South Lakeland Leisure Village is a wonderful 5 star rated holiday park on the edge of the Beautiful Lake District. This 4 bedroom lodge is wonderfully situated for couples and for family holidays. The lodge is situated on the side of the lake with a decking area, with a fantastic sunken hot tub. The hot tub belongs exclusively to the lodge and is not shared. There is Wi-Fi, of around 3-5Mb included free of charge. The site has a Gym and a family friendly pool, for an additional charge.
There are 4 bedrooms. 1 is a 5' queen bed, 1 is a 4'6" double and there are 2 rooms, both with 2 single beds in them. The master bedroom has an en suite shower room with a toilet, shower and sink.
The lodge is only 30 minutes from Lake Windermere and the whole of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are within driving distance.
  • Lovely place! Had a great weekend in the lodge. And the hot tub was a fab addition! :) Kev was super helpful and sent all the info and instructions the morning I checked in. The park was lovely too. It was very peaceful and the lodge had great views of the lake. The pub and restaurant was fab, with nice food and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend this listing and host!

Cottage in the Southern Lake District. Also within reach of Lancashire, the Kent Estuaryand Dales. 8km from Kendal-walking, dining out and culture! You’ll love my place because of the beautiful setting, the cosy cottage, canal walks and beautiful sunsets over the bay. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and furry friends (pets). Please note this is a double room, but have single mattress for third guest if requested! I have a collie, Jess, who is very friendly!

    Stephen2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say.. We had a brilliant stay at Rachel’s. The house is in a beautiful location with rolling Cumbrian countryside and ideal for getting to the lakes and dales. The house has a really homely feel and because Rachel was out a lot we often had the house to ourselves. Rachel was very kind and advised us on some good places to visit/walk. Excellent value for money and we would definitely rebook.

Semi-detached house built 2008 in the pretty Cumbrian village of Holme. 3 bedrooms, sleeps 5. Great for the Lake District, but also for the Yorkshire Dales, and very local to Arnside & Silverdale AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) & Leighton Moss RSPB bird reserve.
You will be on your own in our house, which is our second home. We bought in this location because not only is it handy for the Lake District and other beauty spots, it's also very easy to get to, with quick access to and from the M6. There is a bus from the village into the Lake District, but as you need to bring your own bed linen and towels (please see 'Other Things to Note' below!), a car is fairly essential.
30 minutes by car to Windermere, a few minutes more to other South Lakes areas like Coniston. Keswick in the northern Lake District takes longer, but the drive is beautiful and part of the day out. Our village of Holme has a great village pub, canal walks with families of swans, a children's playground and our local mountain Farleton Fell. A quick stroll up there gives lovely views of the bigger fells to the North, and Morecambe Bay!
  • STOP! Do not look ANYWHERE else. Christina is a fabulous host. Clear communication is one thing, but warmth and interest and welcomes galore is another. This is not an Air B N B - this is simply a home away from home that if you choose you will feel honoured to treat like your home too.

    Brett2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a few nights at the end of December. Christina’s place is nice and cosy in a quiet neighbourhood. Leading up to and during our stay we had excellent communication with Christina. Would recommend and would stay again. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.

    James2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect trip as always and a truly perfect place to stay - why bother looking elsewhere.

    Brett2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • A traveler can expect a clean, well organized, & comfortable home with ample space with all amenities. It is located in a beautiful area, consisting of a village shop, ( always a convenient place to have close by ) & a wonderful pub with great food. There is also a bus route, which is also a convenience if you don’t want to drive into places like Kendal or Lancaster. My stay was a pleasant experience, & the host was very helpful & kind.

    Susan2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay here. This is a nice gateway area to the Lakes and a short drive to popular tourist spots. The house was clean and tidy with good facilities and lots of space for our family of 5. Would highly recommend.

    James2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • For us Christina was super easy to work with. Especially appreciated the communication with WhatsApp (easy and quick). Her responses were quick and helpful The location was perfect for us, close to everything we wanted to see and do. The local pub and shop were handy and everyone was friendly.

