The house is spacious, very close to the town (just 6 minutes walk to Woolworth), well-equipped (food for breakfast, shampoo, shower gel, toilet paper etc.) Rob and Tania are so friendly and helpful, their beautiful daughters are so nice too. One more thing is they have two super adorable dogs!!!! Highly recommend.

  • Nice tidy place lovely hosts very helpful

    Meg2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay. We actually wished we had been staying longer since it was so clean and nice. It can be a bit difficult to get to but Robert and Tania give great directions and are easy to get in touch with if you need anything. Robert even stayed on the phone with me until I was in the house. Inside the house is clean and has lovely decor. They also have a coffe/espresso machine which we took full advantage of. They also have a book of things to do in the area. We recommend checking out Paronella Park. If you are in the area you should definitely consider staying at Robert and Tania's place!

  • Wow, what an amazing place! My jaw dropped when I walked in, lovely! it was a big space for just me, but I'm not complaining :-D Stylishly set up, clean as a whistle, gorgeous shimmering view of the water from lounge windows, everything you could want ! The only thing worth a mention was I didn't feel comfy using the lovely outdoor back area, as one of the dogs was up against the sliding glass door barking and barking at me and their guidebook mentions one of them can bite. They were not interactive owners and left you to enjoy the beautiful space, highly recommend for a stay in Innisfail!

  • Helen and her husband were awesome; very helpful, we saw 3 cassowary because of them! The places is just as shown, cozy, and decorated with some very interesting artifacts. They were great hosts!

    Chautelle2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure to stay at Helen’s place. It’s spacious, clean, and has everything you need. Helen and James are great hosts and their local knowledge and tips for where to go were really helpful. We recommend this place.

    Urs2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Helen’s place is great. Very central, only a 25 minute walk to Innisfail town centre. We had complete privacy and felt very welcome. We had access to the laundry and our own bathroom. Helen and James are a wealth of local knowledge and full of tips on where to visit and how to get there.

    Zoe2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Good location. Lovely clean space. Really liked the open plan layout, and little chocolates left for us - very thoughtful touch.

    Emma2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Another great stay at Helens..

    Janice2019-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks to James’ local tips, we saw five Wallabies and a Cassowary in one morning! I really appreciated this as I hadn’t seen much wildlife in Australia until this point. As regards the listing - accurately described and spotlessly clean studio space underneath Helen and James’ house. You must have a car to stay here. Also, listen to the GPS instructions that Helen kindly provides, as Apple Maps navigates incorrectly towards the end (which isn’t anybody’s fault). We met one of their pups which was lovely, 12 months old! I should quickly add that there isn’t any Wifi for those that expect it.

The Winston is a beautiful old church in the retro town of Innisfail which we have been renovating for about a year. It’s about a 15 minute walk into town. The area has many attractions close by Paronella Park, Etty Bay where you will see cassowaries walking along the beach, Babinda Boulders, Josephine falls, the Mamu canopy walk, white water rafting in Tully and Mission beach just to name a few
The Winston is an old church on a hill With 2 newly renovated rooms with en-suites And a loft room perfect for older children capable with stairs
Etty bay is close by about 10 min drive where you can see cassowaries just wondering down the beach. Mission beach is about an 1/2 hour drive where are some great restaurants and cafes if you’re keen you can also sky dive, or just relax on the beautiful beach. What to do in Innisfail the Queens hotel for dinner or lunch or just coffee. Lawn bowls is just a short walk away for some barefoot bowls, also a great golf course and at a affordable price. Innisfail is a great base to go off and explore the beautiful swimming holes of Josephine Falls, Babinda Boulders. Babinda has a great bakery and just next door a fantastic opportunity shop. The Palmerston highway leads you up to the Atherton tablelands with many things to see and do.
  • A nicely renovated church which is very clean and comfortable. A range of religions are represented in the decor, which conservative people may find a little confronting. Excellent communication made everything easy!

