  • Great getaway and loved the isolation of the location. Good place to go to relax and spacious enough for a young family

  • Lyn’s place is a gem. Love the serenity and view. My little girl spotted some wild kangaroos at night and was so excited. Place is clean with all the necessary amenities.

'Number 10' is a rustic, little-bit-retro, stand-alone, private space for two. It adjoins the main house and enjoys ocean and garden views. A short flight of stairs leads to a sunny bedroom and area with fridge and microwave (but not a full kitchen!), and bathroom. There's also a deck for brekky or Happy Hour. Breakfast is included. The Blowhole is 200 metres away for evening penguin viewing, and sunrise/sunset photos. The beach, walking tracks, great restaurants and facilities close by too.
'Number 10' is a modest studio and a rustic space - it has its idiocyncrasies and is not like a modern hotel room. The main cottage was built in the 1950s and 'Number 10' adjoins the cottage and is UPSTAIRS of the old garage (now a storage area). Despite its simplicity, it is conveniently located and in close proximity to the township and offers a great location for penguin viewing at the Blowhole - just a few minutes walk to the end of Douglas Street. The Gulch (harbour) is very close where you can meander along part of the coast walk and then perhaps hop aboard the Glass Bottom Boat, or enjoy fish and chips overlooking Governor's island at either of the two popular fish and chip shops - the Lobster Shack, or at Coastal Seafoods at the Wharf. No. 10 is also very close to beautiful local beaches. And there are views over the ocean where you might spot a Southern Right, a Humpback, or an Orca during different times of the year. For a quiet bush walk there is a leafy bush track behind 'Number 10' which leads up to the Big Rock and down onto the main road. It is great for bird watching and good for orchid spotting in October/November.
Bicheno is a great place to stay as a base for your east coast adventures. It is only 40 minutes away from Freycinet National Park and less to the Douglas Apsley park. Picturesque with beautiful walks and beaches and national parks nearby, Bicheno is also a vibrant village with a choice of cafes, Chinese restaurants and specialist seafood eateries. There is a large IGA for your esentials and also a growing Sunday market. We have penguins and abundant wildlife, and as well as the usual water activities such as swimmimg and surfing, you can enjoy a visit to East Coast Natureworld, the Glass Bottom Boat, Devils in the Dark and the Motorcycle Museum. We also have the Bicheno Farm Shed for wine tasting and, only a short drive away, award winning wineries which offer tastings and a variety of food choices. Special music events happen on a regular basis and the Bicheno Food and Wine Festival is a must in November.
  • We would recommend Lee's place. It's light filled, ocean views and walking distance to town. Lee was a lovely host and cooked us a delicious breakfast. We'd come back.

    Anna2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended. Close to the blowhole and the Gulch with sea views. Outstanding breakfast provided of omelette and muffins etc. delicious. Lee is a wonderful host!

    Pam2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lee is such a lovely warm host and her bnb is such a gem in an excellent location. It's spotless with lovely sea views, lots of home comforts and an awesome cooked breakfast by Lee. We could only stay 1 night this time, but very keen to stay again.

    Jan2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lee is an exceptional host. Very cosy studio and the breakfasts are fantastic. We highly recommend this studio to anyone coming to this area.

    Ollie2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve stayed in Airbnb’s all around the world and Lee’s studio in Bicheno was by far the best experience. Lee is the loveliest host and made us feel right at home, we didn’t want to leave. Her breakfasts are excellent but we would have enjoyed the stay regardless. The studio has everything you need and amazing views over the sea and town (you can see the blowhole from the window). Lots of thoughtful touches too like a kettle, fridge, kitchen items and fully decorated space - it felt homely straight away. Highly recommended to anyone visiting the East Coast!

    Nick & Jess2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lee is a great host, friendly and helpful with local tips. The rustic accomodation is roomy and very comfortable. It is free standing and up a small flight of stairs. It has great views of the bay, and is so close to blowhole and potential fairy penguin sighting. Lee spoilt us with lovely cooked breakfasts using plenty of fresh produce.

    Clare & Peter2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lee was amazing host , super friendly , enjoy walking her dog “Mac “ the corgie , he was beautiful doggie , Bicheno is stunning , beautiful, peaceful, enjoyable........thanks for a wonderful stay

    Kathi2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a cute, cosy find this B&B was. Lee the host is very warm and welcoming and super friendly as is Mac the dog. Although small it had everything we needed and the bonus was great views across the water. It is not a long walk to the shops either. Being close to the penguin area was handy, but even if you miss them the walk just down from Lee's place around the coastal track and rocks and into town is beautiful and easy. The town surprised me, I thought it would be much smaller but there were all the shops, eateries, facilities etc that you need. The bakery produced some pretty good food too!! Bicheno is indeed a beautiful place. Would I recommend Lee's B&B? 100% I would. We'd definitely stay there if we returned.

