The neighbourhood is picturesque, steeped in history & very safe (since the English Civil War of the 1640's was concluded!) The Cotswolds is filled with lovely places to dine out - there is a nice village pub, The Red Lion, within walking distance. Please just ask for any recommendations of places to visit during your stay. Chastleton House is a mile away & described as the finest example of a Jacobean Country House in England. Little Compton has a Stunning Manor House with Saxon/Norman Church adjoining. The Walks from The Garden Room are spectacular, for example, an hour & half walk through fields will take you to Long Compton & another Red Lion for lunch perhaps?.. equally fabulous food. • Pam's place was wonderful! Her house and her rooms were pretty. She took us to the neareat bus stop in the morning and picked us up in the evening. What is more, she helped us book the nearest pub and the taxi for the last day. Our travel to Costwolds becomes memorable with this airbnb stay!

  • Jenny was a lovely host. Location great and nice cozy room

    Joanne2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny's room is a small annexe just a few feet from her own house and is accessed via the same gate. It is in a beautiful quiet village and is only 2-3 minutes drive from Stow-On-The-Wold. Although car parking is right outside in the pub car park it felt and was very secure. The pub is called The Horse & Groom is a typical country pub with good hospitality and good well priced food. Jenny's room is very clean with nice touches with hot drinks and snacks included. The room and bathroom are not big but do not need to be as it easily caters for 2 people. The location is very good for a quiet time away

    Gary2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Nicely situated, for our stop near the cotswolds. Pub on the doorstep, very friendly.

  • Jenny’s place is in a quiet and picturesque village. I was looking for somewhere at the last minute for a friend and me. Jenny was accommodating and responsive, and the place was clean and perfect for our stay. There is a great pub next door, which we stopped by for a fabulous breakfast.

    Nathan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect little room for exploring the Cotswolds. Even more ideal, the pub is a few steps away for sheltering from a storm! 🍻Would highly recommend.

Moreton In Marsh, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom

A cosy Shepherd Hut, named Ronald, set in 60 acres of tranquil Cotswold countryside. Glamping at its finest with all the comforts of home in the great outdoors. Conveniently located 5 minutes drive from Moreton in Marsh, with direct train links to Oxford and London. Durhams Farm is home to over 30 much-loved horses and ponies. Horse riding experiences are available whilst you stay. The perfect location for couples, adventurers and equine enthusiasts.
Camping may not be at the top of everyone’s list during the winter months but Ronald is a very reasonable alternative. We’ve kitted him out with hot and cold running water, heating and electricity too, so you can relax and enjoy all of the comforts of home, in the great outdoors. Ronald has a comfy fitted double bed, with storage underneath and all of your bed linen and towels are provided. The kitchenette is stocked with crockery and cutlery, a kettle, an electric single hob, toaster, fridge and sink. There is private seating outside your hut with beautiful views surrounding. Great for stargazing and the sunsets at the farm are beautiful. During the winter months, radiators will be added to keep you warm. There is a heated shower room a short walk (25metres) from the Huts in a blue cabin. Here, guests have shared (max 4 guests at any one time) access to a shower, WC and sink. Ideal for couples, friends and solo travellers! We have two huts available at Durhams - great for group trips! Apologies, we do not accept bookings for young children (under 10) and/or pets. Wifi is not available in the Hut but can be accessed on the farm all day. Visit the riding school reception to connect your device.
Our Shepherd Hut is set in a stunning part of the Cotswolds within easy reach of picturesque towns such as Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold. Stratford upon Avon, Cheltenham and Warwick are both within a 40 minute drive. There are miles of bridleways and footpaths to explore in the surrounding area and some great local pubs and restaurants. Daylesford Organic is 3 miles away too and well worth a visit whilst you stay.
  • Ronald is one of the most calm and relaxing places I have ever been to. The sun wakes you up in the morning, shining right into your face through the window. If you wake up early you can watch a beautiful sunrise. The whole area is so peaceful. You can have lovely walks in the surrounding if you like. I know that most people reach the hut by car. As we couldn’t go by car, we had to take the train and ordered a taxi from the station to the hut - so it’s also doable. But if you want to do a lot of sightseeing it’s definitely recommendable to go by car just because there are so many beautiful spots in the Costwolds that are impossible to reach by foot. But if you’re only staying for the weekend it’s totally doable by train as well. You just have to choose sights that are close by and which you can reach by foot. We met Patricia in person and also talked to Sarah on the phone. Both are lovely people, very hospitable and so nice! We highly recommend this place and would love to come back one day!

