  • We had such a lovely two nights here. The cabin is really cosy and homely inside. Looking out onto the lake is great! Plus there are so many places nearby to go on walks and Juliette has provided plenty of maps. Thanks for a great stay.

  • What a fantastic place in an ideal location for visiting the local area. Cannot recommend enough and a superb host who ensured the place was spotless with lots of little extras to assist e.g. Maps of the local area, books, dvds and games to ensure days out were enjoyed, local hostelries were known and to prevent the tv being used too much. Thank you Juliette

The Shepherd's hut sits just on the edge of Firle, one of the South Downs most iconic villages. It is a very private space, in it's own little meadow, two minutes walk to the shop and three minutes to the famous Ram Inn with Lewes and Brighton nearby
the hut is in it's own paddock overlooking the south downs, close to the pub and the little village shop. From March to the end of September i will only take two night bookings during the week end, in the week one night bookings are fine. Over the Christmas and new year period i will only take two night bookings and over Easter and the for the Love Supreme Festival a three night booking as a couple.
    everything
  • Fantastic space for a single or very snugly duo. Don't expect hot showers, ceramic hobs or electric. All off grid, loo in church cross the way. But for peace, rejuvenation, health and silence (apart from wind in the trees and cock pheasants calling for a mate)you can't be beat. plus the superlative Ram Inn down the road for breakfast lunch and dinner.....! If you can't get through cos of virus inflamation goggle peter Firle.

    Will2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to get away, and Peter was really helpful at communicating everything I needed to know. Would definitely visit again

  • Lovely tranquil setting 😊

    Olivia2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Find a stripped back, simple space with all that you really need. Wild winds from the Downs to rock you to sleep, rooks to waken you and primroses to greet you in the Spring mornings. (Plus a great pub 5 minutes walk away....)

  • It’s was a great 👍

    Anas2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very sweet and tranquil place, with a warm welcome.

    Gracie2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • The hut is nestled in a lovely spot on the edge of the village, and was perfect for me as someone wanting to get away from it for a few days. As Larkin says, "only the young can be alone freely" and whether you agree with this or not, as someone who is not young, and has a fair number of responsibilities, to have a soulful bolt hole to skedaddle to is a great boon. When I took leave of the place and thanked Peter as I left, he said that the hut was becoming a sanctuary for some. For me, it was more of a haven - for me there is something very boat-like in its compact, unfussy, recycled elegance . I look forward to clambering on board again.

    S2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Peter’s hut is so beautiful and tranquil. Perfect break for me to get away from it all and recharge. Sublime views, watched the sunrise come over the hills while having a hot tea and listening to the birds. Unlike anywhere I’ve been before, would definitely recommend.

  • Second time staying. Really liked it and Elena thought of everything

    Patrick2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We always have fun staying at the yurt, it was our third time. Even when it's cold and windy the wood burner keeps the yurt nice and cosy. There's everything you need to enjoy a very easy camping adventure. Plus Lewes is charming with lots of antique shops and cafes. We'll definitely be back.

    Charlotte2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Have just spent 2 lovely nights at Elena's yurt. I highly reccomend it. It was decorated really nicely, the facilities were good and log burner kept us nice a toasty inside even while storm Dennis raged outside. Elena was really great to make sure we had all we needed and when we ran out of firewood we were able to pick up some more from the hotel down the road. When we had a problem with the shower Elena also arranged for us to use the ones in the nearby hotel. Thank you!

    Steve2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great host. Great accommodation just as described. It's a real experience staying in a Yurt. I stayed I February, the outside temperature was about 9°c, it felt a little chilly and damp in the Yurt but that is to be expected Winter. The Yurt itself and facilities are great. The host is fantastic. Overall highly recommended. I bet this would make an amazing holiday break in Summer. In winter it is good but make sure to wrap up warm! Also bring a few bright torches as it can be dark.

    Richard2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt was beautiful in a gorgeous setting. We were there in January but it was cosy and warm with the log burner. I would thoroughly recommend staying here.

    Ceri2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great location!! Hotel staff are amazingly helpful and their food is top drawer!!

    Garry2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • We booked a VERY last minute stay in the yurt at the beginning of January. Elena was quick to respond and very accommodating of our short notice plans. The yurt is magical but if staying in winter bring layers and socks! Would highly recommend for an off grid experience.

    Millie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z

Halland , East Sussex, United Kingdom

This elegant self-contained Edwardian wing of the main house is particularly suitable for families. It features a large fireplace with wood-burning stove, large comfortable sofas and a private garden. The accommodation includes a double bedroom featuring 2 beds together which can be pulled apart, a double let-down bed in a corner of the large living room and 2 single divans to one side of the dining area. Perfectly situated for events at Charleston, Glyndebourne, Firle, Lewes & Eastbourne, as well as the Seven Sisters, the Downs & the sea. All linen, towels and cleaning are included.
Pekes Wing is part of our 'Distinctly Different' Pekes private estate, centred on its ancient Tudor Manor House, and including other picturesque buildings like the old double-Oast House. Guests in the Wing can enjoy facilities such as the heated indoor Swimming Pool and Tennis Court, and stroll around and enjoy the extensive gardens and parkland. The Pekes estate, well away from any road, is set deeply into the very quiet and peaceful Sussex Weald farm lands (organic - no sprays), and has beautiful views across ancient unspoiled countryside. Beyond that there is the stunning coastline, the seaside towns, historic places like Battle and great houses and gardens. For children there are two nearby exciting adventure venues, as well as farms to visit, etc. East Sussex has great charm, and Pekes is very much part of that. The Wing adjoins but is separate from the Manor house; if both houses are taken the connecting door can be opened. It is very peaceful and snug, and has a charming 'column garden' to sit out in.
The immediate neighborhood of Pekes is the Sussex Weald with its numerous footpaths and lanes running through ancient farmland and many little woods. Just a few miles away is the South Downs National Park, incorporating the stunning Seven Sisters chalk cliffs, wonderful sheep-grazed downland, lovely natural beaches, charming villages and some lovely houses - all of which has inspired artists and writers for nearly 200 years. The seaside towns of Eastbourne and Brighton are not far off, and it's a short drive to historic Battle, and the fateful events of 1066.
  • Our weekend at The Pekes was exactly what we were after, a relaxing and peaceful escape in beautiful surroundings. Kildare was a great host and went out of his way to ensure everything was spot on during our stay.

