There are a good selection of local gastro pubs and restaurants nearby, including the Nag's Head, Rose and Crown, Chequer's Inn, the Wheel and the Michelin starred John's House. There are local walks, farm shops and garden centres nearby to complete the countryside experience. In the village itself we have Stathern Village Hall which has seasonal events, yoga and dance classes, St Guthlac's church with a regular Sunday and mid-week church service, the Coffee Shot cafe, the Village Store, David Cox Butchers, the Plough Inn and Stathern Garage.

  • It's an absolutely lovely place! All you need to feel welcome in a wonderful spot. The local village is very friendly. My partner and I only had one night there, but the first question on leaving was, "Can't we stay longer?" Super easy and smooth check in/out. Rosalyn was really helpful and nice, but the space has the exact amount of privacy you could want.

  • This is a lovely place to stay for a break to explore the surrounding villages and small towns. The room is quiet, private and very cosy. The facilities are brilliant - there is a superb TV with all streaming channels and the Wifi works very well. Rosalyn and Nik are great hosts -quick, effective communications and they make sure that you are comfortable with all that you need. Very highly recommended!

  • Rosalyn's place is a wonderful spot that is spotlessly clean, stylish and cozy. Everything I needed was to hand, the village is a gorgeous base to explore from and the views over the little valley are fantastic. Lovely and quiet, fantastic host, some very cute cats wondering around and overall highly recommended. I was there for work but I would come back just to chill.

  • Amazing place!! Absolutely amazing! X

    Sujay2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sue offered me a very warm welcome, she really cares for her guests' comfort and specific needs. The studio is well equipped, with simple yet beautiful and well made furniture. I loved the comfy bed with the sky light just above it, I had the moon on my pillow. Although the kitchen doesn't allow for cooking, it has a microwave, toaster and kettle, and, with a bit of planning, one can easily eat in. The space is very silent, which made it perfect for some regeneration time.

The self-catering studio space is private, just outside garden of main house, with its own drive for parking. It's close to the centre of the village and has excellent car and rail connections to other parts of the UK. It is ideal for one or two guests - couples, solo adventurers, business travellers. Simple help-yourself breakfast included, and some provisions, with small kitchenette. There's a garage space on ground floor below if needed for storage. Please note spiral staircase is narrow.
The space is like a tardis. It opens up at the top and is a warm, compact space, simply furnished. Although it is next to a village street on one side, it is generally quiet; you can hear owls in the evening sometimes.
The studio space is near the centre of the village with a greengrocers, a butchers, and two small supermarkets a minute or two away for those wishing to cook. Otherwise, there are two pubs (limited food), two cafes and two good restaurants, one with a wine bar and sometimes live music, as well as good fish and chips, Indian (sit down) and Chinese take-away amenities. The church dates from the medieval period and is well worth investigating. All around there are walks. A drive away, plenty more to visit.
  • Had a lovely weekend away here. The space is small but has everything you need and was very cosy! Harriet was a great host and replied to all messages promptly and provided fresh milk, bread and left a bottle of wine and chocolate which was a nice touch. Perfect little place for a weekend away with a partner!

    Lexie2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Super accommodation and Harriet was extremely helpful. What was especially nice was the well stocked fridge that had milk, orange juice and a couple of beers. Plenty of excellent tea and coffee too so I was very self sufficient during my 2 day stay. Great value for money. Would recommend wholeheartedly.

    Ben2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy and homely place to stay.

    Juliet2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely stay with thoughtful touches! So warm and cosy. Delighted with the fresh local produce waiting for us with a lovely bottle of red wine. Exceptional guidebook with local info. WiFi info was particularly helpful as it was a bit touch and go with storm Dennis! 100% would recommend and stay again!

    Ellie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A well appointed studio space with a few surprises. Clean, quite and relaxing with everything needed for pleasant stay. Great communication from Harriet and what a great location in a superb village in the Vale of Belvior.

    Stephen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Harriet was wonderful with us, took care of every detail and was extremely friendly. The flat is just like the photos, very well decorated and clean. In the small kitchen, you have what you need, in addition to a pantry that allows you to make your own breakfast. Nearby you can find a restaurant and a small market. The train station is 5 minutes walking, but I recommend that people go by car. If you go to hell, I recommend taking warm clothes, the flat has heating and a hot bedding. My husband and I recommend the place and would go back for a second visit.

    Danielle2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed in the main house at Harriet's before and this was my first time in the studio. Cosy, snug, peaceful - I slept so well and got lots of work done. Harriet had filled the fridge with basics and breakfast things and left such a kind welcome gift - a bar of vegan chocolate. Definitely game for a return visit.

