  • You can expect not only the best host we have encountered here on Airbnb but a very special, quiet, and peaceful island filled with tiny nooks to explore! fires by night Swimming by day, it really is a place where you can leave all your problems back on the mainland! • A wont find a greater get away if you’re looking to unplug from the world and have four legged family members. My dogs had just a memorable time as we did running up and down being off leash the whole week. A perfect balance of camping/cottaging that is hard to find. Donna’s cabin provides everything, and i mean everything!! Just bring your food and you’re set! Theres a generator for electricity if you need electricity. But we didn’t use it once during our 4 days. To us it kind of defeats the purpose of her island retreat. But its there if you cant live without your devices. Communication was impeccable and answered all of our inquiries in a timely manner. You can tell she really genuinely enjoys sharing her island to others, hoping you have a wonderful time there as she did growing up. All in all, if you’re looking for a camping type eacape, but enjoy having a fully stocked cabin with fridge and stove. You’d be hard pressed to find a better place for you and your furry family members.

  • This island is truly a 'magical' spot!! I wasn't expecting to enjoy the remoteness and seclusion as much as I did. Donna was a wonderful host...a true angel! She accommodated us from the start and was always a text or phone call away if needed. I brought my son and his friend plus the 2 dogs....from the time we arrived I felt disconnected to the outside world. It was a peaceful, restful escape...and the hammock!!!! Nothing beats napping on one with the waves crashing in the background and the sun on your face...priceless! The canoe on the island added an extra bonus as the lads went fishing and canoed over to some of the islands a few times; even in rough waters they had a great time. The 2 dogs were also in their glory. My Aussie swam and explored her surroundings while my Rottie kept guard & barked when boats went by...it was quite amusing to see how they interacted with being 'free' for a weekend. Having a rustic charming cabin added that extra magic to our experience. Watching fireflies and the stars in the sky as we sat around the campfire at night was a pefect way to end our day. One of my most favourite things was the double rainbow we saw after a brief rainstorm...wow!!! We can't WAIT to go back next year...it's truly a little piece of heaven on a little island. Thank you Donna x

  • We were 3 ladies that have just returned from 5 nights on Donna's island and had an amazing experience. We spent our time swimming, playing board games and seeing the most beautiful sun rises from the East end and sun sets from the west. The 3 of us fit perfectly in her canoe and we canoed over to Milton island, a 20 minute canoe ride away. We also fished out of the canoe and caught a large mouth Bass. The weather didn't cooperate unfortunately on our arrival and departure days so it took a couple trips from the marina to the island and we ended up getting wet from the waves crashing on our way there and a sudden down pour on our way back. But Donna was lovely and we felt safe. It is impossible to describe the feeling of having a whole island to yourselves to enjoy. It was a getaway we will never forget.

  • This trip was so amazing! The cottage was a decent size and well laid out for cooking and relaxing. The upstairs was beautiful, with skylights and vaulted ceilings. Falling asleep was so easy to the sound of the waves each night. There were practically NO bugs! There are more mosquitoes in my backyard than on this island. It made for excellent camp fires at night. The kids loved seeing fireflies for the first time. Swimming and canoeing was awesome - there were a few favourite spots to get in to the water. Donna warned us about zebra mussels but luckily, there were none when we went (July). The cottage has everything you could want for your trip - games, hammock, coffee maker :) The trap door at the top of the ladder let me sleep well, knowing the kids would be safe, even if they wandered in their sleep. Just such a cool place on this earth to visit. We didn't want to leave and are hoping to return soon!

  • Great views of the lake! James was a great host supplied lots of wood for the fire which is another amazing feature of this location. Would recommend!

  • Stylish space with unique touches that add to the cottage experience. Great views and fully equipped to serve all your needs. Had a wonderful time during my stay. Would highly recommend.

  • James’ place was a perfect getaway during the winter and we hope to come back in the summer. The view from the bedroom is amazing. At night you can see the stars and during the day you have a great view of the lake. The bed and pillows and sheets were very comfortable. The place is private and quiet. The kitchen has all the appliances you need to make your meals and the entire place is very spacious with lots of counter space. There is a large smart TV mounted on the wall in the common area right next to the wood burning fireplace which was extremely cozy to enjoy from the couch. James provides lots of firewood and kindling. You can also control the heat yourself if you don’t feel like making a fire. Our dog loved the place and going out for walks on the lake and there’s more trails and parks nearby. The Cardinal Cafe in town just 5 minutes away had delicious food, baked goods and coffee and great staff and atmosphere. James was an excellent communicator, quick to respond and very accommodating. Highly recommended!

  • Great winter retreat with all the amenities of home.

    Joseph B2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay with such charm and coziness. Lots of wood for the cozy fire enjoyed after a snow shoe around the lake. The pictures of the cottage don’t do justice for the immersion in such tranquility.

  • James is a great host and the cottage is beautiful. We loved using the woodstove, sleeping in the bedroom under the stars and snowshoeing around St Georges Lake. We loved every minute of our stay and can’t wait to go back in the summer!

  • James place was an awesome weekend away - we had wanted a winter getaway and we had the most perfect weekend, it snowed pretty much the whole time we were there, it was right on the lake and has a most peaceful, beautiful view from the kitchen, living room and master bedroom. We walked/snowshoed on the frozen lake multiple times, our dog, Griffin had a terrific time as well - he loves the winter. There was a fireplace and chopped wood to welcome us back and warm us up. There was a town close by for essentials and James was very approachable and a terrific host.

  • Great location to walk to Leon's Centre, to the downtown & to wonderful restaurants. Small but well laid out. Note the only comfy chair is the desk chair. DESCRIPTION: It is rare to have private enjoyment of over 200 acres of a waterfront farm with 2,000 feet of spectacular shoreline on pristine Desert Lake. The home is fully equipped for your vacation, four seasons of the year. The home has a sleeping loft with a king size bed and one small main floor bedroom with antique double brass bed. Linens and towels are always cleaned/sterilized off-site after each visit. Open concept kitchen/ dining /cozy living area with a woodstove. The cabin is ideally suited for a couple. However, 4 people- (two couples) can be easily accommodated. Wood is provided free of charge. Extensive rear decking for outside dining in warmer weather plus a wrap around covered porch. Central heating system and air conditioning for year round comfort. Modern appliances, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, stove, coffee maker, electric water kettle, water cooler, BBQ. Unlimited WIFI access to stay connected to the outside world. Basic condiments, sugars , salt etc. etc. are provided. When staying at the log home you have access to 2000 feet of pristine and private waterfront on Desert Lake with 200 acres of field and forest for hiking and exploring. This is not a campground or resort. You will appreciate a very private time. The exclusive waterfront has a large floating dock with ladders and the water is very clean and exceptional for swimming. (During warm weather). Bring your own kayaks, canoes , boats or use ours. We have two kayaks and a canoe available with paddles and PFDs. If you have a motorized boat, there is a public boat launch about 3 minutes down the road, near Desert Lake Campground where Holleford and Desert Lake intersect. Get in the boats and explore Desert Lake, Mitchell Creek, Birch Lake and Kingsford Lake giving access by water to Frontenac Provincial Park. To access the private waterfront on the farm you can drive or enjoy a 5- 10 minute walk on a very attractive private lane. During the summer there are a few cows and horses on the property grazing on small pasture fields nestled amongst the trees. Most of the farm is pristine Canadian Shield forested terrain, interspersed with pasture. A naturalists delight. This is not a 'run out he back door and jump into the lake' setting. When it was built over 200 years ago, the inhabitants were more concerned about being close to their neighbours rather than an engaging water view. Be prepared to stroll down to the water's edge, or you can drive along the lane to park at the head of a 100 foot trail that takes you down to the 'boat launch' where a large west facing floating dock with a swim ladder is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. Four wheeling and sea-doos are discouraged. Snow mobiles are allowed when there is adequate snow, providing that operators stay on the prescribed trails. Notice is requested in advance from guests bringing snow machines. Desert Lake is one of the largest, cleanest, deepest inland lakes in Eastern Ontario. The lake is approx 4.5 miles long and the deepest spot is 232 feet. The average depth of the lake is 72 feet. Due to the cleanliness of the water and its depth, it makes for one of the premier Lake Trout fishing spots in Southern Ontario. The lake also produces northern pike, large and small mouth bass, yellow perch, crappies and lake herring. For the more adventurous, Birch and Kingsford Lakes can be accessed by a short canoe ride down Mitchell Creek. These lakes offer more wilderness oriented opportunities, like hiking and camping, as they border on Frontenac Park. Frontenac Provincial Park is within a 10 minute drive. The park has numerous hiking trails, dozens of lakes with excellent fishing and an abundance of wildlife. For more information on the park, contact Friends of Frontenac Park. Ten minute drive to Verona, where you will find banking, grocery including LCBO and Beer Store, restaurants, churches, library, medical building , hardware, Farmer’s food outlet ,convenience stores and much more. . Twenty minutes to the north are the quaint little town of Westport where you could spend an afternoon shopping. Also in Westport are two golf courses and one more can be located just north of Verona which is just 10 minutes away.http://www.rivendellgolf.on.ca 40 minutes to the south in Kingston , Amherstview and Camden East, there are several different golf courses. Thirty or more minutes to the south is the beautiful historic City of Kingston, with numerous attractions such as Fort Henry, Bellevue House, Queens University, Royal Military College and Canadian Forces Base Kingston. Please contact Magret for further information and to book your vacation rental.
This is true Canadian shield country in the "land of a thousand lakes". Kingston (population 165,000) is approximately 35 minutes away. Verona, a small town of 500 is approximately 8 to 10 minutes away for the conveniences of gas, grocery, liquor and beer outlet , farmer's food outlet, restaurants, golf course, bank (BMO), medical attention , churches, etc. The renowned Frontenac Provincial Park is less than an 8 minute drive away.

