A stunning listed mill tucked away on the edge of Hathersage, Derybshire an idyllic village in the Peak National Park. The Music Mill pays homage to the buildings musical heritage as an intriguing location for making the first gramophone needles in the UK.
The indulgence you need after experiencing the Peak District outdoor adventures on your doorstep. The Music Mill wows you, as you enter through the old workers entrance, into the stunning open plan living area. Enjoy the cavernous, social space; cook a feast for family & friends, catch up in front of the log burner, have a film night with the blue ray/DVD player or relax a while in the originally styled bathroom. For our younger guests (or the young at heart!) we have a games console with a small selection of games. The Mill is hidden in the Derbyshire hills, by a stream at the edge of Hathersage Village. The Mill keeps its Victorian industrial appearance on the outside but now has contemporary comfort and decadent design on the inside. The quaint village of Hathersage is within 5 minutes walk of the Mill with a wealth of history .... The brother of Charlotte Bronte's school friend Ellen Hussey was vicar of Hathersage. In 1845, Charlotte stayed at the vicarage preparing for the return of the vicar and his wife from honeymoon. She spent weeks exploring the moors and the houses scattered among them. These, and the chiming church clock, all became part of her famous novel 'Jane Eyre'.Outlaw Robin Hood is said to have been born at Loxley, just eight miles from Hathersage. His lieutenant, Little John, is reputedly buried in Hathersage churchyard, in a grave measuring 11 feet from headstone to footstone. Hathersage train station is in 5 minutes walking distance of the Mill. The village is served by a public transport service. Manchester Airport is the nearest airport and rail travel is available from the airport to Hathersage.

  • What a luxurious place! Great for relaxing and a perfect location for some fabulous Peak District walks. The nearby Hathersage Social Club comes highly recommended for food (if you don't want to cook in the exceedingly well equipped kitchen). We will hopefully return soon!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Music Mill, the pictures are beautiful but it’s even more stunning in real life. It’s situated in a lovely village and it was perfect for going on long walks and coming home to retreat to the fire! There were plenty of nice restaurants too. Thank you Jo for one of the best stays I’ve had. I would recommend to anyone and hope to come back again!

  • What a place! Three generations of my family thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful house in the stunning countryside. We had everything we we could need at the house and anything else could be found nearby. The hosts were great with communication and offered so many little touches to help us through our stay. I would definitely revisit and recommend to anyone. Thank you so much!

  • The Mill is a beautiful property situated in the delightful small town of Hathersage. Our family group of 6 adults and 1 child stopped over for 3 nights and the property comfortably accommodated us. We were impressed with the cleanliness, accuracy of description of the property and the little extras left to help us settle in. We would be happy to recommend the Mill to anyone considering a stopover in the Peak District.

    Ian2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, friendly and very cosy! We have had a wonderful weekend staying here. There is so much to do in the village and the area is beautiful. Thank you so much Helen, it really was perfect !

    Sam2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very quaint and perfect if you are in need of a break away. It’s a perfect place for a couple (we took the dog too) and a great escape from ordinary life. Helen was a great host and incredibly helpful. The village of Eyam offers some lovely pubs and coffee shops which are ideal for a pit stop. There are plenty of walks in the local area, we would recommend the 4 mile walk from Eyam and the 7 mile walk over Mam Tor from Castleton.

    Louise2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great base for staying in the Peak District. Helens cottage is very clean, cosy and comfortable. It really does have everything you need for a break away. The cottage was lovely and warm in the cold weather. The weather was abit hit and miss during our visit. We wondered out as much as we could but it was lovely to just sit in and watch some of the great dvd collection. Thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet break away.

    Louise2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful time in Helen's sweet little cottage. Gorgeous and warm with nice touches and kitchen basics. We loved reading about the village history and the walks around the area. The cottage water pressure and heating were fantastic and everything felt very clean. Fantastic communication before and throughout, but our privacy was well respected. Thanks for a lovely weekend :)

My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. Ideal base for walking, cycling, climbing, and exploring the Peak National Park. Many historic houses only a short drive away including Chatworth which is less than 4 miles away, there is also Haddon Hall which is 6 miles away, the historic market town of Bakewell is only 4 miles away. The Barn is located in the grounds of Beewood cottage which is located in the small quiet village of Froggatt, easy access to all activities
The space inside our barn is open plan living at its best, light and airy inside, comfortable 5ft bed and also has a role top bath. With its own distinctive style you can enjoy your nights by a log burning fire with a glass of wine after a long day of walking.
Great location for walking, cycling, climbing, and exploring and fantastic views. The barn is situated in the heart of froggatt where there is easy access to all walks and public footpaths and other activities. A peaceful and quite setting, and there are great places to eat nearby.
  • The place is exactly like the pictures, very clean, with a lovely decoration, candles... The location is strategic for walks, there's a foot path just next to the cottage and you can do many walks from there, including to the Curbar Edge.

    Olivia2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the whole feel of the place! perfect location for walking, great views and countryside too.

    Lucy2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved the space, it was very clean and extremely comfortable. Especially how there were cakes left for us on arrival was a very thoughtful touch. The only thing I would add is a few more cutlery to use and condiments to accompany breakfast. Other than that, I would definitely return to Samantha’s cottage again as we had such a wonderful time.