    Sarah2020-01-17T00:00:00Z

Our home is within a beautiful village in the Vale of Belvoir. You’ll love staying here with the village feel and lively local pub. The room is a private access annexe attached to the main house which would be great for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
The annexe has a vaulted ceiling, a small kitchenette (has a microwave but no other cooking facilities) and a well proportioned en suite. Guests have access to fast wifi and parking. Great if you are looking for a relaxing break in village surroundings.
Harby village is lively with a pub serving food 7 days a week, a cafe and a local shop and garage. It's a beautiful, friendly village with walks and bike rides directly accessible.
  • We really loved this little annex and had such a lovely weekend here. The room is very comfortable and cosy. The host had left food for breakfast and there were toiletries in the bathroom too so they really went above and beyond. Despite being attached to the hosts property, we never felt like our privacy was being compromised and the location is rural, peaceful and perfect for a little weekend break in the countryside. Thanks so much for a great stay, would highly recommend!

    Jennifer2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this cozy little spot to explore from. The local pub was a great suggestion - Tom wasn’t kidding when he said the portions were enormous! Overall a great stay and recommended.

    Jesse2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little annex to spend the night. Comfortable bed, wonderfully clean, with handy little kitchenette to make hot drinks. Jennifer and her husband were also very flexible with check in- allowing us to arrive early so we could rush off to a Christmas concert. Handy place near to where family live- so I expect we will be back!

    Leonie2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy room with a good sized TV and nice shower facilities with toiletries. The kitchen area with fridge is a great bonus.

    Rebecca2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Many thanks to Jen and Tom for our stay. Lovely stylish space. Beautifully clean and comfortable. Great shower. Really nice selection of breakfast items and toiletries. Absolutely faultless, would highly recommend to anyone wishing to stay in the area.

  • Jennifer’s place is a beautiful, cosy annex which is perfect for weekends away or a place to stay whilst visiting friend. Very clean and lots of choice for breakfast! Would recommend to anyone and will definatly be back if the opportunity arises.

  • As the name suggests this is a small venue but is perfectly formed and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The property is tastefully decorated and well equipped. It is spotlessly clean and the hosts provide toiletries and plenty of choice of breakfast cereals. The hosts are very knowledgeable of the local area and were able to recommend excellent local eateries. Entry into the property is private and straight forward. It offers a perfect base for exploring this beautiful area.

We have a lovely room available in our home. There is a very comfortable double bed, bedside tables and a single wardrobe, tea/coffee making facilities. The private bathroom is near the bedroom. It has a bath but doesn't have a shower. Parking is available on the drive. A light continental breakfast is included.
The room is lovely and in an ideal location for exploring all that this area has to offer. There is a pub in the village which is great to walk to, you can even walk to a pub in another village! We are ideally located for Weddings and Events in the Vale of Belvoir - Langar Hall and Belvoir Castle, Bingham, Woolsthorpe by Belvoir, Melton Mowbray and surrounding area. Also we are a couple of miles from Langar so ideal for skydivers, we can see them from our garden! There is a private bathroom for guests sole use next to the bedroom, there is a bath, but NO shower. A light continental breakfast is included.
Harby is a village located for easy travel to Grantham, Nottingham and Leicester. There is a pub called The Nag's Head which serves food. There is also a shop/post office which sells everything you can think of. There is a café which is open every day except Sunday and a fuel station too!
  • Excellent no other word needed

    Lisa2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • I would thoroughly recommend a stay at Rose Cottage. The hosts are welcoming and very hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble. The only slight drawback for some guests may be that the bathroom is not en-suite and does not have a shower, though it is exclusively for guests use.(I understand that there are plans for the future.) There was a variety of toiletries available even including a calming bath oil, though this may not be necessary as the room is very quiet and away from the little used country road. In the room , which was beautifully furnished and cosy, there was a full compliment of teas, coffees etc and biscuits. I was offered a huge choice of continental breakfast items in the morning which were served at a time to suit me. A really enjoyable overnight stay .

  • Susan's place is a charming cottage in the Vale of Belvoir. Susan provides a beautiful, friendly and relaxing place to stay in the Vale of Belvoir, away from the hustle and bustle of town or city life. The breakfast was wonderful, and armed with a list of places to visit in the surrounding area provided by Susan we spent a happy time exploring and walking, with pit stops at local pubs and eateries. The Nags Head in Harby is within walking distance, which provides meals in the historic pub and a great place for a nightcap and to enjoy the atmosphere of a village pub.

    Christina2019-08-23T00:00:00Z

The accommodation was spotless, well-equipped, cosy, with supremely comfortable beds and lots of lovely extra touches such as croissants, orange juice and of course, the table tennis table! Without doubt we'd definitely stay here again.

    Rebecca2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was an ideal place to stay for me and my friend who live far apart but met tin the middle. Linda was such a great hot - timely responses, easy instruction and a very clean studio with lots of lovely little touches that just added the sprinkles onto the cake. Very pleasant and friendly hosts - would definitely return.