  • This cabin really takes you back in time and the way it was restored is really impressive. There is so much land to explore, even in winter, you never get bored snowshoeing around. As for accommodation, the king bed in the loft was comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped, with everything you need for cooking ans baking. The bathroom was clean. The wi-fi was really good, we also had access to Netflix and a bunch of DVD's. The communication with Margret was flawless, she responded quickly and gave us great directions to get to the cabin. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, I really recommend this place for a nice getaway.

    David2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Magret's cabin was excellent and we had an amazing time staying there. The photos of the cabin don't do it justice. There was a fire going when we arrived and a welcome gift with a note, which were all lovely touches. We used the snowshoes to walk the trails and see the beautiful landscape. Magret's local tips were spot on and we ended up at food less travelled twice! Loved staying here!

  • Excellent. We were there in a very cold night (-14) . Using warm sleeping bags and the wood stove was enough to keep us warm. Karen has everything you need to make your stay a very nice experience. We would definitely come back in the summer time Thanks

  • This Yurt is a must for any nature lover. A great way to escape the city and unwind. Although it got a little chilly at night, I throughly enjoyed my stay, and will be back again. Karen is a great host!

    Nick2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a fun experience! We had the opportunity to stay for 2 days and it was perfect. The location of the yurt is breathtaking. You can do a hike along the river and a campfire outside. The yurt was super rustic and Karen had many candles for us to light at night. We can't wait to go back in the summer and fall!

    Victoria2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The area is gorgeous and it’s perfect for a rustic experience. Karen is a great host. We arrived on a colder winter day and she took time to light the wood stove in advance of our arrival. There are also great touches like having plenty of wood to burn and snowshoes to use. Communication was easy and we were given plenty of information to ensure we had a great stay. I would go back again as well as recommend this place to other travellers.

    Chester2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to spend a cozy winter weekend!

    Connor2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved this little piece of paradise. I stayed during 0'C weather and plenty of snowfall. It was stunning. Even though I had read that they had everything I needed, I am a back country camper and was still expecting to rough it a bit and so I packed all my best "camp site" gear. Hahaha... Karen had thought of everything and I really overpacked. While the Yurt is nice and isolated in the quiet of the countryside, it is not "roughing it" unless you want to make it that way. I really enjoyed the view from my doorstep (and yes, it's true, the pictures do NOT do it justice) - I strongly encourage the curious amateurs to try some winter camping - just pack lots of warm clothes! The Yurt was so cozy and warm with the wood stove - hot teas were my staple! Even at 0'C I can see how you would need to bundle up, though, unless you want to keep waking up to add logs to the fire. Just bring a good sleeping bag or lots of blankets and you'll do well. (I brought my -30'C sleeping bag and at 0'C, and the fire out, I was just about sweating... hahahaha. Seriously, I brought my sleeping bag after reading so many reviews about how the cold was the only complaint (but not one that would keep people away), but really, the cold doesn't have to be an issue at all. When the stove is going its very warm! When it's not, just wear layers or bring lots of blankets to stay warm. I never had a problem with temperature. This was my first time here and I am definitely planning to come again soon - hoping to come in some -30 weather and really feel the snug and cozy contrast to the outdoors (that's my favourite! cuddling up by a fire stove while the blizzard rages outside). Thank you Karen for sharing your amazing place. And to all who are considering coming for a visit - do it! From booking, to check out, the whole process was smooth and simple with Karen being very timely and accommodating in her communication. And, of course, the Yurt and site buildings are kept in fantastic condition, ready for your visit!

  • We visited in the winter, and had a wonderful snowy weekend. The property is beautiful to explore, and the yurt was a cosy retreat. I loved all the thoughtful touches like candles to light the space, and slippers! If it'll be under -20, make sure to bring lots of warm layers even for inside, but otherwise the wood stove warms the space up well. Highly recommend!

Music is a big part of the culture here and outdoors festivals are continuous throughout the summer as well. For any information on these or other events we would be happy to provide as much information as we can find.If we don't know we will find someone who does:)
  • Beautiful property, lovely cabin, and wonderful hosts. Great place to unwind and relax. Enjoyed hiking, snowshoeing, and reading by the fire. Would love to experience Le Temps Perdu in all the seasons.

  • Hermann and Tracey are excellent hosts, and their cabin is fantastic! It was immaculate, warm, and perfectly cozy during our winter stay. The grounds are beautiful, as well! I would highly recommend staying here.

  • Hermann and Tracey were excellent hosts. They gave us plenty of space while still being attentive, helpful and friendly. They’re little cabin was a peaceful, cozy retreat that was furnished with everything necessary to have a wonderful self contained escape from city life and little details that made you feel extra welcome. Snowshoeing along the paths that weave through their vast property was a novel treat and the sauna was relaxing and rejuvenating. I’m already looking forward to visiting this spot again.

    Eleanor2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Hermann and Tracy's place is absolutely magical. If you need a quiet, restful escape from city life, you can stop searching because you've found it. My companion and I stayed here for two days and it surpassed all our expectations. Hermann and Tracy are incredible hosts and their cabin is filled with thoughtful touches that will make your quiet getaway absolutely perfect.

    Derek2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoy the walk in the forest, connect with the elder trees and keep your eyes open for the forest inhabitants!

    Henri2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Hermann & Tracey's accommodations were beyond our expectations. When we arrived she had a "Happy Birthday" banner and a welcome sign with our names waiting for us. This attention to detail did not end there. Throughout the trip we continuously noticed more and more things that were just so thought through; for example, the maps they had of the property to the cute slippers hanging on the wall (inside a giant slipper). The cabin itself was like a fairy tale, with a beautiful fireplace and a small bedroom nook. Hermann and Tracey were wonderful, Tracey showed us around when we first came and both would tell us the history of their home. This was by far the best Airbnb we have been to; especially because of how unique it was, and it allowed us to be removed from the city life for something more comforting.

    Nicholas2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic weekend. I was looking for a weekend away from the noise and hustle of the city and Tracey and Hermann provided that and more. The out of the way property is so quaint and inviting. The beautiful little blue cottage tucked into the trees is so picturesque. Inside. It is rustic and cozy. Everything that you need is there. There is a lovely wee sitting room and tucked in the back corner are stairs leading up to the loft bedeoom in the peak of the cottage with a lovely stained glass window. The grounds are gorgeous and it is a lovely walk through the forest to the horse paddock where Hermann and Tracey's gorgeous horses live. We walked the grounds, saw all the old trees with names painted on their signs. I have been to Le Temps Perdu before and I will certainly be returning. This is the place to go if you want to get back to basics, spend some time in the out of doors and have a rustic adventure. Absolute dream spot.

  • If you're looking for a romantic getaways, this cottage provides a great experience not so far away from Toronto. The property itself is so beautiful to explore. It's a perfect blend of wilderness and comfort. Tracey has touched up the place very creatively. Hermann's love for horses and environment is so naturally evident. The only flip side is that the washroom is a short walk from the cottage but once you enter, you would just fall in love with the view. That was a great spot for a bubble bath! I really enjoyed the fall colors in country side and now I am looking forward to explore this cottage in another season.

We're located on the waterfront. The lake is a perfect spot for boating, fishing and swimming or just relaxing on the deck watching sunsets and wildlife. It has a natural wooded area with cottages at a good distance which ensures privacy, but we do have neighbours. The lake is clean and great for swimming, fishing and water sports. The lake bottom is sandy and rocky along the shore. We're in a great location and close to many quaint historic towns. Historic Perth is home to museums, restaurants, boutiques, theatre, breweries, distilleries, coffee shops and the famous Stewart Park Music Festival. There are many waterways, provincial parks, hiking trails and mica mines nearby and many festivals throughout the area. There is a great Drive-in theatre in Port Elmsley 30 minutes away. There is several golf courses within 30 km and we've gone strawberry picking in Lanark which is also close by.
  • Cozy cabin - we thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing time by the fire, taking in the fall colours, kayaking, canoeing and even a quick dip in the lake! Great DVD selection for rainy/lazy days... just the relaxing retreat we were hoping for!

    Amy2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Wow... That is all that you're going to say after staying here. The place is beautiful but not overpopulated, simple but not basic, and very well thought out. Everything is built for an amazing kind of "couple retreat", which that have nailed perfectly. Our only regret about this whole stay is not booking for another few nights! It was not the greatest weather while we were here and we still had a fantastic time! The pictures do not do it justice, and we didn't even know that we had access to a private small beach. Would highly reccomend.

    Vincent2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • My fiance and I really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The photos do not do the cabin and outdoor space enough justice. The cabin has everything you need and is very clean. The outdoor space is absolutely beautiful, with multiple areas to sit and view the lake. We can't express how peaceful and relaxing our stay was. Lana and Mike are very friendly and welcoming. The nearby town of Perth is also very beautiful, especially in the fall.