  • Awesome !!! We had two wonderful days! Unforgettable ! Thank you for everything !

    Amandine2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. This is a truly heavenly venue... The thoughtful interior, the sparkling cleanliness, the as new comfy beds, just so beautifully restored and artistically rejuvenated. Hosts are lovely. But all you'd need there plus more (minus air con but we just landed it in the hotest days of the year I think). Copious space. All others who saw it loved it too. Highly recommend!

    Jacqueline2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this renovated church. It was full of quirky artwork and nic nacs. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and comfortable. Also had a large living area, dining area and kitchen space. The table and chairs were lovely to sit at I the morning. Was a good base for one night to see Paronella Park and Innisfail. Saw lots of Cassowaries, Art Deco buildings and a lovely church before we had to move on.

    Sue2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • A unique place to stay, very comfortable, clean and artistic. If you like being surrounded by religious art, especially of a Catholic style, mixed with some buddhas and hindu deities, this is the place to stay. Huge ensuite for each bedroom, and loads of space to relax.

    Moira2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, renovated church. The rooms and bathroom are so lovely, everything was very clean and we had lots of space. Bexley is a very friendly host who will do everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible!

    Inez2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Expect a fun space, lots of room, and some quirky yet still modern decor! I only stayed one night but actually hope I might come back and stay there next time to enjoy the space more!

    Jae2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Really great place to stay, it’s quirky and very large space. No aircon but apart from that it’s a great place to stay and we will definitely be back.

Budget accommodation in my downstairs unit. Sleeping on a pull-out sofa bed in my kitchen / lounge. I have my private bedroom. But we are sharing my kitchen/lounge (where the sofa bed is too), bathroom and indoor/outdoor living area and the garden. Also our shared accommodation is downstairs of a permanent upstairs rented unit. Everyone has their privacy but you need to be mindful and respectful of that fact.
My little unit is situated downstairs of an old Queenslander. I live in this downstairs unit. Upstairs unit is occupied all year. So it goes without saying that you need to be respectful of each other space and as much as possible keep the noise to a minimum late at night.
I am 10 minutes drive from Innisfail, next door to a bakery and a fish and chips shop, 2 minutes walk to a servo/convenience shop and a pub. We are on the old canecutter way about 15 min drive to Paronella Park.
  • Valerie is a good host pleasant to chat with would stay there again.

  • Exceeded our expectations. Gail was friendly and welcoming and I was very impressed with the well looked after vintage character of the place. We ended up getting a very private room with our own bathroom. The room was spacious and there was a fridge and TV, the bed was comfortable and warm. We spent a few hours that night chatting to the lovely Glenn (the head chef) on the top closed in balcony over a few drinks. Our accommodation came with breakfast, but we were a little seedy to eat anything. Really pleasant bars and there is ample car parking. Will definitely return.

A touch of shabby chic, this rustic Queenslander gives you a taste of the past with the comfort of a home. Just off the Bruce Highway its only a short walk to the Innisfail CBD & a meander along the river. Relax under the mango tree or if you're interested in cooking the garden abounds with ginger, galangal, chilli & other tropical delights. There is a simple well equipped kitchen & you can purchase fresh fruit & veg from a nearby street stall. Pets are welcome but the property is not fenced.

  • Great place to stay and the hosts are great. Would recommend a stay at Ian and Cheryl's place.

    Neil2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ian & Cheryl’s place is off the beaten track, among can fields and close to a tidal river full of and surrounded by native birds, fish and the odd reptile. The place is well equipped and central to highlights from Paronella south of Innesfail to Babinda and Bartle Frere to the north. We chose to stay here for the quiet location and were well rewarded with two delightful, interesting and well-travelled people offering all that we needed for our stay.