    Chris2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great accommodation, great country house, nice and helpful landlords.

    Kai2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • It was an incredible vacation, thanks to the warm and kind welcome of Kildare and the wonderful house we've stayed in. Everything was prepared perfectly well, we enjoyed fireplace each evening, visite a lot of nearby cities and places, the atmosphere in the house was exciting as huge history felt in each piece of it.

    Alla2019-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Guests can expect a wonderfully unique experience. All the properties at Pekes Manor are better "in person" than the photos might lead you to believe. The setting is what makes the stay so enjoyable. Rolling fields, and perfect tranquility. Our wedding guests stayed in all of the properties and loved their experiences. All amenities were as described, and Kildare and his team were a joy to work with. Overall, an incredible experience.

  • Having just returned from a weekend with a couple of girls friends in The Wing we are in awe of what a fabulous place Pekes is. The perfect place to unwind and get away from it all, leaving the stresses of family life and work behind. We loved the fabulous architecture, period furniture and artefacts that filled our home-from-home. As we sat in the hot-tub and then swam in the pool surrounded by lush foliage and mosaics we had to keep pinching ourselves to check it was real. Next time we'll be sure to make use of the sauna too. The Wing contained everything we needed for the weekend - milk was in the fridge on arrival and there were enough logs in basket to enable us to have a roaring fire on the first night. Kildare checked in on us the next morning to see if everything was alright and brought us more logs for a reasonable cost. Pekes really is a hidden gem of a place. We promise to return as soon as the opportunity arises.

    Jane2018-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous and different, set in a beautiful location. Couldn't have asked for more.

    Helen2018-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our family really enjoyed the week we spent in the Wing at Pekes. It was very spacious for the five of us. It was a bit cold, but we turned the heating up and the beds and duves were very warm and comfy so we weren’t cold at night at all. The kids loved the heated pool. The location was perfect for us, quick drive away from the seaside. Also we went for walks in the local area and had very nice Sunday lunch in the local pub, The Gun . We had a great holiday all together.

    Niina2017-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • The Pekes is a gem of a place in the Sussex countryside, and the grounds are absolutely beautiful, especially the swimming pool nestled inside a magical greenhouse. We had some confusion with guests staying in the main house next door to the Wing, which wasn't great, but Kildare and his team were very responsive, and his staff even gave us a lift to the station the following morning rather than letting us book a taxi. The team was keen to know that we were comfortable and happy, and that makes us want to return.

The Escape is a one-bedroom cottage, with an open plan living area downstairs. Upstairs has a double bedroom and shower room, with a large walk-in shower. The cosy warmth from the log burner makes The Escape perfect for romantic breaks or relaxation
The Escape is decorated in a modern functional style with, hopefully everything you need to enjoy your stay.
The Escape is set in open countryside, with an excellent 16th Century country Pub next door. The Cock serves great food and is a firm favourite with all our guests.
  • A truly lovely stay, gorgeous tea & scones on arrival which set the tone for a wonderful few days. The cottage is very warm & homely. It’s a perfect location for getting out & about. The little dog called in on us Sunday evening, I think she smelt the lamb we were cooking. She came in and was very friendly. The log burner was wonderful, we had it on both Saturday & Sunday evening. Really lovely cottage, full of character. Beautiful waking up to the fields out the back & even saw a few bunnies jumping around. Joy always replies with quick responses and allowed us extra time this morning to check out. Would thoroughly recommend

    Stephen2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous cottage. Exceptionally clean, tidy and Joy is an outstanding host. Perfect location for a quiet getaway.

    Jess2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nothing at all could have improved our stay at The Escape. Joy welcomed us even though we were slightly early, the accommodation was immaculately clean, comfortable and stylish. We loved the extra touches of the Christmas tree and the scones. It was the perfect haven amid a very busy Christmas.

  • Better than we could have hoped. Clean, tidy, private and cosy! Thanks so much! See you again in November

    Lucy2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Escape is aptly named. This little holiday cottage is a wonderful place to escape to and is ideally placed for exploring the beautiful South Downs and Sussex coast. The place is tastefully decorated, well-equipped and spotlessly clean. Our little dog loved the garden, though the weather didn't allow us to sit outside and enjoy it much. The owners are on hand next door if you need them but are unobstrusive and the attached garden is sufficiently separated from theirs to ensure your privacy. All in all we loved the Escape, one of the best holiday cottages we have visited recently and hope to visit again sometime soon.