    Mari2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Holme in what is a lovely, quiet and friendly village. The house is just as described, is very comfortable and ideal for exploring the Lake District. The house has everything you could need for meals in, the beds and sofa are very comfortable and the shower hot and powerful after a day on the Fells. Christina has kindly left guidebooks and maps to help with planning visits and days out. There is so much to see and do and we will have to go back. Christina was very attentive and keen to make sure all was well - which of course it was! We can highly recommend this property and host. Our Spaniels enjoyed their holiday and are currently sleeping off their exertions. We can highly recommend the local walks along the canal and a climb up the local Farleton/Holme Park Fell. A rare and spectacular Limestone pavement.

  • Jayne’s cottage is super lovely and cosy. The perfect getaway from reality, surrounded by little villages. The cottage was clean and snug with little amenities such as tea and our names written on the chalkboard. Jayne was great with communicating directions and other tips for the area. We had a very enjoyable time!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Barnside cottage including our dog Molly. It had everything we needed and more. Loved the nice little touches which made it extra special. Location was perfect for us, so much so that we would definitely like to come back and do more exploring. Jayne was very helpful, friendly and communication via messages were quick. Thanks!

  • This is a fantastic little cottage. Jayne is a great host and leaves some really nice touches around the cottage. The cottage is we equipped with cooking utensils which was ideal for us as we cooked and ate in as we were with out dog. A great location to explore a variety of areas such as the Lake District, the western side of the dales and arnside. Supermarkets and pubs within driving distance but a nicr retreat away from the busyness of other areas. Would definitely stay again and Jayne was a great host. Quick communication, very accomodating and welcoming, lovely little touches and always there if you need her but allows you your own space.

    Tomas2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely stunning, cosy, little cottage. Situated off the beaten track but well located to easily explore local sights. It felt like a home from home, kitted out with all mod cons along with some sweet homely touches with a Lakeland feel. I would definitely recommend this place.

Rock Cottage is a bijou detached two bedroom character cottage nestled in beautiful woodland, on the edge of the peaceful Kent Estuary village of Storth. Found in the Arnside Silverdale Area of Outstanding Beauty in South Lakeland. Immerse yourself in the beautiful woodlands or within a mile you can stroll to the coast. For excellent walking from the doorstep, cosy evenings in front of the fire, and within a stagger of a great pub. Lake District attractions are only 30 minutes away.
Guests can enjoy the privacy and relaxation that comes with staying in our little chocolate box country cottage. The perfect romantic retreat or a base for exploring the beautiful outdoors, Rock Cottage is full of character, and we’re sure you’ll enjoy relaxing with a glass of wine in the private natural garden, or in front of the wood burning stove, at the end of your day. There are no street lights or traffic noise to keep you awake at night, but you will probably hear a few owl hoots! The king size bed has a super comfortable mattress, so if you plan to make an early start you may want to set an alarm. Rock Cottage is situated in the edge of woodland just outside the village of Storth. Both the beautiful coast and a great pub, The Ship Inn, are Less than half a mile away from the doorstep. The small village of Storth is situated on the tidal estuary of the River Kent and within the Silverdale and Arnside Area of Outstanding Beauty on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The local area is a haven for wildlife, the National Trust stating “the mix of wildlife that you can see in Arnside and Silverdale is like no other place in the country”. The combination of different habitats; the coastal climate, woodland, limestone pavement and grassland attract many species of birds and butterflies that would not normally be seen in the same region. The area is known for its wildflowers too. There are many beautiful walks nearby suitable for those who just like a stroll to those who like to be out for hours. Beetham Fairy steps is a lovely walk from the cottage, remember to make your wish whilst there. Or follow the beautiful coastline to Arnside and savour a delicious treat from The Old Bakehouse. Arnside Knott with its stunning views across Morecombe bay with the lake district mountains behind has been attracting visitors for over 100 years. In this designated area of natural beauty there is always something to marvel at in nature. All this and within a 30 minute drive you can be exploring lake Windermere. Of course, with the quietness of the cottage, you may just decide to curl up with a great book. The choice is yours. Guest access Guests have the whole cottage to themselves. That includes the kitchen, open plan lounge dining area, two bedrooms, family bathroom, nature garden and parking. Other things to note The master bedroom is accessible via the bunk bedroom. We therefore recommend the cottage for couples and families with children who this arrangement suits. Please use the cottage like your home. Well behaved dogs accepted for a fee with the owner’s approval.
Walks are available straight from the front door. Nesteled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty let yourself get back to nature with walks or biking straight from the cottage, or the Lakes. With Windemere just 25 minutes away it is a great place to explore the Lake district as well as Silverside and Arnside's AONB. Cumbria, England, United Kingdom Guests come to Rock Cottage to experience the beautiful outdoors. Forest and coastal walks in an Area of Outstanding Beauty with limestone pavements and rare wildlife from the doorstep, the pretty village of Arnside with possibly the best sunsets in the world just a walk or short drive away, and the main attractions of the Lake District within a thirty minute drive. You don’t need to leave the cottage to see the huge range of birdlife in the garden and surrounding woodland, and if you’re lucky you’ll spot deer browsing in the woods too. For even more wildlife, Leighton Moss RSPB wildlife reserve is very close by. There’s a great dog-friendly pub on the coast just a few minutes stroll from the cottage, and a great choice of other pubs and eateries within easy reach, most of which are also dog friendly. For practical purposes, a supermarket, petrol, and choice of take aways in the small town of Milnthorpe just ten minutes from the cottage.
  • As soon as you step into Rock cottage you immediately feel at home. There are so many thoughtful touches around the house that makes a weekend break just that bit more special. Rob and Sam are fantastic hosts who make communication prior to and during your stay, so easy. We hope to return again soon to explore more of the beautiful surroundings.