    Jessica2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location. Friendly and responsive hosts. Private cottage with so much to do and see right there. The cabin is located high up at the top of the embankment, so has an excellent view of the lake. Private stairs and dock, with plenty of spots to sit or rest in the hammock. Spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed and bedding. Everything smells clean and fresh. The bath house is super close to the cabin and easy to get to even in the dark. The loudest noise is by the crickets. As other people have said - this place is even nicer than the photos suggest. We stayed here for 5 days and would have loved to stay so much longer.

    Lisa2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at this wonderful, bright , modern, well equipped comfortable cabin tucked away under a canopy of pine trees with Mother Nature on our doorstep. Access to boats to leisurely explore the beautiful lake was a joy. An added deck area and new shower house were both thoughtfully planned for guest's comfort and pleasure. Multi sitting areas plus hammock guarantee a relaxing spot to read. The quiet evenings and the call of the loons make this a perfect escape from the city.

    Linda2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic! Absolutely heavenly! This is a perfect getaway! Absolutely beautiful location, beautiful cabin, wonderful hospitality. The photos Lana has posted can’t even do this area justice. It’s just incredible! We spent our days on the lake in the kayaks and canoe provided and nights having dinner at the many wonderful restaurants in Perth, just 20 minutes from the cabin. If you’re looking for a getaway you have to stay here!!

Restaurant reservations strongly recommended during summer weekends.
  • Absolutely perfect. It’s amazing to walk into the loft and see the view of the vineyard, the comfy bed with its fluffy duvet, the kitchen, the TV, the bottle of wine in the fridge (!!!). This place is such a haven. It’s quiet and private and beautiful, the perfect distance from the goings-on of the winery (a twenty-second walk), so that you still have your own space to relax, but you’ve also got a cool and convenient place to go. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful, but otherwise gave me and my partner total privacy, which made it all the more magical. Loved the snowshoeing. Looking forward to going back soon!

  • The Vineyard loft is wonderful and cozy right on the winery, it is so pleasent and welcoming.. We can't wait to visit again, hopefully when it is a touch warmer though.. The bonfire did help with that though.. Lovely place, thanks John and Sacha!!

    Brent2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Such a gem! The view looking out onto the vineyard is incredible. Lots of thoughtful touches in this space and it was lovely chatting Sacha and the other Three Dog employees! A nice bonus was getting to say hello to one of the resident dogs. I highly recommend the loft to anyone looking for a little relaxing getaway.

  • My BFF and I just spent the long weekend in the loft and it was a wonderful experience. The winery is in a peaceful location and the loft is perfect for two with all the amenities required. We were welcomed by Claire who is absolutely lovely. The turkey dinner wood fired pizza was amazing. The bed was super cozy just like the loft itself. We will be back!!

    Helen2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Clean and has all you need for your stay. Personal touches like fresh eggs, all kitchen and bathroom amenities. The bed was comfortable. Right on the vineyard where you can enjoy their wine and wood fired pizza-which was outstandingly delicious with a glass of their Bacchus. Yoga and live music in the vineyard. Great company. Great place.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Taina and Frank’s place. The cottage was cozy and equipped with everything we needed. It’s located next to Taina and Frank’s own cottage but there are enough trees between that it feels very private. The dock was a lovely, peaceful place to sit and relax. If you feel like going for a little hike, take a trip to Blueberry Mountain. It’s about a 7 minute drive around the lake, and a little hike up the mountain will provide you with a beautiful view. We loved everything about our stay. We had a great time! Thank you Taina and Frank!

    Heather2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin! Taina and Frank were super friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. Would definitely stay here again.

  • We had a great time at Frank and Taina's. The lake is very quiet and secluded. Its very nicely set up to sit outside and have a fire or relax on the dock or on the porch. It's a great spot for a quiet getaway. Frank and Tania live right beside the house but they were never obtrusive and there is enough distance and trees in between the two buildings for privacy. Also if you needed anything they were right there to help. I'm sure I will be staying there again in the future

Welcome to the Mississippi River! I am still renting. If you are looking for a break to unwind look no further. Deep cleaned inbetween renters. It is quiet, peaceful and tranquil. My space is a traditional cottage that has been fully renovated with modern amenities while still keeping much of its charm. It is truly a quiet escape from the city. There is one queen size bed, one double bed and one double size pullout. Located 15 minutes to beautiful and historic Perth and a 10 minutes to Lanark.
The cottage is located in a rural area down a private road. Definitely meets social distancing requirements.
  • This is a very cute cottage by the river. Everything was perfect except that I had very little cell phone reception , so it was difficult to do any work. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed.

    Éric2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a lovely winter weekend at this cabin curled up in front of the wood stove. The place is super cozy and right on the river. Two thumbs up! We would stay here again.

    Nicole2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Log Cottage on Mississippi River was perfect for our relaxing weekend in February. The place has an authentic log cabin atmosphere. Wood stove was easy to operate and the wood was provided. The roads to the cottage were clean and well maintained. The place is about 15 min drive from some awesome restaurants in a historic Perth. Some phones might not have a full signal by the river, but you'll get the service up the driveway. Sarah was responsive and considerate. She preheated the cabin for us and gave us some great local tips. All in all - exactly the stay we were looking for.

    Dragan2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of five (kids 12-18yrs) thoroughly enjoyed unplugging on the shores of the Mississippi River. It was flowing quickly and made such a beautiful sound. The shower is hot with good water pressure and the kitchen had everything we needed! Extra pillows and blankets with lots of towels were available. There was just enough cell service to allow a quick check-in when it was a must, but spotty and slow enough to encourage putting our phones away. Loved it!

    Gwyneth2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We visited Sarah’s cottage in the winter and it did not disappoint! Even though the weather outside was chilly, the inside of the cottage was nice and warm thanks to the wood stove (which Sarah had going for us when we arrived!) It was wonderful falling asleep to the sound of the river. Thank you for sharing your cottage Sarah!

    Kyra2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing getaway experience. We spent most of the time indoors due to the low temperatures outside, but we truly enjoyed the view of the river, which is literally 10 steps away, the freshest air possible and the wood burning stove. There is plenty of wildlife in the area as well. We are looking forward to going there again in the summer time!

    Dzmitry2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location along a fast flowing river. The log cabin/cottage was super cozy. We loved hanging out by the woodstove

    Ghazal2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful and interactive experience with the Alpacas. Clean and cozy private residence with a humongous hot tub for star gazing in the snow. Personal touches in the space that just finish the look. Feeding the alpacas was the highlight of the brief stay. Lovely hostess. Highly recommend this place. Short drive to the ferry to cross over to Prince Edward County.

    Chantal2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding place, very relaxing. Great amenities, Catherine is a wonderful host!

    Rachel2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place and Cathy is just great!!! Very laid back and relaxing. The space is very comfortable and cozy. The Alpacas are great animals, they are curious and interesting guys, and Cathy is full of great info. We will definitely return!!

    Daryl2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Consider yourself lucky if you stay at this place as it is a hidden gem. It was such a unique opportunity for my family to be able to feed and care for the alpacas. The apartment had everything we needed including a kitchen, comfortable bedding and bonus snacks to enjoy. Thanks again Cathy.

    Elizabeth2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy’s place was a wonderful getaway! Exceeded expectations in every way! Will definitely come again. 😊

    Jennifer2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • I don’t know how I got so lucky to come across such a magical place. I travelled with my two dogs, and I was just so pleased with how special the entire stay was. Cathy is an incredible host, and she made me feel so comfortable, made sure that everything was taken care of, and went Above and beyond. Captain Morgan was also such a delight to meet. He and my Dogs all got to play together and it was so cute. The dog run is massive and just perfect, it’s rare to find somewhere you can take the dogs! The loft itself is legitimately perfect. So beautiful, cozy, and well equipped. It had everything I needed, and I really didn’t want to leave. And of course the Alpacas !! They are so charming. I’ll never forget when I pulled up to the house and they all emerged from the barn to peek at the newest guest. It was so special to be able to interact with them. The property is beautiful. I traveled from Ottawa so it was the perfect distance and napanee is so nice as well. Thank you so much Cathy! I’d love to come back in the summer !!

  • We had a great stay at Rafael's place. It is perfectly located for people traveling along the 401, couldn't be more convenient. At first we were a little concerned with the location of the apartment in the basement. We found out there was no reason for concern--the apartment is amazingly clean and very nicely furnished. It has all the amenities that you might need and more, microwave, refrigerator, fast internet, free parking. The apartment is also quite private. Great place to stay!

  • This space was incredible! It was clean, stylish, and had everything needed for a great weekend getaway with friends.

    Laura2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Michael’s place for our winter getaway! Very well styled, super clean, and very cozy. Great views of the lake and lots of privacy from neighbouring properties! Would 100% stay again and recommend to others. Secure this cottage in summer and you’ll be guaranteed an epic trip!

    Alyce2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place for a weekend getaway, even in the winter! Michael was super quick to respond to all of our messages and the cottage was stocked with everything we needed.

    Amanda2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just perfect for a family getaway. The place is very stylish and we loved the mix of modern and vintage pieces. The place had a beautiful outdoor fire pit and deck for lounging - even in the winter! We also loved the outdoor sauna - a nice touch for a winter stay. The secluded setting made for lovely day hikes and a ski on the lake. We had a truly enjoyable stay. Definitely would like to come back. Thank you Michael and Paul!