  • Really cute stylish loft in a stunning area. We did have to drive in the evening as it was winter and too dark to walk back from Calver along the river..... but would gladly recommend. Excellent comms and seamless check in/out

Kingfisher Cottage is attached to Bridge House, situated in the Peak District village of Bamford and benefits from a beautiful view of the River Derwent. The Cottage, which is within walking distance of Bamford train and bus station and local shops, has it's own garden and seating area on the bank of the river. The Cottage has private access and parking is available. Fly fishing is also available by arrangement with hosts.
Small kitchen with cooker, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, washer and tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. The main living area has a TV, wifi, sofa, dining table and chairs. Upstairs there is a double bed, wardrobe and dressing table including hairdryer. The bathroom features a bath, shower and towels.
Bamford is situated in the Hope Valley within the Peak District. There are local shops, 2 pubs, bus and train station and many beautiful walks on the doorstep. 24hour garage within easy walking distance and open air swimming pool 2 miles away in Hathersage.
  • Kingfisher Cottage is a wonderful property located right next to the village of Bamford, located closely to the local train station and village shop. The property is beautifully maintained by the hosts, and creates a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. Inside Kingfisher cottage are several amenities, such as both a bath and a shower, a stocked kitchen, and a washing machine/tumble dryer, as well as several touches by the hosts themselves. The property, while a bit smaller than the photos offer, is still plenty spacious for two people. The local knowledge of these hosts is handily dispensed through a wonderful information folder, which is available at the property. Using this, we were able to effectively plan our trip in the Peak District and fill it with wonderful activities. Overall, I could not recommend Kingfisher Cottage enough to individuals, couples, or small groups wishing to stay in the Peak District. A truly wonderful property with some fantastic hosts.

  • This is a lovely cottage, and although situates off a main road we did not notice traffic noise once inside the property. It is located next to a beautiful river, with a quaint interior. Jane is very accommodating, with quick helpful responses. We would definitely stay again.

    Beth2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Kingfisher cottage is in a beautiful location and Jane is a great host. It is spotlessly clean, very comfortable and within very easy reach of lovely places to walk as well as an abundance of good places to eat.

  • It was a great 2 night stay that fulfilled our exceptions , if not beat them. The cottage had beautiful modern decor and with a great location with lots of great walks!

    Harry2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice place, Jane and her husband were very friendly. The kitchen was well stocked with things to cook with (ie oil) and she provided us with eggs and milk which was greatly appreciated

    Max2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jane’s Place is in the heart of the Peak District, and an ideal place to stay if you are exploring the park. Whilst adjacent to quite a busy road, inside the cosy walls you couldn’t hear the traffic. A lovely clean, cosy space, we would recommend Kingfisher cottage!

  • Our first time staying in a shepherds hut. Digby’s hut was very spacious and it had everything we needed. Location is perfect for exploring the peaks and the closest pub is just a 15 minute walk away. The hut is very modern and clean, with WIFI, Bluetooth built in speakers and a log burner. The bed is super comfy with towels and toiletries provided. Dog friendly, ours had a lovely time too.. the area around the hut is enclosed with a small wooden gate.. allowing him to roam safely. The farm is immaculate and well kept with security gates and lighting. Lovely find and we’ll certainly be visiting again

  • We had a wonderful weekend at Digby’s hut. The accommodation itself had everything we needed with lots of lovely extra touches. As mentioned by others the bed and bedding were incredibly comfortable and the whole place was spotlessly clean and well finished throughout. We took our two little jack russells who were kept secure happily pottering around in the gated area around the hut while we were able to relax in the hot tub. It does take a good while to heat the tub on the first night but it heated very quickly the next day for a relaxing post walk soak! Definitely worth the heating time. A beautiful area for walks/local pubs and the host replied really promptly when we asked a question. Flawless service in lovely accommodation, we will be recommending to friends and family. Thank you for a great stay!

  • Just got back from an amazing weekend at Digby Hut! If your looking to go, don’t hum and haw, just book - you will not regret! Booked this for a surprise weekend away for my boyfriend and everything was just perfect. Penny was incredibly quick with her responses making it very swift and easy to book. You have everything you could possibly need in the hut! I loved the cute storage baskets under the couch! They have really put thought into all the little touches! The hot tub was amazing! Sitting in it, relaxing whilst smelling the logs burning was blissful! It did take a little longer that 2 hours to get up to temperature the first night, around 3-4 hours with constant stirring - however so worth the wait! The next day it was still warm in the morning and only took an hour once we come back from our hike in the afternoon before we could jump in! The bed was unbelievably comfy, the best night sleep we had in a long time. The hut is very warm and cosy with a simple heat control system and a cute log fire. Brosterfield Farm is so peaceful, it was lovely to be away from all the hustle and bustle and waking up to hearing the birds singing. Highly recommend the bulls head, Foolow for Sunday lunch. Also tollbar fish and chip shop down in Stoney Middleton. We will be back. Thanks again Penny!

  • A wonderful stay. Sharon was so helpful with organising our visit. We managed to visit a local pub for food which was delicious. The building was homely and clean. The pool table is an amazing feature. We stayed up late playing games! The bar is a wonderful touch. Although the building wasn't the warmest, sharon happily kept the heating on for us and also provided us with extra heaters. We will definitely be back in the summer for another visit.

The hosts were very quick to respond and very flexible about check-in time. The beds were comfortable and it was cosy despite stormy weather outside. There is a pool table which was quite a fun addition to the space. I really enjoyed the easy access to running in the peak district. Super stay!

Beautiful cottage set in mature gardens and surrounded by peaceful open countryside with magnificent views of Shatton moor and Hope valley. A walker's paradise or a businessman's bolt hole. It is ideal for people who love the country. Dogs allowed.
Paddock Cottage car park is just before entering the farmyard, this leads to an east facing terrace and front door, with lovely views across the valley. A well behaved dog is acceptable here if pre-arranged. The living room, with a wood stove, has only three steps up to the double bedroom and re-furbished bathroom with over bath shower. The twin room is off the tiled entrance hall. Electric CH. This is a cosy winter retreat.
We are lucky enough to live in the beautiful Peak District. The area is ideal for walking and there are many well signposted footpaths of varying lengths in the Valley. Other outdoor activities such as cycling and hang gliding are also available locally and there is an outdoor swimming pool at Hathersage. The area is rich in history, with numerous caverns in Castleton, the Plague Village of Eyam and the stately homes of Chatsworth and Haddon nearby. The cities of Sheffield and Manchester are both within reach by car or public transport and offer cinema, theatre, concerts and museums. The smaller market town of Bakewell is also nearby.