    Rebecca2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

  • We had a great time here at Rob and Sam’s cottage. They were exceptional at keeping in contact if you needed anything. We really felt like we were in our own place. The welcome goodie box was a really nice touch too. The place is clean, warm, and cosy, especially with the wood burner. This is a great place for families or just a couples get away weekend.

  • The Potting Shed is a wonderful place to stay based just outside of the Lake District (about a 15 minute drive to Lake Windermere). It’s set on a farm, but is really modern and has everything you need to make home cooked meals. The bed is really comfortable, as is the couch and the shower is amazing. We were forced to remain indoors all weekend due to the weather, but that wasn’t a problem at all, as it’s a really nice place to stay. Would highly recommend this property.

Set in a small peaceful village by the Kent Estuary. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside which leads through woodland up to Arnside Knott. You can walk for miles along the coastline. The view across the bay towards Grange-o-Sands and the mountains of the Lake District is stunning! I am a qualified Mountain Leader & can guide you on a personalised walk in the Lake District. Please note that my dog Darcy also lives here. She is happy to share her home with your dog.
House in the heart of the village. 10 minute walk down to the promenade.
  • Just left after a very relaxing 3 nights stay. Paula and Paul were very chilled. They were amazing with my dog and he got on great with Darcy. I would recommend here for anyone but particularly for dog owners and people from overseas. It reminds me more of a homestay than a B&B and you could practice English with owners and they have a wealth of knowledge about the area, which is beautiful.

  • Beech Lynette is perfect for a cosy weekend away in the Lakes. Vivien and Antonio guided us when we got a little lost en route and were very accommodating throughout our stay. The area where they live has the most beautiful views and there’s a little town nearby which has shops & everything you need not even a ten minute drive away. The home was incredibly clean and the bed was really comfortable. We were provided with items for breakfast including fresh milk and orange juice which was a lovely touch. We would highly recommend Beech Lynette and will definitely be visiting again in the future. Thank you, Vivien and Antonio, for making our little weekend away perfect!

  • What a great property. It really did feel homely for us and my dog. All of our needs were met with little touches and the complimentary bottles of wine were great. Towels and bedding provided, absolutely everything you can think of in the kitchen was provided. A great little corner plot of land with a lot of space around. The site is nice and quiet and had a lovely pub/restaurant on site. The outdoor decking would have been great if it had stopped raining long enough. I really hope to stay again in the near future!

He really went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our stay: he gave us many good recommendations on what to do and where to eat in the area, he set up the fireplace for us and even gave some chocolate to my girlfriend as we were celebrating her birthday that weekend, I can't immagine a better host.

  • The apartment is finished to a very high standard. The living room is very cosy with a lovely wood burner, just perfect for warming through as we did after a wet and wild day out and about. The Apartment is ideally located with many local walks. We used the local railway to get to Grange over Sands, we’ll worth a visit. The local pub, The Woodlands had a great selection of real ales which suited us. Silverdale also has very nice Indian Restaurant which we used for a takeaway. All in all a great apartment In a lovely location.

