  • What a diamond in the rough this little place is. A great use of space full of amenities was perfect for our stay. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of bedding to make sure we were nice and cozy. We had dinner at the table using the dishes provided in the room. The star of the stay were the Muffins delivered in the morning by Mia and Lucy. Those muffins with the coffee and tea provided were a great start to the day. I would definitely go back the next time I'm in town.

  • Jan and her husband are gracious hosts. They provided gourmet breakfasts on consecutive mornings. What a treat to take breakfast in their upstairs solarium. Liked the setting as well. They made my stay very cozy.

  • An amazing experience for me and my kids! So welcoming and hospitable, gave my little ones some snacks from the garden and breakfast made for us in the morning really made us feel simultaneously at home and on vacation. We really enjoyed breakfast while watching the birds at the feeders from the sunroom! Close enough to anything you may need and to a few really nice beaches. I can’t recommend this place more highly!

If you enjoy hiking, take a right out our driveway and you will find a hiking trail just 4 houses down and across the street. For more hiking plus swimming fun, Chatfield Hollow state park is just minutes away on Rte. 80, in Killingworth or just minutes to the Hammonassett State park in Madison. If you enjoy fishing take a left off my driveway and proceed to the end of our road, where you will find a bridge over the Hammonassett river and a very popular local fishing spot. • This is a very comfortable studio apartment! Suzanne is great host, very helpful and accommodating! We will be repeat guests at Suzanne's place. A few things to know: ~ The tap water tastes great! (I believe there is a whole-house water filter.) ~ The space is light and cheerful. It feels spacious for a studio apartment. ~ The separate entrance allows for social distancing.

    Licia2020-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • We booked Suzanne's place for our adult son, who stayed there for two weeks after returning from New York City to his hometown of Guilford. From the very beginning, Suzanne was in touch about all the various details of his stay. She reassured us that the space was professionally disinfected between guests, and inquired about any special needs we might have. She stayed in touch with me and my son throughout the stay, offering extra amenities, thinking ahead in order to make sure he had what he needed for a long stay. Her kindness and generosity turned what could have been a difficult time into a lovely sojourn. The apartment itself is beautifully designed, meticulously curated with everything a person could need, and conveniently located walking distance from the train station and the town square. If you are looking to stay in Guilford for a weekend or two weeks or a month, this is your spot! Highly recommended.

This charming cottage is the perfect escape. Just steps from Pent Road Beach and a short walk from the new scenic shoreline trail, this house is perfect for a couple or small family looking for a fun and relaxing break from reality. Come enjoy the salt water, sun, and sand :). If you tire of the beach, the cottage is conveniently located within a 5 min drive from Madison’s historic downtown featuring an independent movie theater, famous bookstore, and trendy restaurants and shops.
Honestly it’s all about the location. This spot is 5 houses from a private beach and close to EVERYTHING - Hammonasset Beach State Park, walking trails, shopping, and restaurants. The inside has just had a makeover as well with updated hardwood floors and new paint.
The real draw to this space is the proximity to the beach, which is literally a one minute walk away. The cottage is also close to downtown, walking/biking trails, lots of restaurants and shops, and Hammonasset Beach State Park (which you can actually see from the beach). I promise there won’t be a dull moment! My favorite spots: Madison - 1) The Wharf at Madison Beach Hotel has amazing views and a good atmosphere. On Tuesdays this summer they’re doing an oyster tasting and prosecco night. 2) Moxie for the hip and trendy. It’s okay to bring kids for dinner (recommend reservations) but it can get a little wild later at night. 3) Bradley and Wall for a prepackaged lunch to take to the beach or pizza to go. 4) Lenny & Joe’s fish tale for lunch or dinner with the family. Enjoy a casual atmosphere with a seafood, a carousel ride, and ice cream stand. 5) Ashley’s Ice Cream in downtown. 6) RJ Julia Booksellers - famous and timeless bookstore that’s not to be missed!
  • Super adorable place to stay. It was welcoming, comforting, and cozy. Connie and Stephanie were very responsive whenever I had a question. It is a short walk to the beach. I enjoyed watching the sunrises. There is a lovely trail that is a short walk away which leads to Hammonasset Beach State Park. My experience was peaceful and nourishing.

    Raylen2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely weekend getaway- exactly as described but with additional touches like fresh flowers and nightlights to make you feel at home.

    Julia2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at 'Connie's Cottage' was absolutely amazing. Connie personally greeted us and made us feel so welcomed. Her personal and homey touches throughout the cottage made our stay unforgettable. Thank you so much Connie and Stephanie.

    Janet2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Connie and Stephanie’s cottage is a perfect place for a quiet getaway on the CT seaside. The place is a few hundred feet from a small private beach that sits across a rock jetty from the western point of the beaches in Hammonasset state park (the park itself is a few minutes drive away). The nearby Shoreline Trial (1mi one way) made for a nice stroll through the wooded marshlands. From the local restaurant and activity tips, to the full gamut of beach-ready accessories (towels, beach umbrella, chairs, cooler and cold packs in freezer), and to the well-stocked indoor and outdoor showers, their cozy cottage had everything we needed for a quick weekend trip. The place is full of charm and stands out against a lot of the bland newly renovated clones we saw in other listings along the shore. We comfortably stayed with my wife, our few-months old infant and mother-in-law. In short, a terrific AirBnB. Would highly recommend!

