Nestled within a private estate on an expansive heritage orchard is our cozy cabin escape! Direct access to stunning Loughborough Lake for swimming, canoeing & fishing. The cabin, although not fancy or modern, is delightfully quaint, charming and has all the amenities you need for a peaceful, private and quiet Canadian vacation. PRICING POLICY - everyone is equal! We do not charge a higher fee for weekends, give discounts to early bookers or penalize last minute getaways - one price for all!
Located in a beautiful organic apple orchard, you will enjoy total peace and privacy here with a direct view of, and private walk to Loughborough Lake. Swim by your own private dock and have a bonfire by the water's edge. Enjoy the lingering sunset and listen to the incredible calls of the loons. Two decks attached to the cabin provide you with lots of outside space to hang out on. The east deck has a very large picnic table. The west deck overlooks our expansive heritage apple orchard with gorgeous sunset views. A BBQ is available on the lower patio. This is a working organic farm; we have horses, chickens, heritage pigs, our large and friendly farm dog, Gemma. Pick up some free range eggs, maple syrup and honey, apple cider, fresh veggies and homemade sourdough bread at our Farm Gate store. Our property offers hours of hiking trails, including a 1.5 km path encircling the entire waterfront of the property. Chances are you'll spot porcupines, raccoons, foxes, wild turkeys, eagles, hawks and deer. At night you'll hear the yipping of coyotes and the howling of wolves under a star studded sky. In June and July we have a magical display of dragonflies by day and fireflies by night.
Within 20 minutes you are at downtown Kingston, Ontario where you can enjoy all the benefits of a large, urban cultural centre and then return to the seclusion of our private cabin getaway!
  • While the cabin was old, it was clean. The main room had renovated wooden ceilings that made it look clean and bright and the bedrooms were cozy. Overall, this was a great place to spend time with family and get away from busy everyday life. There was a small trail around the farm and activities to do in the lake. The host Stella was very friendly. She works on the grounds so she is around and can answer any questions. She and Mark, who also lives on the farm, were kind enough to provide fans. She even asked us if we needed mosquito repellent when we went on our hike.

  • Our family of four people and two dogs were looking for a quiet weekend to get away and have some simple, old fashioned family time, and that is exactly what we got! The cabin was everything we needed to be cozy and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped; the beds were comfortable; the bathroom was clean and had a shower with good water pressure and the sitting area was perfect for a few lazy days of lounging and watching movies. We loved the property, and spent time each day wandering and exploring the trails and waterfront and visiting the horses. Our dogs definitely slept well each evening after our long walks and getting to discover new smells, sights and sounds. Our teenagers went off exploring on their own as well, and also enjoyed a quick dip in the lake, despite it being Sept. 30. We had a nice campfire by the lake one night while listening to the loons and geese and getting a clear view of a sky full of stars. We took advantage of the fresh eggs and maple syrup available in the shop downstairs for breakfasts while we were there, and liked learning some of the history of the property from Mark, who was always friendly and happy to answer our questions. There is a good selection of movies to watch, plus we were able to use an HDMI cable to hook up a laptop to the flatscreen TV and watch movies we had downloaded. Although Stella may say to expect a little dust/cobwebs/bugs etc, we have rented a few cottages in the past, and we found this loft cabin to be quite clean and tidy. It is an older building, but the history of it is part of it's charm; we felt it was like staying in a quaint old farm house, and thoroughly enjoyed our time in it!

  • This was a perfect get away for the family day weekend. Our two kids and dog had the time of their lives—the kids got to feed pigs and play in the snow, and our dog had a blast playing with Gemma. Our oldest is still talking about the awesome experience of getting an egg warm from a hen :) Thanks so much for a wonderful long weekend!

  • I stayed in Stella's place with two friends as part of a road trip through Ontario. It is a really beautiful estate and a magical place to be able to stay - so peaceful!!! We loved spending a cozy evening, completing a puzzle and watching DVDs knowing we were in the middle of nowhere. We then had a beautiful walk the next day and even got to say hello to the horses! I cant even imagine how amazing it would be in summer! Its also a super convenient location close to Frontenac Provincial Park for more fun hiking trails!!

  • This is a great getaway and suited our family perfectly. The kids noticed the water tasted "delicious" and property is beautiful.

  • Fantastic little cabin/loft tucked into some beautiful grounds. Stella was very clear that it's not a luxurious escape for city-dwellers, but for those of us who love the outdoors, I can't think of anywhere better.

  • Stella's (and Mark's) cabin is part of a 78-acre organic apple farm with a lovely lake -- loughborough lake -- attached to it. The property is not far from the US-Canada border and yet, once we got in and checked in, it was so peaceful and quiet all around and felt so remote from civilization that we felt we were in the Algonquins, or in Manitoulin! My wife and I and our niece and her husband (4 in total) spent a memorable late-April weekend. We went for a long walk along the lake in the property, and on day 2, we drove to the Frontenac Provincial park nearby and spent an afternoon hiking. An absolutely magical weekend. Thanks, Stella! We definitely intend to be back for a longer stay.

  • Awesome location by the water, surrounded by nature, beautiful trails and horses :) The fresh eggs sold at the store under the apartment were delicious! Very good option if you were looking for a retreat in nature. However, keep in mind that hot water is very scars and overall cleanliness level is that of a country house and not a modern apartment. Thank you Stella and Mark for hosting us :)

Looking to get out of the City? Come visit our rustic cozy cabin in the woods off of Hay Bay. Enjoy beautiful sunsets, a dock on the water and starry nights by the fire.
A tiny Eco cabin with private dock on Hay Bay. Total relaxation and quiet. We are located 15 minutes south of Napanee on the southern shore of Hay Bay, 10 minutes from Bath (grocery store, gas station that sells alcohol, coffee shop) and 10 minutes from the Glenora ferry to Prince Edward County/Sandpanks Provincial Park.
  • Rachel’s cabin was perfect for a couple’s getaway in the woods ! Everything was great and hospitality was amazing. We recommend 100%

  • Communication with hosts was great. Place was easy to find. Place is exactly as seen in pictures. Cute little cabin had a lot of amenities for the kitchen. Even ziploc bags and aluminum foil. Lots of drinking water. Very remote and great place to disconnect! Bed was comfortable. Outhouse was clean.

  • My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. The description given by Colin and Rachel is very accurate - read it carefully and you will know just what to expect. The waterfront is absolutely amazing - the bay is very quiet so you will have a lot of privacy. We biked in to the county to go to wineries and breweries. The ferry ride was great and anything you need is not too far away. If you are thinking about staying here, we would definitely recommend it!

