Places to stay in Glencoe
Nestled in the forest, lochs and mountains we have our spacious and eco friendly Signal Rock Cottage. With bird songs being the score for your ears and nature being the canvas for the eyes, underfloor heating for your feet we love to be able to offer this as your special holiday spot. Fun film fact: Warner Brothers used the Torren Lochen in the Harry Potter film The Prisoner of Azkaban. All the scenes with Hagrids Hut were filmed here. Dogs Welcome - £10 per dog per night subject to T+Cs.
Signal Rock Cottage was built in 2008 as an Eco House utilising a local biomass boiler and underfloor heating to make a cozy yet contemporary space. The setting within the forest makes for a true get a way feel with wildlife spotting opportunities in abundance from the window. The cottage consists of 2 double en-suit rooms which can have beds made up as either doubles or twins. The shared living area opens out with patio doors into the forest and the fully equipped kitchen makes it a perfect spot if you fancy dining in for the evening. You may find that there is someone staying in the other bedroom with whom you will be sharing the living space & kitchen. Unusually for a B&B we have a kitchen for the exclusive use of our guests. We also allow access to the cottage at all times of day so you can come and go as you like. Washing machine and drying facilities are also available to our guests on request. There is cosy underfloor heating fuelled by a wood fuelled boiler feed with wood chips locally sourced. All the water in the taps comes direct from our own spring and is filtered and passed through an Ultraviolet light to ensure purity. No Chlorine is added. We are proud of our Green credentials and have won many awards for our Environmental management. We have Wifi but the Highlands of Scotland are, according to a National newspaper, the most poorly served in the whole of Britain as far as Broadband is concerned. Service is reasonable in our area most of the time but the signal can drop from time to time, this is generally the time I take it as a sign to go outside (or look out the window if its pouring and stormy). We only accept bookings at the week-ends for a minimum of 2 nights. So Sunday night, Monday, Tuesday , Wednesday and Thursday nights are all available to be reserved on a one night basis. Only Friday and Saturday nights have to be booked together. Breakfast is provided on a self services basis and we will stock the cupboards with a selection of cereals, bread, spreads, milk, yogurt, fruit, teas and coffees. The second B&B room is also listed on Airbnb giving the opportunity for the private use of the cottage apartment. If you can't find the listing send us a message and we'll help you book this. Please note the private owners apartment is located upstairs. Dogs Welcome - £10 per dog per night subject to T+Cs. If you intend on bringing your dog please contact us prior to arrival.
Glencoe is the most iconic Glen in Scotland. Dramatic and a "must visit" for all visitors . We are lucky to live right in the middle of the Glen. As someone said to me " the silence at night is deafening!" The sky is black and on a clear night alive with starlight. We feel incredibly lucky to live here and love to share it with everyone! It was here that Warner Bros filmed the Harry Potter film "The Prisoner of Azaskaban! and all the pictures of Hagrids Hut for the subsequent films are from here. You can see the site from Torren Lochan. Warner Bros told us they needed mountains, trees and water and we had it all! The Glencoe Cottages were taken as Editing Offices and they rented Torren House as their Production Office. They were here for 5 months in 2005 .
  • Amazing cottage in an amazing part of the world! Hosts allowed us the peace we were looking for and provided good breakfast items for the morning. 5min drive from Glencoe Village there is beauty all around. Please be aware this is a shared cabin so if you don't book both room 1 and room 2 then you may be sharing the amenities

In the famous Glencoe valley, beside the river Coe and at the edge of an old majestic forest near the historical Signal Rock is our East cottage which can sleep up to 6 people. With its eco-friendly underfloor heating and its views out to the mountains this is a perfect spot to escape to the highlands. You can walk to our famous nearby lively Pub. There is car parking space by the cottage. Please note that we have a policy of 2 nights min stay at the w/e's. Dogs Welcome - £10 pdpn T+Cs apply
East cottage has 3 bedrooms each with 2 beds ( any 2 beds can be made up as a large double on request) 1 bedroom has its own private shower-room. There is a further shared shower-room. All the beds are made up with a bottom sheet, duvet with a cover, & 2 pillows with pillowslips. The living/dining/kitchen area has large glass doors giving views over the river and access to the patio area with garden furniture & a BBQ. There is also a small bonfire area where our guests can enjoy a rustic ourdoor experience. We have midge eating machines running in the summer to help with eliminating the insect life! The living room has 2 sofas and 2 armchairs a coffee table and a bookcase full of books. There is a TV/DVD player, wi-fi radio & free WiiFi access. However do please be aware that in this mountainess area we only get speeds of 0.5 MB! 3G & 4G are available and you will get better internet access on your mobile phone than we can provide you with here. I am just flagging this up because I know many people are disappointed by our low speeds. The dining table seats 6 with a corner bench and additional chairs. There is plenty of crockery & cutlery. The kitchen has an electric fan oven, cooking hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, electric whisk, toaster, filter coffee machine and an electric kettle. Our water comes direct from our own underground spring. It is filtered and passed through an Ultra Violet light and is as pure as any bottled water you can buy! The cottage is heated and the hotwater comes from an eco friendly central woodchip fed boiler. The woodchips are locally sourced and the wood is sustainably grown. We have a Gold award for our Eco-friendly management and take our Green credentials very seriously. This cottage is let on a self-catering basis. No food is provided. All linen and towels are provided free of charge. East Cottage has a total floor area of 60 sq.m. Dogs Welcome - £10 per dog per night T+Cs apply. Please contact us prior to arrival to arrange the additional dog booking.

  • This was a perfect location for the hiking we did and a wonderful (walkable distance) pub with stunning views. Loved the rushing water by the cabin, deer, ponies and dark starry nights

    Jan2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Warm, rustic cabin very close to running stream in the valleys of Glencoe. So close to nature, hiking and outdoors activity for the whole family. Come for the amazing outdoors - not for the comforts of home. Deer wander freely, as do 2 adorable Shetland ponies around the grounds. A short walk to spectacular views!