Our home is just under 200 years. It can be a dusty house, if anyone is expecting a modern home this is not it. We are not a hotel but enjoy meeting people of all cultures. We respect your privacy. The bedroom does have personal items in it such as children’s stuffed toys. As we close down for summer due to visits from family. We like people to feel at home when they stay.
We have pets three cats one dog. Two runner ducks and three chickens You will have use of kitchen if you wish. This is a family home. We like our guests to feel at home. Please note we are not a hotel.
We live on a private road which we own. But there are another 8 old houses on this Road. Which by the way is unadopted. Everyone looks out for each other. My husband has lived in this house for over 40 years. It is old and dusty. But everyone that visits loves our home. It appears to have a calming affect on visitors.

  • Very nice lodge, deally placed for reaching many of the tourist attractions in the area. Mike was very helpful and communication was very good. Slight down side is the proximity to the main road which can be heard at certain times and car doors being slammed at night. Lodge is nicely equipped and can be kept toasty warm though we really missed having hooks for outdoor clothing in the hall. Overall enjoyed our stay, feels very safe with the electric gate. Parking space is a little on the small side if you have a very big car.

  • Absolutely Fabulous! If you are looking for a safe, tranquil environment....then please do book this place! The views are just stunning and the outside space is so much bigger than the photos show. We were greeted by Linda on arrival and after a quick tour were left to our own devices. ( Linda also left us plenty of wood for the fire pit which we co9uld use whenever we wished. Plenty of outdoor areas to make use of. Inside, everything has been thought of in order to make for a perfect stay. The bed is probably one of the best we have stayed in ( making it hard to leave for work in the mornings!) Linda and Ron are just really good people, who have created a very lovely environment and are so friendly. Cannot wait to have another stay here.

  • Janet was perfect host, the place was of a great value. It was cozy warm place where I relaxed after a long day out. There was a great network of footpaths in the neighbouring area, lovely countryside, I enjoyed the stay even in November. I was very pleased with this choice.

    Jana2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very easy checkin and great communication, and Janet gave local info on arrival. Place was bigger than expected, and contained everything we needed for a few days stay, very peaceful area, and two nearby pubs within a few minutes walking distance both do food.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Janet's place. Communication was straight-forward, helpful and clear. We had some great recommendations for local festivals - and had a great final day of our trip because of this. The annexe was exactly what we needed (and more than I was expecting) - a good space with super-comfortable bed, equipped kitchen and living area. Thank you!

The Getaway is a self-contained studio apartment comprising a modern and spacious living area, large shower room and a sunny reception area opening on to the beautifully designed garden.
The Getaway is decorated in a modern functional style with, hopefully everything you need to enjoy your stay.
The Getaway is set in open countryside, with an excellent 16th Century country Pub next door. The Cock serves great food and is a firm favourite with all our guests.
  • I've struck AirBnB Gold! The Getaway is tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, well thought out space, conveniently located for my work in Lewes. It has a good shower, and top of the list, a very comfortable bed. Joy provides excellent communication, a detailed folder on the property and local area, and a snack on arrival! - Really couldn't ask for more, and would highly recommend. Many thanks, and hope to stay again sometime.

    Roger2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • The place is really nice, spotless clean, Joy welcomed us with the most amazing scones I've ever eaten (and vegan, many thanks for this attention!!!!). It is a really quiet place and the surroundings are stunning! I definitely recommend a stop there!

  • Joy is the perfect host. We had a wonderful stay over Christmas with our dog. The Getaway is cosy and immaculate and in such a convenient location only a short drive to Lewes, Brighton and our relatives in Seaford. Next door is The Cock pub where the staff are friendly and we had a lovely meal one evening. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. Thank you Joy, Happy New Year.

Gate Cottage, which sleeps up to 6 people in 2 bedrooms plus a sofa-bed in the Living room, is a small cosy tile-hung country cottage with a nice sitting room (with open fireplace), a dining room and kitchen with lovely views, and a secure garden. Perfectly situated for events at Charleston, Glyndebourne, Firle, Lewes & Eastbourne, as well as the Seven Sisters, the Downs & the sea. All towels, linen and cleaning are included.
Gate Cottage is part of our 'Distinctly Different' Pekes Manor private estate, centred on its ancient Tudor Manor House, and including picturesque buildings like its old double-Oast House. Guests can enjoy facilities such as the heated indoor Swimming Pool and Tennis Court, and stroll around and enjoy the extensive gardens and parkland. Gate Cottage is at the entrance of the estate, is very peaceful and has lovely views across the park and fields.
The seaside towns of Eastbourne and Brighton are not far off, and its a short drive to historic Battle.
  • We had a great time at Gates Cottage / Pekes Manor. The cottage itself was basic but as expected and had everything we needed. We enjoyed making use of the facilities and exploring the beautiful surroundings

    Antony2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very comfortable in the Gate Cottage and can recommend the accommodation.

    Markus2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Gate Cottage for my daughter's birthday party. Kildare could not have been more helpful and friendly and my daughter and her friends had a great time especially in the pool and on the tennis court. Pekes Manor is fabulous and looked amazing in the (limited) June sunshine. I look forward to coming back very soon. Thanks very much

    Victoria2017-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Peke's is set in stunning countryside and the gate cottage is very comfortable and charming. This is the ultimate country retreat, with local free range eggs for breakfast, plenty of walking routes around the South Downs to explore and a working fire place to snuggle beside in the colder months. Also extremely convenient if you are attending a wedding at Hawthbush farm, which is only a 20 minute walk away. A big thanks to everyone at Peke's, especially for staying in touch about the coat I left behind!

