Our space is quiet considering we live fairly central to the town centre- apart from the birds and our little people! Having lived in Edinburgh City Centre and hosted there we love meeting new people, discovering different cultures, hearing stories and sharing ours. You will be staying in a family home and are welcome to be as involved or separate as you like. Our home is not the most beautiful from the outside but our garden is a real place of rest and fun for us.
We can accommodate up to 6 people in a travelling party due to our indoor and outdoor rooms including private bathroom. Please look at our other listing for more information If you feel you need or want more room and privacy then our garden room maybe what your are after.
Our neighbourhood is very quiet and peaceful. We are an end of terrace house and have neighbours all of whom are lovely. Lindfield is a 20 minute walk through the woods and has some lovely coffee shops, especially Coffee Works, and bakeries. Likewise in Haywards Heath you have Tories in the park and Flinders on the High Street. From Haywards Heath you can easily travel to London, Brighton and Gatwick. If you'd prefer to stay local there are some beautiful local villages/forests/fields/lakes and gardens to visit. Our favourites are Wakehurst Place and Sheffield Park Gardens but these are just two of the many local options.
  • Great little find. Welcoming family home, nice cosy little room, quick response, offered the use of the kitchen to cook and to make myself at home...

Ideally located close to gatwick, and great as a base for walkers or those wanting to visit ashdown forest, south downs, or sheffield park gardens. Lindfield has three great pubs, and has a few dining options as well. Claire was a great host, the place is kept spotless, as is the garden, and the basics of tea, coffee etc are supplied, along with little touches like dressing gowns and slippers. Claire is very responsive to any enquiries, and a pleasure to communicate with.

  • Truffle Lodge is without doubt outstanding in a superb location and has been finished and furnished to a high standard. Everything you could need is supplied for a short stay and Lindfield itself has everything from coffee shops to a good selection of pubs and restaurants as well as a local Co-op should you have forgotten anything. If I am back in the area then, if available, it will be my first choice play to stay.

Our rooms are in a bright, welcoming space overlooking the communal gardens of the block of flats, just a 5 minute walk from Haywards Heath mainline station. Hablamos espanol, on parle francais, parliamo italiano :-)
You will be staying in a cosy, beautifully decorated private room with its own bathroom. The room is very quiet and overlooks the communal gardens. The room is not very big but it also has a private lounge area for you to use next door. The bathroom for your room is the only bathroom on the downstairs so other visitors to the house may use it on rare occasions. This is unlikely to occur but please be gracious in any case.
Haywards Heath lies at the heart of Mid-Sussex in the beautiful English countryside. We live in a very quiet and safe road just a short walk from the "Broadway", where you will find several restaurants and cafes.
  • Very well maintained stylish apartment, and caring welcome from Jordan and Yosvani. We stayed only 2 days commuting through Gatwick, which is only a few miles away, available by train as well. the area has some touristic interests, and all sorts of facilities. A good pick definitively. If you want to educate yourself about cigars, Yosvani knows all and will enjoy explaining about it.