    Laura2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my friends (10 of us) had a great time at the Frontenac! It really is as beautiful as the pictures make it out to be, and I can imagine in summer it's absolutely gorgeous as well. We loved playing some records from the collection available. The ambiance at dinner time was that much more perfect. Beds were very comfortable. The space was large enough for all of us to be together at once, or to split up and not feel crowded. Although, if we had been 12 adults, it would've been very tight for eating and sleeping arrangements. Sound definitely does carry easily inside the house (difficult for those needing to sleep earlier than others). Michael made the check in super-easy and was incredibly responsive. The location is great - we did not get to explore Frontenac Provincial Park but went to a different conservation area for cross-country skiing. The sauna is amazing and the view of the lake is beautiful! I hope I have the chance to return again one day! Thank you Michael for your help while booking and during the weekend!

    Camilla2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Frontenac was more than I expected! Beautiful decorations, plenty of space, lots of games and things to do. We had the best time and would definitely come back.

    Jayne2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place was everything we were hoping for and more. I had booked with my friends, 12 adults a toddler and 2 dogs. First off, let me say that the entire home is incredibly beautiful and very comfortable to stay in. The kitchen belongs in a magazine and the main floor bathroom was incredible. We spent 2 nights there and had absolutely no reason to leave the property other than to walk the dogs. We played some intense games of ping pong, watched some pepper pig on netflix and followed that with a horror movie. The place has many areas where you can escape a large group to find some solitude but also many spots to gather round and breakout some board games. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and hope to come back in the summer some time as I imagine it's incredible then as well. Big thank you to Michael for replying within the hour and being such a great host!

    Vinoth2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was a fantastic cottage! Great space for a large group and it has everything you could need. The host was responsive and helpful! He even unlocked the house remotely when we locked ourselves out! Planning to return again soon.

Just renovated top floor apartment. Large bedroom, kitchen, living room and private bathroom. Lots of storage as well. The house is located on 10000 sq ft of property in a great central neighbourhood. Easy walks to Queens, hospitals, city Center and waterfront. Lots of parking and on bus route.

Where there is 100% privacy. We have stocked the kitchen with everything you need to cook your own meals. As well, we are 5 mins away in case there is s specialty item you request. The apartment has Bell Fibe high speed unlimited internet. With Netflix already set up on TV. We also try to stock fridge with a few of the essentials. Milk, juice, yogurt, creamer, cereal, bananas and the occasional beer ;)
The neighbourhood is located in a quiet and prestigious part of Kingston. Close to Queen's, hospitals, downtown and waterfront. 10-15 walk will get you anywhere with in the core. Or just a couple if you want to utilize the bike lanes in front of house. It's also very easy to get to from 401(1 left hand turn).
  • Super clean, warm and a lot of towels. Also they recycle! Thanks you guys for a nice stay.

    Amanda2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • The room is very good and clean. I heard voices and laughter downstairs in the middle of the night. I could hear them upstairs. Except for a little noise, the room is very good

  • I was passing through Kingston for work and this was a lovely comfortable place to stay. Jason is quick to respond and very kind. Would stay again!

    Gabby2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Sparkling clean. Warm. Comfortable. Check-in/check-out was a breeze. Quiet. And while I didn't get to take full advantage of them, excellent amenities (i.e. fully functional kitchen, Keurig etc.)

    Julia2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The upper level apartment was absolutely amazing and exceeded our expectations. It was close to the university and downtown, very clean, and Jason was easy to communicate with. Check in was extremely efficient and there were several nice touches including Netflix, Keurig, and a guide book with multiple suggestions for anything you might need in Kingston. Cannot express how much this place exceeded expectations. Such a great stay!

Peaceful setting on Stafford Bay. Great for fishing, canoeing, kayaking or just relaxing in the hammock. You can explore the Rideau Canal from Jones Falls to Upper Brewers without locking through. We have 2 canoes and a 2 seat Kayak which you are welcome to use. You can launch your boat from the Main docks at Seeley's Bay or rent one from 2 local marinas.
The cottage is cozy but very functional. We have supplied all the dishes and cookware that you will need and have allowed for storage in the kitchen for your personal supplies. There is a supply of herbs and spices for your use, as well as an herb garden right off the deck. Linens are supplied. Bath tub with shower. The hot tub is there for your use, we monitor and adjust the chemicals for every booking. Washer and dryer are there for your use if needed.
We are on a private road with a maximum speed limit of 20 km /hr We do ask that you respect this limit as there are small children enjoying their properties and exploring the wonders of nature. We are at the end of the cottage road so traffic is minimum, making it a great place for long walks down the road.
  • Procrastination bay is the perfect place to relax and unwind! The scenery is beautiful and peaceful. We loved the coziness of the cottage and the hot tub was an extra bonus. Julie was super lovely to communicate with and the added touches she put in really made our stay extra special. Would highly recommend this place to get away and disconnect from city life.

    Emma2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Julies cottage and hospitality far exceeded my expectations. It was dark when we arrived and to wake up to such and amazing view and location was breathtaking. We definitely plan to return to enjoy the peace and tranquility again. Thanks so much. Mike and Leah.

  • This is the second time we’ve gone to Procrastination Bay. Everything was wonderful, despite the weather being all rain. A quiet solitude away from city life.

  • A lovely, secluded cottage in a gorgeous location. Julie and Andy are extremely organized and have put a lot of effort into making the space a warm and inviting one with lots of special touches. Very comfortable and relaxing!

  • An amazingly beautiful place - so quiet and peaceful! We especially enjoyed the hot tub right outside the door!! Julie always responded quickly, the cottage was clean and comfortable, the views were better than expected!!

    Joy2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cozy place in a serene and peaceful location. Julie was very accommodating and easy to coordinate with, even late at night when an unexpected family emergency had us arriving much later than expected. We wish we had had more time here to get out onto the lake and do more exploring. Would definitely come back :)

    Holly2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Procrastination Bay exceeded our expectations! A little piece of paradise! The tranquility of the surroundings was exactly what we wanted. Great outdoor space. Dogs had a great time swimming and playing in the yard. Kayaking was great! The cabin offers everything you need and the hot tub was amazing!! We will define back!

    Jael2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Julie is the most helpful and friendly host I’ve ever received. Establishes a decorum of polite and engaging conversation to help with any assistance necessary, as well as aiding guests by leaving clear guidance and directions throughout the cottage. She is a super host for a reason. The cottage itself was immaculate upon arrival and the scenery that surrounded it exceeded expectations. Not too mention the beautiful towns and cities nearby that made for a great adventure aside. Highly recommended staying at her procrastination bay.

This spacious and bright 1-Bedroom Apartment is situated on the main floor in a beautiful historic designated neighborhood of downtown Kingston, called Sydenham Ward. Minutes to downtown and Queen's. Please look up our weekly and monthly special pricing.
The apartment has lots of character, including a fireplace (non-functional), exposed brick wall in living room and original hardwood floors throughout. The living room has a comfortable couch with two reclining seats, entertainment unit and a desk. The bathroom has a romantic functional claw foot bathtub combined with a showerhead and vanity. The tub might be difficult to enter as the tubwalls are higher than in a modern bathtub. The bedroom features a comfortable Queen size bed, a seating area plus closet space and dresser. Ceiling fans in living and bedroom space provide ample airflow together with the large windows. There is an additional floor model fan as well as a space heater for guests to use. The kitchen is well equipped with dishes and has a full size stove with oven, refrigerator with freezer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and a blender. There is also a dining table with 2 chairs adjacent to the kitchen. For your safety, the building has a Fire Alarm System, Carbon Monoxide Detector and Smoke Alarms.
Sydenham Ward was designated as a historical neighborhood by the city of Kingston in 2013. There are historical plaques found on many buildings, for example across the street where Sir John A. Macdonald lived.

  • I have stayed at Romy’s place a few times and have booked in for more weekend stays over the next few months. Romy’s place is exactly as pictured, with a cool interior brick wall, super-high ceilings, claw foot bathtub, and all the amenities one would need. Communication is great, the place is always very clean, and the flat itself is quiet and fantastically located - about a 1/2 kilometre to downtown and a 10-15 walk to the main Queen’s campus. Thanks for another great stay, Romy!