Friendly Lane in a small village in East Sussex, England. The village is 1350 population, approximately. There is a pub, village shop, tea room, hairdresser, osteopath, holistic vet, post office, lots of great walks nearby ....... for the moment available for 3 days minimum and a week maximum. The site will not let me take off monthly stays. One person or a couple. I will only accept women if one person. Mature visitors please.
The Lane and the Village are very friendly.

Newly converted in 2016 our bungalow is situated in a peaceful rural location in the village of Ripe and close to the South Downs with its many beautiful country walks. A lovely quiet location but close to Lewes, Brighton, Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells, Battle and Hastings to name but a few towns. Within 15 minutes from the renowned Glyndebourne Opera House, 30 minutes from the new i360 in Brighton and many other great attractions. A fantastic base to venture out from.
Built with disabled access with ramp to door and level floors throughout the bungalow. Fenced off wood decking and grassed area plus access to tennis court.
  • Paula's place is great! The rooms are modern, light and warm (for our winter stay). The bedrooms and bathrooms are very generous spaces due to the way it's been converted, bigger than you might think from the pictures. The open plan living / kitchen / dining is a great family room with a lovely view. Our two little boys enjoyed it a lot! Paula is the perfect host being nearby to welcome you or help with questions.

    Tom2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house is spacious and well-equipped, with everything we needed for our stay, including thoughtful touches like Christmas decorations, which thrilled my children. Paula made us feel very welcome, and we had a lovely stay.

  • Paula’s place is a little gem - beautifully kept, spacious, clean and peaceful. Rooms are spacious and facilities great - the photos don’t do the property justice. A couple of bonuses were the tennis court, which was in great condition and loads of parking space. Paula made us feel very welcome and it was good to know that she was handy if needed. Other facilities such us good WiFi and Sky TV were useful for the times when we chilled out. Highly recommended.

Luxury shepherds hut nestled in the Sussex countryside. Custom made by the renowned hut maker ' Plankbridge'. Perfect for an escape from the city or a romantic hideaway. Well located for Lewes, The South Downs, Glyndebourne, Firle and the Ashdown Forest. With no other huts on the farm you won't be disturbed. Hot shower, Wood burner, Gas fired BBQ, Electricity (please note that this not powerful enough for a hairdryer or hair tongs), Fire pit, Camping stove, quality bedding and soft towels.
  • Lovely location, wonderfully presented hut in a secluded location... worth a stay even if only for one night! The hosts were brilliant and made us feel at home

  • Such a lovely relaxing and peaceful getaway. Would recommend highly to those looking for some peace and quiet :)

    Kate2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot in your very own field. Myself and a close friend stayed at the hut to get away from the Brighton city life. The hut provides a quiet, rural, green getaway. Onsite facilities are fantastic and somehow the engineering behind the shower provides a hot powerful experience. The hut has an excellent log burner and outdoor camping stove. There is a local pub which hosts an older clientele, other pubs are a further walk, therefore, its wise to stock up on your own wine prior to arrival.

    Becky2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the hut! Very thoughtful touches and having a whole field to ourself was amazing for us and our dog! The weather let us down but the hit kept ya warm cosy and dry. We’ll be back when we can bank on the weather. Super comfy bed by the way!!

    Amy2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome - cute and quirky place to get away from it all!

    Thomas2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great 3 nights in the hut with our two mini schnauzers. They loved having a field to themselves, and I loved the fact the bed went length-ways rather than across the cabin (as I’m 6’5”). Bed was very comfy and there was plenty of logs etc to make sure we kept warm. Loved the local forest, great for running and dog-walking. A lovely stay.

  • Sparkling clean and extremely tastefully built and furnished, the Shepherd’s Hut is a wonderful, tranquil space where you can relax and enjoy the views over the landscape dotted with pheasants. The facilities are fantastic for such a small space and make the whole thing extremely functional, including for cooking, heating (it was winter and, if anything, we were too warm), showering, sleeping and reading. We also did some remote working and found that Vodafone had really good coverage.

  • Steve, is a brilliant host. His communication was great right from the beginning of booking up until we arrived on Valentine’s Day. He popped in to say hello and gave very good directions to the pub for the evening. The space was very clean and very welcoming. Although only for one night, we had a great stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him. We were also chuffed to see the chickens make an appearance too!

  • Steve is a brilliant host. The annex room was just right for my stay in Sussex. The description is very accurate. Steve responded to messages very quickly and provided very clear instructions for my check-in. Thank You Steve for sharing local knowledge of places to visits and for your kindness and hospitality. I will certainly look your place up again if I am travelling to Sussex. Excellent value for money.

  • Juliet and her husband Rob made us very welcome and the room and breakfast exceeded our expectations. The bed in particular was very comfortable indeed. A Rolls-Royce B&B to be sure.

    Mike2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit to Juliet and everything was as lovely as we remembered it - enough said really?

    Grant2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We were attending a funeral in Lewes and chose this place as the accommodation looked excellent and it wasn’t too far from the town. We had a long drive from Wales and our host suggested that we might like to check in early in order to freshen up before the funeral. She was willing to leave a key for us so that we could gain entry before her return home. This was so trusting on her part and we really appreciated this gesture. The accommodation is lovely and very clean, with an extremely comfortable bed. It was good to have our own en suite bathroom. The whole family is very welcoming and we felt more like friends, especially chatting to James, their son! We enjoyed a lovely breakfast and nothing is too much trouble. We can definitely recommend this place.