    Richard2019-06-21T00:00:00Z

  • Excellent home base for a two man work crew. Entire ground floor with plenty of space. Not luxurious but it has everything you could ever possibly need. • Yvonne's place is really beautiful house full of art and atmosphere. The directions were good, easy to find. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bathroom was luxurious with a bathtub and two sinks. We were only two people but the house could easily host five people so it's really good value as well. The beach is only a five minute drive away and has a net. The place is very quiet, so only thing we heard at night were birds :-) I can only highly recommend it!

Unpack. Kick Back Relax. Comfortable room with air conditioning. You can hear the ocean at night and the birds welcoming the day The beach is a 3 minute walk. Hand rails at all entry access point and only 5 steps.
3 Minute walk to beach, which at certain times you will experience being alone in paradise . My location is Close to many waterfalls that are unique to this area. Enjoy peace and quite that this place offers.
It’s a quite beach community. A relaxing atmosphere. There is a boat ramp, bbq in Paperback Park. A small caravan park on the beach. I love the small quite privateness of beach here. It’s a great place to hear your thoughts.
  • Although I only stayed one night I loved the place and the location. The room was great. It's a secluded place that lets you wind down on a lovely beach and on a lovely porch from which you can see weird birds pass by and quarrel. Around the corner there's wildlife waiting for you to spot it. Sharon is a very hospitable and friendly lady who cares for her guests. Although our points of view diverge greatly on quite a number of topics, we had a good time together. I would definitely recommend Sharon's place to anyone who likes a bit of adventure and wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cairns.

  • I stayed at Kerry’s house as part of a work trip with my 88 year old dad along for the ride. It was a great alternative to a hotel and well suited to an older person who needed things to be easily accessible. The property was clean, bright and spacious. Beds were very comfortable. TV, Wifi, Sound System, Netflix everything to keep you entertained The breakfast provisions provided were generous, with lots of lovely fresh local fruit and a cupboard stocked with all the essentials. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to prepare a meal and we cooked each night. It was close to town but far enough away so that at the end of a long day you could enjoy the peace and quiet. Across the road was a lovely walk along the river for those who like to get out and about. Beautiful Etty Bay and Mourilyan Harbour were a short drive away and well worth the trip to see the Cassowary’s. We were there in February when it is quite hot and the air conditioning and extra fans kept us cool at all times. Kerry really puts in the extra effort to make sure you feel welcome, comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. It was great value for money and we would definitely stay at Kerry’s property again when visiting the area.

  • Stayed at KERRY and PETER's home for two nights, leaving very good memories. The house was very spacious, clean and well-equipped. They also prepared picture books and toys. There was a lot of food in the refrigerator. We couldn't bear to leave. PETER is the CEO of a medical center. He did n’t see us for the first two days because of work. The morning before we left, he came to say hello to us and took us to the second floor to visit their house and his workshop in the garden. . Very friendly and loving couple, 100% recommended for everyone!

  • We were very impressed by the consistently high level of wonderful reviews, and that’s exactly what we received with our stay. Lovely space, very generous hosts, we really did feel at home and very comfortable with how clean and well thought out everything was. A credit to Kerry & Peter. Would highly recommend and will undoubtedly return.

  • The Sugar Shack is a beautiful, restful place to stay. My family appreciated the very tasteful and comfortable furnishings. I loved the back garden with the huge trees and the view to the ocean. We walked on the beach and admired the landscape several times a day. Having our family dogs with us was the icing on the cake. Thank you very much. Fabulous!

    Fiona2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • The location was perfect. We met up with a Great Barrier Reef tour, checked out Babinda Boulders, Josephine falls, and a lot of other beautiful places. • We would strongly recommend staying at Sylvia's place. We went to Etty Bay to see cassowaries and we were not disappointed. We saw them at the beach at Etty Bay every afternoon for 3 days. Sylvia was an excellent host and it was really nice having her so close by. She had put some beautiful finishing touches on the house - fresh flowers and excellent breakfast supplies including lots of fruit fruit and even chocolates! The house was immaculately clean. The gardens were very pretty and our toddler loved seeing the horses and cows come to visit the paddock next door. Thank you to Sylvia for a fantastic time.