    Hannah2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Will be back! so good

  • Something different! We had a really special time and I was surprised at all the amenities that could fit into a small place but still look stylish and minimalistic

    Georgie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my partner stayed in “Ronald” and I can’t recommend it enough! Parking was plentiful, check-in super easy, the amenities were clean and everyone around the site was very friendly. It was a little muddy on the yard so take wellies in rainy weather, but the hut itself is very cosy, warm and safe, and had lots of thoughtful touches such as blankets, hot water bottles and even little games to play when we were indoors. We got to wake up to stunning views over countryside and of Chastleton house, and the farm has plenty of animals to see! Really enjoyable couple of days, thank you 😊

  • Great little cabin for a weekend's writing!

    Mark2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

The Cotswold Wash House nestles in the slopes of the Windrush Valley on the edge of Great Rissington. The village has a manor, church and inn; all the charm of a bygone age. The compact cottage combines antique furniture with modern interior design. You'll find a super kingsize bed with crisp, white 800 thread Egyptian cotton bed linen. The kitchen is fully equipped and we provide a generous breakfast hamper with locally baked bread, eggs, milk, cereals, jams, coffee and tea in plentiful supply.
This is a fully converted Wash House that once served a three hundred year old house. It's made of honeyed Cotswold stone and is set in the heart of our tranquil village. Made for two! The rear windows look out onto an orchard and the front have stunning views down the Windrush Valley.
This is the Golden Mile of the Cotswolds. There are country walks from your front door; river banks and villages of honeyed stone. Popular destinations include: Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh as well as beautiful smaller villages like the Slaughters and Bibury.
  • An extremely pleasant and helpful host for whom nothing is too much trouble. Accommodation immaculately clean, cosy and beautiful location. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

    Ron2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Wash House is a wonderful cosy place for a short break away in the Cotswolds. It’s exceptionally comfortable and all the amenities you might need are provided for. Chris and Ali are fantastic hosts and there were some very thoughtful and welcoming touches for when we arrived. We would definitely stay again.

    Colin2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Wash House was a lovely place to stay - warm, cosy, beautiful location...and with delicious breakfast hamper provided. Chris was a lovely host - easy to communicate with and incredibly hospitable. Would highly recommend.

    Lucy2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful little stay at The Wash House. It had everything that was needed for a weekend get away. A perfect location for country walks and exploring the surrounding villages. Thank you for having us!

    Charlotte2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really satisfying. It's a central part of Cotswolds, so it's easy to get to any nearby city, but you'll have to drive through rural back roads, so be careful about driving. (In addition, everyone is fast, like Forza Horizon 4) But everything else is perfect. Clean and warm. At the end of February, I thought I could get it, but the heating is perfect. Beds and bedding are also comfortable. The lighting is also everywhere, so it's convenient and nice. The breakfast you provided was also very satisfying. If you're two, you'll have no regrets at all.

    hoseon2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This stylish cottage was perfect for a little Cotwolds getaway I had with my friend. Chris met us on arrival and showed us round. The place was clean and cosy, with helpful leaflets and walking routes for the surrounding areas. The location was perfect and we had the best time! Thank you for a great stay.

    Molly2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic stay at this little cottage for the 2nd time! Very cosy and pleasant stay, in a lovely little village, with great places nearby too! Chris is a lovely host and we were very happy 😊

    Daisy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect little cottage for a lovely weekend away for two! Chris was very welcoming and the cottage as absolutely lovely and in a fabulous quiet location. I would definitely recommend and will likely be back myself. The breakfast basket was a lovely touch and the bed was unbelievably comfortable.

  • A beautiful property nestled in the countryside. The house is spacious, clean and comfortable. There is a steep staircase leading to the entrance, but it is well lit and I carried several bags up no problem. There is plenty of parking space at the property and it is within easy reach of Chipping Campden. The owners left me a selection of goodies for breakfast, which was lovely. Would recommend the property to others and would happily go back.

    Candace2020-03-04T00:00:00Z

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • Perfect place to relax and get away from things. Beautifully clean and modern, no expanse has been spared with fixtures and fittings. 30 min walk to the village where you have restaurants and shops. We will be back again soon, great stay!

  • Kate’s place is a dream, every detail has been thought about and catered for. The cottage and gardens are stunning and the chickens are the best looking in England! A delightful warm welcome. They have really made the place feel like a home from home. I can’t fault the experience, I highly recommend this stay. They made it hard to leave, I will be back soon. Thanks Kate for a wonderful stay.

  • We had a lovely long weekend break at Daisy’s Cottage. Kate greeted us on arrival and provided a few essentials for the coming days, including some yummy fresh eggs from her chickens. The cottage had everything we needed for a nice break, plenty of information on local attractions and a great pub a stones throw away. We look forward to returning at some point in the future!

Perfect spot for quick day trips as well as a comfy place to hibernate a bit if that’s what you are looking for. The town is small so it was great to just pop down for a walk when the sun would come out. All around a great time that we will never forget!