Nestled within the beautiful Belvoir Castle Engine Yard, this unique Shepherd's Hut is the perfect 'back to nature' get away with all the luxuries of the Engine Yard facilities on the doorstep. Which include a Restaurant, Cocktail bar, Day Spa, Butcher and much more! You will wake up to private views of the beautiful Belvoir Vale whilst enjoying your morning coffee! The Shepherd's Hut is fully lockable and has storage space under the bed and either side of the main desk with two coat hangers.
An ancient picturesque village in the Vale of Belvoir home to the stunning Belvoir Castle. The Vale itself is the home of Melton Mowbray pork pies, stilton cheese, superb pubs, fine local ales and fruit cordials. Visitors can also enjoy the beautiful countryside and discover the fantastic food the region has to offer. Just one mile away, the village of Woolsthorpe located in a designated conservation area boasts evidence of medieval occupation and nestles alongside the River Devon on the border with Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. The ancient market town of Grantham lies in the heart of Lincolnshire, between historic Lincoln and Stamford. The town is best known as the birthplace of former Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, and has a fine Gothic Guildhall and pretty riverside walks with adjacent water meadows and associated wildlife. There is a wide array of restaurants, tea rooms and pubs with plenty of scope for a shopping trip, along with many manor houses and walled gardens nearby to visit. Grantham is surrounded by rolling countryside and pretty woodland, with nearby Ponton Park Wood offering walks and lovely views across its forest and farmland. The city of Lincoln, Melton Mowbray and Stamford are all within easy reach and well worth a visit.
  • A magical location to stay and wake up in. Communication was excellent and the welcome was wonderful. Louise had already started the wood burner as it was a chilly evening. It does get very warm, so don't feel like you have to put too many logs on.... Like me. Good cocktails in the Balloon Bar and a good Bacon Butty for breakfast from the Fuel Tank Restaurant. Managed to buy a few Christmas presents from the stores at the Engine Yard too. A great weekend.

    Michael2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect quaint & idyllic spot to escape from the normal hustle and bustle of life. We would 100% recommend this stay. EVERY single person we met through our trip went above and beyond to welcome us & the location was just perfect. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at a local pub (The Dirty Duck), a fab night at the Balloon Bar, Breakfast in the Fuel Tank, stroll around the castle gardens and then a guided tour around the Castle itself. We will be booking another little getaway very soon. Absolutely fantastic.

    Laura2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little night away. The fuel tank restaurant was lovely and delicious food and the cocktail bar was beautiful and unique. Should a lovely place and lovely staff. We will be back.

    Adele2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The shepherd's hut on the Belvoir Estate at the engine yard was so idyllic and very cute to stay in. It exceeded our expectations, it was a lovely nights stay in a rural setting of Belvoir vale. The convenience of a lovely restaurant and balloon bar on your doorstep made it extra special. Trying an amazing cocktail and the experiencing the beautiful decor is a must! The lovely stove inside the Shepherds Hut kept us warm all night long and a cosy double bed felt spacious and very comfortable. There was also a little bit of luxury added with the complimentary smellies and snacks left for you in the hut too. Alice, our host met us on arrival and was very sweet, she gave us a little tour of the area and also showed us everything we need to know regarding the hut and fire stove and introduced us to the little shetland ponies that were in the field next to us. I would totally recommend staying at least two nights to fully experience everything this little hut and surroundings has to offer! Will be booking again soon :) Thank you to all the staff at the engine yard :) x

Great location for getting around and was great value for money - Jo provided a lovely breakfast which was a nice touch. We would highly recommend staying at Jo’s!

  • We were working nearby at Belvoir castle for an event. The location was fantastic for this taking is only 7 mins to travel to and from the castle. We arrived to a beautiful garden and wonderful room with everything we needed. A very comfortable bed and a powerful shower made the stay extra relaxing. With fresh cut flowers and all the books you’ll ever need for a chilled out evening in the room. There’s a closeby pub/restaurant with decent and hearty food at really reasonable prices and you’ll have breakfast provided for you in the morn. Thanks so much we really enjoyed the stay.

The property is clean, the bed comfortable and there is an additional Snug room to relax in and breakfast cereal and toast was served in a separate dining room. The hospitality and welcome was only surpassed by the large friendly dogs and the neatness of the surrounding garden. If you don't like dogs do not worry as they are confined to separate rooms. We highly recommend this property and look forward to returning and they will soon be Super Hosts

  • Staying at Andy and Lisa's place was a truly unique experience. First of all, the place is stunning and totally unusual, beautiful and stylish. There are the little gestures as well like fresh fruit and fresh bread, good supply of toiletries and fluffy towels, attention to detail throughout. Then there is Andy. What can I say? Genuinely kind and generous, truly helpful and out of his way to make your stay as comfortable as possible, making you feel at ease right away, and smiling no matter what. I hadn't felt that welcome in a long time, thank you Andy. I totally recommend staying at Hall Farm, even in pouring rain and windy days.