  • Absolutely perfect stay.

  • A cosy little getaway with lovely views and loads of recommendations for local walks and activities

    Mark2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is an ideal stop for walkers or climbers with pets - warm, welcoming, perfectly located and with a lovely hot bath! We were stranded by vehicle problems and both Keith and Jane went out of their way to show kindess and hospitality to us and the dog. Excellent value for a group of four or even six people (sofa beds) to stay in the most beautiful location.

  • Lovely cottage, with lots of great walks nearby.

    Samantha2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very cosy and warm and when we arrived in December there were Christmas lights and decorations, which made it very welcoming. The kitchen is small, it was probably a utility room at some point with a cooker installed in a corner where a tumble dryer used to be, there's still a hole through the wall for a duct. The fridge is on a table in the living room which is a little inconvenient. In the bathroom, the shower is not fixed to the wall with the correct fitting so you can't stand under it to shower, you have to hold the shower in one hand whilst washing with the other. Having said that, the views are stunning and the property was spotless when we arrived. Communication was clear and helpful with very quick answers to our questions. The owners provide information and maps for the local area, including details of lots of walks which mainly seem to end at pubs. The nearby walk along the banks of the River Derwent is very beautiful and the views from the cottage are spectacular. The garden is not completely enclosed, there's no gate from the garden to the drive so we weren't able to let our dog wander around on her own in the garden, which was a shame. In warmer weather the garden would be a lovely place to sit on a sunny evening, the view across the valley is superb. The bedrooms are basic but comfortable with sufficient storage and the hosts also provide ingredients for breakfast, tea, coffee and milk which we greatly appreciated.

  • Worked out well for us and the recommendation of the local pub the Chequers Inn was a great place for dinner on an autumn evening

  • A beautiful barn conversation perfect for a little getaway. We loved our stay with our little pup and enjoyed taking him with us in the many dog friendly pubs. Would highly recommend kingfisher lodge to anyone - the location is stunning and the place is modern and cosy. Just what we needed!

  • Katie’s place is situated in a quiet little village surrounded by beauty. We stayed for just one night but could have stayed for much longer. The lodge has everything you need, along with stunning views of Froggatt Edge and the countryside around you. Really easy to find and there’s a really nice pub about 10 minutes away on foot Hope to stay again soon!

  • We loved our stay in Kingfishers Lodge, it felt like home away from home. Everything we could have needed was available, plus great location for our hike the next morning. Bonus being greeted by Katie and the ponies on our arrival. We would happily stay again when next in the area.

  • We have been coming up to this area for over 10 years now and finally we have find somewhere we can’t wait to return to. Kingfisher Lodge has ticked all the boxes. Clean, spacious, quiet location with plenty of walks straight from the door. Both warm and cozy and it really does have a comfortable bed. Although we only stayed one night, we can’t wait to rebook and hopefully longer next time. Katie and her husband were very welcoming on arrival.

  • Fabulous lodge with stunning views of the countryside and fantastic little touches.

    Tara2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for our overnight stay. There was nothing more we could ask for . Great location if you are planning to visit Chatsworth House..... just a 10 minute drive away. Katie the host came to meet us and check we had what we needed and then left us to relax. Just a tip ... ask for specific instructions on how find it. Our sat nav took us almost to the door but because we arrived in the dark we had to ask a local resident. It was my fault for not double checking location and relying on sat nav only. Totally recommend this place for comfort , cleanliness and location.

From the end of October to mid-March my place is closed to short-stay visitors. If you were interested in a longer stay please contact me. My house is well placed for people who love the countryside. Cyclists and walkers just walk out the door. The house is a traditional cottage, with lovely views over the Hope Valley. Easy rail access to Sheffield and Manchester. A cat lives here with me.
Firstly, please note that I have a cat in the house , but not in guests' rooms. The house is a cottage, with lovely views over the Hope Valley. There are two rooms available, if you want to book both then book one through this listing and for the other please refer to my other listing " A Hope Valley Home Welcomes You Too." Both rooms can have a double bed and one can have one or two singles. You also have use of the kitchen, dining and sitting rooms, plus garden and conservatory. There's one bathroom for the sole use of guests, sitting space open to visitors including a south-facing conservatory, and a lovely garden. You're welcome to help yourself to tea /coffee and to use the kitchen. There's a dish-washer and washing machine if needed. There's gas central heating and extra heating if required, and also log burning stoves. There's wi-fi and internet, the broadband should be 'unlimited' but isn't as good as advertised, suitable for everyday use but probably not working intensive working or downloading. There are two rooms available for renting, one with a double bed and the other with either a single, two singles or zipped together another double bed. This room is downstairs next to the bathroom. The upstairs double room has its own wash basin but is further from the bathroom, and has its own entrance. To book this room refer to my other listing A Hope Valley home welcomes you. My house is clean, comfortable and welcoming but I wouldn't describe it as immaculate and there are certainly no air-fresheners! For the most part I try to live without too much of a 'footprint'. After the summer a room is available for longer term renting- suitable for a professional person wanting a quiet place to go to work from, possibly on a Monday- Friday basis if requested. The 271/272 bus to Sheffield is two minutes from the house, running hourly into the evening, and taking about 40 minutes to reach the centre of Sheffield. The Sheffield/Manchester rail line and village centre is 15 minutes walk. The local pub is two minutes walk where you can get fairly priced meals. There are a choice of restaurants within a 10 mile radius, two Indian restaurants in the village and a big plus about our village is the outdoor swimming pool open from March to the end of October, one of few left in the country. A further mile beyond the village is a shop and cafe with fabulous views of birds feeding on the birdtables just outside the windows, a little closer is a family farm selling homemade ice-cream. The village (Hathersage) has small supermarkets, fruit and veg shop, supplies for walkers and climbers, a good deli and several pubs and tea-shops. Local societies put on plays and concerts. The Monsal Dale cycle track is is about 7 miles away. Climbers come to use the local edges for climbing and bouldering. There's a Norman Castle (Peveril in Castleton) and the famous Blue John mines/ caves. There are hundreds of well-marked walking routes throughout the Peak District. From March to the end of September the HEATED OPEN AIR POOL is open, with beautiful views as you swim. The whole of the Peak district is at your disposal, I can suggest local walks and information, and offer maps or even walk-leading on occasion if requested. Access by car is limited, you could drive your car down a small lane, otherwise leave it two minutes walk away, by agreement, in the pub's car park. During October and November the SHEFFIELD LITERARY FESTIVAL is on. Check out " Off the Shelf". The house is built on the site of a much older cottage listed in the fourteen hundreds. If you're six feet tall you'll need to mind your head going through some doorways. A note of caution- this is the country and paths may be bumpy and muddy, stones slippery when wet or when there are fallen leaves. Be prepared.
It' a beautiful location in the Peak National Park, rich in local amenities- places to eat, get a coffee, shops, garage, events. There are wonderful and varied walks, on the high moors, over hills, in dales and woodland. It is very quiet and peaceful without being isolated.
  • A perfect base to explore peak district! Marion is very kind to pick us up from the train station in the dark. We had nice little conversation and she gave very useful hiking tips, showing great hospitality. The view from the room is stunning!! Definitely a place would love to return to :))