COVID-19 Update: Thank you for your interest in the Cozy Waterfront Granny Suite listing! Rental listings have been blocked at this time to follow the social distancing guidelines advised by Federal and Provincial governments. I look forward to unblocking dates and accommodating your booking requests as soon as we get through this global situation. Please note that if I have missed any dates I will only be accepting bookings if this crisis is over.
Your private waterfront lakeside suite offers a holiday that combines the best of both worlds; the hospitality and charm of a bed and breakfast; the experience of cottage life; and the complete privacy of your own fully equipped apartment attached to our home. Our attractive lakeside suite has a wonderful view of the lake from your private deck. As fall turns to winter the sounds of the loons on the lake give way to the howls of wolves and coyotes in the distance and the hoot of owls in the forest. Your private waterfront apartment has it's own bedroom with dressers, a closet, and a double bed; a living room with comfortable couches and a TV; a full ocean theme bathroom with a stand up shower and an old fashioned original vintage claw foot bathtub in the bedroom; a full kitchen with a fridge and freezer, table and chairs, a microwave/convection oven, toaster, 2- element hot plate, a small George Foreman grill, Kureg coffee maker, a crock pot, and access to a portable propane BBQ. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, pots and pans, cutlery, dish soap, and salt & pepper. Complimentary morning coffee and tea with milk or cream is provided. We also provide fresh bath towels, bed linens, and toiletries. (You are welcome to bring your own sheets etc. if you prefer). There is free internet access and a TV with a DVD player and large movie selection but no satellite TV. Please note that we also offer an interesting continental breakfast of local specialty foods for an additional charge - inquire at time of booking. If you are traveling we have everything you will need and we are glad to help out if you have forgotten anything!
This all Canadian picturesque location is "off the beaten path" and offers a private waterfront vista in a typical "cottage country" setting surrounded with natural beauty. It offers the best of both worlds with access to endless under an hour interesting road trips; is only 15-20 minutes away from the historical towns of Perth, Carleton Place, and Smiths Falls; and we are only 45 minutes to Merrickville and Ottawa, the Nation's Capital. Feel your stress melt away as you make your way to the end of a picturesque 1.5 kilometer nature filled private cottage road lined with split rail fences that winds it's way through a "mini boreal forest" and is home to deer, bears, wolves, coyotes, beavers, rabbits, hawks, and owls. The property is situated on a private point with a spectacular panoramic view of Mississippi Lake from the deck of your private suite and access to the lakefront and surrounding woodlands for hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, ice fishing, shoreline bonfires, and if conditions permit skating. Please note we are also 45 minutes to the Rideau Canal in Ottawa; the world’s longest skating rink. Lanark County is a beautiful and scenic world heritage destination and offers the best that country living has to offer close to a large city center. Of course our favorite local town is Perth set on the Tay River connected to the Rideau Lakes and Canal system. It is picturesque, has a rich history, and is home to impressive heritage stone buildings built by Scottish stone masons that house shops, specialty stores, restaurants, museums, flea markets, and three live theaters. Perth has just hosted filming of 2 CBC miniseries and has been voted the most beautiful town in Ontario many times over as well as the best place to retire in Canada by Chatelaine magazine. Our location also offers under an hour access to endless Lanark County winter destinations that include Calabogie Peaks ski resort, the K & P hiking and snowmobiling trail, cross country skiing at Murphy’s Point Provincial Park, Timber Run Golf Course, Wheeler’s Pancake House, and the Mill of Kintail, and one of a kind shopping in Perth, Balderson, Westport, and the popular Kilborn’s on the Rideau at Newboro. I am a huge fan of the area having moved here from Ottawa over 20 years ago and can help guests with info on the area and recommendations. I also provide extensive brochures and maps on local attractions in your suite. For more information (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Lanark County Tourism and the Seven Wonders of Lanark County. You can also email me for up to date info on local activities at the time of your stay or if I can answer any questions you have before you book. WINTER ACTIVITIES Local winter activities include: * Marked snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and hiking trails through the forest at your doorstep. * Less than an hour to the Nations Capital and the longest skating rink in the world on the Rideau Canal. * Brunch at the popular Wheelers Maple Sugar Bush Pancake House in MacDonald's Corners featuring log building with real stone fireplace, maple syrup museum, farm tool museum, and farm animals including llamas. * Great restaurants, shopping, micro-breweries, and artist community in nearby Perth voted prettiest town in Ontario many times. * The Good Food Tour - every weekend in nearby Almonte, ON * Ice fishing, lakeside bonfires, stargazing, winter bird feeder watching. * Winter activities at nearby Murphy's Point Provincial Park. * Option of downhill skiing at Calabogie Peaks and Mount Pakenham.

This is a secluded vintage two-bedroom cottage located in 7 acres of land buffered by a 25 acre nature preserve. There is a private swim / picnic area with dock and gorgeous sunset views. Great for swimming, fishing, or relaxing in nature. Kingston, Ontario, is 30-40 minutes away by car. Seeley's Bay is ten minutes away. Melody Lodge is a walk away and provides boat rental, bait, and ice-cream for the family. A canoe is available (free) to explore the beautiful lake.
The cottage has a huge screened-in porch, which is great for family dinners or just soaking in the views. Plenty of wildlife to be seen. The single beds in one room convert to a king-sized bed. Check out The Rest, which is down the road and also a great place to stay.
There are two other cottages on the property, but all three have a great deal of privacy.
  • My wife, 8-year old son, and 6-year old daughter and I (plus our dog...a 10-year old sheltie) stayed at Elbow View the week straddling the end of July/start of August, 2019. Overall I have to say we had a fantastic time. James and Anne were absolutely fantastic hosts. They were both very quick to respond to questions or to fix minor issues (e.g., when we first arrived the water wasn’t working, we told Anne and then Jame’s fixed it immediately (it was back on in less than 10 minutes)). They were both extremely friendly and their daughter spent a lot of time playing with our kids. The cottage itself is a bit rustic; however, that is not necessarily a negative. In my case it is a positive as it is exactly the type of cottage I like to stay at (I.e., as opposed to a ‘house’ that happens to be in the woods and on the water). It has a huge screened in porch with a large table and seating for 16 (and more chairs would fit). We spent a lot of time hanging out on the porch and ate almost all our meals out there. Down by the water there is a great fire pit area. It reminds me of the type of fire pits with a dock and a canoe in the background that you see in magazines as a ‘typical cottage experience’. There was also a small sandy beach area that the kids really liked playing at. The dock at Elbow View was ideal for the kids to fish for pan fish (they practically just had to drop a hook with a worm in the water and they would within seconds catch a small blue gill or rock bass). There was a canoe and paddle boat and Anne and James offered us use of their kayaks (which we didn’t end up using but the option was certainly there). A ten minute walk from the cottage is Melody Lodge where I was able to rent a 14’ aluminium boat with an outboard motor. The kids and I went fishing in it once or twice a day and I was able to moor it at the dock at Elbow View. Just down the driveway there is another cottage (also owned by Anne and James) with playground equipment (monkey bars, swings, climbing wall, zip line, ninja line, and a kids club house with a slide). Our kids loved hanging out there. There was also tons of wildlife (deer, raccoons, porcupines, wild turkey, otter, swans, geese, and squirrels). There is also a family of beaver that we kept our eyes open for but never did see them. At night we could hear coyotes howling in the distance and owls hooting in the nearby trees. There were a couple of minor negatives. The stairs leading down from Elbow View to the fire pit/dock area are a bit steep. There are hand rails so we were all able to navigate them fine but if someone has mobility issues this would not be the cottage for them. Second, the area out from the dock was a little bit weedy (it kept me from using my favourite jerk bait lures right off the dock as they would get caught in weeds if cast out too far) but the area right next to the dock was free of weeds so it did not detract from going in the water for a swim (off the end of the dock the water depth was about five to six feet deep). Neither of these things bothered us. In a nutshell, if you like things a little bit rustic (without being too rustic) I highly recommend staying at this cottage.

  • This listing offers an amazing cabin-in-the-woods experience. The place is absolutely beautiful which includes the trees, the wildlife, and the lake. The lake is very well stocked with fish. We really appreciated the private access to water and the chance to explore the lake on the canoe (provided). The listing includes a large screened and roofed patio. With the shadow of the trees and the gentle breeze, it was very useful for the hot summer days and evenings. I am looking forward to a return visit, potentially to explore a different season.

  • We had a great long weekend stay at Elbow View! The cottage is very private and quiet, and had everything we needed away from home. Although we didn't meet the hosts, they were very friendly and helpful in their quick responses. We were able to rent a boat from Melody Lodge (a short walk from the cottage) which allowed us to do some great fishing and explore the lake. Would definitely recommend this cottage!

    Emilie2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, and very private location. We used the kayak, canoe and paddleboat provided (a nice surprise!) to explore the lake and were blessed with good weather. A very classic, basic 60s/70s cabin – we liked the old school charm. Thank you for having us!

    Heather2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely space, very relaxing!

    Jessica2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Elbow View is an amazing space on a beautiful, private corner of a small bay. The dock is a wonderful place to spend a day enjoying the peace and quiet. The cottage has everything you could need to prepare meals, is filled with an amazing assortment of books, and the screen porch would be wonderful with a large group or on a rainy day. We loved that we could bring our cats and have a true family getaway. While there is no internet, that serves as a positive, as there is cell service and you can otherwise just escape for awhile. This place is a gem. Overall, we loved our stay here and will be back as soon as possible!

  • Brought our family of 5 here to get away from everyday life. We fell in love as soon as we got to the cabin! We all feel well rested! This place is clean and comfortable. The location is magic and serene!

A breakfast basket is delivered to your door on your first morning. Then, take off in one of our kayaks or a canoe or hike the K & P Trail. Later you can stroll into town for dinner at the pub. Or perhaps you would prefer a steak cooked on your own BBQ. Windswept Cottage is the perfect combination of privacy and town convenience.
This wonderful cottage has a magnificent loft that overlooks the lake. Curl up with a book or watch a movie. The cottage has a washer/dryer for your use. There is a fire pit with wood provided and a BBQ on your deck. We have bikes for you to enjoy the K & P Trail which is right across the road. We also have snow shoes to enjoy the trail in the winter.
There is a wonderful cafe - The Cardinal Cafe, within walking distance, where you can grab a coffee and wander down to the public beach. Saturdays from May until October there is a farmer's market 9 - 1 down on the beach!
  • A beautiful, calm space, with all the amenities you could ask for. Lesley’s breakfast basket was a lovely treat!

    Adrian2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful lake front property! We stayed there over a weekend in the winter and it was stunning. Bruce and Lesley are extremely kind people and best hosts I’ve had thus far. It’s definitely a place we’ll be returning to.