    Lindfield, Mid Sussex, United Kingdom

Welcome! Come and stay in our little Cabin nestling at the bottom of our peaceful garden in the heart of of Sussex and with easy access to London and Brighton. Lindfield is an quaint old English village with a duck pond and everything you need including 3 pubs and a bakers, a grocers, and a supermarket. We are just on the edge of the rolling Sussex countryside wonderful for walking and exploring Southern England.
The Cabin is cute-sized and has a comfortable double bed and a small desk with a chest of draws and easy chair. Extra storage space is available in the house for longer term guests. The Cabin door is small so you will need to bow/duck to enter and those of us under 6'6" will be able to stand up straight once inside. The accommodation is neat but basic and a little bit funky like a glamping experience. You will sleep well in a secluded garden location away from the main house and away from the road. Perfect for those wanting a peaceful place to stay close to the lovely village of Lindfield and within easy reach of London and Brighton. The season closes when nights get to cold in which is usually early in October. Helps to have a car to get around. The main house has a lounge space for you to use if you wish but there is no TV. The shared bathroom has a shower over the bath. You can use the practical and convenient galley kitchen and use the washing machine and garden line dryer. You can have a shelf in the fridge should you need. There is reasonable wifi reception in the Cabin. All Good!
From The Wiki: The village stands on high ground above the upper reaches of the River Ouse. It is situated close to both the natural beauty of the High Weald and to Haywards Heath with its amenities and station on the main London-Brighton railway line. The High Street follows an ancient north-south track that has existed for thousands of years, long before the Romans built a major road, the London to Brighton Way, a mile to the west of the village. Lindfield first appeared as Lindefeldia, 'open land with lime trees', in a Saxon charter of 765 AD, in which King Ealdwulf granted lands for the building of a Minster church. When the Domesday Book was compiled the lands were held by the Archbishop of Canterbury.[4] King Edward III recognised the importance of medieval Lindfield and in 1343 granted the town a royal charter to hold a market every Thursday and two annual eight-day fairs. For centuries the fairs continued each April and August with the summer fair becoming one of the largest sheep sales in Sussex.[5] Lindfield was once part of the thriving Wealden iron industry. As early as 1539, William Levett of Buxted, a county curate with a thriving sideline in iron and armaments, was recorded as extracting iron ore at Lindfield. Later the Henslowe family of Lindfield were actively engaged in the iron milling business in association with Ralph Hogge, parson Levett's former servant and later a major ironmaster in his own right.

  • Wonderful little cabin in a quiet British town. Great spot to explore the surrounding area or just relax and enjoy the quiet atmosphere.

  • Could not recommend more! Stephen was a wonderful host and very generous with letting us use his kitchen, living room and garden along with the cabin. The cabin itself was as described, a little nippy at night but Stephen provided blankets and an electric radiator which quickly fixed that. We will definitely be returning.

  • I booked 4 days beforehand, being the closest to a course I was doing the weekend in the area. The Hosts communication was fast & details impeccable. Thank you for a wonderful home away from home for a night 😊 Hope to come back again soon.

  • This is an absolute gem of a place - I can’t rate it highly enough. It’s all down to the hosts going that extra mile to make things comfortable and easy with a lovely atmosphere thrown in. Deserves more than five stars.

    Cheryl2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Oliver were amazing hosts. They are a very kind and thoughtful couple. We had a great time sharing our stories about all the travels. They offered to give me a lift from work one evening when the weather was bad. There is also some light breakfast every morning which is very thoughtful. This is probably one of the best Airbnb’s I have ever stayed at. I would definitely recommend staying at their place.

    Asma2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Anna and Oliver's flat. It is modern, very clean and very well equipped. We loved the little touches, such as chocolates to greet us. It was easy to check in. The bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately we were busy, so we didn't meet Anna and Oliver until we were about to leave. We would highly recommend staying here and we hope to come back next time we are in the area.

The bedroom is a large newly refurbished double bedroom with a bay window in a large detached family home. It is a bright and airy modern room. The floor is insulated wooden flooring and has a new radiator, so is very cosy. Bedding and towels plus kettle and drinks will be provided. The room has wardrobe and draw space plus a built in desk area with plug points - useful for a student or a business visitor. The house is also very close to the station with regular trains to London and Brighton.
It is a family home and there are two children living here. They are really well behaved children nonetheless if guests don't like children in their accommodation then this won't be the place for you :). This is also a musical house and there is a piano etc. Music practice will happen usually in early evening but not at unsocial hours and is rather pleasant. I should draw this to guests attention as not everyone will like this.
It is a quiet residential area so if someone is looking for a peaceful stay then this is the place. We are on the very edge of town and by a nature reserve close to lots of lovely walks and places to visit in the Southdown national park and the beautiful Sussex Countryside. We are also close to the Coast for those that want a bit of beach life.

  • Jennie was a fantastic host. I don't think that anyone else could improve the role she demonstrated. She welcomed us to do a tour of her home for us and was so warm and friendly that after an hour or so, we felt like we'd known her for years. Her home was lovely and comfortable and she gave us plenty of tips during our stay there. The value was superb too. A perfect weekend. Thank you Jennie!