  • We were visiting family in nearby Grantham and Lincoln so Sally's place was really convenient. The pictures don't do the apartment justice, it is light and airy, and so clean. We popped to the local supermarket (ASDA) before arriving to buy some food for tea, the kitchen is well equipped. Sally left a hamper with milk, butter, bread, cereals and jam. The beds are both really comfy. The sofa bed is so easy to pull out. Sally had a selection of toys and my two year old loved the tub of dinosaurs, he played with them for hours! Thanks for a lovely stay. Charlotte

You can look forward to a warm welcome in our family home near Belvoir Castle. We are two fields from neighbours and nowhere near streetlights, so you will find peace & quiet with amazing stars! You'll have an ensuite bathroom & use of ground floor.
The house is quite literally in the middle of nowhere... There are plenty of horses and people around most of the time though. The room offers a very comfortable double bed and there is an open log fire in the sitting room in winter.
You would love the silence and the chattering of the birds! Very little mobile signal though so peace is almost guaranteed.
  • Down to earth, cool family 👏

    Amy2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay in the middle of nowhere, being quite and sucluded was perfect. The family members made Benji and myself feel at home within minutes of arrival and they were so welcoming too. Good information regarding local amenities and local walks, which was handy as I took my Dog. The room I stayed in was nice, clean, well maintained and decorated and the same can be said of the bathroom. I like the place that much, I will be booking again next year.

    Mark2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely family home in the middle of nowhere but very handy for the Viking way walkers (or other local walks). They have beautiful dogs; the friendliest we have ever met. The hosts were both kind and welcoming but also left us to our own devises and made us feel at home. Definitely recommend staying.

It was lovely to walk in the local area the next day and we look forward to returning.

  • We enjoyed a lovely stay in a fantastic cottage. It was sparklingly clean and far more spacious than we expected. We really appreciated the little bits Dan left for us such as coffee, cookies, bread, milk etc... they went down very well!! The tips for local attractions and restaurants really helped us to make our mind up on what to do in an area we aren’t too familiar with. Dan was always helpful and quick in replying to any message we sent to him before our stay and I’d highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in a marvellous part of the country in a equally marvellous cottage. Thank you.

Set in the heart of the beautiful Belvoir Valley with stunning views of Belvoir castle and the rolling hills and countryside sits our detached farmhouse property. We have extensive grounds and garden inclusive of patio area, fairy garden and animal paddocks housing our resident Shetland ponies, Alpacas, Chickens and Rabbits. There is a play room equipped for children aged 0-5 and a lounge with musical instruments, puzzles, games and craft activities. An ideal place for a mini farm break.
This home is designed to experience the holistic approach to living. It has been sensitively furnished inkeeping with the properties age and surroundings. If you are a lover of ultra modern, minimalistic, surroundings then we aren't for you. But if you want to collect fresh eggs with your children, walk and groom the ponies, feed the alpacas, take long walks, do a spot of fishing, go cycling and experience the sense of healing that pasture view has to offer then we would love you to join us and share in the experience. With Belvoir castle on our doorstep that offers public viewings and open gardens/walks and the Engine Yard shopping centre which boasts a garden centre, unique gift shops, a café/restaurant, a butchers and delicatessen, an antique store and lovely childrens play area. In the village itself there is a shop, a play area, 2 exceptionally good pubs with great cuisine and are very family friendly. There is access to Grantham canal which has scheduled boat trips and a fantastic cycling/walking riverside route. There are fishing lakes just up the road from our house where daily fishing passes are available to purchase. If you are looking to escape the drudge of everyday living and breathe fresh air, feel the wind in your face and want to get your wellies dirty then this could be the place for you. Extra services are available on request including angel card readings, indian head massage and reiki treatments.
We fell in love instantly with the village and its surroundings. It has a unique feel of healing about it and when you stand at the top of the garden and look out to the far reaching views of Belvoir castle and the countryside surrounding it, you feel a sense of warmth and as though all your troubles and worries slip away. It is like a fairytale setting with the castle elevated in the distance, in fact one Australian visitor to our home said it reminded him of a scene from 'Postman Pat' a typical British rural village with idyllic views and living. Cyclists, walkers and horse riders are common place, with wild deer, pheasants, buzzards and flocks of sheep are the norm.
  • Dee and John and Dee's mum were lovely and very warm welcoming. The breakfast was good and the play room for my little one was fab. Would definitely recommend it.

  • Great place to stay & have a small farm experience with lovely hosts. Amazing part of the country & loads to do nearby. Would totally recommend a stay.

    Darren2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is the best Airbnb we have ever stopped at. Dee and John were the most fabulous hosts! They helped with everything we needed and truly lovely people. My two children were in heaven feeding the animals and playing with them and they were all so tame. Collecting the eggs in the morning. We had a rainy day but with the playroom the musical instruments and crafts my girls were happy and always occupied. It was top notch. The surrounds are stunning! The house is absolutely lovely with lots of character and plenty of history. The breakfast is a yummy continental style breakfast with fresh hot bread rolls, cereals, yogurts and a selection of meats and cheeses. It’s a five plus star from our family for the experience of being on a small holding farm. With plenty to do. Great food and fantastic hosts. Thank you Dee and John. Love the Hughes family

The Butlers room sits proudly in the eastern Dutch gable end of the Manor’s 17th Century roof. A particular feature of this characterful room is its original pegged Green oak beams, littered with original assembly marks and dating back 400 years. The room boasts splendid views from the highest point of the house, stretching out over the meadow, into the centre of the village. Once the servants’ quarters, The Butlers room is now a beautifully appointed bedroom with a king size bed, en suite with power shower, television, wireless Internet connection and tea and coffee making facilities. Please note that part of Village View’s charm is its steep and winding staircase, making this particular room unsuitable for guests with mobility issues.