    Natalie2018-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely time at this cozy rustic cabin! Great location, awesome swimming (bring water shoes), good fishing! Highly recommend checking this place out!

  • A relaxing 2 night stay! A completely quiet and private cabin, with all the basics to keep you going. Great area in the province, nice waterfront with very friendly and accommodating hosts. Hope to visit again.

  • Great place: nice cabin in the woods place in a clearing above Hay Bay. Because its higher up than the lake the breeze gets rid of the skeeters. You can go down to the lake and swim, kayak (they have one), or just hang out - so its really two locations that you are getting separated by a 20 meter walk, which is nice: swim and then run up hill to warm up by the fire. Hosts are awesome and helpful. If you want a place to get a way from the constant urban hum, have some peace and quite, and absolute privacy, this is the place.

This is a secluded vintage two-bedroom cottage located in 7 acres of land buffered by a 25 acre nature preserve. There is a private swim / picnic area with dock and gorgeous sunset views. Great for swimming, fishing, or relaxing in nature. Kingston, Ontario, is 30-40 minutes away by car. Seeley's Bay is ten minutes away and has all the basic amenities. Melody Lodge is a walk away and provides boat rental, bait, and ice-cream for the family. A canoe is available to explore the beautiful lake.
The cottage has a huge screened-in porch, which is great for family dinners or just soaking in the views. Plenty of wildlife to be seen. The single beds in one room convert to a king-sized bed.
There are two other cottages on the property, but all three have a great deal of privacy.
  • Rustic and private. Great for seeing wildlife, fishing and canoeing. Has all the basics for a comfortable stay. Close to lots of little towns worth exploring and convenient for buying groceries. Will definitely stay again.

  • wonderful cabin and wonderful hosts! very peaceful and clean. my husband and I loved every second there!!

    Samantha2018-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is roomier than we expected, and the screened-in porch is especially spacious (and where we spent most of our time). It was very clean excluding ants/moths/etc, which is understandable given the location. Next time, I would bring ziploc bags or tupperware to safely store food items. The water access is pretty good. James and Anne were friendly and helpful.

    Corey2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Good rustic cottage with most amenities that is very reasonably priced, beautiful view from the patio. I brought American relatives that don't often go camping outdoors and this was just the right amount of 'roughing it' for them. Lots of watercraft are available for canoing. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who doesn't expect to stay in a five star hotel when they go to a cottage.

    Doug2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage. Great canoeing great hosts. Very private but hosts nearby if anything needed.

  • This cute, rustic cottage is right on the water with the best "sunset rock" you could imagine. Chipmunks and birds make this a special place, especially if you are looking for a quintessential Canadian lakeside experience.

  • What a wonderful little slice of heaven. Such a beautiful spot. We were planning our next trip before the first one was over. Can not wait to return next year!

    Courtney2017-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing experience! If you can believe it this place is even more beautiful than the photos. I highly recommend going - it's quiet and beautiful. Jamie was always around but never around at the same time. We didn't have any issues at all the entire trip but I know if we did he would have been available. There is a canoe or boat with a trolling motor if you should feel the need to go on the water - life jackets also included. There is a very interesting rock that you can walk out on to ease yourself into the water. Water was very warm (August) and was also very clear. If there was a downside it would be that there was no shower, there was a tub only. Other than that we were more than happy and would stay again.

    Ashley2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very nice stay. The lake is very quite and calming. The cottage and surrounding area is very artistically designed. Jamie was a very nice host who helped us a lot during our stay.

A magical, enchanting and inspiring location run by two lovely hosts, who made us feel extremely welcome. A beautiful place to relax, to wind down and enjoy nature. • We had a great time staying here. The beds were comfortable, the amenities were plenty, and above all the views and location was very beautiful.

    Sarah2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was a beautiful & peaceful place. It was very clean & comfortable for all. The covered porch was a favourite along with the easy access to the water. Watching the ocean liners come & go was wonderful. Star gazing and the view of the water under the full moon was a beautiful sight. We witnessed a great deal of wildlife and were in awe of a doe and her two baby fawns as we walked some of the roads.. The privacy of the cottage is wonderful and listening to the crickets & water at night was something that we will remember. The boat slip was very handy for our small boat. Downtown Marysville was nice to visit. The Bakery is exceptional and the sunsets from Marysville were breathtaking. Thank you LAAND for a lovely getaway.

  • We loved this beautiful cottage on Wolfe Island. It has been recently remodeled and has all the comforts you would need and more for a weekend at a cottage. The only downside, for the children, was that the waterfront is very rocky. We recommend bringing water shoes if you want to swim! Other than that, everything was absolutely perfect.

Linens and towels are always cleaned/sterilized off-site after each visit. Open concept kitchen/ dining /cozy living area with a woodstove. The cabin is ideally suited for a couple. When staying at the log home you have access to 2000 feet of pristine and private waterfront on Desert Lake with 200 acres of field and forest for hiking and exploring. This is not a campground or resort. You will appreciate a very private time. The exclusive waterfront has a large floating dock with ladders and the water is very clean and exceptional for swimming. (During warm weather). Bring your own kayaks, canoes , boats or use ours. We have two kayaks and a canoe available with paddles and PFDs. If you have a motorized boat, there is a public boat launch about 3 minutes down the road, near Desert Lake Campground where Holleford and Desert Lake intersect. Get in the boats and explore Desert Lake, Mitchell Creek, Birch Lake and Kingsford Lake giving access by water to Frontenac Provincial Park. To access the private waterfront on the farm you can drive or enjoy a 5- 10 minute walk on a very attractive private lane. During the summer there are a few cows and horses on the property grazing on small pasture fields nestled amongst the trees. Most of the farm is pristine Canadian Shield forested terrain, interspersed with pasture. A naturalists delight. This is not a 'run out he back door and jump into the lake' setting. When it was built over 200 years ago, the inhabitants were more concerned about being close to their neighbours rather than an engaging water view. Be prepared to stroll down to the water's edge, or you can drive along the lane to park at the head of a 100 foot trail that takes you down to the 'boat launch' where a large west facing floating dock with a swim ladder is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. Four wheeling and sea-doos are discouraged. Snow mobiles are allowed when there is adequate snow, providing that operators stay on the prescribed trails. Notice is requested in advance from guests bringing snow machines. Desert Lake is one of the largest, cleanest, deepest inland lakes in Eastern Ontario. The lake is approx 4.5 miles long and the deepest spot is 232 feet. The average depth of the lake is 72 feet. Due to the cleanliness of the water and its depth, it makes for one of the premier Lake Trout fishing spots in Southern Ontario. The lake also produces northern pike, large and small mouth bass, yellow perch, crappies and lake herring. For the more adventurous, Birch and Kingsford Lakes can be accessed by a short canoe ride down Mitchell Creek. These lakes offer more wilderness oriented opportunities, like hiking and camping, as they border on Frontenac Park. Frontenac Provincial Park is within a 10 minute drive. The park has numerous hiking trails, dozens of lakes with excellent fishing and an abundance of wildlife. For more information on the park, contact Friends of Frontenac Park. Ten minute drive to Verona, where you will find banking, grocery including LCBO and Beer Store, restaurants, churches, library, medical building , hardware, Farmer’s food outlet ,convenience stores and much more. . Twenty minutes to the north are the quaint little town of Westport where you could spend an afternoon shopping. Also in Westport are two golf courses and one more can be located just north of Verona which is just 10 minutes away. (Website hidden by Airbnb) 40 minutes to the south in Kingston , Amherstview and Camden East, there are several different golf courses. Thirty or more minutes to the south is the beautiful historic City of Kingston, with numerous attractions such as Fort Henry, Bellevue House, Queens University, Royal Military College and Canadian Forces Base Kingston. Please contact Magret for further information and to book your vacation rental.
This is true Canadian shield country in the "land of a thousand lakes". Kingston (population 165,000) is approximately 35 minutes away. Verona, a small town of 500 is approximately 8 to 10 minutes away for the conveniences of gas, grocery, liquor and beer outlet , farmer's food outlet, restaurants, golf course, bank (BMO), medical attention , churches, etc. The renowned Frontenac Provincial Park is less than an 8 minute drive away.
  • This place is a pearl, we find it very difficult to leave it. It is so cosy, full of light, everything is well thought... The landscape is very pretty, the beds sooo comfortable! It's a privilege to be able to rent a place like this at this price, it's a gift! Magret is so welcoming... There was a fire lighten when we arrived, a nice bottle of wine and chocolates on the table... She also thought of everything we could need (and more!) : milk, bottles of water, butter, eggs, bread, etc etc... We will surely come back here! It looks smaller than it really is on the pictures.. We were 4 and it was the perfect space. Thanks for sharing this !