  • If you're considering booking The Old Smithy, don't hesitate! It's full of charm and old-world character with all the modern touches you could need. The shower is fantastic and the log burner works a treat creating a wonderful cosy atmosphere! Kingham itself is the quintessential Cotswolds village benefitting from two amazing pubs...we can highly recommend both; we frequented both for dinner and The Kingham Plough does a fantastic breakfast and is only two minutes walk away! If you do decide to stay in the area we can also highly recommend Dalesford Farm, we found a reason to drop in every day of our stay...either for tea and cake, picking up some fantastic food or for breakfast on our last day before setting off home. We can't wait to return soon!!

In the heart of the quiet village of Bledington; two minutes' walk from the award-winning King’s Head pub. The front door opens to an open-plan living and dining area with a seating area with TV to the right and small but well-equipped kitchen to your left. Stairs lead to a bedroom with king-size bed, plenty of storage in two wardrobe cupboards and a chest of drawers. Upstairs there is a large bathroom with bath and hand-held shower and a utility cupboard housing an automatic washer-dryer.
Five Bells Garden Cottage is a mid-nineteenth century farmworkers’ cottage which has been renovated to a high standard and offers cosy and comfortable accommodation. Positioned well back from the quiet village street it is a tranquil and restful retreat located in the small village of Bledington in the heart of the North Cotswolds. Garden Cottage started life around the 1860s as an open plan living space with large inglenook fireplace which provided the only means of heating and cooking. A ladder gave access to an upstairs space which was divided into two bedrooms. It was built as a home for workers on the adjacent Grayhursts Farm (now Five Bells Cottages) at a time when there was a significant amount of farming, market gardening and light industry in Bledington. Tenants continued to rent the building until the 1930s when it fell vacant and became part of a local council plan to build more modern homes in the village. However, the Second World War put all such plans on hold and during the war the cottage housed a family evacuated from the East End of London and at times up to nine people lived there – still with no indoor facilities beyond a sink with cold running water and an outside toilet. After the war it remained intermittently tenanted until the 1970s though little was done to modernise it. At some time the ground floor was divided into two small rooms and a staircase built. When it was acquired in 2004 by the owners they decided to return it to its original ground floor plan by removing the partition walls and re-opening the large fireplace. They managed to source some blue lias stone to match the existing flooring, which was sandblasted to remove varnish and paint. The walls and ceilings were re-plastered and a modern kitchen fitted at one end of the open plan living area.(URL HIDDEN)Upstairs the two original bedrooms remain, but one has been converted into a modern bathroom which also houses a utility cupboard with washing machine and tumble drier. The double bedroom is furnished with a super king size bed and has generous fitted wardrobes. Shutters have been fitted to all windows and a fully programmable electric heating system has been installed along with electric water heating and cooking facilities so that the cottage benefits from all modern conveniences whilst retaining all of its original period charm. To the front of Garden Cottage is a south west facing private terrace garden equipped with table and chairs for alfresco dining on warm summer evenings. Deck chairs are housed in the cupboard on the right of the fireplace. Garden Cottage is fully equipped as a holiday home with all necessary crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment. There is a full size oven and a two ring electric hob; a full size fridge with freezing compartment; an automatic washing machine with tumble drier; a drying rack; TV, radio, CD player; hairdryer. All bed linen, towels, tea towels, table cloths, napkins, cleaning cloths and suitable cleaning materials are provided for your stay. There are board games, books, local maps, CDs, DVDs, etc. available in the cottage. Catering services can be offered by prior arrangement, please ask for details and sample menus.
Bledington is only one mile from Kingham railway station with its regular train services to London, Oxford and Hereford and Worcester. The cities of Cheltenham, Oxford, Stratford on Avon and Bath are only a short distance away and the village lies on the Oxfordshire Way. Situated in the Evenlode Valley and traversing part of the Oxfordshire Way, this scenic village has an attractive green and still retains its 15th century church and Victorian maypole, as well as a popular village pub. On the village green is the King’s Head, a couple of minutes’ walk from the cottage and there are many other good pubs and restaurants within a few miles of the village. Supermarkets and a full range of shops are available in Stow on the Wold and Chipping Norton and a village shop selling newspapers is situated in Kingham (2 miles away). The renowned Daylesford Organic Farm Shop is four miles away.
  • We had a lovely, peaceful stay. A great location to explore the Cotswolds.

  • Cozy and welcoming cottage, perfect for 2! It's conveniently located close to some of the best attractions, walks and sights of the Cotswolds (Stoke-on-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water are highly recommended), as well as a great pub! Ideal stay for a few days of peace and relax.