  • If you’re looking for a little you time and reflection and don’t mind having to go to the toilet outside for a day or two, then this tiny house is for you. Kelly and Michael were very welcoming and respectful hosts as well.

    Olivia2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly’s place was very unique and a beautiful place to stay. The tiny house was situated on their farm property, where it was quiet and had amazing sunset views. The beds were comfy and warm and there were great amenities. The toilet was an interesting and unique experience. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.

  • A cute tiny house in a remote location but not far from St Marys where we indulged in a hearty breakfast. It was a chilly night but the doonas kept us toasty warm! Plenty of hot water. No wombats... maybe next time!

  • Great, unique spot with excellent views, hospitality and hosts. A memorable getaway with everything we needed.

  • The Tiny House was a treat, perched at the end of a road, looking down the length of the Fingal Valley at the surrounding mountains. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • Good food, comfortable room.

    Margita2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • It was just great. The historical ambience, the contact with the host and the population. And with us absolutely calm. No car drove past with the window to the main street open. So who lay awake could perceive the rooster cry.

    Walter2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • This place is as it's described, Its a room in a 110 year old pub! Simple I needed a affordable "room" I got just that, yes the bathroom is down the hall, and it's a room with a sink "that's it" PERFECT ! That's all I need, but what I didn't expect is how good the food from the pubs menu was, "top shelf"! So if you need a room, nothing fancy at a good price this is it! Thanks Bronwyn

    Kenny2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Room was as advertised. Clean, stylish, in a beautiful old pub in the middle of town. Great food.

    Pete2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful hotel pub that serves excellent food, check in was at the bar and very easy. Parking is available on site and check out is as easy as leaving your keys in the hotel room door.

  • Bronwyn and Tony were excellent hosts - they greeted us in person even though we arrived late in the evening and made us feel very welcome. The food at St Mary’s Hotel was also delicious! We would love to come back and stay again.

  • Fantastic and spacious beachhouse with beautiful sunshine filled deck. This place exceeded our expectations and we loved staying here and exploring the surrounding region, including the cute town of Bicheno, Freycinet and Coles Bay. The bed was also super comfy. Definitely recommend!

    Belinda2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sally’s place exceeded our expectations, not that we were expecting anything bad. Amazing value for money, we were just a couple but I think this would be awesome for family or a group of friends as there were plenty of room. The big kitchen was very much appreciated. Lots of nice touches around the house. No wifi but we didn’t really miss it. Only a few minutes drive to Bicheno, nice little town with a decent IGA if you decide to cook. We would highly recommend staying here if you’re already thinking about it!

    April2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect location for a quick get away, I couldn’t have been happier with Sally’s place. Such a beautiful home, large kitchen space and so close to everything. I hope one day to return!

Our uber retro/beachy units are a bad match of old and new, BUT, they are ideal to kick back and relax. Parking at the door, fully self contained (shared laundry). 200m to the beach, great fishing and in between Bay of Fires and Wineglass Bay!
Our studio unit is fully self contained and has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay by the beach - plus - free WIFI. Situated smack bang between the Bay of Fires, St Helens, Bicheno, Wineglass Bay, Freycinet National Park and so many other great places, we are an ideal place to base yourself to explore Tasmania's East Coast. Our units are comfortable but don't expect the Ritz! We keep them meticulously clean, however our budget can't stretch yet to getting us a nice modern facelift, so for now, enjoy the ambience of an unpretentious unit with awesome views! Bedding configuration in our studio unit is 1 x queen bed. But if you need more beds for more people, check our other listings as we also have one and two bedroom units :) This unit does provide full wheelchair access if required including a wheel in shower and toilet. Mobility friendly shower chairs, stools etc are available upon request at no additional charge and railing is installed in the toilet area. Park right at your door and sit outside and soak up the sun.
Scamander is such a great little place to stay in away from the hustle and bustle of St Helens (15 minutes up the road). 100m as the crow flies is the post office with the best coffee this side of St Helens, then across the road are the best fish and chips in Tasmania! Then right next to that is our awesome river and beach. The playground is fantastic for children with plenty to keep them busy for hours. The two bridges in Scamander are always popular for fishing and exercising - and for kids riding their bikes across flat out!! Scamander has it's own IGA supermarket and two petrol stations (no LPG gas though) as well as two restaurants just down the street. Scamander River Golf Course is spectacular and you can enjoy a drink after at the well patronized bar. Scamander is a real seaside town where everyone will give you a wave!

