Places to stay in Galveston
Room #1 - double bed, private bathroom. This room includes an en-suite european style wet-room shower. It's located on the first floor near the kitchen. *Please do not stay in this room if you are a late sleeper or a light sleeper. There will be guests drinking coffee and perhaps chatting in the morning close enough that you can hear them. The house has central AC; however there's a supplemental window unit in this room which drowns out any noise. A twin rollaway can also be added.
The house is an 1894 victorian with multiple guest rooms. It has the feel of a small European style hotel as it's simply decorated with an interesting collection of antiques and vintage furniture. It has shared bathrooms with the exception of one room located downstairs. **Message me if you are looking for a private bath and are having trouble finding the listing. It has a large communal kitchen and plenty of common areas to hang out. You’ll love staying here because of the laid-back atmosphere, the free (to borrow) bicycles, and the awesome guests who fill up the house.
The house is located in the very charming east end historic district, so it's surrounded by beautiful Victorian architecture. It's a short walk to Post Office district and the Strand. It's a half mile to the beach. You can grab breakfast just 2 blocks away at Mosquito Cafe, Patty Cakes, or Sunflower Bakery, all on 14th street. You can also walk downtown for dinner or a show at the Grand Opera House. It is a generally safe neighborhood, and walkable to nearly everything so you can leave your car parked, and enjoy some fresh air during your stay.
  • My bff and I decided to take a quick mini vacation and found this home. Let me say this, the photos do not do this home justice. It is simply breath taking. When walking in, you feel as if you have stepped back in time. Everything you could want is at your disposal, and the backyard is simply stunning with the hamocks and swings. Everything is super clean, I will definitely be coming back to stay with my husband. Excellent host, I rate my stay as 11 out of 10...it was that awesome!

  • We had a great time in Galveston, the place is nice and Miranda was great in helping us find our way around and suggesting things to do.

    Robert2015-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great house in a great neighborhood with easy parking and lots of restaurants in walking distance. It is a safe 15-20 minute stroll to the downtown/Strand area - great for barhopping. We were only staying one night and made last minute reservations but Miranda was great about sending a message so we knew how to get into the house and which room to go to. The mattress/comforter/pillows are so nice but I wouldn't recommend this room for anyone over 5'9" - the footboard is high and delicate. We had very little direct contact with Miranda but only because we were hardly there. We would absolutely stay here again. My only regret is that I didn't get a chance to play with the cat.

    Amber2016-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • As we only spent one night at Miranda's we didn't get to enjoy it all as we would have liked. The house is beautiful and in a very nice and safe neighbourhood. Beach and restaurants/bars in walking distance. Communication with Miranda was easy. We definitely recommend Miranda's for your time in Galveston.

  • We had a wonderful stay with Lynn and her family! The room and bathroom were impeccable and the breakfasts were terrific. It was our first visit to Galveston and our first cruise - and Lynn was incredibly helpful. We had originally booked two nights, but Lynn facilitated a third night for us when we arrivied early. She was also gracious enough to drive us to the cruise terminal and pick us up to here when we arrivied back. Being able to leave our car behind was a big plus. Being first time cruisers, Lynn offered us great advice and assistance. We look forward to our next visit!

  • The BEST place to stay!! Lynn and her family are SO nice and they made us feel at home! They are AMAZING hosts! Lynn made us DELICIOUS breakfast! GREAT location and close to everything! We are going to stay with them every time we cruise!!

    Kris2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second visit. I was in town for business but the hotels were full from Hurricane Harvey. Making arrangements thru Airbnb and staying at Lynn's place was an unexpected joy. These folks are super and I hope to see them again.

  • Lynn was a great host and the room was perfect!

    Jeremy2018-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We can not say enough great things about Lynn's place ! They made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. Lynn is an amazing host, who went above and beyond for us. She was so helpful in telling us about activities on the island, places to eat and anything else we wanted to know. Their home is beautiful, comfortable and inviting. Lynn is also a wonderful cook !! BONUS

  • Hands down this was the best decision I made picking this Airbnb location- this was my first time doing an Airbnb- I will definitely choose this place again when I return to Galveston- Your hosts for this place makes sure you are really taken care of- lovely people and home!

