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • As our first BNB experience, this will be the place we compare all the future BnB stays to, and this has set the bar pretty high. I can say that this is most definitely a great place to stay during the winter, and I’m looking forward to coming back as a regular, during the winter and summer. The reconstructed barn was wonderfully built and delightfully decorated. Everything was tasteful and up-kept with no neglect. With your first step in, you feel comfortable enough to take your shoes off and walk around as if you were home. Many places to hike, a lot of nature to take in, close by fishing areas, and areas for a snowmobile, it doesn’t fall short of things to do outside. Even inside, the house was equipped with multiple things to do, the last night we spent reading a joke book and just laughing until we fell asleep in front of the fire. The hosts were amazing. Friendly and the hospitality was great. It was really nice seeing them and talking to them a lot, getting to know new people. They will definitely be getting a Christmas card from me. The dog and chickens were one of my favorite parts of being there as well. Overall A+

    Tara2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • There are not enough positive words we could tell about Lorraine, Dean and their son Luke. The house is absolutely wonderful, huge, cozy and super clean. It is a perfect spot to relax. Our car broke down when we got there and Dean and Luke spent basically the whole weekend fixing it (they have all the tools you can imagine and they can fix anything!), helping us to get the new parts etc. while Lorraine was providing us with fresh eggs and amazing homemade food. They really went above and beyond and we will never forget their hospitality. A huge thank you to the whole family for having us and sorry for ruining your weekend.

    Jon2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

    Mike2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Loraine's place is the perfect cozy getaway! It was wonderful to unplug and sit by the woodstove, wake up in the loft to the sun bathing the gorgeous wood and glass-blown baubles, and wander the trails around the property! We had a great stay!

We invite you to come stay at the Lake House and experience all of the beauty that Vermont has to offer here at Lake St. Catherine. Located on the west side of the lake off a quiet private drive, you can escape the noise and traffic from the busy tourist season. With almost 100ft of lake frontage, there are few spots with a better view. Watch the sun rise each morning from either of the private decks. Explore the lake by canoe or kayak; both available for our guests to use at any time.
From inside the home you can see the lake from every room. There's lots of natural light from the large windows and two sliding glass doors. The 55" TV has netflix, prime and many other apps through the fire stick. We also have an Echo Dot if you ask Alexa to play something. There's a large bookshelf with lots of interesting titles and some fun board games. Outside, there are two private decks. The lower deck has steps down to the dock where you can take out the kayaks or canoe. No diving from the dock! The water is shallow.
Otto's at Cone's Point has some incredible soft serve ice cream. Ask for Maple Creamy and you won't be disappointed. We get one every time we're at the lake!
  • The best location and hospitality!

    Jennifer2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew’s place is amazing! A really nice getaway location to take a break from everything and get into nature. Everything you need inside a house is there: cookware, towels, hd tv with Alexa, fire pellets for camp fires and the indoor fire stove, and just other small things that make a cabin super cozy. For one of the nights, you have turn light off, go outside to the deck and just look up at the stars. Tip: you need a car to get around + be attentive when you’re arriving the first time or else you might pass the house without realizing. Andrew was quick to respond and super friendly in general. Loved this trip.

    Alina2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Quality family time-- Andrew's house was warm and cozy. Located on a quaint lake, it was very peaceful. My husband and I brought our 4 kids (14,16,28,30). They all loved it!

    Holly2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew was a great host! The location of the house and the views were incredible. Andrew was very responsive and made us feel very comfortable - even after we were snowed in during a storm! Would recommend and stay here again.

    Kristen2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely place to stay for the weekend! Very cozy. Beautiful views waking up in the morning! Andrew was so helpful.

    Diana2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This house is breathtaking in every way! The view left everyone so speechless and in awe. Man, you can never go wrong with this place! The mountain fresh air aided our late night sleep in those very comfy big beds. The kitchen was immaculate and included everything we needed to cook home for three days in a row! My girlfriend and my friends were amazed and tbh I took some credits for it :). Last quite not least, Andrew was always in touch with us! He even brought fresh coffee in the very morning which we found very impressive. And of course the cherry on the top was the morning snow the day we had to leave! So beautiful! It gave us emotions so we decided we will come back here during summer! Thankful!