  • A grea place to stay for the night. The unit was extremely spacious and the bed very comfortable!

    Emma2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a terrific find this cottage was. It's very conveniently located (close to the beach) and very well appointed. It would be ideal for a beach holiday. The cottage is comfortable and airy. I had a fabulous night's sleep and was reluctant to get out of bed this morning. The bathroom is spacious and contains very thoughtful touches such as shower chairs and rails to assist with balance. The shower is very roomy and the water is hot and great pressure. Both important when you've had a long drive. I was warmly greeted by Vicki, the caretaker, who couldn't have been more helpful. Although I was there for just one night, it was a relaxing and quiet stay. I would happily book in here again when visiting the east coast.

  • Wonderful stay. The place is fantastic. Falmouth is a beautiful quiet place and a great place to stay for much of the east coast! Pete is great and have lots of valuable suggestions of places to include in my travels .

  • We visited Peter's place for only one night and were blown away with the little cabin. We fell in love with the space the moment we walked in. It is so cozy and welcoming, there are so many interesting collections of books and DVD, even VHS. It was within walking distance to a beautiful quiet beach. I have already told all my friends about this place and cannot wait to return. Peter is also an amazing host, very kind.

    Alex2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfy and relaxing. Quiet location, close to beach walks. Comprehensive facilities inside, nice deck and gardens. Peter was welcoming host. I def recommend this to others.

    Malcolm2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Pete’s place is amazing. The space is large, comfortable, and has everything you might need from a fully equipped kitchen to a washer and dryer. We were traveling up the east coast and Pete told us about some amazing places that we would have never found if it wasn’t for his advice. Would give 6 stars if I could.

    Charles2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great stand-alone wooden house. The landlord is the most intimate we have ever encountered. All the supplies you think of are available. The space is spacious, comfortable and neat. It is definitely recommended!

    Jun-Feng(Bill)2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Welcoming, friendly, comfortable, homely, unique and warm, Peter's little house has a big heart. Make some time to spend looking at the art, books, collectables and games Peter has carefully and sweetly placed in this little paradise. All the amenities are there. Great for a rainy day!!! The beach is a very close walk. Pristine beaches beckon a sunset stroll and birdsong serenades you in the morning. The Milky Way was like a brilliant light show at night. Don't hesitate to stay if this is your kind of hospitality. Thanks Peter. It was unforgettable. We will be back.

    Essey2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a comfortable cosy stay with books, games, films and more to enjoy. Pete supplied a great breakfast for us the next day too. One of the best Airbnbs we’ve ever experienced

Welcome to Studio on Burgess - a stylishly appointed, comfortable one bedroom studio with lounge area, small kitchenette and main bathroom. The studio enjoys its own private deck and garden area to relax as well as off street parking, with separate access from a main house, so you can come and go as you please. Ideally located with many of the towns attractions only minutes walk away including the town centre and its many eateries and shops, Bicheno blow hole and picturesque Rice Pebble Beach.
The studio is well appointed with a queen bed, comfortable sofa and soft furnishings to help you relax during your stay. Take advantage of the kitchenette area which has all the essentials you will need including a microwave, bar fridge, toaster and kettle with tea and coffee provisions including small milk to get you started and a Nespresso machine with some pods. It also has cutlery and crockery if you to make your own breakfast or fix a quick snack during the day. Relax in the light-filled small lounge area with access to a TV or on the outdoor deck, which has table and chairs for you to lap up the sun, reading one of the great selection of books available, or enjoy a cheese platter in the afternoon with a local bottle of wine. The main bathroom, separate from the bedroom living area has a shower over a bath as well as a toilet. We use a professional linen and cleaning service to ensure a comfortable stay with bathroom towels also provided. The studio has a clothes line to hang up your beach towels or wet bathers from a day at one of the many beaches in and around Bicheno.
You are never far away from where you want to be, with many of Bicheno's main attractions all within short strolling distance from the Studio. The town, less than 500m away has many local shops and eateries that will cater to all tastes. Some of our favourites include a morning coffee with delicious choice of fresh pastries cooked daily from Little Bay Patisserie or an award-winning scallop pie from the Blue Edge Bakery, worth a trip on their own. Whalers lookout offers a spectacular panoramic view of Bicheno town and the crystal clear and inviting waters of Waub’s Bay Beach –less than 10 minutes’ walk away. The famous Bicheno blowhole and exclusive and serene Rice Pebble Beach are tantalisingly nearby as is the picturesque gulch where you can watch the boats unload their fresh catch and grab a feed of fresh local seafood at the Lobster Shack.
  • Great place to stay in a beautiful part of the world!!! Mark is very helpful and provided lots of tips on what to do in the area. Would definitely love to come again.