    Natalie2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn was such an outstanding host. She offered many local tips that were very helpful during our stay. The bedroom and bathroom were both very private and made us feel comfortable. The house is so close to the beach and other popular areas that we never had trouble finding something to do. There is not one thing I would change about our stay. Thank you Lynn and Jimm for helping to make our trip so amazing! :)

    Madison2018-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn's place was excellent! She was very hospitable. As soon as we arrived she made us feel at home. She offered us something to drink and gave us a tour of her home. The home was beautiful and very clean. We had everything we needed and then some. The conversation was great! She recommended several places to check out during our say. We took advantage of some of her recommendations and they were amazing! She even made us breakfast in the morning! Which I have to say was better than the breakfast I've had at restaurants. I cannot praise Lynn enough for her hospitality and awesome company! Thank you so much!

This is a sweet little room in a multi-room bnb. The home is a circa 1894 victorian in Galveston's East End Historic District. It is a short walk to downtown. There are two full baths shared with 3 other guest rooms. This room has a twin bed & desk.

  • This place is perfect! Amazing host, wonderful house, historical authenticity -- the combination here is really unsurpassable. The stay is especially enjoyable if you want to be around Galveston's architectural jewels and see the city's legacy up close. Galveston is very blessed to have Miranda, and I'm really thankful to have experienced this place that exemplifies the spirit of the bed and breakfast.

  • Great host. Great experience!

    Tammam2015-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in Miranda's house for one night only. It was meant to be sleepover on the way to Austin. However it exceeded all expectations. Upon arrival I got invited to join a large dinner with all the guests of the house followed by wine songs around campfire in the back garden. The house itself is absolutely beautiful. Plenty of character. The room is pretty modest but then it is exactly what it says in the description. Overall a great stay.

    Darius2016-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful historic house, I absolutely loved the back patio and even though it was hot, the fan made it bearable. The decor was awesome, the hammocks, swings and the lights made it so inviting. The shower upstairs was so unique, I loved the blue marble type floor.

    Lea2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • A great BnB experience. The house was incredible. Lots of great furniture and decor. Hammocks, tables, and chairs in the covered back patio. The amenities were amazing. Oatmeal, fruit, coffee, and juice in the morning. Bikes and beach chairs for use. And the host was friendly and welcoming. I also really enjoyed having the opportunity to meet other travelers staying in the house. A perfect place.

    Michael2016-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • I decided to travel on the same day I arrived. The room for a single traveller was perfect. Simple and comfortable. Miranda was able to accommodate with the short notice. Loved the back yard hang area. I borrowed a beach chair one day and one of the bikes another day. Really good restaurants just a couple blocks away. Miranda has a very welcoming place. She knows the ins and outs of Galveston, is very intelligent and cares about her guest's comfort. Really enjoyed my stay. Thanks Miranda!

  • Miranda was very welcoming and sent me a text to let me know exactly what to do to check in--I was coming in late so this was much appreciated! Cute house, very well-kept, quiet neighborhood, and quiet guests. Great place to stay in Galveston.

The Schaefer Haus is a bed&breakfast centrally located in the Historic District. Only four blocks from all the restaurants and nightlife of the Strand. We offer six beautiful rooms, all with their own private bathroom.
  • Great house. Great Room. Great Hospitality. This was our first ABnB experience and it was surprisingly easy all around. I walked to the Strand mid afternoon and enjoyed it. When we went back in the evening we drove just because it was too far for my wife to walk in heels, but if you’re casual it’s an easy walk. We only stayed one night as we were in town for a wedding but would definitely stay there again if we ever needed an overnight stay in Galveston again.

  • Our stay in Galveston was great - hospitality and attention to detail was welcomed after a long work week - the owner has integrated modern conveniences within a historic home including bath, television, and wifi - there are great local Cafes within walking distance and the art walk was a very vibrant local scene - the street was quiet and safe and easy access to roads to the bayside and seaside - as a long time visitor to Galveston I will recommend this location to colleagues and family

  • We had never stayed in an accommodation with a room and bath before (just a whole apartment or house) but we took a chance on a busy holiday weekend. Lynn’s house does not disappoint. It is stylish, not in the least beach kitschy, very tasteful. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was great and private, the house was quiet. Lynn was a very kind host and we enjoyed our stay very much. We would gladly recommend to others and stay again sometime.