  • Magret's cabin was extremely cozy and homey. The check in and check out process was effortless. The cabin was well equipped with kitchen utensils and supplies, BluRay player, TV that supports HDMI, fire place, laundry machines, and everything else that made us felt right at home. Everything was clean and tidy. The trail to the lake was a nice short walk for the morning and evening. We enjoyed our stay in the cabin immensely and would definitely return in the future. Thank you to Magret for maintaining such a beautiful place!

    Olivia2016-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was my third stay at the cabin and have continued to enjoy the peaceful farm, trails, wildlife and canoeing on Desert Lake. Magret is a wonderful host, always ensuring that we are comfortable while proving excellent advice and great munchies. Thank you again, Magret!

    John2018-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • What an all round incredible experience. We had the best time. Magret has really thought of everything. The place itself is absolutely beautiful. The king sized bed is extremely comfortable and the facilities are great! It was so nice to enjoy the peace and quiet of the country with the rustic touch of the cabin without sacrificing a hot shower and a fully equipped kitchen. The cabin is truly immaculate. The light streams in during the day and the sky is amazingly clear at night. There are lots of local places to explore and plenty of opportunity for outdoor adventures near by. We especially enjoyed the extensive board game collection and the wine that Magret left for us upon arrival. The little touches such as fresh fruit, condiments, and snack and staples in the cupboards meant that we were never caught out. We will definitely be staying again. Magret was such a lovely host, never have we felt so cared for during an air bnb stay! Thank!you Magret!

    Daisy2015-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the cabin : it is very cosy, calm and pretty. We loved the fact that Magret anticipated our needs ! The only little "bad" aspect is the distance to the lake. But we loved to canoe on the lake and to swim in it !

    Patricia2015-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy cabin is exactly as advertised - easy to get to from TO (2.5 hours), fully equipped (kitchen, snowshoes, jackets, linens, even food!), and is absolutely beautiful. The wood burning fire, board games, and property kept us entertained. The perfect place to escape with reading materials and not much else. Thanks Magret!

    Erica2018-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is the 4th year in a row that my husband and I have returned to Desert Lake Waterfront Farm, so that in itself speaks volumes. The cabin is comfortable, cozy and very relaxing, generously stocked with all the essentials for a perfect stay. We particularly love the natural wood burning stove, the exposed logs, the bright sunny atmosphere, the gorgeous walk to the lakefront as well as around the farm and the panoramic sunsets, - if you are an early riser, the sunrises. We bring our bikes and cycle along the Kingston Pembroke Trail which is accessed just past Verona. The grocery, pharmacy, hardware stores and restaurants in Verona have everything you else you might need. Frontenac Provincial Park is close by for excellent hiking. Kingston is a fabulous outing and a lovely 40 minute drive away. Magret is an excellent host who genuinely cares about her guests and their comfort. She respects her guests privacy while making sure they enjoy their stay at her unique property. Thank you, Magret! A wonderful time, as always!

Total privacy and solitude await you at this hand-built cabin in the woods. Though just a few minutes from the 401 and amenities of town, you'll find yourself in another world. Cozy up to the woodstove and listen to the drumming of rain on the roof, or, if you're really lucky, wake up to a blanket of freshly fallen snow.
Our hand-built one-room cabin is bright and spacious, with a functional kitchen area featuring lots of counter space, a large sink (but not running water) and the convenience of a 3-burner propane stove-top. It is well-stocked with pots & pans, kettle & French press for making coffee, dishes, knives and utensils. The open-air sawdust toilet is tucked privately into the trees, about 20 steps away. Wood-heated and winterized, the 16x24 foot wood-framed cabin is set on a hardwood forested hillside; it's approximately a 5 minute hike through the forest from your parking spot, so pack lightly and be sure to bring footwear suitable for sometimes wet and rough terrain. Just a 10 minute drive from the town of Gananoque, the cabin is on 127 acres of private property within the Frontenac Arch Biosphere, a geographic corridor between Algonquin provincial park and the upper Adirondack mountains. The land here holds mixed hardwood forests, groves of Hemlock and White pine, grassy meadows, steep rocky highlands and lush vibrant ponds and wetlands.
The land is within the Frontenac Arch, an ancient granite bridge spanning between the Canadian Shield and the Adirondack Mountains in the north-eastern U.S. Its incredibly rich natural environment and history was recognized in 2002 when it became a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. We'll provide a guide that outlines some of the fabulous cycling, paddling, and hiking possibilities in the area.
  • Great communication and exactly as described. Thank you Barefoot for accommodating my wife and I. Your place is nice a close to Ganonoque and we had a great time!