    Paige2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Marion's place was the perfect base for a weekend of hiking in the Peak District. The room was cozy and clean, and Marion's hospitality and knowledge of the area made for a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable few days. Would 100% recommend and stay again!

  • A truly unique location and an absolutely beautiful place to stay. The host was helpful with local tourist tips. breakfast was included, car parking too. Recommended A+++

    Eessa2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Marion is indeed a super host: staying at her cottage felt like being at home! We were surprised by a delicious breakfast every morning and enjoyed her excellent tips about local hikes. We fell in love with her wonderful cat!

    Davide2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is possibly the best place to stay in the Peaks district. A private room, and amazing sunroom with million dollar views over the Hope Valley and a host that knows all the footpaths and pubs and everything a traveller needs to get around. There is also a fabulous garden and if you're lucky you might get some fresh berries or other delicacy from Marion's little eden. The home is just above Hathersage and if you are accustomed to the hills, a short walk to the village or the local train station. If you need a pint, there is an pub up a very short path. Marion offers insider information on everything local. I actually can't think of enough superlatives for this room/home.

    Raymond2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • A cottage full of character with an warm invitation to make yourself at home

    Sue2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Marion’s home is the most charming place I have ever stayed. We felt completely at home and comfortable. Marion met us at the pub nearby to direct us to the cottage. It is located down a very narrow road and can be difficult to find on the first try. There is a walking path to the pub, which had wonderful food and service. We visited multiple times. Also a short drive away is great hiking at Stanage Edge. Marion’s home has all the basic amenities you need and she was kind enough to provide us with a delicious breakfast every morning. Plus the bedroom has an absolutely stunning view! Getting to spend time with her cat was a great perk as well. I would not hesitate to come back in the future.

    Sarah2019-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Marion was a great host. She was always very responsive to my needs and had made sure my stay was a joyous one. The house is located on a footpath and there are several good walks starting right from the house. it is about 15-20mins walk from the train station. The bus stop is only 1 min away. Marion picked me up on the first day, very kind of her! She even offered to give me a lift to the station on the day I left! The room was very clean and has a spectacular view. Private toilet just next to the room.

  • Delightful! By far the best Air BnB experience I've ever had. If you're looking for a rural getaway, this is the place for you. The location is a short drive from all the major points of interest and the cottage itself is cosy, homely & so inviting. The kitchen is very well stocked & there was even a bottle of bubbly welcoming me to the cottage! The rooms are spotless & real attention to detail has been paid. There are lots of thoughtful additions, such as a basket of board games & the welcome pack is comprehensive. Cathy offered me tips on where to walk and sent me addresses of tea rooms . I absolutely loved my stay & was sad to leave. I'll definitely be back! Thank you, Cathy and family 😊

  • Cathy and Paul are one of the most amazing hosts I have came across with. From the moment I arrived, they showed me great hospitality and offered to help me beyond what is required of them as hosts. If you are looking to connect with new people during your stay, Cathy's cottage is definitely the place to go! They are very approachable and outgoing which made my trip to the Peak District very memorable.

  • Great location and views. Carol gave good advice about a local pub to visit and some as very welcoming. Breakfast was a lovely home cooked treat and the hand made jam and curd were delicious. Also very comfy bed x

  • Carol is a very attentive host and laid on a lovely breakfast. Her cottage is in a very quiet village in beautiful countryside and very comfortable. I did not want for anything and hope to revisit again

  • Carol's place is just wonderful. You have your own key for our accommodation and so can come and go freely. Her recommendation of local pubs for food was excellent and her advice of where to walk gave us stunning views. Bed very comfortable and the breakfast was outstanding.