    John2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in the most idyllic location. We loved watching the birds from the lounge and even had a deer stroll past. The well equipped kitchen has everything you need for a self catering holiday. Comfy beds and soft feather pillows were appreciated after a days walking. We enjoyed a night at the pub (a short walk) which serves great food, has live music (Saturday) and a couple of pool tables. Thank you Keren & Rob we had a great stay.

    Marianne2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic place in the middle of nature, we enjoyed it very much including our kids. Fabulous views of the mountains right next to the house, great opportunities for walking and hiking, useful tips from Keren and Rob (hiking to the hidden valley was great!).

    Ralf2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for somewhere quiet, private and breathtaking views, this is the place for you. Just bring a fan if it's summer months :)

    Omar2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great location with quick access to some beautiful locations for walking, trekking. Just as advertised. Very serene with a nice stream next to the house. Very environmentally friendly family. Thoughtful messages around the house showing extreme care to preserve the beauty and wildlife of the neighborhood. We loved it

    Divya2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! Lovely hosts

    Najib2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Glencoe was our favorite destination as we toured the Highlands of Scotland. Truly the most stunning vistas and it was lovely to come back from a day of hiking to Keren and Rob’s charming cottage. We felt very private and comfortable; just sorry it was too rainy or windy to take advantage of the fire pit! We were thrilled to watch a deer wander right across the back garden and loved seeing all the different birds come into the feeder. It was the perfect “get away from it all” location with a handy pub right up the road.

  • We spent one night in thus really unic house, small but very well organised, cosy and warm. Thank you so much

    Thomas2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The micro lodge was a beautiful little space on the edge of the loch. Shian communicated brilliantly all way through our booking and even messaged to let us know she had turned the heating on before we arrived which was very thoughtful. Shian is an excellent host and the treats made us feel very welcome. Great way to start the nc500 from west yorkshire! Thank you x

    Laura2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is the cosiest and warmest place I have ever stayed. The cabin has everything you would need. The view out of the front door is just beautiful (whatever the weather). The cabin had so many thoughtful touches and great books. The only regret is not staying longer, I would highly recommend it as a place to stay.

    Kellie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay for us! Everything you could want, so perfectly packed into this comfy micro lodge. Easy to find and check in hassle free. The fire was even made and ready to go for when we came in from the cold!!

"New" 5 star luxury studio with loch views. Beautifully finished to a bespoke hotel standard. Ideal location for exploring the best of Glencoe and Lochaber. The accommodation is rented on a room only basis breakfast is not provided. However, The fabulous Holly Tree Hotel and Restaurant is located 2 minutes away and we can arrange for you to enjoy breakfast there taking advantage of the amazing panoramic views. Pre-booking is required.
Luxury drench shower, deep double slipper bath and wonderfully comfortable king size bed. Internet TV with free wifi. Relaxation area with gas fire. Coffee machine, kettle, toaster, small hotel style fridge and limited crockery. There is no cooking facilities. Guests can opt to prepare a light continental style breakfast within the accommodation using their own food items. Outdoor seating area with views directly onto the loch.
Hi Folks A few recommendations for you to consider while your here. A quick internet search will give you more details! You'll be spoilt for choice for dinner options. The closest restaurant to us is The Holly Tree which has a fabulous lochside location and amazing panoramic views and you can walk to it easily. There is also Loch Leven Hotel which overlooks Ballachulish Bridge again a short drive from us or The Laroch Restaurant in Ballachulish village and Loch Leven Seafood Cafe on the shores of the Loch all of which have wonderful reviews !! Clachaig Inn is the climbers pub and restaurant with live music. It's really hard to choose if you have a quick internet search on these it may help you decide. Glen Etive is the estate owned by the family of Ian Fleming (James Bond fame) and location for part of Skyefall. The estate is situated in the heart of Glencoe. The other recommendations are a trip to Oban to visit the distillery. Also en route to Oban is Port Appin where you can see Stalker Castle from Jubilee Bridge and visit Pier House for Seafood or just a coffee and scone. The cafe above Stalker Castle is called “the view” 20 minute drive from here - and has great breakfast options! From Oban you can take a boat trip to the Isle of Mull and onto tranquil Iona and the Abbey - its a long day but really worth the effort. Skye is also possible as a day trip and I would highly recommend you use the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale on Skye. The journey from Fort William to Mallaig is classed as one of the 10 best journeys in Europe - stop at Camusdarroch beach its simply stunning! If you choose Adrnamurchan seek out Sanna Bay and if open The Boat House at Kingairloch is a great stop for lunch. If the weather is awful book afternoon tea at Inverlochy Castle Hotel in Fort William - it's a real treat and worth a visit total relaxation and a wonderful experience! You are probably best to pre book. The gondola trip up the mountain can be found at Nevis Range just outside Fort William and a short drive from Inverlochy Castle Hotel. You may also like the drive to Glenfinnan and Mallaig - route of the famous Harry Potter train. Glenfinnan also has the monument to Bonnie Prince Charlie and the famous viaduct from the film. There is an amazing waterfall at Steall Falls situated in Glen Nevis and the Lost Valley in Glencoe is a spectacular hike or we do have Ben Nevis !! For mountain biking Nevis Range is home of the mountain bike World Cup track. If your brave and would like to try canyoning, via feratta or kayaking look at vertical decents. Discover Glencoe is a great web site for ideas too. There is a small grocery store in Ballachulish called the CoOp which is open from 7am to 10pm in case you needed anything. Hope this helps !! Kind regards Mairi
  • absolutely beautiful place to stay... would definitely stay there again. all the touches were amazing and the studio was stunning ... such attention to detail...

    Kate2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time here, as soon as we arrived we where met by mari who was extremely friendly and helpful and gave us plenty of good local recommendations. We where immediately blown away by the views, and the accommodation itself is terrific and very cosy, with a huge easy to use fire, and all the essential facilities, aswell as plenty of little personal touches throughout that made it a very charming place to stay.

    Tommy2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, stunning place, excellently well appointed, we only wish we could have stayed longer....highly recommend!