  • Sylvia is a great host and her retreat is exactly as represented . We will visit again .

    Scott2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house is located on a lawn of more than 4,600 square meters and the air is very good and very quiet. The landlord Sylvia is a very enthusiastic person, cleaning the house spotlessly, toiletries, slippers, bedding, quality, and comfort. A large variety of welcome fruits, juice and milk jam in the fridge, and bread on the kitchen counter made us very moved. And also enthusiastically introduce us to the surrounding attractions. One more thing, I am very grateful to Ms. Sylvia. The phone card I bought has a problem. She eagerly called me and wrote a letter to the post office where I bought the card. She is very nice. We are very happy at her home. Thank you, Ms. Sylvia, and wish you good health.

  • What a delightful surprise. This lovely place was all and more we could have hoped for. Sylvia is the consummate host. Our week was full of enjoying the local birds and wildlife. The garden surrounding the house had an abundance of birdlife and we spent many happy hours just soaking it in. The accommodation was comfortable, spotlessly clean and provided all we needed. We would happily return to this great place.

  • This house is amazing with a spectacular view. Monica was very helpful and prompt with the replies. Very clean, the BBq was great with a pool to relax in. Even a safe area for kids to play at the bottom of back balcony. Would definitely stay again. Mars

  • Fantastic house in a perfect setting, very clean & comfortable.

  • We had such a relaxing time staying here with our family. The house is spacious and modern, and the upstairs bedroom has the most amazing views! The gardens are beautiful too, and the pool a refreshing splash to cool down. Couldn’t be happier - already looking forward to coming back :)

  • We had a wonderful time as a family. Monica gave us info about the area and allowed us to prepare our time away. With only a small corner store food shopping and planning is essential for a hassle free family holiday. We were advise prior to our holiday so had time to plan and prepare. The surroundings are gorgeous and the pool allows you to enjoy the tropics without the worry of crocs or stingers. It’s close to cairns but far enough away to clock off and relax!

    Sarah2019-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning home in an amazing location. Very highly recommended!

    Libby2018-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Absolute bliss! Monica's place is even better in real life, than on the pages of AirBnb. A mere hop, skip & jump to the beach, and if the warm waters of the Coral Sea are too much for you, then a refreshing dip in the pool is just what the doctor ordered. The smells & sounds of the tropics are all here, be it the soothing sounds of the sea lulling you to sleep at night, or the tropical birds chirping & cawing. This modern house, has all the mod cons required for a relaxing care free break, and only an hour South of Cairns. Some small touches that would have made it perfect, would be some basic food staples i.e: olive oil, tomato sauce, jam, vegemite, milk, & more tea. Also, being environmentally minded, we were a little surprised there wasn't a glass/paper recycling bin. All-in-all though, these are very minor items, which in no way distracted from what is a great getaway destination - we'll definitely be back!

    Matt2016-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • The house is really nice and confortable, and it is like it looks in the pictures. We add a great time in the house, and the host was always very nice, helpful and respond to the mails with all the question. We do recommend to stay in the house.