Lovely light airy studio apartment in the heart of the Peak District. Wonderfully located on a small farm with horses, dogs & a cat. Comfortable king size bed &living area with sofa bed. Well equipped kitchenette and separate shower wet room. Located right under Curbar Edge, a well known climbing and walking area, immediately onto footpaths, and 4 miles from Chatsworth Estate. Also 4 miles to market town of Bakewell. Walking distance to 3 local pubs. Great road and mountain biking routes.
Located in a small traditional Derbyshire farm, this apartment is separate from the main house, above the farm's garage, built in old stone. Away from main roads, this is a perfect getaway for anyone wanting a stay in the country. Access is up external stairs (see picture) so please bear this in mind. Fabulous views over fields. Immediate access onto wonderful walks. Comfortable sofabed, TV and satellite TV with the free channels, good wifi - you can log on to your Netflicks via the satbox should you require. DVDs also available in the studio should you get a wet day here or fancy a bit of chill time. The kitchette has a sink (with washing up equipment), a fridge, a double electric hob, microwave, toaster and kettle. Most basic cooking/eating equipment supplied. Teas, coffee, milk for breakfast, cereals and bread for toasting supplied. The shower is in a wet room. We have had an electric shower fitted in March 2019 so whereas the old system ran out of water quite quickly, now this is not the case! Please note, if you book for 2 people I assume you just require the king size bed making up. If you require the sofabed please let me know and I will make it up for you!
Locally , there is a very good, award winning Spar on Calver cross roads. Down hill to A623 turn right towards Stoney Middleton/Manchester. About half a mile on left is the Spar. Cafe/coffee shop here. Fuel station on RHS. Left at crossroads is Calver Sough Garden Centre. Also has cafe. Good cakes. At bottom of our hill is The Bridge pub. Good food, great G&Ts On right over the bridge is Derbyshire Craft Centre. A lovely gift centre also with a cafe. In Calver Mill there is a beauty place called Alive. Yoga sessions also available. Chatsworth is the major local attraction and def worth a visit. The gardens are spectacular and you can take dogs in here. The house is not for doggies - but again, worth a trip. Close to Eyam, Haddon Hall, Castleton, loads of places. And of course amazing walks from your door. Local garage is Froggatt Edge Garage in case of car emergencies. Turn right at Calver crossroads and it is on RHS. Good local garage.
  • Becky is an amazing host and her hospitality is fabulous. You’ll find some nice touches on arrival, and she can’t do enough to accommodate her guests. The location is fantastic just a 15 minute walk to some amazing scenery and there is a great pub / restaurant nearby too.

There were walks in the Peak District straight from our doors and restaurants and shops a short distance away. The accommodation was spacious for the two of us with a dog and had everything we needed. Becky was a great host.

The reception for those of you who don’t want to switch off from the world is brilliant. We were able to use Netflix on the TV provided throughout our whole stay. Overall an amazing cosy stay and would not hesitate to book again. The walks nearby give you amazing views over the hills.

This stylishly decorated cosy stone Cottage is set within the owners beautiful grounds and gardens. It’s completely surround by the most stunning scenery of the spectacular Hope Valley, in the heart of the Peak District national park. The light and airy cottage is beautifully decorated and has lovely features such as exposed beams and a spiral staircase. Apart from the many localwalks to be had, there is cycle hire and an open air swimming pool minutes away.
The location of this beautiful cottage is stunning and the scenery breath taking.
There are several good restaurants in the local village of Hathersage, also several pubs, 2 small supermarkets and a petrol station. There is also a train station and an outdoor public swimming pool.
  • A very cute and quaint cottage set a little way out of the hussle and bussle, but close enough to enjoy the local village of Hathersage. We’re quite fit and able but wouldn’t choose to walk the roads to the village so would advise future occupants to expect to use your vehicle. Comfortable, clean and beautiful; lovely homely feel and I wish we could have taken the bedding away with us - so fresh and cosy! Diana left us to our own devices but was quick to reply if we messaged. It was nice not to worry about when we came or went and the setting was beautiful. We came to hike the Stanage Edge and this was the perfect spot to do it from.

    Dianne2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cottage was very cute and cosy too. The position was idyllic and the only shame was the rain!

    Lucy2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute, comfy cottage perfect for exploring the Peak District. It is so quiet and peaceful & just what we needed to relax after a hectic Christmas period. Communication with Diana was great and she answered any questions we had quickly. As Diana states, I would 100% recommend having a car as it helps to explore all the beautiful places near and far. So many walks straight from the cottage too. Thank you!

    Emma2019-12-29T00:00:00Z

My house is set in the heart of picturesque Hathersage, it is ideal for people who love the countryside whether it's for walking, climbing, cycling, running or a simple escape from the hectic city.
It is a traditional terraced cottage in the centre of Hathersage, that was once part of the pin and needles industry. The village of Hathersage is nestled below rolling moorland and the three mile long gritstone escarpment of Stanage Edge, my local pub is the Little John and the village is associated with the legendary medieval outlaw that ran with Robin Hood. The village is also lucky enough to have a heated outdoor swimming pool which is open from Spring to Autumn. The house has two rooms available for renting so there may be other guests staying; the back room which is this listing is suitable for one, has a double bed and good storage. The loft room is a good size, please see the other listing, suitable for a couple or single, has a double bed with good storage. There is a shared bathroom on the ground floor. I keep my home clean and welcoming, however it is a used and lived in house so there will be lumps and bumps. You are welcome to help yourself to tea/coffee and to use the kitchen however you need to provide your own food e.g. breakfast. The living room has a log burner and logs can be bought from the centre of the village which is only a couple of minutes away. I have a decent garden which provides a good place to lie out in the sun on summers days and it's close to a farm (Thorpe Farm) that sells locally made ice cream. I'm easily easily accessed by train and bus which is a 5 minute walk away or car with excellent off street parking. Sheffield and Manchester are within easy reach. I can recommend good climbing areas and numerous walks and runs in the region or point you in the direction of the local pubs, tea shops, a couple of small supermarkets and Indian restaurants. There is also a fruit and veg shop and a good butchers nearby. I hope you enjoy your stay.
It is an idylic village in the Peak National Park with numerous facilities. The house is on a quiet backwater yet only a couple of minutes from the centre of the village. There are numerous dales, river walks, open moorland and cragging opportunities.
  • Cosy, comfortable room in an excellent location with good running, hiking and climbing. Paul was friendly and easy to communicate with, and check-in was simple. The house was clean and the bed was comfortable. Fantastic shower! I would strongly recommend this place to anyone wanting to explore Hathersage and the Peak District.