    Dmitry2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best Airbnb for me so far in terms of the thoughtfulness and keeping the place fully equipped for a wonderful stay. And the location is amazing, just walk to the beach, everything you need for a beach picnic is available here. Great communication, local tips. Will be back

    Prakash2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time and felt right at home! Loved all the little special touches. Would definitely recommend and return!

    Mary2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Connie, the owner, was very welcoming! Her cottage is adorable and in a fabulous location. The beach at the end of the road has exceptional views. She filled her cottage with SO many extras....I had everything I needed for my 5 night stay! This was my first time staying at an Air BnB....I can't imagine anyone doing a better job hosting! Maura from Massachusetts

    Maura2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived early for our check in and meet Connie at the cottage. She was doing a walk through to make sure that everything was prepared for our stay. Connie explained the workings and history of the cottage. She even took the 1 minute walk with us to show us the private beach. She told about a few spots to eat and showed us the brochure with multiple local recommendations. The cottage was immaculate with everything you need for a relaxing stay. There was nothing that we needed that wasn't already available. Connie told us that there was anything needed to please contact her. We had a great 3 day stay at the cottage and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy place for a relaxing stay and only a 1 minute walk to the private beach area.

  • I had booked Patti and Ben’s place for a short getaway. It was a solo trip for me, and I don’t live very far from their cottage, but it was absolutely perfect to get the heck outta dodge for some rest and relaxation! When I arrived, I was surprised by how adorable it was! Everything was very clean and there were even fresh flowers set out. Getting in was a breeze, Patti made herself available even though she was on her way home from her own trip. It was clear that I could contact her with anything I needed (although it turned out I was all set)! There was an instruction book which provided information for all the cottage’s amenities and nearby attractions and restaurants. The cottage is tucked away a bit into the woods, which is excellent for a nature lover like me. It was lovely to sit on the back porch for lunch or the on the front 3 season porch while reading a book. There is also plenty to do nearby—Hammonasset Beach is across the street—and attractions like Mystic Aquarium aren’t far. The towns of both Clinton and Madison are adorable for shopping and dining. All in all, this was a great experience for me! I would highly recommend this spot for solo travelers or couples, and can definitely see myself returning!

  • Patty’s place is a real getaway in a beautiful, quiet setting. The cottage is very pretty inside and out with lots of thoughtful touches. Even better than the pictures. Full kitchen, very comfortable bed and futon, lots of light, sparkling clean. Patty and Ben were excellent hosts. I hope to come back next summer!

    Christina2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage, the space is perfect for a couple looking to relax and enjoy the beach which is a few minutes away. The kitchen is well equipped and Patti is an excellent host, very helpful and quick to answer any questions. The location is great to explore other towns too, easy access to highways.

    Jason2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely perfect. Patty was very kind and helpful with everything. My kids and I had a great time.

  • Beautiful cottage, very clean with very welcoming hosts, attentive to our needs. A nice place to rest, enjoy the sea, the landscape and why not do some shopping! Outlet nearby. Really, I recommend it! Thanks again Patty and Ben for your welcome and your good advice for this wonderful stay!

    Manon2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Patty was very accommodating and flexible right from the beginning of the reservation. The cottage had everything I could need and then some and I thoroughly enjoyed the quiet, private setting. Looking forward to staying again next year!

    Aaron2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is the cutest little love shack! It's very close to beaches, as well as some great places to grab a bite to eat. The hosts could not possibly be more helpful and gave us so many tips about the area and places which really made our trip something special! The cottage is small but highly functional and we found that it lived really well for just two of us. It's located in a quiet and relaxing area, perfect for just sitting out on the porch with a book to enjoy the day without feeling the heat. Highly recommend for couples looking for a little get away with their own private space!

    Gracie2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Patty is an amazing host. She went above and beyond to make sure my family and I had enjoyable stay. She very warm and accommodating and was quick to answer questions after my arrival via phone and text. It felt like I was talking to a close family member. The place is super adorable with really cozy sea cottage decoration and aesthetic. It rained a lot on our trip, but the skylights, tons of books, and wooden location made me feel like I was in a novel. I had a wonderful time cozying up with a book, drinking tea, and watching the rain come down through the skylights in the kitchen or in a wicker chair in the three season room. On the sunny days, it was about a 5 min drive or 30 minute walk to the beach. I also spent a lot of time on the back deck listening to the breeze through the trees and watching all the birds and animals. There is an ice cream shop with an old carousel (for only $1.50!!) that my toddler absolutely loved just a 10 minute walk away. Downtown historic Madison is a 15 minute drive. Willowby's coffee shop is amazing btw. Thank you!