Four Winds Garden Retreat is a quiet a peaceful place situation in Far North Queensland tropical rain forests. Beautiful gardens and lots of wildlife and if you're lucky you may meet our local Cassowary! Situated 5 km from Bramston Beach, 11 km from Mirriwinni, 30 km from Innisfail and Babinda and approx 80 km south of Cairns. The location is quiet and peaceful with lots of bird life and easy access to many tourist attractions in the area, such as Josephine Falls, Babinda Boulders etc.
This is the 2nd Room available at Four Winds Garden Retreat. It has a double bed and access to a share bathroom, which has a spa if desired. Large veranda outside room, with forest views.
There are many unique spots nearby, BRAMSTON BEACH is 5 km away. The main part of the beach, adjacent to the camping area, has a rock groyne that has trapped the sand to build a wide, steep beach to the south, with a low, flat, eroding beach to the north. Toward Rocky Point, wider tidal flats replace the bar. The small Joyce Creek flows out against the point, with a breakwater partly protecting the creek, so as to allow small boats to reach the boat ramp inside the creek mouth. Swimming: A relatively safe beach with best swimming at mid to high tide, when the bar and tidal flats are covered. The patrolled area is immediately in front of the camping area and a stinger net is operated during the summer. Not far are places like EUBENANGEE WETLANDS The Eubenangee Swamp National Park is one of the most important wetland areas between Cooktown and Ingham. It contains a number of rare plant species and plays an important role in the conservation of the region’s wildlife, in particular birds. The swamp is one of the best bird watching spots in far north Queensland, but you will almost always spot butterflies, turtles and crocodiles as well. Turn off at Mirriwinni on to the Bramston Beach Road, and travel about 9 kilometers to the sign-posted turnoff. A 1 kilometre walking track allows visitors to explore Eubenangee’s fascinating wetlands and an outstanding view of Mt Bartle Frere. There are no facilities except for the walking track, and camping is not permitted. Admittance is free. BABINDA BOULDERS On a hot day,a dip in the infamous Babinda Boulders would certainly be refreshing. The pristine water that fills up the creek comes from Queensland’s highest mountain, Mount Bartle Frere. Besides that it is bounded by the wonderful shades of green coming from the thriving rainforest, visitors are said to enjoy this destination because the water remains cold even during the middle of the summer season. This is what makes Babinda Boulders ideal for battling the afternoon heat. The Babinda Boulders is also deemed as a spiritual place by the Aboriginal people. At the same time, the Cairns City Council has named it a sanctuary for various flora and fauna species. These are the two main considerations why visitors should be more wary while they are on this nature park’s premises. And of course, for the more obvious safety reasons since several accidents have occurred here before, particularly near the vicinity of the infamous Devil’s Pool. Visitors are expected to follow and respect the warning signs that are placed in certain areas that are steep and slippery. Among the several swimming holes, the Devil’s Pool Walk is the most talked about. As its name implies, getting there is not an easy task but with the proper attitude and discipline, it is certainly manageable. It can be reached through the lower region of the picnic area and from there you will be guided to a walk path that is located by the side of the Babinda Creek. The trail is approximately 1.3 kilometres in distance and challenging to some extent. The rocky pathway will show the way to the thick and blossoming rainforest that this place regularly boasts about. Two observation platforms can be found at the end of the trail. From there visitors can view the whole part of the creek and on one specific spot, the precarious Devil’s Pool Aside from swimming, picnicking is also a common visitor activity. Designated picnic areas can be found in several places within the nature park. Cooking is allowed as barbecue grills are equipped near the picnic areas. Visitors can enjoy the afternoon by just lounging around while admiring the beauty of the crystal clear water trying to make its way through the considerably huge boulders. Babinda Boulders is a suitable place to unwind as the experience can prove to be quite therapeutic. JOSEPHINE FALLS, Traditional country of the Ngadjon-Jii Travel south from Cairns to Mirriwinni (68km). Two kilometres past Mirriwinni, turn right into the signposted road to Josephine Falls. The car park is a further 8km along this road. From the car park follow a signposted 600m walk to the clean, clear waters of Josephine Creek that tumble off the slopes of Mt Bartle Frere. Platforms allow safe views of the falls. Wheelchair access is available to the viewing platform at the top pool and stairs lead down to the bottom pool. The water is surprisingly cold, and this has produced an unusually cool microclimate. You will be able to observe the Atherton Palm as well as the moisture-loving potato fern. No dogs are allowed in this National Park, and camping at the falls is prohibited. Caution and common sense are required during our wet season. There is the potential for flash flooding to occur, as well as sudden increases in water levels. Nevertheless, when the temperatures and the humidity are high, the falls are refreshingly cool and beautiful, and an excellent spot for a picnic. Don’t miss it! Josephine Falls is also the start point for the Bartle Frere hiking Track and the Broken Nose hiking track. GOLDEN HOLE, Golden Hole (Biggs Recreation Reserve) is located on the Russell River, 1.5 km from the Josephine Falls turnoff. It is located at the foot of Mt Bartle Frere, and has great views of Queensland’s tallest mountain. This recreation area has a large open grassed area with a covered picnic table. A toilet block is located nearby. The river is close by and is a popular fishing spot. Swimming and canoeing are also popular, but there is a crocodile warning sign posted. MOUNT BARTLE FRERE With an altitude of 1622 metres, Mount Bartle Frere is acknowledged as Queensland’s highest mountain. Various types of rainforest surround the whole of the hiking trail making it a shelter for the wildlife species. Adventurous backpackers are usually attracted to this hiking site not only because of the challenging trail but more importantly the view that you get to perceive once you reach the summit. The Aborigines call it Chooreechillum, but its common name was derived from the surname of the former British colonial bureaucrat, Sir Henry Bartle Frere, who was also Cape Colony’s acting British Governor when the Zulu Wars commenced. From there, it can be said that this mountain is associated with a somewhat important part of history making it more meaningful to climb. Situated within the Wooroonooran National Park, Mount Bartle Frere can be accessed through the hiking trail that starts in the car park of the Josephine Falls, which another common destination among visitors. From the parking area, it would take about 10-12 hours of walking (or roughly 15km in distance) to reach the mountain’s peak. Climbing this mountain is not just demanding because of the steep rocks and unstable weather conditions but more importantly, the orange markers that are placed to guide the hikers are rather tricky to recognize. First time hikers are usually prone to pursuing the wrong footpath and a number of visitors have actually went off course even during the earliest part of the trail. But even so, with the proper amount of prepping and cautiousness, hiking up Mount Bartle Frere could be one worthwhile experience especially when you get the opportunity to observe the coastal lowlands and the Atherton Tablelands from above. Camping on the mountain premises is allowable once you secure a permit from rangers. It is recommended to ascend during the colder season like winter since there is a small chance of rain during this time Another way to climb up this historic mountain is through the west side of the mountain, where a small camping site is positioned. With already an elevation of 700 m, hikers can accomplish the climb with less difficulty within the day. Bushwalking clubs regularly take advantage of this option during the months of June to October, when the weather condition is dry and cold. You can get to the starting point of this trail by driving through the Topaz and Gourka Roads.