    Victoria2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice stay at Paul's, who was actually away but communication and instructions beforehand were great so easy to check in and get settled, with a neighbour on hand if needed too. So I had the place to myself and a really nice and clean home and room in a great, peaceful, scenic location yet with everything a short stroll away. Highly recommended.

    Brett2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Super comfy bed and a nice, clean, warm room. Perfect place to stay after attending a course in the area. Paul is very friendly and made me feel very welcome. Would definitely stay here again if I'm in the area.

    Sophie2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was a great host. His house is clean and warm. The bed was comfy and the place is ideally located for exploring the Dark Peak. Lots of good places to eat nearby.

We provide fresh towels. Hairdryer. Tea/coffee/milk/sugar/crockery & cutlery are all provided for your stay. (note: as we provide a breakfast hamper, there are no cooking facilities at the hut. You will need to bring your own fuel for the bbq)
Eyam is a small Peak District village famous for the Plague. It has a museum, church, pub, village shop, historic Eyam Hall & craft centre with onsite micro-brewery & good cafe/tea rooms. A short walk away are 3 friendly pubs. All offer excellent food, country atmosphere & a warm welcome. If you prefer a takeaway, there is a good fish & chip shop in the neighboring village along with an Indian restaurant.
  • The hut is beautiful and the scenery surrounding it is gorgeous. There is a short walk from the hut to the bathroom facilities but they provide you with a torch for the dark! The host is lovely, fast communication and although the hut is located in the hosts garden, it still feels private once you’re in there and the host gives you your space. The little touches are lovely from local suggestions, games & the breakfast hamper to the log fire with marshmallows and the fairy lights 🙌🏻

    Katie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing one night stay at the shepherds hut. Rachel was great at communication prior to our stay. The hut itself is immaculate and so so cosy, with everything you’d ever need down to torches and slippers and loads of useful info! It’s the perfect little escape and we would definitely recommend! Thank you Rachel!

    Katie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The shepherd's hut is exactly as described in the listing. The hut is cosy and homely, and despite staying in the midst of a storm we were toasty warm thanks to the log burner. The hut and wash room were clean and there were lots of thoughtful touches, like games to play, books to read, and other activities. Breakfast was very tasty. We only briefly met Rachel, as she didn't want to intrude on our time there, but she was very helpful and welcoming. Would definitely visit again!

  • Wonderful cottage with a lovely interior and some outside space. Great location for mam tor and Stanage edge. Penny was always prompt with her replies and very helpful following a power cut during one of the nights.

    Ronak2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • The stay at Brosterfield Farm was even better than we could have imagined from the images. The cottage was sparkling clean and incredibly cosy - the underfloor heating was a real treat after a long day of walking! The view surrounding the farm is beautiful and the amenities within the cottage were all we could have hoped for. Letting ourselves in with the key box made it feel very secluded and private but with information in the guest book about how to contact Penny and members of her family made it also feel like they would be on hand if ever we needed anything. The cottage came with a good amount of recommendations for places to eat and taxi services that we also utilised. I cannot recommend this cottage enough!

Our characterful house is an old coach house dating from 1700. It sits at the top of Curbar village with uninterrupted views of beautiful Curbar Edge. It’s within easy walking distance of the Edge and has great attractions within a short drive, including Chatsworth, Bakewell and Eyam. We offer a comfy double room, living room and bathroom in a self contained guest suite. We don’t serve breakfast, but there’s a lovely cafe at the bottom of the hill or you are welcome to bring your own supplies.
The guest suite is attached to our house but is accessed via a different gate to the one the family use and has its own entrance - you'll have a set of keys that will allow you to come and go as you please and lots of privacy. Inside you will have your own living room, a bedroom with double bed and a bathroom with shower. We supply bath and hand towels and there is a TV and hairdryer. We don't serve breakfast but there are tea and coffee making facilities in the room. There are places nearby to get breakfast and the local Spar also has a bakery. There are 2 plates, bowls, spoons, knives, glasses, a bottle opener and a small fridge in the room in case you want to bring your own supplies.
Curbar sits at the heart of the Peak District with easy access from the M1, Sheffield and Chesterfield. The Peak District is a great area for walking, climbing and biking and there are many great walks from our doorstep. Chatsworth House with its beautiful grounds, gardens and outdoor adventure park and farm is a 5 minute drive away. The market town of Bakewell is 10 minutes drive, and Castleton, with its famous caves, just 20 minutes away. Curbar Edge is within walking distance and a great place to watch the sunset before heading out for your evening meal. Stanedge and Burbage Edges are just 15 minutes drive. There is a great local pub serving lunch and dinner and a fab cafe serving breakfast, lunch and homemade cakes at the bottom of the hill. Baslow, less than 5 minute drive away, has great bars and pubs, included a Michelin starred restaurant.

  • Stephen's place was just what we'd hoped for - a proper farm cottage, with a cosy feel. The log burner was great and made for lovely, warm, relaxing evenings. Communication was easy and very clear, and everything was as expected. We appreciated the little extra touches too - a few goodies and lots of local information. It is also well situated to explore Buxton, Bakewell and of course, the best of the Peak District is on your doorstep!