    Andrew2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, super clean and stylish base to go and explore the surrounding area. Gorgeous soft furnishings and design in the studio. Very homely feel, the view is outstanding. Despite our not so lovely weather. Very helpful tips and amenities were great. All in all cracking wee place to stay!

    Joanne2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot fault this place at all! Right from the moment we booked this until we left we were blown away. The attention to detail, the flexibility of Mairi, the little touches, even down to the bedding and towels. Genuinely loved it and we cannot wait to come back!

    Loren2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space and perfectly located. Spent a peaceful and enjoyable evening here and highly recommend it to anyone traveling through the area. You won’t be disappointed.

    Patrick2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This studio flat is in an excellent location overlooking Loch Linnhe towards the hills to the North. The road below is not at all noticeable and there is a very good footpath/cycle track over the road which follows the sea in both directions. Despite temperatures of -4 the studio was very warm and there was copious hot water for the comfortable bath. There is a good sized mini fridge with fresh milk provided. There is a coffee pod type machine, good quality kettle, microwave, toaster and egg boiler. The overall standard was very high so the studio is highly recommended. We thought the Pier House restaurant/hotel at Port Appin was excellent for location, service and quality.

Schoolhouse cottage has gorgeous views of the sea and mountains and is wonderfully located for exploring the highlands. Here you can enjoy the flexibility of a whole cottage, but for short stays if that suits you best.
The cottage is light, bright and cozy and overlooks Loch Linnhe and the mountains of Glencoe and Ballachulish. The spacious living room has a vaulted ceiling and leads on to an open plan kitchen and dining area. The bedroom is small, but has a king-size bed with a memory foam mattress and fitted wardrobes. The whole cottage is decorated in restful, neutral colours. Located on the main route through the western highlands, connecting Glencoe to Mallaig, Skye and the small isles, the cottage is on the A82, 10 miles south of Fort William and between the villages of Onich and North Ballachulish. Surrounding the cottage are beautiful gardens with an outdoor seating area. Across the road, steps lead on to a secluded, shingle beach with views eastwards towards Glencoe and westwards towards the Isle of Mull. There is free Wi-Fi, along with a TV/DVD player and a Bluetooth music system. The kitchen is well equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, and dishwasher, and basics such as organic sunflower oil, fairtrade sugar, salt and pepper are also provided. In addition, you will find complimentary organic ground coffee, fairtrade instant coffee, fairtrade and organic tea, as well as Scottish shortbread. Laundry facilities are also available. Perfect as a base for exploring the Highlands and touring on to Skye and the northern isles, the cottage offers the flexibility of short stays for two or more nights, self-catering. The cottage sleeps two and we can additionally provide a cot and high chair for wee ones. One dog is usually welcome at no extra charge but please check with us before booking if you intend to bring a dog. On your arrival, you will find complimentary, organic, ground coffee, tea, milk and Scottish shortbread. We look forward to welcoming you as our guests.
There are many nice places to eat nearby, including the Loch Leven Hotel and the Onich Hotel, both of which are dog-friendly, and the Laroch restaurant and bar in Ballachulish, whose kitchen is run by Michelin Star Chef, Allan Donald. For seafood, the Loch Leven Seafood Café is highly recommended. As the Outdoor Capital of the UK, the region of Lochaber is fantastic for all kinds of outdoor activities including hiking, sailing, skiing, ice-climbing and cycling. The ski resorts of Glencoe and the Nevis ranges are about 25 minutes' drive away and are open all year round for skiers and hikers. Boat trips to visit the islands and spot wildlife depart from Loch Leven and Loch Linnhe. A thirty mile radius from the cottage takes in Ben Nevis, the mountains of Glencoe, the world's largest indoor ice-climbing wall, the Seal Sanctuary near Oban, Glenfinnan where Bonnie Prince Charlie gathered the clans in 1745 and the famous Harry Potter viaduct .... to name but a few.
  • We had a fabulous stay at the schoolhouse cottage. The cottage was sparkling clean, very cozy and in a stunning location. Sarah and Chris were quick to respond to messages and had added thoughtful touches like a wee Christmas tree which made us feel right at home. Cant wait to go back!

  • My husband’s and my stay at The Schoolhouse Cottage was incredible! This was by far our favorite Airbnb stay we’ve ever had. Chris and Sarah were the absolute best hosts. They greeted us as we arrived and showed us around. The cottage was so organized and so clean and we had all the amenities that we needed. Chris and Sarah even left us a small pitcher of milk for our tea/coffee and some delicious shortbread cookies. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to our Scotland honeymoon trip. The next chance we get to come back to Scotland, we will 100% be booking another stay at the schoolhouse cottage. We would highly recommend staying here!

    Steven2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house is clean and tidy, and the windows and the gates are the lake and the mountains. Each window is like a painting, especially at sunrise and sunset. Very worth living.

  • Highly recommend staying here! We were only there for one night, but it was my favorite place that we stayed at on our trip (stayed at 4 different places in Scotland). The view was incredible, and the house was clean and nicely decorated. The hosts were really nice and met us when we arrived. They even left us some milk in the fridge which was very helpful since we didn’t have time to go to the store!

  • Things to know when staying at this AirBnB. 1. It's a clean house, good location. Close to bus stop. About 8-10min walk. 2. Minimal to no heating, bedroom is very cold, all the extra blankets had to be used. 3. Limited hot bathing water. 4. Breakfast consists of tea, coffee, toast, fruit, cereal and yogurt. 5. Ths wifi is fast and works well. 6. Being in the house during the day is an inconvenience to homeowner, if there during the daytime you will feel very unwelcomed. 7. There is a 5% off for dinner or 10% off for lunch discount for the hotel restaurant that is next door. 8. Area is good for hiking and outdoor activities. 9. You must take buses to get a round, not very walkable. 10. There is an art gallery less than 2 minutes walk from the house. Lots of nice artwork by local artists. The area was lovely. The sights were gorgeous.