    Daniel2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • I went to Galveston for a seminar and I wanted to stay close to Moody Gardens. Lynn's house is less than a five minute drive there so that's one of the reasons I picked her place. The other reasons were that she offered breakfast and the price was very low. Her house is brand new and it's sparkling clean. I stayed in one of the spare bedrooms and I had a full bathroom all to myself. Lynn gave me a key to her house, so i could come and go as I pleased. First off, I'll say that Lynn is a sweetheart, such a warm and friendly person, and she's a very good cook and makes good coffee and she's an interesting, educated person who's a good conversationalist. The room had a very comfortable bed, cable tv and furniture for your clothes. The bathroom is fully stocked except for a toothbrush. Her husband Jim makes good ice tea and you can use their fridge if you want to go to the store and buy your own food. All in all, I was very pleased with all aspects of my stay there, especially when I talked to my colleagues who stayed in local hotels. They paid a lot more and they didn't have it as good as i did at Lynn's house. I'd like to stay here whenever I return to Galveston.

  • This is a wonderful place to stay! The hosts are very nice and accommodating and the rooms are clean and comfortable. You're within a short distance of Moody Gardens as well as the Seawall, Strand and historic district. If you are visiting Galveston, this would be a great choice!

    Scott2018-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn was such a great hostess! She told us where to go to get some great eats, told us the best beaches to go to and even let us borrow some beach equipment that otherwise we would’ve had to have spent tons of money on! Breakfast every morning was wonderful and we had some fridge space too for drinks, sandwich stuff, etc. Lynn is the sweetest lady and her home was so amazing! Private bedroom and bathroom and only minutes from some awesome Galveston beaches. If you like shared living stays, you will LOVE this place!

  • Great location! Absolutely beautiful mansion with a lot of history. Great host on site (Dunne). It's still under renovation, but it was a pleasure to be there. Fresh towels, clean rooms, coffee, water, and wine in the "dining room". The grounds are beautiful. We'll definitely stay there again!

This is my 1928 furniture store. It's been converted to an event room with pool table, bar, movie theater projector. Included on the second floor is a three bedroom apartment with 4 beds to comfortably accommodate 7 people. The area could sleep a few more people if needed.
Greatest neighborhood ever! I love going for walks here and meeting new people. You can hear live music down here almost any night of the week and the restaurants are the best!!! Whether it's Mardi Gras or biker weekend, Galveston is always a good time!
  • Had a gathering of about twenty to 30 people and we all had a great time. The place was spacious and relaxing. Justin was awesome and very helpful. Super cool guy! We've already started discussing our next visit.

    Wayne2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Justin we needed a new feeling in the air an your place was awesome!

    Zachary2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place. This would be perfect for a bachelor/bachelorette party, or just a group of friends. Excellent location, within walking distance of The Stand, bars, restaurants, and shops. Justin gave some great recommendations on places to go. The place is a work in progress, so it will only get better with time. Nonetheless, great stay and will look to stay here again next time in Galveston.

    James2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Justin was awesome. Bent over backwards for us, and made the stay great. The place was HUGE! Great spot for a bachelor party or when events are going on in Galveston at the Strand.

  • Justin was a great host, very friendly and accommodating. Great house for large groups and a short walk to night life.

    Karl2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • My family enjoyed our stay. Justin was a wonderful host, very helpful when we had questions. We enjoyed having the pool table. We had 14 people and still had plenty of room. 7 of us had the bedrooms, the rest slept downstairs on air mattresses that they supplied. Just bring your own sheets and blankets for those. There was a small refrigerator upstairs but no kitchen.

  • Great!!!

    Phill2018-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay overall was pleasant. The historic house was a fun place to stay with lots of old memorabilia laying around to find interest in. Our host was very welcoming and didn't seem to mind that we would be coming home in the middle of the night from the wedding we came in for. The host making breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and fruits for us was a nice bonus. Air conditioning wasn't the best and we had a guest that struggled with allergies during the stay (cats, dust on the fan blades), but overall it was an enjoyable stay.