    Leotrim2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views. Great hikes in VT national forests not too far. Just might be our new favorite spot in VT, and we have a lot of them. If you are looking for a peaceful spot, this is it. Local spots for dining as snacks were great. Thank you!

    Sandra2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • First time using air bnb and Andrew was absolutely the best host. His home was super clean and so pretty. The views were amazing. The beds were so comfortable. Clean, great smelling sheets. He was always there to help me with what seemed to be to me the silliest questions. I loved the fact that he gave me ideas on what to do in the area. My family and I hardly ever have a chance to get together and I’m so glad that we were able to do it in such a magical place. We had an amazing time. Thank you Andrew for being such an outstanding host! We are looking forward to visiting again during the summer of 2020!

  • Very nice place, warm welcome, privacy respected. We stayed with Jane and Fred for 7 days. It was very pleasant and extremely relaxing. A comfortable bed and all the necessary amenities. Ideal for people who ski downhill or snowboard. The proximity of several mountains charmed us. We will definitely stay there again.

    Frederic2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jane and Fred’s place exceeded our expectations. This was the perfect place to come home to after a day skiing at Killington and warm up by the fireplace!

    Nina2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great experience staying at Jane and Fred’s place while we explored this part of VT. Place was clean, cozy, and conveniently located. Would certainly go back!

  • Adorable place and sweet hosts. Sparkling clean, well provisioned and so comfortable. A model for all Air BNB’s.

    Bruce2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 3, including a 6 years old seasoned airbnb-er, enjoyed every single moment being in Jane and Fred's house. They set up the place nice and warm before our arrival. The kitchen has everything we needed to quickly whip up a scrumptious dinner after a long day skiing down the mountain slopes. In the evening, we loved to cuddle around the fireplace and played Scrabble. The communication is excellent. The response to our questions are always immediate. After knowing that I had trouble making the coffee maker work, Jane brought me fresh brew coffee in a thermos the first morning we were there. She retrieved the machine to find out why it was not working. That afternoon when we came back, a brand new coffee maker was sitting on the kitchen counter!!! We felt at home and cared for during our stay. Thank you, Jane and Fred! We will soon be returning!!!

  • Just a wonderful apartment. Definitely somewhere you want to stay for a few days at least. 25 min from Okemo, 35 from killington. Located on a beautiful farm. Very comfortable.

    Stephen2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, welcoming space. So grateful for all the nice touches. Cooking essentials, comfortable bed, fireplace, relaxing living area, etc.

    Patricia2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancé and I have been making weekend trips up to Vermont for a few years now and have stayed at a number of Airbnb’s to date. Our stay at Jane and Fred’s just jumped to the top of our list. The space was super cozy and well-appointed. It had everything we needed and then some. Would be great for a longer stay with plenty of space as well as a washer/dryer in the unit for convenience. Hope to make it back again sometime soon !

  • Great place, great hosts!

    Calvin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Ken and Lori for being such gracious host. You both were very hospitable and quick to answer any concerns we had. When getting injured while snowboarding at Killington, they reached out to make sure I was okay and were willing to come out to the hospital. Ken is an ambassador at Killington and will give tips and recommendations to make the most of your trip. Highly recommend!!

  • Staying at this house doesn’t mean renting an airbnb but sharing moments with your hosts. I now find it really rare to find places like this where you actually get to meet your hosts and discover a little bit of their culture for a short (or longer moment). I really appreciated staying at this place, where we felt really welcomed. Bonus : enjoy the spa, the love of one cutie cat, two dogs, and a nice breakfast in the morning :)

  • Nicole is a great host! Very sweet and accommodating. She helped answer all questions and was super responsive literally to the minute!

    Jen2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nicole has thought of every detail to make her Apartment 1 unit comfortable. It’s extremely tidy. She is a responsive and conscientious host. We appreciated the AC running when we arrived with 90 degree heat. Her location was perfect for our needs and it was a great space to relax and unwind after a long day of travel. Thank you for all the snacks, bottled drinks and a stocked cupboard.