    Jeremy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley and Bruce’s space and hospitality are second to none! The cottage is perfect for a cozy weekend away from the city. We walked the KP trail, had delicious coffees at the Cardinal, we stargazed from the frozen lake and just relaxed in the comfort of the cottage. The added touches, wine and beer at arrival and a breakfast basket the first morning just added to the wonderful stay. We’ll definitely be back, as soon as we can! Thanks for everything, Lesley and Bruce!

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley and Bruce are the kindest hosts. They responde quickly to any question and are very attentive. The home is exactly as described, clean and so comfortable. They provide anything you might need for your stay and our winter escape was very cozy, definitely going to come back in the summer!

    Laura2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cottage for a quiet winter getaway! Lots of hiking nearby on the Kennebec trails and the nearby lake -- the snowshoes make for quite the experience! Close to the delightful Cardinal Café -- a must try! Bruce and Lesley make every effort for a pleasant stay.

    Tasos2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley and Bruce are incredible hosts - they went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Definitely staying here again!

    J.2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • An incredible Airbnb experience. Thoughtful hosts, beautiful cottage and some sweet wildlife in the area.

    Sam2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lesleys place is a gem. Situated near the Sharbot Lake town , it was great to walk into town easily to check out the cafe and shops. The trans Canada trail is also across the street, which was great to take our pup Apollo for a 5km hike! The place is very clean , well supplied, and Lesley made it even more amazing with a breakfast basket! As some mentioned, it is near the road so it may not be “secluded” as some think but you can’t beat the view of the lake on both sides. Will be back in the future !

NOTE: For winter camping, depending on weather and road conditions, you may have to hike or snowshoe up to 1.5 km to reach the yurt. This is a real backwoods experience! Our camp is a private, 350-acre wilderness on a 35-acre lake (the first of the Lingham Lakes system in Frontenac County). Less than 3 hours from downtown Toronto, and less than 2 hours from Ottawa. Only 30 min. from Bon Echo Provincial Park. Enjoy your stay in a huge all-season 32-foot diameter yurt with wood stove.
Located in the rugged Land O’ Lakes region of Eastern Ontario, our camp is a private, 350-acre wilderness, on the first of the Lingham Lakes in Central Frontenac Township, County of Frontenac. (Please note this is not Lingham Lake in Hastings County, north of Madoc.) We offer a rustic, but comfortable camping experience, in a large, fully insulated yurt, just steps away from the large, private, frozen lake. Activities include hiking or snowshoeing for kilometres through the woods or down the lake, chopping firewood, relaxing by the woodstove, toasting smores at the lakeside firepit, and enjoying a cozy evening stargazing through the domed skylight. A winter paradise! IMPORTANT NOTICE: Do not walk or snowshoe on the river, lake, or ponds. The ice is often very uneven and could be extremely dangerous. Please note there is no water and no electricity. The trails are not suitable for ATVs or snowmobiles - no off-roading allowed on our property. Also, hunting is not allowed anywhere on the property.
If you need food or supplies, travel 30 minutes south on County Road 15 (also known as Arden Road) to the village of Tamworth. There you will find a grocery store, pharmacy (open weekdays only), bank (CIBC), hardware store, LCBO, post office, and several places to eat, including a bakery, diner, and cafe.
  • We had a fantastic weekend at the yurt. It was the perfect place to get away and enjoy the quiet, snow, and stars. The yurt is spacious and clean and Karen and Phil were both incredibly helpful and responsive. If you are looking for a quiet getaway in the woods this is the ideal location. We are looking forward to coming back!

    Chris2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed two nights in the yurt in mid-February, and it was a completely magical place for snowshoeing and reading in front of the wood stove. Karen and Phil were very quick to answer even the smallest question, and helped us out with our car in icy conditions. The yurt itself was super cozy, well-situated, with very comfortable facilities. This was my first experience staying in a yurt and it has made me want to come back very soon!

    Laura2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great way to spend the weekend and time with your loved ones. I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

    Vanessa2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend at Karen’s yurt. The hosts were truly a quick message away and the location was amazing. We loved snowshoeing on the lake and hiking in the local forests. It’s a great time.

  • Charming, well equipped, unbeatable panoramic view of the lake. Can't beat the sense of place and location.

    Terence2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A really quaint and cosy cottage. Everything you need and a fireplace to boot. Just a short walk to the town centre and right on the lakeshore.

    Craig2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Really great stay, while a bit hard to find at first once you do, it's really amazing, and so beautiful to have all the windows to look out onto the lake. Very cozy, and comfy, great wifi, super clean. I will say, the bed is a double not a queen, as some other reviewers had mentioned. Otherwise everything is awesome. We even had some bad weather on the first night, and it was a great haven from that.

This cozy, newly renovated basement apartment in Kingston's Kingscourt neighbourhood comes with a well stocked kitchen, Wifi, a 42 inch flatscreen tv with Roku, and laundry. A two minute walk to the bus stop makes getting downtown and to Queen's quick and easy. Otherwise, either spot is a 25 minute walk from your door. Probably not ideal for a romantic getaway, but a great spot for anything else. Heads up! We've got an adorable toddler. We've installed sound-proofing. It's good; not perfect.
The entrance to the basement suite is at the back of the house, off the deck. The suite is downstairs and to the left. Feel free to use the deck and BBQ as you please. My partner and I live upstairs with out 8 month old daughter. The sound proofing does a reasonably good job. We've asked and guests have said they've not heard the baby much but they do hear some footsteps. It's a really cute basement apartment.
Kingscourt is a quiet neighbourhood of small circa 1940's-50's war-time housing. It's friendly and safe.
  • Excellent hosts, with great local suggestions, clean space, and easy access to transit that leads downtown. Recommend for short or longer stays.

    Stephanie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • My sister and I stayed at Paul’s place for one night. Paul is very quick to reply, public transit is so close and gives easy access to downtown ( about 25 min.), the apartment was very clean and comfortable, a spot in the driveway was important to us and the kitchen included everything we needed. I would recommend Paul’s place.

    Wendy2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Paul’s home was perfect for my quick visit to Kingston! The place has tips and recommendations listed on this very sweet board. Everything was super easy to find and the place was really clean, stylish and cozy. It’s located in the basement of his home but you would never feel that way, the internet connection was great- especially since I worked remotely. All in all a great place to stay and would definitely recommend.

    Sharyne2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Stay was great. Entry was easy. Loved the multiple kitchen appliances and well-stocked kitchen and bathroom. Coffee/tea, other condiments, and some personal items such as shampoo and hair dryer were available. Communication with host was easy and prompt. WiFi and Roku/Netflix easily available. An information board had lots of local food and entertainment suggestions. Just a large number of small personal touches in the suite. Compared to some other reviews we found the space to be quite comfortable temperature wise but a space heater was available if we had wanted it. Some low ceilings to be aware of if you're over 6'2". Overall, a really great experience. Also worth noting that we felt safe here. We'd definitely stay here again in the future.

    Vincent2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Thoughtful touches and a cute little space. We weren't around a lot but appreciated Paul's quick responses to questions as well as accommodating me when I forgot something so that I could pick it up.

  • Get ready for a unique experience you won’t find anywhere else. This yurt is authentic as they come, and has amazing details and touches. Maureen has added her own flare of decoration that creates a unique ambience. Property is very nice with several waterfalls close by to look at.

    Chris2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Maureen is very nice and involved, but still leaves you space to enjoy the yurt. It was ideal for me to have a break from my journey Montreal-Toronto, would have loved staying longer. Don't leave before seeing the waterfalls near the yurt which are beautiful !

    Sarah2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • This stay was absolutely amazing. Maureen was very accommodating and she helped us in every way possible. For camping, the yurt was very comfortable, even in negative temperatures (given you keep the fire going). We’re not expert campers or have stayed outside in the winter before but Maureen gave us great tips and made the whole trip comfortable and fun. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking to get out of the city or just to try something new.

    May2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Expect magic and whimsy (and maybe even a faerie sighting or two) at Maureen's beautiful yurt, as well as from Maureen herself (to be honest, I think she's a faerie incognito 🧚‍♂️!) Thank you Maureen, for everything ❤

    Mina2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience staying in a beautiful, peaceful space. The yurt is truly something special. Maureen went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and was a joy and an inspiration for creative living. Would go back in a heartbeat.

    Madison2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Maureen’s yurt. It’s cosy and quirky and great value compared to provincial park yurts. We loved stoking the fire to stay warm and waking up to fresh coffee left by the door. We highly recommend and hope to visit again soon. Katie and Ron XO

    Katie2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Maureen's yurt experience was great. It's an awesome place for a quiet retreat, simple and relaxed living and trying new things. She had great recommendations for places to visit in the area and treated us with hot coffee every morning.

  • Amazing place to stay. Maureen is an amazing host and an awesome lady. Was like staying in a little piece of heaven. Stress level was at an all time low when we left and the morning coffee every morning was the icing on the cake. Highly recommend.