  • Sarah’s place was absolutely great! We found it extremely relaxing, cosy, and convenient! We were greeted kindly and were delighted with Sarah’s helpful attitude and her hospitality! We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

  • Let me start by saying, on a clear night, you can see the stars. Not only are the views amazing, the location is really convenient. The breakfast spread is good, the hospitality is phenomenal, and the amenities are decent. Sarah is really kind, had great tips about where to visit, and even booked us a dinner table at the nearby Loch Leven Hotel with a discount. We were initially not sure about booking because of the unlocked doors system, but it wasn’t at all a concern while we were there. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Sarah is a lovely Host! very kind and welcoming. Her home is really nice and she pays attention to many great details. The check in and out was very easy. We loved the restaurant in the hotel next door, would defenitely recommend it, and you get a voucher too :) The surroundings are amazing too, Glencoe is just a 20min drive from there. We loved it :)

  • Had a great time at Sarah’s place. Right before Christmas she had her rooms all festive and wonderful. Lovely host who provided a cozy breakfast for us. Would recommend!

  • Beautiful location! We had the whole place to ourselves for the night, and Jon & Sarah treated us very well. They even made a reservation for us at a nearby restaurant before our arrival

    Kale2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • The house sits right on the loch and has beautiful views. Sarah was a great host, letting me know about the local events and suggestions. The home itself is beautiful and very clean. She also had breakfast for the morning. Definitely recommended!

Located in the heart of Glencoe The Bunkie offers budget accommodation for individuals or small groups The Bunkie shares the private garden of Minard Cottage. There is a decking area with table + chairs The Bunkie has over the years provided accommodation for many famous and infamous Scottish climbers With it's quirky rail siding ladder (not for the feint hearted) the Bunkie provides comfortable accommodation in the heart of Glencoe The Bunkie can sleep 5 persons, we would advise no more than 3
Small but perfectly formed the Bunkie provides excellent budget accommodation in the heart of Glencoe. The entrance hall provides a drying area for wet jackets and boots. While the open plan kitchen/seating area has a slimline four ring electric cooker with oven and grill, a microwave and full size fridge freezer. All cooking essentials are supplied. The sitting area has a small double sofa bed, a tub seat and a collapsible dining table with 4 chairs, Tv and electric fire. The bed room upstairs has a double bed, a single bed, a single camp bed and two sets of drawers. Due to the combed ceiling there is no hanging space upstairs. There is a shower room and toilet downstairs.
The original cottage dates back to the 18th century and sits above the old ferry crossing point for the MacDonald burial islands in Loch Leven. The cottage gets its name from the village of Minard on the shores of Loch Fyne in Argyll. Glencoe is the perfect base to explore the Highlands of Scotland. Oban (the seafood capital of Scotland is about 45 mins to the south). From Oban, day trips can be made to the Isle of Mull, Iona, Lismore and beyond. Fort William (the outdoor capital of the UK is about 30 mins to the north) and a continued drive to Mallaig, on the world famous Road to the Isles, takes in some of the most breathtaking scenery anywhere in the world. Glencoe Ski Centre is about 15mins drive away and it is easy to be first on the slopes. The world famous mountains of Glencoe are all within walking distance of the front door. Cycle paths surround the area giving challenging downhill mountain biking through to tarmac cycle lanes on the Atlantic Coast Trail. The immediate area is well served with convenience stores, banking facilities, garage, hardware, gift shops, bars and restaurants. The area is one of the most important for history in Scotland. The infamous Glencoe Massacre took place in 1692 and you should visit the massacre site and the monument. This area was also strongly Jacobite and 'came out' in 1715 and 1745 to support the Stuart Cause. This is perhaps best seen from nearby Glenfinnan, where there is a visitor centre and monument. The best way to visit Glenfinnan is by Steam Train, over the bridge featured in Harry Potter. The whole of Lochaber is at the heart of the TV Show Outlander. This follows on the back of other movies made in the immediate area such as Rob Roy, Highlander, Harry Potter, Skyfall and Braveheart. Come and see for yourself why so many movies are set here.
  • Great location, really easy check in and Tracey responded really quickly to messages - would highly recommend!

  • Had an amazing stay in The Bunkie with my dog! Perfect location for walking around Glencoe, absolutely beautiful surroundings. Check in was so easy. Streamed Netflix on the WiFi every evening so no problems with connectivity. Can’t wait to stay again

  • Tracey’s place is beautiful! It’s very cozy, and she provides plenty of heat downstairs. The pullout sofa is very comfortable, and being able to stay next to coffee/gas stations right in Glencoe is such a treat. Very scenic! Plus Fort William is very close (lots of restaurants!). Tracey is very quick to communicate and is so kind. Do try to have plenty of communication (in regards to finding the address) prior to. It’s really easy to find, just coming from Edinburgh my gps brought me to the general area - I just needed to keep straight another five minutes, and there it was on my left! Cell service isn’t great (it is the highlands) but Tracey provides WiFi so you can always look things up in there! :) overall, would highly suggest since it’s in such a scenic spot between Edinburgh and the Isle of Skye. Makes traveling out easier than trying to go from Edinburgh/Glasgow to the Isles in one day.

    Casey2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Bunkie was a great place to based in Glencoe. Compact but cozy — and with some of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept on when traveling! The location too was perfect — right next to Crafts and Things, easy drive to Fort William, and easy drive to many trailheads in the area.

  • Beautiful wee cottage in beautiful Glencoe right near the coach stop. Tracey contacted me immediately to provide directions and to enquire how the beds should be arranged, so great communication. Great value for the money.

  • The flat was even better than expected. Felt bigger than the photos, was really cosy though, loved the log fire. Silvia was very helpful with local tips and responded very quickly to our queries. Location was beautiful and would definitely stay again

    Nyla2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very peaceful place which was more spacious than seems in the pictures. The double glazing kept out the wind and the central heating kept the place toasty. With a log burner to add a relaxing touch. Hassle free check-in. Would stay again! Thank you!

  • This is a great place to stay. It's easy to get to, very cosy and in a great location for walking. There are a couple of bars and restaurants within walking distance, as well as a cafe 2 doors down, but if you want to stay in you can keep warm by the wood burner. The studio was really clean and Sylvia was very quick and helpful responding to any queries.