  • This place is great! We loved it! It's clean, secluded, and have most of the stuff you need for a peaceful stay. Just be prepared that getting water and shower can be a bit challenging. The host was very responsive and helpful. Overall we had a nice long weekend stay and I'd recommend this place to anyone who's looking to have rejuvenating experience.

    Jack2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time. The cottage was beautiful and so were the surroundings. Wood stove keeps you toasty and the twinkle lights lend a rustic and comforting feel to the place. Place has everything you need for a relaxing vacation away from it all. Pete was very friendly and accommodating.

    Dino2016-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at the cabin was exceptional. It was peaceful, quiet, and beautiful. I was greeted warmly by Kristen upon my arrival and received a quick tour of the cabin. I was left in solitude, but never felt alone. The cabin was so cozy with an easy to use wood stove that kept me very warm all weekend. I spent hours by the huge window staring out into the wilderness. I look forward to my next visit. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who would like some peace and quiet in comfortable accommodations.

  • Our host Tara was so welcoming, and made us feel comfortable with the space, and different features of the cabin and hiking trails. The listing was very accurate, the cabin is exactly as described and pictured. We LOVED the peace and quiet, the beautiful landscape, and the ability to hike around the property. The cabin provides total privacy, but we didn't feel abandoned either! Our host Tara checked in by text to see if we needed anything, and let us know she was available if we had any questions. Such a great place to get away from the city and be in nature! We'll definitely be back!

    Chelsea2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • The host was very kind and helpful and took very good care of me and the cabin. My days at barefoot were filled with peace and quiet by a warm cosy wood burning a wonderful aroma and comfort. An amazing opportunity and experience I will never forget.

  • This place is the best. Its quiet, on a big piece of land and has everything you need. The hosts were awesome and responded quickly to any questions you had, but let you have all the space you needed. There are some trails for hiking on the property as well. The cabin was fantastic with an awesome wood stove. Everything you need to the right amount of comfort. Excellent stay.

  • We had a great time, Allan’s place is absolutely beautiful, quiet and very comfortable, perfect to escape the city and relax. Allan was very friendly and available at all time. I highly recommend Allan’s place.

  • Allan's place was immaculately clean and comfortable. Allan himself went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and safe. A lovely place and amazing host!

  • So amazing! Private and beautiful, we couldn’t ask for a better experience!

    Jessica2018-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Super cozy and comfortable! You feel like you’re living in the woods with all the trees around you. Allan was very helpful when we got lost on the way, and very accommodating once we got there. The wood stove was our favourite feature it made the cabin feel super warm and cozy, perfect for a cool fall night!

    Marissa2018-10-25T00:00:00Z

  • An idyllic spot. We spent the Canada Day long weekend here and didnt want to leave. Allan is the perfect host- fantastic communication and instructions ahead of the trip and so welcoming on arrival. The cabin is a stunning, comfortable, private space with everything you could possibly need and the most beautiful view too. One of the best weekends we have had - in the most beautiful setting. Can’t recommend enough.

    Susan2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • I wanted to treat myself to a quiet, private, cosy retreat for a week. This was the perfect place! The heated floors and the wood stove (with lots of wood!) kept the cottage toasty warm. The bed beside the wood stove was the perfect place to curl up with my pile of books. It was also the perfect spot to watch the snow falling through the floor to ceiling windows. The kitchen area is very well equipped for cooking and food prep, and well supplied with beautiful dishes, and the cottage was spotlessly clean throughout. I’ve stayed in many Airbnbs and this is one of the best! Allan gave me a quick tour when I arrived and assured me that I would have complete privacy unless I needed assistance. Although their house is very close, the cottage feels secluded and very quiet. It was everything that I had hoped for and I highly recommend it for a get-away for one or two people, at any time of year. I should also add that I tried his smoked salmon and fish cakes and they were both fabulous!

This two-bedroom vintage cottage is located on Cranberry Lake and offers great swimming, boating, fishing, and wildlife. There is a playground for the kids in view of the kitchen window. When the nights are cool, there is a fireplace and plenty to wood to burn. A canoe is available to explore the beautiful lake / canal.
This cottage has an open concept design with kitchen and living room together. There are great lake and sunset views from the cottage. Their is one queen bed in one of the bedrooms, the rest are single beds. Paths lead to a private fire pit and swim area.
There are only two other cottages on the 7-acre property.
  • THE REST is a very cozy and functional cottage with a fabulous view of the lake. The trees and lake and sitting areas (firepit and easy chairs) make this the perfect summer or fall getaway. Very quiet and peaceful.

  • Jame's place is very nice with a wonderful view on the lake. The house is well equipped with a great fireplace, bbq, a canoe for your use, lots of outside games for children... We would definitely recommend this place for anyone wanting to spend a nice stay in a remote rustic place in the Canadian countryside. We definitely enjoyed our stay very much and would love to go there again.

  • Anne and james place at cranberry lake is so absolutely wonderful, we didnt ever want to leave. The cabin is lovely equipped, completly private and quiet, except for the singing of birds and splashing of waves. My whole family loved swimming in the warm lake. Espacially the canoes, kayaks and watertoys made our stay really enjoyable. The view over cranberry lake is so pretty and relaxing we hope to come back some day!

    Ute2018-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 4 idyllic days, we were really well resourced and enjoyed the Lake with canoe despite the mosquitoes outside. It is a simple and superb place to enjoy nature and be between us.

  • The rest is one of the most beautiful place in canada. The view on the lake is wonderful. You have the possibility to do some canoo and to walk in the magnificient forest. The place is perfect to chill and rest. Would recommend a 100 percent! Unique experience.

  • My family and myself had a great time staying at ‘The Rest.’ It is secluded, with a beautiful view of the lake from the living room. The cottage was just as described in the listing and was equipped with a bbq, full kitchen with dishes, pots and pans, a microwave and a coffee maker as well as plenty of games and books. During out stay, a canoe, kayak and paddleboat were made available to us which we used to paddle to a few of the small islands on Cranberry Lake. The hosts were very warm and welcoming, providing advice on hiking trails in the area which was much appreciated. We will definitely visit again!!!

    Aleksandra2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • A weekend at The Rest is exactly what my family needed! The house is a bit small, but the magnificent lake front view makes up for it. James was helpful in pointing out to us where to go canoeing/paddle boarding. Godspeed!

The hot tub is there for your use, we monitor and adjust the chemicals for every booking. Washer and dryer are there for your use if needed.

I will definitely come back again in the future. it truly is a little Slice of Heaven.