    Eileen2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely Stay. I didn't originally notice from the photos how Christian the decor is. We thought it was funny, but if bible quotes on the walls, towels, and shower curtain make you uncomfortable, be warned. But it was very clean and comfortable. Nicole even left out snacks, and there were staples in the fridge. Such Christian generosity! :)

    Nell2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot! Highly recommend over one of the local hotels. The food and drinks she left were perfect. Nicely decorated with little vignettes of antiques that were interesting to look at. Thank you, will stay here again if available for the next time we are here!

    Rachel2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • It's a great stay, very comfortable, one where you feel good about it. We really enjoyed our stay. It is lacking a TV (fine for us) and the bathroom set up is a bit unusual which one can see in the photo's. WiFi is very good. The location is in a very small hamlet/village, with a small store to buy some staples. We got this as a place to stay while going to Killington. It is about 50 minutes away, while it was a longer trip then most stays there, it's also very nice to have a stay away from the hustle and bustle of the ski crowds. From wife: beds were comfortable, room temp was nice. Kid: I would describe the the place very well, it was awesome, beds were comfy, I likes the games that were there.

  • Our stay was way better than we could expect. We loved the charm the home brings and all the detail Kiki puts into the place. The pictures don’t do the cabin or the backyard view justice and we’d certainly recommend this to anyone who wants a peaceful getaway with a gorgeous view. The welcome book had plenty of suggestions for food and bars and just found an overall great weekend.

    Brandon2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Words can’t put into perspective the peace and tranquillity you’ll find at this location. Clean, quiet, just an all around wonderful experience with a beautiful view off the back deck. Spent the weekend walking the local trails and the evening sitting in front of the fire watching one of the many DVDs to choose from (Sopranos was our choice for the weekend). If you need a weekend getaway to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind you, check this place out you’ll be glad you did :)

    Eric2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kiki’s place is absolutely amazing! Honestly, this has been one of our best Airbnb experiences in Vermont. It was extremely clean and very comfortable. It seemed like every little detail in her cabin is thought through and the owner have gone above and beyond to make this a healthy, cozy home. Also, great location with a short drive to major ski resorts. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay in Kiki’s place!

    Denis2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nice quiet escape from the too busy lifestyle most of us live. This cabin kept us warm and cozy with no problem when it was -2 degrees. The location is perfect, in a quiet place but close to stores and restaurants. We enjoyed the board games that were available to play. There are books to read, movies and coloring books. The lights around the fireplace are a beautiful touch. We were lucky that there was tea (I forgot to bring some) and coffee with a french press. There also was a basket full of items in case you had forgotten to pack certain items. The place was clean and cozy. This is a great place that we would like to visit again as a get away place. Thank you Kiki for being an amazing host!

  • Gatsby's Getaway was exactly what I needed to get me away from my hectic life and towards more zen. It's cozy, comfy and has a beautiful view. Kiki is an outstanding host, responding quickly to my questions and provided guidance on her favorite things to do in the area. I would highly recommend staying here and in any of Kiki's other properties

Enjoy easy year round living within a 5 minute walk of Lake Bomoseen, the largest natural lake in Vermont. Although not directly on the lake, you will have access to our personal dock space, the private homeowners boat ramp, grassy park area, and small private beach. Bring your boat, or rent one from the local marina. Bomoseen is known for its fishing. The Lakes Region of the Green Mountains is known for its beauty and history. The biking, skiing and hiking are excellent. Come and enjoy!
This house used to be our home, and it is very clean and well kept. It is simple, yet fully equipped and comfortable. The deck is great for morning coffee or just relaxing in the sun. It sits on 1/2 acre and has pretty good privacy and a great back yard for frisbee, whiffle ball, etc. The fire pit in the yard makes for a great way to spend the evening. On the 4th of July, you can watch the fireworks from the back yard while enjoying a BBQ!
Our house is on a quiet dead end street with almost no traffic, and feels fairly private. It is about a 5 minute walk to Crystal Beach Park. The Lakehouse Pub is 1/4 mile away. The new Lake Bomoseen Taproom, and The Palms restaurant are about a mile. Castleton is 3 miles and has a variety of eating options, inluding delivery pizza and some limited groceries. Fair Haven is 10 minutes for the closest full grocery store. It is 20 minutes to the bright lights of Rutland, which has all amenities. It is quick, easy access to Castleton University (5 minutes), Green Mountain College (15 minutes), College of Saint Joseph (20 minutes), and Middlebury College (25 minutes).
  • More spacious in person and great communication