Bright, single room in my clean & comfortable home. Simple breakfast included: fresh coffee/tea & cereal/toast. You're welcome to use the kitchen for more. My home is a Victorian terraced cottage in a quiet neighbourhood, within easy walk of local shops, town and both Burgess Hill & Wivelsfield stations. NowTV in room, fast wifi everywhere, shared bathroom and well-equipped kitchen, plus lounge & garden, with gas BBQ. Washing machine & local gym/pool access... let this be your home from home!
Relaxed, welcoming and tidy household. Just one 40-something male living here - and no pets! I tend to eat from my lap in front of the TV, but there's also a suitable table available in the back room.
There's bags of character and good amenities nearby, including parks, pubs, shops, cafes, gyms and a decent indoor pool. Whilst staying with me, you get guest access to The Triangle leisure centre, including gym, pool, courts and classes.

  • I stayed at Tim's place for a month and for the second time now. He is a great host not only for a short-term, but also for a longer-term. He is guest-friendly and open-minded. The guest room is nice and comfortable and the place is at a good location (just 15 min. from Burgess Hill Station).

  • Tim is a great host. Having recently migrated from India,Tim made the whole process of adjusting to a new place really simple. His place is sparkling clean. Tim does take the time out to show you the place around and most airBnB host's don't do that. I would really recommend it to people who want a place like home away from home.

  • We had a wonderful few days at The Stable. The property is beautifully done, spotlessly clean and incredibly stylish without losing its country charm. Beja's little touches like the toiletries, bread, butter, eggs and milk (with some condiments, cereals etc in the cupboard) were really lovely. There are rolling fields surrounding the area with donkeys, chickens and sheep in the field next to the huge garden at the back of the property. We were lucky enough to visit during lambing season and our two small children witnessed some lambs being born by the local shepherd Clive. The town of Cuckfield is tastefully done too and there are plenty of walks nearby. We highly recommend this wonderful air bnb and cannot fault anything.

    Jody2020-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t recommend this place enough. Amazing host, beautiful accommodation and surroundings. Gorgeous walks and all the wildlife you could want!! We will be back!!

    Emma2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this stay is brilliant, and Beatrix is a very kind and generous host. The stable has been converted in such an interesting way and there are lots of special and quirky touches architecturally! The photos really don't do the place justice. It was very clean and comfortable, and there is everything you would need and hope for in a place that has a kitchen so it's easy to cook. We really appreciated being provided with nice teabags, coffee, fresh bread, milk, cereal and even some pantry supplies such as pasta, sauce, baked beans, salt and pepper etc. The bathroom is great and the shower is hot and powerful. Lots of towels and and some nice toiletries supplied. Comfy beds! You are surrounded by fields and we enjoyed seeing the donkeys, chickens, sheep and cat. Lots of good and easy walks around. It's a fantastic place to stay!

    Leila2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the best places we have ever stayed in and it was a shame it was only for two nights. It was beautifully presented and the attention to detail was 2nd to none. Accommodation itself was absolutely stunning and very quirky but presented to an extremely high standard. The attention to detail is 2nd to none with lovely added extras such as bathrobes, Toiletries, Flowers on the table and we even managed to get Netflix!! The location was perfect looking out at donkeys in the field and just a five minute walk to the beautiful village nearby where there were several restaurants and pubs. When we arrived Beatrix came out to meet us straight away with a lovely warm welcome which kicked off the weekend just perfectly. We would definitely revisit if we were in this part of the world again and stay for longer.

    Kate2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb completely blew us away for quality and style. The accommodation was absolutely beautiful and Beatrix Provided all the extra little special touches that made our stay just perfect. It was also exceptionally clean. Love the style and quirkiness of this property. Great weekend!

  • What an amazing property and host. We spent two really relaxing and comfortable nights here while visiting friends. The Stables is warm, stylish and contemporary with lovely additional touches such as high end toiletries, a welcome pack of essentials, numerous warm fluffy towels, a fabulous shower and cosy bedding. The location, if a little tricky to find at first, is perfect for the area and for an easy stroll to the Cuckfield itself and its lovely pubs. It is spotlessly clean and wonderfully quiet with good wifi and loads of outside space and seating. Beatrix is the perfect host, met us on arrival, went through all we needed to know and provided really clear contact details for us. The whole weekend was so perfect, we didnt need to take her up on anythinhg else and were really sorty to leave. Taxis were able to find us and drop us off as necessary and there is parking right next to the building. It really was great and I am so pleased with our find. Thank you Beatrix!