This is a lovely central home located next to beaches and downtown. You can uber if you do not have your own vehicle. Drive is 4-5 minutes to beaches or downtown. Close to grocery store and train station. The house is set back into a private area. Enjoy the pool or grill some dinner. It is a 3300 sq foot home that is only occupied by 2 people on the top floor. The room is on the first floor.
The home is a very open space feeling. There is access to laundry if needed and upon request. We are very friendly or can give you absolute privacy if requested. We are working people and mostly not home. There is a private small refrigerator in the bedroom for guests convenience. The pool is open from May to late September. We have some friends of the forest that come out on occasion. If you would like to have some items waiting for you in the refrigerator please let me know I can help accommodate. There is coffee and tea for your liking. Although the sleeping is a sofa bed I have alternated the mattress to be one of a typical thickness so there should be no uncomfortable conditions, note the mattress is soft and not firm or hard depending on what you are used to.
The neighborhood is more on a main street and not a neighborhood so it is very individually private.
  • Very prompt and accurate communication. They were out of town for the weekend, so didn’t get to meet the hosts. Beautiful house. Very clean.

    Eugene2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the perfect quiet spot. Close enough to New Haven, but in one of the most beautiful coastal areas of CT. The hostess was simply fantastic.

    Adrián2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for 5 nights and Krysia’s place was perfect. Safe, quiet. Good home base as we explored from Old Lyme to NYC (via the train). Also loved the town of Madison. We had privacy if we wanted it to the point of feeling like our own place but with an attentive host! Highly recommended. Thank you Krysia for your genuine hospitality.

  • This home is spotless. The three bedrooms were all comfortable, and the kitchen was nicely stocked with including coffee and hot cocoa pods, a cheese and crackers platter in the fridge, and bottles of water. Perfect for what we needed.

    Kristin2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Glad I found this place last minute while on the road going to visit family for the holidays. The house was immaculate and the cheese & crackers were a nice surprise.

    Ray2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kevin was a great host, quick to respond and available if we needed him. The place was immaculate, the amenities were top notch - better then any hotel! Brand new everything and it included towels, toiletries and even water and snacks! We could not have picked a better place to enjoy a girls weekend! So comfortable, chic and accessible to everything Madison and the surrounding towns had to offer. Thanks again Kevin - Can't wait to come back!

  • We really enjoyed this house as our home base while exploring Hammonasset, Madison & the neighboring towns. The house was immaculate, the mattresses amazingly comfortable and so nice to have the big outdoor porch. Being close to downtown Madison was a big plus. The meat & cheese plate left for us was delicious… I will be back!

Private room located in the Wooster Square area, downtown, very close to Yale, in a safe neighborhood. The bed is new and a very comfy memory foam bed. The room overlooks Wooster Park, with two big windows. You have access to free WIFI, a full kitchen, and a living room with a couch, and a closet in your bedroom
This is no frills. A new single bed, clean sheets, a bathroom that gets cleaned every day and very close to the downtown and Yale. Very safe neighborhood, in the heart of Wooster Square, near the famous New Haven pizza restaurants. Two other rooms in the building, both airbnb guests, most people are students coming to Yale for interviews or visits. Please note that this bedroom is very small. There is a small closet located in your bedroom with hangers.
very old Italian neighborhood, with many students and families

  • Room is close to Yale, check-in was easy via lock box. For the price it was what I expected—cheapest room available on airbnb. Towel and sheets were clean😀. There is no a/c, but there’s a small fan. Bed is on a stand that may be precarious for an overweight person, but fine otherwise. The knob for hot water is missing in the shower, but you can still twist it with your hand. Overall, you get what you pay for. I think the price is fair considering its location. Good for a short no-frills stay.

  • This Airbnb is the antithesis to standard vernaculars and sets itself apart as a quintessential accommodation. Various textures and materials are elegantly and thoughtfully joined together in an atmosphere of conviviality. Depth of details throughout are provocatively distinct, nuanced, and charmingly shaped offering an exceptional user experience. A home in total harmony.

The kitchen in particular was very well equipped and you could prepare great food yourself. The bus stop into town is only a 5-minute walk away. Ricardo is a nice and very friendly host. Communication was very easy. Had the apartment not been rented out again after us, we would have stayed longer.

  • The Charming Farmhouse was exactly that and the owners are gracious and welcoming hosts who treated us to an amazingly beautiful and incredibly delicious breakfast after our second night’s stay. It was such a relaxing and fun place to stay while we were in town visiting family for Thanksgiving. And best of all we got to pet and feed the pony, the miniature donkey and the Alpaca before we left!!

    Rebecca2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in this beautiful farmhouse! The bedrooms were comfy and quiet, and since they’re on their own floor they felt very private. Nathalie was warm and welcoming, and our sons loved seeing all her animals! Highly recommend. We hope to visit again.

  • Nathalie’s house is very special! For being a stones throw away from the beautiful shore of CT, this unique property is the perfect place for a calm getaway. Looking for rustic charm? This place has it all, and so tastefully decorated and comfortable. Oh, and Cookie getting excited to see you in the morning is just the best! Nathalie is hands down a superhost that you want to stay with!!! Thanks!

  • A fabulous home by the water!! June is a wonderful host, kind and attentive. My husband stayed for a long weekend for my birthday. June made sure we were comfortable, checked in during our stay, gave us great tips for seafood, & even left me some goodies for my birthday!! I can't thank June enough for making us feel at home. Our stay was relaxing and peaceful. Watching the sun set over the pond was breathtaking. I highly recommending staying!! I couldn't have asked for a better birthday weekend and a more wonderful host.