    Joelle2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Mark place was clean, stylish and perfect for a little weekend away! The place had everything you needed and was a short 2 min drive to shops and beach. Was also a quick drive to coles bay and Freycinet national park. Mark left several suggestions for things to do in the area. Lovely home and would definitely stay again! Bed also very comfortable, a win!!

    Paige2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great location 10 minutes to the sea (bicheno blowhole) by foot. Very nice accomodation with everything you need. Located in the garden of a bigger guesthouse. Very quiet and peaceful, we enjoyed our stay.

    Lina2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great little studio. Very comfortable and clean. Big sliding door allows good ventilation. Would stay there again. The host provides plenty of details about Bicheno and responds to emails promptly. The property was very clean.

    Debbie2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Big thanks to Mark for having us. Very happy with our decision to stay at Mark’s place while in Bicheno. Great location, can see the water from the deck of the studio, and a few minutes walk to blowhole. The place was incredibly clean and had everything we could ask for. The bed was also extremely comfortable and easily the best bed we have slept in in an airbnb. Mark’s communication was also amazing and something we very much appreciated. Highly recommend to anyone looking to spend a night or two in Bicheno!

Situated in the heart of Bicheno, air conditioned, private self-contained double accommodation. Just a short stroll from your front door to white sandy beaches, local shops and restaurants. Ideal central location to explore the East Coast, from picture post card beaches, wine tasting at award winning vineyards to the world renowned National Parks Freycinet and Apsley.
Brand new, light and airy, kitchen amenities, king sized bed, tea, coffee sugar and milk provided. Spacious shower.
Small beach-side town with a beautiful natural environment and a welcoming community.
  • Our stay in Bicheno was beautiful. Kate and Mark's place is great and so close to everything. We did a penguin tour and had pizza at the local woodfired pizzaria. Great stay! Five stars.

    Ben2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean, stylish guesthouse with everything you could need for a few days in Tassie!

    Kieks2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was exactly as described. It was very clean and cosy and the bathroom had an extra large shower which was great. The location was in a very quiet neighbourhood and perfect to explore Freycinet NP. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare breakfast or a simple meal, the only thing missing was a small sharp knife. The eggs, bread and milk provided for breakfast were a much appreciated extra. Overall a great stay and we'd definitely book again!

    Anja2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The studio apartment was perfect for our short stay in Bicheno and so close to the penguin tour we had booked that we walked there.

    Geoff2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay in Bicheno and in Kate’s studio apartment. The pictures are accurate. The parking space is convenient, being right in front of the apartment. Very clean, quiet, private and comfortable space. We used the kitchen for breakfasts and sandwiches and had all we needed. She left some breakfast food and chocolates. Which was great. We stayed 2 nights and I wish we would of stayed longer. I think it is a convenient spot to explore the area. The blowhole is nearby and the lichen covered rocks look like the Bay of Fires. One think we did not take into account was that the restaurants close by 7-8pm, so plan accordingly. The bed was harder than I like but my husband thought it was great. The bathroom is very spacious and the shower has good water pressure and plentiful hot water, there is also a heated towel drying rack. Kate was quick and easy to communicate with. We did not have the pleasure of meeting her. I would stay again. Enjoy.

  • This cute little cottage is off the road but close to the beach and St Helens. We enjoyed the quite and both had the best sleep. One night we took a glass of wine and cheese to the beach, no one else was around it was just perfect. Wildlife abounds, we saw black Cockies. • Cosy bush retreat ! Views of trees are panoramic, making the place so private and quiet. Very comfortable bed and great ammenities. Basic kitchenette but electric grill/ hot plate make cooking possible. Croissants for breakfast were yummy, however bring some extra condiments along as these were lacking (e.g. no butter or jam) Loved the crayfish theme extending throughout the whole cottage. Caroline is a great communicator and friendly host. Great place to stay!