  • A little piece of heaven... Big surprise when we arrived : huge garden directly on the lake, hidden and quiet, the cottage is adorable and has everything needed outside and inside (jacuzzi, plancha, fireplace, canoes, hammock, etc.). We had a perfect stay here and really enjoyed the place and the surroundings ! Thanx again! :)

    Adeline2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I spent three wonderful and relaxing nights at Procrastination Bay! The cottage is clean and well appointed for its size, the amenities are great, and the setting is very quiet and secluded. We enjoyed several hours out on the water with one of the provided canoes, before taking advantage of the fire pit and some stargazing from the hot tub. If you're looking to get away from it all for a few days with somebody special or your family and you enjoy peace and privacy, I couldn't recommend Procrastination Bay more.

He even gave us a tour of the place and made sure we knew where things were. Its located in a perfect spot with lots of fish out in the lake which makes for a great fishing trip. • Beautiful cottage. Dennis was very responsive and helpful. Everything you need is there. Spacious and clean. Very relaxing. Great time here. Thank you Dennis!

    Lesley2018-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The Cottage is as advertised, very clean and tidy. Nice cottage feel, with many amenities available. Dennis is very easy to communicate with for planning your trip. The cottage is very comfortable with a gentle breeze most of the day, no flying insects to bother you while outdoors. I believe we didn't have a single interaction with mosquitoes or flies. Lake is great, temperature of water was very good, shallow for probably 30 feet out. Not much boat traffic during our stay. Quiet area, not many neighbors. Able to enjoy Loon calls across the tranquil waters. Well worth visiting more than once.

    Steve2018-08-09T00:00:00Z

  • Dennis was a great host! He was patient and friendly and responded to questions I had in a timely manner. The place was gorgeous right on the lake! The water was super warm and shallow. I would recommend bringing water shoes though as there are zebra mussels in the lake. The bedrooms were very nicely designed as well.

    Natania2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • The views were absolutely stunning. Overall our group of 11 had a great time. Here are some pros and some suggestions for future stays. Pros: Beautiful view, Price is great, Having AC in a cottage was awesome, Firepit with extra wood, Easy check in and out Some suggestions to improve future stay: 1. It would be ideal to be informed as to what to bring prior to arriving at the cottage. We were a group of 11 showing up at the cottage not knowing that we needed to bring toilet paper. We were only provided with 2 rolls for 3 days stay for a group of 11. 2. We were not told ahead of time, that the water at the cottage is not drinkable. Being in an island, it's not easy to go to the nearest grocery store since it involves a ferry ride. Luckily we had brought enough water bottles to manage. 3. Please let future guests know to bring their own towels and bedding. The beds did not have any pillow cases or sheets. Some mattresses were stained and very dirty. 4. It would be nice to have some sort of curtain on just the bathroom for some privacy. It's a large window and can be seen inside easily from outside. 5. It would be nice to be provided with dish soap so we can wash the dishes instead of using the dishwasher for just a few items. Overall thank you for a great experience!

    Laboni2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great cottage for a large family. Lots of space for everyone. We really appreciated having air conditioners and fans in most of the rooms, this kept the place nice and cool for us. Definitely a + as most cottages don’t have A/Cs. Access to the river was also wonderful. Lots of water to venture on. It was very quiet and the hosts were very much available when we needed them. The only thing I didn’t like was that none of the rooms had window coverings including the bathroom. My hubby on the other hand thought it was great as the light would wake you up nice and early and get you out there to make the most of your days. However we all agreed the bathroom should have one for privacy. In the end this is a very personal preference. If we are back in that area, which we likely will, we would consider going here again for sure.

    Rachel2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect

    Mohsen2018-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kristen's place is a great rustic property with lots of green space for kids. The water is not suitable for children, it is fast moving and very rocky and entry is at the end of the dock off a ladder. It is too bad that many of the screens have large holes in them - we would have preferred the breeze over air conditioning but didn't want all the bugs to come in! Note you have to bring drinking water with you and you cannot buy anything on the island, there are no stores. So stock up before crossing!

Beautiful 1940s cottage perched on the shores of peaceful Howes Lake only 25 minutes north of the 401 in Kingston. Main cottage has a large deck and an open kitchen/dining/living room with two smaller bedrooms. Bunk house is large, bright and open with a double bed and 2 singles (bunks) and sitting areas inside and out. Water is great for swimming, fishing & boating. Paddle boat, SUPs & canoe are provided. Only 3km from Verona with LCBO/Beer/ Grocery store etc.
The open concept kitchen / dining room / living room make this a great spot to catch up with friends and family. It's a cozy cottage but with so many windows and coastal, modern decor it feels open and airy. Just off the living room is a large deck that hangs out over the lake. It has a table and seating for 6. Outside the kitchen door is a gas BBQ. If you empty a tank, there is a second waiting, just please let us know so we can refill. At this cottage, you're never more than a few steps from the water! One bedroom has a set of bunk beds with a double on the bottom and single on top. The second bedroom has a double bed and a TV with built in DVD player. The bathroom is accessed through this second bedroom. Water is pulled from the lake and the cottage has a holding tank which needs to be pumped out periodically. Water in the taps and shower does pass through a filter but we advise drinking from the provided Culligan jugs. If you are staying for a longer period, it's possible that you may need to top up what we have provided. Bottles are easily exchanged at the store in Verona. This is a true 1940s cottage so the bathroom was a later addition. It has a full sized shower, flush toilet and sink but is cozy and accessed through one of the bedrooms in the main cottage. The bunk house is separate from the cottage and a great way to provide some separation between guests. It's a large open space measuring 20' by 12' with several windows. Pictures show two sets of bunk beds but we have replaced one set with a double bed recently. We find it to be an ideal spot for hosting parents with two children. It also has a sitting area with beautiful views of the lake.
The cottage is about 3km from Verona and 5km from the main Grocery store which is also a beer store and LCBO outlet. Verona is a cute little town with all of the modern necessities. It has a nice sand beach with a small playground structure for children.
  • Great hosts! Great area and beautiful scenery. Everything we needed was there ready for us. Would totally go again.

    Greg2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage overlooking the lake. It was peaceful and had everything we needed. We loved it!

  • An amazing comfortable waterfront cottage with plenty to do if you feel so inclined. Many places to sit too and enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer. Paddle Boards, peddle boat, games, bird watching and a beer fridge! We’ll be back for a visit for certain Thanks for being amazing hosts and for being so accurate and thoughtful

  • We had a great stay at Carissa and Owens cottage. We didn't have great weather for our visit and unfortunately couldn't make much use of the water access or water amenities, but it was nice to be close to town to go out for a drive or even rent movies. The cottage was quaint and nicely decorated, however it could use a really good cleaning.