    Monique2020-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • The bungalow was so relaxing. Perfect for my mini getaway from work. The enclosed porch and pellet stove were my favorites. June even left the pups and I treats (who would’ve known I’d enjoy zucchini bread?? It’s now my favorite!) My dogs enjoyed laying out on the dock. June was super communicative and helpful, even gave me suggestions for restaurants still open during this pandemic. It very quiet, perfect place to decompress. Thank you June.

    Amanda2020-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • It isn't possible to say too many good things about June's bungalow. The location is so tranquil and so beautiful. Morning coffee, gazing out at the pond, watching the ducks and sunrise. A pellet stove to keep us warm and cozy when temperatures dropped. Abundant towels and culinary supplies. Lovely neighbors. This really felt like a home, not a hotel. June was super responsive, caring but not intrusive. My dog and I would go back in a minute, and we both highly recommend it to other human and canine guests. Both are equally welcomed!

    Jennifer2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • June’s place was the perfect cozy getaway and her hospitality exceeded our expectations! The pellet stove was easy to use so we could make it extra cozy during our late December stay. We were easily able to checkin with a lock box and was greeted with yummy treats for us and our two dogs. This Airbnb is the perfect place if you have behaved pups. We set up dog beds in the living room and they loved the pellet stove. The yard isn’t fenced but there’s plenty of space for them to run around while we enjoyed the view of the pond. June had all of the kitchen gadgets for cooking making it easy to stay in for meals. We found a hiking trail just 5 minutes away called “red trail to blue trail” on the All Trails app. Very easy trail with little to no incline but perfect for a short walk with the dogs. The neighborhood is quiet but in just a short drive you can be in the fun town of Mystic! We’d move into this adorable bungalow in a second that’s how much we loved it. You won’t be disappointed!

    Megan2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • June’s place is beautiful! Nestled on a lake in a quiet neighborhood, the house is very cute and comfortable. June is very responsive and helpful!

  • 2nd time staying at June's - such a lovely time, as always. Hate saying goodbye!

    Brigid2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cozy and welcoming home for the weekend! My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend getaway and it was nothing short of amazing! From waking up and having breakfast by the pond in the screened in porch to enjoying a drink and watching the sunset we wouldn’t change a thing about this trip! June is such an amazing host from her hospitality to her tips and guide of the area! She really helps make your stay memorable! She filled the fridge with every day needs like water, eggs, and bread. And was kind enough to leave snacks like chips and more! She was extremely accommodating when we asked for an earlier check in time and even stopped by to show us how to use the beautiful pellet stove in the living room! This cozy bungalow is perfect for a couple for a nice fall/summer/and winter getaway! Thank you so much for everything June we can’t wait to come back and stay again!!

Charming year round beach house on the Connecticut shoreline. Overlooks tidal meadow and steps away from a private beach. Close to town and trails.
1700 square feet/ two floors, recently renovated kitchen.
Walking distance to downtown Madison, a quaint New England town. Shopping center, coffee shops, vintage movie theater, cafes, etc. Close to winter ski slopes and Mohegan Sun Casino and Resort.
  • Beautiful house, with great Amenities, and a cute private beach. Hope to visit again.

  • This beach house is terrific! Well appointed, immaculate and convenient. The updated kitchen, has everything you need, even had tea and honey available to for our arrival/stay. Surprised at the space, 2 community rooms downstairs with the 2 bedrooms upstairs, very livable. The master bed was very comfortable w/nice linens, private full bath, with plenty of window privacy/shading. The 2nd bedroom had comfortable bedding, nice linens and a private 1/2 bath. There is also a full bath downstairs along with modern washer and dryer. 1st floor has plenty of space, 2 separate community rooms. The kitchen area is wide open, plenty of windows to view the beautiful marshland. We were lucky the temp hit 50deg two days and we enjoyed the walking trails and beach nearby. The location is fantastic, a 3 min walk to the small beach area, the house is situated about 1/2 between downtown Madison and Hammonasset, on a quiet ocean block neighborhood, but also 5min from I-95. The driveway has parking for 3-4 cars, fine for us, note - there isn't any street parking because the street is narrow. I would absolutely stay here again.

  • This place is great! Very clean, cozy, and well appointed. You'll have everything you need in the very nice kitchen. We only used the master bed, but the bed was very comfortable. There is plenty of space and wonderful views. The location is in a very nice, quiet (in February) neighborhood, but very close to the ocean and marsh. Super easy to get to. If I have need to go to CT again I would totally stay here again.

Cottage setting with Grove beach rights.
Kondo’s approach to Japanese decluttering can be summed up by tokimeki, the idea that you should give away any possession that does not “spark joy.” Touch each object, listen to your heart, and feel the joy… or the lack thereof. Continue until you are surrounded only by the things that you love. This is how I have the place set up to feel clear with just the right item that you need.
It’s a very quiet area no noise room is sound proof.