  • Clean, cosy place in Glencoe with all the amenities you need. Not far from Glencoe Lochan and the Lost Valley if you want to go for a hike. We were offered a personal check in but since we weren’t sure when we’d get there we chose to self-check in which worked out well. Communication with our host was excellent.

  • Glencoe is an amazing place for anyone looking for some absolutely beautiful hiking! Truly a hidden gem! The studio was very nice! Everything was clean, no complaints. Would love to come back!

All very helpful.

Ceol Mara is a comfortable and airy property in the iconic village of Glencoe. There are fantastic views to Loch Leven , Ardnamurchan and the Pap of Glencoe from both the house and enclosed garden. The River Coe is 200 yards from the property where there is a natural swimming spot to enjoy in summer sunshine. To the front of the house we have a field with bench to enjoy the sunset where it is not uncommon to see stag grazing throughout the year.
Everyone who visits comments on the spectacular sea and mountain views from the garden and house. The property is warm, bright and airy and is in close walking distance of the village, local shop, pub and café. People also love our golden lab, Rubh, who always offers a friendly welcome and loyal companionship throughout your stay. Guests are also free to help themselves to tea/ coffee from our kitchen and often comment on how relaxed they feel in our home. If your party is more than 2, we also have a second double bedroom with shared bathroom which can be rented via our facebook page Ceol Mara B&B.
Glencoe Village, although small, boasts a handy shop and pub. There are gentle walks from the doorstep and serious climbing in the glen itself. This is a beautiful area featured in many adverts for Scotland and films such as Harry Potter, Braveheart and Skyfall to name a few. There is abundant wildlife and outdoor pursuits such as kayaking, canyoning, white water rafting and mountain biking within a few miles of the house. Information on the area below. LOCAL INFORMATION Welcome to Ceol Mara which means music of the sea. We hope you will feel at home here and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any queries at all. Facebook page – Ceol Mara B and B SHOPS/ CAFES There is a local shop selling essentials in Glencoe village which closes about 6.30pm in the summer. Nearby is a Co op supermarket in the village of Ballachulish a mile away which shuts at 10pm and Morrisons, Marks and Spencer, Aldi, Lidl and Tesco Direct in Fort William which is 16 miles away. Glencoe Village has two very good cafes, one on the village main road, the other just after where you turn into the village. The latter, Craft and Things also have a lovely gift shop, book shop and art gallery. The visitor centre in Ballachulish where you can book local trips also has a friendly cafe and gift shop. The Glencoe Visitor Centre on the A82 has been recently refurbished and has an exhibition hall detailing the history and geology of the area. It also has a gift shop. RESTAURANTS/ PUBS – you can find sample menus at the visitor centre in Ballachulish or online. The pub/restaurant closest to the house is at the Glencoe crossroads and is called The Gathering. It has mixed reports both regarding food and service but it is in easy walking distance if you are tired. They stop serving food around 8.30pm. The Laroch pub in Ballachulish (1 mile) is a friendly local’s pub and not particularly attractive but boasts a Michelin star chef so the food is very good. You can get a main course for around £12 to nearer £20 and it is essential to book in advance – Tel 01855 811940 The Clachaig is walkable too and is approximately 3 miles over the wee bridge at the end of the village. It is very popular with young people and outdoor lovers. There is a lounge and attractive and atmospheric Boots bar to the right of the building where you can get hearty fare with a large selection of whiskeys, gins and cask ales. Food stops being served at 8.30pm and is around £13 for a main course. No need to book. On Saturday night it is extremely busy when there is live music and on Sundays there is an open session for local traditional music players whom you are welcome to join. Across the Ballachulish Bridge, turning right toward Kinlochleven you’ll find the Loch Leven Seafood Cafe. It is quite expensive but the quality of seafood is good and it has a good reputation. In summer and at weekends you require to book on 01855 821048. We enjoy the Holly Tree Hotel particularly in summer. It is 6 miles away towards Oban and if you have bikes you can cycle there on paths off the main road. You can hire bikes in Glencoe from Crank it Up just off the main street. The food is reasonably priced and the setting is lovely with a great decking overlooking the sea. It’s the same menu in the bar as the restaurant but with inflated prices in the restaurant. There’s no need to book the bar and the restaurant is 01631 740292. The recently renovated Kingshouse Hotel lies in the heart of the Glen some 13 miles from here. They have a very nice menu in the bar with generous portions and it is reasonably priced. There are resident deer around the hotel and the view down the Glen is spectacular. THINGS TO DO The area of Lochaber where Glencoe lies holds the title of the Outdoor Capital of the UK. There are several websites which will help you decide what to do when you are here - Discover Glencoe and Clachaigs own site will give you information on local walks and activities. There is kayaking, mountain biking, paddle boarding, segway, ice climbing, wild swimming, canyoning and many more activities nearby which can either be booked online or at the visitor centre in Ballachulish. If you only have a morning there is time enough to see the Glen itself on foot by taking the orbital path toward the Clachaig which takes you to the end of the Glen and then back to the village in about 2 hours. Alternatively, there is an interesting local museum in the village and a Lochan walk just after the wee bridge at the end of the main street. This would take about 1.5 hours. We have a ramblers guide covering the area you can borrow and of course there is Ben Nevis 16 miles away if you are more adventurous. You would need proper walking boots for that and to be aware that the weather can change dramatically at the top. If you enjoy driving it is worth taking the trip up to Mallaig fishing village along the Road to the Isles where you will think you are in the Caribbean on a good day. You can also take the Jacobite train from Fort William (requires booking in advance), or just the local one which goes across the Glenfinnan viaduct which featured in one of the Harry Potter films. Another lovely trip is to the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, a short ferry trip across the Corran Straits, where you’ll find wildlife viewpoints, white sandy beaches at Ardtoe and Sanna Bay and the Ardnamurchan lighthouse at the mainland’s most westerly point. It takes about 3 hours to reach this point so be sure to pick up refreshment s from my friend Morag who runs the local shop in Kilchoan! There is a good map at the Corran ferry terminal detailing places to visit on the peninsula. We also like to go over to Lismore Island particularly if you have bikes as you can cycle around the whole island. You can also hire electric bikes near the ferry to Lismore if that’s easier! There is a very nice hotel at Port Appin where you get the ferry and you will pass Castle Stalker which was in the Monty Python series years ago on your way. There is a lovely viewpoint at the Castle Stalker cafe before you go downhill to an old converted barn called the Old Inn which is worth a visit. Oban is also a cheery harbour town about 50 minutes from Glencoe and from here you can take day trips to the inner isles such as Iona, Staffa and Mull. There are some charming independent shops there too and fresh fish outlets on the pier. There is also an award winning distillery in Oban and also Fort William if you are interested in whiskey and plenty in the Clachaig as we mentioned. Of course there is Loch Ness to visit also with many cruises setting off from both Fort William and Fort Augustus further north. Gordon and I have driven to and from Plockton in a day as it is one of our favourite places. From there you can drive to Applecross which is quite a challenging drive over a pass on single track road but the views on a good day are spectacular. At the end of your journey in Applecross there is a little inn for lunch which is usually buzzing so you’d be advised to book – 01520 744262. That trip would involve passing the famous Eilean Donan castle which featured in the film Highlander and many other adverts for Scotland. It is quite a drive but well worth it. If you are heading from here onward to the Isle of Skye you can detour off the main road to Plockton for lunch at the Plockton Hotel and on from there to the Skye bridge. If it is raining, Inverary Jail is interesting and interactive and there is also a castle in the village. The George Hotel is ancient and really quaint so perfect for lunch. Alternatively a tour of the Hollow Mountain at the Cruachan Dam is fascinating and both destinations are about 1 hour 15 minutes drive from here. It is advised to book the Cruachan Tour on 0141 6149105. 6 miles away in Kinlochleven, there is indoor rock climbing including the world’s biggest indoor ice climbing walls and aerial adventure course. If you are interested in wildlife you will definitely see deer if you drive down Glen Etive where some of James Bond in Skyfall was filmed or you may be lucky enough to see the 3 stags that live around our fields. The ones down Glen Etive are used to visitors and will approach your car whilst ours are indifferent but I wouldn’t get too close!
  • Excellent hosts, comfortable stay, great location, and enjoyable conversation. Would definitely recommend staying here!

