Japanese Restaurant

“CUISINE: Japanese • This is my favourite local Japanese restaurant. Although they also serve sushi, my favourite dishes are the more traditional Japanese meals. Yuko Yamamoto, a Japanese based in Portugal for more than a decade, goes far beyond sushi and extends to traditional Japanese dishes made with the seasonal products. Famous are the takoyaki (fried octopus balls), the salmon zukedon (salmon marinated over sushi rice) or the ika somen (squid sashimi). Try it out! :)”

Snack Place
$
“Portuguese sandwiches highly priced for locals, but quite yummy (ok, for Lisbon standards - you have to travel around the country to find the real yummy)! I lived in this neighboorhood for more than 10y and just discovered this place on my last year living there, which means Baixa can still have some secrets. Mostly locals go to this place, since it's a bit out of the beaten track. Around 6-7 euros per sandwich. Favorite sandwiches: suckling pig (this is quite great by any PT standards!) and fried cuttlefish ("choco").”

“Portuguese fast food. The best. Pork stake cooked in a garlic beer sauce and served on a carcaça (portuguese bread buns). ”

Wine Bar
$$
“A restaurant/bar serving light and full meals at very reasonable prices. Its set menu is a killer deal, but there’s a lot more on offer. The black pork tenderloin is tender and juicy, other meat flavoursome and its tapas and wine are unmissable. Open every day until 2am. Location”