    Shannon2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, this place ticked all the boxes and exceeded our expectations on so many levels!! Located on a quiet and lake, this wonderful cottage is perfect for a group of friends or a family looking to enjoy the outdoors. The cottage itself is stunning and has everything you need and more. Even includes paddle boards and a canoe. Hosts accommodated beautifully and were flexible with requests. This is a little gem, we will be back for sure!

    Shauna2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this cottage! You are surrounded by water and the calming sound of lapping waves. This cottage had really good vibes. Carissa and Owen were so responsive. Thank you

  • My family and I had such an amazing time staying at Carissa and Owens cottage. The cottage is super cute, everything looks like the photos. We had lots fun and were able to relax. Carissa and Owen were quick to respond to any questions we had and wanted to make our stay the best possible. There is LOTS of hot water which was amazing as we had 6 people. Would highly recommend and will likely return in the future

This Gananoque cottage was originally built in 1887 as a farm house. It's been renovated into a space that is perfect for couples, new families, or solo adventurers. Spend your days on the river kayaking/ canoeing, fishing, or just sit back, and take in the view from the enchanting deck.
This cottage has loads of natural light. There is a dock, bar-b-que, and a kayak for you to enjoy. Or you can sit on the deck and watch Canadian geese, osprey, and blue herons. Fresh herbs are grown in the garden for your gourmet cooking. If the timing is right, you may be able to pick fresh apples, pears, plumbs, and cherries from the dwarf fruit tree garden. The dock is great for launching kayaks or canoes, but cannot handle aluminum or litter motor crafts.
This area has been recognized as one of the most beautiful areas in Ontario. Gananoque is known as the gateway to the beautiful thousand islands. The Thousand Islands Playhouse is just a few minutes walk from the cottage. The Playhouse presents some of Canada's best live professional theatre. The local hiking trails will take you through countless wilderness trails. These trails can last the day, or just an hour or two. One of the trails is just off the cottage's back door. One of the best boat tours of the Thousand Islands, The Gananoque Boat Line, is also a short walk away. This world famous boat tour will take you through the islands to view some of Canada's most stunning cottages and to the spectacular Bolt Castle, the birth place of Thousand Islands salad dressing.
  • Richard’s cottage is a great space with a nice deck, yard and dock. The kayak and rowboat were available for our use; we thoroughly enjoyed the waterways right along the cottage both in the water crafts and from the yard and cottage. Margaret A

  • Very clean and practical space. Convenient kitchen appliances at your disposal. Amazing river view. Excellent price for the space. Hope to go again!!

    Beckie2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Richard's cottage. You walk out the back and you are at a cottage with the Gananoque river just waiting to be paddled on. Go out the front door and you are in a small, quiet subdivision. Best of both worlds! You can go quite a distance paddling on the river and it is a 15 minute walk to the main street. The only thing I would caution are the stairs. They are quite steep but beside that everything was as described. Communication with Richard was fast and easy. A great place to stay if you are visiting Gananoque.

    Deb2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Richard's cottage is a fabulous oasis in a great location. It's cute and cozy and quiet. There is much hiking, kayaking, bicycling and swimming in the area. If it's raining there is an excellent bookstore in town to stock up on all those books one always wanted to read, bring them back to the cottage and hide out. Everyone in Gananoque is very friendly and welcoming.

    Ulrike2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great location with great amenities. Would be perfect in the summer.

    Alex2018-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • If quiet and private is what you’re looking for, this is it. Place is cozy. Close to the town but a long walk.

    Glenn2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment I arrived I was in love with the cottage. The view was superb and the cottage had everything I needed for a fabulous getaway! My host was so accommodating. Thank you, Richard! I hope to return again soon!

    Dorothy2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Pictures and descriptions close to reality. Easy to find, great location to explore the Thousand Islands region. View and sunset on the river is really beautiful. Stairs are a bit steep but okay. Mattresses on beds could be updated but still the bedrooms are a nice clean cozy space. Same with towels and bed linen - a bit worn but everything was really clean. We really enjoyed our stay and the use of the kayak and rowboat was an added bonus. Recommend highly for a cozy getaway.

  • I give this the best possible rating is because what you see in the posting detail, is exceeded. Their hospitality is second to none. We had a waterfront porch, some 300 yards from a world class boat exposition, and were very comfortable. We had a slip, ramp, water access, and the open welcome from the owners to anything we need. It is a nice, relaxed comfortable atmosphere in the camp. Nothing fancy here, but again they exceed all our expectations, on our 9th visit to the islands. You cant go wrong on this one, our thanks to them for a great time

The cottage is located in Verona, a 30 minute drive north of Kingston. The property provides reasonable seclusion among the trees and it's 150ft shoreline. There is electricity and running water, indoor plumbing including a toilet and shower as well as a refrigerator, microwave, stove, and a temperamental oven.
There are two enclosed bedrooms with queen sized beds, and a single bed in it's own curtained alcove. There is electricity and running water, indoor plumbing including a toilet and shower as well as a refrigerator, microwave, stove, and a temperamental oven. Fresh linens, and a 18.9L jug of drinkable water provided each week. There is a BBQ, firepit TV (VCR/DVD player) and a canoe (+paddles and lifejackets) for your use.
The cottage is a short drive from the town centre of Verona where there are a couple restaurants, general stores, a gas station and other amenities. It is also located near Rivendell Golf Club.
  • This spot was amazing. The view was absolutely beautiful and the cottage was cute. We always love the older style cottages while going on vacation where we can log off and enjoy the quiet. The host had a book of local things to do and Kingston is only a short drive away, but we spent most of our time taking on the view, watching the cottage’s old VHS movies, playing games, and reading. I would definitely recommend this property for anyone looking for a waterfront property with lots of space and quiet.

  • Great cottage, on a very beautiful lake. Thanks for everything.

    Adam2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very nice and in a great location. Be careful though on the rocks going into the lake as me and my dog cut our feet. It was also really rough in the scorching heat without AC, but there were plenty of fans which was great. Erin was super quick to respond to our messages which was much appreciated.

  • If you like a very rustic cabin, this is nice.

    Paul2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We found Howe's Lake Cottage to be just what we needed.... a super-casual, private, quiet location on a beautiful lake where we could put our feet up and relax....and not too far from Toronto. Finally a place without Muskoka pretentiousness..... or cost. While the shore entry is a little rocky, the Lake - with warm warm, clean water - is nice and large with minimal power boat traffic ( lots of bass fisher-folk). The cottage is very "rustic"....think circa 1970's with old cozy chairs, various wall panelling, funky flea market lamps and various old flooring....but the kitchen is well equipped and the "open concept" kitchen/living room has a beautiful view over the lake. The "sunset deck" down by the water's edge offers a spectacular sunset while cozying in the ultra-light reclining chairs..... just beautiful! Erin was " instantly" available by email throughout ....of particular use when we asked to extend our stay by a day (which was immediately accepted). We do hope to return.... and recommend Howe's Lake Cottage to any couple/ small family looking for an ultra-casual, vacation at the lake....