But Michael helped me, he is lovely. So if you are using Vodafone like me, talk with him in front of the restaurant, they have free wifi. The house is very clean and tidy got nice view.

Our uber retro/beachy units are a bad match of old and new, BUT, they are ideal to kick back and relax. Parking at the door, fully self contained (shared laundry). 200m to the beach, great fishing and in between Bay of Fires and Wineglass Bay!
Our units are completely self contained and have everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay by the beach. Bedding configuration for this one bedroom holiday unit is queen size bed in the bedroom + one single bed in the living area. Park right at your door and sit outside and soak up the sun. Great ocean views from our property give you ocean bliss and quiet relaxation. Enjoy.
  • Convenient location. On-site caretaker. Quiet and private. Very comfortable bed.

The yard is fully fenced and we enjoy watching our kids explore the outdoors from the comfort of our home. Experience the crystal clear water and various uncrowded surf breaks the region has to offer, right on your doorstep. The reserve has a cricket pitch and is great for kids to have a kick of the footy, ride bikes and enjoy the outdoors. • Beautifully clean and stylish beach house. Highly recommend!

  • The place was beautiful and the fire was so warm on a wet and cold day. Kitchen had all the utensils to cook dinner and the checkin/out was very easy.

  • We enjoyed our two night stay in Scamander as part of a road trip of Tasmania. The property was centrally located and Nic & Alicia really went out of their way to provide as many tips and advice as possible which made the stay perfect. Thanks for the good tip on the fish and chips in St. Helens - it was so fresh and delicious!

    Amy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at Nic and Alicias. The house was a beautiful spot and was perfect for a small group of 4 of us looking for a clean, comfortable spot to base ourselves while exploring Tassie’s east coast. Would definitely stay again!

    Graham2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Cute place in Scamander with a spacious kitchen and living room. The beach is accessible by walking around some water and crossing the bridge. We enjoyed our stay in scamander!

    Sofia2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely space with fabulously comfortable bed. Short walk to the beach and great coffee at Swims. Great kitchen but take the host’s advice and stock up before you get to Scamander if you plan on a night in. Not a lot of dining options in Scamander itself but plenty within a 20 min drive. Grab some fresh seafood and wine from the local wineries and sit on the back deck and enjoy the view.

  • Falmouth reminds one of the film “Babettes Feast”. A beautiful take on coastal life set in Denmark - however Falmouth lies in the heart of the East Coast of Tasmania. Greg is a fantastic host and his property is a charming cottage that sits slightly back from the cliff edges and windswept beach. Inside, the fireplace takes centre stage filling the house with love and warmth making it feel like you’ve lived there your whole life... I won’t forget Falmouth.

    Kira2020-01-21T00:00:00Z

  • This is an absolute gem. Such a laid back vibe in such a lovely spot. You will definitely need a car to explore the many local beauty spots. The house is filled with many interesting artworks and touches. It has everything you need and more. We met Gregory at the start of our stay who told us he was nearby in case of a problem but he left us to our own devices respecting our privacy. We loved the place.

    Philip2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • If you are after a true coastal escape, this is absolutely perfect! It was so great to explore the peaceful surrounds with the help of the expert local tips from the hosts. All the small details to make your stay pleasant are here - extra towels, nice toiletries, nespresso and lots more. Rita was super easy to communicate with and our stay here was a 10/10. • Our stay at Julie and Kellie’s place was fabulous, they were fantastic communicators and had lots of thoughtful touches like wine, chocolate and fresh eggs to make our stay feel really special. Their property feels very private even though the main house is not far away. It’s quite close to the town of Bicheno which had some lovely seafood, great wineries such as Devils Corner and also Freycinet National park. The spa was such a treat each afternoon after along day of bush walks and exploring, we even saw a wombat while in the spa one night! We were only there for 3 nights but wish we had stayed longer, a truely relaxing getaway!