  • I would say in four years of using Airbnb this was the best place we have stayed. Location, communication and hospitality could not have been better. My partner and I strangely felt like we were home here, comfortable and welcome. I really hope we get a chance to come back. If you like beer the pub 200m down the road has about 10 rotating craft ales. It’s worth coming just for this.

  • The cottage is so well designed and comfy with everything you need. We stayed a week and were able to cook ourselves some evening meals and sit out on the patio enjoying the amazing view. Its a lovely, interesting village with a pub a few mins walk away and some amazing countryside to explore. Totally recommended!

Cosy, old stone country cottage with every modern comfort surrounded by uninterrupted & breathtaking views. This completely private annexe to our home is 3 miles from Belvoir Castle. With miles of tracks, footpaths, disused railways, canal & cycle routes, this is great country to explore for all ages both on & off tarmac, on foot, bike or car. It's also well serviced with many excellent village pubs. Our local, The Wheel Inn in Branston, is 1/2 mile away or a short walk across track & fields.
The cosy sitting room has a log burning stove for cold evenings. Logs, sticks and firelighters are supplied. There is a 42" TV and ample seating on two comfortable sofas. There is a desk and power sockets under the window which looks out on to stunning views. Wifi throughout the cottage. The kitchen is well equipped for self-catering. On the first floor, there is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. The master bedroom looks out over trees and rolling pasture. The large twin room has ample storage. All the beds are especially comfortable and made up with duvets and best quality cotton sheets. There is a third bedroom with a large single bed which can be available by prior arrangement. There are two built-in wardrobes on the landing with hangers. The annexe is self-contained with its own entrance. There is separate parking for 2 cars and a stable for storing bicycles. A small garden is also available with a picnic bench. There is no barbecue. We are in a rural, very peaceful spot between two villages.
Belvoir Castle is three miles away. The house and gardens are often open to the public but please check their website for details. Next to the castle is The Engine Yard: a retail shopping village with restaurant, farm shop, garden centre, spa and other boutique shops. It is open 7 days a week and well worth a visit. Our nearest towns are Grantham, Melton, Oakham and Stamford. Other attractions include Easton Walled Garden, Belton House, Burghley House and Rutland Water.

Little Wayside is a contemporary, well-equipped bungalow located in the tranquil Nottinghamshire village of Whatton-in-the-Vale in the beautiful Vale of Belvoir. Situated between Newark, Grantham and Nottingham, nearby attractions include Belvoir Castle, Belton House, Southwell Minster and the National Water Sports Centre at Holmepierrepont. Whatton has good transport links and is only 3 miles from the busy market town of Bingham with its local shops, amenities and larger supermarkets.
Little Wayside is a contemporary, well-equipped, bungalow in a peaceful countryside village ideal for weekend breaks, walking, cycling or just chilling. We have Wi-Fi in case you can't quite cut yourself off! There is a newly-fitted luxury toilet/shower room with heated towel rail. We provide large fluffy towels too. A large, light, open living space has a TV, a DVD player and a large selection of DVDs. The really well-equipped, luxury kitchen/breakfast area is complete with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, oven/gas hob and a large fridge/freezer. There is gas central heating for cosy all year round comfort. At the end of the day there is a comfortable double bedroom with a TV and radio alarm clock. A large bed-settee in the living area can be easily converted into a very comfy additional double bed for additional guests. In the morning you can help yourself to a range of breakfast cereals, some croissants or bread with tea and coffee to start your day - there is a Nescafe 'Dolce Gusto' coffee maker available too.
Whatton is a quiet, picturesque village in the Vale of Belvoir. There are many attractive and distinctive houses in a range of architectural styles - we recommend a relaxing walk around the village to enjoy the neighbourhood. There is a small-holding opposite Little Wayside and you can often hear a variety an animals including, geese, sheep and cattle. See if you can find the Alpacas amongst the horses in the local paddocks.
  • A lovely stay in a stylish space. We had a brilliant stay with our friendly and thoughtful hosts.

    Michael2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I rented Little Wayside so that my Mum and I could visit family just up the road. The property was perfect. We were greeted by Georgia who showed us how everything worked, was very friendly and then left us to settle in. The layout is perfect and beautifully decorated. Every little detail is taken care of and there were even roses in the sitting area. There is everything you need for a continental breakfast, even milk and conserves. We had bought bacon and eggs with us and the kitchen was superbly equipped in which to cook. Moreover, there is a dishwasher so you don't need to wash up! If you were staying longer there is a washing machine. I let my mum take the double bedroom while I slept on the sofa bed. It was wonderfully comfortable. The bathroom is amazing with a great shower and lashings of hot water. You can control the heating yourself and given we were visiting on a rainy couple of days with temperatures around 7C it was very cosy. If you are a film lover like me you will be in heaven: there is a DVD player and a bookcase full of great films from which to choose. I can't recommended this Airbnb more highly and we shall definitely be using it again - 5 stars!!!!