Completely renovated 1940's Lakeside Cottage on beautiful 13 Island Lake, literally steps from the water. Perfect for a romantic getaway. 1 bedroom and open sleeping loft, kitchen with all the amenities, spa bathroom with soaker tub and separate shower. Explore the lake by canoe or cuddle up on the covered porch and listen to the loons.
Our Name is Czychun, but Tucker's Place has been a landmark on 13 Island Lake forever. Long standing residents of South Frontenac know the property as Tucker's Place and we honoring local history by keeping the name for our cottage. Completely renovated 1940's Lakeside Cottage, and by lakeside we mean exactly 25 feet from the lake shore, dock , canoes, water craft, swimming dock and crystal clear water. Enjoy stunning sunrises and sunsets while listening to the call of the loons on the dock or one of two decks. And although we can just about provide everything you need, sometimes rain must fall. In that case, simply curl up on the covered porch and watch the rain gently fall on the beautiful waters of 13 Island Lake. We renovated this cottage with you in mind. We enjoy the peace and quiet of 13 Island Lake daily and having spent most of our lives in the busy city, we know how much you need this cottage to unwind and rejuvenate. We have provided all or more than the comforts of home, including a completely outfitted kitchen overlooking the lake, a bathroom fit for a spa with a deep soak bathtub and a separate shower, a hotel style bedroom with private views of the woods surrounding the cottage, or a cozy sleeping loft. Open concept kitchen/ cozy living area and lovely main floor bedroom, both with electric fireplaces. The cabin is ideally suited for a couple. However, 4 people- (two couples) can be accommodated. PLEASE NOTE: We have opened the cottage up for the month of Oct 1-16th. The dining area is located on the screened in porch. The cottage is compact inside but we will supply something in order for you to dine inside if the nights are chilly. PLEASE NOTE: The cottage is ideal for a romantic getaway for two and has a main floor bedroom, however, there is additionally a queen bed in the open sleeping loft. The loft has low peaked ceilings, is accessible by stairs and is surrounded by wrought iron railings. The cottage is located at the end of a private lane and although the cottage is nestled in the trees, we are located just down the lane to provide you with anything that you may need, to make your stay-cation perfect. You are also conveniently located just 10 mins from Verona and 40 mins from Kingston, although you just might not want to leave ever! As you can see from our photos, the cottage is located directly on the waterfront and you have easy access to the lake to swim, fish and explore by canoe. We have a canoe available with paddles and PFDs at no extra charge. Please remember to take the lifejackets and emergency water kit in the canoe with you. PLEASE NOTE: The cottage is located to the right of a naturalized marsh with beautiful water lilies and other flowering vegetation that makes this a haven for wildlife such as turtles, frogs, blue herons, kingfishers, bald eagles, osprey, beavers, bass. perch, sunfish, etc. Due to an exceptionally hot spring, early summer and nesting bass, the lakeside is a little weedy starting about 6 feet from the sandy shore. The water is only about 3ft at the dock. The swimming platform is located in deeper water and flotation devices or canoes can take you there easily for swimming. Fluffy Bath towels, beach towels, comfy bedding and plentiful pillows are provided. If you are staying for a week or longer, additional towels and bedding will be provided. The best part of visiting a cottage is outdoor living and balmy nights. We have provided wood free of charge for the outdoor firepit and ask that when you are finished, to ensure that the fire is completely out before going in for the night. 2 outside decks and a covered screened in porch provide areas to enjoy the outdoors. The screened in porch does not have close-able windows. The cottage is heated and the main bedroom is air- conditioned. Modern appliances, including microwave, fridge, stove, coffee maker, electric water kettle, water cooler, toaster and Weber BBQ are there for you to enjoy. There is a Flat screen 40inch TV with complimentary Netflix account set up and ready to use. We do provide Satelite Internet for the cottage. Please note that it is not unlimited and we ask that you practise fair use by not downloading multiple movies etc. You can of course use the internet for normal activities like browsing, emails, Netflix etc. Most cell phones have excellent service at the cottage.
You are also conveniently located just 10 mins from Verona and 40 mins from Kingston, although you just might not want to leave ever! You can also access the public beach on Desert Lake. We are located close to Frontenac Provincial Park and Rivendell Golf Course.
  • This space was beautiful and was such a welcome retreat from busy city life. It had all the amenities of home but with the perfect cottage feel. Patti and Rob were excellent hosts with thoughtful welcoming gifts. I would highly recommend a stay here. Hope to be back again next season!

  • Great location with all the amenities you could wish for - we loved canoeing around the lake and seeing the amazing autumnal colours - Patti is an excellent host and made sure we had everything we needed.

    Geoff2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • When my husband and I were planning a weekend away last year (2018), we were looking for something very specific. It had to be secluded (if we could see neighbours, it wasn't secluded enough), romantic, luxurious yet comfortable (without feeling like someone's home) and on water. Oh, and within our very limited budget. I honestly thought we were looking for something that didn't exist--the unicorn of cottages--but then we found Tucker's Place. We fell in love with it the moment we walked through the door, so much so that we booked this year's getaway (2019) while we were still there. This year's stay was every bit as wonderful as last year's, and we have every intention of coming back next year.

    Laura2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay. Right from the start we were welcomed. Loved the experience and the local treats. The view was amazing. Next time we will definitely stay longer. It wasn’t long enough.

  • We had such a great time at Pattis place. The space is beautifully designed with all the thoughtful extra touches that make you feel welcome. We had the lake practically to ourselves and had great fun taking the canoe out.

  • Had a wonderful relaxing stay. The cottage was so much more than we were expecting. So clean and cozy. Patti is so welcoming. She made our stay extra special with all the thoughtful treats such as s'mores kits for our evening bonfire. Wine for a nice relaxing evening. And fancy soaps and bath bombs for a relaxing bath in the large spa tub. We felt so spoiled. We have already recommended Tucker's Place to family. We are planning on staying again next summer.

    Veronica2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Patti is the ultimate host. Quick responses prior to arriving, directions and local suggestions for last minute supplies were crystal clear. The place was absolutely perfect with thoughtful touches all over the place. It was sparking clean, and we had everything we needed for a weekend away from the city. Patti checked in with us right away, and made sure we had everything we needed. The location was quiet from all other cottages and perfect to relax and enjoy the view from the dock. We will be back!

  • Mim and Ron were great hosts. They were very accommodating, friendly and provided many helpful tips. The apartment was exceptionally clean and very well appointed. There are a wide variety of restaurants and shopping centres within walking distance. There is easy access to downtown Kingston either by car or bus. The bus trip takes approximately 25-30 minutes and delivers you right to the heart of the city. The bus stop is about a three minute walk from the apartment. We had a wonderful stay at Mim and Ron's and would definitely stay there again on future trips to Kingston.

    Scott2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Ron and Mim! I booked this as a Christmas present for my parents who went to Kingston to watch the Brier. They said Ron and Mim's place was incredible, very clean and spacious and lots of additional amenities (popcorn, tea, coffee). They would definitely return again!

    Ryan2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I stayed at Mim & Ron’s place when we first moved to Canada and it felt like our home away from home. I was very homesick and Mim offered so much support. Mim & Ron were very kind, thoughtful and generous. They are amazing hosts! The Airbnb itself was clean, warm, cozy, and beautifully decorated with Ron’s art. It was very comfortable and safe for small children, we have a baby and a toddler, which Mim kindly provided toys for my two year old to play with. They also helped out with our apartment hunting and kindly offered us very useful and helpful information that helped us settle in Kingston. TRULY AMAZING PEOPLE! 🌸 We highly recommend staying their place.

  • Amazing in every way!

    Lori2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Ron and Mim's place. This place is located quite close to the restaurants, shopping mall and bus stop. We felt like home here! Mim and Ron had decorated the place quite thoughtfully and had all the things one can look for in a home. The place looked better than the pictures shown on the listing. It was very clean. They had a beautiful fireplace as well. Mim was really kind to us and gave a tour of the city and even helped us shop for warm clothes. Ron is a metal artist and invited us to his studio where we were awed by his creativity and his art collection. Our stay with Mim and Ron was a beautiful experience. They are the coolest hosts. I would highly recommend a stay at this place.

    Khushboo2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, plenty of room, great amenities, fantastic decor.

    Jake2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was completely spotless, very spacious and well appointed. Large bedroom with one of the most comfortable beds we've encountered to date. Beautifully decorated with Ron's fantastic metal art. Ron and Mim were very welcoming and friendly - even offering us to join them for dessert when we arrived. Ron will happily chat about Kingston, and give guests lots of local tips and info, if they are interested. If you have the time, definitely talk to Ron about taking one of his metal art workshops! We did, and it completely made our trip. Thanks, Ron!

I was having some apartment envy while there! Eric did a great job providing all of the necessary information for our stay, and made us feel very welcome. If heading back to Kingston, we would absolutely stay here again.

  • Ian and Trichia's place is everything you could want from a place to stay in Kingston - great communication, hosts who clearly care about your experience, a very good location, good value, and a lovely, clean space. The extra touches like super comfy beds, breakfast foods in the fridge and extra blankets and space heaters for cold nights are just icing on top. This was right up there among my top airbnb experiences out of about a dozen so far. Thanks again, Ian and Trichia!

    Tara2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation was amazing. Very spacious and comfortable. I loved the historic features of this home. The “breakfast” provided was super generous and the coffee yummy. I totally recommend staying here (except not on the weekend when we want to come back!)