My place is close to The Village center and the Village Green, shops, restaurants, Chocolatier, a bookstore. A half mile to the beach, 4 miles to a National Seashore beach in Madison. I love my place because of the light, the cozy relaxing porch, the locals, the location to the village, the food!. You want to take a Picnic lunch with you? talk to me... My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, bicyclists or hiking enthusiasts, anyone who just loves history!
The place is eclectic, and casual and kind of cottage like.
While walking around this town of 2,200, settled in 1620, you see any number of beautiful homes, and while they are truly historic, they are as current in their simplicity as any contemporary home designed now. The 'form and function' and inherent simplicity, is also desirable today. There are 4 small 'House Museums', one being the oldest stone house on the East Coast. Guilford also has the stellar, 2 block Geen or Commons, with the town built around it.
  • We enjoyed staying at Griswald Cottage. It was very clean, comfortable and convenient to great local restaurants and shops.

  • Great stay in a quaint and historic area. Very hospitable host made us feel welcome and made a wonderful breakfast. The suite was located in a historic home, very clean and spacious accommodations and large comfortable bedding. Free parking on site and fantastic location near the village and close to all tourist attractions. Fantastic value as well about 1/3 the price of the area hotels. Can't say enough good things about it, wonderful space and delightful host. Will definitely be back.

  • Excellent stay with Chef Kate. • Griswold Cottage is an old house on a street that is fairly busy at times - there is private off-road parking provided. The apartment is upstairs and is a very comfortable and homely area. Kate, the host, provided some very welcome breakfasts on the front porch and we had a great time chatting to her and then enjoying the Guilford area. Highly recommended.

  • The space itself was lovely, Tian was very accommodating with our check in time! We stayed there for four days, and it was wonderful! The place itself was lovely, clean and spacious, with gorgeous garden areas in a beautiful area close enough to the beach and the college (which was where we were bringing our daughter to school). It was quiet in the evenings, which was fantastic for us! Tian was such a great host and we were so thankful to have had such a great stay for such an amazing price.

Browse a variety of boutique shops in downtown Madison. RJ Julia Bookstore is iconic and must not be missed! ***PLEASE NOTE***We have a studio apt on the lower level of our home which we will stay in when hosting guests. It has a separate private entrance and garden space and is completely separate from the main level where guests stay.
One of our guests said to us "the Madison Beach Hotel has nothin' on you" :) So plan to stay at Greenfield Cottage and save a lot of money…you won't regret it. Should you want to have a cocktail or dinner at the MBH, you're just a few minutes away. When we are home, we share the cottage with our two fat cats. So…if you are allergic to cats, Greenfield Cottage might not be the place for you.
Ours is a very quiet neighborhood. Greenfield Cottage offers wonderful privacy and outdoor dining and grilling. As we are in a neighbor hood setting, we ask our guests be mindful of that when outside on the back deck.
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Susi and Skip’s place. Would stay again in a second. They really care about their guests, and it is clear from all of the many thoughtful touches throughout. Was the most welcoming Airbnb experience we have had. Really stood out. Thanks!

    Justin2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful and special place Greenfield Cottage is! We (family of four) had a wonderful long weekend stay - much needed family time in October. The house is very warm and welcoming, well appointed, and beautifully decorated. You get an immediate feeling of comfort when you arrive, and will enjoy the beautiful setting; all of the cozy corners and nooks, and the special features of this home. As great as the Cottage is, what really makes your stay special is the amazing hospitality of Susi and Skip. So many thoughtful touches and special amenities - they think of everything and set a great ambience for you from the moment you first enter the home. Susi is excellent with communication and is easy to reach during your stay if you have any questions or are looking for advice. We loved our time at Greenfield Cottage and look forward to a return visit. Thank you, Susi and Skip, for such a wonderful and memorable stay!

    Chris2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Charming and chic, indeed! We had a wonderful stay at Susi's beautiful home. If feel like I was coming home to a friend or relatives home. The home was very clean and so stylish. We were welcomed with a book of suggestions and house information. There was also an adorable guest book with tips and thank you's from prior guests. In addition there were some snacks, continental breakfast items and a bottle of wine on the counter. It was a great personal touch, one I have not seen in my prior AirBnB stays anywhere. Thanks again for your quick responses on the app also for the few questions I had! Extremely highly recommended!

    Jae2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Such a clean, cozy, charming home! Susi is an excellent host. Upon entering the home, we were greeted with music playing (Alexa), a wine & cheese platter and snacks which was wonderful after sitting in traffic on Labor Day weekend. There were also groceries for us to enjoy for breakfast. Such a nice comfortable stay with a great outdoor space. I highly recommend staying here. Susi really does not miss a beat!

    Elizabeth2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay! Lots of thoughtful touches and a beautiful space made for a very special weekend. We especially enjoyed spending time on the back deck under all of the lights. Susi is easy to communicate with and made our stay a great one!

    Shannon2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Susi's place is amazing and exactly as described! The dining room and living rooms are very spacious. Bedrooms are very comfy and homey to stay. Alexa (that cloud-based voice service) definitely added more fun and convenience to our stay. We loved to have breakfast in the back porch and talk a walk in the garden and enjoy the frog pond (how lovely)! And Susi kindly left us some food, snacks, and all the ingredients that we need to cook in the cottage if we need to. Couldn't find a better place to stay in Madison!