    Firoze2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed there 7/2/16 to 7/4/16 for my friend's wedding that holiday weekend. Ellen was an awesome host. She greeted me at her front gate like she said she would. She was very pleasant & I felt very welcomed as her guest. The listing description was accurate as the way she posted it here on Airbnb. The neighborhood was great too; lots of historical homes on that main street. Her home has a historical charm to it. I definitely enjoyed all the antiques and the years of history on display in her place. The room I stayed in was clean and neat. I definitely enjoyed her breakfast that she provides for her guest. Too bad I'm gluten sensitive and I couldn't enjoy her pancakes but I can tell they're really good. The only 2 things that I found to be somewhat challenging were 1) the parking situation since she's located on Galveston's main busy street (Broadway Ave). Since I was out very late both nights I stayed there, all the parking spots in front of her place were already taken up by the other guests and I had to park further down the street. 2) the shower stall was very small and tight and there was only that one inside. I'm not a very tall & big guy but it was still somewhat claustrophobic for me in that shower Lol. But I got over both of challenges and definitely enjoyed my stay there. I definitely recommend her place, the price was great value and I would definitely come back there again if I have stay in Galveston. Thank you Ellen!

    Tobias (Toby)2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at Ellen's place. I'm here for work and it's a decent distance from both the hospital and the beach. I walked everywhere and there are a few places to eat within a 5-10 minute walk. The only thing that may not work for some people is that the bedrooms are up a flight of stairs/ 2 flights from curb to bedrooms. So, if you are older or for some reason can't lift heavy luggage or something upstairs, it's something to keep in mind. It worked out fine for me; but, for my mom or some others, it would have been a concern. I loved the bedroom and having a bathroom right outside my door. Ellen made me feel comfortable and welcomed me home everyday after work. I will miss staying with her and her adorable cats (especially Izzy who I fell in love with). Izzy all but cured my homesickness with her cuddles and affection lol. Thanks again Ellen for a great stay =o) I would recommend her place to anyone visiting Galveston!

    Jamie2017-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ellen treated us very well and we will be rebooking again :)

    Jesse2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • It seemed like Ms. Ellen had great intentions but there were some things on the hospitality side that made myself and my guest uncomfortable. She kept tabs on us a lot, she told us that we were taking too long in the shower and she left out "valuables" that were thought to be for use. Not only did she let us know in a very rude manner but she spoke very condescendingly the whole stay. She even tried to come in our room while it was locked. She made it clear that she didn't want us to leave the property as we pleased. She wanted us in for the night at 9pm. We would have had no problem finding another Airbnb but there was no curfew stated on the listing. The passive aggressiveness shown was very off putting. However the property was beautiful but it could have done without all the cat hair and old hardware i.e. door knobs and handles that don't work properly.

    Luke2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really cool historic home. It's centrally located in Galveston so it's an easy drive to anything on the island. What I liked best about the property is it was clean and no bad smells. I've stayed at many hotels on Galveston over the years and they typically don't smell fresh due to the beach, pets and lack of proper cleaning. Ellen is also a great host. I would highly recommend this place if your looking for a clean quite place to sleep, shower and then get on with your day.

    Brandden2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ellen is a very sweet woman living in a beautiful home that she works really hard to take care of. The breakfast in the morning was incredible both times, and Ellen does a lot to make you feel welcome. She is sweet and thoughtful and fun to have conversation with, but respects your privacy as well. She has a total of 3 rooms, and one has a smaller bed, so make sure you get the room size/bed appropriate to you when you book. We would certainly book with Ellen again if ever back in Galveston for the future!

  • The Pelican's Nest is the perfect retreat from the city or a visit from out of town. There is something for the entire family. The wrap around porch offers a cool breeze and views of a bird sanctuary for bird lovers. You can view the pelicans dive for fish while you swim in the pool. It is a short drive to the Kemah Boardwalk where you have lots of fun, dining, and shopping. A full breakfast was served that was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, all while being able to view the bay. Kelley and John were extremely helpful and friendly with everything. There is lots of history to be enjoyed in the house and the area. Our room was spotless with fresh flowers and fresh baked cookies on our arrival. We hope to be back again soon!

A very romantic getaway with excellent amenities and a very secluded feel. You must experience it for yourselves. Don’t hesitate to book unless I am going to again. • Beautifully renovated home that captures the location perfectly. The hosts were gracious, extremely comfortable bed, and fabulous breakfast spread.