  • This is a great little annexe with such attention to detail. Everything you could need is there for you. Super clean. Easy check in/out. The textiles in the house are lovely. Curtain, cushions, linen all make it so homely! Great extra touches. Dog blankets, flowers etc. Definitely recommend!! Really good value.

Croxton Lodge and Curlews Nest are two properties, set in a courtyard, within private grounds on the Croxton Park Estate, close to Belvoir and the town of Grantham. These cottages sleep sixteen people in eight bedrooms, all with en-suites. Croxton Lodge and Curlews Nest are a wonderful base for both families and groups of friends. This property can be available for just 8 guests in Curlews Nest please send me a message for more information.
These two stunning cottages are set in a courtyard, surrounded by wonderful private grounds, on Croxton Park Estate, 1.6 miles from the village of Croxton Kerrial, in the heart of rural Leicestershire, four miles from Belvoir and Belvoir Castle and close to the market town of Grantham. Both of these superb holiday homes are to be booked together and each accommodate eight people, ideal for families and friends to enjoy what this area has to offer. As soon as you enter the courtyard parking area you will instantly relax and be able to forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Set across from each other, you will find Croxton Lodge on the right and Curlews Nest on the left as you enter the courtyard. With an upside down layout, Croxton Lodge has the bedrooms, a shower room, games room and one of the sitting rooms on the ground floor and the sitting room and kitchen are on the first floor. This luxury property is accessed via external stone steps direct into the kitchen, which has a range cooker and then leads you through to the character sitting room with dining area, a bar area and a warming open fire. After a day out and about, or even after a long walk around the estate, there’s no better way to unwind then to get the open fire going and to pour a drink, whilst enjoying each others company. Continuing downstairs you will find another smaller sitting room, perfect as a place to spend time reading a good book in peace; this room also has doors that lead to a terrace overlooking the beautiful lake. The ground floor also contains a games room with a full-size snooker table and a shower room, and then it’s onto the bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities - a good night’s sleep is guaranteed. Within each room there’s tea and coffee making facilities, fluffy robes and three have TVs. Across the courtyard is Curlews Nest, a more modern property inside, but still with a sense of character and equally as luxurious. Set over two floors, you enter via a stable door into the light and airy open plan living area with three sets of open-tread stairs that lead you up to the first floor bedrooms with en-suites. The kitchen area has a Belfast sink, whilst the sitting area has comfy sofas. Two of the bedrooms have TVs and three have patio doors that open onto a private gravelled area. As with Croxton Lodge, within each bedroom there’s bath robes and tea and coffee facilities. Croxton Park Estate was originally an Abbey from the 12th century and then later, the early Dukes of Rutland used the estate to enjoy country sports, such as shooting and fishing. Both Croxton Lodge and Curlews Nest have been renovated by the current Duchess of Rutland. With a number of places to visit within reach, including Ponton Park Wood, Melton Mowbray, Stamford and the city of Lincoln, these two quality holiday homes are an ideal place to stay.
  • So we stayed here this weekend for my 30th birthday celebration, and what a fabulous time we all had. We were a group of mixed ages from 30 - 60 years old. The house is enormous and there is plenty of room for everyone. I especially liked the 2nd building which had a slightly more modern feel, high ceilings and exposed beams were beautiful. The decor is not for everybody but has a traditional hunting shooting theme, along with lots of memorabilia which was fantastic, including Michael Schumachers boiler suit on the wall! Had everything you needed to throw a party. The host provided dressing gowns, utensils, crockery etc and I don't remember anyone wanting for anything. The showers were cold in the morning for some reason, maybe this needs seeing to but other than that I cannot fault anything. The house was nicely decorated for Christmas which too was nice. Thank you for providing the venue for the best birthday!!

  • The accommodation and location was amazing. 14 of us stayed here for two nights for a hen weekend and we all had a great time. I had many questions before our arrival date and the hosts always answered them quickly. I would definitely recommend this place for a weekend away.

    Amy2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning place to go and relax with friends. So much to enjoy in the local countryside and all the interesting furniture and memorabilia inside. Fabulous hosts and organising team, already thinking of another excuse to go back!

  • Definitely recommend if you want a weekend away with friends! The house is great and Phil was very accommodating! Thanks again for having us.

  • What an incredible place. We had a fantastic time. It was the perfect getaway place for our reunion. It had everything we needed and the little extra touches in terms of toiletries and mini fridges made it just perfect. The surrounding area was lovely and a fantastic location. We’d love to stay again sometime.

  • This was perfect for our wedding party. The bride and bridesmaids got ready in the nest and groom and ushers in the lodge. Only slight down fall was the lodge was a shared kitchen and the dishwasher was a bit grubby so we washed pots by hand. Also struggled with enough plates/glasses/chairs for us all to eat in one lodge. Lots of positives though! Dressing gowns, toiletries, mini fridges in rooms, hospitality trays in each room. Good beds and linens. Very luxurious place and very individual in its decor which we loved. Felt like a retreat from the world which means it’s such a amazing place for a group reunion weekend. We would all definitely return for this, and may even do for our first wedding anniversary!