    Davide2019-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Garden Cottage is just as described. The location is perfect for exploring the Cotswolds , the village is picturesque and peaceful, and there is a great pub within walking distance. Excellent chance to get away from it all! There were lots of thoughtful touches, including guide books, maps, puzzles, games, and basic ingredients for cooking (fresh milk, garlic, salt, pepper, etc.). Gabrielle and Martin were excellent hosts and I would highly recommend this property. One note: the cottage is pet friendly, so might not be the best fit for those with allergies. I forgot to ask, but had luckily brought along my allergy medication.

    Sophia2018-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely few days at Five Bells Cottage -the ideal spot for enjoying the Autumn colours of the Cotswolds - and a lovely, homely retreat. The cottage was sparkling clean, warm and had everything we needed, and the really big bed was very comfy. We didn't have a car but still found it easy to find local walks, and we really appreciated having the village pub just a few moments walk away - great for dinner and for a drink by the fire. Thanks for a lovely stay.

  • A lovely cottage in Bedlington which we found to be a good base to explore the Cotswolds with a car. Great pub just a few minutes walk down the road. Comfy big bed. The cottage has a bath with a shower handle which was fine for us.

  • My partner & I stayed at the Coach House for our last get away before our baby arrived. It was a perfect location, short walk or drive into Bourton-on-the-water. Unfortunately we came at a time Covid 19 rules were becoming stricter so didn’t get the opportunity to explore as much as we’d liked- however this meant more time in this lovely home. It was so comfortable & there‘s a good selection of DVD’s & books available to use so we were very grateful. Would highly recommend anyone to stay at the Coach House. We will definitely be returning with our daughter once we’re able to to really take the beautiful area in. Thank you again Sharon and David ☺️

  • We stayed at Sharon's place over New Year and we had the most wonderful time. The place was super cosy, clean and tidy. You can tell Sharon has put a lot of thought into making this a lovely and comfortable place to stay, with special little touches throughout. It was only about a 10-15 minute walk into the picturesque Bourton-on-the-Water and there is also lovely nearby nature reserve. The stay was made extra special as my partner proposed on New Year's Eve, so we'd certainly love to return to The Coach House again someday to reminisce!

    Rebecca2020-01-02T00:00:00Z

  • Fabulous little place for Cotswolds stay, was staying for work and perfect location and peaceful place to work too. Wonderful hosts.

    Charlotte2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the little house. It is small but it’s very cosy and perfect base for a stay in the Cotswolds. We had everything we needed included homemade fresh bread, jam and orange juice for the morning. The stairs are very steep, so you might want to bear this in mind. Cat and her husband were wonderful hosts, we had lovely chats with them and they recommended so many things to do. We loved Stow itself which had so many pubs, cafes and restaurants to choose from (although it is very expensive!). Stow is very close to lots of other lovely places to go - we particularly loved Bourton-on-the-Water. We would definitely recommend the Little House.

  • Wonderful place to stay, hosts welcoming and helpful with local eateries etc. Delicious freshly baked bread and home made jam and cereals and tea coffee and orange juice provided. Room is cosy, well heated and the two cats are a bonus! Highly recommended for anyone wanting to visit the Cotswolds or surrounding.

  • Very lovely, cosy cottage right in the heart of a beautiful town. Catriona sent us lots of things to see and do in the town and local area prior to us arriving which helped us plan the weekend getaway. The place itself is great, very private and cosy. Highly recommended

Set in beautiful open countryside . You’ll love my place because its spacious inside and out, its quiet with fantastic scenery. My place is good for couples.
Our cottage is a single story detached cottage that has been recently refurbished. It has a large open plan kitchen/living/dining area fitted with all the essentials and more, the hallway leads you through into the bedroom with ensuite shower room.
Clematis cottage is part of a hamlet made up of other converted barns, surrounded by North Cotswold countryside, the nearest villages are Condicote and Upper Swell, both around a 20 minute walk away.
  • Mark was very quick at responding to my messages and was very helpful. The cottage is set on a farm with other cottages in lovely Cotswolds - nature at its best yet minutes away from beautiful Stow-on-the-Wold. Dogs and I had a delightful time. Would definitely consider returning. Thank you Mark.

  • A lovely Cottage, very cosy and well equipped. Mark met us when we arrived and we had no issues at all during the stay. The dogs loved the field at the back and the cottage is in a great location. Bed was very comfy, bathroom great and the living space was cosy. Would recommend to others.

  • We had a fantastic time at Mark’s cottage, I cannot fault it. The surrounding area is stunning. Stow-on-the-Wold is only a 5 minute drive away so you’re never far from the local amenities. The property was spotless, very nicely presented and the log fire was a nice touch. Book this cottage, you won’t regret it!