  • Seabrook is a quiet place to relax and enjoy and get away from it all. We stayed 3 nights in the sunrise room which was amazing! We were welcomed with some treats and in the sun room was a nice coffee and tea station.. the room was spacious and the bathroom had wonderful jets for a hot bath!the bed is high and I recommend using the foot stool in the closet. The sunrise from your bedroom window in the morning is spectacular and only matched by Kelly breakfasts! The attention to detail and personal requests was so wonderful. We are ready to come back again! Her recommendations were spot on. And we loved staying here. You will not be disappointed. We have stayed at many BnB before and this was the most enjoyable. Thanks again!

This room has one double bed, shared hallway bath. Sitting area, wardrobe and dresser in room. A twin size rollaway can be added to the room for a third guest.
The house is an 1894 victorian with multiple guest rooms. It has the feel of a small European style hotel as it's simply decorated with an interesting collection of antiques and vintage furniture. It has shared bathrooms with the exception of one room located downstairs. (Message me if you are looking for a private bath and are having trouble finding the listing.) It has a large communal kitchen and plenty of common areas to hang out. You’ll love staying here because of the laid-back atmosphere, the free (to borrow) bicycles, and the awesome guests who fill up the house.
The house is located in the very charming east end historic district, so it's surrounded by beautiful victorian architecture. It is a short walk to Post Office district and the Strand. It's a half mile to the beach. You can grab breakfast just 2 blocks away at Mosquito Cafe, Patty Cakes, or Sunflower Bakery all on 14th street. You can also walk downtown for dinner or a show at the Grand Opera house. It is a generally safe neighborhood, and walkable to nearly everything so you can leave your car parked, and enjoy some fresh air during your stay.
  • This was perfect for a quick one night trip in and out of Galveston, easy and efficient best describes our experience. Miranda has thought of everything for a great stay. The house, itself, is beautiful and meticulously redone in the original style, the details are fabulous!! You cannot go wrong staying here, and it is convenient to everything and parking was a breeze. We totally enjoyed our short visit!! Janee

  • Miranda is so wonderful and her house is fantastic. Cozy, clean, safe and comfortable, walkable/bikeable to downtown yet quiet and peaceful at night. We loved sleeping with the windows open to get the sea breeze and had a great time getting to know Miranda. We will absolutely stay here again when we visit Galveston.

  • I loved Miranda's place! I had a nap in the hammock. Wonderful bathing in the shower with both rain and handheld shower heads. And the room was nice and light with interesting decorations. Definitely first on my list of places to stay if I end up back in Galveston.

  • Miranda made us feel very welcomed. Whenever we needed or wanted something, she was very helpful. The photos of her house on the website are very accurate to what we found. The neighborhood that the house is located in is awesome. It allows you to have feel the rich history of Galveston.

  • Miranda's home is a lovely gem. The location is great and she is very attentive. Not to mention the beautiful historical neighborhood close to the strand and beach. I highly recommend staying here.

  • Miranda was very personable. She shared some great info about the history of her home and the community. The bikes provided allowed us to expand our exploration. Also liked the location for walking downtown.

  • We had a wonderful weekend in this historic tastefully decorated Victorian house. Miranda was a perfect hostess, very welcoming and attentive. The location is perfect, within an easy walk to the Strand and a few blocks to Seawall. We’ll definitely stay at Miranda’s next time in Galveston.

  • Our host, Miranda, made us feel very welcome. She offered us oatmeal in the mornings with coffee and tea, and even had a cake that she baked for everyone to enjoy. The listing is exactly as described, if anything it was better. The neighborhood was safe, quiet, and close to everything. The home is fantastic, and decorated in such a fun way. I can't wait to come back and stay. I am going to recommend her place to anyone staying in Galveston.

    Brandi2016-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Miranda was a wonderful host! She worked with our arrival and departure schedules. She immediately made us feel welcome by showing us around her beautiful home and getting to know us a bit. The place was fantastic and we felt very comfortable. Bonuses: awesome historic neighborhood, games and books, oatmeal+fruit+coffee for breakfast!

    Lindsay2016-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Miranda was a great host at a great place! The gorgeous house is located in a cute, safe, historic neighborhood- within walking distance to both the beach and downtown. Miranda greeted us a check-in and gave us advice on events and restaurants in town and was available if we needed her both in-person and through messaging. The bed slept great and we never had to wait for an empty restroom. Coffee and oatmeal was provided in the morning, the serene backyard being a great place to enjoy both. We'll definitely be back and hopefully for more than just a night, I have intentions for the backyard fire pit and grill next time!

