“Home of the Rhody Rams, the Ryan Center is a +7000 seat multi-purpose facility, featuring NCAA Division I college basketball, concerts, comedy, and other big events. There is a souvenir shop with lots of Keaney Blue & white gear! The URI school color is named after former head basketball coach Frank Keaney, the man credited with originating the fast break, which revolutionized the game of basketball as much as the forward pass changed football.”

“Listed on the National Historic Register, the Old Washington County Jail has served as a museum for more than fifty years. Originally constructed in the 1790’s, the first jail at this location was a wooden structure with cells upstairs for prisoners and quarters downstairs where the jailer and his family lived. In 1858, the existing two-story granite cell block replaced the old wooden structure. The South County History Center, founded in 1958, operates a museum, archive and genealogy library here The mission is to preserve and interpret the material culture of South County through exhibits and study collections. ”

College Quad
“"The Quad" is the heart of the main campus at the University of Rhode Island. Surrounded by classroom buildings constructed of the iconic Westerly Granite, this grassy expanse was designed by the renowned Olmsted Brothers Landscape Architectural Firm. Depending on the time of year, URI’s Quadrangle is home for orientations, flying Frisbees, water rocket launches, snowball fights, commencements, and sun bathing. It’s where confused freshmen wander with maps in hand and confident seniors receive their diplomas. It’s where infants often attempt their first steps and where grandparents slowly search for familiar names on some of the 3,500 inscribed bricks that comprise the Centennial Walk.”