A lovely dual-aspect room with private bathroom in a light and airy house. Our property is situated in a Cotswold village, easily accessible to Burford, Chipping Norton and Stow-on-the-Wold. Local attractions include Blenheim Palace, Cotswold Wildlife Park and Daylesford Organic Farmshop/Spa/Restaurant/Cafe. We are perfectly-placed for local walks, including our much-loved Secret Garden. There is a good choice of places to eat within walking distance, and more a short drive away.
A sunny room with a private bathroom (bath with shower), within a four-bedroomed detached house in a quiet close with five other properties.
Being blessed with a large choice of local walks, we also have a healthy choice of good places to dine, such as our local hotel with its medieval courtyard. We also have a shop across the road with a deli counter which sells pastries, hot drinks, bread etc, and hot food including bacon rolls from 7am weekdays.

  • We enjoyed our weekend away at Liz's beautiful home. Liz is a great host, kink, quick to respond and gave us a lot of advice on where to go, The bedroom and the adjacent bathroom is super clean and nicely decorated. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the shower has great pressure. The breakfast was help-yourself style with toast, jam, butter, yogurt, cereal, coffee and tea. We were also able to prepare simple meal and making tea/coffee when we needed. We will stay again if we come back!

The Barn is situated in the beautiful Cotswold village of Windrush which is on the borders of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. The Barn was converted into a detached house in the 1970s. There are many walks close by including the Cotswold Way. We are the next village along from the beautiful Sherborn Estate, where Springwatch and Autumn watch were filmed. I have one double bedroom with double bed with private bathroom. There is free parking.
The Barn is situated on the edge of the village of Windrush. It is very quiet and tranquil. There are far reaching views from the house and garden. It would make an ideal retreat for artists. It is close to the beautiful Cotswold town of Burford and only 3.1 miles away from Stone Barn a popular wedding venue. It is 1 mile off the A40 which makes it ideal for sightseeing around Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. We are only 20 miles from the famous Cheltenham Race course. We are 8 miles from Bourton on the Water otherwise known as the Little Venice of the Cotswolds.
Windrush is a beautiful Cotswold village with a church and a village hall where many functions are held. The National Trust Sherborne Estate is one mile away where there is a thriving shop with a cafe which sells delicious coffee and cakes. There are walks all over Sherborne Estate. There is a Pub at Little Barrington which is one mile away which serves delicious food.
  • The location of Jackie's place is in the beautiful Cotswold area. There are a couple of villages nearby in easy walking distance that are really charming. You feel immersed in the serenity of the Cotswold countryside. Jackie is very welcoming and accommodating. We highly recommend her place.

  • We could not recommend this place more highly. The house was beautiful, quaint and clean and the room comfy and beautifully cosy. The real gem in this experience, however, was Jackie who is a fabulous and gracious host! Nothing was too much trouble, but the highlight for us was getting to share breakfast with her as we chatted with her about all aspects of life, which was really wonderful! We’ll definitely be making another visit not only for the house and wealth of things to do in the area but for the lovely hostess with the mostest! Thank you, Jackie!

  • Katy’s place is ideal for either singles or couples; spacious and very comfortable. It’s within an easy walk of the town where there are plenty of options to eat. Having a separate access means you don’t have to worry about disturbing Katy and her family when coming or going. Katy is very friendly and available to help or advise if needed. I had a very enjoyable stay for two nights.

Welcome to my very special genuine Shepherds Hut situated in a beautiful hidden valley in the heart of the Cotswolds, off the beaten track but near to many local attractions, gardens and national trust properties. It is also perfectly situated for wonderful walks with a network of footpaths starting from right outside the door and local pubs only a few miles away. A truely cosy retreat in my peaceful private garden.
The hut has a double bed, thick duvet, pillows and wood burning stove to keep you toasty warm. Outside the hut in the garden you'll find a table and chairs. There is a private bathroom with shower, basin and toilet in a converted section of my garden shed close to the hut where there is also a fridge and a microwave for your use. A kettle and teas, coffees and milk are included in the hut. There is WiFi but it isn't always strong in the hut. You are able to use it in the garden on seats nearer the house.
  • Really lovely space. Cosy and warm once the burner was lit. Really friendly and helpful host. Beautiful surroundings. Would recommend.

  • We had a really nice stay in Louise’s hut! It was so quiet and peaceful. The hut was cosy, warm and Louise was kind to give us some extra blankets. The tea and coffee was a nice touch, which we enjoyed from bed as the sun came up. There was a separate building that had the bathroom, fridge, microwave and crockery. Highly recommend!