  • Great communal space, amazing rural location for a special get together. Host lives on site for any issues, friendly and fun place to stay (we pre-warned vegetarian guests about taxidermy/hunting theme so it wasn’t too much of a shock for them!)

    Cheryl2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic, spacious property filled with character in a stunning, peaceful, lakeside location. We received a lovely welcome pack including croissants, milk and bread in addition to a large selection of toiletries/extras in the rooms, more than in most hotels. Each room also came complete with robes and a mini fridge which was very useful. Bedrooms were furnished to a high standard. The living area was large and full of taxidermy and interesting sports memorabilia. Not to everyone's taste but fascinating to look around the extensive collection. Unfortunately the small kitchen size did let it down slightly but not enough to put us off going again. The bar was a good facility! The outdoor space was fantastic. Lovely views over the lake and we enjoyed the BBQ facilities as well as drinks in the lakeside outdoor structure. This was a brilliant property for our reunion and I would highly recommend it (as long as the taxidermy lion and polar bear, amongst others, don't scare you off!).

My home is comfortable and developed through time with affection. Airbnb is on top attic floor with steep stairs so not appropriate for those with mobility issues - sorry. Double bedroom, bathroom, TV area + kettle, second bedroom with sofa bed for two children (pre-school go free) OR couple who can cope with intimate space! Help-yourself breakfast included. Downstairs & garden accessible. Bikes available. Lively village and transport links good. Dogs welcome. Come to walk, cycle, rest, tour.
The Airbnb attic space plus own door and (steep) stairway is exclusive to guests, as is the small shower room inc. toilet. There is a double room with one bed, a lounging area +TV, plus smaller bedroom for one (or 2) other/s with a double futon sofa bed. A baby or older child is welcome - there is a small 'den' for children. However, a toddler and the stairs might not be safe, on the other hand, there is a child safety gate now. It might also be tricky for those who cannot manage stairs well. A discussion about this is encouraged. Note that the roof inclines so that it is low at the sides of rooms but there is still full height space throughout. It includes some beautiful exposed beams but has also been modernised. The decor is simple with old and contemporary mix. There is wifi and a small TV. You can hear the occasional vehicle passing and the odd bird hopping on the roof!
Village background: Craven House has old connections with Belvoir Castle estates, like some of the surrounding buildings and the church. What was the old Fleming hospital, developed by a 'good doctor' and the 'friendly society', is next door. There are many Grade II listed buildings in the immediate vicinity. The church is well worth a visit and offers free wifi during the day! It is elegant with its own medieval beginnings, resonant with tales of the Earls of Rutland, the ‘witches’ of the 17th century, the community’s part in the wars. The old part of the village still has long houses and a few remaining walled gardens for vegetable growing. Today, with a population around 3,500, the village is swelling fast and lively with children, schools, playing fields and skate park. There is some light industry at either end of the village, including the claypigeon factory and the stilton cheese factory. Other local produce includes cereals, rape oil, honey, Belvoir cordials and porkpies. Do ask about these. Bottesford facilities: the village has a butchers, greengrocers, plus Co-op (7am-10pm including Sunday) and 'village store' (open very early to late; good selection of wine and ales). There are two pubs though they do not do food at weekends/evenings. There is a chippy, a Chinese and an Indian restaurant, plus the Poppy and Pizzini cafes. A bit more upmarket are 'Paul's' bistro and restaurant, The Thatch. All a short walk away. [Check for some closures on Sunday evenings/Mondays]. With transport, you can get to good pubs/restaurants all around the villages - or head to Nottingham. Other attractions are Belvoir Castle itself, a few miles from Bottesford, with entry to the house or/and grounds (not cheap) mostly on Sunday and Monday from Easter. Look for the castle’s Gothic silhouette when approaching the village. There is Isaac Newton’s house and garden at Woolsthorpe Manor, Woolsthorpe-by-Colsterworth, and Belton House at Grantham. [Check the postcodes of places as there are two ‘Bottesfords’, two ‘Woolsthorpes’ and two ‘Caythorpes’ – very confusing]. Of course, there are many more points of interest including life in Nottingham, the city where I grew up. Some miles drive outside the city, you can find the Dukeries, Sherwood forest, Clumber Park - the ‘Robin Hood’ territory. Rutland, the Lincolnshire Wolds and Derbyshire plus Pennines are really not that far if you wanted to travel around, and there are a number of pleasant market towns dotted about too. In the first six months of Airbnb (to end August, 2016) guests have stayed for the following reasons: walks, the national water sports stadium and rowing, sky diving at Langar airfield, tough mudding at the castle, a number of weddings, business meetings in Grantham and Nottingham, a tour of historic buildings in the area, bell-ringing, horse trials, travelling across the Midland counties, and various London-Scotland trips...welcome all Europeans!
  • Harriet’s place was perfect for a relaxing weekend, it was so cosy and had all the local amenities that we needed. We would definitely stay again!

    Charlotte2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place, with a real family feel to it. A fully stocked kitchen with utensils and pans etc was a great bonus. It is a lived in house, so it has all the quirks living alongside someone else brings, but it wasn’t an issue for me and my children, we were given space and privacy all weekend.