  • Stephen’s cottage is an absolutely lovely cosy little place to stay - the location is fantastic for walks in the Peak District with spectacular views, and coming back after a day of walking to the log fire is an absolute treat. Stephen was a lovely host the place was very clean and tidy and had some really thoughtful touches such as leaving a bottle of wine out for us to celebrate our anniversary - we would have no hesitations about coming to stay again, in fact I am already planning to do so with some friends when the weather gets a bit nicer! Thanks for a lovely weekend. Amy and Sam :)

A spacious modern apartment in the heart of the Peak District surrounded by beautiful countryside. Great for families and for groups of friends that might want a walking holiday. Two of the bedrooms can be made up as twin beds or superkingsize. The third bedroom has a double bed. There is also a cot and high chair in the apartment. Stoney Middleton has a friendly pub, village chip shop and a curry cottage with a cave! Chatsworth, Bakewell, Eyam and Grindleford are all nearby.
The single/superking size beds are 6ft 3 inches long and very comfy. Bedrooms 1 and 3 have zip and link beds which means they can be singles or superkingsize. Bedroom 2 is a standard size double to sleep one person. There's 4 steps down into the outside terrace from the road and then the rest of the apartment is all on one floor. Although the style of the apartment is modern, its in an old building dating from about 1840.
The apartment is in a brilliant village that has a pub called The Moon Inn which does great food and has a quiz night on a Sunday. The Toll Bar Chip Shop is the only Grade 2 listed chip shop in the country. There is also a shop in the village selling bread, milk etc.
  • Kate was a great host! We checked in easily with the key safe, everything was just as described. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was clean and well appointed and kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own meals. The location was perfect to explore the peak district. We would definitely recommend Kate's place!

We love the little touches such as tea, squash and breakfast cereals. We went to the pub for a drink and felt very welcomed there. We had a delicious dinner in the curry cottage. The location was perfect for local walks and sightseeing. Lovely little walk 4.5 miles in the morning. Thank you for having us 💕

  • Very clean and spacious apartment with 2 very comfortable large super king beds. Kate provided fabulous detailed instructions to Bamford Edge for us along with helpful instructions about the house and the key safe. She provided us with an assortment of breakfast bars, tea, coffee, milk, orange squash, fruit and biscuits. She also left shower gel and shampoo for us along with plenty of towels. The living area is full of books and games and there is also Sky TV and a good WiFi connection too. We will definitely be staying here again and bring family with us for a relaxing weekend in the summer. Thank you for behind a wonderful host!

  • Thanks for accommodating Catherine and I over the Yuletide Penny :-) Apologies for being a touch late on check out. Some small feedback from us: when starting the fire there was some smoking that came into the room, and the flue plate inside the fire was slightly out of place which I think didn't help; but once hot and drawing it was fine :-). When we got to the cottage we couldn't find the fridge! I assumed it just didn't have one, but having just re-checked the listing it is listed: were we just v blind!? I should have messaged you! Thanks for making such a beautiful cottage available in this stunning location. It was a completely idyllic weekend.

    Matt2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, cosy cottage perfect for hibernating in after long days out walking in the Peaks. Great location for Bakewell and Castleton whilst being out of their busier bustle. Had no problems with the Wi-Fi but was never streaming videos, TV had all your standard channels. The pub being in stumbling distance was certainly a bonus, offering delicious veggie and meat dishes and good local beer! I'm sure we'll be back! :)

    Jess2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint little cottage ideal for a couple weekend away. Log burner is a warm welcome on returning from the outdoors. Great location!! The pub which you can see from the front gate, serves excellent lunches and dinners! The most beautiful waterfall is only a short walk away, but has a very steep decent & is hidden from the road so do your research first! Hosts were very attentive towards our questions regarding Xmas activities & know the local areas well.

  • Just come home from a a 3 night stay at Scott's, from the start he was quick to respond and very helpful. Met him at the property at the arranged time where he greeted us with fresh bread and milk (lovely touch.) Showed us round the flat and then left us to enjoy our stay saying if we needed any local tips or advice just ask. The flat had every thing we needed and was very clean warm and comfortable. Great location. Thanks again Scott!

    Leanne2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a 3 night break in Scott’s clean, comfortable, quiet flat in a convenient location moments from the Peak District. Very warm and cosy. Plenty of hot water and excellent shower. Scott met us personally at the flat and showed us around. Thoughtfully left some bread and milk which was a nice touch. Lovely views and fantastic bird watching from the large windows which was an unexpected bonus!

    Wayne2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great space for our visit. Ideal for checking out the local area. In a quiet apartment block within walking distance to the local pub. Short drive to the nearest station. Scott was great in leaving us breakfast for the weekend - nice touch!

    Amy2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely flat, cozy, clean, comfortable, quiet and spacious, with a particularly fabulous shoe rack! Better in real life than the already great photos. Scott is a super host, provided thoughtful touches, was quick to reply if we had questions, but otherwise left us to enjoy our stay.

    Kerrie2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at the flat - it was well-kept and had everything we needed. Great location too, with easy access to the Peak District national park and a short commute into Sheffield city centre. Scott was very accommodating and communicative as well. Would definitely stay here again.

    Robbie2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Scott’s flat situates in a lovely outskirt of Sheffield and only five minutes drive into Peak District and 20 minutes drive into the city centre. It’s in a quiet residential area, there are 2 buses to town and about 10-15 walk to the bus stop, there you can also find local shops for general needs. Scott is a great host, he explained when we have queries, he prepared milk, bread, tea and coffee for our first 2 days breakfast which is very considerate for someone new to the area. We stayed there for a month, it’s a comfortable flat, very warm and clean, it’s basically a move from home to home, we enjoyed it a lot. The only thing that occurs occasionally is the hot water in bathroom runs rather too hot or too cold. It’s definitely recommended to anyone.