  • Very nice home! Driveway space for 2-3 cars, lots of yard. David and Heather were very responsive a gave tips for the area they felt was useful. The town is about 20 minutes away and has many options for food and other stores like five guys, burger king, Tops, and small shops. Great stay, would definitely come back again for a warmer season.

Dresden School No. 2 is an historic one-room schoolhouse in its original location, adjacent to the Lake George Wild Forest. There are eight bunks and cots, booked separately. There are hiking trails and a vernal pond on the premises, a beaver pond nearby, and trails to Spruce Mountain and the shore of Lake George that leave from the premises. A public beach, open all summer, is five miles away, accessible by car. The Black Mountain trail head is four miles away, accessible by car or bicycle.
Dresden School No. 2 is presently furnished as a schoolhouse (with a black slate chalkboard, two large desks with soapstone tops, ten antique folding chairs, and more than three hundred books), and as a bunkhouse (with six bunks, three cots, nine mattresses, a very small dressing area, and a metal dining table). Bedding is not provided. Bring your own blankets or sleeping bags. Each bed is booked separately, at a fixed rate, through duplicate listings on Airbnb. Children accompanied by parents or guardians stay for half-price. I will refund the price differential upon departure. The accommodations resemble the camping barns of England and Wales. There is no heat. There is no electricity, although this could change. As of now, lighting is provided by open windows by day, and railroad lanterns by night. There is no bathroom. The property does feature one of the nicest outhouses in the Adirondacks. Meals are not provided. Cooking is outdoors over an open fire, on a large grill that spans the entire width of the fireplace. There is a spring-fed dug well cased with stone, and a free-flowing mountain stream. Bring your own water, or your own filter, or drink at your own risk, as I do. Smoking is absolutely not allowed.
Dresden School No. 2 is located in a wilderness setting, on the dividing ridge between Lake George and Lake Champlain, on a 23-acre parcel bordering the Adirondack Forest Preserve. It is a landmark, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away, and the nearest village is Whitehall, ten miles away, where there is an Amtrak station.

"Glamping" is a combination of camping and comforts. This is a "dry cabin" (no running water). We provide plenty of potable water for drinking, cooking and outdoor showers. The cabin has cathedral ceilings, open floor plan, full kitchen, ceiling fans, carpeted sleeping loft with linens, outdoor portable restroom, and an outdoor shower. It is a short walk to Glen Lake and Lake Bomoseen beach and camp grounds.
Enjoy an authentic rustic woodland camping experience with a few luxuries: comfy beds, ceiling fans, Wifi, and a kitchen, in a spacious area. Although there is no running water, plenty of water for showers, drinking, and cooking is provided in containers. The kitchen includes a full size refrigerator/freezer, a full size stove, a sink with a drain, as well as a Keurig coffee maker, toaster, microwave, dishes, pots and pans, and cooking utensils. There is an outdoor portable toilet and an outdoor enclosed shower. Hot water heated on the stove can be added to cool buckets of water provided in the outside shower. A battery operated pump provides a nice 3 minute shower. If its chilly, a wood burning stove heats the cabin very well. There is a charcoal grill, charcoal, a portable fire pit, and plenty of firewood provided. This cabin was built in 2008 as a hunting lodge and has been well maintained and used minimally. The cathedral ceilings and pine interior create an impressive open space. Mounted deer heads add to the atmosphere.
Glen Lake is uniquely special in that it is pristine and natural, surrounded by Bomoseen State Park lands rather than private homes. Hiking trails are close by taking you along the lake and beyond. There is a Kayak boat launch at the bottom of the hill; 1/2 mile, and many private areas for bathing at this very clean lake. You may hear the sounds of loons or owls, Eagles are occasionally sighted. We will provide you with a list of local restaurants, shopping, recreation and places that we recommend. A stained glass studio is located in our home.
  • Beautiful location in the woods, yet close to town. Karen and Bill were great hosts, provided for our needs and welcoming. Highly recommend.