    Ann2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • On arrival we were greeted by the lovely Juliet, introduced to the family who are just lovely. The whole family made us feel extremely welcome, the property was very clean, very welcoming and just felt like home. Our room was exceptionally clean, with the nicest touches! Everything we needed and more was laid out for us! Juliet and her family accommodated our needs, as we were there on business we had to leave early in the morning and this was no issue, breakfast was laid out for us before leaving each morning. We highly recommend staying here, the area is nice with a lovely local pub- Juliet and her family should be very proud of themselves as we would love to return for another stay. Just a perfect booking, great value for money- amazing hosts. Thank you so very much for everything. :-)

Quiet and comfortable en suite private room . The room is at the back of the house and away from any traffic noise so you can have a peaceful, restful night's sleep, even though our house is situated on the main road in the heart of Ringmer . We are ideally situated for Lewes (3 miles away); the South Downs and Brighton (15 miles away). We are also only 2 miles away from the world famous Glyndebourne Opera House. We enjoy hosting and like to help our guests feel at home and enjoy their stay!
Your bedroom is downstairs at the back of our house overlooking the decking and garden. It is a quiet peaceful, private room. The bed is comfortable. There is a TV, and tea and coffee making facilities. The en-suite is modern and has a walk-in shower, toilet and sink.
Ringmer is a big, friendly village with local shops, pubs where you can get a meal. There are plenty of local walks and cycle rides the door step. It is an ideal place to stay to explore our lovely local area, whether you want to walk on the downs or visit lively Lewes, fashionable Brighton, or go to the opera at Glyndebourne. There are often local food and arts festivals in nearby villages and towns, and the famous Lewes Bonfire takes place every November 5th!

  • Sharon really does go the extra mile to make you at home. There are so many extra little touches in the room, coffee, wine (yes wine , 2 small bottles), crispa, chocolates and a great selection of shampoos and conditioners etc and even paracetamol! We visited the Anchor pub next door. A good selection of beers and good food. Brian and Louise

  • Lovely place, on the main road but very quiet. Sharon left lots of tips and even left us earplugs for the bonfire celebrations. As she wasn't going to be in when we stayed she left a friendly note how to get etc. Would recommend

  • A beautiful home in a beautiful location! Amazing hospitality and the fridge full of fresh breakfast food and prosecco was a lovely touch!

    Chloe2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the barn, Silvana thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation itself was very clean with little touches that made you feel pampered and gave you that holiday feeling. Knowledge of the local area was good and we took advantage of our hosts recommendations to visit Middle Farm and Alfriston. I cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough, a little gem amid the East Sussex countryside.

    Emma2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning property with outstanding hospitality, I cannot praise enough. If you are considering this property do not hesitate just book it now! Oh and try the local pub.

    Annie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing bank holiday weekend in Silvana’s annex. The hosts went over and above to make us feel welcome, offering to store our bikes and leaving us plenty of delicious options for breakfast. The annex itself is very clean and comfortable, with a comfy bed and a powerful shower. Everything was spotless and we couldn’t have hoped for a nicer base for enjoying the South Downs by bike. Would definitely recommend!

  • Stayed here for a wedding in Laughton. Lovely little Airbnb but what set it head and shoulders above the rest were the hosts. Wonderful and helpful people who stocked the fridge with unexpected breakfast bits, food and drink. Not to mention, fresh eggs from the chickens! All in all, cracking place to stay and easy to check in / check out. Thank you!

  • Beautiful accommodation - clean and comfortable . Added extras like fresh farm eggs juice selection of teas etc made it very special. Silvana has thought of everything and made it really homely . The furnishings are beautiful. The towels are soft and the bed linen crisp and clean. We were made to feel very very welcome. Would thoroughly recommend staying here . Great hosts. A big thank you

  • My husband and I, our Labrador and 4 month old baby had a lovely two night stay in the hut. Our dog had the time of his life, he was so happy! We went to the Pub at the end of the lane which was also very dog friendly and there were lovely walks right on the doorstep. The hut was lovely and snug for our baby and it was just perfect for some much needed family time. Jean was wonderfully kind and thoughtful and we won’t hesitate to book again in the summer.

    Zoe2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We were visiting a friend in Brighton and wanted somewhere we could stay, for a very reasonable price and a bit of adventure. A quaint cozy little hut. With big character and lots of facilities. Super dog friendly. A comfy pull out sofa bed with plenty of pillows and cushions. We fit perfectly even with the dog at our feet. Toasty underfloor heating helped us stay warm all night. A paddock for our little Jug Dog to run around in sniffing for rabbits and deer. A kitchen and toilet area just across the paddock. Plenty of lighting and torches provided for any late night toilet requirements. An outside shower, which My husband braved in the rain while i laughed at him from the hut. Was perfectly heated from the hits combi boiler.(There is a Ishower in the stable but I wanted to use the outside one because it was there!) Breakfast was provided, self service. We have never rented accommodation with such an incredible choice. Bacon, eggs, beans, water, juice, tea, coffee just to name a few. The lovely owner, was very welcoming and gave some lovely advice about dinner plans, walks for the dog and just really cared about our stay being the best it could be. We chose this thinking it would be fun. We left wishing we could stay longer.

    Amy2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • A top class stay and I can only endorse all the positive comments that have gone before.

    Rob2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location, perfect host who can’t do enough for her guests and an amazing break away from the world. The hut is fantastically situated for the local amenities and having the paddock as a safe area for pets is an added bonus. We had a very relaxing night and will most definitely stay again when we are in the area!