    Jacob2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Louise was one of our favorite AirBnB hosts we have met during our backpacking travels around the UK. She was so hospitable and kind, even giving us a ride to her place shortly after we got off the train. She has spent a considerable amount of her life in the Cotswolds so she had a vast amount of knowledge and tips of the walking paths and trails. She invited us into her home and showed us on the map all of the different areas of interests nearby and she was so nice and kind that she even gave us a ride the morning we checked out. Her Shepherds Hut was adorable with a small wood stove for those chilly evenings but we slept so solid throughout the whole night which was much needed for the start of a long day full of hikes. I would definitely reccomend anyone in the area to stay at Louise's place, even if just to meet her and chat with such a kind person!

    Christian2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Shepherd's Hut was our perfect answer to wanting to have the best parts of camping with none of the bad in the rain. It's adorably snug, warm, and so cozy with the sound of rain hitting the roof. The bed is super comfy and the nearby bathroom facilities (with a fridge and dishes as well) is a short dash away in a downpour. Louise's entire property is gorgeous and she's a lovely host. Would absolutely recommend as a base for exploring the Cotswolds!

    Libby2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed with my partner for the night and the experience was amazing. Louise was a great host and made us feel right at home.

  • Beautiful space! All the extra little touches made it so homely. Great location in the heart of the Cotswolds.

  • Beautifully decorated space with everything you need for a relaxing few days in the Cotswolds. One of the comfiest beds we have had in an Airbnb! Marco was easy to communicate with and had plenty of recommendations for local spots to eat at. Highly recommend!

    Adam2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Marco's place, it was ideally located near the main streets of Stow-on-the-Wold so everything was within easy walking distance, but was quiet and cosy as we were hoping for. Marco sent us a detailed list of neraby places to explore and, of particular use, places to eat and rink in the village prior to us arriving at the property which was very useful as we were not familiar with the area. We would highly recommend staying here if you are looking to explore Stow-on-the-Wold or the wider Cotswolds region.

    Andrew2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We feel like we really stumbled across a hidden gem to find Gabriella and Marco’s beautiful little hideaway. The location is fab - right in the centre of Stow but is hidden just back from the Main Street and is so silent it’s like staying in the middle of nowhere. The cottage has been decorated so beautifully-lots of tiny little touches and all so new and clean. The underfloor heating was especially fab, making it so cosy. The only ‘negative’ I could say is that the space is so beautiful, you might not want to explore the cotswolds if that’s what you were planning! We stayed in and relaxed for most of our trip! Cooking facilities were excellent and the welcome message had lots of useful recommendations for local restaurants etc. Best food we had was at the Sheep which is literally right next door.

  • A stunning little home which has been designed and decorated beautifully, we had everything we needed and were even loaned wellies to use during our stay. Marco and Gabrielle were lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful, a perfect location for a perfect weekend!

  • What a great hidden gem set in the quaint little town of Stow on the Wold. My friend and I were greeted very warmly by Marco’s fiancée Gabriella. She took pride in showing us around the converted property and so she should. Marco and Gabriella have done an amazing job creating a warm, cozy and beautiful homely place to stay. Everything was beautifully finished and had the perfect rustic feel mixed with the modern stair case and bedroom. Marco and Gabriella were both great with giving us advice on where to go for food and what to see etc and very friendly. We’ve already decided we must return in the summer. Loved every moment! Thanks Marco and Gabriella you’ve been great!

  • For anyone wishing to stay here, I would highly recommend this, for the price you are well and truly getting your monies worth. The location is perfect as it is right on the high street. Marco ensured we had everything we needed and made sure if there was anything we did need, then he would go above and beyond to sort this. If you are going for a chilled out few days then I would recommend this. If you are going for walks, then I would recommended this

  • We had a really lovely time here. The space was so nice, very comfy bed, and felt very private. It was so easy to walk into town and explore. Helen made a reservation for us at a local restaurant and that was really lovely, the food was great and it meant we didn’t have to worry about where to eat. The town is beautiful and we highly recommend!

A track through our ancient protected beech wood leads you to a clearing which overlooks the beautiful rolling Cotswold countryside. Idyllic, peaceful and extremely private, the Stone Hut is a relaxing retreat away from it all, yet in the heart of the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the historic town of Stow on the Wold. The Stone Hut is at the centre of the clearing with separate kitchen and shower huts sympathetically located to respect the beauty of the location.
This is an ecologically friendly site. The Stone Hut itself has recently been renovated to protect the old building which possibly dates back to before the 14th century. Electricity is all 12 volts, supplied by a battery bank charged entirely by solar energy. Heating inside the Stone Hut is by way of a traditional Villager wood burning stove using timber cut from fallen trees in the woodland around the hut. Cooking can either be done on the outside BBQ or in the kitchen hut tucked away at the foot of an ancient beech tree. The toilet facilities comprise of a purpose built timber building with toilet, basin and shower. Hot water for washing and showering comes from an external boiler. The water for the site has been captured from further up the hill in the woods by way of small reservoir. This water is not for drinking though bottles of fresh drinking water will be provided in the kitchen for drinking and cooking. A Coleman extreme cool box is provided with ice blocks for the storage of perishable food. Although beautifully secluded the Stone Hut can be reached by 4x4 vehicles. Alternatively parking is available at our farmhouse and we will be happy to transport luggage to and from the site. Please be aware that this is a wilderness site that we have left as undisturbed as possible and a good pair of hiking boots would be handy for the 10 minute walk from our parking to the site. We have never struggled to get a strong 4G mobile signal at the hut for when you just have to break back into the 21st century!!
Stow on the Wold is an historic town in the heart of The Cotswolds. Situated close to Bourton on the Water and a short drive to historic Burford, Bibury with its famous Arlington Row and further afield to Cheltenham, Stratford on Avon, Chipping Norton and Oxford