The perfect year round getaway! Book two consecutive nights and stay between Nov 1 - April 30 and receive the third night free! Nestled on an island in the Salmon River, you'll make memories in this very unique cottage-like suite. With private entrance & patio at the river's edge & waterfalls, a one of-a-kind ambiance awaits you. Full kitchen & year round outdoor hot tub. Boats & bicycles provided from mid May-Oct. 30. 6 min from the 401, 2 hrs from Toronto, 10 min to Prince Edward County.
WE ARE PRACTICING ENHANCED CLEANING AND DISINFECTING DURING COVID-19. In an early 1800's stone mill sits on an island in the Salmon River between two one lane bridges. A waterfall on either side, weeping willow trees swaying in the breeze, the river alive with wildlife and gardens full of flowers completes the picture. Our Mill property has two suites for rent. If this space does not have suitable availability, please check The Country Suite: https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/1534440?s=9qT66WsK Our mill is located in the very picturesque historic hamlet of Lonsdale which has been the subject of many artists and photographers. Come and be enchanted in our converted limestone grist mill on an island in the Salmon River . AMENITIES: The space is elegantly rustic with many custom features, original mill artifacts and eclectic and antique touches. The full kitchen features a 1930's porcelain sink brought from the mill owner's house, an antique dish cupboard, antique oak counter originally from the Kingston Whig Standard Newspaper office and custom cut granite. The bathroom boasts a vessel sink and a custom tile and limestone shower with glass sliding door and oil rubbed bronze fixtures. There are two comfy reclining chairs for watching t.v. in the sitting area and large limestone window sills in the three windows which look right out onto the river and waterfalls. The bedroom area is a cozy space with a custom made farmhouse queen size bed, a memory foam mattress, fine linens, an exposed original limestone wall and an electric fireplace for extra coziness. The television is on a swivel and can be viewed from either the bedroom or the living area. Original hand-hewn beamed ceilings and original mill doors as well as other mill artifacts adorn the space. A private patio with a Weber barbeque, fire pit and a dining area complete with cushioned, swivel chairs is situated right outside your door at the water’s edge. SELF CATERING: This is a self catering rental as we do not provide meals. The full kitchen is equipped with pots/pans, cutlery, etc; everything you'll need to prepare your own meals indoors or outside. We do provide you with coffee, tea and coffee cream and encourage you to bring some food with you to start out as there are no grocery stores in the immediate area. (see: the neighborhood) SPRING AND SUMMER AT THE MILL: The Miller's Retreat suite is situated right at the river's edge with a patio by the waterfalls for dining and relaxing. Kayaks, a canoe, peddle boat and touring bicycles are all available free of charge to our guests from mid May until Thanksgiving and a riverside hot tub under the stars is available year round. A Provincial Parks Pass is also complimentary with a guaranteed one day minimum use. The pass may be available to you for more than one day if you stay with us longer than 2 nights. With waterfront on three sides, you'll likely want to spend some time on the river. It is usually high and quite fast until May and then quietens for relaxing paddles or peddles throughout the summer months until fall. Enjoying nature is the main occupation here. Watching birds and wildlife beside the waterfalls, paddling up the river, or touring the countryside by bicycle can really eat up a day. You can also enjoy a refreshing swim in the waterfalls and pick some fresh organic greens from our vegetable garden to complement your meals. A waiver must be signed prior to using the facilities due to the inherent dangers associated with being near the water. It is the river that gives this place it's magical vibe and brings the wildlife in abundance for our pleasure. Bring your camera! Great Blue Herons, Song Birds, Eagles, Otters, Beavers, Muskrats, Geese, Ducks, Swans, Turtles, song birds and many others are all happy to call Lonsdale home or stop by to say hi. You never know who is going to drop by next. The grounds are full of flowers and birds and the sound of the waterfalls makes this an ideal spot to just kick back and enjoy. FALL AND WINTER AT THE MILL: During the fall and winter months enjoy the outdoor all season hot tub under the stars by the river and waterfall. If the pond is frozen, bring your skates, snowshoes or cross country skis for fun right outside the back door. There are also several nearby cross country ski locations and walking trails, first class performances at Belleville's Empire and Kingston's Grand Theatre and many other seasonal attractions in our area during the cooler months.
We live in the tiny hamlet of Lonsdale. There are no stores or services in the immediate area. The closest town is Deseronto, 15 minutes south. Groceries can be purchased in Napanee, a 20 minute drive east at either, No Frills, Metro or Walmart, Picton has three grocery stores or Belleville to the West has several grocery stores.
  • So happy with our stay. Beautiful location. Can’t wait to visit again.

  • This was the perfect place for a relaxing weekend getaway. Exactly as described, it was an absolutely beautiful location and the suite had everything we needed. There were plenty of tips/guides provided for local attractions, but we found it hard to tear ourselves away from enjoying the space. Thankful for the experience and hoping to return when the weather is warmer!

  • Exactly as advertised and reviewed, what a great spot to stay while visiting family in the area. A bit off season for watercraft and swimming but we’ll be back to try that. Our hosts were wonderful and ensured we had a nice time and everything we needed, Thanks Again!!!!

    David & Cheryl2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing, gorgeous, relaxing, comfortable place to stay. There is some Internet, but the connection is spotty - as they do warn you - so don’t plan on bringing work with you. ;). Plan on relaxing and enjoying the sound of the river right outside your window. All the basics are there, everything you need to cook & everything you need for coffee and tea. So many wonderful suggestions for area restaurants and wineries and things to do. I would definitely stay here again. Jerry and Suzy are wonderful, welcoming, couple hosting you. The drive into town is only about 20 minutes so you have the best of both worlds being away from the hustle and bustle, but still pretty quick access to that hustle and bustle if you want it. You are also right there next to/within Tyendinega Mohawk territory so you have access to craft stores too

    Tammy2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment was the perfect little spot for a weekend getaway! Beautifully decorated especially if you have an eye for antiques and reclaimed pieces. The property is picturesque. The kitchen was equipped with everything I needed to make a beautiful meal, the shower is exquisite, the bed super comfortable and the hosts are beyond sweet. We also enjoyed a wonderful hot tub! Great spots are just a short drive away. We are already planning to go back!

  • Carolyn and Steve are amazing hosts and their place is just stunning!!Unfortunately, we could only spend one night in their house in the woods, but it was the most comfortable night out of our 5 day trip. Steve and Carolyn warmed the house with fire and prepared electric blankets for us! We had a very cosy and warm night! The view is breathtaking! I would definitely recommend that place to anyone who is seeking for get away from busy city! Thank you a lot for the fantastic accommodation and hospitality, dear Carolyn and Steve!

  • My stay was Oct. 23-25, and I can only repeat wholeheartedly all of the praises that previous guests have heaped upon the Rock Ridge Retreat, and Carolyn and Steve. What beautiful people, and top-notch hosts they are! It takes very special people who have kind hearts and faith in the goodness of humans to open up their space to people unknown, and C and S have exactly those. The Retreat was sorely needed by me at this time (for rest and songwriting), and the solitude and beauty around me didn't disappoint. In fact, as others have said, the photos are very accurate, but the reality is even more wonderful! As I navigated my way into (and out of- a comedy of errors on my part!) the canoe, Steve was there to help me with both. Such a good and nice man. They offered tons of local info and tips on the stay in the cabin, and both helped me with my bags as well, since the short path to the cabin is rocky and a bit tricky (removing wet leaves from the path may help prevent a slip the next autumn around). And what a gorgeous log cabin it is!! I actually shed tears of pure joy at walking in (after my hosts had left, of course- kind of embarrassing!) This was a bucket list check-off moment for me- being in a log cabin in the woods. They've both provided every big and small thing you would need (food notwithstanding, but coffee and water, yes) for a rustic and restful stay. There was lots of wood for a cozy fire in the wood stove, candles on the mantle, tons of warm blankets and pillows, etc. My only observation was that the hotplate was in need of a bit of a cleaning, so I gave it a soapy wipe down. Otherwise, the cabin is lovely and clean. The rate was competitive and affordable, as well. I kept thinking that I wish I had had a couple more nights there! Knowing my hosts were nearby was great for peace of mind, and yet it was private and quiet enough to feel secluded. The views out of the windows are breathtaking, especially at this time of year. I don't hesitate to encourage all to visit the RRR to see for yourself. Thank you so much, Carolyn and Steve, for making people in need of beauty and space (like me) so happy. I was inspired to write a song (while there) about this magnificent spot- the lyric is done, and when the music is, as well, will get it to you both asap!

    Patricia2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • This location is idyllic! The pond and hike is gorgeous, the cabin is incredibly cozy and comfortable (the woodstove is easy to maintain and keeps it beautifully warm), our hosts were perfect, offering support as needed but allowing us the space and privacy we were looking for. We've been here twice now, would absolutely recommend it and look forward to returning in the late Spring!

    Jess2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Little Paradise in the Woods. The place is simply awesome and has everything one needs for relaxing couple of days. Right next to the cabin are some trails in the beautiful nature and you can even use a canoe to discover the pond. Carolyn and Steven are amazing hosts and put a lot of effort into making your stay as comfortable as possible.

    Alexander2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Carolyn's house is located in a beautiful spot. The house is very cozy and Carolyn prepared a chimney fire for us so that the house was nice warm inside when we arrived. Carolyn was very attentive so we felt really welcome at her place.

Our whole detached home has a cosy cottage vibe in the heart of the city. It is close to nightlife, public transport, and family-friendly activities. We are animal people, so well behaved pets are welcome too! Please understand that our home is a clean, comfortable, affordable option. It is in a bit of a student-y neighbourhood. For those looking for luxury, there are lots of other (pricier) options available. Otherwise, have a great stay! Driveway parking for one car.
Open, airy and fully equipped. The two bathrooms help to ensure everyone has their privacy. Please note, we provide a new tv, internet and and an hdmi to connect your laptop. There is no cable, but there is Netflix.
Located in the gentrifying Williamsville area of Kingston, the home is within walking distance of "the hub" downtown and Kingston Memorial centre park. There are lots of students in the area, and it is a fairly busy part of the city.