    David2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We have just enjoyed a lovely 2 night stay at this delightful location. Jean-Mary is a wonderful host, welcoming and friendly. The hut is comfortable and the kitchen fully equipped with everything you could need. The paddock has plenty of seating areas and a fire pit and choice of bbq’s if required. There are toys provided for dogs and also outdoor games for entertainment. There are 2 showers and loved the outside one which added to the experience! It was great to have the enclosed space for our nervous dog who thoroughly enjoyed the freedom of the paddock and for us to be able to relax and let him explore without worrying. Grazing deer could be seen this morning on the adjacent land which was lovely. Would thoroughly recommend for a relaxing and peaceful break away and looking forward to returning.

    Danielle2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Jean-Mary couldn’t have been a more fantastic host, communication was great and the hut is amazing. We totally relaxed and our dog has had the best weekend. Thank you, it was just what we needed xx

  • The place on arrival was beautiful. Centered in a very quiet location away from main roads and everyday noises. The space was huge with plenty of roaming room within the paddock and walking trails outside. Fell in love with it on site and had realised I've stumbled on one hell of a hidden gem. It was just great to get away from the hustle and bustle of London City living and working. Jean-Mary was on site to great us and straight away showed up around the whole paddock which had a lot more to it than meets the eye [from the pictures] She was available whenever we needed anything as her house is in the near distance from the field though full privacy is given. She's an absolutely delightful host along with her 2 dogs and the pet goose who you can see roaming the opposing grounds. Kudos to the host. The paddock as mentioned is fully enclosed so our dog who's very active and quite explorer tested every corner of the paddock for proof. My partner and I were able to enjoys ourselves while we left the dog to roam the grounds without worrying. There are two showers, an adjoining shower on the side which is refreshingly cold, great for waking up then a hot shower inside in the lovely kitchen part. Towels, showergel even dressing gowns all provided. There is a stocked fridge with milk, eggs, bacon which we cooked on the bbqs provided each morning. Tea coffee and sugar is also provided, as well as jams, croissants and bread. During the days we done beach trips with the dog as Brighton and Eastbourne aren't very far and have many quiet and remote beaches in the surrou ding areas. Our evenings were spend sat around the fire pit where the 'nature boy' part of me came out to light this bad boy up. Once started it was relaxing, clear open skies, perfect for star gazing. Make sure you bring them marshmallows [if that's your thing] We will definatelly be back, we've even told all our friends and family about this place which they're keen on exploring someday also. It's always nice being the one to tell people about something trulygreat you've found and pass on the recommendations. Thank you again for a wonderful long weekend. Taran, Mika and Scruffy 😁

Tudor View is a spacious self-contained cottage-type bungalow with a comfortable kitchen/dining room and a TV sitting room. It has beautiful views on both sides – over to the manor house and across miles of unspoilt Sussex countryside. Tudor View sleeps up to 7 people in 2 bedrooms plus a folding bed and a bed settee. Perfectly situated for events at Charleston, Glyndebourne, Firle, Lewes & Eastbourne, as well as the Seven Sisters, the Downs & the sea. All linen, towels and cleaning are included.
Tudor View is part of our 'Distinctly Different' Pekes private estate, centred on its ancient Tudor Manor House, and including other picturesque buildings like the old double-Oast House. Guests in Tudor View can enjoy facilities such as the heated indoor Swimming Pool and Tennis Court, and stroll around and enjoy the extensive gardens and parkland. Tudor View is close to the Manor house, and is ideal for anyone wishing to be a 'semi-detached' part of the Manor party. It is very peaceful and snug, has its own secure completely private garden with terrace, and stunning views across the rolling unspoiled Sussex countryside.

The Tack Barn is our super stylish and sustainable holiday cottage here at Upper Lodge. It is tucked into a quiet woodland corner overlooking the pond with lush gardens all around and kitted out with products and art from local makers. Ideally located for the countryside and the South Downs National Park. Hop into the hammock and sit by a glowing fire-pit in the summer, or snuggle up in front of the wood-burner in the winter - the Tack Barn is special all year round.
The main living area is an exceptionally bright and lofty room with french windows opening straight onto the deck, the outdoor dining space and fire pit. There are beautiful views, over the pond and through the trees onto fields. In chilly weather you can light the wood-burning stove and settle down on the sofa. We have fitted out the kitchen with everything a food-lover will need in the hope of encouraging you to make the most of our local food and drink. In the bedroom there is a king-sized bed from which you can look out at the view, with crisp Egyptian cotton sheets and cushions. The double doors open directly onto the deck and there is also plenty of hanging space and drawers. There is room for a cot too, which we can provide on request. The bathroom has a double ended bath with shower over, sink and WC. We provide the towels and candles for you. The wrap-around deck connects you to the woodland garden and pond. There is a sheltered outdoor dining space for balmy days and a fire pit for chilly ones. At night listen out for the owls in the wood. There are some wonderful artists and makers working in and around Lewes, some even work in the studios here at Upper Lodge, so it seemed like a good idea to use some of our favourite products and art in the barn.
This is a wonderful area to explore. We are very close to the South Downs National Park and wonderful walking. The spectacular South Downs Way stretches from Winchester to Eastbourne and near us at its eastern end are the iconic landscapes at Seven Sisters, Cuckmere Haven and Beachy Head. Sussex has always been a haven for artists and writers, with many of their homes to visit and art festivals. The country homes and haunts of the Bloomsbury Group are all on our doorstep including the Woolf's house in Rodmell and Charleston Farmhouse. Our county town of Lewes is ten minutes away, with its historic high street, independent shops, Norman castle and Bonfire celebrations. Excellent for antique hunting, second-hand bookshops and auction houses. There are many surrounding Downland villages worth exploring, notably Alfriston, Firle and Ditchling.
  • This place provided an oasis of luxury and calm with wonderful countryside on the doorstep. Corina and Dominc are wonderful and knowledgeable hosts. It was a hard place to leave behind and we will most certainly be back

  • Corina was a great host and left an amazing little selection of local bread, butter, jam and apple juice for us when we arrived. The barn itself is beautiful and very cosy with a fire in the log burner. Highly recommended!