  • This was a perfect little getaway. Great and safe location. People were very friendly. Peggy was a great host and went above and beyond to accomodate us.

    Rachel2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of four had a wonderful time at Peggy's place. Our children 9 and 6 had lots of fun fishing and swimming in the lake. The place is in a very nice location and easy to get to areas if you need to pick up anything. We did good fishing on the lake and were able to rent a boat at Tedford's lodge and then it was easy to motor across the lake and dock it at your own dock. It worked out for all the fishing we did. Had a great time and plan on going back again next year!

    Jenn2018-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • The best vacation ever. Amazing scenery and fishing for me and great amenities within minutes. Worth every penny!

  • Great location near a thousand islands while also getting a nice getaway on a beauty lake. Peggy was a very warm and responsive host!

    Ronit2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to rent. Peggy is very responsive to texts as you are making your plans. And when you get there, the cottage is ready for a relaxing stay. We had a family wedding, and it beat sitting in a hotel room. And the cost savings you can't beat. Peggy includes so many things that I didn't expect (gas for the grill, dish soap, hand soap, tin foil, plastic wrap, toilet paper, screened canopy by the water with comfy chairs, etc). Beautiful lake to enjoy!

    Jan2018-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! Cozy cottage, great getaway for the weekend.

    Darcy2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking to spend a quiet weekend with our friends about halfway between Toronto and Montreal and this place turned out to be perfect for us. Having the lake literally at our feet was wonderful. We swam to the nearest island, took long walks, sunbathed on paddle boards, dined on the deck overlooking a stunning view, and at night we enjoyed the loon calls and starlit sky cozily gathered around the fire pit. We also meant to play a game of bocce but never got to it - hopefully next time. The cottage is rustic, with the fish mounts in the sunroom and the paintings in the living room giving you a glimpse into its history. The bathroom is new and very spacious. We appreciated the vase of flowers waiting for us. Lastly, Peggy was friendly, always available and flexible about our check-in/check-out times. We couldn't have asked for a better host!

Please check-out the YOUTUBE VIDEOS of this property that can be viewed on Youtube at the link below!
  • The place is very beautiful and very quiet, very relaxing. (No Wi-Fi, no TV, perfect for making a break and enjoying the beauty of the nature). We had a pleasant stay at Robin's, the scenery is breathtaking and the surroundings offers a lot of activities. Amazing location!!! Robin was great, he provided us all the details for the road, it was easy to communicate with him. To spend an even more enjoyable stay, consider bringing: Water bottles, (water is not drinkable), bed sheets + duvet, bath towel, shower gel, hair dryer, dishwashing liquid, hand soap, toilet paper and garbage bag. Please note that there is no trash available outside of the property, nor even in the nearest town. So, you must drive back with your garbage until you find a place to throw away your garbage. Also, don’t consider working on your laptop during your stay, network connection is weak. Enjoy your stay!! Adeline.

Our cottage is a short 25 minute drive from Kingston, Ontario, where you will be able to visit the historic Fort Henry, and the former home of Sir John A Macdonald! We also have Canoes and Kayaks are available for rent! Docking available at your doorstep!
  • This is a location is a little piece of paradise. Our host were fantastic and left us to enjoy our vacation but they were always available if we needed them. Quiet and peaceful and the view every morning and sunsets everynight were spectacular. Cabin #1 that we stayed in was a mixture of old and modern. We had satelite tv and internet but hardly used it as we wanted to tune the world out for a bit. The cabin was clean and walking in reminded me of what a old cabin should be not fancy but comfortable. A rock was provided to keep the bathroom door open when not in use just like we had in our cottage when i was younger and the kitchen table was exactly like the one my grandparent's had when i was growing up. It brought back some wonderful memories and our stay was absolutely wonderful. If you are looking for something quiet, with beautiful scenery, great swimming spot and a perfect blend of modern and aged then this is the perfect vacation spot for you. Very highly recommend this to anyone and everyone.

  • Beautiful sunset and right on the water. Convenient for boating.

    Andrew2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • When we arrived, Mary-Ellen was there to give us the key for the cottage. She lives directly next to the cottages. But you have your privacy if you want. When you need help or any information thelego to Mary-Ellen and she will help you. Kayaks are there to rent. Youcan rent them for 25 $ per day. The cottage is what we expected. No luxus, bur there is all you need. The river is just next to the cottage and we used the grill everytime it was possibel. You can swim in the river, relax or make a boattrip.

    Markus2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed two nights in Gananoque. The cabin is located directly on the lakeside. The location is more than a dream. Mary-Ellen and her husband are very friendly hosts. We had an arrival at sunset in an environment like paradise. You have enough space, you can stay there with 3 to 4 persons if you like. The cabins are a little bit older, it smells stuffy inside, the cabin would need a deep cleaning and a little renovation. It is a nice place to stay near the thousand islands.

    Martin2018-09-16T00:00:00Z

  • A lovely retreat with a nice little dock. We enjoyed our evenings on the lovely porch!

    Erin2018-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Even better than the pictures. Cottage is amazing and the views from the deck are amazing. Tranquil and relaxing location to day the least. We didn’t really spend time down at the water but the dock looked fine. We wish we had a boat to explore the area more. A lot of neat attractions in the area with the Rideau canal lock system a must see. Westport offer everything you need for an afternoon of boutique style shopping with a great bakery. We’d definitely visit again.

  • We had a relaxing enjoyable getaway. Yoga and snow shoe holiday, winter fun time. A hop to Canada and many acres of parks on the island to enjoy.

  • I don't even know where to begin to explain how PERFECT Lisa and Stephen's home was! It surpassed all of our expectations. They recently redid their home and every single touch was well thought through. Each room had a bit of a theme. Everything was spotless! She has EVERYTHING you would need, especially in the kitchen. We got a little caught up at the border on our way in to NY and we unfortunately made it back in to the states too late. Thankfully for Lisa and Stephen, there was a delicious bottle of wine waiting for us and a beautiful thank you card! The ATD they have is incredible! Random, our favorite thing in the house was a very unique oil burner they have! Please be sure to sit outside for a bit and enjoy the view of the stars. We will absolutely be coming back during warmer weather, if they will have us. Thank you again Lisa & Stephen for the unforgettable weekend!

  • Thanks again Sue and Paul. This what we were looking for and it was a nice way to relax with the nice view and the hours we have spent on the lake. Just beautiful. Cottage is superbe also.