    Mengzhen2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful stylish home with a great big private yard, which our dog loved. Susi provided many ideas regarding things to do, quick responses to any questions we had, even wine and cheese for our first evening, and bacon, eggs and English muffins for breakfast. It really was like being in our own second home. Madison and the surrounding towns (Guilford, Essex, Stony Creek) are picturesque New England towns worth visiting while staying at Susi's house. Everything about our stay was relaxing and beautiful. We'd love to return. :)

    Elisabeth2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Such a nice place with a lot of thoughtful touches. There are several neat spaces and the furnishings and home overall were stylish and well taken care of. The lawn is nicely landscaped with good hangout/entertaining space. Susi is great to deal with and is indeed a super host! The house fits in perfectly within upscale and friendly Madison, with beautiful beaches in town and other attractions for kids close by.

  • This was my second time staying at the Shorline Apartment and it was still the perfect fit for my weekend in CT! I also appreciated that she had sample size toiletries, because I realized I ran out of moisturizer after washing my face my first night there! Thankfully the bathroom was fully stocked and I was able to find something to tide me over until I could get to a local CVS to pick something up. And the hot tub was DIVINE after a long day of chilly rain!

    Erin2019-11-24T00:00:00Z

Water Forest Retreat Hiker's Haven is a very private semi off grid electrified and heated tiny house just steps away from a brook nestled on 100 acres of lush forest. Enjoy the water views inside from the many windows or out on the deck or firepit area. There are 2 1/2 miles of hiking trails with a pond, marsh and small waterfall. Come here to hike, fish, decompress and rejuvenate in this magical woodland! We also have an Octagon and Treehouse. Please click on our profile picture to read more.
Hiker's Haven is 2/10ths of a mile or a three minute downhill walk through a forest that comes to Goldmine brook. The walk can be steep in places and has 57 steps. People in average shape should not have a problem. Please pack light to minimize your walking distance. The space is 198 sq ft and has electricity and heat but not running water. Bottled water is provided along with hand sanitizer. Inside you will have wonderful water views through most of the eight screened windows. The view from the deck is great too. There is a ceiling fan and an electric fireplace for your comfort. A queen size bed with soft sheets, end tables, dining table and chairs, coat rack topped with wine glasses, USB ports with cables, cabinet and bench round out the furnishings. Three stained glass transoms look out over the water. Above hangs a birch log decked out with fairy lights, corkscrew wood, silver coated maple leaves and a hornets nest! The bathroom is conveniently located in the house and has a vented composting toilet so there is no odor. Toilet paper is provided. There are directions on the wall on how to use it. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY so that it will function properly. In the cabinet you will find camping supplies such a dinnerware set, cutlery, cutting board, sugar and sugar substitutes, spices, oil, pots, pans, lighters, scissors, wine and bottle and can openers, dish cloth, insect repellent, umbrellas, flashlights, lantern and a first aid kit. Underneath the cabinet you’ll see a propane cooking stove. On top of the cabinet is a Kuerig coffee maker with assorted coffee, hot chocolate, hot cider, tea and chai latte. Two pottery mugs are provided which Nancy made and are for sale upon request. There is also a book binder with trail maps, directions on how to use the equipment, general information and restaurant menus. There is a basket underneath the bench which has extra propane canisters, Lysol, paper towels, hand sanitizer, batteries and extra lightbulbs. Under the bed you will find a container with an assortment of games. Another one with soap, towels and wash cloths. A black plastic container to use for dirty dishes and a box of spare towels. There are 2 1/2 mile of wood lined hiking trails with some that follow Goldmine brook to a small waterfall that once hosted a grist mill back in the 1700's.You can still see many of the large stone foundations. Along the trail you will see many of the iconic stone walls that are unique to New England. Maps are provided and trail markers are posted along the way. There are many benches and chairs along the trail where you can sit, relax and enjoy the scenery. While hiking walking poles or sticks are recommended as the terrain can be rocky with steep areas and stone steps. Two walking sticks hang on the wall in the tiny house for you to use. Because of the terrain hiking boots are strongly recommended. These are hiking trails only. No ATV, dirt or mountain bikes please. While hiking we ask that you please respect the private signs as these trails lead to the Octagon and Treehouse. Also, please stay on our side of the brook as the opposite side is owned by our neighbor. Thanks! It is about a 8 minute walk to the spring fed pond that is part of Goldmine brook. The brook is rated class A and supports a myriad of wild life such as river otters, mink, muskrat and great blue herons. If you like to fish bring your gear to try fornative trout, big and small mouth bass, white and yellow perch and shiners. Previous guests have had good luck fly fishing here. Since the pond is small we please ask that you catch and release. Looking for a place to swim, canoe or kayak? Visit Gardner Lake state park in Salem which is only 15 minutes away. (you will need to supply your own canoe and kayaks) Depending on water flow, you can go for a dip in the brook right outside your door. Please wear water shoes as the rocks can be slippery. You can also take a swim in the pool under the waterfall which is about a 25-30 hike away. Looking for some ocean fun? Bluff Point state park in Groton is another good choice. Here they have a beach and hiking trails. Bluff Point is about 24 minutes away. Both state parks are free of charge. If you are looking for more things to do check out our guide book on Airbnb by clicking our profile picture. The outdoor living area is conveniently layered with crushed stone. Enjoy a fire in the fire pit while eating meals out on the deck, by the fire or inside. We have a propane grill and a grill you can put over the fire pit. There are tiki torches for extra light and ambiance, two tables, chairs and zero gravity lounge chairs. Seasoned wood is avaiable for 5.00 a box and contains kindling and a pine fire starter. You can also bring your own wood or use any wood on the forest floor as long as it isn't being use to line the trails. Enjoy a hot private outdoor shower up at the main house. It is about a 3-4 minute walk from Hiker's Haven. The shower is private while you are using it, but is shared with other guests. Shampoo and conditioner are provided. There is also a sink here where you can wash your dishes. Dish soap and scrubbers provided. There is a dish drying cloth in the cabinet back at Hiker's Haven. Due to freezing temperatures, the shower and sink will not be available in winter. A wash basin is supplied for sponge bathing. You can heat up water on the propane stove or use the coffee machine. Guests staying two nights or more during this season are welcome to use the indoor shower up at the main house. In winter we will take care of washing the dishes. Because of the distance, WiFi is not available at Hiker's Haven, but is available in the parking area and pottery studio. If your phone has an Internet carrier, you should be able to access the Internet from hikers haven. AT&T and Verizon phone services work well in the tiny house. There is a Walmart and Big Y grocery store one mile away where you can buy food and other essentials. Since there is no refridgerator you will need to bring a cooler or you can borrow ours. There are also many good restaurants close by. We provide some menus in the bookbinder or you can go to our guidebook on Airbnb by clicking on our profile picture. Some places even make deliveries or you can use a delivery app. Looking for a liquor store? Bozrah Wine and Spirits is one mile away on the right heading west on route 82. For the nature enthusiast, take part in a guided walk where Nancy will discuss the history, plants, animals, mushrooms and geology of the area. The walk costs 10 per person and lasts about an hour and a half. We usually cover two miles and may go off trail. You might want to bring a drink, snack and your camera. BEFORE YOU BOOK, please keep in mind that this is a fancy form of camping (glamping!) that does not have running water in the tiny house. There will or could be insects, animals, sudden weather changes , rocky paths and hilly terrain. (Welcome to New England!) It is 2/10ths of a mile or 3 minute hike to get to Hiker's Haven. The hike is all down hill which means the return trip is all up hill! Please pack light as you will have less to carry. Bert and I can help you carry your gear. Smoking is not allowed inside the tiny house, but is allowed outside. For people staying two nights or more I will leave you a check in text to see if you need anything. Bert and I will do everything we can to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. Please feel free to contact us at anytime during your stay if you need anything. We look forward to hosting you!
We live at the end of a cul de sac in a quiet residential community that Nancy's father and grandfather built in the late 1950's. The tiny house is nestled on 100 acres of forest with a brook running along one side of the property.