    Natalie2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Miranda's place was so nice and full of charm. We absolutely loved the Victorian look and feel of the house. Quite a few things to do (eat) within walking distance which was awesome. I would definitely recommend staying here if you like unique homes.

This room has a french style double bed, and a shared hallway bath. There is a sitting area, wardrobe, and a dresser in the room-- lots of antique furniture. A twin size rollaway can be added to the room for a third guest. It has high ceilings and east facing windows. It has a ceiling fan and a key lock on the door. It has wooden blinds to block out the light if you're a late sleeper. We call it the "Willie Nelson" room because of the poster on the mantel. Hopefully he'll stay here someday.

  • Best bang for the buck in all of Texas. It's a historic home with lovely common spaces, including a living room and kitchen along with 6 rooms available to rent. Some have shared bathrooms which were kept nice and clean. My wife and I had such a great time that we are now planning a family reunion trip there in the future where we plan on booking the entire house for a weekend with several family members. Miranda is a kind, top notch, professional host. I feel like we now have a home away from home in Galveston. No hotel could even compare to the family warmth we received during our stay. Thanks Miranda, for being even better than advertised.

  • Miranda was super cool! The we stayed in #5, which was perfect for me and my bf. There was fruit and oatmeal/ coffee downstairs in the morning too. It' was so cool to stay there for a night :} It is really close to downtown, and she has bicycles you can take with you to ride, which made our night there so much fun!

  • We stayed at Miranda's the night before we boarded a cruise. Even the short time we spent their was a vacation in itself. The house was gorgeous and our room was nice and comfy. We loved how the community style breakfast allowed us to meet Miranda and other people staying there. We would love to come back and stay longer sometime!

  • Ellen was a great host, and her home is fascinating! She was very responsive to communication before our arrival, met us at our convenience, and provided us with a great experience in her home. A unique home that is 100+ years old was definitely a selling point for us. She made us a delicious breakfast in the morning as well. Would recommend her to anyone.

    Christopher2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Ellen was a great host and very accommodating. The place is so unique with many different antiques to look at. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic and Ellen did everything possible to make sure our stay was great!

    Tara2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ellen was very nice and allowed us plenty of privacy. I knew if I needed anything, she would be right across the hall. We stayed in room 1 with our toddler son. Loved the cozy bedroom and balcony. Our son got a bit loud at times but I felt as if he was not a bother to our host which is important to any parent. We had ease of booking our room at last minute for a spontaneous trip. I loved Ellen’s cats; they gave me a sense of home as we have 2 inside cats and 1 outside. Nice and quiet stay. Honestly perfect for a little family just trying to enjoy a weekend together. Ellen’s blueberry pancakes were so tasty and good quality coffee. I felt safe and comfortable in the house, as the front gate stayed locked. So did the front door and on Ellen’s profile it states she’s a former law enforcement. I get a sense that Ellen enjoys sharing her treasured home and showing off it’s neat history. This is somewhere we would potentially stay again. This was our first Air BnB stay and it did not disappoint. Thank you Ellen and thank you to the kitties for also sharing your home with us.

    Chelsea2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time renting a private room vs the whole property, so we were a little unsure what to expect. But Ellen was a great host, very accommodating, and made an awesome breakfast. The room was very nice and we lucked out by getting a balcony room. The bed was comfortable and we slept well.

    Ann2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ellen's home had a lot of charm with huge rooms and antiques. The room I had room #2 in addition had a lovely private balcony on the 2nd level. However you have to share one bathroom with 3 other rooms on the 2nd level. The house too could use a good dusting. Also there were many empty old bottles of shampoos, lotions, etc in the bathroom as well as in the outdoor shower which lock needs to be repaired. The home also faces a major thoroughfare so traffic is loud, bring earplugs. It was however a good value and breakfast was a plus. She has 2 indoor cats and 3 outdoor ones too. Getting in and out of the house also was challenging as the gate sticks and my key only worked at the back door.