Situated in the centre of a beautiful Leicestershire village between Melton Mowbray (6.7miles) and Grantham (10 miles). Formerly a stable block, the stone annex offers a double bedroom with King size bed, sitting room, bath with shower and kitchenette all renovated to a high standard. The warm and cosy annex is very comfortably furnished with a mixture of modern and antique furniture, crisp white bed linen and top quality bath towels and bath products. New Smart TV and Wifi.
The annex is within the grounds of Gorse Farm which has been our family home for 20 years. It is a domestic house not a working farm but we do have a large, friendly labradoodle and a cat which roam freely in the garden around the annex. We have several horses which may be in the stable yard next to the annex. Parking for your car will be on the edge of the village green just outside the gates of Gorse Farm and not on the drive itself.
Great rail links from Grantham (just over an hour to London Kings Cross) and just 14 minutes drive from A1. The closest shop and pub and deli are 1 mile away in Waltham on the wolds. There are lovely walks from the village and we will be very happy to recommend local places to eat and activities. Rutland Water is 26 minutes drive away and offers cycling, walking and water activities in summer. Belvoir Castle, Burghley House and Belton House are all within half and hour or so.

My house is close to the centre of the village of Bottesford, which is between Grantham and Nottingham and off the A52. You’ll love the peacefulness of the house and garden. It is good for big groups - please see other listings for more photos and details. The downstairs floor has a bedroom that is convenient for those who find the stairs tricky, for those with small children, and for those with a dog! There is a downstairs bathroom nearby.
For all info on the house and environs, you can read my other listing - 'lovely home near Belvoir Castle' Please note that this is normally my home and so will not be as immaculate as a 'country cottage', etc property. Some cupboards may have files or the odd thing in. Bedrooms are mostly free of stuff, however. Most guests say that the house has a very peaceful atmosphere and this is what I hope every guest will enjoy. Do, though, write in my suggestions book (hall table) with any constructive criticisms.
The village itself has some interesting old parts, especially St Mary's, the medieval church. It is popular for a number of reasons: eating facilities, weddings; as a cycling and motorbike meeting place; for nearby places of interest too such as Belvoir Castle, Belton House and Isaac Newton's house. It is a convenient place to stay as it is near so many routes, north and south, and also close to many sporting centres, eg. the National Water Stadium.
  • Great time away for New Years. Lots of little touches which made it really special.

  • Cozy house ideal for sharing with a group. Several nice places to eat just round the corner & easy to get to off the A1. Lovely enclosed garden too.

  • A lovely house and garden in a peaceful corner of a beautiful and friendly village. The house was larger than we expected and very comfortable for the six of us. We ate in quite a lot so the well-equipped and well-stocked kitchen was very welcome. Very close to Belvoir Castle (erratic opening hours, book onto the guided tour if you can; well worth the extra £2) and handy for trips to nearby Newark an Belton House. We ate out on one night at Paul's bistro which is just round the corner and amazingly good value. Didn't meet Harriet but she always responded very quickly to all our contacts.

  • A charming and quirky house in a lovely village. We used the house for a university reunion, our party was made up of 4 adults and 4 children (8months - 5 years). The sleeping arrangements were flexible, a cot, high chair and toys were all provided. Lots of lovely extra touches (champagne!) and very clear information made this a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend and definitely stay again.

  • Lovely house with lots of space to relax and explore. Our favourite space was the room overlooking the garden, which featured comfy sofas and lots of books. The kitchen had everything we needed. So many little extras provided, including plenty of breakfast choice - thank you. A great dining area and front lounge too, plenty of room for us all to relax. The attic space was cosy, with little areas for the children including toys, which they loved. Just be careful on the stairs up/down from the attic as they're steep! The garden was lovely too. Would definitely recommend Harriet's home.

  • A beautiful, spacious family home on a quaint little street with excellent local amenities at hand: corner shop, choice of good restaurants and pubs a very short stroll away. Perfect for a weekend get away for a largish group. Lots of reception space so everyone can have their own little corner. Well stocked and equipped kitchen, beautiful and rather grand dining room plus two further reception rooms. Books everywhere! Lovely enclosed garden which looked pretty even in the depths of winter. Some of the decor is still a work in progress which just added to the charm and made it feel very much like a well-loved family home rather than a stark, bland rental, but all is well maintained and immaculately clean.

The Old Manor House at Allington is situated on the fringe of the Vale of Belvoir and in a tranquil Lincolnshire village with excellent road links. It offers a unique blend of beautiful and restful country life along with a variety of more lively attractions close to hand.
The Footman's room nestles in the north eastern Dutch gable end of the Manor’s 17th Century roof. A most notable charm of this room is its original pegged Green oak beams, peppered with original assembly marks and dating back 400 years. The room’s position at the highest point of the house affords beautiful views over the field towards the village centre. Originally the servants’ quarters, The Footmans room is now a superbly appointed bedroom with a double bed, en suite bathroom with a shower, television, wireless Internet connection and tea and coffee making facilities. Please note that part of The Footman's room charm is its steep and winding staircase, making this particular room unsuitable for guests with mobility issues.