  • I have just returned from a 4 night stay at Silvia’s and highly recommend it. The house is lovely and done in a cosy style - feels very homely and comfortable. The house is super clean and breakfast plentiful - you wont go hungry! Silvia was there when we arrived and explained everything and went out of her way to lend us a baby cot / baby items etc as we were travelling with my 1 year old baby. A huge help and very much appreciated! The location is also great - you can get anywhere in the highlands from here and there is a cute cafe next door but one and some great places to eat in the village (walking distance). We will definitely return - highly recommend!

    Stacie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Two of us on a trip through the Highlands had a wonderful two-night stay here; we were lucky to have the whole house to ourselves, since the other bedroom wasn't reserved at the time. Namara itself is great - we travelled by public transport, so it was a very convenient quick (less than 5 minutes) walk into the town of Glencoe, which has a cafe, bus stop (with service to Citylink service to the Glencoe visitor's center and ski center and to larger towns/cities beyond), shop, mobile banking van, access to walking trails, etc., and about 20 minutes walk to Ballachulish, which has a grocery store, visitor's center and its own trail system. For guests with a car, parking and driving to the various locations described above would be easy. Within the house, the common areas include a full kitchen, which we used to prepare meals and store items to take on daily hikes. The style of the house is also charming - lots of wood and warm colors - and the view across the loch is stunning. Finally, Silvia was a great host; she met us in person at check-in with her adorable kids, gave us a quick tour around the house to show us the amenities, and was very accessible and responsive. She checked on things and was kind enough to tidy while we were out for the day, providing a lovely spread for breakfast each day, and even leaving little holiday treats, since we were visiting between Christmas and Hogmanay. Thank you to Silvia and a hearty recommendation to anyone considering a stay at Namara!

  • Namara is a beautiful wooden house with fire place and amazingly full equiped kitchen. Although the place is pretty close to a busy road, the views to the loch and glens definitely made up for that. Silvia is a kind host who cleaned up the place everyday, provided a full continental breakfast every morning and was so kind to give us some tips for good hikes as well.

  • Silvia's house is amazing. Beautiful warm room with view on the loch, nice wooden floors and furniture, comfortable bed and clean private bathroom. Silvia was very kind and welcoming, giving us lots of information about walks, restaurants etc. We really enjoyed our stay .

    Melita2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two days in Silvias house. Silvia herself doesn’t live there, so you and the other guests have this beautiful house all for yourselves! It is very easy to find, just off the main road, and has a nice view from the balcony. The kitchen alone is a very cozy place to sit in, but the rest of the house is really lovely too! Silvia gave us great tips for walking in Glencoe and checking in and out was very easy. We loved it there and will definitely stay there again if we’re back in Scotland!

The apartment itself is spotlessly clean, spacious and has everything you need for a short or long stay. Communication with Natasha was quick and efficient and check in and out was easy. Also a perfect location for all of the amazing highland walks nearby! The apartment had everything we needed and was perfectly clean and tidy. We would definitely recommend this as a place to stay, and will hopefully be visiting again soon!

  • We had a lovely time at the Annex - a beautiful place to spend the weekend and explore Glencoe. Rochelle and her family were so helpful when we had questions and very quick to get back to us. Highly recommend!!

  • Great place to stay. The coffee shop next store is a great plus. The hiking was great and close. I didt realize there wasn’t WIFI and it said that in the listing but I missed that. Other that that great place. Thank you

    Jaime2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a GEM of a place! The photos don’t do it justice! Great use of space, all kitchen tools we needed to make a full breakfast in the morning. Loved the lofted bed area. There is no WiFi so we just made sure to stop at the local cafes when we needed to plan for the following day. Thank you again!