    Lynn2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The house is right off a main street and easy to find. We came a little earlier than anticipated and Ellen let us in and showed us our room and gave us the key. The whole process was very low key and simple. The house has a few rooms which were occupied by other guests when we went, and there is one shared bathroom with a shower, but another bathroom upstairs with just a tub. Our room was cozy and comfortable and Ellen made sure to ask us if we needed anything at all. Breakfast was delicious as mentioned by other guests. Definitely a nice place to stay at if you're in Galveston. We would come back again!

    Micah2015-07-13T00:00:00Z

  • I highly recommend staying with Ellen! She was so kind and her home was amazing. I really enjoyed all the antiques. There were interesting artifacts everywhere! One thing I loved was how comfortable the experience was. I felt like I was at home with family. My friend and I were celebrating her birthday and came in late and woke up late for breakfast. Not very considerate, I know. And yet, she still had breakfast warming for when we did get up. The yummiest pancakes and bacon and strawberries with sugar on top! I'm so happy we stayed with Ellen. Soon I'll bring my husband so he can see what I've been talking about since I got home!

  • Ellen was a warm and generous host; she met us at the gate with our keys when we arrived and showed us around her home. The house itself is stunning--a relic of the Victorian architecture from the early 1910's or 1920's, I think. Ellen has a great collection of seashells, old cameras, antique telephones, and Victorian furniture throughout the house. Best of all (and most appropriate for Galveston's history!) is a portrait of Teddy Roosevelt that hangs in the hallway. The house is large and comfortable, even with other guests staying. It's also quite close to the beach, the Strand, and other restaurants on the island. Ellen's blueberry pancakes certainly live up to the hype, and we were fortunate to chat with Ellen and other guests during our breakfast on china in Ellen's very nice dining room. Unfortunately, we were forced to cut our visit short due to inclement weather on our route home (we stayed one night instead of the scheduled two), but we will definitely be staying with Ellen on future trips to Galveston.

  • We had a wonderful stay with Ellen! The house is full of characters and has a very homey feel to it. Ellen was very transparent with us, there was a lot of clarity in our communications and breakfast was even provided in the morning. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that's looks for a homey Airbnb with a great host and a unique atmosphere!

  • Super central. Basically the same distance from the house to everything. Loved the place. Ellen is so nice!

  • Come one come all! Very easy going, comfortable place to stay. I just kept extending my stay. Perfect for anyone looking for a centrally located, safe haven that's easy on the wallet. Did I mention that Ellen cooks up a mean breakfast (specifically her biscuits and gravy)? Be sure to use the outdoor shower!

This Bayhouse is close to family-friendly activities like the Kemah Boardwalk and NASA Lyndon B Johnson Space Center. The views are beautiful and there are no neighbors and lots of privacy. Only a 20 min drive to Galveston Beach or 25 min drive into Houston (ie NRG Stadium). Perfect for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids). Plenty of restaurants and fun.
This house has been in the family since 1931, withstanding Hurricanes Carla, Allison, Alicia and Ike. It has undergone much restoration while maintaining its unique Bayside charm and history.
This has been a Bed &Breakfast since the 1990's and unfortunately most of the neighboring establishments have been lost to past hurricanes. However, just down the street are the community's infamous fish markets and directly over the bridge is the ever popular Kemah Boardwalk.
  • Historic house full of character, wonderful views of Kemah and Galveston Bay. Wonderful responsive hosts. Highly recommend!

  • A great house in a unique spot. Close enough to see the action on Kemah Boardwalk but far away enough for privacy. Sean and Pam have provided renters with lots of amenities and some really nice touches. An historic property with modern flair!

  • Lovely home with amazing views.

  • The view is amazing. And the location is even better! Short drive to stores, the boardwalk, not to mention sea food markets and restaurants. We all felt very comfortable there and couldn't have asked for more. Will definitely be booking again.

  • Beautiful house in a stunning location with an amazing history with photo albums to look at too. About a 5 minute drive from the boardwalk and the lighthouse district which was great for us. Sean was a great communicator and Pam was there to meet us when we arrived. Our every need was taken care of. We only wish we could've stayed longer to enjoy it more.

  • High Tide is awesome. Exceeds all expectations. The perfect view for fireworks, and watching boats come in and out of the bay. Can't say enough good about this place or our hosts.

  • Sean and his family were amazing hosts and the location of the home was unreal! We were honored to have had a chance to stay in their cherished home that's been in their family for 90 years! Can't wait to come back and stay again!