  • One of the best stays ever. A beautiful little cottage close to all the local amenities and very convenient for Gatwick. The open fire was wonderful and Ed has provided for everything and more. I would use it again without hesitation.

    Neil2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This gorgeous cottage was the perfect spot for a much needed getaway. The decor is warm and cosy, there’s plenty of space and a real kitchen- not just a microwave and kettle! The location is ideal for local pubs and walks but also for exploring further afield to London or Brighton. It was spotlessly clean and so easy to keep warm with central heating and a fire. We will certainly visit again! Ed was an excellent host with quick and clear communications, and gave us space to just enjoy our time away. Thanks Ed!

    Erin2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a little gem, in the beautiful Sussex countryside. A very comfortable cottage with its own garden & an added bonus of a log fire for the cold evenings. Will mention stairs to the 1 bedroom are on the steep side for those with mobility probs. Otherwise a cosy, very clean, well equipped & especially comfortable cottage. Ed is there if you need any help. But we liked it as were left to let ourselves in to discover & were able to relax. Thank you! We'd love to visit again!!

    Louise & Robert2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is cosy, very clean, authentic and modern at the same time! The fireplace made the experience even better! It was a pleasure to stay there and we highly recommend it! Ed was very welcoming and approachable! PS Ardingly cafe is 2mins walk from the cottage - a nice place for breakfast!

    Barbara2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • A really quaint cottage in a perfect location. Close to pub, an excellent Chinese takeaway, bakery and post office selling essentials. The bed is super comfortable. Parking is on road but we found a space easily and there’s a free car park nearby if you prefer. Some low doors so watch your head. Bring milk and other essentials or go to post office. Great communication from host. Overall we loved it.

We are nestled in two acres of private gardens and woodlands also being so close to must see places like Bluebell railway and Sheffield park gardens.Lewes (20 min dr) Brighton (30 min dr) and London (1 hr dr) we are also only 20 min from Gatwick. We have a horse, pony and at last count 10 chickens and a friendly cockerel. The studio has a separate entrance away from the main house and is a self contained apartment with a double bed, kitchenette and lounge area.
A relaxed and friendly enviroment with lots of surrounding space and gardens.Although wi fi is offered this service can be intermittent due to our rural location. Please note when using sat nav that when it says "Destination on right" we are actually on the left! same for "Desti nation on the left" we are on the right!
We are semi rural but within reach of many great pubs and attractions.
  • Spacious and peaceful. All the mod cons and a great location to gain access to all of Sussex.

    Kerry2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The property is comfortable, cosy and stylish. It is very quiet and quite often the only noise you can hear is the rustling of the trees. Being from the city this is a novelty and exactly the kind of place I was looking for to relax while working away from home. It is well equipped and gives all the comforts of home in a well thought out space. Hugh was quick to respond and answered any questions I had, however, the information pack included has everything you will need for local food and pubs, medical emergency, local tourist sites etc. You could literally turn up here with no plan and be certain to find lots of exciting things to do. On arrival, I was able to check-in using the lockbox and Hugh had kindly left fresh milk, croissants and fruit. Overall I can't fault the place, it's a simple, affordable and practical for those who need a place to relax while travelling. Thank you.

  • Brilliant location. Short drive to shops such as tesco express and a large waitrose but also secluded enough to get away from city life. An extremely cute and cosy property. We planned to go out for dinner but stayed in on both nights as we liked the place so much.

    Tanya2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Clear quick communication. Lovely place and peaceful location. Big space. Has a very comfortable bed. Hugh prepared nice fruit, fresh milk and few croissants for breakfast.. Bath take a little time to fill up but it didn’t bother us too much. Definitely recommended!

    Erin2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Hugh is a wonderful host. Myself and my boyfriend only stayed a night but felt really comfortable and at home and the whole time. The annexe was not only beautiful and spacious, but also really cosy - the heater kept us warm in the evening, and the bed was SO comfortable - neither of us wanted to get up! Breakfast and fresh milk was also waiting for us, which was a welcome thoughtful touch. We wandered over to The Bull pub in Newick, which was lovely - open fire and friendly staff. Hugh’s information and guidance helped us have a good time and kept us safe (particularly considering we didn’t have a car!). Thank you so much! Absolutely can’t go wrong with this place. Will definitely recommend to friends visiting the area.