  • We went here as a couple for my 30th birthday, we had an amazing time, so relaxing, very close to things to do but we chose to make the most of the lodge, hot tub and on site bar, although we did pop into the nearby town of kirkby lonsdale which is great, lots of independent shops. We loved this place and although we stayed during a storm it still didnt ruin the weekend as the hot tob is undercover which is a great idea, everything was perfect and clean and were hoping to come back with friends in the summer. Thanks sheryl for making it perfect!

  • Just the perfect place for a relaxing couples stay. Really smooth check-in/out, would recommend to anyone!

    Jonathan2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Poets corner is a lovely place to switch off from your ordinary hustle and bustle of busy life, clean, cosy little place with the hot tub an added bonus. We will be back!!!

    Karl2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • From the second we arrived the place was immaculately clean, opening the fridge we were greeted to a bottle of wine, milk and fresh orange juice allowing us to start relaxing straight away rather than wait for our own wine to chill etc. Each room was spotless, there is plenty of room for 4 people and really easy access to the hot tub. It is near to a side road however the banking is high enough that traffic noise is minimal. A quiet location which also has access to a nice BBQ and picnic area close to the hot tub. Couldn't fault the place, will definitely be returning.

    Richard2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Poets corner was better than expected, it had everything we needed and more. The hot tub was gorgeous and the lodge was very spacious. We will definitely be returning!

    Lucy2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Just beautiful! The perfect little getaway for us. We had fun playing the board games, relaxing in the hot tub and treating ourselves to watching a little Netflix with a coffee in bed. Sparkling clean and excellent communication before arrival. We used the swimming pool and were happy to see a couple of vegan options in the bar/restaurant at the complex- although they didn't have any alternative milks, to cows milk, which I thought was a little odd. Thank you so much, we will definitely be recommending to friends and family.

Luxurious, warm and cosy glamping pods that are fully contained with their own bathroom, underfloor heating and kitchen. Set up on a hill in stunning countryside and on a working sheep farm, you are sure to see plenty of wildlife and beautiful night skies while in a location just 30 minutes from the Lakes, Dales and seaside. A small site for a relaxing getaway.
Our luxurious warm and cosy glamping pods are most definitely a home from home experience. The pods are fully contained with their own kitchen area and bathroom suites, supplied with underfloor heating. Within the pods there is a seating area/ sofa bed for guests to relax and watch TV, or glass doors and outdoor space if you prefer to listen to nature and watch the world pass by.
We are in the Keer Valley which is lovely and quiet, and very dark at night so you’ll be able to see the stars! Surrounded by fields with occasional farms dotted around, the river Keer borders our land as well as a railway line (close enough to see the steam trains but not so that you will be disturbed with any noise). The area is rich with possibilities, Arkholme village is a couple of miles down the road and the beautiful market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is 10 minutes away and is full of fabulous places to eat.

The beautifully converted first floor of this 18th century barn, adjacent to the owners home is located in the charming and quiet hamlet of High Biggins, surrounded by unspoiled countryside, and featuring fabulous views of the fells, ideal as a base for walkers and cyclists. Internally, the property features exposed beams, an 18th century spice cupboard and an interesting collection of decorative items, which all help to add to the unique and homely ambiance. Free high speed Broadband.
Peaceful and quiet. Beautiful views over the fells. Lovely walks from front door.Stairs up to the barn, accommodation on two levels. No light pollution, on a clear night, the sky is amazing.
    Very quiet location, beautiful scenery.
  • This accommodation, which is for 2 people, is a gem in Kirkby Lonsdale. Tina and David have thought of everything you might need. The kitchen was a delight to use and was extremely well equipped and made food preparation easy. We were there in November with cold days and it was wonderful to come back to a warm cosy barn. The imitation fire is super as you are lulled into believing it is real. The bed is really comfy with plenty of good pillows. Loads of storage spaces for clothes and plenty of hangers. Parking is just outside within the property so very safe. There are lots of walks available from the Barn and you can walk into the village within 20 mins which is very quaint with lots of eating opportunities and various shops. The lounge is fully equipped with TV, DVD and radio cassette and lots of books and local information. All that can be used on a cold winters night. Also superbly situated for the Dales or the Lakes. Would highly recommend.