  • Even better than expected. A wonderful spot to spend Thanksgiving with our son who is a cadet at nearby RMCC. Cooked a full Turkey dinner in the well equipped kitchen. Appreciated access to boats, fishing rods etc... Thoughtful hosts would highly recommend and would happily book again. Thanks Sue and Paul.

  • This a great cottage in the perfect place if you want to get away from it all. Sue and Paul are awesome hosts, always in touch and available in an instant. The cottage itself looks rustic on the outside, but recent renos to the bathroom and kitchen create a modern feel on the inside. Sue and Paul have definitely spent time thinking about what visitors need and want in terms of a rental. Very cozy, comfortable and relaxing. We had one really rainy day and were perfectly comfortable staying inside and dry. The lake is gorgeous. Super deep off the dock, so great for swimming, floating and fishing.

    Chris2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Paul's cottage was exactly what we were looking for. Paul met us there, gave us a tour and was available if we had any question. The cottage was clean, bright and secluded and on a beautiful lake! The cottage is well equipped and the scenery is exquisite. It is a great place to relax and recharge.

    Jerica2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • A very comfortable cottage on a beautiful lake. Excellent weather helped make it a great R & R for us for the whole week. Very quiet location enabled us to hear the loons, owls, osprey and other birds, which thrilled us.

    larry & sandra2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is a special place on a special lake - like stepping back in time with a loon in the cove every day. The house is right on the water and a dream location for someone looking for a quiet lake with great fishing & birding. Paul & Sue were attentive hosts and are committed to the property.

    Kara2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had amazing days at the cottage. Sue and Paul were very welcoming, gave us some good tips for restaurants in the area. The cottage is super nice and well equipped. Having direct access to the lake and being able to use the kanu was awesome. Thanks for the lovely and relaxing days!!

    Marlene2018-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's place is an absolutely amazing spot if you're looking for a quiet, peaceful, private getaway, right on the water! The outdoor setup, large deck(s), are laden with comfortable lounging areas - including a hammock - and clean deep water (35 feet deep right off the dock/deck) make for an amazingly relaxing, and private, spot to lounge, sun and swim! For those who enjoy golf, there's a good public course - Rivendell Golf Club - located about 12 km's from the cottage.

Whitefish Vista is a very private vacation home with fantastic views on Whitefish Lake on the Rideau Canal. Enjoy a modern cottage with all of the amenities and have complete privacy on 372 feet of shoreline. The 50 foot deck is a fantastic spot to relax with the whole family!
  • Absolutely stunning cottage on the lake, Robin explained everything really well, made it very easy for us to get comfortable! Would definitely stay here again!

    Clare2016-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • This house on Whitefish Lake was the perfect place to spend a three-day spontaneous getaway from home. The place is beautiful, roomy, very well equipped and has great views of the lake. Our kids were plesed to discover the X-Box and I was thrilled to use a Gas BBQ on which the igniter actually worked. The only mild disappointment was the fact that the lake in front of the house is quite weedy so it was a bit challenging to swim within about 50 feet of the shore. Robin (a property manager; not the owner) was very good about communicating and answering questions. He even made a call to the owner on our behalf as we were trying to figure out the telecom configurations. In terms of amenities: we were instructed to bring our own drinking water, towels, bed linens, coffee filters, etc. This was not a problem and it is common practice for cottages in this part of Ontario. However, I am not accustomed to having to bring this kind of gear to a place that rents for more than $300 per night once fees are included. Robin or the owner could consider providing a few more of these things in order to enhance guest value. All in all, we would be happy to stay here - towels and water in tow - again and may well look to do so sometime this autumn.

Dommage que les équipements tels que les serviettes, draps, etc ne soient pas fournis... Penser à prévoir son eau potable et tous les produits de nécessité : liquide vaisselle, sacs poubelle, etc.

Located on the north shore of Amherst Island near Kingston, Ontario, Solartude Cottage offers a quiet pastoral getaway. Sit by the water, swim in the lake, take long walks on a country road, cycle, and enjoy the night sky.
The cottage is aligned North-South with the North Star. Originally designed to be a self contained solar house with passive heating the design, unfortunately , did not prove out and has been conventionally modified. The fireplace stonework however, built with local labour and Island flat stone, has been retained as well as the reclaimed barn beams.
  • My daughter, 3.5 yr. old grandson and myself had a wonderful, relaxing and adventurous vacation at Solartude Cottage. The cottage is fully equipped to help make your stay as comfortable as possible - very spacious and all the comforts of home. The pictures on the air b and b site do not do this cottage justice.. Lance was waiting for us when we arrived to show us around and also to assist us as needed. Amhurst Island is a gem of a location to visit. Crossing on the ferry is a very unique and enjoyable way to travel to this hidden gem on Lake Ontario. The residents are very friendly and welcoming, making one feel like family..We hope to visit again someday and will remember this vacation for a long time to come..

    Mary2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Solartude cottage! It was clean and was fully equipped! The bathrooms were spotless! Plenty towels and spare linens! The property is large, flat grassy terrain - perfect for our kids, well kept, well manicured lawn and is very tranquil overlooking a sheep farm, two doors down. Lynda & Lance were very friendly and quick to respond to all of our questions. People on the island were also friendly. The sheep farm - topsy farm is a must visit. They had various cuts of lamb meat if you wanted to skip bringing your own and cook/bbq at the cottage. The ferry to amherst island is about 15 mins and is a very scenic ride. Overrall a great stay, we loved it!

    Marliya2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! People should go, you will not be disappointed. Linda the property manager was amazing from start to finish, always their to help! We had a phenomenal week and would go back in a heartbeat. Top marks here :)

    Danyele2018-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Solartude cottage is an exceptionally sunny, quiet and well provisioned cottage. We enjoyed waking up to the baaing of the sheep in the backyard and going to bed after watching fireflies buzz around the forest. The bedroom setup is perfect for two couples and the shared spaces are well furnished. Although our stay was not a good time for swimming, Lake Ontario is on your doorstep. A reminder that you should bring ALL your groceries and necessities with you: there's not a lot of options once you cross to the island on the ferry. We had a great, quiet and relaxing stay.

  • The cabin's location is nice and private, set apart from other houses at the end of the lake. We had a perfect white Christmas and enjoyed walks near the cabin and hiking trails in the Frontenac Provincial Park (about a 25-minute drive). Michael was super-responsive and quickly answered any questions we had. The sauna is a great amenity and easy to get going. This cabin is best for chill groups, since any goings-on in the main living/kitchen area tend to be audible in the bedrooms. Thanks for a great stay!