A tranquil, child friendly retreat with absolute Coral Sea frontage & panoramic views. This ground floor apartment is a quality re-development of the 1970's Old Pottery and has plenty of character + chef's kitchen A short walk to the beaches. The Old Pottery occupies the whole of the self-contained lower level of the house. Owner's accommodation upstairs may be available as an add-on extra by special arrangement. To see the placemark on a map, search for "C3VQ+9W Mourilyan"
This property has been family owned since the 1950's when the Etty Bay road was unsealed and the Surf Life Saving Club was a tin shed. The present house was very solidly built in concrete by an Austrian builder in the 1970's with a compact residence upstairs and a comprehensive working craft pottery downstairs. The house is about 15 metres above sea level and is close enough to the water to hear the ocean waves and sometimes see dolphins and turtles. More recently, the Old Pottery was sensitively refurbished as independent accommodation to a high standard. Historical photos, some more detailed history, and a selection of Jean Markwell's pots are on display in the dining area. The Old Pottery kitchen is very well equipped, and general comfort and other facilities are suitable for medium term visits by family members or guests. There is exclusive use of the double carport which has headroom for loaded roof racks. Car parking spaces and upstairs/downstairs apartment entrances are independent. There is space for parking a trailer boat up to 6.5 metres in length in front of the boat shed where there is also a hose point. There is an outdoor shower adjacent to the carport. Airbnb rentals are on the basis of the Old Pottery apartment at the indicated tariff. On occasion, family members may be staying in the upstairs residence but more often than not, guests are on their own. If any family are staying, we will let you know in advance. It would be nice to meet up. It may be possible to rent the entire house by special arrangement. The residence upstairs is only partially refurbished and still has some original 1970's 'features'. We do not rent to more than one party/group at-a-time. Please note that Etty Bay has been declared a glass and dog free zone by the local council. Cassowaries roam the area and one visits the house on most days. Other local wildlife includes, frogs, goanna, wallaby, skinks, numerous butterflies, birds, and insects, gekkos, ecidna etc. Nightlife includes micro bats, Curloos, moths (Atlas Moth sometimes), and small tropical rainforest mammals such as Bandicoots... The attractive Etty Bay main beach is well sheltered compared to the average Queensland beach, and boasts shady trees right up to the high water mark. A stinger net enclosure for safe swimming is set up on a seasonal basis. Etty Bay is a popular weekend outing for locals.
Cassowaries and the pristine beach are the major attractions. The van park is popular and many locals head to Etty Bay during weekends and school holidays. There are many pleasant day trip options from Etty Bay. Mission Beach is a 40 minute drive, the Atherton Tableland and Cairns are about an hour away.