  • Excellent location in an isolated hamlet, but only 15 minutes walk to the shops and pubs of Kirkby Lonsdale. A great base for exploring either the Lakes or the Yorkshire Dales, or just a nice area locally anyway. The Barn had everything we needed. Hosts responded immediately to a small problem.

  • Lovely cottage with all that we needed for our week of cycling and walking, secure cycle storage and a washing machine. We walked into Kirkby Lonsdale one evening (took about 20 mins ) and found plenty of eating places. As it was Saturday evening many places were fully booked but we managed to get a meal at The Orange Tree.

  • I just spent 2 weeks in this outstanding home away from home. The location is private, secluded, quiet and delightful. The home is immaculate with everything provided you will need. Tina & David were extremely friendly & hospitable while providing total privacy. I highly recommend this home and will definitely stay again the next time I visit the area.

  • The cottage is so beautiful and really made our week so special. I celebrated my birthday on the day of our arrival and the welcoming gesture from the host(s) were very kind. The instructions on its whereabouts were very clear and the self check-in was really handy. It is tucked away in a quiet part of the area, which is perfect for a getaway from busy everyday life. We used the cottage as a base to explore the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, which was really convenient cost-wise and location-wise. Tina's cottage had everything that we needed and more - things we had forgotten, etc. The place has a lovely character and made a great home for the week. All in all, we cannot fault our stay at Biggins - it is a perfect place to stay and thank you so much for being great hosts. We will be back.

  • Just spent a fantastic week at this beautiful location for amazing value. The accommodation is extremely well stocked. In fact, the best we’ve ever stayed in anywhere. Everything you’d need in your own home is provided for. Quite outstanding. Tina and David are delightful hosts and do all they can to help you. The accommodation is set in a stunning rural location yet only a ten minute walk to Kirkby Lonsdale where you can find some excellent places to eat and shop. There is so much to see and do in the area and if you walk like us it’s a haven. We would definitely go again and can highly recommend you to book. You will not be disappointed.

My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids, including a baby). With wonderful views to Hutton Roof Crag, Croft Cottage, a detached nineteenth century, stone-built cottage sleeping four, is tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard. It has passed down through the family and is very dear to us.
Guests have access to the whole cottage and can settle in as though it were their own. The cottage is over 100 years old and and we have tried to retain its unique character, even down to the old range in the sitting room. The coal effect in the grate, which is not a heater, can be turned on at the electric switch on the wall. No cleaning!
Hutton Roof is a small village in South Cumbria, situated between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. It lies 4 miles east of the M6 (J36), about 4 miles from Kirkby Lonsdale. This is a quiet, undiscovered area with fabulous views of the Lakeland Fells, the Howgills, Ingleborough, Whernside and Morecambe Bay. Hutton Roof Crags is one of the most impressive areas of Limestone habitat in Britain and boasts a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), an SAC, 2 NNRs and an LNR. There are walks from the doorstep. Kirkby Lonsdale is good for places to eat in the evening. Have a look at the leaflets in the porch for places to visit and places to eat.
  • Lovely place, great rural location. Comfy beds, great shower and kitchen with everything you need to prepare a meal. Lovely and snug in the windy February weather. A real find close to the lakes. I’d recommend this to anyone. We had a great stay in Hutton roof.

  • I made the decision to take my Wife (who is soon expecting another child) and my 4 year old daughter to the Lakes, normally we wouldn't go in the winter but we just HAD to get a way for the weekend. I looked around on ABNB and found this gem of a place. Right from the start I had all the information I needed sent to me by Pauline, so not alot of communication was needed by me. We arrived at the and Loved it straight away. There were no faults whatsoever. You get a key code for the front locks the Cottage is detatched so you have alot of privacy. The building is made of stone so it was very cosy inside. When you step into the property its warm as there are Heaters that automatically keep the place warm. Everything was in working order and absolutely sparkling clean the cooker and the oven work extremely well as my Wife enjoys cooking and used both to whip up some Biryani and some NICE chicken made in the oven. Beware one small thing though, we had absolutely no reception as the house is in a dead spot (but tbh thats not a bad thing when you want to switch off)... On the flipside to that you do get BRILLIANT wifi which never dropped connection not once and you also have SKY and the TV. 5* from me Pauline thankyou for having us at your gem of a place!!