Cottage Accommodation Tasmania Falmouth on the East Coast of Tasmania To stay at the delightful White Shell Cottage is to take a step back in time to a place where your worries were few and life just seems easy. The term cottage is being modest, really it is the size of a holiday home, particularly the recently renovated open plan dining and lounge areas that feature a warm fireplace, high ceilings, timber features and a large cosy couch complete with fluffy cushions and rugs.
Windows are designed to be open to let the sea breeze in or make use of the air conditioning to get that perfect temperature. If you have an eye for good interior design you will appreciate the laid back ‘cosy meets classy’ feel, with a modern kitchen featuring everything you that you have at home; a modern dishwasher, microwave, fridge, stovetop and all the equipment needed to cook a tasty meal for friends and family. Tasmania’s East Coast is renowned for its stunning ocean views and white sand beaches and the views from White Shell Cottage will not disappoint. This property is situated on what would be one of the original prime pieces of land in Falmouth, so gorgeous views of the beach and ocean are particularly impressive from the large lounge room. There are two outdoor areas, the deck and patio at the front of the cottage is a perfect place to relax on a deck chair and view the waves rolling in with a good book or a cheeky glass of sparkling wine at sunset. The private front garden will be a favourite place to rest, play and soak up the ocean and beach views. There is a sheltered BBQ area perfect for a lazy long lunch. The location lends itself to impromptu beach walks on the white sand taking in the rolling waves, blue hues and breathing that East Coast Tasmania fresh air. It is a complete beach side experience, with a safe sheltered lagoon and boat ramp practically on the doorstep. Two of the three historic timber lined bedrooms feature queen beds, with two single beds in the third room. Quality mattresses and linen are used on the beds and the bathroom boasts both a shower and a bath which is perfect for a relaxing soak. Falmouth is a small beach side village, so the best place to stock up with food supplies are Scamander which is 20 minutes north, or for more choice and local restaurants, the larger town St Helens which is 30 minutes north, is a great option. The White Shell Cottage is the relaxing space you have been looking for your next holiday or weekend escape.

Responses to our queries were instant - at one point we lost water (turned out to be a power issue) and someone arrived and fixed it in 10 minutes - really fantastic customer service. Blue wrens in the front yard and beach combing made our visit very special.

Bayview Bicheno is a new 28 sqm self-contained studio with sweeping, uninterrupted ocean, bush and mountain views. It is on a 6-acre block just 4kms from Bicheno - a great base for exploring east-coast attractions. The studio faces due north, so it is warm in winter and cool in summer. It has a private entrance and includes all the things we like when we travel ourselves. We live upstairs and help you settle in: however, we won't intrude on your privacy. Relax and enjoy the sun and the stars.
The studio has expansive views from glass sliding doors, fixed panels and windows. You can even relax in bed and look out directly at the ocean and mountains. There is a 5 sqm north-facing deck, under-cover parking, and a private entrance. The space includes a queen-size bed (with Tempur bed-topper, and good reading lamps); a well-equipped kitchenette (with sink, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, two electric hot plates, electric frypan, electric wok, electric rice cooker); an en-suite bathroom (with shower, toilet, vanity, washing machine, dryer); a reverse-cycle air-conditioner; and a flat-screen TV and DVD player (with a selection of DVDs). Guests who wish to sun-dry clothes/beach towels can use a private clothesline located just outside the studio space. Cooked breakfast is not included, but we do provide some basic breakfast-type items (milk, coffee, tea, muesli, fruit, eggs, butter). Since people have widely-differing tastes in bread, we ask that you bring your own bread. The kitchenette also includes other basic items such as salt, pepper, spices, olive oil, soy sauce etc. Free Wi-fi is available, but please note a maximum usage of 1gig per day applies - due to data limitations on our satellite service. Email and general internet browsing is fine, but we ask guests to minimise data-intensive use (for example, streaming or downloading video).
It is only a 4 km drive to Bicheno, a well-appointed village with supermarket, bakery, butcher, chemist, hardware, local arts and crafts shops, Tasmanian wine shop, Post Office, and various cafes/restaurants. Cooked and fresh fish are available at a couple of waterfront fish shops. If you fancy a walk when you are in town take a leisurely stroll around the stunning foreshore walk and stop for oysters, fish and chips at the Gulch or Lobster Shack. From Bayview it is a pleasant 20 minute walk through native dune vegetation to the local beach - you might encounter one other person on a busy day! If golf is your thing, take a 7-minute walk to Bicheno’s 9 hole golf course, where you are welcome to play a round as a visitor. Apsley National Park – with its many hiking trails and deep swimming hole – is a 7 km drive away. The famous Wineglass Bay is 35 minutes south by car, while Bay of Fires lies an hour to the north. Try some great Tasmanian wines at one of the many wineries (such as Freycinet, Devil’s Corner, Milton) located within a 30-40 minute drive. The lookout near the Devil’s Corner winery has a breath-taking view of Coles Bay and the Hazards Mountains. For a longer outing, you can drive to Triabunna (1hr15mins) and take the ferry to Maria Island. Given the range of attractions available in the area, we suggest potential guests consider a 3-night booking. That allows for 2 full days of local sight-seeing - north and south - and/or relaxing in the studio space itself. On leaving, many of our 2-night guests have said they wished they had booked an extra day.
  • Fantastic location and a very clean place. Laura and Jon both look after you very well.