Jeanne prepared us a lovely continental breakfast each morning, a cup of tea whenever we needed one and provided local area information. She is quick to help out with any questions or concerns. The house is located in a beautiful quiet neighbourhood and you can easily walk or bus to town. While eating breakfast in the dining room you will enjoy watching the birds at the feeder.

  • Our stay at Lakeside Retreat was even better than expected. It really is completely remote and tranquil. The outside space is stunning and you can walk the land for hours taking in the wildlife. We even sat outside for a while both evenings making use of the Chimenea. My 10 year old son had the best time. Before arriving we were a little bit concerned we would be a bit cold in the lodge but we took layers and with the two electric radiators we were actually really toasty. We also took a trip to the local pub, the Cock Inn which had a very welcoming atmosphere and great pub grub! I cannot recommend this place highly enough and we hope to return again....perhaps in the summer!

    Sarah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in James's cabin. The location was beautiful and it was remote enough to feel as though you're out in the country, but close enough to shops to stay connected. James was prompt and clear with communication. Having stayed in the winter, I can imagine that in the summer it'd be amazing to have the doors open and have dinner on the decking.

    Izzy2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • James Lodge was very tranquil and a real retreat to get away for pure relaxation. There is no WiFi and just a small TV so If peace is what you are looking for this is the place to be. There is no central heating so do wrap up . We did however have two heaters which were adequate but if you feel the cold like me a fleece and big socks will do fine. The surrounding walks etc were beautiful and we made some lovely friends ( being two gorgeous horses!) Overall a lovely stay and was sad to checkout. Will be back to experience it in the Summer. Oh just to add the beds were one of the comfiest I have stayed in!! Great nights sleep! Thanks guys!!

Excellent isolation space. Lovely shepherds hut in an area of outstanding natural beauty 2 fields from the Bluebell Railway, a restored steam railway, close to the Ashdown Forest. The hut is cosy, in a lovely private garden for your sole use. Comfy bed, french linen bedding, and wood burner. Good for couples, solo adventures and dogs. Outside cook space is complete with a barbecue as well as gas hob. 72 hour gap between guests as a Covid19 protection.
The hut has mains electricity and water. A great hot shower in the ensuite bathroom plus hot water for the outside sink. There is a double gas burner outside as well as the barbecue. Plenty of logs and kindling for the wood burner and enough charcoal for one good barbecue.
The hut is just off an unclassified country lane. It is not in a village. This is a quiet country area with a great deal of wild life in the surrounding woodland. It is about one hour's walk (6 minutes drive) to a pub and, if you walk, take a torch at night. Nearest shops are Sharpethorne, Lindfield and Haywards Heath. If coming by train, pick up supplies in Haywards Heath. Alternatively, have groceries delivered by a supermarket.
  • Such a lovely, well thought through place, lovely private garden and everything you need laid on. The bed is so comfy, slept so well. Would love to see it in spring and summer so will be back!

  • The Hut was clean, well equipped and in a good location to be both remote and surrounded by the sounds and sights of a rural location yet not too far from facilities in Ardingly, was good all round and Sue was a great host! Steam train from Horsted Keynes Station worth a visit.

  • A stunning shepherds hut, so well thought out as a space. We really enjoyed our time here. We hiked through the woods to the bluebell vineyard for a tour and tasting, loved the plaw hatch farm shop and found the outdoor kitchen perfect for autumnal stews. An excellent break.

  • Beautiful Shepard’s hut with an amazing shower in a peaceful location. Perfect weekend! Would recommend.

  • We had such a lovely time! We only wish that we could have stayed much longer. Sue was very forgiving and accommodating with our Friday evening traffic issues on our trek from Cornwall to Forest Row. It would be easy to stay here all week and just venture out for walks and supplies to Tablehurst and Plaw Hutch. Whilst we were here, we had work to do but it was lovely all the same. Highly recommend.