    Sue2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We moved from Bournemouth to Sheffield the 2nd of September. We decided to find a place on airbnb to stay for few weeks whilst sorting a permanent accommodation. We are so happy we found Scott’s place. Is a lovely flat, with everything you might need and if there is anything missing Scott just would try to help and provide whatever we needed. The area is lovely to live or for a nice little break, is like a 20-25min bus ride to Sheffield centre (or 5 mins train if you get the train from Dore & Totley), incredibly close to the Peak District, 5 mins drive and you are surrounding by beautiful green land! If you are looking a quiet break away, this is definitely a very good option!

  • The perfect getaway for a lovely, cosy and relaxing break in Derbyshire. Periwinkle cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and very well equipped with all you could require. Comfortable bed with luxury linens, towels and dressing gowns! We very much enjoyed the bottle of bubbly and cake which Sherry left for us to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Excellent position with lovely local walks from the cottage and great pubs in the village or just to chill out! Even our dog, an active border collie, settled straightaway. Baslow and Bakewell are just a few minutes drive away. Prompt and excellent communications from Sherry. One of the best Air B&B cottages we have stayed in and we would certainly wish to return.

    Glenn2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Sherry’s cottage is gorgeous, incredibly clean, and well equipped. It was perfect for a quiet Christmas break, with lovely walks from the doorstep. The rooms are spacious and the woodburner was easy to use and delightful to sit and read by. I’d love to stay again.

  • Cosy cottage in a perfect location from Bakewell, Chatsworth, Hathersage and Hassop. We loved our stay, it was warm and cosy and the local village shop up the road is an added bonus, it sold locally sourced fresh produced, which was very yummy. Pubs in walking distance too, but the cottage was so nice it was hard to leave it in the rain ☔️ in the evening. Sherry was the perfect host. Thank you 😊

    Amy2019-12-22T00:00:00Z

Silk Cottage is situated on the edge of Eyam, commonly known as The Plague Village. The cottage is a lovely retreat, somewhere to get away from the stresses of life. Whether you want to enjoy the many physical activities available to you within the Peak District, or to just sit and relax looking out onto open countryside... Silk Cottage is perfectly located.
Detached, and with it's own parking space to the rear, the cottage was formally part of an old silk mill built in 1735, and is now converted into a well appointed cottage sleeping two people. The mill was where Ralph Wain discovered how to weave silk on both sides in 1785. In the apex of one of the walls is a pigeon loft which was used by carrier pigeons to send messages to suppliers of silk in Macclesfield. The cottage looks out up to Eyam Edge - the dividing line between the White and Dark Peak areas - making it an ideal base to explore the entire Peak District. To the rear, up Tideswell Lane, are gentle walks with paths over small walled fields. Whatever your reason for visiting the Peak District, Silk Cottage provides you with homely, well appointed accommodation, in a picturesque setting. As well as a large selection of DVD's for those dark evenings, we have now added Netflix, so an even greater selection of movies etc is available.
  • Clean and cosy cottage in beautiful surroundings.

  • We had a really comfortable stay at Paul's cottage. The area is quiet and twee and we made use of the local pubs which Paul recommended. The cottage itself was sparkling clean and very cosy with everything we needed for basic cooking. Situated in an ideal area of the Peak's, we would happily return! :)

  • Paul's place was brilliantly located and incredibly comfortable. The upstairs space is much bigger than we imagined from the pictures and perfect for a couple to stay in. The jacuzzi bath was also a great surprise. The kitchen is really well equipped too. Great place to stay in the Peak District.

  • A well described Airbnb. I did not use this as a base for walking etc, but there was a large amount of local infomation provided. The facilities provided all needed after being out- but also for the times when the weather is bad. There books, DVDs and a TV available to keep one entertained.

  • Silk Cottage is a lovely cottage with beautiful views from the upstairs windows. Lots of good walking and a very interesting village. Would we stay there again? Yes

Beautifully furnished luxury studio in stunning location with fantastic views. Great pubs and restaurants and beautiful scenery are all on your doorstep. The perfect location to explore The Peak District. Close to Bakewell and Chatsworth.
This newly built accommodation is in a secluded location with probably one of the best views of any accommodation in the peak District. Finished to a very high standard, there is a downstairs shower room and the open plan studio accommodation is on the first floor. Guests have their own garden and are welcome to use the fields by the river for summer picnics
Close to Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, the Monsal cycle trail, open air pool at Hathersage, Bakewell and stunning countryside. Great pubs and restaurants are all nearby and guests can have takeaways delivered to the property.
  • It's tricky to add yet another wonderful review but I'll try! I chose The Studio as it's only an hour from home and myself and my partner wanted a nearby weekend away to celebrate his birthday. The glowing reviews really sold this place and the photos don't show you how big the place really feels! Louise is so lovely and really welcoming, recommending lots of walks and eateries and being available before our trip for any, and all, queries I had. This place is perfect for exploring the Peaks and the recommendations of walking routes were plentiful so we were spoiled for choice! We can recommend the Plough for a relaxed pub dinner and the Maynard was nice (but busy with weddings). There's a few local shops to stock up so whilst you feel like you're in a secluded spot, all amenities are within a few miles if needed. I can't recommend this place enough for a grown up weekend away ❤️

  • Great studio, lovely surroundings and good location to explore the beautiful Hope Valley. Stayed here before and will hopefully visit again; Louise is a great host with clear and quick communications. Would highly recommend.

  • We stayed for a long weekend at the end of the Easter holidays. Louise’s place is absolutely fantastic. Lovely large open plan, light and airy studio room. Stylish decor. Scrupulously clean. All the amenities we needed and more. Fabulous view from the window (even when it was raining!). Close to Grindleford centre and really handy for Hathersage and Bakewell. Can’t wait to go back!

  • In a nutshell .. wow!! My Husband and I have just returned from an absolutely fabulous weekend away. The Studio is an amazing place to stay with stunning views and everything you need. Louise the host gave a really warm welcome, such a lovely lady and she was so helpful with tips on the area. We will definitely be returning. The only negative was that I should of booked a week not a weekend!