  • As always we had an amazing time. Corina and Dominic are amazing host. The amenities are very good and the views stunning. Thank you again for a very memorable weekend.

  • A lovely, comfortable and stylish eco-barn with beautiful surrounding areas to explore with a welcoming host. It was a pleasure staying there and would definitely recommend. Not too far from local amenities and areas to visit.

  • A warm friendly welcome from Corina was so nice. Once settled in it was apparent this had all that we needed, peace, quiet, and privacy, in oh so comfortable accomodation. A good base if going out in East Sussex, or just stay in and chill. Thank you Corona and Dominic

A quiet, rural retreat. A completely private, spacious bedroom, shower room and kitche/diner. Ideal for walkers, cyclists, opera goers, weekends away or anyone wanting to explore East Sussex.
The guest area is totally separate from the house and is above the garage with its own door. There is parking right outside and bikes can be stored in the garage. Stairs lead to a large hallway, newly installed kitchen with dining area and lounge. The kitchen has everything you need to enjoy your stay: kettle, toaster, stove, hob, fridge with freezer compartment and microwave. We supply a selection of teas, coffee, sugar, seasonings, small amount of milk and breakfast cereals. Also things like kitchen roll and clingfilm are supplied if making pack lunches etc. An iron and board are also provided. There is a small dining area and comfy sofa and TV with freeview channels and DVD player. We have a large and varied DVD library you are more than welcome to borrow from. There is no wifi at present. The bathroom has a power shower, sink and toilet. Towels, shower gel and shampoo are supplied. A hair dryer is also available. The spacious bedroom has a comfy kingsized bed with lots of pillows and a dual electric blanket. There is also another sofa and single futon which could be used for an additional person or child for additional £5 charge. A travel cot, stair gate and highchair are also available free of charge on request. Dogs are welcome and there is room for a large dog bed in the hallway but we do ask that they are kept out of the bedroom and off the sofas.
It is a rural location so car or bikes are essential. There is a great local pub 25 minutes walk away and lots of other lovely village or gastro pubs nearby. Less than a mile from Bentley Wildfowl and Motor museum, close to the South Downs for walking or biking, lots of beautiful footpaths. About 15minutes drive to historical Lewes, about 30minutes to Brighton.

  • If anybody is wondering whether to stay here, I would say definitely book it! The rooms were cosy, warm and very clean. I'm not sure why, but I was expecting a studio flat, but there is a separate bedroom, kitchen diner and shower room. All well equipped and I absolutely loved the addition of the electric blanket. Rose and her husband were lovely hosts, friendly but not too intrusive. A definite five star recommendation.

    Alan2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy, comfortable space. Extremely clean and very stylish. Surrounded by lovely countryside and within easy reach of Lewes by car.

  • All you could ask for if you are looking to get away from it all. A lovely property, spotlessly clean and well-equipped. The host's communication was excellent.

    Jason2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! The apartment is beautiful and everything looks really new. It’s also very well equipped, which is great when travelling with a baby. We went for beautiful walks. We didn’t get to meet Rose, but she left a paper with tips on it. Loved the walk to the pub! We’d always come back there!

    Ina2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this place is wonderful. All fixtures, fittings and equipment are of good quality (possibly the most luxurious bedroom carpet I've ever felt underfoot). The hosts are charming and helpful and the location, with its birdsong and mature trees, is enchanting.

  • This is the second time we’ve stayed here and we’ll definitely be back! If you’re staying in the area there’s no better place to be. The apartment is really spacious and comfortable. The bed is perfect for a good nights sleep and it is really quiet. The kitchen is well equipped and has a generous supply of teas and coffee. Looking out of the large windows onto the garden and fields you can watch the wild birds and rabbits. Amelia is a very lovely host and even brings freshly baked croissants around for breakfast. Next to a pub and eat reach to the downs and the seafront, it’s in a great location. Excellent valve, highly recommend

  • Lovely, light and spacious accommodation. Very thoughtful touches and very welcoming. Thank you!

    Ellie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous stay. The accommodation is completely self-contained with a separate entrance. The space is well set out and very stylish yet homely. We wanted for nothing! The kitchen is very well stocked (there is even a washing machine!), there is a spacious living room and we had access to Sky Movies. The bed was very comfortable and there is a walk-in shower in the bathroom. Amelia was onsite to greet us and show us through each of the rooms, and was easily contactable during our stay. She was very welcoming and dropped off warm croissants for breakfast before we left on the Sunday. We also had a lovely evening and meal at the Berwick Inn which is in easy walking distance. I highly recommend this property and hope to stay again next time we are in the area.

    Helene2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Peter and Amelia’s place was very cosy and clean. We managed to pick the weekend where storm Dennis hit so our walking plans in the South Downs were cancelled but it was lovely to chill out in the Annex, watch TV and listen to the rain :). Lewes is very close by so we went there and looked around the shops etc:). On Saturday and Sunday Amelia came round with hot croissants and jam which was a lovely touch. Fresh flowers , milk and lovely clean fresh towels are little touches that we really appreciate😊 . Thank you Peter and Amelia. I would definitely recommend this place.