  • Cozy little place with a lovely stream in the back yard. Everything was excellent.

  • Connie’s place far exceeded any expectations we may have had. The best way to describe it is I felt like we were staying in a life-sized fairy house. From the white lights around the plants on the deck, to the rock stacks to the sound of gushing water from the brook. Even more peaceful than the ocean. There were snacks, drinks and a special birthday cake to welcome us. Connie’s home was cozy and and tastefully decorated, with unique little reminders throughout that all is possible if you Believe. It truly was a beautiful get-away!

    Robin2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was very comfortable and inviting. We were welcomed with complimentary wine and a cheese platter. One of my favorite Airbnb experiences!

    Joshua2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Connie’s home is a wonderful getaway. I stayed in the cottage at the end of December and it was filled with Christmas spirit everywhere I turned. If you love Christmas, you’ll love to stay here around the holidays. If you don’t love Christmas, you probably will by the time you check out. The home was cozy but had just enough space for myself, my husband, and my 1 year old. Everything (kitchen/bathroom/etc.) is newer and clean. I especially enjoyed stepping out onto the deck to drink coffee and listening to the rushing water of the nearby brook. The cottage also has fast WiFi, two TVs, and a Google Home. We could not ask for for more. Can’t wait to return.

    Leah2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway. It's far enough from the center of Guilford to feel like you're truly getting "away from it all", but it's also close enough so you can spend time in town without thinking about driving for too long. The amenities were so nice, and the cottage was so quiet and peaceful.

  • Connie’s place was better than expected! Her space is a perfect getaway, right down the street from a hiking trail and near lots of vineyards. There is a gorgeous brook outside the house and Connie left a wealth of local resources, wine and cheese along with milk for coffee in the fridge. If you’re looking for a quiet homey home away from home - this is the spot for you!

  • Home away from home. Idyllic serene location. Great amenities. Just fell in love with it.

    Shyamala2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Connie's home is one of the coziest, most relaxing and tranquil places I've ever had the pleasure of staying. If you need a getaway from the city or if you're looking for a romantic spot, look no further. Thank you Connie, we will be back!