    Sandy2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • The owners tell it like it is. Glamping means that there's no running water but the wifi works great. There was plenty of water stored in the cabin for showering, washing dishes, drinking, but you have to heat water on the stove. This is a beautiful spot in the world; the lake, visible from the cabin and a short walk away, is gorgeous in the autumn, with trails all around. We parked the car and didn't move for the weekend. Bill is a gracious and attentive host.

    Efrem2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our little stay at this cabin. It was very cozy and the wood stove was great at filling the open concept with warmth - upstairs too. We spent some time reading the engraved names on the table and looking through the folder of the camp’s own little history, which adds a lot to the ambience. Karen and Bill were great hosts and we’re hoping we can return in the future!

    Riley2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place. Karen was very helpful.

    Craig2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and Bill were very friendly and welcoming. They communicated everything clearly, they had the wood stove burning and ready for us upon arrival and had beer, local creamer, and maple syrup for us in the refrigerator. Super thoughtful. Our family absolutely adored the cabin and the lake. It was hard for us to leave!! We highly recommend these two and their cabin!

    hailey2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • It was a very cozy stay! It was raining throughout our stay and it being surrounded by nature, it was fairly quiet. Sometimes you can hear the cars passing but it’s not so bad. I had the best sleep ever for two days straight! The toughest part would be having to go outside in the middle of the night to use the porta potty. It’s quite a walk from the bed to downstairs to around the porch. The outdoor shower seems interesting. I unfortunately couldn’t use it because it was rainy and cold during our stay. Regardless, it was a great getaway. The surrounding areas were very quaint.

    Charisse2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Location in Bomoseen State Park is truly beautiful. Outdoor shower was nicer than anticipated. If you're down to "rough it," this is a great place.

Seated on 650 acres of farm and woodland, this 1976 ranch provides the perfect spot to get away from it all in a clean quiet environment. This listing is for the rental of one of two rooms available. We are located three miles from town, and over a mile away from our nearest neighbors.
Hiking in the temperate seasons snow play and skating in the winter, this property abounds with trails, logging roads, and is within sight of Killington and Pico ski areas.
All of our neighbors immediate have feathers or fur. This morning we woke to a rafter of turkeys, 13 in all and sized from chic to Gobbler.
  • Marilyn and Michael were the most heartwarming Airbnb hosts we have ever met. They truly make you feel at home as if you were in the same family. Obviously, the beautiful artistic house, fresh breakfast, amazing view from the house, beautiful snow + weather, comfortable and clean bed and bedroom don't need much explanation. :)) Highly recommend it! You won't regret.

    Hangjae2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful stay for our ski weekend in Killington. Marilyn and Michael are superb hosts with a very welcoming home. They were accommodating for our Friday night arrival and provided excellent communication and direction. The bedroom is very comfortable and their home is stylish and cozy. I would absolutely recommend staying here.

    Karla2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at the quiet place. I stayed here for a ski weekend. It is only 30 minutes to Killington, 30 minutes to Okemo 50 min from lake George, and nestled in a quiet part of town 10 min from west Rutland. This area has restaurants, markets, and activities that are more authentic than the overcrowded Killington area. Marilyn and Michael are also excellent hosts and are a pleasure to chat with. I would definitely stay again.

    Emily&Titus2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was the best AirBNB experience as I have stayed at many places over the years. The place was serene and beautiful especially during fall foliage. Marilyn and Mike were caring and helpful and would interact with guests and share stories. They even provide delicious breakfast. I felt very safe and welcomed there. Thank you so much.

    Karin2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place is heaven on earth. Everything was perfect. Marilyn and Michael are truly wonderful persons with amazing stories to share. Me and my friend was there for the Killington Spartan Ultra and they made us feel like home. We tasted different local products wich was absolutely delicious. Definitively my best airbnb experience. I would highly recommend this place.