In the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water, this 2-bedroom, terraced holiday cottage makes an ideal base from which to explore the area. Enjoy the shops, or visit the Motor Museum and Model village, all within walking distance. Further afield are many delightful Cotswold villages and towns including Stratford-upon-Avon, Cheltenham and Oxford or nearby NT properties - Snowshill Manor, Hidcote Manor Gardens, Warwick Castle and Sudeley Castle. Shop 100 yards, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
Forsythia Cottage is a two-bedroom (1 single, 1 double) Grade II Listed property and forms part of one of the original terraces situated within the peaceful backwaters of Bourton-on-the-Water’s picturesque High Street. The River Windrush flows through the centre, spanned by low arched bridges, flanked by wide village greens and lovely period Cotswold stone buildings. The village offers a wealth of attractions, delightful shops and eating establishments to suit everyone’s taste.
Eating Bourton-on-the-Water is jam-packed full of quaint cafés, renowned restaurants and traditional pubs to enjoy, all within a gentle stroll of Forsythia Cottage’s front door. Highly recommended is The Rose Tree, a cosy riverside restaurant boasting great views and even better food where booking is essential, as well as The Croft Restaurant at Chester House Hotel; another riverside gem with a well-priced menu of light bites and freshly-prepared mains, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. An afternoon tea lover’s dream, Bourton-on-the-Water has options galore to satisfy your sweet tooth. Smiths of Bourton is a firm favourite amongst locals and visitors alike; a quintessential Cotswolds tearoom in every sense from the outside, serving up a freshly-baked menu of sweet and savoury treats as well as traditional afternoon teas. For fans of the artisan scene, Bakery on the Water is somewhat of an under the radar riverside gem, offering up delicious fresh pastries, brunch dishes, tasty sandwiches and baked goodies, freshly made each day using the finest of ingredients. Slightly further afield in nearby Upper Slaughter (9-minute drive), Lords of the Manor offers an award-winning fine dining experience that comes highly recommended (albeit with a price tag to match), as does The Slaughters Manor House; a 17th century manor house that houses an award-winning restaurant in its Orangery, with an exquisite locally-inspired menu created by chef Nik Chappell. Nearby Stow-on-the-Wold also boasts its fair share of dining establishments well-worth a visit, including the laid-back Sheep on Sheep Street with its sourdough pizza specialities and The Old Butchers; a hugely popular eatery where booking is recommended. Walking Smack bang in the middle of the glorious countryside of the rolling Cotswold hills, keen walkers have plenty of choice when it comes to walks that lead straight from the village centre; just a two-minute stroll from Forsythia Cottage. A wonderful circular village walk, leading from the village’s Visitor Information Centre, is highly recommended and allows you to get to grips with Bourton-on-the-Water’s rich heritage, taking you past key sites, buildings and monuments as you stroll. For those keen to explore the surrounding villages, a circular walk following the Windrush and Gloucestershire Ways through to the villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter offers a gentle pace that totals 4 miles in distance; perfect for those not looking for anything too strenuous. More hard-core rambling fans should give the 9-mile circular trek from Bourton through Naunton and the Slaughters a go. Starting at Victoria Street’s Visitor Centre, this picturesque walk takes you through lush fields, chocolate-box villages and along the flowing River Windrush, with Naunton acting as a perfectly-placed pit-stop half way round to relax and refuel. Must-Sees Bourton-on-the-Water and its surrounds have a plethora of attractions to keep guests of all ages entertained, many of which are within walking distance of Forsythia Cottage. The Model Village (5-minute walk) is also a must see, a perfect replica of the village built to 1/9th scale in traditional Cotswold stone, as is the wildlife-lovers’ paradise Birdland (8-minute walk) if you’ve got younger guests in tow. If you’re visiting in the summer, you may also be lucky enough to play witness to the village’s annual football match taking place entirely in the River Windrush; an August Bank Holiday favourite that sees visitors flock from miles around to cheer on their favourite team. • Very nice house, very good location, in the center of town, easy to walk anywhere. The cottage is warm and clean, and quite a sense of history. I highly recommend my Chinese friends to come and experience it when they come to the UK.