  • The annexe is a great base for exploring the South Downs, Brighton and beyond. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and peaceful. The hosts are friendly and helpful and we felt welcome and relaxed in the space. We would highly recommend this Airbnb.

The Annexe has everything we needed and more, fresh flowers, well stocked refreshments/breakfast selection and was very clean and cosy. Lovely to wake up in the countryside. Happy to recommend and would definitely stay again.

It has a modern, luxurious yet comfy interior. The accommodation has a lovely sunny open plan kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen is modern, well equipped and fitted with high quality appliances. The lounge looks out through fully glazed french doors which open out to its very own large patio garden. Perfect for entertaining, the garden gets the afternoon and evening sun, with stunning sunsets as the lodge is west facing. Upstairs the master bedroom has a king size bed and en suite shower room. The twin room has two full size single beds and an en suite bathroom. Both bedrooms have plenty of storage space to hang clothes or tuck away suitcases. All in all a fantastic base from which to explore all Sussex has to offer.
This two bedroom Lodge is perfect for a family or for two couples sharing. It's just a short 3 minute walk from the center of the village. East Hoathly a great pub and a lovely gift shop / cafe. Both of which serve fantastic food should you wish to eat out or mingle with the friendly locals. The village also has its own shop and post office plus other small businesses including a busy hairdressers.
  • This is a lovely little cottage set in within beautiful grounds. The cottage was sparkling clean and well- equipped in every aspect from towels to pots, various teas and a bag of toys and books to keep our son entertained. We had a lovely time spotting the birds as we breakfasted together! We would highly recommend this place and will certainly be back another day. Thank you Stephanie!

  • Perfect place to stay in East Sussex. The cottage is excellent, with everything you need for a stay including Netflix which we took advantage of (the weather unfortunately was unremitting rain!) Everything was in very good order and sparkling clean throughout. The courtyard garden is lovely even though the rain meant we couldn't enjoy sitting in it, we did enjoy looking out at it. The bed in the double room is really comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe space etc. which is always useful but not always available in cottages. Kitchen fully fitted out - we ate in a couple of times but also went to the King's Head in the village a couple of times. A lovely, friendly pub, with good pub food and we both enjoyed the Winter Solstice ale. Our dog, Bertie, was made welcome everywhere we went and he really enjoyed the King's Head too as he managed to wrangle quite a few dog biscuits out of them. Highly recommend this cottage even in the appalling weather we had.

  • Simply first-class, spotlessly clean, modern, warm, quiet and well-appointed accomodation in a beautiful rural setting, whilst close to all amenities. From this location we visited Eastbourne, Uckfield, Tunbridge Wells, Rotherfield, Cross-In Hand, Lewes, Brighton, Newhaven, Ashdown Forrest and The Long Man of Wilmington. The pub was great, the Pizza Van on Wednesday night was delicious. Highly recommended!

    Darlene2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is perfect for us as we needed 2 en suite bedrooms. Spotlessly clean with a well equipped kitchen. The location is superb, down a quiet private driveway within a couple of minutes walk of a cosy village pub with it’s own brewery. Lovely private garden which would be perfect in the summer for al fresco dining.

    Ian2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated cottage equipped with everything you could need for a relaxing stay (and more!). This place feels like a lot of thought has gone into it and is perfectly located for trips to many local towns and beaches. The pub and village shop are welcoming and less than ten minutes walk for days when you don’t want to drive. Thoroughly recommended!

Detached chalet bungalow in the heart of rural Sussex. Guests have the whole chalet to themselves. There is a parking space for one car. This is an ideal location for exploring Sussex. The seaside resorts of Brighton and Eastbourne are each 45 mins away, the historic county town of Lewes is nearer, and for shopping, the market towns of Uckfield (8 miles) and Hailsham (5 miles) are very close. Drusillas, Knockhatch, and Arlington Stadium are minutes away.
Golden Cross Park is a secure gated site with 29 chalets. There is a resident caretaker, and the site is protected by cctv. Across the road is a 24/7 BP petrol station with grocery store.
There are numerous attractions within easy driving distance (a list, which is far from comprehensive, is included in the photographs in the listing). Across the road is a 24hour BP petrol station with "Londis" grocery store. This would be an ideal "bolthole" for a person or a couple wanting to "self isolate" it is a self contained lodge on a secure gated site. Guests have the whole lodge to themselves.
  • This wee place was just what I was looking for, handy for visiting family in Horam and under an hour from Gatwick. Great hosts who were happy to alter my booking when my flight was cancelled at short notice. Will stay again when in the area again. Thanks!

  • We had brilliant communication with Elena leading up to our visit. Upon arrival it was easy to check-in by collecting the key from the hotel and access the Yurt. There were plenty of logs and kindling for the wood burner which made our evening and night time super cozy and warm! Lots of candles were a great addition to help make the overall set up a perfect stay. We had breakfast outside the Yurt when 2 horse riders trotted passed - a lovely Sunday morning countryside feel. Although we couldn't find any instructions on how to work the shower, we did manage to work it out. Overall, we had a fantastic time and we would certainly come back again.

  • A gorgeous place for a trip away. The yurt is beautifully presented with lots of thoughtful touches (candles, ibuprofen, condiments...) and the location is lovely - right on the edge of a field with lots of sunlight. There is some quiet background noise from the nearby road but otherwise it feels very unspoilt and private - we didn't see anyone at all during our stay. Elena is very prompt to answer any queries and the check-in process was very simple.

    Lotte2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you're after an escape from pretty much everything then this is the place for you. Came back from our stay completely de-stressed. Stylish, cosy and affordable - could not recommend more!