    Stephanie2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to discover the Glencoe Valley. Many things to do nearby and the shops, restaurants are not far away. The accommodation is as described in the announcement, everything is made to be at home.

    Yann-Axel2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at the annex! It was very clean and Rochelle responded quickly when we had trouble checking in. One thing to be aware of: the bathroom door has small gaps on the sides and bottom, similar to a bathroom stall. This wasn’t an issue as it was just me and my husband, but could be awkward if you have a larger group. I would definitely recommend staying at the annex.

    Nicole2019-08-30T00:00:00Z

Full Scottish breakfast is included along with free wifi and parking. All rooms have en-suite showers. Special dietary needs can be catered for with notice. We also have a twin/double room listed on Airbnb (room 2) and another double (room 4)
The room has a standard double bed and a loch view looking towards Lochleven and Glencoe. This is one of our quietest and most private rooms located at the side of the house. Room facilities are as follows: complementary hospitality tray with teas/coffee and biscuits, Highland soap company toiletries, bottled water, fresh milk (on request). Large TV and radio, USB charging port, hair drier and Iron and ironing board (on request).
We are situated on the main Glen Coe to Oban road in a semi-rural location with unobstructed views across Loch Linnhe and the Ardgour Peninsula. It is a wonderful place to view a whole host of wildlife including otters, pinemarten and red squirrels which have all been seen from our doorstep.
  • Lawrence is the most wonderful host you could ask for - warm, incredibly helpful and friendly, full of useful tips and patient! We can't speak highly enough of him! His wife's cooking was also spectacular and the breakfast quality was outstanding. We hope the government will help him get the high speed internet for his place - that would be icing on a rather excellent cake.

    Benjamin2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lawrence has been a wonderful host. Very friendly, helpful and thoughtful around lots of details, which make the stay special. Great breakfast and great scenery. I can fully recommend! Thomas

  • Everything was great from top to bottom. Excellent accommodations and a beautiful view.

    Grace2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough about my stay at Craiglinnhe. First, the location and views are to die for and the photos in the listing don't come close to doing it justice. Absolutely breathtaking. Lawrence was there to greet me and was so welcoming. He gave me all the tips and tricks of the place, and when he found I hadn't made reservations for dinner that evening offered to take care of it for me! So kind. My intention the next day was to hike Ben Nevis, which was going to have me out earlier than breakfast is served. Learning this, Lawrence offered a takeaway pack of breakfast so I was sure to eat! When I came down the next morning, the pack was there but unfortunately the visibility was not so I called of the hike. He welcomed me to join the breakfast room and got me tea and made me comfortable even though I wasn't technically RSVP'd for that mornings full meal. Knowing my desire for hike, he gave me suggestions around the area and a map to borrow and the day turned out just lovely because of it. The views of the loch from the breakfast room, sitting room, and Room 5 are unbelievable. The room itself was very comfortable and plenty in size. I would recommend this space to anyone and absolutely plan on returning!! Thank you for an amazing 2 days in and around Glencoe!

    Christie2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lawrence is truly one of the most welcoming and helpful people we've ever met. He gave awesome tips and things to do in the area. The place is easy to find (we drove) while overlooking the loch. The house and view is gorgeous. It was very quiet and peaceful. The room was clean, neat with a clean modern bathroom. They offer an amazing and delicious breakfast! Definitely recommend his place and I would definitely stay here again! Cheers!

    Deja2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lawrence and Craiglinnhe deserve 10 stars. He is certainly a super host and went above and beyond our expectations. A beautiful place to stay, the food was wonderful. The setting is spectacular. Mary Bommarito

Based in stunning Glencoe, Scotland's most iconic glen perfect for Skiing, Walking, Climbing, Biking, Golf fishing and more. Minard cottage is the perfect holiday home in the Highlands of Scotland. Located in Tigh Phuirt, Glencoe few locations rival the West Highlands of Scotland for scenery, history and culture. Glencoe is perhaps the most beautiful and iconic glen of them all. The cottage is spacious and can comfortably accommodate up to 9 people. Ideal for families and large groups.
The house which includes 4 large bedrooms, a large family/ tv room, dining room with working coal fire and a large family dining kitchen that opens into the garden. There is one family sized bathroom with wc,bath and power shower. This bathroom also has dim able lights, perfect after a long day exploring. There is a shower room with a wc again featuring a power shower. One of the double bedrooms also benefits from it's own ensuite wc and wash hand basin. The corridor that links the house looks out onto the garden and is an ideal spot to relax with a good book. We have left a large selection of our own books. Please feel free to swap one of your books for one of ours. The large private garden is shared only by guests using our one bedroom chalet that sits in the garden. The garden has a stream running through it with a little stone bridge. Please note that while the house is dog friendly the garden is not secure and dogs will have to be very well behaved or on a lead. Please tidy up after your dog. There is private parking for up to 5 cars at the front of the house.
The best way to visit Glenfinna is by Steam Train, the famous Hogwarts' Express. The whole of Lochaber is at the heart of the TV Show Outlander. This follows on the back of other movies made in the immediate area such as Rob Roy, Highlander, Harry Potter and Braveheart. Come and see for yourself why so many movies are set here.

  • We stayed at Minard Cottage with 6 adults and 4 kids between the ages of 1 and 75 years and we all had a great time! The rooms we're layed out perfectly for us with one double room right next to a room with 3 single beds, another huge double room with a cot and the 4th bedroom at the other end of the cottage for the grandparents. There were 3 different sitting areas which meant that you could always find a quiet place too. Location was great too and right next to a nice cafe with yummy scones and coffee! Highly recommended!