  • Had an absolutely great stay at the old pottery, John and Susan were very good hosts that responded very quickly and informatively to any questions we had. They know the area so well and told us everything we needed to know. The wildlife is beautiful and the view is amazing, I would defiantly recommend this stay to anyone. Thank you so much for welcoming us into your home.

  • An Amazing house with an even better view, would defiantly recommend this to anyone whether it be a family holiday or for a business trip. A short walk to the beach and kiosk with lots of wildlife. John and Susan are excellent hosts and responded very quickly with any questions and are very informative about the Ettybay area.

  • Our family (2 adults and 3 kids aged 11, 5 and 2) absolutely loved staying at the Old Pottery at Etty Bay during our holidays in Australia! John and Deborah were the perfect hosts. They responded very quickly to our e-mails and provided lots of really useful information. The guideline documents they've put together explained perfectly where to find things in the house and how to use the appliances - really helpful! They even provided us with some provisions for our first night so we didn't have to go shopping straight away, which was really thoughtful - thank you! Both John and Deborah are very knowledgeable about the local area and could suggest many things to see and do outside Etty Bay. The house is very privately located at the edge of a large rainforest reserve with spectacular views over the Coral Sea and access to an idyllic "private" beach only a short walk from the house. We really enjoyed the serenity and the amazing wildlife, including a number of cassowaries, a goana, beautiful butterflies, geckos, frogs and sea turtles. Etty Bay also makes a great base for exploring the many amazing sights in Far North Queensland. Although we loved the amazing "private" beach so much that we spent most of our time there swimming, fishing and playing with the kids. The Old Pottery itself was extremely clean and very nicely decorated, with plenty of linen and towels for our two-week stay. The kitchen is very well equipped with almost everything you could think of - we really enjoyed using appliances we don`t even have at home! We also appreciated all the extras that you don´t usually get in a holiday house, such as baking accessories, pancake pan, sandwich bags, mixer, sandwich toaster, eski, insect coils, etc. It's the kind of place you feel instantly at home in. The Old Pottery was exactly what we were looking for: a clean, comfortable, spacious and well-equipped holiday house located well away from any neighbours and close to nature and the sea. All in all, it's best place we have ever stayed! We will definitely be back again!

At the beating heart of tropical north Queensland, on the banks of the serene Johnstone River and in the shadow of Queensland’s tallest mountain, lays the picturesque town of Innisfail. Surrounded by world heritage rainforest and blessed with the closet access to the Great Barrier Reef. Over 100kms of near deserted beaches and numerous hidden waterfalls, this place has it all and is often referred to as ‘Paradise’. Innisfail is predominantly a farming region in sugar cane and bananas but as it sits between Cairns and Mission Beach, tourism is just beginning to surge ahead.