    Dylan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Of the many Airbnb places my wife and I have stayed, Laura’s ranks among the top. The kitchen and bathroom were so well-stocked, we didn’t need to ask for anything. The location is convenient to Bicheno and Aspley National Park. It was very quiet and peaceful - we enjoyed sitting on the porch and taking in the view of the sea and the tree canopy, along with the many birds that flew by. We even had a wallaby visit us! Laura and Jon are great hosts. If we are ever in the Bicheno area again, we will definitely stay at their place.

Lovely thoughtful touches of home baked sweets, prepared breakfasts in the fridge, very knowledgeable of the local region and happy to recommend places to go and things to see (she is very supportive of and loves her local community). I would highly recommend staying in May’s Airbnb!

Great ocean views, self contained, private, separate entry, nicely furnished, great bathroom. Modern almost new. Fridge, microwave, feather doonas, use of kitchen if required. Central to parks and wineries Penguins come up at night, seals on the rocks out front..
The surf sounds as the waves crash over the island, sea birds sounds never stop, the noisy penguins at night. Just some the atmosphere at the White House.
  • Absolutely perfect place to stay. View from your bed is spectacular. Great location if you are visiting Freycinet or just checking out the town of Bicheno. Make sure you check out the blowhole just down the street from Andrew and Hong’s place.

We have two holiday cabins on our five acre property just north of Bicheno, a great place to base yourself to see the sites of the east coast of Tasmania. With amazing ocean and big sky views we decided to name the cabins Sea and Sky. Wake to spectacular sunrises, sit back and relax surrounded by nature.
Sky cabin is one bedroom with queen size bed, en suite bathroom with shower over spa bath. Living, dining and kitchen are all in one. Views from windows, deck and courtyard areas. Breakfast is not provided but teas, plunger coffee and biscuit snacks are left in cabin. It has a well equipped mini kitchen so you can BYO food or can recommend local restaurants or cafes for breakfasts and evening meals in Bicheno.
We are 4 kms north of Bicheno, an easy drive to pick up supplies or eat out at one of the restaurants. For locally caught seafood try fish and chips at the Gulch. While in town take a look at Waub's Bay fine art gallery and do the foreshore walk. Rosedale Road is the access road to Douglas Apsley National Park where you can swim in the Apsley waterhole and do a 90 minute walk to the Apsley Gorge. Freycinet National Park is 35 minutes drive south, Bay of Fires an hour north. While out visit one of the many local wineries to pick up a bottle of wine to enjoy on the cabin deck. The Bicheno golf course is across the road and the wildlife park a few kilometres north. In the evening you can hook up with the Fairy Penguin or Devils in the Dark Tours from Bicheno.
  • Our second stay at Kym’s place and every bit as good as our first. This trip we were travelling with a relative. Kym’s place was perfect as the second cabin allowed for privacy for our travel guest, yet we were able to enjoys meals and time together in the various outdoor areas, soaking up the incredible views. Be sure to wake early for amazing sunrises.

  • A fantastic place to stay if you want home comforts, peace and quiet and a magnificent view.

    Gai2019-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Nice space with a killer view

    Geoff2019-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect place to stay for 2 couples. Just loved the cabins with all mod cons, and the wonderful view. Would highly recommend.

    Denise2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed four nights in "Sea" cabin and it was the perfect way to finish our three week honeymoon in Tasmania. The cabin is the perfect size for a couple and the views of the forest cascading down to the ocean seem to go on forever. There is no wifi and only one or two bars of mobile service from the deck (if you stand in just the right spot) so it's perfect to escape the stress of the world for a few days. If you really need internet just drive back down the hill and you're back in full phone zone. But if you're anything like us you'll be much happier cozying up on the couch with a bottle of local wine, enjoying the spa bath or breakfast in bed with ocean views. Bliss!

    Jahmin2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. Even though the sun didn't follow us from Hobart, we still enjoyed the views and all the birds flitting about. Highly recommended. We stayed in the Sky cabin.