Situated in a peaceful hamlet close to the banks of Loch Leven at the heart of the Scottish Highlands our two self-catering holiday cottages are surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland. They are close to the stunning Glencoe valley (5 miles), Fort William and Ben Nevis (13 miles) and not far from Oban and the Isle of Mull (30 miles). Both cottages benefit from high speed BT Infinity Wifi. Our two stone cottages also benefit from being within walking distance to the village pub, The Old Ferry Bar and restaurant at the nearby Loch Leven Hotel. A short walk takes you down through the grounds of Alltshellach Country House opposite to picturesque Bishop's Bay on the banks of Loch Leven, and then along the forested loch side path to the Loch Leven Hotel. The Old Ferry Bar serves River Leven ales and has a comprehensive single malt and gin collection. Alternatively an even shorter route to the pub can be found along the gravel lane opposite the cottages (take a torch for the walk back!).
Alltshellach Cottages form part of a trio of courtyard cottages and date from the 19th century. Built from Kentallen granite under a Ballachulish slate roof, they were originally built to house servants working at Alltshellach Country House (former residence of the Bishop of Argyll, hence Bishop’s Bay), which stands opposite. The cottages have been refurbished to provide very high standard self-catering accommodation, and each has been awarded a 4 star grading by Visit Scotland.
North Ballachulish is located right in the centre of the Scottish Highlands and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland.
  • We had a lovely 4 night stay at the Old Stables. The place was clean and comfortable (the bedding was fantastic!) - it was a great place to come back to after long, cold and wet walks!

    Jen2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic property. Thoroughly enjoyed our winter break at The Stables.

    Linda2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, well styled, well equipped. In beautiful surroundings.

    Sander2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful cottage and the most amazing thing about the property is SPACE! The three bedrooms are generously proportioned but best of all are spread out throughout the property with interconnected corridors. Great if mum and dad (or the kids) want a bit of privacy from each other! The well appointed and spacious living area with kitchen / diner / sitting area was great for chilling out in, with a great view across the courtyard to the Pap of Glencoe. Good communication with a great host and spotlessly clean throughout. Location is excellent - quiet and peacefully tucked away at the back of North Ballachulish village, but you can be in Kinlochleven, Glencoe or Fort William in 15-20 minutes. We skied at Glencoe Mountain and visited the Ice Factor Climbing wall, along with numerous walks into the mountains around the loch. No shortage of activities in this area! Highly recommended and I'm sure we'll be back.

    Richard2019-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic place to stay and is immaculate. It is a very cosy cottage to come home to after a long day out. Hopefully one day will return in the not so distant future.

    Angie2018-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • A beautifully renovated cottage in a fantastic location. Very clean and spacious. Better than expected. Would stay again.

Traditional style semi detached cottage with log burning stove. Short walking distance to Glencoe and Ballachulish villages - just over 5 minutes to each and their shops, pubs, cafes. Loch view to the front of the cottage. Parking available at the rear of the cottage. Drying area for clothes etc. Private patio area just outside the living area at the rear of the cottage is an excellent suntrap and is sheltered from the wind so ideal in summer.
Built originally in the 18th Century, Stone Cottage provides magnificent views across Loch Leven, whilst the rear facing bedrooms provide scenic woodland views over the cottage grounds, which are close to one acre in size and include a stream and open waterways. The cottage is a short stroll away from both Glencoe and Ballachullish villages, as well as being a few hundred yards for the popular gift and coffee shop 'Crafts and Things' which is an ideal place to relax and enjoy a leisurely breakfast or sample a fine selection of refreshments after your invigorating day out in the mountains. The cottage is an ideal base for walkers and climbers to explore the local area. In line with our policy to always improve our cottages, in December 2018 we installed high quality double glazing in our cottages with the ability to reduce eternal noise down to a minimum, to help ensure all our guests enjoy the peace and quiet. New external doors are also being installed. To help make it easier when you arrive. We operate a key safe policy, so you are able to let yourselves in anytime from 4pm. We feel, this takes pressure off guests when they are driving to our cottages, as they do not feel as if they have to arrive at an expected time. We want you to enjoy the scenery on your drive to the cottage. Check out is by 10AM
Pubs, cafes, chips shop and a good size co-op supermarket are all within a short walking distance. 20 minute drive to Glencoe ski resort.

    Chris2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a nice place to stay in Glencoe. There are a few hiking around and you are not tha far from Fort Williams. We slept in the sofa bed and it was comfortable. The shower has pressure. The equipment is good as you can prepare sandwiches, eat microwave meals and there is a free washing machine with ecoballs and an efficient drying room. Don't hesitate for a moment, it is a good place to stay. Bonus: there is a good pub only at 10min by walk.

  • Staying at Keren and Rob' s little cabin was the highlight of my journey. Really the best place to choose from. It's a little bit out of Glencoe village which was definitely a good thing being in so close to nature. The nature there is outstanding and even the 10 minutes walk to the nearest pub/ restaurant was a fantastic experience. The little cabin had everything we needed and it was warm and cosy. Thank you so much! I would love to return one day!

  • We had a lovely time in the Signal Rock bunk room. Everything as described and great value for the facilities. Out favourite bit was the little island on the lochen where we sat to read out books for a while. We were also lucky enough to see a fleeting pine marten and a roe deer as we were leaving! Perfect for exploring the Glencoe valley. Very friendly hosts :)

Across the road, a path leads on to a secluded, shingle beach with views eastwards towards Glencoe and westwards towards the Isle of Mull. The atmosphere is relaxed, informal and, at the same time, private and independent. Hi speed internet is available free of charge.
There are many nice places to eat nearby, including the Loch Leven Hotel, the Onich Hotel, the Isles of Glencoe Hotel, the Ballachulish Hotel and the Laroch restaurant and bar in Ballachulish, whose kitchen is run by Michelin Star Chef, Allan Donald.

  • Our stay at Silvia’s bnb was very comfortable and stress free. The house is very clean and the spaces are really open and welcoming. Breakfast table is a wonderful addition, and we were able to use fridge space and jobs to make our own food. We had a really lovely stay and would come again in a heartbeat!

  • Extremely cozy and seated in the middle of some of the greatest hikes near Loch Lomond. Plenty of amenities close by for such a quaint town, and only a few minutes drive from many fantastic hikes. Silvia is very accommodating and kind, and the kitchen is loaded with guides for the area. Would love to stay here again!