    Eloi2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough good things about Marilyn and Michael. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome in their home. The property is peaceful and secluded, yet only about 15 mins from downtown Rutland. Marilyn provided us breakfast each morning (she even took my diet restrictions into account), and gave us great recommendations about things to do in the area. But that being said, I think our favorite parts of the trip were spent right on the property. Nothing beats stargazing on the lawn, and waking up to those mountain views. Marilyn and Michael have such a special place - we truly didn't want to leave!

    Abby2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Marilyn and Michael are world travelers that have amazing life experiences to share. They are very knowledgeable about the local area as well. You could not ask for more hospitable hosts.

    Frank2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Marilyn and her husband were excellent hosts. Not only was the house clean and comfortable, but they went out of their way to provide a breakfast spread and great coffee! Definitely a great place to stay, and look forward to it again!

The Peabody house is cozy farm house on a working sheep farm in Pittsford. We are just north of Rutland and south of historic Brandon, 35 minutes from the Killington ski area and 40 minutes from Middlebury College. Come visit beautiful Vermont.
This space is the original house built in the 1820's by Remembrance Hitchcock. It has two bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen and bath. Original door thumb latches, wide board floors and hand-planed boards are all features of the home. Our adjoining section of the house was added later by Joseph Peabody in the 1850s and became his woolen goods workshop and store. Sheep are still on the property today.
Pittsford is a nice community in between historic Brandon and Rutland. We have a great recreation area with a trail system and a swimming area with a lifeguard during the summer. We have a pass that allows you to use the facility. We are especially known for our 4 covered bridges.
  • We love staying at Jim and Liz’s place! It is always so clean, cozy and has everything we need for our ski weekends. They are fabulous hosts and we look forward to staying with them each year!

  • Wonderful cozy old farm. Very comfortable

    Douglas2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jim & Liz’s Airbnb was wonderful! Their home has so much history and is full of character. We were in Vermont for a wedding at the Mountaintop Inn & Resort and the bnb was a really convenient location for us. We loved the extra touches such as the farm fresh eggs and creamer from the local dairy down the road. Watching the snow fall out the windows as we sipped our coffee each morning was one of my favorite parts. We also REALLY appreciated the pack-n-play and highchair provided for our little guy and the white noise machines in the bedrooms helped him sleep through the night. Thank you Jim & Liz for being such great hosts!

    Maghan2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jim & Liz's place was very charming! Quite comfortable, easy to find, and very clean. Hosts were easy to get in touch with and responded quickly.

    Liat2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place for the three of us to stay for a quick weekend ski trip to Killington. The house is adorable. Yes the stairs to the two bedrooms are more steep and narrow than what are in a modern house but that is part of the charm of being in a home built in the 1800’s. The fresh eggs provided by our hosts were yumm. The WiFi was great for watching movies. The entire house is sparkling clean. The beds are comfortable. The directions to the local grocery and to Killington were accurate and very much appreciated. This was a great way to experience the unique quaintness of Vermont.

    Kimberly2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place! We came up for a ski trip and not only is Jim & Liz’s place perfectly located (we hit Stratton- about an hour, Killington- about a half hour, and Sugarbush- about an hour), but the house is lovely. Plenty of space, a great kitchen for fixing our own meals, and comfortable for relaxing after a day of skiing. And eggs fresh from their own hens- fantastic touch!

    Timothy2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place to stay, quiet and clean. We spent most of our day skiing but it was nice to head back to a comfy space afterwards. The house is much cuter in person than the photos make it out to be!

  • Our stay with April was top-notch. The apartment itself was extremely clean, spacious, and well-furnished with great amenities. It must’ve been recently remodeled because all appliances, utensils, furniture, and rooms were brand new and extremely clean. My friend and I brought groceries so we could make our meals at home during our stay and the kitchen had just about everything we needed to make breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was nice that each individual room had their own AC/heating unit so we could all set our own respective temperatures. We also had a dedicated parking spot right outside the apartment and was never worried that anything would happen to the car. April was an excellent host and made sure we had all the information we needed ahead of time. She responded very quickly when we had questions throughout our stay. Would definitely recommend to others looking to book in the area.