    Michelle2017-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great little get away, Limited phone reception made it a perfect break from the city

    Bén2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place!! A cosy, well equipped cabin and a great location to explore Bicheno and its surrounds. Kym made it really easy to find; was welcoming on arrival and the finishing touches included a bowl of beautiful home grown tomatoes! It may be a few km out of town but totally worth it - peaceful, stunning views as far as the eye can see and only the sound of waves and birds to wake you in the morning. Recommend asking for the Sky Cabin if you can. Thanks so much Kym - will definitely recommend to family & friends and hope to return for another visit one day.

In winter, there is a beautiful stillness, with the delicious bonus of the generous sun that shines to make the days feel warm. Every season is beautiful, and are equal in their magic, we love them all! Groceries and Supplies There are no shops in Falmouth so please stock up on all your food before you arrive. • The Whale Song Shack was incredible. So much thought put into every design detail, not to mention a perfectly private and peaceful location. We loved watching sunrises over the sea, utilizing the outdoor shower/tub, and preparing our local seafood in the well-appointed kitchen. Our only regret is not staying for longer!! Would love to return here some day.

  • Incredible. Homely. Comfortable. One of the best places we have ever stayed. We will be back Whale Song - next time for longer!!

    Samantha2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute wonder... stay here with family and friends and let the world slip away as you become enraptured by your natural surroundings. Ingrid is a wonderful and genuine host. Can’t wait to come back again someday.

    Vaia2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Whale Song was incredible, without doubt the best Airbnb I’ve over stayed in, location was amazing, the house was set up perfectly and Ingrid was great to deal with and got back to us straight away with any questions we had. Highly recommend staying at Ingrid and Cliftons place.

    Mark2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We could just gush about this place! The location is truly beautiful and we never got tired of looking at the view. Although there are some houses around you'll never see anyone as the position of the house and garden mean you get privacy. Listening to waves at night and smelling the sea was incredibly restorative. The house has been so beautifully decorated, it is warm and inviting and has everything you'll need. We found ourselves playing board and cards games instead of watching TV and had lots of quiet moments just contemplating the ocean view. There are coffee table books, novels and magazines to peruse, the kitchen has every cooking and serving item you'll need. As well as tea and coffee you'll find herbal tea, drinking chocolate and marshmallows. The downstairs lounge is so incredibly beautiful and has every sized cushion and throw you'll need to make yourself comfortable. The beach has lots of shells to fossick through, as well as rock pools and a quiet path to follow along the coastline. We did a shop before we arrived in Falmouth and then did a top-up shop in St Helen's at the Bay of Fires IGA. Swims in Scamander has great coffee too. The local area is great for surfing as well, with the right conditions Falmouth and Four Mile Creek being two favourites.

  • Where do I begin? This 1980’s ‘shack’ has been lovingly restored. From sitting outside around the fire pot wine in hand, the beautiful feeling soaking in the deck bath outside in the amazing environment to laying in bed listening to the ocean or lying in front of the down stairs fire place reading your favourite book whilst watching it all through the amazing big window! Absolutely beautiful relaxing time here. Just loved it! Thankyou Ingrid and Cliff!

  • What a magical spot and stylish accomodation. Stayed in a few Air BNB’s over the years but Whale Song shack is super special and unique. We’ll be back for sure...and to stay longer. Love our evening around the firepit with the ocean breeze.

    Felicity2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend staying here for a peaceful and rejuvenating weekend away. The beautiful styling and proximity to the ocean, not to mention that incredible deck bath, were outstanding! The shack is well equiped with everything you need. Would love to come back!

  • Fantastic spot with direct access to the most wonderful private beach. We swam, walked and picnicked on the beach. The bungalow was good and comfortable. Lovely home made bread. Small kitchen but with the microwave and BBQ we cooked up a feast. Highly recommend.

  • Beautiful setting just metres from the beach. Charming dunes garden with barbecue. Binny was delightful and left us home made bread, fruit milk honey marmalade etc.

    Simon2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place that is clean, quiet, and comfortable. The cottage is in a wonderful location just behind the dunes so it is warmer and sunnier yet in less than a minute you are on miles of amazing beach. We walked for 30 minutes north each of our 3 days and had the beach to ourselves the entire time! Going south we encountered less than 3-4 people each time! Loved taking our morning coffee a few steps up to the “lookout” on the property each morning. Just minutes from East Coast Natureworld which we enjoyed and 10 minutes to the pleasant town of Bicheno. Binny is a wonderful host, loved the fresh baked bread, breakfast hamper, and all of the lovely artistic touches throughout the place. Should have stayed longer.