This cozy Suite With A Beach is wonderfully located! Our lovely, private beach on Long Island Sound is just a 1 minute walk away. Downtown Madison, Mercy By The Sea and the Madison Beach Hotel are only 2 minute drives & a state beach is only 4. With its own private entrance separated from the main house by a breezeway, it is beautiful and peaceful throughout the year. Ideal for a couple or single. The bathroom has a whirlpool tub and a shower. The shower is best accessed by those 5'9" or less.
The entire Suite was completely redone 2 years ago. We remodeled the room and bathroom to a standard for use by our own children and grandchildren. The bedroom has AC in the summer and electric baseboard heat. The addition of a skylight brightens the room and provides wonderful airflow and natural ventilation. The bed, also new 2 years ago, is a full size bed and ideal for one or two persons. However, full size does not mean queen or king, so larger people should be aware of this. The bathroom has all new fixtures and a full bathtub with a heated whirlpool. The tub works fine for all but the shower is most comfortable for those 5'9" or shorter. Separate electric heat is ideal in cooler weather. New penny tile on the floor and subway tile around the tub combine with wainscotting halfway up the walls and across the ceiling for a warm and pleasant feeling of quality. A quick history: The entire space ceased being a garage 35 years ago when we converted it to a small dance studio where Leslie began teaching dance. It already had a bathroom since it served as a bedroom for the original owners while they built the house in 1948. Within three years, the studio was so successful that we moved to a different space leaving behind the the hardwood floor, bathroom and electric heat. With no interest in returning it to being a garage, we built a wall to use a little more than half as an office and the other portion as storage. With the arrival of our grandchildren, we realized we needed to re-purpose the office space and the recent remodeling took place. The space is accessed from the breezeway, which separates the main house from the Suite With A Beach. Since the first portion of the space still serves as storage for us, you have to walk through that area (about 5 feet) to the Suite's door. We separate our storage area from view with hanging curtains. While there is plenty of room, the Suite is compact and larger people should recognize this.
The immediate area is a private beach association community. The roads are small and the houses are close together. Several of these beach neighborhoods are lined up next to each other making it possible to walk or run throughout several of them without ever going onto more heavily traveled town roads. The beaches are all privately owned in the overall area. Many are owned by the beach associations but some are owned by individual houses. The ownership extends to the mean high tide line so walking along the water line is usually allowed. Our beach association owns its own beach, which is only 75 steps from the Suite (thus By The Beach). While several homes have access rights to the beach, it is rarely crowded and usually is quiet and peaceful. Long Island Sound is typically quite calm with waves only about 1-2 feet or less. The water, being calmer than the ocean, tends to warm up sooner. Within walking distance is Mercy By the Sea, a conference and retreat area. Only 2 miles away is the Madison Beach Hotel where many weddings and events are held throughout the warmer weather seasons (late spring to mid-fall). Our Suite is an ideal option from the expense of staying at either of those locations.
  • Great for quick access to the beach! The surrounding area is great and Leslie is a lovely host.

  • I stay frequently in this area, and Mary's AirBnB is always my first choice. It's comfortable, friendly and convenient. Mary and Jeff know how to make guests feel at home.

  • We had a very pleasant, albeit brief stay at Mary’s. It is a lovely older home that is a great base for exploring the area. Mary and her family were very welcoming. We had a great night’s sleep and will return if we are in the area again.

The Gardener's Cottage, located less then a mile from the Long Island Sound, is a great alternative to the common hotel. Situated a stones throw from Hammonasset State Park and Beach, Clinton Crossings Outlets, and the train . Near by you will find places to rent kayaks, Chamard Winery, Marinas and many quaint New England towns. We have a bonfire pit that sits on a half acre property. We are passionate gardeners and if you happen to stay during the growing season you may get some tomatoes!
  • Robin’s cottage was absolutely perfect! Clean, well designed, cozy but not stuffy and a really beautiful space for two. The cottage is beautifully landscaped and extremely well kept. Robin was a phenomenal host, super sweet and quick to respond- overall fantastic energy and experience. We will be back!

Blocks from downtown New Haven, the nutmeg room crashpad is a private room in a 3 bedroom apartment used solely for Air bnb. The Colonial Room crashpad is right where downtown starts becoming residential, however, because it's so close, there's still lots of people and noise. New Haven is known as the "mini New York" and there is a wide variety of people, places, and things to do. We hope you enjoy your stay here and welcome to New Haven!
The neighborhood is residential, but very close to downtown. There are a variety of people there from all backgrounds. New Haven has a lot of homeless people. There is a long historical/political discussion as to why they are there, however, the majority of the concentration is downtown. They also drift to the rest of New Haven as well - should one ask for money, it is not advisable too do that as there are many programs, food, etc for them and any money given is typically used for things that are not what they say it is for. It may be different in other cities, however, in New Haven, this is something to be aware of. This room is in one of the most up and coming neighborhoods in New Haven, close to downtown, and some of the highest safety ratings in the city.

  • This really is perfect if you are going to be out and about, but its a comfortable place to sleep, clean and feels secure. The room is very basic with a bed, chair, side table and closet. Easy to get to and down town New Haven is easily accessible!

  • The Nutmeg Room is a great place to crash when you’re on the go. The bed was comfy and the area is quiet and safe. Not a ton of plush decorations but clean and functional. There was even space in the common area to do yoga in. Highly recommend for a value hunter!