  • We really lucked out by finding this lakefront gem just a week and a half before coming. Elizabeth was a lovely host, and she was quick to respond to all of our needs. Her place was clean, comfortable, and stashed with some good snacks and magazines. We especially loved having access to her boats and docks. Though we had poor cell service in the area, we enjoyed being off the grid for a little time. We would definitely come back!

  • Elizabeth’s place was wonderful! We stayed for a long weekend and enjoyed using the boats, learning about the towns history and eating at busty’s bbq. There’s a lot to do in the surrounding area and this Airbnb is a great deal. Just a heads up, phone service is generally a little shoddy in the area and WiFi goes in and out. • We had a nice stay at Ivo's place and enjoyed talking with him about snowboarding and life in general. His place is pretty cool and cozy, although for some people, I can imagine it being a bit too messy or not 100% clean enough. The bedroom was spic and span, though!

  • Great spot, as advertised, owner very responsive and the driveway/road/parking areas are well plowed in the winter time. We got 3" of snow during the day when we were skiing and they promptly cleared it by the time we were home.

  • Sean's place is great. Really easy to get to, feels like your way out in the boonies but your only a few short miles away from Dunkin, gas and small stores in Castleton. We went for the weekend to ski Kilington. It was an easy drive to the mountain and we stayed away from the craziness of being close to the resort. His place is clean and neat. Lots of paintings and the best is the vinyl record player. Plenty of albums to choose from. Our son and daughter (16 & 20) were so enthralled they dug through his vast collection and played at least 3 of them. Sean was very quick to respond to my emails and was so accommodating that he was willing to allow our daughter to arrive early. The view over the lake is great, even in the winter. We were fortunate enough to view a full moon setting over the mountains from the deck on Sat morning. You don't see that all the time! We would highly recommend Sean's place and would love to come back in the fall - the lake must be beautiful at that time of year. Chris, Melanie, Amanda and Andrew

  • My friends and I used the house while skiing at Killington. The place is the perfect size for 4 that need a small get away. With a beautiful view of a frozen lake, the mornings and evenings were calm. The record collection is also the perfect mood setter, chock full of unknown gems. Sean was also a real great host, quick to respond.

  • Sean was very good at answering any and all crazy questions we had, the cottage was super cute with a great view! We would have no problems staying there again if back in the area

  • I know this street and general location very well because I've been going there for about 8 years. It is spectacular. And, when we ran into issues that were outside of Sean's control he made sure to take care of them as quickly as humanly possible. His kindness and assistance were greatly appreciated. I'm sure we will see him again.

  • Sean’s cabin in Castleton is a spacious yet cozy retreat from the powdery cold slopes of killington . We enjoyed our evenings listening to inner city’s “big fun” on vinyl while sipping the finest craft brew Vermont has to offer . Twas a fantastic getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life for us . Would definitely recommend . Cheers !

  • Very easy to find, FANTASTIC views at nature, very clean place with polite host, and great amenities, (coffee, bagels, yogurt and small pastries.) The room was VERY COMFORTABLE!! We could even adjust the thermostat, if we wanted to!

  • I rarely participate in leaving a review for anything but have to write about this stay at Joe's place. The host, Joe, was super friendly and gave me lots of tips for my trip to the area. The whole place was really clean and quiet. Looking at the sun setting over the colorful mountains with a beer in the backyard was the best. This place was the one I wanted to come back at the end of the day after checkout.

  • I had a very comfortable 3 night stay at this beautifully renovated farmhouse. It's located on a lovely country road. I stayed in the Barn View room - it's a nice size, with a comfortable bed and private bathroom right next door (small shower with so-so water pressure but to be expected in such a rural environment). The shared breakfast room features a nice sized fridge with yogurt and bottled water for guests; a well stocked keurig machine; fresh fruit (apples/bananas), bagels with choice of cream cheese, butter and jelly; and some pastries as well. There are good places nearby for a full breakfast (Sunrise Diner) and I highly recommend Iron Lantern, which is at the end of the road on the right, for dinner. Nice rail trail that starts from the parking lot of Castleton University nearby. Joe made me feel right at home and was available if needed - otherwise, I had plenty of privacy. Enjoy!