  • What a lovely cottage! Brilliant location, perfectly clean, comfortable beds and very cosy. Exactly how you image a cottage in the Cotswolds to be. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in the Cotswolds or Bourton on the water. We will definitely be back!

  • Fab little cottage. Location was great, just off the main tourist part of Bourton on the Water. A lovely Italian about 2 mins away and bakery across the bridge. The house is perfectly compact, warm and cosy. Loads of hot water and comfy bed. It was great to have off street parking and a back garden. Just something to note, the stairs are very steep and narrow so if you have mobility issues, take care.

    Sarah2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • It was incredibly good. My husband said it was the best place in the whole Airbnb and hotel. The village is so lovely in the cutely decorated space. I was so happy and happy that I was in that space. If you're thinking of staying in Cotswolds, Burton on the Water, and this hostel is the best place to stay! At first I thought about the Bibury Swan Hotel, but the price was so high that I couldn't make a reservation. It's close, so I stayed here for a while, but I'm a little disappointed. The ceiling is low, the shower booth is narrow, and all of them are expressed in cuteness. My big husband was annoyed in London, but it's okay that it's okay even though it's a narrow sour booth.

    Huiwon2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house in a brilliant location so you can just walk around Bourton without a car. The cottage as lovely inside and well equipped with everything needed. Perfect.

    Paul2019-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location. Right in the centre while being super quiet and charming. Great communication. Recommend

    Joshua2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • This picture perfect cottage was the best spot to call home during our trip to the Cotswolds. The cottage was located in our favorite town, Bourton-on-the-Water. The house is just one street over from the river and busy shops, but feels off the beaten path. Having a parking spot included was a great bonus. From the start of our visit we felt right at home with our welcome basket. The cottage is at the top of our list for future stays. Thanks!

The train carriage has been lovingly restored by Ben during 2017 to a bright and welcoming base for exploring the picturesque Cotswolds. It's a cosy getaway and we would like to welcome anyone who would like to enjoy it.
Due to the train carriage construction the floor level is considerably higher than the outside ground level. Therefore please be aware that there are three wooden steps to get inside. The bed is a built in double sized bed, with slate shelf at the headboard. The carriage has a full grill and oven cooker, toaster, kettle and fridge. The bathroom is small but has all the essentials of a toilet, hand basin (made from a large river rock!) and a power shower.
The nearest town of Stow on the Wold, lies within the Cotswolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The town is said to have originated as an iron age fort on its defensive hilltop position. The neighborhood and surrounding area is very peaceful and quiet but still maintains easy access to shops and entertainment. There are some lovely coffee shops and pubs in the town.
  • My husband and I had an amazing stay at the train carriage. The attention to detail was fantastic. Magical location. A great escape to the country. We did one of the walking routes to Icomb provided by Ben which was lovely. Definitely take good shoes and a torch. An added bonus was being greeted by the farms cat. Would definitely stay again if visiting the Cotswolds.

  • I couldn’t recommend more! We were so impressed with the work that has gone into it. It’s so cosy and homely! Thank you for a wonderful stay and to your nephew George for the fresh eggs!!

  • Ben’s train carriage is a slice of Cotswold magic with a real quirky style, beautiful attention to detail and topped off with great local knowledge. We loved being able to be out in the open fields within seconds yet still close enough to Stow to satisfy our bellies.

    Matthew2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely stay. The place has been done so well and it is only a short walk (7 mins) to the local pubs /cafe's etc. Wellies were a must at the time of year we went and a heads up on the parking in the field, as the heavy rain the first night meant the cars struggldled to find traction. Overall the stay was wonderful and I would highly recommend it. Also recommended is a pub called the sheep, for a lovely roast and drinks.

    Ellie2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancé and I stayed in the caboose for the weekend to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. The caboose was so cosy and romantic and came equip with everything needed. Ben left some great guides with walks we could do around the area. The location of the caboose was a nice 10 minute walk from Stow-on-the-Wold, which has lots of cosy pubs, nice restaurants and cute coffee shops. Perfect weekend getaway from the big city!

    Lindsay2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Ben was a great host! The train carriage was very cosy and comfortable stay... in a very peaceful location and the tea and milk on arrival was a lovely surprise and Ben was quick to respond and recommend areas to visit and food! Would recommend for a holiday!

    Laura2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place with everything you need for a weekend away. Close to Stow which has lovely pubs. Although the weather was wet the walk up the leafy lane was good. Head torches a must!

    Rachel2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cute carriage, super close to the town with loads of great places to eat. Ben was very helpful and quick to respond to queries, we would definitely stay again!
